    Jul 25, 2015 7:56 AM - donhuevo: that's why I try compensating everywhere else I can
Jul 25, 2015 7:57 AM - donhuevo: once I can tighten the piss out of my x belt, I may take the acceleration over 1000 again
Jul 25, 2015 7:58 AM - Mike Glass: 14.94 mm is what the part measures, 15 mm is the part size, so pretty close
Jul 25, 2015 7:58 AM - donhuevo: some if not all of that loss is smoosh
Jul 25, 2015 7:59 AM - Mike Glass: that and 10% infill will make it smaller also
    Jul 25, 2015 8:00 AM - donhuevo: shouldn't affect the shell though
Jul 25, 2015 8:00 AM - Mike Glass: sags in the middle of the print a little
    Jul 25, 2015 8:00 AM - donhuevo: ah
Jul 25, 2015 8:01 AM - Mike Glass: should always use 4 top layers, I did 3 for testing
Jul 25, 2015 8:05 AM - jbigler1986: Whats the ubuntu disk untility called than you can launch from usb? Cant think of the name
Jul 25, 2015 8:06 AM - Mike Glass: what does it do?
    Jul 25, 2015 8:07 AM - jbigler1986: Gparted. Got it
Jul 25, 2015 8:08 AM - donhuevo: haven't taken the bed off in a while. just found this. not sure what to make of it [IMG]
Jul 25, 2015 8:09 AM - donhuevo: pillow block screw head did that
    Jul 25, 2015 8:13 AM - Mike Glass: ouch
    Jul 25, 2015 8:13 AM - Mike Glass: loose?
    Jul 25, 2015 8:13 AM - donhuevo: no, they're tight
Jul 25, 2015 8:14 AM - Mike Glass: well then ...how
Jul 25, 2015 8:15 AM - Mike Glass: bent rod?
Jul 25, 2015 8:15 AM - donhuevo: only thing I can figure is that my z switches aren't sensitive enough and the weight of the stepper is deflecting the glass
Jul 25, 2015 8:15 AM - Mike Glass: I see they are awefull close on mine
Jul 25, 2015 8:17 AM - Mike Glass: is it on the left side?
Jul 25, 2015 8:17 AM - donhuevo: both sides worse on the motor side
Jul 25, 2015 8:18 AM - donhuevo: might be time to replace the lm8uu's
Jul 25, 2015 8:18 AM - Mike Glass: my cork does not go that far on mine
Jul 25, 2015 8:18 AM - Mike Glass: or it would rub
Jul 25, 2015 8:19 AM - donhuevo: I have an uncomfortable amount of vertical movement of the rods in the bearings
Jul 25, 2015 8:19 AM - Mike Glass: in fact I can see that it does come close on the left side and it does rub on the edge
Jul 25, 2015 8:20 AM - Mike Glass: time to put the drawer slides back on.
Jul 25, 2015 8:22 AM - donhuevo: just decided since I'm gonna flip it for these pillow blocks, I'm going to put on the rest of the parts I've already made. I'll worry about the new carriage later
Jul 25, 2015 8:25 AM - donhuevo: damnit. wishing I had my z probe worked out
    Jul 25, 2015 8:28 AM - Mike Kelly: Mornin
Jul 25, 2015 8:32 AM - Mike Glass: Hey Mike
    Jul 25, 2015 8:32 AM - donhuevo: mornin mike
Jul 25, 2015 8:33 AM - Mike Glass: Mike, can you get me borrow the SW file for your lcd swivel back?
Jul 25, 2015 8:35 AM - Mike Kelly: Uh sure
    Jul 25, 2015 8:40 AM - donhuevo: and gutted
Jul 25, 2015 8:41 AM - Mike Glass: still nice corners at 90 don
    Jul 25, 2015 8:41 AM - donhuevo: cool
Jul 25, 2015 8:43 AM - Mike Glass: dont think I will push it any faster though
Jul 25, 2015 8:43 AM - donhuevo: at least not until bowden
    Jul 25, 2015 8:44 AM - Mike Glass: yeppers
Jul 25, 2015 9:01 AM - WheresWaldo: @don, Just reprint the top half of the pillow blocks with a recess for the screw head. If you do that there will be plenty of clearance to the bottom edge of the cork insulator. You can use the files MK has on Thingiverse as a start.
Jul 25, 2015 9:04 AM - donhuevo: better to treat the cause than the symptom
Jul 25, 2015 9:05 AM - WheresWaldo: I found that the adhesive on the back of the cork is not very good and it sags after a while. Not the best job putting it on in the first place. Still, after you determine what the actual cause is, it won't be a bad idea to reprint them anyway.
Jul 25, 2015 9:06 AM - donhuevo: true. printer gutted at the moment though. I'll have to save that print for later
    Jul 25, 2015 9:12 AM - Mike Kelly: MG 2015 ok? https://www.dropbox.com/s/3zbidp6gabln9pu/XXL LCD.zip?dl=0
Jul 25, 2015 9:18 AM - daniel871: Could running more metal hvac tape across the cork keep it from sagging?
Jul 25, 2015 9:19 AM - daniel871: Cause I have some rolls of that leftover from a repair project I did with my dad on his ac.
Jul 25, 2015 9:21 AM - WheresWaldo: No the aluminum tape will just sag with the cork. I know from experience.
Jul 25, 2015 9:25 AM - Mike Glass: Thank you MK
    Jul 25, 2015 9:27 AM - jbigler1986: Hello there MK
    Jul 25, 2015 9:29 AM - Mike Kelly: hi
Jul 25, 2015 9:40 AM - Mike Glass: no more rattling MK
    Jul 25, 2015 9:41 AM - Mike Kelly: rattling?
Jul 25, 2015 9:41 AM - Mike Glass: the threaded rods rattle
Jul 25, 2015 9:42 AM - Mike Glass: so much quieter
    Jul 25, 2015 9:42 AM - Mike Glass: [IMG]
    Jul 25, 2015 9:43 AM - donhuevo: so much prettier without HfnC's
    Jul 25, 2015 9:43 AM - Mike Kelly: nice
    Jul 25, 2015 9:43 AM - Mike Glass: [IMG]
Jul 25, 2015 9:44 AM - Mike Glass: looks cleaner now
Jul 25, 2015 9:44 AM - Mike Glass: im printing pucks to put under your feet.
Jul 25, 2015 9:45 AM - Mike Kelly: for added space?
Jul 25, 2015 9:46 AM - Mike Glass: yea did you see my fan, I flipped the psu and cutout the grill, put the 25mm fan on it.
    Jul 25, 2015 9:46 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah
Jul 25, 2015 9:46 AM - Mike Kelly: are you using the 20mm tall ones already?
Jul 25, 2015 9:47 AM - Mike Glass: no the 10 but needed at least 25mm
    Jul 25, 2015 9:50 AM - Mike Kelly: oh
Jul 25, 2015 10:10 AM - donhuevo: so I stole that 6025 radial out of a busted lexmark a while back. it's gonna be my new ramps fan
    Jul 25, 2015 10:12 AM - Mike Kelly: nice
Jul 25, 2015 10:12 AM - Mike Kelly: big blower
Jul 25, 2015 10:13 AM - donhuevo: I'll mount it pretty much on top of the yellow caution sticker. 25 is tall enough to blow over the ramps and in between the boards as well
Jul 25, 2015 10:19 AM - donhuevo: shit... better take a picture of that so's I remember what it says
    Jul 25, 2015 10:37 AM - Mike Kelly: WARNING YOU BOUGHT A ROBO3D PRINTER
Jul 25, 2015 10:37 AM - Mike Kelly: there ya go
    Jul 25, 2015 10:37 AM - donhuevo: frame that and I'm good
    Jul 25, 2015 10:39 AM - donhuevo: I wasn't mentally prepared for a total teardown today
Jul 25, 2015 10:42 AM - Mike Kelly: but do you have the printed parts?
    Jul 25, 2015 10:44 AM - jbigler1986: Lol
Jul 25, 2015 10:44 AM - donhuevo: everything but the new carriage was already printed
    Jul 25, 2015 10:44 AM - donhuevo: fresh lm8uu's for the bed
Jul 25, 2015 10:45 AM - donhuevo: I'll have my new belt tensioning thing today
Jul 25, 2015 11:32 AM - Mike Glass: Mike, have you printed the swivel mount?
Jul 25, 2015 12:20 PM - donhuevo: stole your idea mg 60x25 outside the power supply
    Jul 25, 2015 12:24 PM - jbigler1986: Not allowed. Im telling robo
    Jul 25, 2015 12:24 PM - Mike Glass: o_O
Jul 25, 2015 12:25 PM - Mike Glass: did you cut out the grille

    Jul 25, 2015 12:28 PM - jbigler1986: Just liquid cool it
Jul 25, 2015 12:29 PM - jbigler1986: Im gonna have 2 window air conditioners blowing on mine when i get it back. Never going to overheat
    Jul 25, 2015 12:41 PM - jbigler1986: Date night. Oh yeah

Jul 25, 2015 1:48 PM - donhuevo: I forgot how much longer it takes to put something back together. so much faster taking it apart
Jul 25, 2015 1:49 PM - Mike Glass: Mike just put the upgrade for the Z on the MPCNC, man that is sweet

