    Oct 9, 2015 at 10:41 AM - jbigler1986: thanks Mattchu
    Oct 9, 2015 at 10:41 AM - bamhm182: NSFM
Oct 9, 2015 at 10:42 AM - Mattchu: no problem JB. it's why I make the big bu...oh whol am I kidding? I"m below median income in San Diego lol
    Oct 9, 2015 at 10:42 AM - jbigler1986: Nutri Serve Food Management?
    Oct 9, 2015 at 10:43 AM - jbigler1986: National Socialist Freedom Movement?
Oct 9, 2015 at 10:44 AM - jbigler1986: So first movements from zero would all be negative?
    Oct 9, 2015 at 10:44 AM - bamhm182: Not Safe For Mike
Oct 9, 2015 at 10:46 AM - Mike Kelly: sure i'm curious how it came out
Oct 9, 2015 at 10:47 AM - Mattchu: no, all possitve
Oct 9, 2015 at 10:47 AM - Mattchu: all even
    Oct 9, 2015 at 10:47 AM - Mattchu: if you type in G0 x1, y1
Oct 9, 2015 at 10:47 AM - Mattchu: it should read a positive number for x, and a possitive number for Y
Oct 9, 2015 at 10:48 AM - jbigler1986: well if postitive moves Y up and postive moves x to the right wouldn't that crash it?
Oct 9, 2015 at 10:48 AM - jbigler1986: if zero is on the back right?
Oct 9, 2015 at 10:48 AM - Mattchu: in theory
Oct 9, 2015 at 10:48 AM - Mattchu: that's why I said move the machine first and see which way X goes positive and Y goes positive.
Oct 9, 2015 at 10:49 AM - Mattchu: manually move it to the center of the table
Oct 9, 2015 at 10:49 AM - jbigler1986: positive is to the right and up
    Oct 9, 2015 at 10:49 AM - Mattchu: yes
Oct 9, 2015 at 10:49 AM - Mattchu: so the origin should be the left and down
Oct 9, 2015 at 10:49 AM - jbigler1986: so would i need 0 to be in the bottom left then
    Oct 9, 2015 at 10:50 AM - Mattchu: yes
    Oct 9, 2015 at 10:50 AM - jbigler1986: z still the same though
    Oct 9, 2015 at 10:50 AM - Mattchu: correct
Oct 9, 2015 at 10:50 AM - Mattchu: you ever play cowboys and indians as a kid, JB?
    Oct 9, 2015 at 10:50 AM - jbigler1986: got it
Oct 9, 2015 at 10:50 AM - Mattchu: or cops and robbers?
    Oct 9, 2015 at 10:51 AM - jbigler1986: yeah
Oct 9, 2015 at 10:51 AM - Mattchu: remember how'd you make a fist, with your index finger pointed straight ahead, and your thumb pointed up, like a gun?
    Oct 9, 2015 at 10:52 AM - jbigler1986: yeah
Oct 9, 2015 at 10:52 AM - Mattchu: do that now, and then take your middle finger, and point it 90 degrees from your index finger
    Oct 9, 2015 at 10:53 AM - jbigler1986: ok
    Oct 9, 2015 at 10:53 AM - Mattchu: middle finger x, pointer finger y, thumb is z
Oct 9, 2015 at 10:53 AM - Mattchu: pointing in the positives ;)
Oct 9, 2015 at 10:54 AM - jbigler1986: depends on which hand you do it with
    Oct 9, 2015 at 10:54 AM - Mattchu: fair
Oct 9, 2015 at 10:54 AM - Mattchu: left hand
    Oct 9, 2015 at 10:54 AM - jbigler1986: :D
    Oct 9, 2015 at 10:54 AM - jbigler1986: correct
Oct 9, 2015 at 10:54 AM - Mattchu: cause right handed people suck (sorry righties...my rule will be tough, but fair)
Oct 9, 2015 at 10:55 AM - jbigler1986: that should solved my problems
    Oct 9, 2015 at 10:55 AM - jbigler1986: like I said. A total noob
    Oct 9, 2015 at 10:55 AM - Mattchu: you're fine!
Oct 9, 2015 at 10:55 AM - Mattchu: just be safe
Oct 9, 2015 at 10:55 AM - Mattchu: if you're not sure what it's going to do
Oct 9, 2015 at 10:56 AM - Mattchu: run it slow, with a hand over the Estop.
Oct 9, 2015 at 10:56 AM - jbigler1986: router is removed right now
    Oct 9, 2015 at 10:56 AM - jbigler1986: just air testing
    Oct 9, 2015 at 10:56 AM - Mattchu: *nods*
    Oct 9, 2015 at 10:56 AM - Mattchu: oh!
    Oct 9, 2015 at 10:56 AM - Mattchu: here's a good test!
Oct 9, 2015 at 10:56 AM - Mattchu: once you've got your origin set
Oct 9, 2015 at 10:57 AM - Mattchu: how big is your bed?
Oct 9, 2015 at 10:57 AM - Mattchu: and does your machine move in inches or MM?
    Oct 9, 2015 at 10:57 AM - jbigler1986: mm
    Oct 9, 2015 at 10:58 AM - Mattchu: and it's at least 10" wide...
Oct 9, 2015 at 10:58 AM - Mattchu: from origin
Oct 9, 2015 at 10:58 AM - jbigler1986: actual usuable bed area is like 340mm x 480mm or somewhere around there
    Oct 9, 2015 at 10:58 AM - Mattchu: tell it G0 X100 Y100
Oct 9, 2015 at 10:58 AM - jbigler1986: need to double check those numbers
Oct 9, 2015 at 10:59 AM - Mattchu: be ready to shut it off
    Oct 9, 2015 at 10:59 AM - Mattchu: cause it'll fly.
Oct 9, 2015 at 10:59 AM - Mattchu: it should stop
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:00 AM - Mattchu: this is a test to see how it handles rapid positioning.
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:00 AM - Mattchu: and if it will G0 both axis at the same time (or close to it)...or do it one at a time.
    Oct 9, 2015 at 11:00 AM - jbigler1986: I will do that when I get homw
    Oct 9, 2015 at 11:01 AM - Mattchu: okay
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:01 AM - Mattchu: the reason this test is important
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:01 AM - Mattchu: SO very important.
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:01 AM - jbigler1986: i think manual controls or grbl setting is wrong though
    Oct 9, 2015 at 11:01 AM - Mattchu: why's that?
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:02 AM - jbigler1986: 1mm manual movement is way more than 1mm. thinking it's actually in inches
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:02 AM - bamhm182: The new Star Wars Battlefront game looks interesting, from the 5 minutes of playing it I just did. Got a final in a few minutes, so I hopped off it
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:03 AM - jbigler1986: but if i change it to 10 steps of movement it's not 10 inches. Seems like more than 10mm though
    Oct 9, 2015 at 11:03 AM - jbigler1986: i need to measure that
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:04 AM - jbigler1986: move z down and mark it, raise z up and move 10. lower z and measure
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:05 AM - jbigler1986: not sure if that matters or not
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:05 AM - Mattchu: it can
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:05 AM - Mattchu: do you have calipers?
    Oct 9, 2015 at 11:05 AM - jbigler1986: yeah
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:06 AM - Mattchu: easier way to do it is to cut a piece of material just a little bit
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:06 AM - Mattchu: if you cut a box shape
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:06 AM - Mattchu: measure it
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:06 AM - Mattchu: subtract the diameter of the cutter from it
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:06 AM - Mattchu: and you'll be approximately in the ballpark.
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:06 AM - Mattchu: of knowing.
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:08 AM - jbigler1986: so if I make a box 40x40. do I need to add the diameter of the cutter or will the cam calculate it
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:08 AM - Mattchu: ah excellent question. I believe MG said the cam will calculate it
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:08 AM - Mattchu: I'd want to MDI it if I was there...but only because then I'd know for certain what was going down.
    Oct 9, 2015 at 11:10 AM - jbigler1986: http://zapmaker.org/projects/grbl-controller-3-0/grbl-controller-options/
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:10 AM - jbigler1986: I will move it by sending movement command and see if it moves that distance
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:12 AM - Mattchu: pretty much
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:12 AM - Mattchu: it's movement is based from the center of the tool
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:13 AM - Mattchu: so if you measure it, make sure you measure from the same point
    Oct 9, 2015 at 11:13 AM - jbigler1986: got it
    Oct 9, 2015 at 11:13 AM - Mattchu: a neat trick (if it'll fit)
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:13 AM - Mattchu: is to chuck on a sharpie
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:13 AM - Mattchu: and move it
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:13 AM - Mattchu: then measure the ink.
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:13 AM - Mattchu: ink line.

Oct 9, 2015 at 11:13 AM - jbigler1986: say i move it 20mm but measure and it's 30mm. would i need to change axis steps?
    Oct 9, 2015 at 11:14 AM - Mattchu: maybe
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:14 AM - Mattchu: I'd tell it to move 25.4 then
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:15 AM - Mattchu: if you don't have MM measuring equipment (like me))
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:15 AM - Mattchu: then you know it's moved an inch.
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:15 AM - Mattchu: but otherwise, yes, then it's a stepper issue.
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:16 AM - jbigler1986: calipers can measure in mm
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:16 AM - Mattchu: you have digitals?
    Oct 9, 2015 at 11:17 AM - jbigler1986: yep
    Oct 9, 2015 at 11:18 AM - Mattchu: nice!
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:18 AM - Mattchu: all my tools are dial/jeweled lol

Oct 9, 2015 at 11:22 AM - Mattchu: awesome! so you got that one figured out.
    Oct 9, 2015 at 11:26 AM - jbigler1986: it may be 400 actually. lol
    Oct 9, 2015 at 11:26 AM - jbigler1986: reading through that forum
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:33 AM - Mattchu: oh lol
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:34 AM - Mattchu: I couldn't tell you without playing with it.
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:34 AM - Mattchu: it's a combo of lead screws to motor
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:34 AM - jbigler1986: yeah i will just adjust and see
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:36 AM - NFOsec: MK: got lazy, but herer are a few parts shown. I picked up the sheet and they fell out of order. :) [IMG]
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:37 AM - Mattchu: what are you making NFO?
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:37 AM - NFOsec: Chu: Nothing. It's some lasered parts for MK for a Mr. Roboto.
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:38 AM - NFOsec: cost me a week's wages from 1927 to cover that cut out sheet.
    Oct 9, 2015 at 11:40 AM - Mattchu: making a robot?
    Oct 9, 2015 at 11:42 AM - jbigler1986: legit
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:47 AM - NFOsec: MK is. from a link earlier. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:993759
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:48 AM - NFOsec: YEah, I've seen this guy before jb.
    Oct 9, 2015 at 11:48 AM - NFOsec: don't do it.
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:48 AM - Mike Kelly: nice thanks
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:48 AM - NFOsec: I'll drop the tracking info for you when I get back later this afternoon/evening after visiting the Indians.
    Oct 9, 2015 at 11:49 AM - Mattchu: oooh
    Oct 9, 2015 at 11:49 AM - Mattchu: making Krieger's Chokebot, MK?
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:50 AM - Mike Kelly: haha i want to try and make a throw bot
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:50 AM - Mike Kelly: this is the first step
    Oct 9, 2015 at 11:51 AM - Mattchu: awesome!
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:51 AM - Mike Kelly: now to figure out how to export the gcode from ESTLCAM
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:51 AM - Mattchu: okay kids, I gotta get ready for another 10 hour day at work!
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:51 AM - NFOsec: I'd like to make a shaker or bang robot, one that either shakes or bangs on the side of the Robo3D when not cooperating.
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:51 AM - Mike Kelly: woof
    Oct 9, 2015 at 11:51 AM - Mattchu: a Fonzbot, NFO?
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:52 AM - Mike Kelly: i want to make a camera mounted on an arm
    Oct 9, 2015 at 11:52 AM - NFOsec: or a fondlebot.
    Oct 9, 2015 at 11:52 AM - jbigler1986: it exports as a .nc file i believe
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:52 AM - NFOsec: export TO or FROM ESTLCAM?
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:52 AM - Mike Glass: back from lunch
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:52 AM - Mattchu: I'll catch you kids later!
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:52 AM - Mike Kelly: from
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:52 AM - Mike Glass: see ya Matt
    Oct 9, 2015 at 11:52 AM - Mattchu: oh!
    Oct 9, 2015 at 11:52 AM - jbigler1986: see ya matt
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:52 AM - Mattchu: one last question
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:52 AM - Mattchu: the 40W cutter on Ebay
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:53 AM - Mattchu: start with that? yay or nay?
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:53 AM - Mike Kelly: MG perfect timing, can you give me a ELI5 version of how to go from estlcam to repetier
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:53 AM - Mike Glass: go for it MAtt
    Oct 9, 2015 at 11:53 AM - NFOsec: isn't it? http://www.vicious1.com/estlcam-basics/
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:54 AM - Mike Kelly: thanks nfo
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:54 AM - Mike Glass: yea his guide a good start
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:54 AM - NFOsec: LuzerLearningInc.com, time to register it.
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:55 AM - Mike Glass: are you using the newest version 8 MK?
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:55 AM - Mattchu: NFO? your feelings on the 40w? I know it's not as powerful.
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:55 AM - Mike Kelly: yes
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:55 AM - Mike Glass: ok did you select marlin
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:55 AM - Mike Kelly: yup
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:56 AM - Mike Glass: it just removes the crap that you manually had to delete is all but helps.
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:56 AM - NFOsec: For someone who doesn't aspire to do anything "huge" for now, it might do just the job for you. If you really have the money, invest up front, but I look at the 40w as something you could pawn or put aside for your great-great-grandchildren.
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:56 AM - NFOsec: that is if you ever decide to procreate.
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:56 AM - Mike Glass: I hate it because the 40 or some files I have generated wont work with the new version:(
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:57 AM - Mike Kelly: ouch
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:57 AM - Mike Glass: I always PRO Creat something
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:57 AM - NFOsec: remember what I talked about, 1) how thick, 2) how long (lower wattage means possibly slower jobs - not a bad thing), 3) types of materials.
    Oct 9, 2015 at 11:57 AM - NFOsec: MK?
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:58 AM - Mike Glass: My only down fall would be the bed not be able to move down, it was a must for doing the jeans last night.
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:58 AM - NFOsec: damn that dollar store selling me a box of 10 twinkies for $2.
    Oct 9, 2015 at 11:58 AM - Mike Kelly: 3.18mm for a 1/8" bit?
    Oct 9, 2015 at 11:58 AM - NFOsec: why?
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:59 AM - NFOsec: why didn't you just turn the lower right (front right) leg that controls raising and lowering the bed?
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:59 AM - NFOsec: Are the 40w lasers fixed? is there a height restriction?
Oct 9, 2015 at 11:59 AM - Mike Glass: yea it works MK
    Oct 9, 2015 at 12:00 PM - Mike Glass: I meant on the 40w
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:00 PM - daniel871: I'm feeling saucy, so here is a link for the people that complain about filthy links when reading the archives. http://i.imgur.com/RYVpn.gif
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:01 PM - Mike Glass: well look how deep they are compared to the 50. way shallow.
    Oct 9, 2015 at 12:01 PM - daniel871: >:D
    Oct 9, 2015 at 12:01 PM - NFOsec: I still think at least 6-8" clearance I thought.
    Oct 9, 2015 at 12:02 PM - Mattchu: didn't think about clothes
    Oct 9, 2015 at 12:02 PM - Mattchu: *ponders*
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:02 PM - Mattchu: honestly I figured I'd just donate it to our library
    Oct 9, 2015 at 12:02 PM - Mattchu: if I outgrew it
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:02 PM - Mattchu: (yes, our library is awesome like that)
    Oct 9, 2015 at 12:02 PM - Mike Glass: Wtf..lol http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1061981
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:02 PM - Mattchu: but shouldn't it be deep enough for clothes?
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:02 PM - Mattchu: just not big enough for really large cuts
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:03 PM - Mike Kelly: why....
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:03 PM - Mattchu: we'll discuss more tonight...if you kids are awake when I'm home.
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:03 PM - NFOsec: should be.
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:03 PM - Mike Kelly: he needs to clean up his wiring
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:03 PM - Mattchu: at around 1am PST, NFO?

