When I tried to print a Christ the Redeemer statuette (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:21808), I turned on support material because I foolishly thought it could print without it the first time. When I tried to slice it after I had it generate support material for it, the green progress bar got stuck at "Generating support material". I left it for about a half hour, came back, still with no more progress. I then let it sit for an hour, came back, same thing. Anybody else have this problem and find a solution? Thanks.

Other than trying another slicer? Nope.
Try Cura or Matter control (which can use either) or KISSlicer.

I would expect that to take a while, but not as long as you seem to be seeing...