    Jul 25, 2015 1:51 PM - Mike Kelly: awesome
    Jul 25, 2015 1:51 PM - Mike Kelly: i saw your picture
Jul 25, 2015 1:52 PM - Mike Glass: lol the one I just posted on thiniverse?
Jul 25, 2015 1:54 PM - Mike Glass: ugg this noisey gregs wade is gonna drive me craza
Jul 25, 2015 2:08 PM - Mike Kelly: move printer to garage, no noise
Jul 25, 2015 2:09 PM - Mike Glass: to dusty
    Jul 25, 2015 2:13 PM - Mike Kelly: enclosure
Jul 25, 2015 4:10 PM - Mike Glass: I got a competitor for squinty don.
    Jul 25, 2015 4:11 PM - donhuevo: show me
Jul 25, 2015 4:13 PM - Mike Glass: well ok. [IMG]
Jul 25, 2015 4:14 PM - donhuevo: I still like squinty better but still... not bad
Jul 25, 2015 4:15 PM - Mike Glass: are you still dicting around
    Jul 25, 2015 4:15 PM - Mike Glass: that is a model of myself..lol
Jul 25, 2015 4:17 PM - donhuevo: got a crappy set of lm8uu's. I'm binding enough to trip the z switches before the nozzle hits the bed. Oh and the x belt tensioner was a total failure. I used a 5mm threaded bolt for the axle and it bent
Jul 25, 2015 4:17 PM - Mike Glass: surprizing it came out as nice as it did, I did this at 85 on the speed.
Jul 25, 2015 4:18 PM - donhuevo: you'll only hit 85 in the middle of straight runs because of the acceleration reduction
Jul 25, 2015 4:18 PM - Mike Glass: can you soak them in mineral oil to get the impurites out.
Jul 25, 2015 4:19 PM - donhuevo: I don't think mineral oil will do anything to make gravel-shaped bearings round
Jul 25, 2015 4:21 PM - Mike Glass: it saved like an hour and a half from what I regularly print at, still impressive, at least to me
    Jul 25, 2015 4:27 PM - donhuevo: definitely.
Jul 25, 2015 4:27 PM - donhuevo: faster, quieter... look at you go
Jul 25, 2015 4:27 PM - Mike Glass: I have a whole box of them, why dont you live down the street.
Jul 25, 2015 4:28 PM - donhuevo: the ones that were in my old idler ends are still good and smooth. they've already been harvested. just need to tear down a little again. back is spasming from leaning over it all day. taking a sanity break
Jul 25, 2015 4:29 PM - Mike Glass: yea, printer repair is hard work, 3 hours I was at last night. here is the latest look. [IMG]
Jul 25, 2015 4:32 PM - Mike Glass: now need to work on my filament pulley.
Jul 25, 2015 4:33 PM - Mike Glass: kinda liked jb's frankenstien look, but might take up too much room on my desk, cause a guy needs alot of monitors ya know
Jul 25, 2015 4:36 PM - donhuevo: why is it just sitting there? why isn't it printing something? make it go
Jul 25, 2015 4:39 PM - Mike Glass: haha, Im waiting for allted to upload files, so I can print my adjustable feet for the cnc.
Jul 25, 2015 4:41 PM - Mike Glass: ok will print another switchblade keychain.
Jul 25, 2015 4:42 PM - donhuevo: when I'm in CAD and don't have a part I need to print at the moment, I'll have it do a squinty or something
Jul 25, 2015 4:43 PM - Mike Glass: how many do you have, did you show any yet.
    Jul 25, 2015 4:43 PM - donhuevo: I've given a bunch away
Jul 25, 2015 4:47 PM - Mike Glass: I'm almost done with my 1st bottle of hairspray.
Jul 25, 2015 4:48 PM - Mike Kelly: that's about on par with how long it took me to use one
Jul 25, 2015 4:48 PM - Mike Kelly: i finally got shelving for my filaments
Jul 25, 2015 4:48 PM - Mike Glass: yeah been 8 months now almost to the day
Jul 25, 2015 4:50 PM - Mike Glass: you dont keep them on ice
Jul 25, 2015 4:51 PM - donhuevo: I'm almost to the end of my second can
Jul 25, 2015 4:52 PM - Mike Glass: So, when you run faster speeds, do you notice that you have to turn up the heat?
    Jul 25, 2015 4:52 PM - donhuevo: yep
Jul 25, 2015 4:53 PM - Mike Glass: ok, never really heard anybody talk about it.
Jul 25, 2015 4:53 PM - Mike Kelly: that's why people use the volcano
Jul 25, 2015 4:54 PM - donhuevo: it helps the extruder keep up with the extra demand
Jul 25, 2015 4:54 PM - Mike Glass: looks like 5 to 10 degrees difference or so sound right?
    Jul 25, 2015 4:54 PM - jbigler1986: Back
    Jul 25, 2015 4:54 PM - donhuevo: I'm running my PLA at 200
Jul 25, 2015 4:54 PM - Mike Glass: Im running mine at 225
    Jul 25, 2015 4:55 PM - donhuevo: oh
Jul 25, 2015 4:55 PM - Mike Glass: or it starts to turn white
    Jul 25, 2015 4:55 PM - jbigler1986: Im running mine at 400 degrees fahrenheit
    Jul 25, 2015 4:56 PM - jbigler1986: Parents oven wont do Celsius
Jul 25, 2015 4:57 PM - Mike Glass: at least for the first 2 layers then down to like 215, but the justpla likes more heat then the other filaments for some reason.
    Jul 25, 2015 4:57 PM - jbigler1986: Yes it does
Jul 25, 2015 4:57 PM - donhuevo: good to know
Jul 25, 2015 4:58 PM - Bill Monroe: good afternoon
Jul 25, 2015 4:58 PM - Mike Glass: im doing this part at .15 and took about the same time at .3 but at way lower speeds, this thing is cooking now..lol
Jul 25, 2015 4:58 PM - Mike Glass: Hey JB, BILLY
    Jul 25, 2015 4:58 PM - jbigler1986: Hello
Jul 25, 2015 4:59 PM - Mike Glass: cant wait to go to bowden and do insane speed.
Jul 25, 2015 4:59 PM - Mike Glass: 90 is freaking high for non-bowden, but parts are looking real nice
Jul 25, 2015 4:59 PM - Mike Kelly: don't forget the limiting factor is the rate you can feed filament
Jul 25, 2015 4:59 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah. Highest i got was 130. Had a few issues and fixed them. But then you know the rest
Jul 25, 2015 5:02 PM - jbigler1986: And hello MK. Not sure if i saw you earlier
Jul 25, 2015 5:03 PM - Mike Glass: hey you seen how fast that wheel can spin on my machine..lol
    Jul 25, 2015 5:03 PM - Bill Monroe: [IMG]
Jul 25, 2015 5:04 PM - Mike Glass: nice print, what did you make them out of?
Jul 25, 2015 5:04 PM - Bill Monroe: found that coin under the back seat of my 1963 VW squareback next to the battery in a pile of pax muck..
    Jul 25, 2015 5:04 PM - Bill Monroe: in 1971
Jul 25, 2015 5:04 PM - jbigler1986: Try changing multiplier to 100 and see how fast it can spin
Jul 25, 2015 5:04 PM - Bill Monroe: thought it looked cool and kept it
Jul 25, 2015 5:05 PM - Bill Monroe: today, I find out it's an 8 Reale SIlver coin from Spanish Colonial Mexico
    Jul 25, 2015 5:05 PM - jbigler1986: I meant to change it to 1 instead of 100. Rookie mistake
    Jul 25, 2015 5:05 PM - Bill Monroe: called a "Double Pillar"
    Jul 25, 2015 5:06 PM - jbigler1986: So worth 1 million
Jul 25, 2015 5:06 PM - Bill Monroe: heh if it was, I wouldnt be here sharing my fortune
Jul 25, 2015 5:06 PM - Mike Glass: come on its from mexico
    Jul 25, 2015 5:06 PM - Bill Monroe: $260 in this condition
    Jul 25, 2015 5:06 PM - jbigler1986: Hey. That can buy 1 and a half tikos
    Jul 25, 2015 5:07 PM - Mike Glass: lol
Jul 25, 2015 5:07 PM - Bill Monroe: ok, i'll buy one, you can have the half :)
Jul 25, 2015 5:07 PM - jbigler1986: Well might as well only come as half. Thats as good as its going to work
Jul 25, 2015 5:08 PM - Bill Monroe: my son started his circuit board router/driller today
Jul 25, 2015 5:08 PM - Mike Glass: thanks for the jerk don
    Jul 25, 2015 5:08 PM - jbigler1986: Um. You 2 are getting to close
    Jul 25, 2015 5:09 PM - donhuevo: welcome
    Jul 25, 2015 5:09 PM - Bill Monroe:
Jul 25, 2015 5:09 PM - Mike Glass: he shares his undercarriage with me.
    Jul 25, 2015 5:09 PM - jbigler1986: Hey i dont judge though
    Jul 25, 2015 5:09 PM - Bill Monroe: .... a 3D bromance...
    Jul 25, 2015 5:09 PM - Mike Glass: I mean carriage
Jul 25, 2015 5:10 PM - Mike Glass: I guess benchy is in order to print now and see what happens at high speed.
Jul 25, 2015 5:11 PM - Bill Monroe: I see Robo drag races on the horizon
Jul 25, 2015 5:12 PM - donhuevo: I've been sharing my dict with everyone. Not playing any favorites
Jul 25, 2015 5:15 PM - Mike Glass: i see now why the old threaded rods are crap, the nut is so loose on them it almost falls off.
Jul 25, 2015 5:17 PM - Mike Glass: my friend that bought the Kossel is getting the run around from the company, so might get him a robo instead, if I can get a refurb for around $500
Jul 25, 2015 5:19 PM - donhuevo: what sort of run around?
Jul 25, 2015 5:22 PM - Mike Glass: keep on changing the delivery date, then called him and try to switch him to the cartesian style.
    Jul 25, 2015 5:22 PM - donhuevo: not cool
Jul 25, 2015 5:23 PM - Mike Glass: 4 weeks turned to 6 weeks. kinda shitty
Jul 25, 2015 5:23 PM - donhuevo: that's funny... the website doesn't show it as out of stock

Jul 25, 2015 7:26 PM - Mike Glass: you texured your walls? lol
Jul 25, 2015 7:27 PM - Mike Glass: should print a light switch to match it now.
    Jul 25, 2015 7:27 PM - Mike Kelly: it's terrible right?
    Jul 25, 2015 7:27 PM - Mike Kelly: no i didn't
Jul 25, 2015 7:27 PM - Mike Kelly: they put like the THICKEST coat of paint possible
Jul 25, 2015 7:27 PM - Mike Glass: No I was referring to printing the textured walls
    Jul 25, 2015 7:27 PM - Mike Kelly: oh
Jul 25, 2015 7:27 PM - Mike Glass: Our last house was 100x worst then that
Jul 25, 2015 7:28 PM - Mike Kelly: stripping paint sucks
Jul 25, 2015 7:28 PM - Mike Glass: I was thinking of printing some outlet covers to show what jacks are on the ups.
Jul 25, 2015 7:29 PM - Mike Glass: The ups that failed last night..ugg we had no power for 6 hours

    Jul 26, 2015 at 7:50 AM - donhuevo: either/or
Jul 26, 2015 at 7:54 AM - Mike Glass: seems the bottom of the hairspray can is peeling like white glue, nothing seems to sick to it very well.
Jul 26, 2015 at 7:55 AM - donhuevo: have you been forgetting to shake?
    Jul 26, 2015 at 7:58 AM - jbigler1986: Rookie mistake

Jul 26, 2015 at 8:07 AM - Mike Glass: what do you use for your bowden, do you run a geared stepper?
Jul 26, 2015 at 8:07 AM - donhuevo: I have this idea in the back of my head involving self-centering cones that are easily adjustable laterally to accomodate any spool but I haven't been able to visualize it entirely yet
    Jul 26, 2015 at 8:07 AM - donhuevo: yep. a pretty beefy 5:1 17
Jul 26, 2015 at 8:07 AM - Mike Glass: haha here ya go don http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:933303

Jul 26, 2015 at 8:19 AM - donhuevo: in your internet travels, have you ever run across a girl drummer named Meytal?
Jul 26, 2015 at 8:20 AM - Mike Glass: no
Jul 26, 2015 at 8:20 AM - donhuevo: her debut album just came out. liking it. felt I had to share that
    Jul 26, 2015 at 8:22 AM - donhuevo:
Jul 26, 2015 at 8:24 AM - donhuevo: that's really old and as far as I know, neither violinist is on the album
Jul 26, 2015 at 8:25 AM - Mike Glass: Yea I know why you like her
    Jul 26, 2015 at 8:27 AM - donhuevo: cause she's a good drummer? or because she's Jewish
    Jul 26, 2015 at 8:27 AM - jbigler1986: She has abs?
Jul 26, 2015 at 8:28 AM - jbigler1986: MG what bowden ideas are you having
Jul 26, 2015 at 8:28 AM - donhuevo: somewhere, way deep down, even the hooter's girl has abs
    Jul 26, 2015 at 8:28 AM - jbigler1986: Well. You know what i mean
Jul 26, 2015 at 8:29 AM - donhuevo: at first I thought you meant ABfnS
Jul 26, 2015 at 8:30 AM - Mike Glass: im not sure yet jb, I liked what you had setup
Jul 26, 2015 at 8:33 AM - jbigler1986: Yeah it was a good setup. Hopefully i get it back soon
Jul 26, 2015 at 8:35 AM - donhuevo: I think I just figured out how to press out a linear bearing with a c clamp
Jul 26, 2015 at 8:36 AM - donhuevo: need to dig out my deep well sockets
Jul 26, 2015 at 8:37 AM - Mike Kelly: Howdy

Jul 26, 2015 at 8:43 AM - Mike Glass: looks huge
Jul 26, 2015 at 8:44 AM - Mike Glass: how would I put a edge on a circle that looks like a coin?
Jul 26, 2015 at 8:45 AM - donhuevo: both sides?
Jul 26, 2015 at 8:47 AM - Mike Glass: on the edge
Jul 26, 2015 at 8:47 AM - donhuevo: that little 'lip' is on both sides
Jul 26, 2015 at 8:49 AM - Mike Glass: yea, I just need it on the outside diameter
    Jul 26, 2015 at 8:51 AM - donhuevo: [IMG]
Jul 26, 2015 at 8:51 AM - Mike Kelly: Or do you mean how it's rough?
    Jul 26, 2015 at 8:52 AM - donhuevo: [IMG]
Jul 26, 2015 at 8:52 AM - Mike Glass: yea the actual texture of the outside of a coin like a quater
Jul 26, 2015 at 8:53 AM - Mike Kelly: You could try just modeling it and see how it prints
Jul 26, 2015 at 8:53 AM - Mike Kelly: Using a circular pattern
    Jul 26, 2015 at 8:54 AM - Aaron Mitchell: o/
Jul 26, 2015 at 8:55 AM - Aaron Mitchell: Morning all..

Jul 26, 2015 at 8:56 AM - Aaron Mitchell: How goes it?
Jul 26, 2015 at 9:00 AM - donhuevo: mg is that what you were looking for or more for the edge of a dime or quarter?
    Jul 26, 2015 at 9:01 AM - Mike Glass: actually a 50c piece
Jul 26, 2015 at 9:01 AM - donhuevo: is the outside smooth on that?
Jul 26, 2015 at 9:01 AM - Aaron Mitchell: MG...If you are trying to create the ridges on the outer edge of a coin...go to top view and draw a triangle on the edge...cut...then do circular pattern...
Jul 26, 2015 at 9:02 AM - Mike Glass: thats what I did but its not generating
Jul 26, 2015 at 9:03 AM - Aaron Mitchell: You chose your axis of rotation?

Jul 26, 2015 at 9:04 AM - Aaron Mitchell: eeesh...
Jul 26, 2015 at 9:05 AM - donhuevo: hasn't slowed me down yet
Jul 26, 2015 at 9:05 AM - Aaron Mitchell: That's what most people say until they use a parametric modeling package :)
Jul 26, 2015 at 9:05 AM - Aaron Mitchell: That looks good though
Jul 26, 2015 at 9:06 AM - Mike Glass: doh , didnt click on the axis patern box first, got it now.
Jul 26, 2015 at 9:06 AM - Mike Glass: thanks
Jul 26, 2015 at 9:06 AM - Aaron Mitchell: np..
Jul 26, 2015 at 9:06 AM - Mike Glass: now how many of those are on a 50 c piece. see if wiki knows
    Jul 26, 2015 at 9:07 AM - Mike Glass: 150
Jul 26, 2015 at 9:07 AM - Aaron Mitchell: 360/150=angle for the triangle...
Jul 26, 2015 at 9:07 AM - donhuevo: trying to get free snicker's from the vending machine?
Jul 26, 2015 at 9:07 AM - Mike Glass: yea have some copper im going to extrude.
Jul 26, 2015 at 9:08 AM - Aaron Mitchell: Then use even spacing at 360°
Jul 26, 2015 at 9:08 AM - donhuevo: for anyone in the Secret Service... look away

    Jul 26, 2015 at 9:15 AM - donhuevo: haha
Jul 26, 2015 at 9:15 AM - Aaron Mitchell: heh
Jul 26, 2015 at 9:55 AM - donhuevo: tire balancing machines
Jul 26, 2015 at 9:58 AM - donhuevo: quick-centering, aggressive threads. like this... [IMG]
Jul 26, 2015 at 9:58 AM - donhuevo: sort of anyway