Oct 9, 2015 at 12:04 PM - NFOsec: cloning for 3D printing. nice.
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:04 PM - Mike Glass: that is crazy
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:04 PM - NFOsec: always on ChuMattchu
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:05 PM - Mike Glass: bless chu
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:05 PM - NFOsec: Ah chu know it.
    Oct 9, 2015 at 12:05 PM - NFOsec: Chu can't be wong.
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:05 PM - Mike Glass: hey I want some belching beaver cant get it here.
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:05 PM - daniel871: If the beaver is belching, you might want to stand clear.
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:05 PM - NFOsec: Belching beaver? Is that a form of a redneck hooker?
    Oct 9, 2015 at 12:06 PM - daniel871: 6 of one, half-dozen of the other.
    Oct 9, 2015 at 12:06 PM - Mattchu: that's a shame MG

Oct 9, 2015 at 12:08 PM - Mattchu: cross country
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:08 PM - Mike Kelly: i think you added the n't by mistake
    Oct 9, 2015 at 12:08 PM - NFOsec: n't where?
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:08 PM - Mike Kelly: (Blue Moon is bad)

Oct 9, 2015 at 12:09 PM - NFOsec: he came, he did nothing, and he left.
    Oct 9, 2015 at 12:09 PM - NFOsec: Poof!
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:09 PM - Mike Kelly: what does G00 do?
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:10 PM - NFOsec: Mattchu: I thought Donhuevo posted that.
    Oct 9, 2015 at 12:10 PM - Mike Kelly: go to 0?
    Oct 9, 2015 at 12:10 PM - NFOsec: G00 specifies rapids motion. - G01 specifies feed motion.
    Oct 9, 2015 at 12:10 PM - Mike Kelly: ok so G0 X0 Y0 Z0
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:11 PM - Mike Kelly: says go to 0
    Oct 9, 2015 at 12:11 PM - NFOsec: http://www.cnccookbook.com/CCCNCGCodeG00G01.htm
    Oct 9, 2015 at 12:11 PM - Mike Kelly: then it's G0 Z5, which raises Z by 5
    Oct 9, 2015 at 12:11 PM - NFOsec: That's setting "home" no?
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:12 PM - Mike Kelly: eh i'm gonna go try it
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:13 PM - jbigler1986: as soon as these files are done uploading i am heading out

Oct 9, 2015 at 12:22 PM - NFOsec: MK: I'm going to drone you this. [IMG] and keep the parts for myself. LOL
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:23 PM - NFOsec: or the base plate? [IMG]
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:23 PM - Mike Glass: did you get that from the DG site?
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:23 PM - daniel871: G0 X0 Y0 Z0 means go to zero only if G90 is active. If its G91 is active it won't move at all.
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:23 PM - NFOsec: get what?
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:24 PM - Mike Glass: that
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:24 PM - NFOsec: that what you talkin to me willis?
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:24 PM - daniel871: Also G0 ignores feedrates and moves at max machine speed.
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:25 PM - Mike Glass: what is it NFO
    Oct 9, 2015 at 12:25 PM - NFOsec: It's MK's "laser" robot.
    Oct 9, 2015 at 12:25 PM - NFOsec: MeArm.
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:25 PM - Mike Glass: or is that a bot
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:25 PM - Mike Glass: yourArm?
    Oct 9, 2015 at 12:26 PM - NFOsec: it's a robot part.
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:26 PM - Mike Kelly: lmao
    Oct 9, 2015 at 12:26 PM - NFOsec: www.thingiverse.com/thing:993759
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:26 PM - Mike Glass: oh looks like a bunch of blank cutouts
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:27 PM - NFOsec: it is, that's the cutout pieces left over. I thought I'd send that and let MK draw out them as stencil.
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:27 PM - Mike Glass: its fwyf btw
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:27 PM - Mike Kelly: well the foam test didn't work, too soft, but i did cut some wood
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:27 PM - NFOsec: truth is the rest are in a hatchbox PLA red box, going to drop off at post office on way out.
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:27 PM - Mike Kelly: the machine doesn't move very smoothly which concerns me
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:27 PM - NFOsec: probably have the steps wrong MK.
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:28 PM - Mike Glass: MK it will smooth out, just need to break it in.
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:28 PM - Mike Glass: its the nice coating on the emt
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:28 PM - Mike Kelly: ah
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:28 PM - Mike Kelly: is there some sort of break in sequence you'd recommend?
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:28 PM - Mike Glass: air cutting is what I did.
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:29 PM - Mike Kelly: i guess a good test would be the cut for my vacuum table in the air
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:29 PM - Mike Glass: matt could probably write you code that would cover the entire thing.
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:29 PM - Mike Kelly: or i could just make some dxf
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:29 PM - Mike Glass: yea that would be simple enough
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:30 PM - Mike Glass: turn it up to 165 on your lcd when you do, it will sound sweet
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:30 PM - Mike Glass: if your regular cutting is set to 10
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:30 PM - Mike Glass: that was my sweet spot
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:31 PM - Mike Kelly: hmm i had it on 15 but it made a really bad noise so i should turn that down
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:31 PM - Mike Kelly: you'll see once this video finishes uploading
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:31 PM - Mike Glass: Then keep wiping the down with wd40 on a cloth every time
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:32 PM - Mike Kelly: the conduit?
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:32 PM - Mike Glass: yea every 30 min or so
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:32 PM - Mike Kelly: whoa
    Oct 9, 2015 at 12:32 PM - Mike Kelly: https://www.dropbox.com/s/n3g68bmi8ao7hia/Video Oct 09, 1 27 44 PM.mov?dl=0
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:32 PM - Mike Glass: just to remove the flakes
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:32 PM - Mike Kelly: warning: high pitched squeel
    Oct 9, 2015 at 12:34 PM - jbigler1986: hot glue. nice
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:34 PM - Mike Glass: you should chuck that up a little further.
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:34 PM - Mike Kelly: yup i'm super fancy

    Oct 9, 2015 at 12:36 PM - Mike Kelly: 5/6 and cedar
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:37 PM - Mike Glass: hmm seems odd it would squeal like that with cedar
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:37 PM - Mike Kelly: right? pretty soft wood
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:38 PM - Mike Glass: maybe too fast of rpm

Oct 9, 2015 at 12:39 PM - Mike Glass: can you chuck that up further
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:40 PM - Mike Kelly: i can use a shorter one
    Oct 9, 2015 at 12:40 PM - Mike Kelly: that's one of the 22's
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:40 PM - Mike Kelly: so it's pretty much chucked as far as it can
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:42 PM - Mike Glass: really? hmm mine will go in it seems alot further
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:43 PM - Mike Glass: although you really shouldnt but it works.
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:43 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah chucking on the cutting material is asking for damage
Oct 9, 2015 at 12:44 PM - Mike Kelly: hmm what should i cut next
    Oct 9, 2015 at 12:45 PM - Mike Glass: $1-2 a bit im not concerned..lol

Oct 9, 2015 at 1:06 PM - Mike Kelly: maybe too tight
Oct 9, 2015 at 1:06 PM - Mike Glass: yea you dont want them to tight, I move it to one side and test the long side and make sure it has some slop
    Oct 9, 2015 at 1:09 PM - jbigler1986: belts? what are those
Oct 9, 2015 at 1:09 PM - jbigler1986: jk. cnc should be good to go tonight then i will fix the printer

Oct 9, 2015 at 1:11 PM - Kevin Nguyen: for the e3d screw in thermistor do i have to change the firmware?

    Oct 9, 2015 at 1:19 PM - jbigler1986: machine oil?
Oct 9, 2015 at 1:20 PM - daniel871: Yeah, the stud thermistor that screws in is 1, the ones that ship with the v6 that you have to carefully attach with a screw are 5.
Oct 9, 2015 at 1:20 PM - daniel871: I wonder how well that RTV muffler sealer thing would work with the v6.
    Oct 9, 2015 at 1:20 PM - jbigler1986: i knew there was a 5 one that I used
    Oct 9, 2015 at 1:22 PM - jbigler1986: http://www.cnn.com/2015/10/08/world/teacher-human-anatomy-lesson-irpt/index.html
Oct 9, 2015 at 1:22 PM - daniel871: For attaching the standard thermistor that comes with it.
Oct 9, 2015 at 1:22 PM - Mike Glass: you could use machine oil but that gets spendy.
Oct 9, 2015 at 1:22 PM - jbigler1986: where was that teacher when i was in school
    Oct 9, 2015 at 1:23 PM - daniel871: Probably also in school.

Oct 9, 2015 at 1:25 PM - jbigler1986: i did have a teacher that reminded me of the one from varsity blues
Oct 9, 2015 at 1:25 PM - daniel871: Judging by the number of empty seats in the pictures she was trying to bring up attendance.
Oct 9, 2015 at 1:28 PM - NFOsec: My tracking in conversation. Monday is federal holiday so is there Tuesday
    Oct 9, 2015 at 1:30 PM - jbigler1986: what holiday is monday?

Oct 9, 2015 at 1:31 PM - daniel871: I don't know, but my work decided to give everyone that day off as a random "floating" holiday.
    Oct 9, 2015 at 1:31 PM - jbigler1986: wait
    Oct 9, 2015 at 1:31 PM - jbigler1986: that's november. nevermind

    Oct 9, 2015 at 1:32 PM - jbigler1986: ?
Oct 9, 2015 at 1:32 PM - daniel871: Trying to figure out what the day was for based on advertisements and commentary.
    Oct 9, 2015 at 1:34 PM - daniel871: Lamest holiday ever, apparently.
    Oct 9, 2015 at 1:35 PM - jbigler1986: columbus day
Oct 9, 2015 at 1:37 PM - daniel871: It's a shame Michel Lotito wasn't American, we could change the Holiday to be named after him and make it the holiday for American Gluttony.
    Oct 9, 2015 at 1:37 PM - daniel871: Dude literally ate a Cessna 150.

Oct 9, 2015 at 1:47 PM - jbigler1986: i wouldn't want to eat plastic. let alone all of that stuff
Oct 9, 2015 at 1:49 PM - daniel871: Probably a chemist that figured out how to make all that stuff essentially harmless/inert so that the body didn't absorb it and it just went right on out and thru the sewer pipes.
Oct 9, 2015 at 1:49 PM - Mike Glass: high iron diets are good

Oct 9, 2015 at 2:23 PM - Mike Glass: is it hitting the back
Oct 9, 2015 at 2:24 PM - Mike Kelly: no it's not hitting anything when it first stalls
Oct 9, 2015 at 2:25 PM - Mike Glass: does it bind without the belts on?
Oct 9, 2015 at 2:25 PM - Mike Kelly: uh
Oct 9, 2015 at 2:25 PM - Mike Kelly: what
Oct 9, 2015 at 2:25 PM - Mike Kelly: i can move it by hand but i guess it takes too much torque for it to run through
Oct 9, 2015 at 2:26 PM - Mike Glass: what voltage did you set on the steppers?

Oct 9, 2015 at 2:26 PM - Mike Glass: what is the voltage comming out of the psu say.
    Oct 9, 2015 at 2:27 PM - Mike Kelly: 12
Oct 9, 2015 at 2:28 PM - Mike Kelly: ~4-4.2 on the steppers
Oct 9, 2015 at 2:28 PM - Mike Glass: whoa
Oct 9, 2015 at 2:29 PM - Mike Kelly: i bumped the psu up to 14
    Oct 9, 2015 at 2:29 PM - Mike Kelly: it's still vibrates a lo
Oct 9, 2015 at 2:30 PM - Mike Kelly: but it's not stalling at 200% speed
Oct 9, 2015 at 2:30 PM - Mike Kelly: lemme try again at 100
Oct 9, 2015 at 2:30 PM - Mike Glass: thats way too much power mk
Oct 9, 2015 at 2:30 PM - Mike Glass: over driving them
Oct 9, 2015 at 2:30 PM - Mike Glass: let me see what I was at
Oct 9, 2015 at 2:31 PM - Mike Kelly: i tuned it down to 3
Oct 9, 2015 at 2:32 PM - Mike Kelly: hmm now the steppers are overheating
Oct 9, 2015 at 2:33 PM - Mike Kelly: drivers
Oct 9, 2015 at 2:33 PM - Mike Glass: yea thats is still too much
Oct 9, 2015 at 2:34 PM - Mike Glass: trying to find my settings
Oct 9, 2015 at 2:35 PM - Mike Glass: you need them to read .285 for a single stepper, .582 for 2 steppers.
Oct 9, 2015 at 2:35 PM - Mike Glass: hope you didnt burn them to a crisp
Oct 9, 2015 at 2:37 PM - Mike Kelly: where are you reading from
Oct 9, 2015 at 2:37 PM - Mike Kelly: why does it work fine fast but slow it stalls, that's so frustrating
Oct 9, 2015 at 2:38 PM - Mike Glass: hook your voltmeter up in DC mode, black to the black power wire, red to the pot itself.
Oct 9, 2015 at 2:38 PM - Mike Glass: or black to the ground wire on the pot
Oct 9, 2015 at 2:38 PM - Mike Glass: er driver
Oct 9, 2015 at 2:40 PM - Mike Glass: I wouldnt go above 165, that may be pushing it on your size.
    Oct 9, 2015 at 2:41 PM - Mike Kelly: i set it to 300
Oct 9, 2015 at 2:41 PM - Mike Kelly: that worked
Oct 9, 2015 at 2:41 PM - Mike Kelly: looks like it's working now at 100
Oct 9, 2015 at 2:41 PM - Mike Kelly: but it's almost done with the sequence
Oct 9, 2015 at 2:42 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm still getting the vibration though
Oct 9, 2015 at 2:45 PM - Mike Glass: you using 1/16 or 1/8 stepping?
    Oct 9, 2015 at 2:47 PM - Mike Kelly: no i don't think so
Oct 9, 2015 at 2:48 PM - Mike Glass: you did 8825 drivers?
    Oct 9, 2015 at 2:49 PM - Mike Kelly: yes\
Oct 9, 2015 at 2:49 PM - Mike Kelly: btw i was measuring from the wrong spot before, running at around .9v
Oct 9, 2015 at 2:51 PM - Mike Glass: still little high
    Oct 9, 2015 at 3:01 PM - Mike Glass: now thats a sweet machine..lol
Oct 9, 2015 at 3:07 PM - Arturo Lopez Uscanga: Does anyone know what PowerSupply the R1 uses. I can't seem to get my printer to stay at temp and my lights flicker every time it attempts preheat
Oct 9, 2015 at 3:09 PM - Mike Glass: just a standard psu, I can find you a link
Oct 9, 2015 at 3:09 PM - Arturo Lopez Uscanga: That would be awesome! Thanks Mike Glass

Oct 9, 2015 at 3:12 PM - Arturo Lopez Uscanga: Thank you Mike Glass o_O Let's hope this gets the damn thing up and running again.
Oct 9, 2015 at 3:13 PM - Mike Glass: just make sure you adjust to 12 volts sometimes they are not exactly
Oct 9, 2015 at 3:13 PM - Mike Glass: there is an ajustment pot by the screws. good luck
Oct 9, 2015 at 3:16 PM - Mike Kelly: i think i need a new roller block for this left Y axis
Oct 9, 2015 at 3:16 PM - Mike Kelly: none of the bearings are contacting the conduit
    Oct 9, 2015 at 3:16 PM - Mike Kelly: well 1 is
Oct 9, 2015 at 3:17 PM - Mike Glass: I have a few that one does not touch all the way, but I just loosen and retighten.
Oct 9, 2015 at 3:18 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah i probably need to do that
Oct 9, 2015 at 3:18 PM - Mike Glass: there is some adjustment but not much.
Oct 9, 2015 at 3:19 PM - Mike Glass: thats where it is flawed though.
Oct 9, 2015 at 3:26 PM - Mike Glass: headed to HD then home.
Oct 9, 2015 at 3:27 PM - Sims Reaper: Hey guys, I just thought I'd upload my design for a clip for a gas pump nozzle. For the times when your pump doesnt have a latch anymore, and you dont want to just stand there like a knob for 3 min.
Oct 9, 2015 at 3:28 PM - Sims Reaper: Gas Nozzle Clip
Oct 9, 2015 at 3:31 PM - Sims Reaper: It works pretty good. I have a few made up.
Oct 9, 2015 at 3:31 PM - Sims Reaper: [IMG]
Oct 9, 2015 at 3:31 PM - Sims Reaper: [IMG]
Oct 9, 2015 at 3:48 PM - Sims Reaper: I do have a question though... Does anyone here know a good command for the Robo to "present part" at the end of the print. It should be G28 X0 Y"something"
Oct 9, 2015 at 3:49 PM - Sims Reaper: Not sure what Y number to use, as 0, the home command goes the wrong way
Oct 9, 2015 at 4:32 PM - jbigler1986: ok. so i move it 1mm and it goes 10mm. move it 10mm and it goes 100mm. Do i need to change the microstepping on the 8825 drivers?
    Oct 9, 2015 at 5:40 PM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
    Oct 9, 2015 at 5:40 PM - jbigler1986: Finally
Oct 9, 2015 at 5:44 PM - NFOsec: WHAT THE HELL?
Oct 9, 2015 at 5:49 PM - jbigler1986: Micro stepped it and changed steps to 1200. Measured and adjusted like 100
    Oct 9, 2015 at 5:49 PM - jbigler1986: Times
Oct 9, 2015 at 5:50 PM - NFOsec: sick as it may be, it's an effort. LOL
Oct 9, 2015 at 5:56 PM - Mike Glass: im back
    Oct 9, 2015 at 5:57 PM - NFOsec: O MG.
Oct 9, 2015 at 5:57 PM - NFOsec: dibs on front.
Oct 9, 2015 at 5:58 PM - Mike Glass: had to blow out the sprinkers, change the water filter, change the heating filter, im beat
Oct 9, 2015 at 5:58 PM - Mike Glass: oh now its dinner time..lol bbl
Oct 9, 2015 at 5:58 PM - NFOsec: blow out the sprinklers? is that key for visiting the porcelain Gods?
    Oct 9, 2015 at 5:58 PM - jbigler1986: Lol. Could be
Oct 9, 2015 at 5:59 PM - NFOsec: yeah, the boy is bringing in a pizza, so going to eat, bbiaf.
Oct 9, 2015 at 5:59 PM - NFOsec: jbig: stuff starting to look good.
    Oct 9, 2015 at 5:59 PM - jbigler1986: Finally
Oct 9, 2015 at 5:59 PM - NFOsec: can't wait until tomorrow to get my fan and start some semi flex jobs the right way.
Oct 9, 2015 at 5:59 PM - jbigler1986: Going to do something in wood in a few
Oct 9, 2015 at 5:59 PM - NFOsec: shoved a nice brass rod up the ass of the filament hole.
Oct 9, 2015 at 5:59 PM - NFOsec: just make sure they're secured.
    Oct 9, 2015 at 6:00 PM - jbigler1986: Lol
Oct 9, 2015 at 6:00 PM - NFOsec: ok. bbiaf.
Oct 9, 2015 at 6:23 PM - Mike Glass: any luck JB?
    Oct 9, 2015 at 6:29 PM - jbigler1986: Haven't started it yet
    Oct 9, 2015 at 6:29 PM - Mike Glass: that was 30 min ago..lol
    Oct 9, 2015 at 6:36 PM - Mike Kelly:

