MatterControl 1.1 on Windows 8.1

So I use to run repetierhost on my laptop with mixed results but I could get it going fine software wise. Now I'm using my Surface Pro (Windows 8.1) and would love to use MC to print now. The thing is I can't get it to find the port to connect to the printer. I only have one USB on this thing and it is detecting the connection on the windows side. I've tried running MC in admin mode as I had to install it in admin mode, but it just isn't finding the printer. I have one of the old R1's by the way.

To get around this, I installed Cura 14 and it automatically installs the proper drivers. The easiest way to get the cura software is to go to the Help window in MatterControl and click on the Cura link.