Jul 26, 2015 at 10:02 AM - donhuevo: thinking about a quick-mount any spool size deal
Jul 26, 2015 at 10:03 AM - Mike Glass: gotcha
Jul 26, 2015 at 10:03 AM - Mike Glass: some kind of conical shape should work
Jul 26, 2015 at 10:07 AM - donhuevo: cones on both sides and depending on the width variance, maybe have one half of the shaft thread into the other
Jul 26, 2015 at 10:08 AM - donhuevo: just spitballin'
Jul 26, 2015 at 10:41 AM - Mike Kelly: holy shit thingiverse finally added in messaging
    Jul 26, 2015 at 10:42 AM - donhuevo: yay?
Jul 26, 2015 at 10:42 AM - Mike Kelly: mostly i'm just surprised it took them this long
Jul 26, 2015 at 10:45 AM - Mike Kelly: i need like an ESD mat at my desk, keep shocking something and kicking my mouse off
Jul 26, 2015 at 10:46 AM - donhuevo: maybe one of those fancy grounded bracelets
Jul 26, 2015 at 10:48 AM - donhuevo: so I overdid it yesterday with the printer bending over it at odd angles. Waiting for the oxy to kick in now
    Jul 26, 2015 at 10:51 AM - Mike Kelly: oh man :(
Jul 26, 2015 at 10:51 AM - Mike Kelly: hope you feel better
Jul 26, 2015 at 10:52 AM - Mike Kelly: man solidworks 15 is really a huge step up from 13
    Jul 26, 2015 at 10:52 AM - donhuevo: gracias.
Jul 26, 2015 at 10:54 AM - Mike Kelly: i should probably go tinker on the robostein but :effort:
Jul 26, 2015 at 10:57 AM - donhuevo: I'm still tinkering. haven't gotten it back together yet
Jul 26, 2015 at 10:57 AM - donhuevo: somehow my x smooth rods grew a mm or so
Jul 26, 2015 at 10:58 AM - Mike Kelly: at this point i'm kinda thinking i'll just wait till i get my new z rods
Jul 26, 2015 at 10:58 AM - Mike Kelly: then do a huge teardown
Jul 26, 2015 at 12:04 PM - donhuevo: I really want to start using Igus flanged bushings instead of lm8uu's
Jul 26, 2015 at 12:06 PM - Mike Kelly: those would be super quiet
Jul 26, 2015 at 12:06 PM - donhuevo: my only issue with them is they aren't dimensionally correct for the shaft until pressfit into place
Jul 26, 2015 at 12:07 PM - donhuevo: I'm thinking an adjustable hole would solve it
Jul 26, 2015 at 12:07 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah
Jul 26, 2015 at 12:07 PM - donhuevo: things could be designed a lot smaller too
Jul 26, 2015 at 12:10 PM - Mike Kelly: i've considered shrinking the width to 45 and use a single LM8LUU
    Jul 26, 2015 at 12:13 PM - donhuevo: they're only 24mm long, right?
    Jul 26, 2015 at 12:16 PM - donhuevo: http://www.igus-cad.com/Default.aspx?cul=en-US&ArtNr=JFM-0810-10&mandant=USA
    Jul 26, 2015 at 12:20 PM - Mike Kelly: i also have some LM8SUU
Jul 26, 2015 at 12:20 PM - Mike Kelly: which are tiny
    Jul 26, 2015 at 12:21 PM - donhuevo: 7mm shorter
Jul 26, 2015 at 12:23 PM - daniel871: Well, after I'm done with the pool, I'll be assembling the dual v6s on the v2 carriage and maybe mounting the hercustruders if I get that far.
    Jul 26, 2015 at 12:24 PM - donhuevo: sounds like a plan
Jul 26, 2015 at 12:24 PM - donhuevo: which carriage are you going with?
Jul 26, 2015 at 12:24 PM - Mike Kelly: how are you gonna mount em
    Jul 26, 2015 at 12:25 PM - daniel871: Mks v2.
    Jul 26, 2015 at 12:26 PM - daniel871: With the removable platform.
Jul 26, 2015 at 12:26 PM - Mike Kelly: [IMG]

Jul 26, 2015 at 12:28 PM - daniel871: Forgot how much of a pain the regular v6 thermistors are.
Jul 26, 2015 at 12:28 PM - donhuevo: I like that. If only I could bring myself to put the top back on
Jul 26, 2015 at 12:28 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah some days i wanna take it off and build a new support structure
Jul 26, 2015 at 12:28 PM - Mike Kelly: maybe i should and put the enclosure on the other printer
Jul 26, 2015 at 12:28 PM - daniel871: Leads keep creeping out from under the washer.
Jul 26, 2015 at 12:29 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah those semitecs are so tiny
Jul 26, 2015 at 12:31 PM - Mike Kelly: may not want to sell my stepper drivers afterall.
Jul 26, 2015 at 12:31 PM - Mike Kelly: the new 8mm ones are a hair longer than the 6mm
Jul 26, 2015 at 12:32 PM - Mike Kelly: so i'd need the 6mm for the hybrid to maximize volume
Jul 26, 2015 at 12:32 PM - Mike Kelly: unless i go to a different enclosure
Jul 26, 2015 at 12:41 PM - donhuevo: I think you just confused me. could be the drugs. I'm just not sure
    Jul 26, 2015 at 12:42 PM - donhuevo: 6mm stepper drivers?
Jul 26, 2015 at 1:01 PM - Mike Glass: his new geared steppers I believe.
Jul 26, 2015 at 1:03 PM - donhuevo: don't think I knew he got new steppers
Jul 26, 2015 at 1:05 PM - Mike Glass: yep, remember I was talking about buying his old ones
Jul 26, 2015 at 1:08 PM - donhuevo: I do remember that. don't remember him mentioning new ones though or why he'd need to change
Jul 26, 2015 at 1:10 PM - Mike Glass: Think he got new ones from robotdigg
Jul 26, 2015 at 1:12 PM - Mike Glass: damn, I cannot get anything to stick to the bed on infill, a circle has no issues, but the infill just lifts up.
Jul 26, 2015 at 1:15 PM - donhuevo: starting too high off the bed?
Jul 26, 2015 at 1:16 PM - Mike Glass: no I lowered it then it would extrude, so its looks great on the circle
Jul 26, 2015 at 1:16 PM - donhuevo: still running the infill faster?
Jul 26, 2015 at 1:17 PM - Mike Glass: nope
    Jul 26, 2015 at 1:17 PM - donhuevo: now I'm shrugging
Jul 26, 2015 at 1:17 PM - Mike Glass: lowered the temp, maybe to hot for some reason
Jul 26, 2015 at 1:18 PM - donhuevo: still shrugging
Jul 26, 2015 at 1:18 PM - Mike Glass: fail
Jul 26, 2015 at 1:19 PM - Mike Glass: like the hairpray is effed up
Jul 26, 2015 at 1:19 PM - Mike Glass: gonna try tape.
Jul 26, 2015 at 1:19 PM - donhuevo: hairspray works on curls but not straight hair?
Jul 26, 2015 at 1:21 PM - Mike Glass: I cleaned the bed put new hairspray down, just seems differnt, using a new can now
Jul 26, 2015 at 1:22 PM - donhuevo: same brand as before?
Jul 26, 2015 at 1:22 PM - Mike Glass: yep exact
Jul 26, 2015 at 1:23 PM - Mike Glass: I ran the file through netfab also
Jul 26, 2015 at 1:23 PM - donhuevo: if you're getting good smoosh, it makes no sense
Jul 26, 2015 at 1:23 PM - donhuevo: try a cube or something
Jul 26, 2015 at 1:24 PM - donhuevo: before you bust out the tape
Jul 26, 2015 at 1:25 PM - Mike Glass: to late..lol, its seems to be working now, will know soon
Jul 26, 2015 at 1:26 PM - Mike Glass: the ridges on this coin makes the print play music
Jul 26, 2015 at 1:26 PM - donhuevo: the coin
Jul 26, 2015 at 1:27 PM - donhuevo: is the rim of it taller on both sides?
Jul 26, 2015 at 1:28 PM - Mike Glass: nope just one side
Jul 26, 2015 at 1:28 PM - Mike Glass: totally flat on one side
Jul 26, 2015 at 1:29 PM - Mike Glass: looking good so far
Jul 26, 2015 at 1:30 PM - Mike Glass: im printing at 30mm/s the first layer is 30% of that, so its god awefull slow
Jul 26, 2015 at 1:32 PM - Mike Glass: Im using the 2" green frog tape.
    Jul 26, 2015 at 1:35 PM - donhuevo: don't think I've ever seen a printer go 10
Jul 26, 2015 at 1:37 PM - Mike Glass: been 15 min..lol for a 2" circle. and still not done
Jul 26, 2015 at 1:38 PM - donhuevo: you let me know at what point during the print I can call you an idiot
Jul 26, 2015 at 1:39 PM - Mike Glass: how about when I hit the start button..lol
    Jul 26, 2015 at 1:39 PM - donhuevo: haha
    Jul 26, 2015 at 1:39 PM - jbigler1986: what up
Jul 26, 2015 at 1:39 PM - Mike Glass: stupid default in s3d
Jul 26, 2015 at 1:44 PM - Mike Glass: hey jb, didnt see you sneak in
    Jul 26, 2015 at 1:44 PM - jbigler1986: thats how i roll

Jul 26, 2015 at 1:47 PM - jbigler1986: working from home since i had to leave early a bunch last week
Jul 26, 2015 at 1:47 PM - Mike Glass: I have the next 4 days off woot

Jul 26, 2015 at 3:07 PM - donhuevo: kinda yeah
Jul 26, 2015 at 3:08 PM - Mike Glass: think it should be 15%?
    Jul 26, 2015 at 3:08 PM - donhuevo: I think Cura's default was 15%. I'm doing 5 and liking it
Jul 26, 2015 at 3:09 PM - Mike Glass: hmm wonder how the h that got changed, all my other ones are 15..doh

    Jul 26, 2015 at 3:14 PM - Mike Glass: 50%
Jul 26, 2015 at 3:14 PM - Mike Kelly: I bought some new stepper so they're 8mm shaft to better match my bondtech vs the 6mm with adapter I was ysing
Jul 26, 2015 at 3:14 PM - Mike Kelly: I think it's possible to swap the planetary assembly
Jul 26, 2015 at 3:15 PM - donhuevo: and here I thought we had the same geared steppers. mine came with an 8mm shaft
Jul 26, 2015 at 3:15 PM - Mike Kelly: Yeah I bought 6mm to make it easier to drill out
Jul 26, 2015 at 3:16 PM - Mike Kelly: Didn't you get the high torque model?
    Jul 26, 2015 at 3:16 PM - donhuevo: I did.
    Jul 26, 2015 at 3:17 PM - donhuevo: http://www.omc-stepperonline.com/ge...rque-nema-17-stepper-17hs191684spg5-p-40.html
Jul 26, 2015 at 3:19 PM - donhuevo: sorry mg, missed that. yes, fiddy
Jul 26, 2015 at 3:21 PM - Mike Glass: oh you are doing squinty at 50% for a shot glass. gotcha
Jul 26, 2015 at 3:22 PM - donhuevo: wanted to print something to make sure my fan choices were gonna work
Jul 26, 2015 at 3:23 PM - Mike Glass: im outta beer, tg the store is only a mile away..lol
Jul 26, 2015 at 3:25 PM - jbigler1986: well in indiana i couldnt buy it today if i wanted to
Jul 26, 2015 at 3:25 PM - donhuevo: forces alcoholics to be more forward thinking
Jul 26, 2015 at 3:35 PM - Mike Glass: what no beer in Indiana?
    Jul 26, 2015 at 3:38 PM - jbigler1986: not on sunday
Jul 26, 2015 at 3:38 PM - jbigler1986: unless you go to somewhere that serves food you can order it. i think there are a few restaurants that you can get carry out
Jul 26, 2015 at 3:39 PM - Mike Glass: that would suck
Jul 26, 2015 at 3:39 PM - Mike Glass: are bars open?
    Jul 26, 2015 at 3:40 PM - Mike Kelly: that's horrible
Jul 26, 2015 at 3:41 PM - jbigler1986: not sure on which ones can and can't be open
Jul 26, 2015 at 3:42 PM - donhuevo: did I ever mention my 'Build-a-Beer' idea?
Jul 26, 2015 at 3:42 PM - Mike Glass: Do the Robo Refurbs come with a warranty?
    Jul 26, 2015 at 3:43 PM - jbigler1986: probably.
Jul 26, 2015 at 3:43 PM - Mike Glass: build a beer what?
Jul 26, 2015 at 3:44 PM - donhuevo: a decent-sized place maybe the same square footage as a grocery store. lots of shelving. all the ingredients, carboys etc. Staff can help customers as much or as little as they like to make beer
Jul 26, 2015 at 3:45 PM - Mike Glass: ist that called walmart?
    Jul 26, 2015 at 3:45 PM - jbigler1986: lol
Jul 26, 2015 at 3:46 PM - Mike Glass: ok well not walmart, Ace hardware, holy cow they have the stuff there.
    Jul 26, 2015 at 3:47 PM - jbigler1986: ace is awesome
Jul 26, 2015 at 3:48 PM - donhuevo: not beer making supplies and send you on your way. the store owns all the containers. make your wort and the store would shelve it. Come back when it's time for the next step
Jul 26, 2015 at 3:48 PM - Mike Kelly: i know of at least one place like that
Jul 26, 2015 at 3:48 PM - Mike Kelly: you can't pitch the yeast there but you make the wort
Jul 26, 2015 at 3:49 PM - donhuevo: but with a cool name like build-a-beer?
Jul 26, 2015 at 3:49 PM - Mike Kelly: nope
Jul 26, 2015 at 3:49 PM - Mike Kelly: kellys brewery actually
Jul 26, 2015 at 3:50 PM - donhuevo: a dumbass could walk in having never made beer before and say something like I want to make a nice smooth, not to hoppy, brown ale
Jul 26, 2015 at 3:52 PM - jbigler1986: so the store would need a lot of brewmasters working there
    Jul 26, 2015 at 3:52 PM - donhuevo: at least a couple
Jul 26, 2015 at 3:53 PM - donhuevo: it was the beginnings of a bonfire about 5 years ago. I was starting the fire and looking for some cardboard I found an empty budweiser case and a build-a-bear box.
Jul 26, 2015 at 3:54 PM - jbigler1986: well i just trademarked the name. sorry don
Jul 26, 2015 at 3:54 PM - donhuevo: well cool
Jul 26, 2015 at 3:56 PM - Mike Kelly: Lol
Jul 26, 2015 at 4:55 PM - Mike Glass: Don?

