After fixing the thermistor I was able to print once with success, but now the printer will just stop what its doing and I have to cancel the print, clean off the bed, and start over again.

I'm using PLA, extruder at 210c and bed at 50c. Software is MatterControl. The printer is hooked up to a fully charged laptop with sleep mode disabled.

The freezing occurs before the first layer is even complete. The progress bar on the software keeps moving as if its still printing.

    3 Things to try:
    1) Something other than MatterControl
    2) Replace USB cable and/or add a powered hub
    3) print directly from SD card rather than slicer (like MC). Slice and stage the GCode on SD card (eliminates USB issues)

P.S. Yes, MatterControl really can be 'that bad'

I've been wanting to get away from MatterControl, but wanted to make sure the printer wasn't the problem before I did that.

I was also under the impression that the onboard SD card printing functionality wasn't implemented. I ordered the reprap xxl screen but it hasn't arrived yet.

I'll try repetier since I already have it installed, wish me luck!

Well, print quality is host of other things to check, but the original issue is usually the software driving it (MC) or the USB ...

I use the OnBoard SD card routinely (just not with MatterControl).

Yeah, what fixed the connection problems for me was to turn down the speed of the print and to use repetier instead of MatterControl. Still having print quality issues, but I've been narrowing them down little by little.

Thanks again! I'd be lost without you guys!!!
