I'd be interested in a detail spec lists of the RoBo, maybe a BOM?

Thank you Matt. From what I read the Arduino Mega is a quality board.

There are also different versions of the mega 2560, from their Facebook page. It looks like they maybe using the mega 2560 Taurino board. Which is better in my opinion any for future upgrades.

Taurino mega 2560 board is usually white,
    arduino mega 2560 is blue,
then there is the toshudo mega 2560 which is red.

    Hi.

In order to look for a compatible LCD screen with SD card, and 7 months after the last post, which is the model of the control board included in the printer I received yesterday? And which is its firmware?

    Thank you. Manolo.

Edited: I already found the latest firmware.

Can you post a link to the firmware for others can find it too. :)

Does anyone know of if the configuration settings for the R3D firmware is available such that we could recompile the firmware ourselves to re-upload without having to reverse engineer all of the settings onceself?

I'm particularly interested in what the existing firmware settings are for the the HEATED_BED_HEAT_MANAGER heat manager... as well as some other firmware values / configuration settings the R3D uses.

Ahhhhh!!! I get it! I thought that firmware was JUST for addition of an LCD component to the Repetier firmware! {smacks head} and not the full fledged Robo3D firmware! I just never looked at the contents of the zip file as AL of the discussion in the thread was about LCD support. This was totally my n0ob to 3D printing firmware options where I failed to grok that marlin, repetier, and sailfish were various options, as well as others I'm sure... I'm guessing sprinter is another based now on some prior readings which I'm not putting together what was really being discussed. Heck of a steep learning curve!

Anyway, now that I know what I'm looking at, and am reading the RIGHT firmware (had been studying repetier) I'll hopefully have a better basis of understanding what's going on with the machine... Thanks for pointing me in the right direction Ben! :)

Matt the key files are the configuration.h and the configuration_adv.h but mainly the first one these two are the only files you really need to look at the rest are basic function and operations based on these two files. They are in effect what allows a ROBO printer to be a ROBO printer LCD, HEATING, MAX TEMP etc.

Yup, no stranger to Arduino code (or firmware) just wasn't sure which firmware I should have been looking at. Also, I'm looking at the code to see how many of the defines are utilized. I've worked in embedded systems and tested may of them, so I love this stuff. :) It's not terribly difficult stuff just was looking at the wrong firmware previously is all. Now that I'm pointed in the right direction this should be much easier to understand what's going on with the machines in states when things AREN'T working as one expects, and for me to better understand how the printer is configured and what SHOULD happen.

I was a tester for 20+ years in my prior career/life... so it seems I'm bound to break things still. Having access to the code is imperative for me to understand what SHOULD happen, so I know when something is going awry, and to better see what's what for if something might need be changed or bugs found. :)

Have you tried making modification to the settings for the heated bed to change the method of it's operation yet? I'm wondering if the heated bed issues folks are having might be related to those settings... I'm wondering if experimentation has been done yet for changing over some settings like:
Switching over from BIG_BANG / PID over to a PWM method of heating
Reducing the BANG_MAX from 255 to a lower value like maybe 200
    Utilizing the HEATER_BED_DUTY_CYCLE_DIVIDER setting

Also, with the issue with folks having the Z axis back out the nuts on the allthread, is that being caused by multiple G28 calls perhaps and the firmware not detecting that the Z axis is already at home? I had it happen to me once, but the bracket that holds my Z axis home switch was cracked / overtightened by the initial assembler so was somewhat loose and gradually worked itself down... This caused it to slide down on the rod, causing it to lower the printhead onto the glass and on one home it finally was low enough the switch didn't trip, causing the nuts to back out. Was easily fixed, but I'm seeing others have issue with it so am wondering if maybe there's a bug somewhere there in the firmware... I can't experiment currently however other than RTFC to see how this action would be play out. There is the auto-backout once homed of 5mm, but if someone is RIGHT on the edge I can see that not turning off their limit switch potentially and the G28 command causing this by not checking the limit switch in some situations. The planner is one REALLY complicated bit of code tho... and my morphine soaked brain is having trouble following it all without the ability to actually run the code in IDE/debugger... and of course the ol' addage of a million expert opinions not being worth the value of one test keeps looping through the back of my brain too. LOLs
