Unresolved Z rod - unthreaded

I sit in a place at work where people seem to bump into my Robo 3D and the other day I found the un-threaded z rod outside of its hole at the top of the printer. Does anyone know how to set the rod back into place? I can't seem to move the rod down enough to clear enough space in order to get it back into place. Thanks!

 

You might need to remove the 4 screws that hold the lid in. then pull up on the lid base a bit till it pops up.

Thanks so much! I was able to fix the rod and the caps helped to hold them in place.
