I've been debating about removing the white cover on the upper part of the printer. I currently have my Z access guide rods attached to it with printed braces and double stick tape so I'm hesitant to remove it without another way to steady the Z access rods. What have other people done?

Never had any top supports on my beta and 99% of the time I just print with it off.
The tallest models I have done have been 8 inches and those were fine at the top end.

Did you using he mod (print better replacement mounts) to strengthen the vertical smooth rods?

No, but I will be installing those with the Threaded rod upgrade.

...Good Point.... I did the threaded rod upgrade, the threaded rods are much stiffer than the 5/16th threaded rods. The smooth rod guides don't have a strong enough mount to compensate for any imperfections in the new threaded rods. I guess I'll have to do the same thing.

while pretty, I question if it's strong enough.

They are twice the size of the stock ones.
Print them out of a sturdy material and you are much better off.
