I've disconnected the hot end off of the extruder. What size are the two screws that hold the hot end in place? I'm going to take the screws with me but I have a tendency to lose small parts and in case they get lost I want to make sure I pick up the right ones.

(I have to put them in my hoodie pocket which is open. Being in a wheelchair can be a pain at times)

put them in a plastic bag and its less likely to get lost.

We did figure out the size. I don't have the package of screws in front of me, but I believe they're M3s. I'll have more specifics later.

Ok. Looked at the package. The screws that hold the hotend in place are 3mm .5 x 25mm. The .5 represents the screw pitch.

hrm. Interesting. I took mine to the hardware store and we looked for a nut that fit. That was the 3mm .5 x 25mm

it took me a second to read what you said. they are #6 - 32 screws. Or at least should be, most of the hardware they used is in imperial. That said the M3 .5 rods are very close though, close enough that the possibility the Chinese pulled the old "eh, close enough."

I'd believe it was M3 over #6, they seem to use all metric from what I gathered.

I would imagine that would be easier to have all screw either metric or imperial, but they do have some of both, like the threaded rod seems to be a 5/16"inch and the smooth rod seems to be 8mm

yeah but besides the rods are there any other imperial? I'm fairly sure everything hardware wise is M3 or so.

Most of the hardware is m3 and m4, metric threaded rods are harder to come by, I'm guessing that's why they went with imperial.

According to the videos they use imperial screws :

5/16" on the x assembly (dont know the lenght)+ washers and nuts
6.32" x 1" to hold the hot end and the filament latch

I think that's it, but I cant tell for sure, for the lack of info.

    cheers

    Seshan,

Originally they probably sourced from the US, They should switch to Metric rods if they can, it helps eliminate z ribbing.

yeah, but it's still imperial, they should go with trapezoidal thread rod.
