    Hi,

I've got a 60mm fan to cool the fuses on my RAMPS board and I was wondering if it's possible to use the 3 pin connector which came with the fan to power it via a connection on the RAMPS board? Or should I just wire it straight into the power supply?

    Hi Rusty,
You can plug the 3 pin connector into the two pin 12-Aux connector as long as it fits and you can get the polarity right and the correct two pins on the fan. This should be easy. It might not fit if the fan connector has a latch protruding that hits the adjacent motor driver module. I would just cut off the latch in this case. Just leave the third fan pin unconnected.

You can find the 12V-Aux connector in this connector layout in the lower left side near D2:

The lower terminal should be +12V and the upper Ground. Here is the schematic:

    These are from: http://reprap.org/wiki/RAMPS_1.4 .
Make sure you have a 12V fan.

I used one of these fan holders with the fan mounted on the outside of the holder. It works great, you just have to move the wires around gently to git it to fit.

If you have a bottom plate under your printer, 25 mm thick fan will NOT fit. The deepest fan you can fit will be about 15 mm. I personally use an 120 x 15 mm fan.
