Solved Cant remember how to set height of extruder

I have printed a ton of good prints, but its been so long I cannot remember what the deal is, I had to google what software I was even using. (repetier). Anyway...on the LCD, I hit auto home, it goes home and raises extruder. I thought before it went up and down. I can set the extruder on the surface and it always raises too much to print...ideas?