Oct 9, 2015 at 6:37 PM - Mike Glass: I showed that to my timber guy, he drooled..
Oct 9, 2015 at 6:40 PM - Mike Glass: neat [IMG]
Oct 9, 2015 at 6:53 PM - PeterkSharma: thats a neat chess set
Oct 9, 2015 at 6:57 PM - Mike Glass: Yea Aaron Brown created that.
Oct 9, 2015 at 6:58 PM - PeterkSharma: have yall see this?
    Oct 9, 2015 at 6:58 PM - PeterkSharma: http://basdebruijn.com/2014/05/additive-wire-laying/
Oct 9, 2015 at 6:58 PM - PeterkSharma: its a 3d orinter that lays and embedded copper wire iin it
Oct 9, 2015 at 7:01 PM - Mike Kelly: neat
Oct 9, 2015 at 7:08 PM - jbigler1986: yeah i got busy trying to clean stuff up first
    Oct 9, 2015 at 7:08 PM - jbigler1986: almost ready
Oct 9, 2015 at 7:23 PM - daniel871: Well. I added a fan to the primary extruder stepper and wired it into the psu.
Oct 9, 2015 at 7:25 PM - daniel871: It was putting enough heat thru to the shaft/drive gear to soften the pla filament five or six hours into printing so I'm trying that to see if it stops that from happening.
Oct 9, 2015 at 7:26 PM - daniel871: Figure if it works and I start getting finished prints now I'll get another fan for the other extruder when I decide to dual print again.
Oct 9, 2015 at 8:22 PM - NFOsec: better off laser cutting the base, CNC routing the sides, and 3D printing the wierd people.
Oct 9, 2015 at 8:26 PM - Mike Glass: ? for what NFO

Oct 9, 2015 at 8:27 PM - Mike Glass: oh the chess board?
    Oct 9, 2015 at 8:37 PM - NFOsec: yeah.
Oct 9, 2015 at 8:37 PM - NFOsec: you know, have all the tools.
    Oct 9, 2015 at 8:37 PM - NFOsec: :)
Oct 9, 2015 at 8:40 PM - Mike Glass: In in the shop painting
Oct 9, 2015 at 8:40 PM - NFOsec: that's cool. spray, hand, huffing?
Oct 9, 2015 at 8:45 PM - NFOsec: So, I just noticed that the green wire is not connected to the white 6-pin connector.
Oct 9, 2015 at 8:45 PM - NFOsec: is that going on the last hole?
Oct 9, 2015 at 8:45 PM - NFOsec: looks like red - space - blue - black - space - space right now.
Oct 9, 2015 at 8:46 PM - NFOsec: stepper motor clip.
    Oct 9, 2015 at 8:46 PM - NFOsec: shit.
Oct 9, 2015 at 8:47 PM - Mike Glass: Now what
Oct 9, 2015 at 8:49 PM - NFOsec: see above, one wire to the stepper motor (green) is sitting bare.
Oct 9, 2015 at 8:49 PM - NFOsec: I think it goes into the last slot (seems to have a wire crimp in that slot.
Oct 9, 2015 at 8:49 PM - NFOsec: looking for the wiring schema
Oct 9, 2015 at 8:49 PM - NFOsec: but thanks for the vote of confidence : "Now what".
Oct 9, 2015 at 8:51 PM - Mike Glass: lol
Oct 9, 2015 at 8:52 PM - Mike Glass: just concerned
Oct 9, 2015 at 8:52 PM - NFOsec: well, I am, need to know where that wire goes.
Oct 9, 2015 at 8:52 PM - NFOsec: I HATE working with very small wires with a passion.
Oct 9, 2015 at 8:52 PM - Mike Glass: its on the stepper?
    Oct 9, 2015 at 8:53 PM - Mike Glass: need a pic
Oct 9, 2015 at 8:53 PM - NFOsec: yeah, I pulled the clip out (it's the one that goes into the extruder stepper)
Oct 9, 2015 at 8:53 PM - Mike Glass: ok on sec
Oct 9, 2015 at 8:54 PM - NFOsec: stated above, was red - space - blue - black - space - space, assuming the last space might be the green wire.
Oct 9, 2015 at 8:54 PM - NFOsec: just don't tell me to cut the blue wire, mcgyver said 9 out of 10 times that results in an explosion.
Oct 9, 2015 at 8:54 PM - NFOsec: oh, that might have been MacGruber from Saturday Night Live.
Oct 9, 2015 at 8:57 PM - Mike Glass: [IMG]
Oct 9, 2015 at 8:59 PM - NFOsec: so it's green out on the end.
    Oct 9, 2015 at 8:59 PM - NFOsec: ok.
Oct 9, 2015 at 8:59 PM - NFOsec: boy, it wasn't even stripped out and only had 2 strands in it. need to strip, crimp, and roll.
Oct 9, 2015 at 8:59 PM - NFOsec: thanks Sir.
Oct 9, 2015 at 9:00 PM - NFOsec: so, I'm thinking about cutting some cross-fit (you know, 2 pieces that slide into perpendicular fit) chess pieces out of clear acrylic and black acrylic.
Oct 9, 2015 at 9:01 PM - NFOsec: I cut out a box for my Raspberry Pi 2 B+ boards, turned out well, never thought about doing that b4.

    Oct 9, 2015 9:01 PM - NFOsec: X <-- chess pieces where 2 pieces cross like that.
Oct 9, 2015 9:01 PM - Mike Glass: neat that will be cool
Oct 9, 2015 9:02 PM - Mike Glass: I saw somebody cut some a laser that they cut them twice on by turning the first cut, was really neat
    Oct 9, 2015 9:05 PM - NFOsec: that's cool.
Oct 9, 2015 9:05 PM - NFOsec: as long as you have a reference point established, it's easy enough eh?
Oct 9, 2015 9:05 PM - NFOsec: wow, I don't know how I get this wire in there and keep it there.
Oct 9, 2015 9:05 PM - NFOsec: tight ass mutha.
Oct 9, 2015 9:09 PM - Mike Glass: might have to pull some slack through the wire covering.
Oct 9, 2015 9:11 PM - Kevin Nguyen: which of these fits the e3d v6??
    Oct 9, 2015 9:11 PM - Kevin Nguyen: http://www.toybuilderlabs.com/products/wear-resistant-nozzles
Oct 9, 2015 9:12 PM - NFOsec: It's going to suck because the clip itself doesn't allow me to drop the green inside. It's almost like I'd have to strip all of them out and put on a new clip.
    Oct 9, 2015 9:12 PM - jbigler1986: Got her all setup
    Oct 9, 2015 9:13 PM - NFOsec: I don't have the micro-vision for that crap.
Oct 9, 2015 9:13 PM - jbigler1986: Z I needed to lower the voltage BC it was skipping. This test will be done in a minute
Oct 9, 2015 9:16 PM - Mike Glass: get on your jewlers glasses..lol
Oct 9, 2015 9:17 PM - NFOsec: yeah, it's unfortunate because it's so small/fine. I'll have to find the jeweler pliers to pull out whatever crud is in there or simply get new clip. *sigh*
    Oct 9, 2015 9:17 PM - NFOsec: jb: I guess you've been determined for a while eh?
    Oct 9, 2015 9:18 PM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
    Oct 9, 2015 9:19 PM - NFOsec: good deal.
Oct 9, 2015 9:20 PM - NFOsec: So, what style is the Robo R1++ nozzle compatible with MK6, MK8, MK10, etc?
    Oct 9, 2015 9:21 PM - jbigler1986: You can use hex nozzle on the e3d v6 I believe
Oct 9, 2015 9:22 PM - NFOsec: I was referring to Kevin's posting advertising Toymaimer.
    Oct 9, 2015 9:28 PM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
Oct 9, 2015 9:28 PM - NFOsec: "I'm aware..."; "I thought you said your name was Kurt".
Oct 9, 2015 9:29 PM - NFOsec: how is the house looking now that most of your ceiling tiles are missing?
    Oct 9, 2015 9:29 PM - jbigler1986: that's my stepdads name
Oct 9, 2015 9:31 PM - jbigler1986: will start a wood project in the morning

Oct 10, 2015 5:55 AM - Bill Monroe: gads, my citrus trees are *really* giving off that dawn citrus odor

Oct 10, 2015 6:05 AM - JeffTheMess: so you done with your cnc JB
Oct 10, 2015 6:05 AM - Bill Monroe: i get mine from a pro shop on line
Oct 10, 2015 6:11 AM - jbigler1986: Yep jeff. She is up and running
Oct 10, 2015 6:12 AM - jbigler1986: Z axis was skipping steps so I have to turn the voltage way down. She is good now. Also finding the right steps was a huge pain

    Oct 10, 2015 6:26 AM - Mike Glass: Morning
Oct 10, 2015 6:27 AM - JeffTheMess: just notice its the same half smh...
Oct 10, 2015 6:27 AM - Mike Glass: aw you sliced it in half,
    Oct 10, 2015 6:27 AM - Mike Glass: lol
Oct 10, 2015 6:28 AM - Mike Glass: is the a wipe tower your doing?
Oct 10, 2015 6:29 AM - JeffTheMess: got up early to get that done while had to get ready for work and walk the dog
    Oct 10, 2015 6:29 AM - JeffTheMess: its a gilder
Oct 10, 2015 6:30 AM - Mike Glass: yes I see that. what is the other tall structure its printing besides the wing?
Oct 10, 2015 6:30 AM - JeffTheMess: support for the wing tip
    Oct 10, 2015 6:30 AM - Mike Glass: gotacha
Oct 10, 2015 6:31 AM - JeffTheMess: well i guess my daughter will have two gliders
Oct 10, 2015 6:31 AM - Mike Glass: probably should of done brim to hold them being that tall
Oct 10, 2015 6:32 AM - JeffTheMess: oh dont worry I put a gallon of aquanet, plus i wanted to see how high I can print without brim
Oct 10, 2015 6:33 AM - Mike Glass: i can see it wobble, how did you make it hollow?
Oct 10, 2015 6:34 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah hollow, the support didnt stick well
    Oct 10, 2015 6:35 AM - Bill Monroe: you have S3D Jeff?
    Oct 10, 2015 6:36 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah
Oct 10, 2015 6:37 AM - Bill Monroe: i've found with part like those that if you use seperate processes and progressive printing the hairs really diminish
Oct 10, 2015 6:38 AM - JeffTheMess: I will try that with the other half
Oct 10, 2015 6:38 AM - Bill Monroe: since the nozzle stays on one part for awhile before trucking off to do another one
Oct 10, 2015 6:39 AM - JeffTheMess: Will do, thanks
Oct 10, 2015 6:39 AM - Mike Glass: are you doing z hop?
    Oct 10, 2015 6:39 AM - JeffTheMess: just hope it....glides
Oct 10, 2015 6:40 AM - Bill Monroe: turning down the temp is the tribal mantra for the chat nanny, but that often has an adverse effect on inter-layer strength
Oct 10, 2015 6:40 AM - Bill Monroe: I do Z-hop at the soda shop on friday nights
Oct 10, 2015 6:41 AM - Mike Glass: carefull you might through something out.
    Oct 10, 2015 6:42 AM - Bill Monroe: I sure hope so
Oct 10, 2015 6:42 AM - Bill Monroe: if I didnt, I wouldnt have been trying hard enough :)
Oct 10, 2015 6:44 AM - Mike Glass: wondering because z hop makes crazy strings like that.
Oct 10, 2015 6:45 AM - Bill Monroe: a little retraction could help
Oct 10, 2015 7:01 AM - Bill Monroe: How old is your girl, Jeff?
    Oct 10, 2015 7:03 AM - JeffTheMess: she 4
Oct 10, 2015 7:04 AM - Bill Monroe: ahh nice so much fun

Oct 10, 2015 7:05 AM - JeffTheMess: I modified the glider to fit a propeller and rubber band
Oct 10, 2015 7:13 AM - Mike Glass: balsa gliders are fun, need to find some balsa to cut, kids would love that.
Oct 10, 2015 7:32 AM - JeffTheMess: hard to find in stores
Oct 10, 2015 7:41 AM - Mike Glass: balsa wood?
Oct 10, 2015 7:45 AM - daniel871: Yep, active cooling worked. Ordering some more 40mm fans to go ahead and put on the rest of the steppers.
Oct 10, 2015 7:46 AM - Mike Glass: why they getting so hot?
Oct 10, 2015 7:49 AM - Mike Glass: check your drivers if they have too much voltage it could overheat the steppers.

    Oct 10, 2015 7:52 AM - jbigler1986: Final test complete
Oct 10, 2015 8:02 AM - NFOsec: What material is that jb?
    Oct 10, 2015 8:03 AM - jbigler1986: Just some project foam
Oct 10, 2015 8:04 AM - jbigler1986: Aspire makes easy work of just taking a jpg and converting it
Oct 10, 2015 8:04 AM - NFOsec: yeah, V-carve similarly, but Aspire lets youc omponent build nicely.
Oct 10, 2015 8:07 AM - jbigler1986: Yeah some really good editing options
Oct 10, 2015 8:09 AM - Mike Glass: be carefull you may wear that bit out on that foam..lol
Oct 10, 2015 8:10 AM - NFOsec: actually, I'm more worried about the memory foam stuff -- will it restore itself to its' original form when done? Then it would look like a figment of your imagination.
Oct 10, 2015 8:10 AM - NFOsec: OR, perhaps the bit will then refuse to work with harder materials because it's gotten used to the soft life.
Oct 10, 2015 8:10 AM - Mike Glass: oh yea that could happen too..lol
Oct 10, 2015 8:11 AM - NFOsec: either way, damaging to your credibility as an artist and tinkerer.
    Oct 10, 2015 8:12 AM - donhuevo: morning
Oct 10, 2015 8:12 AM - Mike Glass: just finished this for a customer. [IMG]
    Oct 10, 2015 8:12 AM - NFOsec: eggs!
Oct 10, 2015 8:12 AM - Mike Glass: Hey don
Oct 10, 2015 8:12 AM - NFOsec: "laser" work MG?
Oct 10, 2015 8:12 AM - Mike Glass: na cnc
    Oct 10, 2015 8:13 AM - NFOsec: what's the excuse?
Oct 10, 2015 8:13 AM - Mike Glass: too big for the laser
Oct 10, 2015 8:13 AM - NFOsec: oh, so you made the mistake of buying a small "laser".
    Oct 10, 2015 8:13 AM - NFOsec: lol.
Oct 10, 2015 8:13 AM - Mike Glass: pretty much
Oct 10, 2015 8:14 AM - NFOsec: pop-signage works well when you raise the kodiak/leTigre up another level, those would have been laserable or CNC'd.
Oct 10, 2015 8:14 AM - NFOsec: but, very nice nonetheless.
Oct 10, 2015 8:14 AM - Mike Glass: it was routed before I actually got the laser
Oct 10, 2015 8:14 AM - NFOsec: wah wah wah.
Oct 10, 2015 8:15 AM - NFOsec: would you like some cheese to go with that whine.
Oct 10, 2015 8:15 AM - Mike Glass: I have not cost into other than my time, so its all good.
Oct 10, 2015 8:15 AM - NFOsec: How are you doing donheuvo?
    Oct 10, 2015 8:16 AM - donhuevo: doing alright.
Oct 10, 2015 8:16 AM - Mike Glass: Don probably has a cnc now too
    Oct 10, 2015 8:16 AM - donhuevo: no sir
Oct 10, 2015 8:16 AM - NFOsec: don may, CNC = can not count
    Oct 10, 2015 8:16 AM - NFOsec: CNC = Creative Nerd Corner
Oct 10, 2015 8:17 AM - Mike Glass: is that like CRS
    Oct 10, 2015 8:17 AM - NFOsec: don't know. I don't have that.
    Oct 10, 2015 8:17 AM - NFOsec: lol
Oct 10, 2015 8:19 AM - donhuevo: brb... time to drop Marvin off at the pool
Oct 10, 2015 8:19 AM - Mike Glass: or you cant remember if you you do or not
    Oct 10, 2015 8:19 AM - Mike Glass: lol
Oct 10, 2015 8:20 AM - Mike Glass: coffee must be doing its job
Oct 10, 2015 8:25 AM - donhuevo: yep... Marvin is a swimming fool
Oct 10, 2015 8:25 AM - NFOsec: is that a child or dog?
Oct 10, 2015 8:26 AM - donhuevo: the better question is where is the pool
    Oct 10, 2015 8:26 AM - NFOsec: gotcha.
Oct 10, 2015 8:27 AM - Mike Glass: pretty sure its porcelain
    Oct 10, 2015 8:27 AM - NFOsec: oh? a Princess?
    Oct 10, 2015 8:27 AM - donhuevo: more of a throne
    Oct 10, 2015 8:28 AM - NFOsec: <Jerry Seinfeld> Not that there is anything wrong with that </Jerry Seinfeld>
Oct 10, 2015 8:28 AM - NFOsec: ah. Pedestal Pusher.
Oct 10, 2015 8:29 AM - NFOsec: well, I wouldn't trade the midgets for anything, even though they're 18/20 now.
Oct 10, 2015 8:29 AM - donhuevo: so I see jb's got his cnc running. very cool
Oct 10, 2015 8:29 AM - NFOsec: yeah, he's been sniffing foam dust for the last 2 days, seems to help.
Oct 10, 2015 8:30 AM - NFOsec: <-- needs to go to another dollar store today to stock up on things.
Oct 10, 2015 8:30 AM - NFOsec: glass things that is.
Oct 10, 2015 8:30 AM - donhuevo: I just found loctite gel super glue at the dollar store yesterday
Oct 10, 2015 8:30 AM - Mike Glass: how much was it?
Oct 10, 2015 8:31 AM - donhuevo: didn't pay any attention, sorry. I had just run out and needed to re glue a bed magnet
    Oct 10, 2015 8:31 AM - Mattchu: morning everyone!
Oct 10, 2015 8:31 AM - Mattchu: grats on working CNC router, JB!
Oct 10, 2015 8:31 AM - NFOsec: oh, on eBay, you'll never believe tehis, I got a 70-pack of super glue for $2. Each were wrapped in 12 tubes in aluminum bubble wrap, probably wholesale approach.
Oct 10, 2015 8:31 AM - donhuevo: morning Matt... bless you
    Oct 10, 2015 8:32 AM - NFOsec: Matchuta! Jamba!
Oct 10, 2015 8:32 AM - Mattchu: thank you...surprise I"m awake. 10 hour days are rough when you don't do them for a while
Oct 10, 2015 8:33 AM - NFOsec: haha... MG, that's an example of a soft bit I was talking about.
Oct 10, 2015 8:33 AM - donhuevo: I'd probably still be in bed if one of the pharmacies didn't start calling me at 8:30 this morning
Oct 10, 2015 8:34 AM - NFOsec: well, make sure you take those drugs.
    Oct 10, 2015 8:34 AM - donhuevo: will do
Oct 10, 2015 8:34 AM - Mike Glass: what is this damn siliconeadhesive sealant they gave with the laser for?
Oct 10, 2015 8:35 AM - NFOsec: I told you man, when you replace the tubing connecting to the "laser" tube, you need that to SEAL ER UP.
    Oct 10, 2015 8:35 AM - NFOsec: damn you!
    Oct 10, 2015 8:35 AM - NFOsec: <Kevin O'Leary> You're dead to me </Kevin O'Leary>
Oct 10, 2015 8:35 AM - Mike Glass: why would I replace the tubing?
Oct 10, 2015 8:35 AM - NFOsec: if you replace the tube duh?
Oct 10, 2015 8:36 AM - Mattchu: whoa NFO, you're acting pretty caulky right now. tone it down ;)
Oct 10, 2015 8:36 AM - NFOsec: replace doesn't mean literally, it means like you take it off, you put it back on again.
Oct 10, 2015 8:36 AM - NFOsec: sort of like the failed condoms you know of.
Oct 10, 2015 8:36 AM - Mike Glass: Or is for leaks
    Oct 10, 2015 8:36 AM - Mattchu: ...I'm a horrible person.
Oct 10, 2015 8:37 AM - NFOsec: Matt: My apologies Fr. Mayii, I'm a horrible person.
    Oct 10, 2015 8:37 AM - NFOsec: Leaks -- that's a good one.
Oct 10, 2015 8:37 AM - Mike Glass: So that pool of water on my floor may be an idication of a leak.
Oct 10, 2015 8:37 AM - NFOsec: really clever use of critical thinking skills there my friend.
Oct 10, 2015 8:37 AM - NFOsec: no, it's probably because your pet is blind and picked the warmest place to go.
    Oct 10, 2015 8:38 AM - donhuevo: NFO... have a Snickers [IMG]
Oct 10, 2015 8:38 AM - NFOsec: just make sure nothing seeps into the ventilation tube from outside -- I mistakenly thought an approach I used would be good for the end cap, turns out high wind storms with rain allowed water in.
Oct 10, 2015 8:38 AM - NFOsec: I did in fact have water on the floor.
Oct 10, 2015 8:38 AM - NFOsec: but the good thing was it wasn't a sealed tight ventilation solution at the time (before going PVC.
    Oct 10, 2015 8:39 AM - NFOsec: )
Oct 10, 2015 8:39 AM - Mike Glass: yea I reomove my vent when im not using it.
Oct 10, 2015 8:39 AM - NFOsec: Thanks donhuevo. I preferred this one.