    Jul 27, 2015 8:59 AM - jbigler1986: sorry for caps
    Jul 27, 2015 8:59 AM - Mike Kelly: yup
    Jul 27, 2015 8:59 AM - donhuevo: I'm not
    Jul 27, 2015 8:59 AM - Mike Kelly: gonna print a few
Jul 27, 2015 9:00 AM - jbigler1986: it's looking like i'm not getting the robo anytime soon. so need to order one from amazon
Jul 27, 2015 9:00 AM - Mike Kelly: wait until the new ones are here
Jul 27, 2015 9:00 AM - Mike Kelly: then you don't need to do the z axis mod
Jul 27, 2015 9:00 AM - Mike Kelly: if you can survive another 2 weeks
Jul 27, 2015 9:00 AM - donhuevo: you can go right to the dual bowden mod
    Jul 27, 2015 9:01 AM - JeffTheMess: (2 weeks= brutal)
    Jul 27, 2015 9:01 AM - jbigler1986: ^
Jul 27, 2015 9:01 AM - jbigler1986: already been a week without. brutal it is
Jul 27, 2015 9:02 AM - bamhm182: MG, you around or just online?
    Jul 27, 2015 9:02 AM - JeffTheMess: Next mod= gps
Jul 27, 2015 9:02 AM - donhuevo: so if your robo runs away, you can track it down?
    Jul 27, 2015 9:02 AM - jbigler1986: haha. yes
    Jul 27, 2015 9:02 AM - donhuevo: ah
    Jul 27, 2015 9:03 AM - donhuevo: I'm slow today
    Jul 27, 2015 9:03 AM - JeffTheMess: ;)
    Jul 27, 2015 9:03 AM - bamhm182: Haha, jb needs that
    Jul 27, 2015 9:03 AM - Mike Kelly: lol
Jul 27, 2015 9:03 AM - Mike Kelly: lojack the printer
    Jul 27, 2015 9:03 AM - bamhm182: Perfect
Jul 27, 2015 9:04 AM - Mike Glass: im here bam
Jul 27, 2015 9:05 AM - bamhm182: What all did you end up doing with that PSU fan upgrade, and do you have any suggestions?
    Jul 27, 2015 9:05 AM - bamhm182: I just got my 60mmx25mm noctua in
Jul 27, 2015 9:05 AM - Mike Glass: I just flipped the PSU and cut out the grill where the fan goes, pretty simple
Jul 27, 2015 9:05 AM - bamhm182: Was thinking about cutting a hole through the bottom of the case and mounting it on the outside of the PSU. Didn't know if you cut the metal grill
Jul 27, 2015 9:06 AM - Mike Glass: used the rubber mounts so it doesnt sit against the case and super quiet.
Jul 27, 2015 9:06 AM - bamhm182: By grill do you mean the metal on the PSU or the plastic on the bottom cover?
Jul 27, 2015 9:06 AM - jbigler1986: ah man, the hictop isn't available on prime right now
Jul 27, 2015 9:06 AM - Mike Glass: I didnt put my cover on the bottom
Jul 27, 2015 9:07 AM - Mike Glass: but yeah I did cut the circle out where the fan goes on the metal case.
Jul 27, 2015 9:07 AM - Mike Glass: just used aviation snips took like 30 seconds and it was done
    Jul 27, 2015 9:09 AM - Mike Glass: http://vaughnlive.tv/coolreactions cam up finally
Jul 27, 2015 9:10 AM - bamhm182: Sweet, might give that a go real quick. I think I'm just going to snap off some of the bars on the bottom cover so I can have that on
Jul 27, 2015 9:11 AM - jbigler1986: if the printrbot play was a little bigger i would get it
Jul 27, 2015 9:11 AM - jbigler1986: that's what i did bam. to run my extruder wire to the outside of the case
Jul 27, 2015 9:12 AM - Mike Glass: Yeah I will cut it out later, once I get all the other upgrades done.
    Jul 27, 2015 9:12 AM - jbigler1986: das boot
Jul 27, 2015 9:13 AM - Mike Glass: did you see my lead screw covers?
Jul 27, 2015 9:13 AM - toy: i wired in my actuator and ran it back and forth some, is their a way i can override the jog speed using a mcode?
Jul 27, 2015 9:13 AM - Mike Glass: what software toy?
Jul 27, 2015 9:14 AM - Mike Glass: I know you can do it on s3d on the jog control panel
Jul 27, 2015 9:14 AM - Mike Kelly: well there's hard limits in the firmware
    Jul 27, 2015 9:14 AM - Mike Kelly: but I use F commands like G1 Y100 F9001
    Jul 27, 2015 9:14 AM - Mike Kelly: jb get a rigidbot
    Jul 27, 2015 9:15 AM - jbigler1986: how much do they run
    Jul 27, 2015 9:15 AM - Mike Kelly: i think there's a kit for 600
    Jul 27, 2015 9:15 AM - toy: repetier host
    Jul 27, 2015 9:16 AM - Mike Kelly: granted they're sold out
Jul 27, 2015 9:16 AM - toy: whats the default jog speed in repetier ?
    Jul 27, 2015 9:17 AM - jbigler1986: damnit
Jul 27, 2015 9:17 AM - Mike Kelly: 4800mm/min but you can change them in printer settings toy
Jul 27, 2015 9:17 AM - donhuevo: that comes out of the firmware
Jul 27, 2015 9:18 AM - toy: thx... i was going line by line in the config.h
    Jul 27, 2015 9:18 AM - JeffTheMess: how about renting a printer
    Jul 27, 2015 9:19 AM - JeffTheMess: http://www.printme3d.com/studio/rental.html
    Jul 27, 2015 9:19 AM - jbigler1986: never. i want a 2nd printer anyways
    Jul 27, 2015 9:20 AM - Mike Kelly: ultimaker
    Jul 27, 2015 9:20 AM - JeffTheMess: ^
    Jul 27, 2015 9:21 AM - Mike Glass: ^^^^
Jul 27, 2015 9:21 AM - Mike Kelly: or just buy the assembled rigidbot then make the tank extruder
    Jul 27, 2015 9:25 AM - JeffTheMess: get a tiko
Jul 27, 2015 9:26 AM - donhuevo: I hear folgertech is trying to move their cartesians
Jul 27, 2015 9:28 AM - Mike Glass: yea you can get one now for $225, thats at least what they try to get my friend to switch over to when he bought the kossel and they cant deliver anytime soon.

Jul 27, 2015 9:29 AM - Harry: Everyone who got lead screws that were bent: I just talked to the team and we will be contacting our manufacture today and figuring out getting replacements in to replace those lead screws that are bent. Once again sorry about this and as soon as I have more info I'll let you guys know.
    Jul 27, 2015 9:29 AM - jbigler1986: hey harry. i need a favor. website related
Jul 27, 2015 9:30 AM - Mike Glass: thanks harry, got the message back from you guys on that, hopefully they can get the replacements out soon.
Jul 27, 2015 9:30 AM - Mike Kelly: be sure to post that in the thread as well harry
    Jul 27, 2015 9:30 AM - jbigler1986: http://folgertech.com/products/folger-tech-reprap-2020-prusa-i3-full-aluminum-3d-printer-kit
    Jul 27, 2015 9:31 AM - Mike Kelly: that's cheap
Jul 27, 2015 9:31 AM - donhuevo: I like that a whole lot better than having a frame made of all-thread
    Jul 27, 2015 9:32 AM - Mike Kelly: 2020 is great stuff
    Jul 27, 2015 9:32 AM - jbigler1986: may have to do that
Jul 27, 2015 9:32 AM - Mike Kelly: would be fun to tinker with
    Jul 27, 2015 9:32 AM - jbigler1986: and easy
    Jul 27, 2015 9:33 AM - jbigler1986: harry i sent you a pm
Jul 27, 2015 9:35 AM - Mike Glass: you can get $50 off that price also JB
    Jul 27, 2015 9:35 AM - jbigler1986: how so
Jul 27, 2015 9:35 AM - Mike Glass: tell them you want the kossel and they will knock off $50 on that model
    Jul 27, 2015 9:36 AM - jbigler1986: hmmm. good idea
Jul 27, 2015 9:36 AM - jbigler1986: since i need to buy a glass plate for that too
    Jul 27, 2015 9:41 AM - Harry: I will post it
Jul 27, 2015 9:41 AM - Harry: sorry wasn't following the shoutbox for a second
    Jul 27, 2015 9:45 AM - toy: 9000mm/min and acuator is still kick'n butt
    Jul 27, 2015 9:47 AM - jbigler1986: i replied harry
Jul 27, 2015 9:48 AM - Stephen Capistron: There is usually a maximum allowed in the firmware so even if you command 1000000000mm/min it will only go whatever the maximum allowed is
    Jul 27, 2015 9:48 AM - Mike Kelly: ^
Jul 27, 2015 9:48 AM - toy: whats the max
    Jul 27, 2015 9:49 AM - jbigler1986: 130000mm/s

Jul 27, 2015 9:49 AM - Stephen Capistron: You would have to look at your firmware
    Jul 27, 2015 9:49 AM - Mike Kelly: #define DEFAULT_MAX_FEEDRATE {500, 500, 5, 25} // (mm/sec) #define DEFAULT_MAX_ACCELERATION {9000,9000,100,10000} // X, Y, Z, E maximum start speed for accelerated moves. E default values are good for Skeinforge 40+, for older versions raise them a lot. #define DEFAULT_ACCELERATION 1300 // X, Y, Z and E max acceleration in mm/s^2 for printing moves /robo #define DEFAULT_RETRACT_ACCELERATION 3000 // X, Y, Z and
Jul 27, 2015 9:49 AM - toy: ineed to go back into the config.h i have it at 12000mm/min right now
    Jul 27, 2015 9:49 AM - Mike Kelly: 500mm/s on x and y, 5 on Z, and 25 on E
    Jul 27, 2015 9:49 AM - jbigler1986: don't listen to me. i'm being an ass
Jul 27, 2015 9:50 AM - toy: so im still under the firmware limits
Jul 27, 2015 9:51 AM - toy: let me see if im losing steps at 200mm/sec
Jul 27, 2015 9:53 AM - toy: the actuator can handle 200mm/sec with no prob
Jul 27, 2015 9:56 AM - toy: ugh something is disrupting my usb connection.. however
    Jul 27, 2015 9:59 AM - jbigler1986: usb stinks
Jul 27, 2015 10:00 AM - toy: even at 15000mm/min it seems to preform great
Jul 27, 2015 10:01 AM - toy: i can even move a car battery with this nema 17 aound
    Jul 27, 2015 10:02 AM - Mike Kelly: for $200 i'd hope so
    Jul 27, 2015 10:03 AM - jbigler1986: no crap
Jul 27, 2015 10:05 AM - toy: thank you very much for contacting Noctua and for your idea! Sorry for the longer wait on this answer, somehow your mail got in our spam filter. I'll talk about this with our developer team at our next meeting. But if we decide to really do so, it will take at lest 2 years until we got a finished Noctua product. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to contact us again!
Jul 27, 2015 10:06 AM - toy: my response from contacting noctua about developing a radial blower lol
    Jul 27, 2015 10:06 AM - jbigler1986: 2 years. holy hell
Jul 27, 2015 10:07 AM - Mike Kelly: 2 years is a very long time for something like that
Jul 27, 2015 10:09 AM - bamhm182: After I drilled the hole for the cable to go through, it occurred to me that I could have popped the pins out and made a MUCH smaller hole, then reconnect them
    Jul 27, 2015 10:09 AM - bamhm182: Oh well, too late now
Jul 27, 2015 10:11 AM - donhuevo: this will make disassembly easier later
    Jul 27, 2015 10:11 AM - bamhm182: True
Jul 27, 2015 10:12 AM - toy: http://imgur.com/g2nMznt i still need to do some more scientific experiments using an indicator to test accuracy, repeatability, etc
    Jul 27, 2015 10:12 AM - bamhm182: Apparently my phone won't upload pictures when it's at 25%. I'll post them in a minute
Jul 27, 2015 10:13 AM - Stephen Capistron: For the level of products that noctua puts out I can see it taking close to 2 years
Jul 27, 2015 10:14 AM - Stephen Capistron: Several months of administrative BS to get the project going. Several more in design, development and testing
Jul 27, 2015 10:16 AM - Stephen Capistron: Just getting molds made can take another 4 months. Then qualify the parts coming off them and yeah I could see 1.5 years as an internal target and 2 if you allow for schedule creep
Jul 27, 2015 10:16 AM - bamhm182: They are super high quality, but still, 2 years does seem like an incredibly long time. Maybe it's because they don't currently have any radial blowers so they'd have to figure out how to do them
    Jul 27, 2015 10:17 AM - bamhm182: Yeah, I guess that makes sense
Jul 27, 2015 10:17 AM - Stephen Capistron: Could they get "close enough" in half the time, you bet
    Jul 27, 2015 10:18 AM - bamhm182: [IMG]
    Jul 27, 2015 10:19 AM - bamhm182: [IMG]
Jul 27, 2015 10:19 AM - bamhm182: My dremel skills need improving, but it didn't turn out too bad
Jul 27, 2015 10:19 AM - toy: i talked him down to 150$ btw.. and he has 3 more left.... hmmmm
Jul 27, 2015 10:20 AM - donhuevo: you dremelled it into oblivion. there's nothing left
    Jul 27, 2015 10:20 AM - bamhm182: Yeah, I basically had to
Jul 27, 2015 10:20 AM - donhuevo: or am I the only one seeing broken picture links
    Jul 27, 2015 10:21 AM - bamhm182: Oh, hold on
Jul 27, 2015 10:21 AM - toy: and 20mm pitch might be to fast... 10mm might be way to go
Jul 27, 2015 10:22 AM - Mike Kelly: because they'd do a lot of engineering on noise reduction and flow improvements I could see 2 years for a whole suite of designs
    Jul 27, 2015 10:23 AM - toy: i told them i want to be a tester lol
Jul 27, 2015 10:23 AM - toy: send me free stuff
    Jul 27, 2015 10:23 AM - bamhm182: Are the images fixed?
Jul 27, 2015 10:23 AM - donhuevo: yes they are
Jul 27, 2015 10:23 AM - donhuevo: now the dremelling doesn't look as bad
    Jul 27, 2015 10:24 AM - bamhm182: haha
Jul 27, 2015 10:24 AM - bamhm182: Somehow the fan seems crooked, may take a look at that at lunch or after work
Jul 27, 2015 10:24 AM - bamhm182: Speaking of which, I'm going to be more or less AFK while I get ready
Jul 27, 2015 10:24 AM - Mike Glass: good job, I just ran my wire through one of the grills on the PSU
Jul 27, 2015 10:25 AM - bamhm182: Oh yeah, I guess that'd be one way to do it too
Jul 27, 2015 10:25 AM - Mike Kelly: anyone here good at proofreading?
Jul 27, 2015 10:26 AM - toy: hmm should i get this to replace my x-axis belt? http://www.ebay.com/itm/NSK-Ground-...411?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item33975d16db
Jul 27, 2015 10:26 AM - toy: i bet he would take 40$ for it
Jul 27, 2015 10:26 AM - Mike Kelly: maybe if you were building a mill'
Jul 27, 2015 10:28 AM - bamhm182: Hooked up the old fan to my bench psu, and while it's nowhere near as dead silent as the noctua, it's really not that loud. I definitely see what you were talking about with your theory that a lot of the noise came from the grill, MG
Jul 27, 2015 10:28 AM - daniel871: Ugh, the fan extender isn't going to be delivered until August 12th at the earliest for some reason.
Jul 27, 2015 10:28 AM - daniel871: Did a bunch of people order them at the same time or something?
Jul 27, 2015 10:28 AM - toy: im gonna make an offer for 40$, im addicted to buying linear motion components
Jul 27, 2015 10:28 AM - Mike Kelly: did you not get one with prime?
    Jul 27, 2015 10:29 AM - daniel871: Apparently not.
Jul 27, 2015 10:29 AM - bamhm182: Probably made the same mistake I always make and bought something that was out of stock at the time
    Jul 27, 2015 10:29 AM - Mike Kelly: bummer
    Jul 27, 2015 10:29 AM - jbigler1986: i don't think they had one prime available
    Jul 27, 2015 10:29 AM - daniel871: That too.
Jul 27, 2015 10:29 AM - daniel871: They had free shipping options and that was about it.
Jul 27, 2015 10:29 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah they go in and out of prime a lot
Jul 27, 2015 10:29 AM - Mike Glass: yep the grill made it way loud
    Jul 27, 2015 10:30 AM - daniel871: Not that I have everything together anyway.
Jul 27, 2015 10:31 AM - daniel871: Waiting to see what the response is about the glass bed before I get too far putting everything back together.
    Jul 27, 2015 10:31 AM - daniel871: [IMG]
    Jul 27, 2015 10:32 AM - daniel871: In the top of the "R"
Jul 27, 2015 10:32 AM - Mike Kelly: hmm that's not working for me
Jul 27, 2015 10:32 AM - Mike Glass: me neither

