Just an FYI, Mike's a master. You should be able to run quite a few materials on the stock machine without any mods. The XXL and bed levelers are probably the first things you'll want to add once you do start modding though.

Also when it comes to doing your first print, read through the forums and try and learn as much as you can about the first layer height it is CRITICAL if you are unsure ask us we can definitely help you out. If you do not get that set correctly you will see prints fail often and your frustration will grow. Get it right and you will be amazed how quickly your other skills will develop.

Also make sure you start with PLA and stay with it long enough to become familiar with your printer and to the entire printing process, migrating to other more exotic material like ABS will add complication that will only add confusion that, when you are new, is not really needed.