Oct 10, 2015 8:40 AM - NFOsec: or you can always use a damper.
Oct 10, 2015 8:41 AM - Mike Glass: wonder if they make one for the 6"
    Oct 10, 2015 8:41 AM - NFOsec: sure do.
Oct 10, 2015 8:42 AM - NFOsec: send me a money order for $29995 and I'll send you a flimsy Chinese manufacturered, Korean quality inspected, Indian developed, and USA invented version -- a plastic mudflap with postit tab hinges.
Oct 10, 2015 8:42 AM - donhuevo: put a servo on the damper and add a little code to your start and end gcode
Oct 10, 2015 8:43 AM - NFOsec: yeah, that would be easy enough.
    Oct 10, 2015 8:43 AM - NFOsec: or a remote control.
Oct 10, 2015 8:43 AM - NFOsec: 2 slots open for additional steppers.
    Oct 10, 2015 8:43 AM - Mike Glass: [IMG]
Oct 10, 2015 8:44 AM - NFOsec: not bad, but how long does it stay sunny?
Oct 10, 2015 8:45 AM - Mike Glass: oh sunny boy, as long as the sun is up
Oct 10, 2015 8:46 AM - NFOsec: This is a little hilarious. [IMG]
Oct 10, 2015 8:47 AM - NFOsec: talk about capitalizing on the Future of Islamabomber
Oct 10, 2015 8:48 AM - Mike Glass: what to make today?
Oct 10, 2015 8:48 AM - NFOsec: OMG - [IMG] what a party joke favor.
Oct 10, 2015 8:48 AM - donhuevo: maybe make a Marvin while you're thinking about what to make
Oct 10, 2015 8:49 AM - Mike Glass: did that already.
Oct 10, 2015 8:49 AM - NFOsec: MG: I should be getting the fan in about 5-30 minutes. then, I have to embark on getting that green wire into the clip.
Oct 10, 2015 8:49 AM - Mike Glass: just dont cut the blue wire:)
Oct 10, 2015 8:49 AM - NFOsec: maybe go drone flying...
Oct 10, 2015 8:50 AM - Mike Glass: you dont need the green wire anyways, its just for retraction direction..lol
Oct 10, 2015 8:50 AM - Mike Glass: you probably been printing with it like that anyways
Oct 10, 2015 8:51 AM - NFOsec: I know I need to buy at least 2 more batteries for the drone, not cool given they're $149 each.
Oct 10, 2015 8:51 AM - NFOsec: no, I just don't think it has been seated in well. like the reversed fan.
Oct 10, 2015 8:51 AM - Mike Glass: I have a box of them you could make your own.
Oct 10, 2015 8:51 AM - NFOsec: man, not very cool.
Oct 10, 2015 8:52 AM - Mike Glass: when I got my robo, it was worse then that.
Oct 10, 2015 8:53 AM - NFOsec: we've got some pretty strong lemon laws, but to their defense, they sent me an orange.
Oct 10, 2015 8:53 AM - NFOsec: orange you going to repair it?
Oct 10, 2015 8:54 AM - Mike Glass: every screw was loose, case was not put on properly, bent z rods, electrical connections not plugged in all the way, scratched z axis bars, broken y belt clip, I could go on.
Oct 10, 2015 8:55 AM - Mike Glass: oh and there was a screw that was mangled on the bottom that scratch the eff out of my new countertops in the office.
Oct 10, 2015 8:56 AM - NFOsec: fan has arrived.
    Oct 10, 2015 8:56 AM - Mike Glass: lets hope its a 5volt
Oct 10, 2015 8:57 AM - Mike Glass: err not
    Oct 10, 2015 8:57 AM - NFOsec: $2.99 fed-ex saturday delivery, and 12v lame try.
    Oct 10, 2015 8:57 AM - Mike Glass: lol
    Oct 10, 2015 8:58 AM - NFOsec: 12v 15a, this puppy should blow a shit storm.
Oct 10, 2015 8:58 AM - Mike Glass: come on now its FWYS.
    Oct 10, 2015 8:58 AM - NFOsec: j/k .08
Oct 10, 2015 8:58 AM - Mike Glass: Don what you working on today?
Oct 10, 2015 9:00 AM - Mike Glass: NFO plotter drag knife on the laser, think its doable?
Oct 10, 2015 9:00 AM - NFOsec: so, those black clips, are they openable or do I need to get a new one, standard J2 jumper clip on that one).
Oct 10, 2015 9:01 AM - NFOsec: well, there is one general problem with that concept.
Oct 10, 2015 9:01 AM - Mike Glass: just cut the end off the other one.
Oct 10, 2015 9:01 AM - NFOsec: the drag would have to be constant from the point of connecting to the material since you can't "lift".
Oct 10, 2015 9:01 AM - NFOsec: I use a drag knife and pen configuration on my CNC router.
Oct 10, 2015 9:01 AM - Mike Glass: doh, ok guess it goes on the cnc..
Oct 10, 2015 9:01 AM - NFOsec: but, you could.
Oct 10, 2015 9:02 AM - Mike Glass: the real question is why would you do that if you can laser cut..lol
Oct 10, 2015 9:02 AM - NFOsec: people have done spring-loaded drag knives on lasers, triggering it for outline (contour cutting) but not practical bud.
Oct 10, 2015 9:02 AM - NFOsec: MG: saving laser power/tube life and makes you out to be a bigger nerd than you really are?
Oct 10, 2015 9:03 AM - Mike Glass: maybe I could put it on the sphere bot and cut eggs..lol
Oct 10, 2015 9:03 AM - NFOsec: so, not being really electrical knowledgeable, splicing using crimp splice/tape isn't smart in this case or do In eed to just reuse the clip and figure out how to get the other wire into it?
Oct 10, 2015 9:04 AM - NFOsec: I have created the parts for the plot bot clock, just haven't put together yet.
Oct 10, 2015 9:04 AM - Mike Glass: unless you have extra pins for crimping, not worth the risk
Oct 10, 2015 9:05 AM - Mike Glass: I want to make one of those
Oct 10, 2015 9:05 AM - Mike Glass: did you laser it?
    Oct 10, 2015 9:05 AM - NFOsec: yes
Oct 10, 2015 9:05 AM - Mike Glass: neat which one did you use?
Oct 10, 2015 9:05 AM - NFOsec: I used the original plot clock, not the new modified version.
Oct 10, 2015 9:06 AM - NFOsec: so you're saying it's not worth the risk pushing the wires into the clip, but rather use the splice type crimps and tape it?
    Oct 10, 2015 9:06 AM - Mike Glass: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:253690/#files
Oct 10, 2015 9:06 AM - Mike Glass: well I would solder them
Oct 10, 2015 9:06 AM - NFOsec: together right. ok.
Oct 10, 2015 9:07 AM - Mike Glass: I use liquid tape its awesome.
Oct 10, 2015 9:09 AM - Mike Glass: yea cut the old leads off and attach to the new fan, thats what I did on my second parts fan. but I also have a bunch of these. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MJVKKKI?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00
Oct 10, 2015 9:10 AM - NFOsec: those would have came handy.
Oct 10, 2015 9:11 AM - Mike Glass: I also have pin kits and connectors, just makes life easier.
Oct 10, 2015 9:11 AM - Mike Glass: and the special crimpers.
Oct 10, 2015 9:12 AM - NFOsec: yeah, I do for other things, but just not these.
Oct 10, 2015 9:12 AM - NFOsec: wasn't part of the "standard" arsenal.
Oct 10, 2015 9:13 AM - Mattchu: okay kids, gotta get ready for a long day of meetings and parts collection. :p
    Oct 10, 2015 9:14 AM - NFOsec: how's the "laser" going Matt?
Oct 10, 2015 9:14 AM - NFOsec: decide if you're doing to venture?
Oct 10, 2015 9:14 AM - Mattchu: I'm negotiating for space today, NFO.
    Oct 10, 2015 9:15 AM - NFOsec: good deal.
    Oct 10, 2015 9:15 AM - NFOsec: good luck.
Oct 10, 2015 9:15 AM - Mattchu: it's gonna be a hell of a negotiation, since I'll be asking for space for that, the 3D printer, my lathe, and my Kennedy toolchest.
Oct 10, 2015 9:16 AM - Mike Glass: and getting one of these was a time saver. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00EDSCFJE?psc=1
Oct 10, 2015 9:17 AM - Mike Glass: hey Matt
    Oct 10, 2015 9:17 AM - Mattchu: yessir MG?
Oct 10, 2015 9:20 AM - Mike Glass: Just saying hi
Oct 10, 2015 9:20 AM - Mattchu: hiya MG! sorry, I thoguht I said hi to you this morning >_<
Oct 10, 2015 9:20 AM - Mattchu: I'm burning the candle at both ends right now hahaha.
Oct 10, 2015 9:25 AM - Mattchu: I'll know what the dealio is later tonight!
Oct 10, 2015 9:32 AM - NFOsec: MG here is one cool example of "inlay" via acrylic.
    Oct 10, 2015 9:33 AM - NFOsec: [IMG]
Oct 10, 2015 9:33 AM - NFOsec: ok, soldered the fan joint, not sure what I'm going to be able to accomplish with the stepper clip yet.
Oct 10, 2015 9:33 AM - Mike Glass: two colors of acrylic?
Oct 10, 2015 9:34 AM - Mike Glass: you might be able to extract the pin from the clip then solder onto it.
Oct 10, 2015 9:35 AM - NFOsec: that's a tight grip, but going to try.
    Oct 10, 2015 9:36 AM - NFOsec: [IMG]
Oct 10, 2015 9:50 AM - Mike Kelly: Morning folks
    Oct 10, 2015 9:52 AM - Mattchu: morning MK!
Oct 10, 2015 9:52 AM - Mattchu: I'll be putting your enclosure together today
Oct 10, 2015 9:59 AM - jbigler1986: Almost got a variable speed controller from Menard's. Then decided I didn't feel like wiring the spindle
    Oct 10, 2015 9:59 AM - jbigler1986: Morning mk and matt
    Oct 10, 2015 10:00 AM - Mattchu: morning JB.
    Oct 10, 2015 10:00 AM - Mattchu: guess I'm sticking around for a bit...my ride ain't here yet.
Oct 10, 2015 10:01 AM - Mattchu: how's it cutting JB? working okay?