    Jul 27, 2015 10:33 AM - daniel871: Hang on, re-loading it on IMGUR.
Jul 27, 2015 10:33 AM - Mike Glass: error, error
    Jul 27, 2015 10:33 AM - daniel871: Well, I was, IMGUR is stalling out.
    Jul 27, 2015 10:35 AM - daniel871: [IMG]
    Jul 27, 2015 10:36 AM - Mike Kelly: brutal
    Jul 27, 2015 10:36 AM - bamhm182: Haha, dang, daniel!
Jul 27, 2015 10:36 AM - daniel871: This is partway through the leadscrew installation.
    Jul 27, 2015 10:36 AM - bamhm182: What'd you do to it?
Jul 27, 2015 10:36 AM - donhuevo: I ended up putting craters in my 2nd bed
    Jul 27, 2015 10:36 AM - daniel871: It came up with a print?
Jul 27, 2015 10:37 AM - donhuevo: I let the parts cool completely now
Jul 27, 2015 10:37 AM - daniel871: I'd let it print when I left for work, came home to it just sitting there waiting after the program was done, went to pull the print off the bed and it came up with some glass stuck to it.
Jul 27, 2015 10:38 AM - donhuevo: must have had some growing stress fractures in it prior
    Jul 27, 2015 10:38 AM - Mike Kelly: yup
Jul 27, 2015 10:38 AM - donhuevo: wondering if it's similar to the way a stone chip can grow on a windshield
    Jul 27, 2015 10:39 AM - bamhm182: Crazy
Jul 27, 2015 10:39 AM - daniel871: That's what it reminds me of, except there isn't anything smacking into it like a windshield.
Jul 27, 2015 10:39 AM - daniel871: Autolevel and that's about it. The razor blade scraper usually never gets that far.
Jul 27, 2015 10:40 AM - bamhm182: Well, there's your razor blade or chisel, plus the pulling of the plastic
Jul 27, 2015 10:40 AM - daniel871: Except I never get to the middle of the bed like that. Usually the print starts to pop off when I'm about 3/4 of the way around the perimeter of the print.
Jul 27, 2015 10:41 AM - daniel871: Probably why I'm not getting a response from Jerry about it yet. "How the fuck did that happen?"
Jul 27, 2015 10:42 AM - daniel871: Probably end up finding out how well the PrintinZ plate handles PET+/T-glase prints.
    Jul 27, 2015 10:42 AM - daniel871: Instead of just PLA-variants.
Jul 27, 2015 10:42 AM - daniel871: Zebra plate, rather, not the old PrintinZ plate.
Jul 27, 2015 10:42 AM - Mike Kelly: whats different about the zebra anyways
Jul 27, 2015 10:43 AM - daniel871: Extra layers of material best I can tell.

Jul 27, 2015 10:43 AM - daniel871: You can see the original PrintinZ plate layers in the middle with the metal in the center, then a white layer on one side and a black layer on the other.
    Jul 27, 2015 10:43 AM - daniel871: Smoother material.
    Jul 27, 2015 10:43 AM - Mike Kelly: ah
Jul 27, 2015 10:44 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah the plate is kinda rough
Jul 27, 2015 10:44 AM - daniel871: Scraper just runs across it without damaging it like it did the faulty PrintinZ I had before.
    Jul 27, 2015 10:45 AM - daniel871: Feels like a powder-coating process to the touch.
Jul 27, 2015 10:47 AM - daniel871: Will the firmware for the dual extruding setup freak out if the part fans aren't connected to the fan extender yet?
Jul 27, 2015 10:47 AM - daniel871: Like if I want to finish everything but that and print PET parts for a while will it let me?
Jul 27, 2015 10:48 AM - daniel871: Or T-glase (something where the part fan stays off anyway).
Jul 27, 2015 10:50 AM - daniel871: Also would there be any benefit to taking the 64 oz/in stepper that was on the Wade extruder and putting it on the X or Y axis?
Jul 27, 2015 10:51 AM - daniel871: (the one that I got while waiting for the replacement from Robo that only came in last week).
    Jul 27, 2015 10:54 AM - Mike Kelly: nope
    Jul 27, 2015 11:06 AM - daniel871: To which one?
    Jul 27, 2015 11:09 AM - daniel871: [IMG]
Jul 27, 2015 11:11 AM - Mike Kelly: good thing he protected his windshield wiper from damage
    Jul 27, 2015 11:12 AM - daniel871: Yep.
    Jul 27, 2015 11:16 AM - daniel871: OSHA.GIF [IMG]
Jul 27, 2015 11:18 AM - Mike Kelly: gif kinda day eh?
    Jul 27, 2015 11:18 AM - daniel871: Yeah, because f bandwidth limits.
    Jul 27, 2015 11:19 AM - Mike Kelly: sorry 56k
Jul 27, 2015 11:19 AM - Mike Kelly: the hell is that guy even trying to do
Jul 27, 2015 11:19 AM - daniel871: Connect train cars as they hit.
Jul 27, 2015 11:20 AM - Mike Kelly: https://plus.google.com/u/1/+BudHammerton/posts/4CjEDthgryM?cfem=1 think this is aaron?
Jul 27, 2015 11:20 AM - daniel871: On a completely different topic, signs like this amaze me that they got that far without anyone thinking about alternative meanings. [IMG]
Jul 27, 2015 11:21 AM - Mike Kelly: oh that's intentional no doubt
Jul 27, 2015 11:22 AM - daniel871: Kind of like this probably [IMG]
Jul 27, 2015 11:23 AM - Mike Kelly: why is this one revolve feature a 3.1mb file
Jul 27, 2015 11:24 AM - Mike Kelly: makes no sense it does
Jul 27, 2015 11:25 AM - bamhm182: What do you guys think about feet that screw onto the side of the printer instead of holding onto the groove? Kind of thinking about making some feet that you can keep on there all the time and allow you to remove the bottom cover
Jul 27, 2015 11:26 AM - daniel871: Alignment would be tricky unless you use meshmixer to remove the bit that goes inside the cover or soth.
Jul 27, 2015 11:26 AM - bamhm182: In my mind, the robo would still rest on top of the foot rests, but would have a bolt/nut holding on both the two sides the feet touch
Jul 27, 2015 11:26 AM - Mike Kelly: i prefer having them permanently attached but it's not for everyone
Jul 27, 2015 11:27 AM - Mike Kelly: especially with a bottom cover (BTW, I like to dance the cha cha)
Jul 27, 2015 11:27 AM - bamhm182: How do I have the ability to edit other people's posts? You just do.
Jul 27, 2015 11:28 AM - Mike Kelly: are you serious
Jul 27, 2015 11:28 AM - bamhm182: Yeah, look at your last message, haha
Jul 27, 2015 11:28 AM - Mike Kelly: good lord
Jul 27, 2015 11:29 AM - bamhm182: Do you see triangles next to everyone's posts?
Jul 27, 2015 11:29 AM - Mike Kelly: i do but you shouldn't be able to
    Jul 27, 2015 11:29 AM - daniel871: Total anarchy.
Jul 27, 2015 11:29 AM - Mike Kelly: should be gone now yeah?
    Jul 27, 2015 11:29 AM - Harry: it is
    Jul 27, 2015 11:30 AM - daniel871: Hahahah.
    Jul 27, 2015 11:30 AM - daniel871: Aw man.
    Jul 27, 2015 11:30 AM - bamhm182: Hahaha
Jul 27, 2015 11:30 AM - daniel871: You just had to say something, bamhm.
Jul 27, 2015 11:30 AM - bamhm182: Shouldn't have said anything and just went about replacing peoples' text without them noticing. :p
    Jul 27, 2015 11:30 AM - Mike Kelly: lol
Jul 27, 2015 11:31 AM - bamhm182: Anyways, off to work I go, later all

    Jul 27, 2015 11:32 AM - daniel871: Glass was too clean
    Jul 27, 2015 11:32 AM - Mike Kelly: like a bird
    Jul 27, 2015 11:33 AM - daniel871: It's a common thing apparently.

    Jul 27, 2015 11:36 AM - daniel871: For my next trick: [IMG]
Jul 27, 2015 11:43 AM - Mike Kelly: i really want to try that
    Jul 27, 2015 11:46 AM - daniel871: One more and I'm done.
Jul 27, 2015 11:46 AM - daniel871: Parent of the year spotted: [IMG]
    Jul 27, 2015 11:46 AM - daniel871: I'm late for work, you'll have to jump!
Jul 27, 2015 11:47 AM - Mike Kelly: lol both at once
    Jul 27, 2015 11:47 AM - daniel871: Bailing out the back door.
Jul 27, 2015 11:49 AM - Mike Kelly: need to learn the tuck and roll
Jul 27, 2015 11:51 AM - toy: ok, i fired up my air compressor time to see if i can get a screwdriver to float
Jul 27, 2015 11:55 AM - toy: tried 3 diff screwdrivers at 90psi and nothing
Jul 27, 2015 11:57 AM - daniel871: Did any of the screwdrivers have a rounded end on the handle?
Jul 27, 2015 11:58 AM - toy: yes all of them...
    Jul 27, 2015 11:58 AM - toy: trying at 115psi
    Jul 27, 2015 11:58 AM - daniel871: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coanda_effect
Jul 27, 2015 11:58 AM - toy: i looked for a screwriver that would give me the most low pessure
Jul 27, 2015 11:59 AM - toy: oh... i got some spin and levi for about .2 secs lol
Jul 27, 2015 12:00 PM - toy: ok i got it to float for about 3 secs
    Jul 27, 2015 12:00 PM - toy: pretty cool
Jul 27, 2015 12:00 PM - daniel871: Some youtube vids about it talk about doing it at 125 PSI
Jul 27, 2015 12:00 PM - daniel871: Takes a really steady hand on the blower to make it work though.
    Jul 27, 2015 12:01 PM - daniel871:
Jul 27, 2015 12:01 PM - toy: at 140psi but i dont have a focused nozzle... the nozzle is like .25
Jul 27, 2015 12:02 PM - daniel871: Yeah, a focused nozzle seems to be the key.
Jul 27, 2015 12:03 PM - toy: i have to put so thats is barely touching the screwdriver
    Jul 27, 2015 12:10 PM - jbigler1986: back

