Unresolved Broken Smaller fan on Printhead out of box

This fan was dangling when I removed the packing. Did it break off or does it go somewhere?

 

Oh, just press it onto the heatsink of the extruder, it's the active cooling for the printer head, not broken just fell off.

When I got mine it was off as well.

 

One of the first things you can print is a better mount. If that thing falls off during a long, unattended print, bad things will happen.

Here is a very good one that uses the same 20mm fan, but is physically mounted to the carriage with an existing screw. It will not fall off, and it is very efficient and low profile. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:436927

I've been using this fan for a few weeks now and I am very happy with it. If you decide to use it, rotate the model so the fan opening is facing up before you print.

 

hmm.. mine screws on.. but my first one was like that out of the box. But everything usta was blue...
Fix it, then print out one of these..http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:681875 or similar.

That tiny fan (if same) is loud as heck. Starts to get to you.

I just have to disassemble the power supply and replace the loud fan in that and I will have a near silent machine.
