Just wanted to throw this up here and see if anyone can ID this image quality artifact.
I'm new to this so it could be a classic issue for all I know.
The particulars: Cura 15.02.1, 210/60, MakerGeek PLA (always stored in an airtight container with an Eva-Dry mini-dehumidifier), glue stick adhesion on a removable 1/4 glass plate, shell/top/bottom layer 1.2
Printing feet for my Robo. The brim looked good all around so I let it continue to print. Some of the first layer looks good but then I had section start come up then start to stick again.
    Any ideas? Thanks! Robo IQ1.jpg

    Is your fan on?

In advanced settings cooling fan is checked on. I just added and oiler and will check to verify it's function in a few min.

filament and extruder fans are operational.
Getting some strange diagonal lines in the brim. Inconsistent. Shows up in some places and not others Robo IQ2.jpg

    First layer failed again.

How can the first layer brim be fine but the first layer object be bad?
    Might try a raft next...

That looks like (the first, last pic) you are getting a burst of over extrusion.
I take it that other variables (like temperature) are constant.

Check your hobb for crap...you added an oiler (which was a good thought) and I assume that did not solve it.
Does slowing it down (a lot--like say by half) affect it?

a raft is worth a try... if for some reason it is simply not adhering in those sections a raft might solve it (but it looks more like something else is going on).

Also try to use blue tape and glue stick. I have issues with glue and the bed. As soon as I added the tape no more issues. Worth a shot

Those diagonal lines are indication of being too close / overextrusion for the first layer. You're also getting the wagon wheels.

Raise up a hair on the first layer.
Those delaminated spots on the insides of your prints look like dirty spots to me, but that could also just be 'too close'

I've been able to fix this sort of issue on a bad setup without stopping the print by increasing the speed, which is very counterintuitive.

Mark - Cleaned out the Hobb (thats the gear with the teeth that drives the filament right?) It was a bit ugly but not to bad.
Justin - Tape and glue? Both?
Matt - I was reading your blog just before you posted and was eye-balling the wagon wheel. I may move my M565 Z start gcode up a bit and see what happens.
Thanks guys! I'll start trying them right after dinner.:)

With PLA you do not want the fan for the first few layers. In Cura this is set as a height for the fan to turn on at.

Sorry I have yet to post on this. Ran out of time. Had last week off so I could mess with my RoBo but the loose coupler and unseated x rods took up most of the week so now I'm back to only having a few min here and there to play around.
Speaking of playing around I have been messing with my M565 Z start gcode. Can moves be made in other than .1 increments. Will a .05 move produce an effect?

Good. That will help it bite and push the filament better.

you're printing in tenths. hundredths mean something. I have always been able to round to the nearest tenth.. 1.19-1.20 or whatever. but if it landed on a .15 I'd leave it there.

Is this a good example of a "Wagon Wheel" artifact?

    Looks a lot like that.
Not a perfect example, but certainly looks a bit too low.

I have seen examples that were worse than that :)
