    Any suggestions as to how high the tension should be on the belts? If you pluck your belts what chord do you hit?

    the title should have been high E not high C.

    It shouldn't be very tight. Too tight and you'll cause the stepper motor shaft to bend which will cause buckling and premature motor failure.

    It's a very low note, like a slightly loose bass string.
