Unresolved bed failed melted wire? :0

    ok so my printer has been working great untill recently the bed stoped heating i had a look underneath an this is what i saw it looks like its either broke from moving back and forth constantly or melted wtf is this a easy fix?
    im sure glad i dont leave the printer untended haha

    i also need them little endstop 2pin connector thigs to replace as it has melted also 0_o what are they called

    If it didn't short anything out it could be relatively easy to repair. Have you ever run your bed above 80C?

    I'd start a replacement part request.

    always had it at about 50
    everything else is still working

    That sucks a lot. you can try cutting off the broken section, but if it damaged the ramps board it won't make any difference.

    Start the request and they should take care of you

    will do and i thought all my problems were finaly over heh
    it still moves around screen works lites ect then i just switched it of for now
    so cutting and joining back together ? i havnt seen this type of wire before how would i do it

    There's probably 2-3 layers of insulation on the outside of the wires. Use a blade and carefully slice down the side to reveal the wires, kinda like pealing a banana.

    Best method would be soldering, but you could use crimp connectors as well. If the wire shorted out against the thermistor terminal it most likely damaged something in the circuit.

    Know your limits though. If you don't do it properly it could make the situation much worse.

    i saw it just looked odd heh managed to cut away a clean bit
    may get my dad to help when he comes home knows a bit more about electronics than me

    should they be wrapped back up after to ?

    you don't need to wrap all 4 together but it might be smart. Definitely heatshrink each individual wire

    Using a cable chain will likely prevent this from occurring again as the cable won't be getting dragged back and forth through the hole in the base plate.

    happy to say its working again thanks to dad to.
    ill look into that cable chain idea :) board was ok nothing was damaged im just waiting on the thermistor plug replacement for the bed
    have to say its been a experience i think i have spent more time fixing than using the printer lol i could get angry and annoyed but that wont get me anywhere ill just use my inner voice

    things replaced so far
    new ramps board
    new hotend and cables
    new fans
    theres a 3d shop opening near us soon hmm
