Hi guys, I am fairly new to making custom G codes so I was hoping someone could help me out.

I am trying to pause my print multiple times so I can add different colors to my print. I am using the auto layer pause option on Matter control and it pauses just fine. My issue was that the Z axis wouldn't raise when it paused, so it was melting into my part before I could resume my print.

Under the Pause Custom G code option I entered..

    G91
    G1 Z10
G90. That is working awesome but no matter what I try for the resume G codes I cannot get it to resume properly.

Can someone help me out here? What do I need to do to resume my print after I have paused it?

So I did exactly what the other thread suggested and the pause G codes still work perfectly but when I hit "Resume" all my printer does is make a buzzing noise.

    What am I doing wrong?

You might want to loop in one of those folks in that thread.
    I don't do that (pause/move/resume)

@Morichalion , @sesl or one of the others.

I've had good success with filament changes mid print by issuing this in the console:
    G4 S030

This gives me 30 seconds of pause to remove and change to another spool. If you need more or less time change the number accordingly. After it counts to 30 seconds (example above) it will resume whether or not you are done so practice makes perfect.

There are probably better ways, this is the one I found works for me.

Does that lift the Z axis at all or does it stay where it was paused? My issue is the hot end melts into the part after being paused.

It does NOT raise the Z. I print PLA at about 190C and haven't had melting issues so far.

LOL, it does require you to be able to do a clean change quickly, practice is a requirement.

@Rigmarol your lcd should have a change filament function :D. Much nicer than the pause.

@Timk are you looking to pause at a specific height and change filament? Or just when a spool runs out? Easiest way as I meantioned above is to use an LCD controller with the color change option.

I am trying to pause at a couple specific hights so I can change to a different color. I do not have an LCD, but maybe that's my best option.
Any recommendations for an LCD that has a color change option?

Marlin firmware has the filament change option, not the LCD controller. The controller is just a display and whether you have the 4 line character based or the full graphics LCD controller they will both have change filament listing in one of the menus, provided it is enabled in the firmware.

It might be a Marlin 1.1.0 feature only, I haven't used the original Robo firmware in so long I forget what isn't in there.