Jul 27, 2015 1:24 PM - AxisLab: Oh no, someones going to hack in see my 400 pics of shaped plastic and call history to jimmy johns.
Jul 27, 2015 1:36 PM - Simonpackman1: OMG!! My printing bed chipped somehow. I have no clue how this happened. This it mostlikely a result of pulling the prints off of the table. WHAT SHOULD I DO????
Jul 27, 2015 1:37 PM - Mike Kelly: submit a replacement part request or add a surface
    Jul 27, 2015 1:40 PM - Simonpackman1: ok
Jul 27, 2015 1:40 PM - Simonpackman1: think i might order a small piece of glass to glue to the entire surface
Jul 27, 2015 1:40 PM - daniel871: Lots of loose screws on the Robo when I was changing out the leadscrew steppers.
Jul 27, 2015 1:40 PM - Simonpackman1: i dont need a new heating thing so i dont want to spend $90 on it
Jul 27, 2015 1:41 PM - Mike Kelly: when did you get your printer
Jul 27, 2015 1:41 PM - Simonpackman1: ill probably just get 1/8inch glass or maybye try some high temp glue
    Jul 27, 2015 1:41 PM - Simonpackman1: I got it june 6th
    Jul 27, 2015 1:41 PM - daniel871: The z axis screws were already loose.
Jul 27, 2015 1:41 PM - Mike Kelly: then you're covered by the warranty
    Jul 27, 2015 1:41 PM - Mike Kelly: submit a request
    Jul 27, 2015 1:41 PM - Simonpackman1: ok i did
    Jul 27, 2015 1:41 PM - Simonpackman1: yay!
Jul 27, 2015 1:42 PM - Mike Kelly: if you want a second piece of glass: http://www.ultibots.com/borosilicate-print-surface-250mm-x-320mm/
Jul 27, 2015 1:42 PM - Simonpackman1: i only use the metal scrapper that came with the robo 3d and I know metal is to soft to break glass
    Jul 27, 2015 1:43 PM - Simonpackman1: thanks for the link
Jul 27, 2015 1:43 PM - daniel871: The scraper can break it, but we're talking shattered.
    Jul 27, 2015 1:43 PM - Simonpackman1: i just have a chip
Jul 27, 2015 1:43 PM - Simonpackman1: which is enough to ruin prints
Jul 27, 2015 1:43 PM - Mike Kelly: the prevailing theory is there's microfractures in the glass and when you remove a print from the bed it causes the glass to fracture off
    Jul 27, 2015 1:43 PM - Simonpackman1: I see
Jul 27, 2015 1:44 PM - Simonpackman1: ya because metal is far to soft to damage the glass unles you start swinging the scrapper
Jul 27, 2015 1:44 PM - Simonpackman1: microfractures make sense because removing prints can be difficult sometime
Jul 27, 2015 1:44 PM - Simonpackman1: with abs I use hairspray and holy moly
    Jul 27, 2015 1:44 PM - Simonpackman1: its like cemented on sometimes
Jul 27, 2015 1:44 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah i believe it usually also occurs when you try and remove the bed from a heated surface
Jul 27, 2015 1:45 PM - Simonpackman1: I always wait until the bed has cooled though
    Jul 27, 2015 1:45 PM - Simonpackman1: should I remove while hot or cold
Jul 27, 2015 1:45 PM - Mike Glass: use tape, over your fracture, thats what im doing now, works great.
    Jul 27, 2015 1:45 PM - daniel871: Cold.
    Jul 27, 2015 1:45 PM - Simonpackman1: oooo
    Jul 27, 2015 1:45 PM - Simonpackman1: ok yeah i do cold
Jul 27, 2015 1:46 PM - Simonpackman1: maybe painters tape with hairspray then i can peel the tape off and not chip the bed
Jul 27, 2015 1:46 PM - Mike Glass: then you can pull your print off right away
    Jul 27, 2015 1:46 PM - Simonpackman1: i should have done this a while ago
    Jul 27, 2015 1:46 PM - Simonpackman1: such a simple solution
Jul 27, 2015 1:46 PM - Mike Glass: yep, Im using frog tape
    Jul 27, 2015 1:46 PM - Simonpackman1: frog tape?
    Jul 27, 2015 1:46 PM - Simonpackman1: like gorrila?
Jul 27, 2015 1:46 PM - Mike Glass: with a dab of hairspray
    Jul 27, 2015 1:46 PM - Mike Kelly: it's a brand
    Jul 27, 2015 1:47 PM - daniel871: Aqua Net hairspray.
Jul 27, 2015 1:47 PM - Mike Glass: get it lowes
    Jul 27, 2015 1:47 PM - Simonpackman1: nice
    Jul 27, 2015 1:47 PM - Simonpackman1: cool
Jul 27, 2015 1:47 PM - Mike Glass: im sure any tape will work though
Jul 27, 2015 1:47 PM - Mike Glass: this comes off the bed nice with now residue
Jul 27, 2015 1:47 PM - Mike Glass: no residue
Jul 27, 2015 1:47 PM - daniel871: Well, I'm glad to know I'm not the only one with bed chips.
Jul 27, 2015 1:48 PM - Mike Glass: yea, all my prints have a unique blob on the bottom..lol
    Jul 27, 2015 1:49 PM - Simonpackman1: custom
Jul 27, 2015 1:49 PM - daniel871: Still want to get the warranteed bed though.
Jul 27, 2015 1:49 PM - Simonpackman1: whenever I would build stuff anf make mistakes my dad would say no its okay its custom
    Jul 27, 2015 1:49 PM - Simonpackman1: yeah
Jul 27, 2015 1:50 PM - Simonpackman1: i put in a replacement but I will be more delicate from now on and use tape
Jul 27, 2015 1:51 PM - daniel871: Should the ribbon on the bed go thru the little hook thing on the Y carriage? Mine never did and I saw it when I took the bed off to better get at the stepper screw while the robo was sideways.
Jul 27, 2015 1:59 PM - Mike Kelly: the thing that's supposed to hold the wiring?
Jul 27, 2015 2:15 PM - daniel871: Attached to the actual bed. My wiring went out between the glass & carriage then went into the base of the robo.
Jul 27, 2015 2:15 PM - daniel871: No attaching to the carriage other than magnets.
Jul 27, 2015 2:16 PM - jbigler1986: Would you guys be cool if i bought that printer from folgertech
Jul 27, 2015 2:20 PM - Mike Glass: I wouldn't hold it against you, you could burn yourself..lol
Jul 27, 2015 2:20 PM - Mike Kelly: as long as it's not a davinci
    Jul 27, 2015 2:25 PM - jbigler1986: Lol
Jul 27, 2015 2:40 PM - Mike Kelly: is anyone near their robo?
    Jul 27, 2015 2:43 PM - donhuevo: I am
Jul 27, 2015 2:44 PM - Mike Kelly: can you snap a picture of the vents for the PSU fan?

Jul 27, 2015 2:47 PM - donhuevo: two days ago?

Jul 27, 2015 2:49 PM - Mike Glass: I started the flip, great flippen jesus..lol
Jul 27, 2015 2:49 PM - Mike Kelly: what did we tell you about making meth around your robo
Jul 27, 2015 2:50 PM - donhuevo: I don't make it over to that side of the printer very often
Jul 27, 2015 3:02 PM - Mike Glass: whatcha doin Don
    Jul 27, 2015 3:03 PM - donhuevo: nothin'
Jul 27, 2015 3:03 PM - Mike Glass: well thats not very productive
    Jul 27, 2015 3:04 PM - donhuevo: it's a productive-optional day
Jul 27, 2015 3:04 PM - Mike Glass: True that.
Jul 27, 2015 3:05 PM - donhuevo: was hoping to work on the z probe but the switches aren't here yet
Jul 27, 2015 3:06 PM - Mike Glass: actuator or servo?
    Jul 27, 2015 3:06 PM - donhuevo: servo
    Jul 27, 2015 3:06 PM - donhuevo: mg90s
    Jul 27, 2015 3:06 PM - donhuevo: tiny
Jul 27, 2015 3:06 PM - Mike Glass: wow that is tiny
Jul 27, 2015 3:07 PM - donhuevo: these are the switches I'm waiting on... http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HGAKD54?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=od_aui_detailpages00
Jul 27, 2015 3:08 PM - Mike Glass: there are the ones I got for the z probe. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OJZPMD2?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00
Jul 27, 2015 3:08 PM - donhuevo: if I go and make a Marvin, does that count as productivity?
Jul 27, 2015 3:09 PM - Mike Glass: as long as you read a book
Jul 27, 2015 3:09 PM - donhuevo: those are huge
Jul 27, 2015 3:09 PM - Mike Glass: I use them the end stops on the cnc and soon z probe
Jul 27, 2015 3:10 PM - donhuevo: ah, the cnc. got it
Jul 27, 2015 3:10 PM - Mike Glass: they arent that big

Jul 27, 2015 3:12 PM - Mike Kelly: shoulda used leaf spring switches
Jul 27, 2015 3:14 PM - Mike Glass: why so they can rattle, rattle
Jul 27, 2015 3:17 PM - Stephen Capistron: i really hate the hexagonal recess for nuts
    Jul 27, 2015 3:18 PM - Mike Kelly: wut
Jul 27, 2015 3:20 PM - Stephen Capistron: the recess that are designed into some parts to capture the nut and make a wrench not needed
Jul 27, 2015 3:20 PM - Mike Kelly: why do you hate it
Jul 27, 2015 3:20 PM - Stephen Capistron: they inevitably round out the hole and the nuts just spin
Jul 27, 2015 3:20 PM - Stephen Capistron: then there is nothing to grab a hold of
Jul 27, 2015 3:21 PM - Mike Kelly: fair enough, i use them a lot though
Jul 27, 2015 3:21 PM - Mike Kelly: reducing tolerances helps on that
Jul 27, 2015 3:22 PM - donhuevo: one Marvin... check.
Jul 27, 2015 3:22 PM - Mike Kelly: what part are you using it with
Jul 27, 2015 3:25 PM - Stephen Capistron: taking the extruder off the carriage
Jul 27, 2015 3:25 PM - jim3Dbot: Don those switches won't hold up, the best mechanical switch to use would be a microswitch.......for sure
Jul 27, 2015 3:26 PM - donhuevo: why do you think it won't hold up?
Jul 27, 2015 3:27 PM - jim3Dbot: They are very noisy upon actuation......the micro less arcing...quick......notice no spec on 'number of cycles'
Jul 27, 2015 3:28 PM - donhuevo: it's just sensing. no real current.
Jul 27, 2015 3:29 PM - Mike Kelly: has to do with the snap action
Jul 27, 2015 3:29 PM - Stephen Capistron: those sealed tact switches are usually good for 100k cycles if i remember right
Jul 27, 2015 3:29 PM - jim3Dbot: A mom. type pushbutton switch would need gold plated contacts...if you want some life from them....
Jul 27, 2015 3:29 PM - Stephen Capistron: did some life time determination work on some equipment that used those and dome switches
Jul 27, 2015 3:29 PM - donhuevo: divide that by 9 and that's how many prints i'll get per switch
Jul 27, 2015 3:30 PM - Stephen Capistron: i want to say the brand we were using was C&K or something like that
Jul 27, 2015 3:30 PM - donhuevo: I'm going to mount it at the end of the little servo arm
    Jul 27, 2015 3:31 PM - donhuevo: a tiny servo needs a tinier switch
    Jul 27, 2015 3:32 PM - Stephen Capistron: http://www.ck-components.com/product-matrix,21142,en.html
Jul 27, 2015 3:33 PM - Mike Glass: man you could of got 1Million cycles don.. geez
Jul 27, 2015 3:33 PM - jim3Dbot: snap switches will never see...100k cycles on low cost units......also....if little ua's current is involved...you may run into what they call ''current wetting'" not enuf current to operate with a low resistance... into the
    Jul 27, 2015 3:34 PM - jim3Dbot: load
Jul 27, 2015 3:34 PM - donhuevo: all I can do is try and see.
    Jul 27, 2015 3:34 PM - jim3Dbot: not an alarmist...but seen it before
    Jul 27, 2015 3:35 PM - jim3Dbot: agree
Jul 27, 2015 3:35 PM - jim3Dbot: Just put a zipper on the switches to change when required...
Jul 27, 2015 3:36 PM - donhuevo: if it wets itself, I'll go a different way
Jul 27, 2015 3:36 PM - Mike Kelly: would make mounting the robo easier
    Jul 27, 2015 3:36 PM - jim3Dbot: seen that coming...
Jul 27, 2015 3:38 PM - donhuevo: yep. It would be a small enough package to put almost anywhere
    Jul 27, 2015 3:41 PM - jim3Dbot: http://www.mouser.com/ds/2/307/SS_1110-14757.pdf, used thousands of these on remote control skylight blinds...a product of mine...never a failure...
Jul 27, 2015 3:42 PM - donhuevo: way too big for what I'm planning but I get where you're coming from
    Jul 27, 2015 3:43 PM - jim3Dbot: got it....size matters
    Jul 27, 2015 3:44 PM - jbigler1986: Pimpin
Jul 27, 2015 3:45 PM - jbigler1986: I took the gofundme money and bought gold teeth. Sorry guys
    Jul 27, 2015 3:46 PM - daniel871: Gold tooth, you mean?
Jul 27, 2015 3:46 PM - jbigler1986: No. Teeth. The guy on the corner of the street had a hell of a deal
    Jul 27, 2015 3:47 PM - jbigler1986: How is ur dual going?
Jul 27, 2015 4:22 PM - donhuevo: my dual is going about as good as yours jb
    Jul 27, 2015 4:27 PM - Mike Glass: doh
    Jul 27, 2015 4:28 PM - jbigler1986: :( :(
Jul 27, 2015 4:29 PM - donhuevo: wasn't sure who you were asking
Jul 27, 2015 4:29 PM - Mike Kelly: i should get out there and do some work but my printers were saying it's 35C in there
    Jul 27, 2015 4:29 PM - Mike Kelly: nty
Jul 27, 2015 4:33 PM - Mike Glass: high here today is was 55F Mike, it may snow..lol
    Jul 27, 2015 4:34 PM - Mike Kelly:

    Jul 27, 2015 4:35 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: how's it going yall
Jul 27, 2015 4:35 PM - Mike Kelly: insanely serious airsofters
Jul 27, 2015 4:35 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: just wanted to hop on here and see if I can answer any questions
Jul 27, 2015 4:36 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: but ALSO, I wanted to ask you guys some questions too
Jul 27, 2015 4:36 PM - Mike Kelly: whats up
Jul 27, 2015 4:36 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: what do you think about hosting some collaborations on the forums? One thing we wanted to do was build some teams to help make some amazing stuff for us for CES 2016 that we can showcase
Jul 27, 2015 4:36 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: and highlight the maker
Jul 27, 2015 4:37 PM - Mike Kelly: what sort of incentives did you have in mind
    Jul 27, 2015 4:37 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: not sure
Jul 27, 2015 4:38 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: nothing in mind at this point other than potentially paying makers for their creation and highlighting them
Jul 27, 2015 4:38 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: or giving them half off the R2 or something as a beta tester
Jul 27, 2015 4:40 PM - Mike Kelly: kinda thin right now, maybe flush out the idea some more
    Jul 27, 2015 4:41 PM - Mike Glass: I will beta test a R2:)
Jul 27, 2015 4:47 PM - donhuevo: getting the R2 to play a hologram of Princess Leia would be something
    Jul 27, 2015 4:47 PM - donhuevo: just sayin'
    Jul 27, 2015 4:47 PM - jbigler1986: i will beta test any robo printer :D
Jul 27, 2015 4:48 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: I am more talking about the concept
Jul 27, 2015 4:48 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: it is thin on the incentive
Jul 27, 2015 4:48 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: but the key is to generate collaboration one the forum rather than have it be a tech support hub primarily
Jul 27, 2015 4:48 PM - jbigler1986: come on Braydon. Send one my way. I will test a new r1 version for ya
    Jul 27, 2015 4:48 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: on*
Jul 27, 2015 4:49 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: Best I can do is a big discount for you bud
Jul 27, 2015 4:50 PM - jbigler1986: pm me that discount por favor
Jul 27, 2015 4:50 PM - Mike Kelly: i think the idea is good, i've been suggesting that for a while
    Jul 27, 2015 4:50 PM - jbigler1986: that you have
Jul 27, 2015 4:50 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: ok that is what I am wondering
Jul 27, 2015 4:50 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: just need to create a thread once we flush out the idea
    Jul 27, 2015 4:50 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: and begin there
    Jul 27, 2015 4:50 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah
Jul 27, 2015 4:50 PM - Mike Kelly: we should make use of the projects resource
Jul 27, 2015 4:51 PM - Mike Kelly: replace the old "projects" sub forum with that
    Jul 27, 2015 4:51 PM - jbigler1986: i'm down for it once i get going again
Jul 27, 2015 4:51 PM - Mike Kelly: that will give us more flexibility in featuring particular conten
Jul 27, 2015 4:51 PM - Mike Kelly: and with a contest or something we could get it filled in
Jul 27, 2015 4:51 PM - Mike Kelly: then we could do some sort of "first place gets X, second place gets Y, etc"
    Jul 27, 2015 4:52 PM - jbigler1986: first place gets a Tiko?
Jul 27, 2015 4:52 PM - Mike Glass: free trip to CES would cool also.
Jul 27, 2015 4:52 PM - Mike Kelly: kinda like what instructables is doing
    Jul 27, 2015 4:52 PM - donhuevo: mmmmm Tiko
    Jul 27, 2015 4:53 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: a Tiko?!
    Jul 27, 2015 4:53 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: no no no
    Jul 27, 2015 4:53 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: haha
Jul 27, 2015 4:53 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: yeah the CES thing is a GREAT idea
    Jul 27, 2015 4:53 PM - jbigler1986: I would love to go to CES
Jul 27, 2015 4:54 PM - donhuevo: third place can be pictures with the robo3d girls

