What the heck why not right!?

Name is Mike in NY/NJ area of US. I'm graduating in May with my Bachelors of Fine Arts in Photography and I have always loved to make things. Whether it was legos, and kinects when I was a little kid; to building anything I could come up with out of wood when I was a little older. I love coming up with "things" and I'm the guy everyone turns to when they have an idea but have no clue how to get a final product.

One of my first projects when I get my RoBo will be working on a cheap 3d printed DSLR/Video rig system. I will no doubt be printing 24/7, I think most of what I print will just be "because I can". I have searched thingiverse literally for hours on end, and have started to play with Sketchup designing what I hope will be fun things to print down the road.

Thanks Harry for the headsup, I'm still a student until May so may not be a bad idea. But is it really worth it? What are the big improvements over the free version?

Hey Michael, you just get more for 3D. Look here (Quoted from their site: http://www.sketchup.com/intl/en/product/gsup.html):
SketchUp Pro is 3D modeling software for professionals. SketchUp is easy and intuitive, allowing anyone to model in 3D quickly and accurately. Using 3D models, designers can make more informed decisions, communicate project details, and share ideas with colleagues and customers to reach a common goal

Then also, look at these URL's:
    http://www.sketchup.com/intl/en/product/gsupro.html
    http://www.sketchup.com/intl/en/product/index.html
    Let me know your thoughts!

Looks interesting Thank you Harry! Going to go with the trial and then see, only 1 year subscription, bit of a bummer.

Agreed, but I think you get to keep the software, just no updates after the year. Not sure though, so don't quote me. haha
