I began using ABS this weekend and its been difficult from the get go , mostly within MC.
First I noticed after switching MC to ABS material my level was off. With PLA I had an offset of -1.2 with ABS it changed to 0 (zero) ?
Also noticed MC autoleveling would switch from disabled to enabled whenever I restarted MC (didn't affect the offset value or print level)

I couldn't get a print to stick and concluded it must be the heated bed so I changed the temp from 90 to 40.
but the temp. would always climb to high 80s. Finally I changed it to 0 (Zero) but no matter what , but it would still rise to high 80s. Finally I had to disconnect the heated bed to keep it from heating up.

One thing I should note; I did uninstall and reinstall MC in the beginning of this, I noted my MC was 1.1.2 and Mike suggested (a few weeks ago) not upgrading from 1.1.1 so I thought perhaps that's the issue, But the robo 3d link now installs 1.1.2
Any comments would be appreciated on a fix.

Well, not sure why the temp is misbehaving for you but I think you will find that you want a hot heated bed for ABS.
I used 80 for most things, but for flatter/larger objects as high as 110.