Jul 27, 2015 5:44 PM - Mike Kelly: blame JB
    Jul 27, 2015 5:44 PM - Mike Glass: yeah

    Jul 27, 2015 5:51 PM - Mike Glass: and probably a accelerometer
Jul 27, 2015 5:54 PM - Mike Kelly: this new bloody mary mix tastes like cocktail sauce
    Jul 27, 2015 5:55 PM - Mike Glass: eww
Jul 27, 2015 5:55 PM - Mike Glass: guess it would be ok if your eatin shrimp with it..lol
Jul 27, 2015 5:57 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah kinda disappointed
Jul 27, 2015 5:57 PM - Mike Kelly: oh well
Jul 27, 2015 5:57 PM - donhuevo: shrimp would make a nice garnish
Jul 27, 2015 5:57 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah if i had shrimp it would be good
Jul 27, 2015 5:57 PM - donhuevo: nicely curved to hang on the rim of the glass
Jul 27, 2015 5:58 PM - Mike Kelly: kinda makes sense why there's a fisherman on the bottle now
Jul 27, 2015 5:58 PM - Mike Glass: that it would
Jul 27, 2015 5:59 PM - Mike Kelly: god this is weird
    Jul 27, 2015 6:00 PM - TxKent: What's weird?
Jul 27, 2015 6:02 PM - Mike Kelly: this bloody mary mix
Jul 27, 2015 6:02 PM - TxKent: Ahh. What brand?
Jul 27, 2015 6:02 PM - TxKent: I found I like the spicy V8 juice better than most mixes.
Jul 27, 2015 6:03 PM - Mike Kelly: major peters hot and spicy
Jul 27, 2015 6:03 PM - TxKent: Just drop an olive stuffed with a jalapeno in it, and call it an evening.
Jul 27, 2015 6:03 PM - Mike Kelly: i really lize Zing Zang
Jul 27, 2015 6:04 PM - TxKent: Yeah, Zing Zang is good.
Jul 27, 2015 6:06 PM - TxKent: Now you have me wanting a bloody mary, and I don't think I have any mix, or vodka.
Jul 27, 2015 6:06 PM - TxKent: Tabasco makes a decent bloody mary mix.
Jul 27, 2015 6:06 PM - Mike Kelly: hmm yeah
Jul 27, 2015 6:07 PM - TxKent: Say, printing question: What would cause layers to "squish" down and bulge out? Too much heat on the extruder?
Jul 27, 2015 6:07 PM - Mike Kelly: z offset is too low
    Jul 27, 2015 6:07 PM - TxKent: Ok.
Jul 27, 2015 6:07 PM - TxKent: Couldn't get the 5mm stepped calibration cube to print worth a crap.
Jul 27, 2015 6:08 PM - Mike Kelly: what happened
Jul 27, 2015 6:08 PM - TxKent: I appreciate all of the advice you guys dole out on the forum.
Jul 27, 2015 6:08 PM - TxKent: It looked like somebody pressed down on the top 2 cube sections when it was hot.

    Jul 27, 2015 6:08 PM - TxKent: Like a marshmallow.
Jul 27, 2015 6:09 PM - Mike Kelly: ah yeah that's an issue with being too hot
Jul 27, 2015 6:09 PM - Mike Kelly: gotta make sure the part cooling fan is running
Jul 27, 2015 6:09 PM - Mike Kelly: what temps are you printing at
    Jul 27, 2015 6:10 PM - TxKent: 210
    Jul 27, 2015 6:10 PM - PeterkSharma: Hey all!
Jul 27, 2015 6:10 PM - Mike Kelly: i drop down to 195 after the first layer
Jul 27, 2015 6:12 PM - TxKent: Ok. I'll try to do that. I got the reprapdiscount xxl controller, and switched to cura, and made too many changes all at once.
Jul 27, 2015 6:12 PM - PeterkSharma: Quick Question: I just got an LCD for my ROBO, when i flipped it up there was a micro sd card reader plugged into the AUX-3 port. Can I just move that from port 1 to 3 or do i need to redifine anything in the firmware?
Jul 27, 2015 6:12 PM - Mike Kelly: just unplug it, that's the sd card reader
    Jul 27, 2015 6:12 PM - PeterkSharma: @TxKent, Same boat brotha!
Jul 27, 2015 6:13 PM - TxKent: I had the same issue with my ... yeah.
Jul 27, 2015 6:13 PM - Mike Kelly: won't need it since the lcd has one now
    Jul 27, 2015 6:13 PM - PeterkSharma: lol
Jul 27, 2015 6:13 PM - TxKent: I think I moved to 2... also, be aware you have no Z control in 10mm movement, only 1 and lower.
    Jul 27, 2015 6:13 PM - PeterkSharma: lol
    Jul 27, 2015 6:16 PM - TxKent: [IMG]
Jul 27, 2015 6:18 PM - Mike Kelly: yup definitely too hot
Jul 27, 2015 6:18 PM - TxKent: Ok. Guess it depends on the filament.
Jul 27, 2015 6:18 PM - Mike Kelly: adding a second parts fan helps
Jul 27, 2015 6:19 PM - TxKent: I actually seem to have better luck with ABS. I was looking into a second fan. I think I have a 40mm around here somewhere.
Jul 27, 2015 6:19 PM - Mike Kelly: and lower to temp to like 200 or 195 if you've updated your firmware lately
    Jul 27, 2015 6:19 PM - TxKent: I'm running v2.
Jul 27, 2015 6:19 PM - Mike Kelly: ABS cools much more rapidly so you don't use a parts fan
Jul 27, 2015 6:19 PM - Mike Kelly: i think V2 still has the bug that sets the minimum extrusion temp to 195
Jul 27, 2015 6:19 PM - Mike Kelly: so you can do like 197
    Jul 27, 2015 6:19 PM - Mike Kelly: or update to v3
Jul 27, 2015 6:20 PM - TxKent: Ok, well, I read some issues with v3, but if it's stable, I'll go ahead and upgrade.
Jul 27, 2015 6:20 PM - TxKent: Wife has declared that I'm to go eat.
Jul 27, 2015 6:20 PM - Mike Kelly: it's stable, it's the same core firmware with some temperature values tweeked
Jul 27, 2015 6:21 PM - TxKent: Thanks for your time & assistance. Like I said, you really rock the forums.
Jul 27, 2015 6:21 PM - PeterkSharma: I cant get myn lcd controller to show anything on the screen
Jul 27, 2015 6:21 PM - Mike Kelly: what kind of LCD did you get peter
Jul 27, 2015 6:21 PM - PeterkSharma: it just lights up, i flowed tom and novice expert guides.
Jul 27, 2015 6:21 PM - PeterkSharma: Reprap Full color
Jul 27, 2015 6:22 PM - Mike Kelly: full graphics yeah?
Jul 27, 2015 6:22 PM - Mike Kelly: did you add the u8glib to your libraries and uncomment the right line?
    Jul 27, 2015 6:22 PM - PeterkSharma: correct
Jul 27, 2015 6:23 PM - PeterkSharma: the upload said complete
Jul 27, 2015 6:23 PM - Mike Kelly: well double check you have the connections correct
Jul 27, 2015 6:23 PM - Mike Kelly: then try adjusting the potentiometer that affects contrast
Jul 27, 2015 6:24 PM - PeterkSharma: i can see black sots on the controller but nopt graphics and it looks very washed out
Jul 27, 2015 6:25 PM - Mike Kelly: might be the contrast
    Jul 27, 2015 6:27 PM - PeterkSharma: no love

    Jul 27, 2015 6:37 PM - PeterkSharma: yeah
    Jul 27, 2015 6:38 PM - jbigler1986: sketch > include library > add zip library
    Jul 27, 2015 6:39 PM - Mike Kelly: didn't know about that
    Jul 27, 2015 6:39 PM - jbigler1986: now ya do. ;)
    Jul 27, 2015 6:39 PM - PeterkSharma: i did both
Jul 27, 2015 6:40 PM - PeterkSharma: i did jbigler first and it didnt show up in the library. So i manually added it. Loading firmware now
Jul 27, 2015 6:40 PM - Mike Kelly: and you uncommented #define REPRAP_DISCOUNT_FULL_GRAPHIC_SMART_CONTROLLER and commented out the XXL one?
Jul 27, 2015 6:40 PM - jbigler1986: also sd support probably needs uncommented as well
Jul 27, 2015 6:42 PM - PeterkSharma: where is the sd support, I'll do screen shot

Jul 27, 2015 6:46 PM - jbigler1986: also his firmware may not have the graphic controller line
    Jul 27, 2015 6:46 PM - jbigler1986: i had to add it to mine
Jul 27, 2015 6:47 PM - Mike Glass: yep mine as well.

Jul 27, 2015 7:13 PM - Mike Kelly: Folgertech probably. At least that's made with aluminum extrusion
Jul 27, 2015 7:13 PM - Mike Glass: need a to design the robo spool holder to use bearings on the top, tired of oiling the rod.
Jul 27, 2015 7:13 PM - Mike Kelly: I have a friend with one of those Chinese prusas and it's not great

Jul 27, 2015 7:17 PM - Mike Kelly: I should see if the garage has cooled down enough
    Jul 27, 2015 7:18 PM - Mike Glass: its 54 here Mike...heh
Jul 27, 2015 7:25 PM - daniel871: Hm. Apparently, the glass bed will crack and shard up if you shoot for a smooth first layer on the bottom of the print according to Jerry.
    Jul 27, 2015 7:26 PM - daniel871: $40 for a replacement sheet of glass.
    Jul 27, 2015 7:27 PM - jbigler1986: what
    Jul 27, 2015 7:27 PM - daniel871: Yep.
Jul 27, 2015 7:28 PM - Mike Kelly: did he seriously say that
    Jul 27, 2015 7:28 PM - daniel871: Yeah.
    Jul 27, 2015 7:29 PM - daniel871:
Jul 27, 2015 7:30 PM - daniel871: Bah, not all formatting tags work.
Jul 27, 2015 7:30 PM - jbigler1986: i shoot for that every print. then i scrape the hell out of it to remove it. never had an issue
Jul 27, 2015 7:33 PM - daniel871: I'm too exhausted from the heat to care right now. A/C died last night and the house was like a car when I got home. Fixed and working again now, but it's only just took the ddge off the heat.
    Jul 27, 2015 7:33 PM - daniel871: Edge
Jul 27, 2015 7:34 PM - Mike Kelly: howd it fail?
Jul 27, 2015 7:34 PM - daniel871: Just old and Sunday being brutally hot.
    Jul 27, 2015 7:34 PM - Mike Kelly: ah
Jul 27, 2015 7:35 PM - Mike Kelly: our compressor died on us last year
Jul 27, 2015 7:35 PM - daniel871: Capacitor failure and some wires burning tryinv to work anyway until the breaker kicked.
Jul 27, 2015 7:35 PM - Mike Kelly: right during a freak heatwave in may
Jul 27, 2015 7:35 PM - Mike Kelly: our house got up to 90
    Jul 27, 2015 7:35 PM - daniel871: Compressor still good, just okd.
    Jul 27, 2015 7:35 PM - daniel871: Old
Jul 27, 2015 7:36 PM - daniel871: So that's 6k to save up asap to just replace the unit.
Jul 27, 2015 7:37 PM - daniel871: 22 year old unit so its about time any way.
    Jul 27, 2015 7:37 PM - jbigler1986: ouch
Jul 27, 2015 7:38 PM - Stephen Capistron: It's also your winter heat pump right?
Jul 27, 2015 7:38 PM - TxKent: Can anybody advise on this: http://imgur.com/oN1wtWm
Jul 27, 2015 7:38 PM - daniel871: No heat pump. Electric A/C and propane furnace.
Jul 27, 2015 7:39 PM - daniel871: Service box for the house probably won't support full electric.
Jul 27, 2015 7:39 PM - Marquis Johnson: Am I nuts? I can't find the Firmware Dowload link
Jul 27, 2015 7:39 PM - Stephen Capistron: I didn't think that was a common arrangement in the south
Jul 27, 2015 7:40 PM - Stephen Capistron: Nope, it was moved around again
    Jul 27, 2015 7:40 PM - daniel871: Probably isn't.
Jul 27, 2015 7:40 PM - TxKent: Marquis! I enjoy your videos. When do you head off for school?
Jul 27, 2015 7:40 PM - Marquis Johnson: Aug 20 is first day, I'm so ready
Jul 27, 2015 7:41 PM - Mike Kelly: where you going?
Jul 27, 2015 7:41 PM - daniel871: That looks like a regular mattercontrol whistle to me.
    Jul 27, 2015 7:41 PM - Mike Glass: http://guide.robo3d.com/c/Firmware
Jul 27, 2015 7:41 PM - Stephen Capistron: What type of engineering are you going to study?
    Jul 27, 2015 7:42 PM - Marquis Johnson: THANKS!
Jul 27, 2015 7:42 PM - TxKent: The layers are coming apart. Maybe this is better: [IMG]
Jul 27, 2015 7:42 PM - Marquis Johnson: Electrical Engineering with a focus in Robotics
Jul 27, 2015 7:42 PM - Mike Glass: hate when they dont link old pages.
Jul 27, 2015 7:42 PM - Mike Kelly: good choice
Jul 27, 2015 7:42 PM - Marquis Johnson: at Arizona State University
    Jul 27, 2015 7:43 PM - Mike Kelly: very cool, tempe's a nice place
Jul 27, 2015 7:43 PM - Mike Glass: TxKent are you using mattercontrol?
Jul 27, 2015 7:44 PM - TxKent: For now, yes. I'm trying to get usable prints again. Since I installed my XXL controller, and moved to Cura, I can't get anything decent out of it.
Jul 27, 2015 7:44 PM - daniel871: Careful Marquis. Don't want this to happen to you. [IMG]

