What is the best way to ensure I have a consistent print bed temp?

I have the R1+ and noticed the actual heater is only under 60ish% of the print area and that the heat is radiating from the X axis. There is no heat on the upper and lower edge of the box on the glass plate that say "hot". Is that normal?

Yes. The heated area is smaller than the printable area:

    Build Plate: 10 x 10"
    Build Volume : 10" x 9" x 8"
    Stock heater is 8.2" x 8.2" (approx)

Is there a good replacement that will give me a larger area?

<shrug> Lots of possibilities -- I will let someone who replaced their entire bed and heater chime in on that.

I never use ABS any longer and never need extreme bed heat.
