    Hi gents

Just getting started with this and I have a couple of questions.

Setup is Robo3D Printer (obviously) ABS version but going to start with PLA. MacBookpro running Repetier-Host Mac version 0.56 (53)

Page 9 - Select the port that matches your USB connection.

    There are 4 options - 1) Virtual Printer. 2) Bluetooth-Incoming-Port. 3) Bluetooth-Modem. 4) USBmodem1411

Which of these should I choose? I went for option 2 because this seemed the only one which would allow me to connect.

Page 18 - Test the Z Axis - Click manual control

OK, I give up - Where is the option to choose "manual control"

You will also notice from this image that I have 5 commands waiting. Is this significant?

    number 4 on the modem
Ok looking on the right side of the pic you see where it say s 5 commands waiting
that is because even though you may be connected you are NOT communicating and that is becasue you chose the wron option as I jsut said use the USB modem and those problems will go away
make sure you set the rate at 250000

running mine from a macmini so we should be able to compare notes easily

OK Tesseract. I have done that and still get nothing from the printer.

When I press connect the log says "Connection opened" but there are "5 commands waiting".

There is a message at the bottom of the screen saying "Unknown printer firm... Waiting for temperature". Is this significant?

Anyone suggest what I do next?

the key point is the "5 commands waiting". Contact me tomorrow morning in about 6-8 hours if you can and we can go over them one by one you still are not talking to the printer for what ever reason. Make sure you are running a single cable to the printer from the computer no hub or extensions. they can cause errors in the communication also I have found. Nothing else can happen until you talk to it and it talks back so that is why you see the unknown printer firmware and waiting for temp messages. They will all go away once ongoing communication is made.

Talking to the printer now and controlling all the axes.

Don't ask me how because I don't know. I just kept turning off and on again. Standard help desk reply stuff.

    May have it now

    1 - Repetier on - check
    2 - USB plugged in - check
    3 - Printer power on - check

Just running through a dry run on Mr Jaws and it seems to be going OK.

Today Mr. Jaws, tomorrow the world :)

I don't know what changed. I think it is just the order I start things. At least I hope it is.

well not to deflate your bubble slight ly but I have repeatedly did those thing I ncompletely random order and can plug or unplug the USB start or restart repetier and turn the printer on or off everything including the LCD panel sync right up however sometimes if I unplug the lcd while everything is on and then plug it back in sometime I need to unplug the USB and cycle the printer but it usually sync ups

the intermittentness is what really bothers me

Just tried the same sequence again and it started OK.

My bubble isn't deflated because I would like it to work in which ever order I do things.

I will keep playing and try and work things out

I hope it continues to work one thing I thought of another user was having problems with the printer just stopping dead mid print and I think it turned out because he had things plugged into a power strip that had another device on it and when that device turned on or off the little spike that went through things caused is connection to be lost I think it was a floor lamp. just trying to list possibilities

My printer and laptop are plugged into the same strip so it is something I will bear in mind.

Oh well, still not connecting consistently.

Seems to only connect when the fish in my aquarium are all facing the same way. ;)

I just hope I can connect next time.
