Strings and blobs

So what's the trick to get rid of the strings and blobs. My prints look good but I have lots of small strings that dangle off them and some blobs from when the hot end lifts up. The strings are no thicker than a hair and can be burnt off or torn off.

Anyone have any ticks I'm missing,

using slic3r. E3d v6 hot end

 

They tend to be filament related. Usually it's a matter of trying different temperatures and retraction settings.