    Oct 10, 2015 10:01 AM - jbigler1986: Working today?
    Oct 10, 2015 10:01 AM - NFOsec: MG yeah, 2 colors.
    Oct 10, 2015 10:01 AM - jbigler1986: Working great
    Oct 10, 2015 10:01 AM - Mattchu: no, I'm running errands, JB.
Oct 10, 2015 10:01 AM - NFOsec: same cut pattern for both, just took pieces from one and used outline from other.
    Oct 10, 2015 10:01 AM - Mattchu: next Saturday I'm working though.
Oct 10, 2015 10:02 AM - Mattchu: how was the fit up NFO?
    Oct 10, 2015 10:03 AM - NFOsec: absolutely .001 as expected at least. :)
Oct 10, 2015 10:03 AM - Mattchu: ...I'm considering selling my lathe now.
Oct 10, 2015 10:03 AM - Mattchu: and damn, nice NFO
    Oct 10, 2015 10:04 AM - Mattchu: I like a lil slip fit.
Oct 10, 2015 10:04 AM - NFOsec: I'm considering selling myself. stuff is getting more expensive by the minute.
Oct 10, 2015 10:05 AM - Mattchu: well if I sold my Jet
    Oct 10, 2015 10:05 AM - Mattchu: I'd probably get a sherline
    Oct 10, 2015 10:05 AM - Mattchu: I'd be going to a smaller chuck
Oct 10, 2015 10:05 AM - Mattchu: but, at least right now, I'd be able to accessorize is more easily.
    Oct 10, 2015 10:06 AM - Mattchu: is = it
Oct 10, 2015 10:06 AM - Mattchu: I'd be trading Horsepower and part size for local sourcing, more easily adaptable accessories, and better working size.
Oct 10, 2015 10:07 AM - Mattchu: not much horsepower though.
Oct 10, 2015 10:08 AM - Mattchu: that reminds me, JB...you'll want to get the enco catalog now.
Oct 10, 2015 10:12 AM - jbigler1986: Lol. Yeah I just picked up a few more bits. Need more though
Oct 10, 2015 10:12 AM - Mattchu: two flute or four?
Oct 10, 2015 10:12 AM - Mattchu: you'll be going through them like candy on plastic
Oct 10, 2015 10:13 AM - Mattchu: probably want an oil system.
Oct 10, 2015 10:13 AM - Mattchu: nothing that just floods the table and part...but something that drips oil on the tool.
Oct 10, 2015 10:14 AM - Mattchu: okay, catch you kids later!
    Oct 10, 2015 10:15 AM - Mike Glass: laters
Oct 10, 2015 10:15 AM - Mike Glass: Hey JB, MK, BK, LK, ZK
Oct 10, 2015 10:15 AM - Mike Glass: this bed is effin pissing me off.
Oct 10, 2015 10:16 AM - Mike Glass: Although I think this flooring is warped a bit.
    Oct 10, 2015 10:25 AM - NFOsec: which bed?
    Oct 10, 2015 10:26 AM - NFOsec: the honeycomb?
Oct 10, 2015 10:28 AM - Mike Glass: no my cnc
Oct 10, 2015 10:28 AM - NFOsec: you could do what I did MG, I put in legs with hex screw extenders so I can manually level and weigh out the bed.[IMG]
Oct 10, 2015 10:29 AM - NFOsec: ah. what kind of bed? birch? alum?
Oct 10, 2015 10:29 AM - Mike Glass: going to move it to a beefy table I think.
    Oct 10, 2015 10:29 AM - NFOsec: can't you level via spoiler?
Oct 10, 2015 10:29 AM - NFOsec: My table is birch. that baby is pretty precise and with the weight, anchors, etc. it would take a mountain to unlevel it.
Oct 10, 2015 10:30 AM - Mike Glass: I can level each corner. but the sub and spoiler are mdf
Oct 10, 2015 10:30 AM - Mike Glass: I have kinda of have a high spot where I extended the bed.
Oct 10, 2015 10:30 AM - NFOsec: yeah, but what about running a belt sander across it? :)
Oct 10, 2015 10:31 AM - NFOsec: actually, are you NOT doing a clearing pass every once in a while?
Oct 10, 2015 10:31 AM - NFOsec: I do that say once a month or two trimming off like 1/16-1/8" just to keep it level.
Oct 10, 2015 10:31 AM - NFOsec: I have a 2" clearing but that does the job pretty fast.
    Oct 10, 2015 10:31 AM - Mike Glass: well if I had a dust boot I would.
Oct 10, 2015 10:32 AM - NFOsec: ah, well, hold a vacuum tube and plan on cleaning up a little later?
    Oct 10, 2015 10:32 AM - Mike Glass: or take it outside..lol
Oct 10, 2015 10:33 AM - Mike Glass: or just build a real table.
Oct 10, 2015 10:33 AM - NFOsec: btw, got the fan soldered, got the green wire in (dropped a little liquid solder, heated up, shoved in, crimped the clip itself a little, holding well. now am screwing up the parts fan/heat sink fan/ and reconnecting parts.
    Oct 10, 2015 10:33 AM - NFOsec: God I hope this works.
Oct 10, 2015 10:33 AM - Mike Glass: it will
Oct 10, 2015 10:38 AM - NFOsec: parts fan on, now heat sink fan.
Oct 10, 2015 10:50 AM - Mike Glass: ok much better, I used my belt sander, dont know why I didnt think of that...doh
Oct 10, 2015 10:56 AM - NFOsec: it's the fast, poormans way to level.
Oct 10, 2015 10:56 AM - NFOsec: glad to hear you're leveling out now.
Oct 10, 2015 11:01 AM - Mike Glass: this board is still giving me hell but im trying to get laser accuracy..lol
Oct 10, 2015 11:03 AM - Mike Glass: if one more fly lands on my im going to burn this shit down..
Oct 10, 2015 11:11 AM - NFOsec: Why don't you laser its' balls off.
Oct 10, 2015 11:11 AM - NFOsec: so, bad news, after all connected and done, the green wire came out.
    Oct 10, 2015 11:11 AM - Mike Glass: damn
Oct 10, 2015 11:12 AM - NFOsec: *sigh* not to mention they don't give you much length.
Oct 10, 2015 11:13 AM - NFOsec: I doubt I'd have that size clip anywhere around here or at a neighboring store.
    Oct 10, 2015 11:14 AM - NFOsec: got to figure a way.
Oct 10, 2015 11:15 AM - NFOsec: I'd say for anyone having a Robo < 30 days, this is a little extreme work, but the joke is on me/us. :)
Oct 10, 2015 11:15 AM - NFOsec: QC cut the wrong corners.
Oct 10, 2015 11:18 AM - NFOsec: maybe a pin in the crimp can open it up to shove more in.
Oct 10, 2015 11:20 AM - Mike Glass: yea, done that before also
Oct 10, 2015 11:21 AM - Mike Glass: solder should work the best though
Oct 10, 2015 11:24 AM - NFOsec: can't even get it in enough to solder. trying to get the crimp open or out, I'm afraid I'm going to trash this whole clip if I keep at it.
    Oct 10, 2015 11:24 AM - NFOsec: *sigh* I'm done for now.
Oct 10, 2015 11:26 AM - NFOsec: Goodbye Cruel World...
Oct 10, 2015 11:27 AM - NFOsec: ok, that was a little melodramatic. I'll come back to it in a few hours, I can't focus that small and I don't have jeweler's glasses/ciip-ons or a tall-enough roach clamp system without cutting down the wires again.
    Oct 10, 2015 11:27 AM - NFOsec: later.
Oct 10, 2015 11:30 AM - Mike Glass: ok later
    Oct 10, 2015 11:40 AM - jbigler1986: Back
    Oct 10, 2015 11:40 AM - jbigler1986: Don't say it
Oct 10, 2015 11:42 AM - Mike Glass: hey jb
    Oct 10, 2015 11:44 AM - jbigler1986: hello
Oct 10, 2015 11:44 AM - jbigler1986: about to go get a 1/8 collet from menards. hopefully it works
    Oct 10, 2015 11:44 AM - jbigler1986: the 1/4 and 3/8th collets are so different
    Oct 10, 2015 11:45 AM - jbigler1986: so i am guessing they should work
    Oct 10, 2015 11:45 AM - Mike Glass: should
    Oct 10, 2015 11:47 AM - jbigler1986: then grab a dremel 1/7 v bit and a round nose if they have it
    Oct 10, 2015 11:47 AM - jbigler1986: 1/8
    Oct 10, 2015 11:52 AM - jbigler1986: whats a good text to use
Oct 10, 2015 11:55 AM - Mike Glass: arial black always works
Oct 10, 2015 11:57 AM - Mike Glass: really depends if your doing cut outs of letters or just engraving though
    Oct 10, 2015 11:59 AM - jbigler1986: vcarve
    Oct 10, 2015 11:59 AM - jbigler1986: arial black will be perfecto
Oct 10, 2015 1:45 PM - NFOsec: Curious I am on the road right now. What size is the r1++ steppers on extruder?
    Oct 10, 2015 1:47 PM - NFOsec: Ne1?
Oct 10, 2015 1:53 PM - Bill Monroe: anyone see where I put my glasses?
    Oct 10, 2015 1:53 PM - Bill Monroe: i'm sure they're 17s NF
    Oct 10, 2015 1:58 PM - Mike Glass: I belive they are 28oz nema 17
Oct 10, 2015 2:04 PM - NFOsec: Ok can get clips at this store
Oct 10, 2015 2:15 PM - Mike Glass: thats great
Oct 10, 2015 3:32 PM - jbigler1986: what are you trying to do
Oct 10, 2015 3:46 PM - Mike Glass: his wire pulled out of the extruder stepper.
Oct 10, 2015 3:47 PM - Mike Glass: make anything cool yet JB?
    Oct 10, 2015 3:54 PM - jbigler1986: i am right now

    Oct 10, 2015 3:54 PM - jbigler1986: Purdue logo
    Oct 10, 2015 4:16 PM - Mike Glass: I said cool
Oct 10, 2015 4:57 PM - jbigler1986: That is cool. You have no room to talk Mr bobcat
Oct 10, 2015 5:02 PM - NFOsec: LOL. true dat. Purdue logo is over-printed.
Oct 10, 2015 5:06 PM - jbigler1986: Robbie the robot is over printed
Oct 10, 2015 5:16 PM - NFOsec: Actually Robbie is biased to Bill Monroe.
Oct 10, 2015 5:20 PM - NFOsec: well, here goes nothing, testing semi-flex-shit.
Oct 10, 2015 5:21 PM - Printed Solid: take it slow. real slow.
    Oct 10, 2015 5:23 PM - jbigler1986: Like 15mm slow
Oct 10, 2015 5:24 PM - NFOsec: that wasn't the problem PS, I had dropped in a brass fitting, problem was stuff was rolling back up the hob gear.
Oct 10, 2015 5:24 PM - NFOsec: now that the fitting is there, I'm hoping it will continue to stay down.
Oct 10, 2015 5:25 PM - NFOsec: I had gotten up to 3/4" on a tire I was printing before the first time that happened, thereafter it was after 5 -20 layers.
Oct 10, 2015 5:25 PM - NFOsec: no where for that shit to go except down the poop chute now.
    Oct 10, 2015 5:26 PM - NFOsec: fingers crossed.
Oct 10, 2015 5:26 PM - NFOsec: so, tomorrow or Monday (Columbus Day) is the big sale. Buy Monday and we won't ship until Tuesday sale right PS?
Oct 10, 2015 5:28 PM - Printed Solid: On the E3D? I dropped the price yesterday. You're all set.
    Oct 10, 2015 5:29 PM - NFOsec: :)
Oct 10, 2015 5:29 PM - Printed Solid: Adding in all the E3D bits and pieces really messed up my overall shipping setup.
    Oct 10, 2015 5:29 PM - NFOsec: I bet it did.
Oct 10, 2015 5:30 PM - NFOsec: even Progressive has problems with the Bundler.
Oct 10, 2015 5:30 PM - Printed Solid: It works well with big stuff, but for the little bits where shipping for 1 costs me about the same as shipping 20, it's kind of not fair right now to the customer.
Oct 10, 2015 5:30 PM - Printed Solid: working on that.
    Oct 10, 2015 5:30 PM - Printed Solid: LOL
Oct 10, 2015 5:32 PM - NFOsec: Holy crapman Batman. I set up profiles for the semi-flex, but forgot to drop-down in S3D for the semi-flex profile I created but erroneously used the original one I copied from -- speed default print was 60mm.
Oct 10, 2015 5:32 PM - NFOsec: the job is already on layer 80 and it's clean as hell. but, needs to be 30, that's given top quality.
Oct 10, 2015 5:33 PM - NFOsec: yea, has to be 15-30, otherwise cooling freaks.
Oct 10, 2015 5:33 PM - NFOsec: but, at least I know so far the brass fitting and feed is working well.
Oct 10, 2015 5:35 PM - Printed Solid: So, I saw this ad for shirts on facebook and thought it might be good for haloween costume. http://www.dresslily.com/long-sleev...=facebook&utm_medium=direct&utm_campaign=9531
Oct 10, 2015 5:35 PM - Printed Solid: I find it really strange that they have a yellow lantern shirt, but no green lantern.
Oct 10, 2015 5:35 PM - Printed Solid: has there been some yellow lantern pop culture thing that I don't know about?
Oct 10, 2015 5:36 PM - NFOsec: definitely. Good company, I've ordered shirts from there before.
Oct 10, 2015 5:36 PM - NFOsec: LOL. don't tell me you don't know the lantern dude.
    Oct 10, 2015 5:36 PM - Printed Solid: I do.
Oct 10, 2015 5:36 PM - Printed Solid: But, I'm probably a few years behind. I just read graphic novels from the library
    Oct 10, 2015 5:36 PM - NFOsec: :)
Oct 10, 2015 5:37 PM - Printed Solid: I would have expected a green, then maybe a yellow, red, and blue if they're really into it.
Oct 10, 2015 5:37 PM - Printed Solid: But, to just see yellow with no green seemed odd.
Oct 10, 2015 5:38 PM - Printed Solid: I like the look of it though. Might get it.
Oct 10, 2015 5:40 PM - Mike Glass: NFO Question time.
Oct 10, 2015 5:43 PM - Mike Glass: Hey Matt, how are you doing these days.
Oct 10, 2015 5:43 PM - Printed Solid: alright. you?
Oct 10, 2015 5:43 PM - Mike Glass: busy to the bone, as ever.
Oct 10, 2015 5:43 PM - Printed Solid: right. same.
Oct 10, 2015 5:44 PM - Mike Glass: trying to get our company off to a good start before xmas
Oct 10, 2015 5:44 PM - Printed Solid: I guess I'm out of the loop. What are you doing?
Oct 10, 2015 5:44 PM - Printed Solid: regular day job stuff or your own project?
Oct 10, 2015 5:45 PM - Mike Glass: I make signs, wife refinishes furniture, just picked up a laser that NFO made me buy, so working to create unique gifts.
Oct 10, 2015 5:45 PM - Printed Solid: ok. cool.
Oct 10, 2015 5:46 PM - Mike Glass: I want to create a makerspace here, there is nothing so trying to come up with a space for that as well.
Oct 10, 2015 5:46 PM - Mike Glass: other than our two filled garages/shop..lol
Oct 10, 2015 5:47 PM - Printed Solid: Have you looked into meetup and what not to see if there are others working on something? You might be surprised
Oct 10, 2015 5:47 PM - Mike Glass: no I havent. where is that?
    Oct 10, 2015 5:47 PM - Mike Glass: Remember im in MT..lol
    Oct 10, 2015 5:48 PM - Printed Solid: meetup.com
Oct 10, 2015 5:48 PM - Printed Solid: A lot of maker groups have started out there as just informal gatherings of like minded people.
Oct 10, 2015 5:49 PM - Mike Glass: looks like anime and ethical hackers is all, will look into more, thanks.
Oct 10, 2015 5:50 PM - Mike Glass: NFO get off the pot and answer my question I havent asked yet.
    Oct 10, 2015 5:51 PM - jbigler1986: That sounds like a dating site Matt
Oct 10, 2015 5:53 PM - Mike Glass: oh they have a blender study group, that could be interesting.
Oct 10, 2015 5:54 PM - Mike Glass: JB is your vaccuum full yet?
    Oct 10, 2015 5:55 PM - jbigler1986: Not yet
Oct 10, 2015 5:55 PM - Mike Glass: 4 hours of sleep is wearing on me, need more beer.
Oct 10, 2015 5:56 PM - jbigler1986: I just added more work tonight. Went and picked up the speed controller. Going to wired up the spindle tonight and the water cooling
Oct 10, 2015 5:57 PM - Printed Solid: LOL. JB, I got an order from someone with an @flirty.com email.
Oct 10, 2015 5:57 PM - Printed Solid: Turns out they actually make drones. Odd name choice...
Oct 10, 2015 5:58 PM - jbigler1986: Get peoples interest is all you need
Oct 10, 2015 5:58 PM - Printed Solid: ya. definitely got mine.
    Oct 10, 2015 5:58 PM - jbigler1986: I bet you googled it?
    Oct 10, 2015 5:58 PM - Printed Solid: immediately.
    Oct 10, 2015 5:58 PM - jbigler1986: Perfect
Oct 10, 2015 5:58 PM - Printed Solid: Then I told them they could have free shipping if they sent out a drone to pick the order up.
Oct 10, 2015 5:59 PM - jbigler1986: Lol. Just put an amazon sticker on it and they will be ok
Oct 10, 2015 6:05 PM - jbigler1986: I need to find the wiring diagram for this spindle
Oct 10, 2015 6:08 PM - jbigler1986: U,v,w,gnd. Which one can I not use or do I need to double one up?
    Oct 10, 2015 6:10 PM - NFOsec: I bet that was jb's order.
Oct 10, 2015 6:11 PM - NFOsec: jb; any sensible business owner would want to validate the credibilty of an email address, especially if it tickles his fancy.
Oct 10, 2015 6:12 PM - NFOsec: so, semi-flex so far a major success, no backups, f'ups, or mess ups.
Oct 10, 2015 6:12 PM - NFOsec: I'm telling you, an ass of brass is the best poop chute for this baby.
Oct 10, 2015 6:14 PM - NFOsec: maybe when E3D comes about, I'll use this bone yard stuff on the CNC router instead of the Micron3DP. I want to build out a super-mega system for the Micron.
    Oct 10, 2015 6:17 PM - jbigler1986: So looks like the w I don't need.
Oct 10, 2015 6:17 PM - jbigler1986: There is a fuse in the speed controller if things get crazy
Oct 10, 2015 6:21 PM - NFOsec: reminds me, I need to go buy a lottery ticket.
    Oct 10, 2015 6:31 PM - Mike Glass: NFO
Oct 10, 2015 6:53 PM - Mike Glass: chat killer, its all your fault dan
Oct 10, 2015 6:55 PM - jbigler1986: Hmmm. Not sure what wire to hook up where. Lol
Oct 10, 2015 7:02 PM - Mike Glass: not the blue wire
    Oct 10, 2015 7:08 PM - jbigler1986: Lol
    Oct 10, 2015 7:08 PM - jbigler1986: I don't think it will run directly from ac power
    Oct 10, 2015 7:08 PM - jbigler1986: From what I am reading
Oct 10, 2015 7:13 PM - Mike Glass: Its a ac motor right?
Oct 10, 2015 7:38 PM - Mike Glass: well poop
    Oct 10, 2015 8:16 PM - nonmindo: evening!
Oct 10, 2015 8:19 PM - Mike Glass: hey non
Oct 10, 2015 8:19 PM - nonmindo: been so busy with things, miss coming in here, new schedule sucks too no one is online when i get to work lol
Oct 10, 2015 8:20 PM - Mike Glass: im always here mostly.
Oct 10, 2015 8:20 PM - Mike Glass: except when im not.. lol
Oct 10, 2015 8:20 PM - nonmindo: just read back in the shoutbox a bit, do you know if there are any advantages of using the e3d vs a 3dp?
Oct 10, 2015 8:20 PM - nonmindo: I hadnt ever seen 3dp till just today and it looks super robust
    Oct 10, 2015 8:21 PM - nonmindo: lol
    Oct 10, 2015 8:22 PM - Mike Glass: 3dp is a seriously big machine

