Do I simply disconnect and turn it off with filament still inside??

What is the proper way to do a shut down/cleaning, so each morning I start fresh?

With a PTFE based hot end you don't need to do much of anything. Shut off the power supply then disconnect the USB.

You can remove the filament if you want but there will always be bits of plastic stuck in the nozzle so it doesn't make a major difference.

I heat up the hot end to 200, then wipe the nozzle with a cloth. Takes off any stuff left behind. I keep mine plugged in. I exit Repetier if not using since it's a memory hog and tends to crash other apps. Start 'er up again and connects no problem.

Before printing I do a extrude test to make sure it's a clean stream.
