Help needed. All it can do is home x and y not even z.

    Dear sirs
I did get the robo3d printer able to find the port and connect to computer. Then i had my first print. It was fine. Everything goes well just not sticking to my bed, so i stopped it half way while processing by killing the project from software. Then ever since that, i am not even able to manually control my axis.
The only function that works is home x and y axis. If i hit home z axis, it just lift up a bit(only going up and never down. And keep going up a bit every time i home the z axis.) Beside the home x, y and a bit up move z, everything else is not working. Heating or extruding or so. The heating reading is always 0 and i cannot even move my axis beside homing them.

If i try to move the axis, it says
    G91
    ok
    G1 F3000
Printer stopped due to error. Fix the error and use M999 to restart...
    G1 Y-10
Printer stopped due to error. Fix the error and use M999 to restart...
    G90
    ok
    M105
    ok T:0.0/0.0B:0.0/0.0 T0.0/0.0 @:0 B@:0

Anyone have clue about what i should do? I tried the printer on another computer and its the same problem. So software should have no problem.

This is due to an open circuit on the switch. 90% of the time this is caused by a wire broken off the switch prong. This is an easy thing to resolder. The other 10% of the time the switch came unplugged from the ramps board

This is due to an open circuit in the thermistor. Again, this is generally always caused by a loose wire on the lead connecting to the thermistor. As thermistors are NTC devices, a reading of 0 means open circuit.

You should follow your thermistor wire coming off the extruder all the way to the ramps board. On some models there may be 3-4 solder points along this wire. You'll want to pull test the wire to make sure it's solidly soldered.

Also verify it's connected to the ramps board properly.

Thx a lot i would try it. Really thx. Tho i am totally new to the printer so i would ask an electrical engineer to check the wire connection. Thx a lot.

Lol you really don't need to be an engineer. This is basic hobbyist stuff.

    Dear Mike
    Thx for your reply.
I have fixed the homing Z axis. It is caused by loose wire.
Now i can home all the axis and plate properly.

However the current temperature reading is still 0 degree.
The connection to the ramp board seems to be fine(plug and unplug for so many times. )

For now i cannot manual control the printing head to any direction. I can only home them but i cannot order them move.

Also during fixing i think the thermistor to the board has fallen out.

Both the bed and head temperature reading are zero. Any way i can fix them? or how i know if they are well connected to the printing head?

I assume that you mean the hotend temps are 0 right?

If your temps are reading 0 then they are not connected somewhere. My normal base temp is around 18C before I start heating.

Connect the Robo to your computer. This way you will know when you have fixed your problem, as you will see an actual temperature reading.

    1. Check the small grey wires coming from the hotend that they are well connected to the big clear plastic connector (which is zip tied to the whole extruder assembly).

    2. If they are good there, you can check the thermistor itself. It is sealed in all the kapton tape around the hotend. It's basically a glass bead with wires in it, and due to the high heat, it is relatively easy to break or crack or melt wires etc.

    3. This may be the most probable, as you were just messing with the wires on the board. Follow the wires that connect to the thermistor to where they attach to the board. A lot of the connections on my board are very loose and sensitive to any movement.

If none of this helps, check back. Mike can usually tell you if you've got a firmware problem or the like.

on the thermistor temps a zero reading is a open circuit --no connection, loose plug, broken wire, etc.
a temp of some very high value usually 300C+ indicates a short in the circuit probably in the thermistor area but could be else where basically two wires are touching somewhere the should not be in the thermistor circuit path
In a normal circuit you should always have a reading because even when the extruder is off it is still sensing room temp and that should be above 0C so a reading of 0 is a definite issue.