Oct 10, 2015 8:23 PM - nonmindo: ahh ok, so it would probably require a lot of work to get the j-head extruder to work on the robo....ok cool, my e3dv6 just got here today
Oct 10, 2015 8:24 PM - nonmindo: also, do you happen to know some good retraction settings for Cura? ALLLLL of my printing issues in the last 2 weeks have been from the Shaxon Translucent Fluorescent Green filament, but in my quest to try and make it work i got cura mostly working, but it seems to retract at every direction change, and on short distances it extrudes and retracts rapidly, its producing some nice prints, but im worried about my nema burning out
Oct 10, 2015 8:25 PM - nonmindo: i can upload a short video to my dropbox if it would help
Oct 10, 2015 8:26 PM - Mike Glass: hmm shouldnt be much diffrent from the hex, thats what I run till I get my bowden extruder finished then I go to the V6
Oct 10, 2015 8:26 PM - Mike Glass: I just use the default, are you getting strings?
Oct 10, 2015 8:27 PM - nonmindo: i am getting hairs but i might have my temp too high, i'm trying to compensate for the colder ambient temperature due to season and havent figured that out yet
Oct 10, 2015 8:28 PM - nonmindo: do you have the defaults, i changed mine to meed that of MC, but it doesnt behave the same with the same settings, its weird
    Oct 10, 2015 8:28 PM - nonmindo: meet*
Oct 10, 2015 8:29 PM - Mike Glass: I use s3d, havent used MC, and use cura slicer only in repetier.
    Oct 10, 2015 8:30 PM - nonmindo: ahh ok
Oct 10, 2015 8:30 PM - nonmindo: yea i havent bought s3d yet, its on my list, next is the drive screw upgrade THEN s3d
Oct 10, 2015 8:31 PM - nonmindo: the maker space we just rented out has been taking up most of my time and budget this last couple weeks lol
Oct 10, 2015 8:31 PM - Mike Glass: I not sure the lead screws from robo are the best to go with.
    Oct 10, 2015 8:31 PM - nonmindo: oh?
Oct 10, 2015 8:32 PM - nonmindo: do you have an alternative suggestion? I'm sure it would be cheaper and actually in stock
Oct 10, 2015 8:32 PM - Mike Glass: Hey im looking at doing the same thing with a maker space.
Oct 10, 2015 8:32 PM - nonmindo: they have been avoiding my e-mails about my warranty repairs
Oct 10, 2015 8:32 PM - Mike Glass: yea the ones that don went with are the best quality
Oct 10, 2015 8:34 PM - nonmindo: told me that the free parts replacement is applicable on the refurb for 90'days, opposed to 6mo like the new ones, they told me they would send me a new bed bracket and belt, then asked if i really needed a new bed because they ship the magnets detached from the bed and the user has to glue them on, told them that gling the bed i have didnt work due to build up where magents are, they sent invoice for $10....
Oct 10, 2015 8:34 PM - nonmindo: e-mailed them back stating it shouldnt cost anything for the replacement parts per phone support, and havent heard back for 2 days
Oct 10, 2015 8:34 PM - nonmindo: do you happen to know what ones he got?
Oct 10, 2015 8:34 PM - Mike Glass: yea sound about right
Oct 10, 2015 8:35 PM - nonmindo: I tried asking for Jerry but the T1 support rep said "oh he's level 2, I cant just send you to him"
    Oct 10, 2015 8:36 PM - Mike Glass: I belive they were the T8 http://www.omc-stepperonline.com/th...epper-motor-48mm-body-300mm-t8-x-8-p-227.html
Oct 10, 2015 8:37 PM - Mike Glass: look in the forums to confirm, but thats should be the ones.
Oct 10, 2015 8:37 PM - nonmindo: ooohhh that page looks farmiliar!
Oct 10, 2015 8:37 PM - nonmindo: ohh he did a write up about it ok, what's his username?
    Oct 10, 2015 8:37 PM - Mike Glass: donhuevo
    Oct 10, 2015 8:38 PM - nonmindo: RIGHT!
Oct 10, 2015 8:38 PM - Mike Glass: or donny eggs as I call him
    Oct 10, 2015 8:38 PM - nonmindo: lol
Oct 10, 2015 8:39 PM - nonmindo: cool, i'll go poke around for that in a few... Yea this makerspace is fun to build out
Oct 10, 2015 8:39 PM - Mike Glass: we have nothing here, so would like to set one up. not sure whats all invlved.
    Oct 10, 2015 8:40 PM - Mike Glass: involved
Oct 10, 2015 8:40 PM - nonmindo: ahh ours is just a small private one
Oct 10, 2015 8:40 PM - nonmindo: as for a commercial one, i think you just need the space, some insurance, waivers and essential training
Oct 10, 2015 8:41 PM - Mike Glass: I want to start doing classes on 3dprinters and cnc/laser tech.
Oct 10, 2015 8:41 PM - nonmindo: we have like 6 here in seattle area and they all offer the same different tiers of use.... "pay us to do it for you" and "rent our machines and use them your self" the laser and cnc req certifications to use
Oct 10, 2015 8:41 PM - Mike Glass: what kind or certs?
    Oct 10, 2015 8:42 PM - nonmindo: they are setup fedex/kinkos style
Oct 10, 2015 8:42 PM - nonmindo: umm i'm not sure if they are industry certs or just certifications from the spaces themselves that say "i went to this class and know the basic safety and operation of <device>"
Oct 10, 2015 8:43 PM - nonmindo: here is supposedly one of the oldest in the country
    Oct 10, 2015 8:43 PM - nonmindo: http://www.metrixcreatespace.com/#makesomethingawesome
Oct 10, 2015 8:43 PM - Mike Glass: hmm, probably wouldnt apply here..lol
Oct 10, 2015 8:44 PM - nonmindo: here is another one....
    Oct 10, 2015 8:44 PM - nonmindo: http://makeitlocally.org/
Oct 10, 2015 8:44 PM - nonmindo: they also give their price/time break down for each device too
Oct 10, 2015 8:46 PM - Mike Glass: cool, thanks, will look into it, really want to get this going here.
Oct 10, 2015 8:46 PM - nonmindo: we just got a little shop out behind a neighbors house, dad has been helping the owner clean out the shop since her husband passed some years ago and she is now planning to move, so until she does she is letting us use the workshop for our maker stuff, my best friend makes e-cigarettes and was working in a cramped garage, then he got a couple printers and i got one, hes building a laser cutter now
Oct 10, 2015 8:47 PM - nonmindo: its perfect for 2-4 people, we got some shelving and a couple desk spaces and a work bench for more messy things like grinding and cutting and stuff
Oct 10, 2015 8:47 PM - Mike Glass: sweet, yea I like building the machines, my cnc is DIY and a spherebot.
    Oct 10, 2015 8:48 PM - nonmindo: nice
    Oct 10, 2015 8:48 PM - nonmindo: spherebot?
Oct 10, 2015 8:48 PM - nonmindo: i got some pics of the place if you wanna take a peek
Oct 10, 2015 8:48 PM - Mike Glass: commonly known as a eggbot.
Oct 10, 2015 8:48 PM - nonmindo: i've heard of that, never looked into it
    Oct 10, 2015 8:49 PM - Mike Glass: I can do logo's on golfballs
Oct 10, 2015 8:49 PM - Mike Glass: or cool easter eggs
Oct 10, 2015 8:49 PM - Mike Glass: yea love to see it.
Oct 10, 2015 8:49 PM - nonmindo: that's the most advanced easter egg painting system i have ever seen
Oct 10, 2015 8:49 PM - Mike Glass: they are neat, but a beyatch to set up.
    Oct 10, 2015 8:50 PM - nonmindo: really?
    Oct 10, 2015 8:50 PM - nonmindo: i wouldnt expect that
Oct 10, 2015 8:51 PM - Mike Glass: mostly the software and program, just so differrent from 3d printing, and Im fairly new, since Dec of last year.
Oct 10, 2015 8:51 PM - nonmindo: wonder if its similar to vinyl plotting
    Oct 10, 2015 8:52 PM - nonmindo: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ys75kurn4n8796x/20151007_172929.jpg?dl=0

Oct 10, 2015 8:52 PM - Mike Glass: So the first of the year I got the robo, then built a cnc from printed parts in March, then built the spherebot in april. come along ways.
    Oct 10, 2015 8:52 PM - nonmindo: damn i guess!!
Oct 10, 2015 8:52 PM - Mike Glass: now im working on an SLA printer
Oct 10, 2015 8:52 PM - nonmindo: i just got the robo in sept

Oct 10, 2015 8:54 PM - Mike Glass: looks like that guy is sleeping..lol
Oct 10, 2015 8:54 PM - nonmindo: there is a new desk to the left of the old wood one now, we are working on the other half which is where the workbench is, the cabinets under the window where the led lights are is where our printers are going
Oct 10, 2015 8:55 PM - nonmindo: yea, that Allen, my best friend, while we were moving some things around cleaning up he found a lounge chair so he took the opportunity to relax lol
Oct 10, 2015 8:55 PM - nonmindo: our local Ace hardware was liquidating their old bulk screw bins, i bought all of those for $10
Oct 10, 2015 8:56 PM - Mike Glass: nice, sounds like fun, I could probably do something here, I have a 36x45 shop and a 24x24 garage, just got to get my wife to sell all the furniture she refinishes..lol
    Oct 10, 2015 8:56 PM - nonmindo: haha
Oct 10, 2015 8:57 PM - nonmindo: why not incorporate the furnature refinishing into the maker space?
Oct 10, 2015 8:57 PM - nonmindo: "Maker Space and Upcycling Workshop"
Oct 10, 2015 8:58 PM - nonmindo: brb a sec, call at work
Oct 10, 2015 8:58 PM - Mike Glass: we have alot of space but live about 5 miles from town, we do upcycle, which is cool, all my signs I make are pretty much from salvage material.
Oct 10, 2015 8:58 PM - Mike Glass: work, whats that?

Oct 10, 2015 9:21 PM - jbigler1986: MG did MK get his cnc running?
Oct 10, 2015 9:21 PM - Mike Glass: thats awesome, almost as much as mine.
    Oct 10, 2015 9:22 PM - Mike Glass: mine is 18x 28
Oct 10, 2015 9:22 PM - Mike Glass: yea think so

Oct 10, 2015 9:23 PM - jbigler1986: so in total I have like $320 into it and 6 days of tinkering
    Oct 10, 2015 9:23 PM - nonmindo: sweeet thanks!!
Oct 10, 2015 9:23 PM - Mike Glass: thats cheaper then I have invested, with
Oct 10, 2015 9:23 PM - Mike Glass: the router
Oct 10, 2015 9:24 PM - Mike Glass: def a great find, ,--jealous
Oct 10, 2015 9:24 PM - jbigler1986: steps I had to end up microstepping and changing it to 1200 to get it to move the distance I told it to
Oct 10, 2015 9:25 PM - jbigler1986: messed with that for like 5 hours yesterday. was pissing me off
Oct 10, 2015 9:25 PM - nonmindo: you know what pisses me off??.........Shaxon translucent Fluorescent green
Oct 10, 2015 9:26 PM - jbigler1986: yeah their solid colors are all transulenct
    Oct 10, 2015 9:26 PM - jbigler1986: except for black and white
Oct 10, 2015 9:26 PM - nonmindo: ok, so i'll never buy Shaxon again
    Oct 10, 2015 9:27 PM - jbigler1986: it's really not to bad
Oct 10, 2015 9:27 PM - nonmindo: i couldnt get it to print for crap
Oct 10, 2015 9:27 PM - Mike Glass: hatchbox is the best.
    Oct 10, 2015 9:27 PM - nonmindo: kept failing
Oct 10, 2015 9:27 PM - nonmindo: clogging hot end
Oct 10, 2015 9:27 PM - jbigler1986: i used it all the time until I started buying hatchbox
Oct 10, 2015 9:27 PM - nonmindo: i had to take printer apart multiple times to get it working
Oct 10, 2015 9:27 PM - jbigler1986: pretty sure MG was the one that got us all using hatchbox
Oct 10, 2015 9:27 PM - nonmindo: yea, hatchbox was my first brand i bought and i dont think i'll use anything other than them now
Oct 10, 2015 9:28 PM - nonmindo: except colorfabb and some protopasta stuff
Oct 10, 2015 9:28 PM - Mike Glass: or JustPla is what I mostly use
Oct 10, 2015 9:28 PM - nonmindo: hmm amazon reviews for that were spotty so i avoided justpla, its good though?
    Oct 10, 2015 9:28 PM - jbigler1986: justpla is ok. prefer hatchbox
    Oct 10, 2015 9:28 PM - Mike Glass: I hate colorfabb
Oct 10, 2015 9:28 PM - nonmindo: eSun works alright too once you tune it in
    Oct 10, 2015 9:28 PM - jbigler1986: did not like esun
Oct 10, 2015 9:29 PM - nonmindo: admittedly it was a PITA to get working, but not nearly as bad as this Shaxon crap
    Oct 10, 2015 9:29 PM - Mike Glass: I like esun petg
Oct 10, 2015 9:29 PM - jbigler1986: also did not like sainsmart or whatever it's called
Oct 10, 2015 9:29 PM - nonmindo: i wish frys would sell something other than Shaxon, MG chemical and makerbot
Oct 10, 2015 9:29 PM - jbigler1986: they have a bunch of other at my frys
Oct 10, 2015 9:29 PM - nonmindo: not mine, and they are almost always out
Oct 10, 2015 9:30 PM - jbigler1986: can't remember the name off of the top of my head though
Oct 10, 2015 9:30 PM - nonmindo: we have MakerBot, Shaxon, Mg Chemical, and Dremel
    Oct 10, 2015 9:30 PM - jbigler1986: GP3D
Oct 10, 2015 9:30 PM - Mike Glass: JustPla is great for the price, and if you have a problem the rectify right away. very impressed.
Oct 10, 2015 9:31 PM - nonmindo: I have amazon Prime so im not toooo worried, so far i've been good about knowing when to put in an order for more filament, but ya know, sometimes nothing can beat the ability to impulse buy some filament on the way to work lol
    Oct 10, 2015 9:31 PM - jbigler1986: Veleman filament too
Oct 10, 2015 9:31 PM - nonmindo: eSun was the same way, I hit them up about their prototype filament beta program and they sent me some ePoly, 40ft of clening filament, some brass and some wood because i was curious about them too
Oct 10, 2015 9:31 PM - Mike Glass: try justpla the are on amazon, and have some great colors.
Oct 10, 2015 9:32 PM - nonmindo: the first roll of white i got was super moist and not wound on the reel well so i hit them up, they told me to keep the bad filament and next day'd me a new roll
    Oct 10, 2015 9:32 PM - Mike Glass: $15.99 2.2lb spool
Oct 10, 2015 9:32 PM - jbigler1986: yeah my justpla was a little moist too

Oct 10, 2015 9:32 PM - nonmindo: ohh yea GP3D they had that too at my frys, i think that is what the brand of the metal filament is
    Oct 10, 2015 9:33 PM - jbigler1986: they have flex filament too
Oct 10, 2015 9:33 PM - nonmindo: ohh my moist was eSun
Oct 10, 2015 9:33 PM - nonmindo: (that sounds wrong)
    Oct 10, 2015 9:33 PM - jbigler1986: esun spools are awesome though
Oct 10, 2015 9:33 PM - nonmindo: I'll try out JustPLA next time
Oct 10, 2015 9:34 PM - nonmindo: i like the shaxon spool actually, it works well with my top mounted filament holder, fits in the grooves on the inside and rolls smoothly
Oct 10, 2015 9:34 PM - nonmindo: plus you can unscrew them and take the sides off
Oct 10, 2015 9:35 PM - nonmindo: I want to find an old reel-to-reel machine and see if i can use it to transfer filament from one roll to another lol
    Oct 10, 2015 9:35 PM - jbigler1986: top spool holders are a dangerous game
Oct 10, 2015 9:35 PM - nonmindo: i know they are, but i have mine super secure and printed them at 100% infill
Oct 10, 2015 9:36 PM - nonmindo: eventually what im going to do is buy a nice wall hanging one with bearings
Oct 10, 2015 9:36 PM - nonmindo: hatchbox actually makes a super affordable spool holder
    Oct 10, 2015 9:37 PM - nonmindo: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias=aps&field-keywords=hatchbox+spool
Oct 10, 2015 9:39 PM - nonmindo: either of you put together an e3dv6 before?
    Oct 10, 2015 9:39 PM - jbigler1986: Yep. 4 to be exact
Oct 10, 2015 9:39 PM - nonmindo: I've seen a number of videos and read a number of how-to's, but none of them mention anything about thermal paste, mine came with some
    Oct 10, 2015 9:39 PM - jbigler1986: Its new
Oct 10, 2015 9:40 PM - nonmindo: where am i supposed to apply it?
Oct 10, 2015 9:40 PM - nonmindo: heat break or?
Oct 10, 2015 9:40 PM - jbigler1986: You put it on the top threads of the heat break. Not the bottom
    Oct 10, 2015 9:40 PM - nonmindo: ok cool
Oct 10, 2015 9:40 PM - jbigler1986: The threads that go into the heatsink
Oct 10, 2015 9:41 PM - nonmindo: one thought was on the heater core before insertion, then i was like...nahhhh that doesnt seem correct, then i was like, hmmm prolly the heatbreak, but which part, both, or only one...which one!!?? lol
Oct 10, 2015 9:41 PM - nonmindo: then i set the whole thing down and went to work
    Oct 10, 2015 9:42 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah just the heatsink threads
Oct 10, 2015 9:42 PM - jbigler1986: Pretty sure if you look on the e3d site they updated it to show the assembly with the thermal paste
Oct 10, 2015 9:43 PM - nonmindo: once i confirm which linear steppers that don got i'm going to order those, then do all my upgrades at once..... i was going to do the e3dv6 now, but once i discovered that all of the things that have been breaking on my printer have been because of the shaxon, and its printing fine with hatchbox again, i'm sticking to my original plan of waiting till i have all upgrades before tearing printer down to install, less disassembles the better
Oct 10, 2015 9:43 PM - nonmindo: i'll go check that out here in a few
Oct 10, 2015 9:43 PM - nonmindo: jb do you use cura?
Oct 10, 2015 9:44 PM - Mike Glass: he uses MC
    Oct 10, 2015 9:44 PM - nonmindo: kk
Oct 10, 2015 9:44 PM - Mike Glass: lol, not really
    Oct 10, 2015 9:46 PM - nonmindo: gah!!
    Oct 10, 2015 9:46 PM - nonmindo: lol
    Oct 10, 2015 9:46 PM - nonmindo: #troll
    Oct 10, 2015 9:47 PM - nonmindo: ohhhh crap!!
Oct 10, 2015 9:48 PM - nonmindo: whereswaldo has gotten marlin 1.1.0 into Release Candidate state!
Oct 10, 2015 9:48 PM - nonmindo: this excites me to no end
    Oct 10, 2015 9:48 PM - jbigler1986: No. S3d
Oct 10, 2015 9:48 PM - jbigler1986: Haha. MC. I will not use bandwidth on that crap
    Oct 10, 2015 9:48 PM - nonmindo: lol
    Oct 10, 2015 9:49 PM - jbigler1986: I got my new leadscrews from amazon
Oct 10, 2015 9:49 PM - nonmindo: i had to switch, i was using it and no issues, but as soon as i tossed this super high geometry part into it that was going to take 17hrs ot print it sliced it and started printing but it would start/stop the motors like it was losing data connection
Oct 10, 2015 9:49 PM - nonmindo: jb like the robo upgrades?
    Oct 10, 2015 9:50 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah
    Oct 10, 2015 9:50 PM - jbigler1986: RoBo stole my idea

