So I just started printing with ABS and everything was running super smoothly, I got a couple really good prints out of it. I was printing at 230 for my extruder and 100 for the bed. I stepped away for a while and when I came back the print was off the bed and it was printing in mid air probably due to warping. I'm trying to print again but for some reason my bed won't heat up that much. It'll start around 26-27 and it'll heat up till 30-31 and says its trying to heat up more but it won't. Any advise on how to fix this?

Does it feel hot at all? Check the connector on the bottom of the bed for damage

When you modified the firmware did you follow my advice to remove the connector and make sure the ramps has sufficient cooling?

I don't think I did remove the connector. How do I make sure the ramps has sufficient cooling?
Also I unplugged and plugged the wires for the bed on the ramps board and now it is heating up no problem.

Did you mod the firmware? It's risky to run it above 85C with that connector. Best to remove it and connect the wires

For the ramps I suggest using lifter feet if you have a bottom cover.

I only had modified the firmware for increasing max extruder temperature when I was installing the e3D. My printer doesn't have a bottom cover. So after removing and re-connecting the wires it works fine again. I just need to make sure that the highest I heat the bed to is about 80C.

I tried a test print after reconnecting the wires and it heated up fine but after the first layer or so the temperature dropped back down to 32C. Not sure why it would do that.

When it does that feel the larger polyfuse. It's probably overheating and tripping off.

Unless an error shows up. Are you using mattercontrol? Keep terminal open.

What would I be looking for on the polyfuse?

yeah it feels like its heating up way too much. At what temperature is the fan on the ramps board supposed to turn on?

The fan on the ramps should be always on. Is it unplugged?

Its plugged in but not on. Is there a G-Code I could enter to test it?

No because it should be plugged into a dedicated 12v source. It's not connected to a digital pin.

Perhaps take a picture where it's plugged in.

Hmmm. It seems I never connected it to the 12V source. Is the 12V source the green or blue box?

Plugged in backwards, flip it 180.

Also move the fan over so it's blowing on the fuse

I flipped it around and it still doesn't go on.

Measure the voltage of the pin just to be sure. Could be a dead fan, did it ever make a loud grinding noise?

Not that I can recall. It could have done that while I was out of the room while it was printing. And the pins read 12V. The fan also reads 12V when it is plugged in.

Hard to know for sure. Try spinning it by hand and seeing if it moves at all. A spun bearing would have a lot of resistance. Might be time to submit a replacement part request

Just for the record the connector is oriented like this?

It spins easily by hand. And I have the connector orientated like that. The fan should start spinning as soon as I turn the machine on correct?
