How come i keep having the layer view fail? I start the generate and it fail every time. Is there something I'm not doing right? It never gets past the slice model part.

Not sure I understand. Are you failing to slice a specific model or all models?
What errors are you seeing the terminal?

Well, MatterControl is not without bugs.
If you really want to pursue that go here:

    https://www.matterhackers.com/community/forum

They write MatterControl and can support it.
If you want to try other software I would suggest repetier host.

Configure your initial Z offset higher, go up in small increments (0.1mm)