Oct 10, 2015 9:54 PM - nonmindo: MG sent this link earlier http://www.omc-stepperonline.com/th...epper-motor-48mm-body-300mm-t8-x-8-p-227.html

    Oct 10, 2015 9:55 PM - nonmindo: swap motors?
    Oct 10, 2015 9:56 PM - jbigler1986: I would go 350mm unless it says 300mm is usable
    Oct 10, 2015 9:56 PM - jbigler1986: Will 350 fit inside the case?
Oct 10, 2015 9:56 PM - nonmindo: well, the only ones on amazon are 300
    Oct 10, 2015 9:56 PM - nonmindo: http://www.amazon.com/SainSmart-Scr...587&sr=8-1-fkmr0&keywords=sainsmart+leadscrew

Oct 10, 2015 9:58 PM - nonmindo: ohh man, that sounds like a chore
    Oct 10, 2015 9:58 PM - jbigler1986: I started a thread on the upgrade but didn't finish it

Oct 10, 2015 11:15 PM - nonmindo: I used to have a vinyl plotter too so it might be similar, but instead of force for the blade, its power for the laser
Oct 10, 2015 11:15 PM - Mike Glass: laser has so many uses its crazy.
Oct 10, 2015 11:16 PM - Mike Glass: I lasered some jeans last night, it was a big hit.
    Oct 10, 2015 11:17 PM - nonmindo: nice!
Oct 10, 2015 11:17 PM - nonmindo: i was thinking about building the small one that uses dvd burner lasers to engrave
Oct 10, 2015 11:17 PM - Mike Glass: Im doing rocks tomorrow.
Oct 10, 2015 11:17 PM - nonmindo: just for some small stuff
Oct 10, 2015 11:18 PM - nonmindo: do you know if the new endstop holders for the robo lead screw upgrade are printable somewhere?
Oct 10, 2015 11:18 PM - Mike Glass: yea I was going to do that for my cnc but wanted to actually cut up to 1/2 material so I thought if I spent $350, 1K more would benifit me better.
Oct 10, 2015 11:18 PM - nonmindo: or if the existing parts will work
    Oct 10, 2015 11:19 PM - nonmindo: yea
Oct 10, 2015 11:20 PM - Mike Glass: you dont need them. they actually can cause you to crack your glass if your endstops fail.
    Oct 10, 2015 11:20 PM - nonmindo: ouch!
Oct 10, 2015 11:20 PM - nonmindo: so just use the ones that i have now then
Oct 10, 2015 11:21 PM - nonmindo: i can always ask these things later once i finally get them
Oct 10, 2015 11:21 PM - Mike Glass: depending on which ones you get there are files on thingiverse that will fit.
Oct 10, 2015 11:21 PM - nonmindo: im prolly going to buy the ones you linked me
Oct 10, 2015 11:21 PM - Mike Glass: like JB's, MK made some for his
Oct 10, 2015 11:21 PM - nonmindo: i dont feel like taking nema motors apartl ol
    Oct 10, 2015 11:22 PM - Mike Glass: no, I wouldnt
    Oct 10, 2015 11:22 PM - nonmindo: hah
Oct 10, 2015 11:22 PM - Mike Glass: Don is a good source, if you need something he will help, he's a great guy.
Oct 10, 2015 11:22 PM - nonmindo: yea, its a matter of me being online when he is lol
Oct 10, 2015 11:23 PM - nonmindo: i'll wait till i can afford it, then look around for him
Oct 10, 2015 11:23 PM - Mike Glass: Wel I can relay, im always around.
Oct 10, 2015 11:23 PM - nonmindo: i suppose i could always message him on the forums too
Oct 10, 2015 11:24 PM - nonmindo: first things first, getting my replacement parts from robo, assebmling the e3dv6, then i'll confirm the drive screws with don and buy one at a time, then once i have them both ill ask everyone like 500 questions about calibration for the extruder and install for the drive screws
Oct 10, 2015 11:25 PM - nonmindo: I have a roadmap for printer upgrades lol
Oct 10, 2015 11:26 PM - nonmindo: after all of that, i will buy s3d then work on the marlin firmware upgrade, and install the PT-100 sensor and build my OLED smart controller......going to learn some cad along the way as i want to print a bezel for the lcd that snaps into a hole ill be cutting in the housing of the printer and had mounting holes on the back to mount the OLED display to
Oct 10, 2015 11:29 PM - Mike Glass: do dons heating lights too, I did that it's sweet.
    Oct 10, 2015 11:30 PM - nonmindo: heating lights?
    Oct 10, 2015 11:30 PM - nonmindo: is that like marques's
Oct 10, 2015 11:30 PM - nonmindo: lights change color based on temp
Oct 10, 2015 11:31 PM - Mike Glass: yea don did it first
    Oct 10, 2015 11:31 PM - nonmindo: lol nice
    Oct 10, 2015 11:31 PM - Mike Glass: cost me like $10
Oct 10, 2015 11:32 PM - nonmindo: I'm not super worried about that right now, i do have some 6000k led strips that are supposed to be used for car driving lights that im going to install for now tho
Oct 10, 2015 11:32 PM - nonmindo: they are CREE panels
Oct 10, 2015 11:32 PM - Mike Glass: actually cheaper, just need a voltage regulator and 2 rbg leds
    Oct 10, 2015 11:32 PM - nonmindo: http://www.amazon.com/RioRand®-Wate...a_nav_t_3?ie=UTF8&refRID=1F27CTXFCVZ0J5HCEFYZ
Oct 10, 2015 11:33 PM - nonmindo: I wanted better working lights for print streaming
Oct 10, 2015 11:33 PM - nonmindo: going to hook these in place of the blue ones robo supplies
Oct 10, 2015 11:34 PM - nonmindo: just gotta take printer apart to figure out if they are direct wired or if they are terminated with SMT-SM connectors under the base
Oct 10, 2015 11:34 PM - Mike Glass: I was going to get those ones, but opted for silicone style 4 12' strips for $6.99
Oct 10, 2015 11:34 PM - nonmindo: these are smaller than i thought they would be

Oct 10, 2015 11:34 PM - nonmindo: but im sure they will be plenty bright
Oct 10, 2015 11:34 PM - Mike Glass: I hate the blue led, look cool but suck for streaming
Oct 10, 2015 11:35 PM - nonmindo: unless you are printing in fluorescent green lol
Oct 10, 2015 11:35 PM - Mike Glass: that is true, it looks cool with transparent green.
Oct 10, 2015 11:36 PM - nonmindo: the only successful print i have had with the green
    Oct 10, 2015 11:36 PM - nonmindo:
    Oct 10, 2015 11:38 PM - Mike Glass: this is mine http://i.imgur.com/5NU59Zdl.jpg
    Oct 10, 2015 11:39 PM - nonmindo: nice
    Oct 10, 2015 11:39 PM - nonmindo: no supports?
    Oct 10, 2015 11:39 PM - Mike Glass: nope
    Oct 10, 2015 11:39 PM - Mike Glass: its 2 parts..lol
    Oct 10, 2015 11:40 PM - nonmindo: ahh ok
Oct 10, 2015 11:40 PM - nonmindo: still, looks good
Oct 10, 2015 11:40 PM - Mike Glass: but still impressive without supports
Oct 10, 2015 11:40 PM - nonmindo: thats what im saying!
Oct 10, 2015 11:40 PM - Mike Glass: i want to cast it in alum, as soon as I get my foundry finished.
    Oct 10, 2015 11:42 PM - nonmindo: ohh that'd be fun
Oct 10, 2015 11:42 PM - nonmindo: print out a terminator head and do that too!
Oct 10, 2015 11:42 PM - nonmindo: that was the only part i was able to successfully print with the shaxon, it was also the longest print i had done, and one of the best looking as well, highest geometry i have printed too.... figured i wouldnt have any issues with the other prints, but since then i havent been able to get a successful print, was trying to print one of the other 3 parts for the piece today with hatchbox
    Oct 10, 2015 11:42 PM - Mike Glass: I have one..lol
Oct 10, 2015 11:43 PM - nonmindo: all was going well till a storm rolled through and caused 2 micro power outages, enough to keep the printer running and computer, but also enough to cause the print to shift and the extruder to skip a layer
Oct 10, 2015 11:43 PM - nonmindo: something is telling me i shouldnt be printing a bong
Oct 10, 2015 11:43 PM - Mike Glass: I have good luck with hatchbox, mostly abs though
Oct 10, 2015 11:44 PM - nonmindo: i got some of their ABS on accident, meant to buy PLA.....you need to cover printer or anything?
Oct 10, 2015 11:45 PM - Mike Glass: nope just higher heat for bed and hotend
Oct 10, 2015 11:45 PM - nonmindo: what do you suggest for bed? 85
Oct 10, 2015 11:45 PM - Mike Glass: I have a pei I need ot install also, havent got around to doing it yet.
Oct 10, 2015 11:46 PM - nonmindo: pei, is that the flexible bed material?
Oct 10, 2015 11:46 PM - Mike Glass: abs is good around 80, I dont go above that. some say 100 but seems to get gooey.
Oct 10, 2015 11:46 PM - Mike Glass: yea but is stuck down buy 3m tape.
    Oct 10, 2015 11:47 PM - nonmindo: hmmm
Oct 10, 2015 11:47 PM - nonmindo: i'll wait till glass no longer works for me
    Oct 10, 2015 11:47 PM - nonmindo: lol
Oct 10, 2015 11:48 PM - Mike Glass: my glass has got fractures in it so thats why I got the pei.
Oct 10, 2015 11:48 PM - nonmindo: honestly prolly wont ever print in ABS, if i knew it would be worth it to ship out, i'd offer to trade someone in here my ABS hatchbox for some PLA
Oct 10, 2015 11:49 PM - Mike Glass: I just mainly use it for parts that are around high heat, like my cnc dust mount and things that I need to vapor polish
    Oct 10, 2015 11:51 PM - nonmindo: true true
Oct 10, 2015 11:52 PM - nonmindo: cant you vapor polish pla with chloraform(obvi safety needed with that lol)
Oct 10, 2015 11:52 PM - Mike Glass: and robo parts I do are all abs
Oct 10, 2015 11:52 PM - Mike Glass: I have MEK for pla
    Oct 10, 2015 11:52 PM - nonmindo: MEK
    Oct 10, 2015 11:52 PM - nonmindo: hmmm
Oct 10, 2015 11:52 PM - Mike Glass: nasty stuff
    Oct 10, 2015 11:52 PM - nonmindo: lol
Oct 10, 2015 11:52 PM - nonmindo: prolly safter than chloraform
Oct 10, 2015 11:53 PM - Mike Glass: prolly not its really nasty, you cant even buy it in most states
Oct 10, 2015 11:54 PM - Mike Glass: they sell a MEK substitute, I couldnt find that here.
Oct 10, 2015 11:54 PM - nonmindo: im going to try and use the plastruct plasti weld with a sponge brush and see if i can paint the surfaces smooth, granted it'd be expensive to buy plasti weld for most parts but yea
Oct 10, 2015 11:54 PM - Mike Glass: abs with acetone brushing works really nice.
Oct 10, 2015 11:55 PM - nonmindo: thats where i got the idea lol
Oct 10, 2015 11:56 PM - Mike Glass: You can use the frosting spray also with pla, to get the same effect.
Oct 10, 2015 11:57 PM - Mike Glass: ok , think its time I get my ass to bed been up since 5am
    Oct 10, 2015 11:58 PM - Mike Glass: need my 4 hours of sleep...lol
    Oct 10, 2015 11:59 PM - nonmindo: damn!
Oct 10, 2015 11:59 PM - nonmindo: alrighty, thanks for all the pointers and help tonight!
Oct 10, 2015 11:59 PM - nonmindo: i cant wait till its my weekend and i can spend more time working on printer......i think i need to buy a UPS lol
Oct 11, 2015 12:00 AM - Mike Glass: Night non
    Oct 11, 2015 12:00 AM - nonmindo: laters
Oct 11, 2015 1:57 AM - Roderick Reed: Hi all my printer is up and running YES I'm a brand new owner and enjoying my printer (3 print in progress)
    Oct 11, 2015 4:45 AM - jbigler1986: Morning
    Oct 11, 2015 5:09 AM - Bill Monroe: jb
Oct 11, 2015 5:09 AM - Bill Monroe: words for the day: "voltage mode"
    Oct 11, 2015 6:39 AM - jbigler1986: Sweet
    Oct 11, 2015 6:39 AM - jbigler1986: Got the servos tuned?
Oct 11, 2015 6:39 AM - Bill Monroe: yup now calibrating
Oct 11, 2015 6:39 AM - Bill Monroe: but that's the same drill as with steppers to, it's kindergarden
Oct 11, 2015 6:40 AM - Bill Monroe: how you doin?
Oct 11, 2015 6:46 AM - jbigler1986: Just finishing up this piece on the cnc
Oct 11, 2015 6:46 AM - jbigler1986: Need to go get some stain
    Oct 11, 2015 6:47 AM - Bill Monroe: color?
    Oct 11, 2015 6:49 AM - jbigler1986: Not sure yet
    Oct 11, 2015 6:50 AM - Bill Monroe: [IMG]
    Oct 11, 2015 6:50 AM - jbigler1986: I have Cabernet and ebony
    Oct 11, 2015 6:50 AM - Bill Monroe: before/after tuning
Oct 11, 2015 6:52 AM - Mike Glass: Do you tune them by voltage?
Oct 11, 2015 6:54 AM - Bill Monroe: it's not like that.. the first one had the amplifier in current mode.. controller issues a +/- 0-10V signal, amp varies current and the controller watches the mathematical result of the two encoders and determines the delta between where it's supposed to be and where it is, making adjustments along the waybe and
Oct 11, 2015 6:55 AM - Bill Monroe: the second one is doing a similar thing only now it varies the voltage
Oct 11, 2015 6:56 AM - Bill Monroe: current mode reveals possible issues with hardware (remember my creedo) :)
Oct 11, 2015 6:57 AM - Bill Monroe: resolve any issues that may turn up as well as you can, then when you switch to voltage mode, things work much better
Oct 11, 2015 6:59 AM - Bill Monroe: this mismatched ends on the smallest circle was due to the abuse I was inflicting on the extra-fine sharpie tip :)
Oct 11, 2015 7:01 AM - Bill Monroe: Morning MG
Oct 11, 2015 7:01 AM - Mike Glass: morning, still waking up..
Oct 11, 2015 7:01 AM - Bill Monroe: heh I thought it was JB that asked about voltage.. just noticed it was you :)
    Oct 11, 2015 7:02 AM - Mike Glass: lol
Oct 11, 2015 7:02 AM - Mike Glass: so how big are those servo's
    Oct 11, 2015 7:03 AM - Bill Monroe: physically, they're somewhere bewtween a 23 and 34 stepper. electrically, 80VDC 12A rating
Oct 11, 2015 7:04 AM - Bill Monroe: one US dig encoder on the motor and one B&L glass scale on the machine, for each axis
    Oct 11, 2015 7:04 AM - Mike Glass: 12Amps wow
Oct 11, 2015 7:04 AM - Bill Monroe: btw, the pen wasnt floating.. the thinkiness of the line tells you how parallel the work surface is to the mechanism
Oct 11, 2015 7:05 AM - Bill Monroe: heheh "thinkiness"
Oct 11, 2015 7:05 AM - Bill Monroe: i'll need to work that into my A-B bit
Oct 11, 2015 7:06 AM - Bill Monroe: "the inclusion of the turbo framulator increases the thinkiness effectivity of the system"
Oct 11, 2015 7:08 AM - Mike Glass: is that like changing your muffler bearings?
    Oct 11, 2015 7:08 AM - Bill Monroe: no, that's just silly
Oct 11, 2015 7:09 AM - Bill Monroe: you've never seen the AB presentation?
Oct 11, 2015 7:11 AM - Mike Glass: not that I know of
Oct 11, 2015 7:11 AM - Bill Monroe: ok hang on
    Oct 11, 2015 7:12 AM - Bill Monroe:
Oct 11, 2015 7:13 AM - Mike Glass: oh that one, yea seen that..lol
Oct 11, 2015 7:14 AM - Bill Monroe: i memorized it years ago, tweaked it along the way.. fun to throw it out during design reviews when some VP weenie decides to sit in

