Been getting acceptable prints, a few issues on startup but over that now.. got a question about first layer..
The first layer looks like the threads are too small, a space is often between them (especially the first two perimeter threads).

software is right out of the box, using matterslice with defaults.

is there a way to tighten things up so I get better fill on the layers? of when the part is removed, the periimeter threads hang off unattached.

    Thanks in advance.
    Bill.

Hmm you're perhaps a smidge too high. What's your first layer settings?

Set your first layer height to 0.3 and reduce your Z height by 0.1. This will result in the first layer's filament being squashed a bit and filling that gap.

So you're saying Layer Height should be .1 and First Layer Height should be .3?

Well, your layers look good but for being too far apart... so yea... squish it down more.

What I think he means is .. for a .3 layer, bring it down to .2 for first layer.

Also, check your Z offset. Never know if its off. mine tends to a 1.25mm vs 1. My last one was more of a .8.

So leave your normal layer height at 0.2 and set your first layer height to 0.3. Then reduce your Z offset by 0.1. What this will do is print a 0.3 layer for the first layer but because you reduce your Z offset by 0.1 it squashes it into a 0.2 layer height. At least that's how I have it configured in Slic3r.

I think I might have the same problem. What is your setting for Print->Advanced->Extrusion Width->First Layer? (In MC that would be)

I saw the same pattern you've shown above both in prints and in the gcode preview of the first layer in MC.
When I changed from 1 (mm) to 0 (default width) at least the pattern disappeared from the gcode preview.

I haven't printed anything yet but this might be it.

    Regards, Daniel

Out-of-the-box it was 1.0. I crept it down until I got to 0.6 which is now producing awesome prints. Of course then I installed an XXL panel and now I have other problems but that's for another thread.
