Just got my second ROBO R1 printer today. I ruined my first one when I tried to install the ED3 hot end.
I asked if the people at ROBO if they could install the ED3 print head for me when I ordered the new printer. They Emailed back saying that they now supply the new HEXAGON hot end on their printers as advertised, so I ordered the new ROBO R1. It came today with the old hot end (with the plastic end-not the new HEXAGON end). This seems to be a bait and switch scheme. I emailed Robo with my complete, but as yet got no response. I do not know if the new HEXAGON hot end will fit on this piece of junk that they sent me.

Please take a picture. I'm not sure about what you're telling me.

    Hi Herbert,

It's actually impossible that you would have gotten a J-head. You may be mistaking the rubber boot that insulates the hotend and holds the thermistor in place, for the upper plastic component of the J-head style hotend.

Can you please post a pic of your hotend so we can confirm?