Oct 11, 2015 7:15 AM - Mike Glass: that would be funny
Oct 11, 2015 7:16 AM - Bill Monroe: once a guy stopped me and asked to explain what a tremupipe was.. i thought he was smarter than he looked
Oct 11, 2015 7:16 AM - Bill Monroe: when I told him with was a conduit made up of ceramic marselvanes.. he just leaned back and resumed listening
Oct 11, 2015 7:17 AM - Bill Monroe: what an idiot
Oct 11, 2015 7:20 AM - Mike Glass: jb fall asleep?
Oct 11, 2015 7:21 AM - Bill Monroe: he's getting emotionally involved with his pawnrouter
    Oct 11, 2015 7:22 AM - Mike Glass: lol
Oct 11, 2015 7:23 AM - Bill Monroe: you know.. rebounding and all.. :)
Oct 11, 2015 7:28 AM - Mike Glass: I cant find any settings on engraving rocks, guess trial and error is gonna have to do.
    Oct 11, 2015 7:28 AM - Bill Monroe: yup
Oct 11, 2015 7:29 AM - Bill Monroe: protect your mecanism.. that dust kills machinery
    Oct 11, 2015 7:29 AM - Bill Monroe: mechanism
Oct 11, 2015 7:49 AM - nonmindo: Morning, anyone have the default, or good, retraction settings for cura? I forgot to take them down before making changes and now it retracts on every direction change, which is worrisome for small movements on large prints, afraid my stepper will over heat
    Oct 11, 2015 7:50 AM - Mike Glass: just turn it off..lol;
    Oct 11, 2015 7:52 AM - nonmindo: Ya?
Oct 11, 2015 7:52 AM - Mike Glass: you dont mind strings do you.
Oct 11, 2015 7:52 AM - nonmindo: Lol, gah, still trolling! Lolol
    Oct 11, 2015 7:53 AM - Mike Glass: I think default is 50speed and distance 1mm
Oct 11, 2015 7:56 AM - nonmindo: i dont think it was the basic settings... i think it was one of the expert settings (this is where i went wrong, im no expert!!)
Oct 11, 2015 7:56 AM - nonmindo: minimum travel distance is 510mm, minimal extrusion before retracting is 0.1
Oct 11, 2015 7:57 AM - nonmindo: im thinking it might be that last one
Oct 11, 2015 8:00 AM - Mike Glass: 1.5 is default min travel
Oct 11, 2015 8:00 AM - Mike Glass: .02 for minimal extrusion before retracting.
Oct 11, 2015 8:01 AM - nonmindo: hmm ok, how the hell did i get 510 for minimum lol
    Oct 11, 2015 8:02 AM - nonmindo: minimum travel
Oct 11, 2015 8:12 AM - Mike Glass: that could cause some issues..lol
Oct 11, 2015 8:13 AM - NFOsec: Travel has been minimal for me for a while these days.
Oct 11, 2015 8:14 AM - Mike Glass: Hey NFO
    Oct 11, 2015 8:14 AM - nonmindo: lol
Oct 11, 2015 8:15 AM - Mike Glass: I thought you were traveling all over town yesterday.
Oct 11, 2015 8:15 AM - nonmindo: i forgot i had an old computer in the office, just installed cura there and got the full settings, yea i totzally screwed up that minimum travel
Oct 11, 2015 8:16 AM - Mike Glass: that means you didnt have any retraction?
Oct 11, 2015 8:16 AM - nonmindo: no it was retracting like mad for some reason
Oct 11, 2015 8:16 AM - Mike Glass: man I can not get a good engraving on this rock.
Oct 11, 2015 8:16 AM - nonmindo: i would think it would be 0 retraction too with 510mm
Oct 11, 2015 8:17 AM - nonmindo: from the distance im sitting from my tv, that didnt look like "rock"
Oct 11, 2015 8:17 AM - Mike Glass: not "The Rock"
Oct 11, 2015 8:17 AM - nonmindo: jesus.... my print time on this part went from 17hrs to 13 after changing those settings back
Oct 11, 2015 8:18 AM - NFOsec: MG: yeah, but not in town, out of town, nothing realistically available local.
Oct 11, 2015 8:18 AM - Mike Glass: what settings do you on rocks NFO
Oct 11, 2015 8:18 AM - nonmindo: safe to run the printer for 10+hrs @ 90mm/s infill and 80mm/s shells?
Oct 11, 2015 8:18 AM - NFOsec: nom: I don't know if Jesus had anything to do but he's been known to have cura some diseases.
Oct 11, 2015 8:19 AM - NFOsec: Sure, look at Bill.
Oct 11, 2015 8:19 AM - nonmindo: NFO.....ohh man.... that actually got a little chuckle out of me
Oct 11, 2015 8:19 AM - nonmindo: true he does run pretty fast doesnt he
Oct 11, 2015 8:19 AM - nonmindo: well i dont know how fast HE runs
Oct 11, 2015 8:20 AM - nonmindo: but his printer
Oct 11, 2015 8:20 AM - NFOsec: not just fast, but long and constant. Probably why 2.0 likes him.
    Oct 11, 2015 8:20 AM - nonmindo: lol
    Oct 11, 2015 8:20 AM - nonmindo: ohh man
Oct 11, 2015 8:20 AM - NFOsec: yeah, his printer is at nominal scream stages.
Oct 11, 2015 8:21 AM - Mike Glass: is 500 at 50% to fast for rock?
Oct 11, 2015 8:22 AM - nonmindo: apparently my room sits at a cool 20c
Oct 11, 2015 8:23 AM - NFOsec: I would say if the rock disagrees with you, probably so. go 200-300.
Oct 11, 2015 8:23 AM - Mike Glass: with all the machines in my office, it gets quite warm.
Oct 11, 2015 8:23 AM - Mike Glass: I just cant find any settings other than the ones on that list but the power is really low on them.
Oct 11, 2015 8:23 AM - nonmindo: it'll warm up in here in a few, just turned on tv and stereo and printer warming up too, will prolly need to turn the AC on
Oct 11, 2015 8:24 AM - Mike Glass: its only 60 here today, yesterday was 83, gotta love MT weather.
Oct 11, 2015 8:25 AM - nonmindo: we had aa frewk weather system run through yesterday, poured all day, buckets.....supposed to be around 65 today and clear lol
    Oct 11, 2015 8:25 AM - nonmindo: freak*
Oct 11, 2015 8:27 AM - NFOsec: every day is freak weather here.
Oct 11, 2015 8:27 AM - NFOsec: let me pull up the stones throw list and see what I had set.
Oct 11, 2015 8:28 AM - nonmindo: is your wood list called "woodn't ya know"?
Oct 11, 2015 8:28 AM - NFOsec: do you know for certain the stone doesn't contain metal?
Oct 11, 2015 8:29 AM - Mike Glass: I have no Idea, just a river rock.
Oct 11, 2015 8:29 AM - NFOsec: No, it's How Hard is It? then how much speed and power you should use accordingly.
Oct 11, 2015 8:39 AM - NFOsec: well, I did the slow speed of 50 with 80 power, but a vast majority of my rocks have been those smooth grey ones found on beaches, but that doesn't mean much. I've also seen some coated like they do with metal (Cermark).
Oct 11, 2015 8:43 AM - Mike Glass: cermark works with rocks?
    Oct 11, 2015 8:44 AM - Mike Glass: im on my 5 pass..lol
Oct 11, 2015 8:47 AM - Mike Glass: I really hate this software, everytime you go back it deletes your project..
Oct 11, 2015 8:58 AM - NFOsec: you mean if you delete something it doesn't recall enough CTRL-Z/Y steps? yeah. I know.
Oct 11, 2015 8:58 AM - NFOsec: you learn to work around it.
Oct 11, 2015 8:58 AM - NFOsec: Hey MG, this would be a cool project. http://sfglobe.com/2015/03/17/this-...as=14936_promo_1444579178&eid=38787&pid=14936

Oct 11, 2015 9:07 AM - Bill Monroe: hello, I've had my robo running well in excess of 24 hours and it's fine
    Oct 11, 2015 9:08 AM - Bill Monroe: i'm building a 1200 sq ft garage with a loft :)
Oct 11, 2015 9:08 AM - Bill Monroe: well. actually, it's 1199 cuz 1200 is too big according to my county's code
Oct 11, 2015 9:09 AM - Mattchu: I love silliness like that, Bill
    Oct 11, 2015 9:09 AM - Bill Monroe: they're all Irish

Oct 11, 2015 9:10 AM - Mattchu: my trouble right now is finding Weld On #3 for this acrylic >_<
Oct 11, 2015 9:10 AM - Bill Monroe: they married into the O'Libtard family
Oct 11, 2015 9:11 AM - Bill Monroe: should be easy to get

Oct 11, 2015 9:12 AM - Bill Monroe: here, you can build whatever you want... if you're gay
    Oct 11, 2015 9:12 AM - Mattchu: lame, Bill!
Oct 11, 2015 9:13 AM - Bill Monroe: well, take a look at that abomination slum project they're erecting on the NW corner of 15 & MM Blvd
Oct 11, 2015 9:13 AM - Bill Monroe: and guess who the developer is
Oct 11, 2015 9:14 AM - Bill Monroe: yup, Carl DeMaio
Oct 11, 2015 9:14 AM - Mattchu: slum my ass...I looked into the prices to live in those
    Oct 11, 2015 9:15 AM - Mattchu: I can't afford those O_O
Oct 11, 2015 9:15 AM - Bill Monroe: and now you know whay, despite being wealthy, he wanted to be mayor
Oct 11, 2015 9:15 AM - Mike Glass: How do you convert a pdf to a usable dfx or milling file.
Oct 11, 2015 9:15 AM - Bill Monroe: i dont think you can.. scale would be a problem
Oct 11, 2015 9:15 AM - Bill Monroe: there's apps that can take a raster to vector
Oct 11, 2015 9:16 AM - Mike Glass: I can print pdf to scale on the plotter
Oct 11, 2015 9:16 AM - Mattchu: what bill said...you'd probably have to go from dwg to DXF...but it's always a sketchy conversion I hear.
Oct 11, 2015 9:16 AM - Bill Monroe: then maybe use some cad skills to scale it
Oct 11, 2015 9:16 AM - Mike Glass: maybe it was corel draw that works.
Oct 11, 2015 9:16 AM - Bill Monroe: ya Matt.. there's a china-like traffic holocaust out of there every morning as it is.. and they're still building!!!
    Oct 11, 2015 9:20 AM - Mattchu: lol
    Oct 11, 2015 9:42 AM - Mike Kelly: morning
Oct 11, 2015 9:49 AM - Mike Glass: how we feeling today Mike
    Oct 11, 2015 9:49 AM - Mattchu: hey MK
    Oct 11, 2015 9:53 AM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
Oct 11, 2015 9:53 AM - jbigler1986: Going to put a coat of poly on it and be done
    Oct 11, 2015 9:54 AM - Mattchu: niiiice JB!
Oct 11, 2015 9:54 AM - jbigler1986: I love that color of stain for some reason
Oct 11, 2015 9:54 AM - Mike Glass: nice, what wood did you use?
Oct 11, 2015 9:55 AM - Mike Glass: looks like pine
Oct 11, 2015 9:55 AM - jbigler1986: It is. I just grabbed whatever at the hardware store. Going to grab some hard woods today
    Oct 11, 2015 9:59 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm feeling alright
    Oct 11, 2015 9:59 AM - Mike Kelly: that's awesome jb
Oct 11, 2015 10:00 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm reprinting onf of my roller blocks because one side wasn't making good contact with the conduit and would shift when transitioning back
Oct 11, 2015 10:00 AM - Mike Kelly: causing binding
Oct 11, 2015 10:00 AM - Mike Kelly: i tried printing one yesterday but the rep2 is such a fickle bitch it came out crappy
Oct 11, 2015 10:01 AM - Mike Kelly: can't believe i need to use an oiler for ABS with it
    Oct 11, 2015 10:01 AM - jbigler1986: Really?
    Oct 11, 2015 10:01 AM - Mike Kelly: really
Oct 11, 2015 10:01 AM - Mike Glass: I put the code in mine, there was alot of changes from mine.
    Oct 11, 2015 10:01 AM - jbigler1986: Damn the rep2
    Oct 11, 2015 10:01 AM - Mike Kelly: code?
Oct 11, 2015 10:02 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm printing a block on each printer so one should be good enough...
    Oct 11, 2015 10:02 AM - jbigler1986: Hopefully
    Oct 11, 2015 10:02 AM - jbigler1986: So you have 3 going?
    Oct 11, 2015 10:02 AM - Mike Kelly: just 2
Oct 11, 2015 10:03 AM - jbigler1986: The robomk is probably the only one that will be good
Oct 11, 2015 10:03 AM - Mike Kelly: i don't think it's warm enough in the garage anymore to print on the 1.7 without an enclosure
Oct 11, 2015 10:03 AM - Mike Kelly: printed solid was supposed to mail me one, but he spaced it
Oct 11, 2015 10:03 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm tempted to ask one of the laser guys to cut me a new .25" one for it
Oct 11, 2015 10:04 AM - jbigler1986: So I tried to wire the spindle last night to a cheap speed controller from Menard's. You could hear it get power but wouldn't spin. Oh well
    Oct 11, 2015 10:04 AM - Mike Kelly: ah
Oct 11, 2015 10:04 AM - Mike Kelly: you need one that can handle the current draw
Oct 11, 2015 10:04 AM - Mike Glass: new firmware MK
    Oct 11, 2015 10:04 AM - jbigler1986: I was reading that without a vfd it won't "start"
Oct 11, 2015 10:05 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm confused, what was that in response to MG
Oct 11, 2015 10:05 AM - Mike Kelly: that makes sense
Oct 11, 2015 10:05 AM - Mike Kelly: the frequency gets all messed up going through those dimmer switches
Oct 11, 2015 10:05 AM - Mike Kelly: you had it all the way up i presume
    Oct 11, 2015 10:05 AM - jbigler1986: I trying adjusting it and full power
    Oct 11, 2015 10:06 AM - Mike Kelly: right
    Oct 11, 2015 10:06 AM - Mike Kelly: hmm
Oct 11, 2015 10:06 AM - Mike Kelly: wire a switch in parallel, start it up with the switch then enable the speed control
Oct 11, 2015 10:06 AM - Mike Kelly: then turn off the switch
Oct 11, 2015 10:07 AM - jbigler1986: Well I'm not even sure of I had the wiring right
    Oct 11, 2015 10:07 AM - jbigler1986: 3 phase motor wiring is weird
    Oct 11, 2015 10:07 AM - Mike Kelly: 120v wouldn't be 3 phase
    Oct 11, 2015 10:08 AM - Mike Glass:
Oct 11, 2015 10:08 AM - jbigler1986: You can run them off single phase. But you need a "2 phase" to start it. Which is way above my head on wiring
Oct 11, 2015 10:09 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah AC confuses me
    Oct 11, 2015 10:09 AM - donhuevo: hola
    Oct 11, 2015 10:09 AM - Mike Kelly: hola
    Oct 11, 2015 10:09 AM - jbigler1986: Hello
    Oct 11, 2015 10:09 AM - jbigler1986: Been working all weekend?
Oct 11, 2015 10:09 AM - Mike Glass: single phase you mean, 2 phase is 230
Oct 11, 2015 10:10 AM - Mike Glass: Hey don
    Oct 11, 2015 10:10 AM - donhuevo: howdy
Oct 11, 2015 10:11 AM - donhuevo: if you're asking me, yes... working all weekend. mind numbing data entry. had to take a break
Oct 11, 2015 10:11 AM - Mike Glass: or single phase is 230 something like that. I cant remember now
Oct 11, 2015 10:12 AM - Mike Glass: oh that sounds fun don
Oct 11, 2015 10:12 AM - donhuevo: technically 240 is two phase but nobody calls it that
Oct 11, 2015 10:12 AM - donhuevo: what I never understood was the three phase wild leg
Oct 11, 2015 10:13 AM - donhuevo: magically, the voltage between any two of the three hots is 240 but one of the three hots to ground is 208 instead of 120 or some such thing
Oct 11, 2015 10:16 AM - Mike Glass: all I know is that it shoocks you.
Oct 11, 2015 10:16 AM - Mike Glass: or shocks too
Oct 11, 2015 10:16 AM - donhuevo: I stuck to residential and light commercial. I stayed away from industrial 3 phase
Oct 11, 2015 10:17 AM - donhuevo: because anything that has something named a wild leg should be avoided
Oct 11, 2015 10:21 AM - Kevin Nguyen: alright guys my prints have way to much stringing and oozing. what are some steps i should take to fix this?
Oct 11, 2015 10:21 AM - donhuevo: bump up your retraction
Oct 11, 2015 10:28 AM - Mike Glass: too much heat?
    Oct 11, 2015 10:33 AM - Bill Monroe: back
    Oct 11, 2015 10:34 AM - donhuevo: stranger danger
Oct 11, 2015 10:34 AM - Bill Monroe: <-- made a rotary phase converter to run my 3 phase equipment on 220 single
    Oct 11, 2015 10:39 AM - jbigler1986: Keg?
Oct 11, 2015 10:40 AM - jbigler1986: God damn alcohol laws in Indiana
    Oct 11, 2015 10:41 AM - jbigler1986: Forgot I can't buy beer on Sunday unless carry out from restaurant/brewery
Oct 11, 2015 10:41 AM - toymaker: i have an old 3 phase table saw running on 220 single also

    Oct 11, 2015 10:44 AM - Bill Monroe: yup!
Oct 11, 2015 10:45 AM - Bill Monroe: i've got a vertical mill, lathe, 20" disc sander, and a massive band saw all running off the same lil converter
Oct 11, 2015 10:45 AM - Bill Monroe: helps having a Dad that spent his life as a union electrician :)
Oct 11, 2015 10:46 AM - toymaker: how many can u run at once?
Oct 11, 2015 10:46 AM - Bill Monroe: dunno.. can use more than one at once so, never tried

Oct 11, 2015 1:00 PM - Mike Kelly: i think i want to make it bigger as well
    Oct 11, 2015 1:00 PM - Mike Glass:
Oct 11, 2015 1:00 PM - Mike Kelly: there's space to go longer and that would resist the moment better
Oct 11, 2015 1:01 PM - Mike Kelly: maybe add another bearing on the single side
    Oct 11, 2015 1:01 PM - Mike Glass: moment or movement..lol
Oct 11, 2015 1:01 PM - Mike Kelly: moment, basically the torque
