so I downloaded matter control from the Robo3d web site. (previously have been using Repetier and Cura). Got it to work, however.....
how to tell it that I am using PLA or ABS. There does not easily seem to be a way to change temperature profiles. Is the only way to go into advanced settings, and change filament temperatures?

    For printing or manual control?

Mattercontrol needs an external slicer. You can manually adjust the setpoint temperatures in the manual control screen.

Mike, I know I can use either cura or sli3er with matter control.
I'm asking is there an easy way to manage profiles? I.e a profile for abs, a profile for PLA. A profile wth supports, one without, etc..... Profiles for slicing: settings, temps, supports, brim,.....

You can tell it to be PLA or ABS based on the connection settings. You can add a "new" printer for ABS and connect to that one for ABS printing. It's kind of a pain though. I still can't get the program to even heat up my bed or extruder...

Since when do you need a separate slicer? I don't even have a slicer installed, just MC and I've been printing fine.

The RoBo version of MatterControl comes with Slic3r and Cura.

Anyone know what the default PLA print speed settings are for MC? I changed mine thinking that it would "save as" , which it did not, and "revert" would go back to defaults, but that only reverts to the current save.

nevermind - added the same printer to get the defaults and exported them so I can pull them up later, if needed.

There is a little crossed wrench icon near the temp setting where you can click to open a window to change defaults.
