    i don't have a scanner but thats something i want to do sometime too. I actually wanted to make an online catalogue where you can view 3d interactive scans of 3d printers on the market with all their specs as a cool 3d printer comparison website.

    Post some pictures when you have done it.

    Come on, would like to see something more detailed than a lowly pawn! ......let's scan a knight too;)
    I too would like to get me a 3D scanner soon.

    Anyone here likes the cube sence? I like how easy it is to use with the software.

    Just thinking out loud here, maybe strange light reflections? .....may improve if coated in some kinda flat-black? ......looks like that project is going to require some patience:)

    yeah i heard that puffing flour on the item or something like that will dull down reflections and increase quality of the scan.

    maybe dunk it in come copier-toner, lamp-black or if you got connections with the fuzz, some finger-print dust:)

    Rubicon has a software update, looks easier to use. pawn rescan coming soon.

    Add me to the list of being interested in 3d scanning. Do you thing marking up the object would allow for a better scan? For example, putting reference dots or checkered patterns on it. Or does that have no effect because of the method of scanning? I'm just wondering how it compares to something like 123D Catch.
