Solved unable to connect to my printer

    My printer has become completely unresponsive. when i try to connect to my printer in Matter Control it says com 4 isn't available. I've tried reinstalling the diver but it has no effect. I've tried uploading new firmware but it gives me this error

    avrdude: stk500v2_ReceiveMessage(): timeout
    avrdude: stk500v2_ReceiveMessage(): timeout
    avrdude: stk500v2_ReceiveMessage(): timeout
    avrdude: stk500v2_ReceiveMessage(): timeout
    avrdude: stk500v2_ReceiveMessage(): timeout
    avrdude: stk500v2_ReceiveMessage(): timeout
    avrdude: stk500v2_getsync(): timeout communicating with programmer

    i don't know what to do I've tried almost everything i could find online.

    Is there any way i cant tell if my board is fried/damaged

    Probably needs a new Arduino Mega.
    If you had the tools reflashing the boot loader* would (maybe) help but you can just swap the Arduino and reload the firmware.



    *I have had this work about 30% of the time, so now I usually don't even bother given how cheap they are. It requires special tools -- I use an AVR Pocket Programmer -- although you can make one Arduino work as a boot loader for another -- incestuous, no?