    Jul 27, 2015 7:44 PM - Mike Kelly: with electrical engineering that's a guarantee
    Jul 27, 2015 7:45 PM - Mike Kelly: couldn't handle that
Jul 27, 2015 7:45 PM - Mike Kelly: i can only deal with so many impossible numbers
    Jul 27, 2015 7:45 PM - TxKent: LOL
Jul 27, 2015 7:46 PM - Mike Glass: can you do a post in the forum with all your settings and filament your using?
Jul 27, 2015 7:46 PM - daniel871: Did anyone else get the levitating screwdriver trick to work?
Jul 27, 2015 7:46 PM - TxKent: I'm wondering if the XXL controller is screwing up the settings.
    Jul 27, 2015 7:46 PM - daniel871: Not likely.
    Jul 27, 2015 7:47 PM - Mike Kelly: nope
Jul 27, 2015 7:47 PM - daniel871: As it has nothing to do with the gcode.
Jul 27, 2015 7:47 PM - daniel871: Unless you fiddle with temps/speeds with it after program start.
    Jul 27, 2015 7:48 PM - Mike Kelly: yup
Jul 27, 2015 7:48 PM - TxKent: Nope. The calibration cubes generally print fine. Seems like other prints can be pulled apart by the layers.
Jul 27, 2015 7:49 PM - Mike Kelly: have you calibrated your extruder
Jul 27, 2015 7:49 PM - Marquis Johnson: Lol Daniel. Suprisingly enough the Polytechnic Engineering campus has a large number of females.
Jul 27, 2015 7:50 PM - Mike Glass: A think of beauty [IMG]
Jul 27, 2015 7:50 PM - Mike Kelly: are you building the chair?
    Jul 27, 2015 7:51 PM - Mike Glass: yep. 3rd piece today
Jul 27, 2015 7:51 PM - Mike Glass: finally got the right temp
Jul 27, 2015 7:52 PM - TxKent: Mike K: do you have a link for that - if not, I'll search the forums.
Jul 27, 2015 7:52 PM - Marquis Johnson: How many pieces are you gonna need?
    Jul 27, 2015 7:53 PM - Mike Kelly:
    Jul 27, 2015 7:53 PM - TxKent: Thank you.
    Jul 27, 2015 7:54 PM - Mike Glass: 82 pieces
Jul 27, 2015 7:54 PM - TxKent: Wow. Are you going to mix colors on the chair?
Jul 27, 2015 7:54 PM - Marquis Johnson: GEEZ, how long each print
Jul 27, 2015 7:54 PM - Marquis Johnson: TxKent, oh that would be awesome
    Jul 27, 2015 7:55 PM - Mike Glass: 3-4 hours at 80mm/x
    Jul 27, 2015 7:55 PM - Mike Glass: 22% infill
Jul 27, 2015 7:56 PM - Mike Glass: I have White and Smoke alternating colors
    Jul 27, 2015 7:56 PM - Mike Glass: So I can light it up..lol
    Jul 27, 2015 7:58 PM - TxKent: Cool.
Jul 27, 2015 8:00 PM - Marquis Johnson: You will post after completing, right?
Jul 27, 2015 8:01 PM - Mike Glass: yea, might be a month or two.. Im on vacation now so will print as many as I can, been non stop today so far.
Jul 27, 2015 8:01 PM - Mike Kelly: when are you getting a second one?
Jul 27, 2015 8:02 PM - Mike Glass: when you send me one.
    Jul 27, 2015 8:02 PM - Mike Kelly: lol
Jul 27, 2015 8:03 PM - Mike Glass: I rather work on the bap, but time and my ability to design it will take awhile.
    Jul 27, 2015 8:03 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah i hear that
Jul 27, 2015 8:03 PM - Mike Kelly: i need to buy the stupid hardware
Jul 27, 2015 8:03 PM - Mike Kelly: finish the mpcnc
Jul 27, 2015 8:03 PM - Mike Glass: That upgrade I did is awesome, you need to print the new parts for it.
Jul 27, 2015 8:03 PM - Marquis Johnson: Quick Question, what is the cheapest way to ship the printers? A subscriber wants to have me mod their printer, but we are trying to figure out how to get it form Cali to Vegas
    Jul 27, 2015 8:04 PM - donhuevo: road trip
    Jul 27, 2015 8:04 PM - Mike Kelly: haha
    Jul 27, 2015 8:04 PM - Marquis Johnson: Gah...
Jul 27, 2015 8:04 PM - Mike Glass: yea no kidding, or bus it.
    Jul 27, 2015 8:04 PM - jbigler1986: Shipping is not cheap
Jul 27, 2015 8:04 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah probably 40 or 50 to ship it
    Jul 27, 2015 8:05 PM - TxKent: Ouch.
Jul 27, 2015 8:05 PM - Marquis Johnson: Hmm, well that'd be cheaper than gas for my car. But I couldn't find any shipping that cheap. Everything was about 120-200
Jul 27, 2015 8:06 PM - Mike Kelly: wow no way
Jul 27, 2015 8:06 PM - Mike Glass: maybe next day air
Jul 27, 2015 8:07 PM - Mike Kelly: what dimensions and weight did you use?
Jul 27, 2015 8:07 PM - TxKent: Southwest air ships freight... or bus lines. I've rec'd car parts via Greyhound.
    Jul 27, 2015 8:08 PM - Aaron Mitchell: o/ Fellas...
Jul 27, 2015 8:08 PM - Mike Kelly: sup aaron

Jul 27, 2015 8:09 PM - donhuevo: does UPS do metric?
Jul 27, 2015 8:09 PM - Marquis Johnson: Does modeling make it worse on your joints?
Jul 27, 2015 8:10 PM - jbigler1986: UPS have been going off of dimensions. Weight really doesnt matter so much anymore
Jul 27, 2015 8:11 PM - Marquis Johnson: Uh, Mike K. Don't know, but I think I put 22 lbs if it took imperial
Jul 27, 2015 8:11 PM - Aaron Mitchell: No...just fat finger all the keys when I try to type...
    Jul 27, 2015 8:11 PM - jbigler1986: Fedex as well
Jul 27, 2015 8:12 PM - jbigler1986: Our shipping rates have went way up this year. Sucks
Jul 27, 2015 8:13 PM - TxKent: I was just tracking something on FedEx. From LA to LV next business day ground shows $16.67
    Jul 27, 2015 8:14 PM - Marquis Johnson: . . . I'm listening

Jul 27, 2015 8:14 PM - TxKent: I put in 10 kilos and guessed a couple of addresses in LA and LV
Jul 27, 2015 8:14 PM - Mike Glass: shipping really should be getting cheaper, gas prices down and more deliveries then ever.
Jul 27, 2015 8:16 PM - Marquis Johnson: Awesome! Thanks TxKent! I'll let him know right now.
    Jul 27, 2015 8:16 PM - Mike Glass: http://vaughnlive.tv/coolreactions another 4 hour print.
Jul 27, 2015 8:16 PM - TxKent: Run the #'s for yourself first...
Jul 27, 2015 8:16 PM - Mike Kelly: i would go measure my box but it's in the shed....
Jul 27, 2015 8:17 PM - TxKent: Are you taking both printers with you to college Marquis?
Jul 27, 2015 8:17 PM - Mike Kelly: he sold the second one
Jul 27, 2015 8:18 PM - Mike Glass: I have one right here the double boxed
    Jul 27, 2015 8:18 PM - TxKent: Ahh
Jul 27, 2015 8:18 PM - Marquis Johnson: Yea, to my buddy in Vegas. We tradded it for $500 and a .22
    Jul 27, 2015 8:19 PM - Mike Glass: 21.5x18.5x19.5
Jul 27, 2015 8:19 PM - Mike Glass: give or take a few mm
Jul 27, 2015 8:20 PM - Mike Kelly: hopefully not a hand gun mr 19 year old :)
    Jul 27, 2015 8:20 PM - TxKent: LOL o_O
Jul 27, 2015 8:21 PM - TxKent: Shhh... nobody call the ATF.
Jul 27, 2015 8:22 PM - Mike Glass: They are already monitoring this chat, we had some illegal activity going on here this week.
Jul 27, 2015 8:24 PM - TxKent: Oy. The 3d printed gun guy lives here in Austin. Hope it's not that stuff.
Jul 27, 2015 8:24 PM - Mike Glass: no we dont talk about that here
    Jul 27, 2015 8:24 PM - TxKent: Ok. Sorry
Jul 27, 2015 8:25 PM - Marquis Johnson: Lol, in Clark County (for some reason) I can't buy a hand gun at 19, but as long as I am 18 I can. OC is also legal, and no registration is required. But I just leave it in my room for now.
Jul 27, 2015 8:25 PM - Mike Glass: haha no worry, we are easy going here.
Jul 27, 2015 8:26 PM - Marquis Johnson: (i can from a private party is what I meant to add)
Jul 27, 2015 8:26 PM - Marquis Johnson: Yea, it's pretty awesome in the shoutbox. Can't believe this is my first time here.
Jul 27, 2015 8:26 PM - Mike Glass: you can buy one of Craigslist if you really wanted too.
    Jul 27, 2015 8:26 PM - Marquis Johnson: Exactly
Jul 27, 2015 8:27 PM - Mike Glass: Yea most of us are here all day..lol
Jul 27, 2015 8:27 PM - TxKent: I'm going to head to bed. Thanks for the help & links and conversation. Best of luck in college Marquis - don't forget to have some fun. (Just not too much - like Flounder from Animal House.)
Jul 27, 2015 8:28 PM - Mike Glass: Goodnight TxKent.

Jul 27, 2015 8:29 PM - Marquis Johnson: Thanks, and goodnight
Jul 27, 2015 8:29 PM - Mike Glass: Man I could of printed 3 guitars in the time this is going to take me..lol
Jul 27, 2015 8:29 PM - Aaron Mitchell: Whatcha making MG?
Jul 27, 2015 8:29 PM - Mike Glass: THE CHAIR
Jul 27, 2015 8:30 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah it was a bad joke, pretty sure you can also buy handguns from a gun show at 18
Jul 27, 2015 8:31 PM - Mike Kelly: also a good way to circumvent background checks
    Jul 27, 2015 8:31 PM - Mike Glass: http://www.bitsandparts.org/
Jul 27, 2015 8:31 PM - Mike Glass: anybody willing to help me print..lol
Jul 27, 2015 8:32 PM - Mike Glass: Maybe jb could help with his Tiko.
Jul 27, 2015 8:33 PM - Marquis Johnson: JB has a tiko? How is that? my teacher funded it, but hasn't said anything about it yet.
    Jul 27, 2015 8:34 PM - Aaron Mitchell: Nice...That may take a few Tiko's...
Jul 27, 2015 8:34 PM - Aaron Mitchell: He's full of it, Marquis
Jul 27, 2015 8:34 PM - Mike Glass: its a joke here MJ, just like the printer.
    Jul 27, 2015 8:34 PM - jbigler1986: Hey hey hey
Jul 27, 2015 8:34 PM - jbigler1986: At this point i will take it. Lol
Jul 27, 2015 8:34 PM - Mike Glass: lol, I fell for you JB
    Jul 27, 2015 8:35 PM - Mike Glass: feel...omg..lol
Jul 27, 2015 8:35 PM - Mike Glass: shut up Don!
    Jul 27, 2015 8:35 PM - Aaron Mitchell: Mmhmmm...sure...
Jul 27, 2015 8:35 PM - Marquis Johnson: Lol, well I have hopes for it, can't wait to poke and tweak it when my teacher gets his
Jul 27, 2015 8:36 PM - Mike Glass: it will never come to pruition, if that how you spell it..lol
    Jul 27, 2015 8:36 PM - Aaron Mitchell: fruition ?
    Jul 27, 2015 8:36 PM - Mike Kelly: haha
Jul 27, 2015 8:36 PM - Mike Glass: oh shit, too many beers maybe
Jul 27, 2015 8:36 PM - Mike Kelly: it looks like a fun toy but i can't take it seriously as a product
Jul 27, 2015 8:36 PM - Aaron Mitchell: As in the fruits of your labors...or is it the pruits of your labor?
Jul 27, 2015 8:36 PM - Marquis Johnson: well if the printer sucks, the marketing went well
    Jul 27, 2015 8:37 PM - Mike Kelly: 20mm/s max speed :\
Jul 27, 2015 8:37 PM - Marquis Johnson: lol, Aaron
Jul 27, 2015 8:37 PM - Aaron Mitchell: We should call it Speedy Gonzalez
    Jul 27, 2015 8:37 PM - Marquis Johnson: Ouch, that's it. A delta at 20mm/s?!
    Jul 27, 2015 8:37 PM - Mike Kelly: yup
Jul 27, 2015 8:37 PM - Mike Kelly: they admitted to having backlash on the rack and pinion drive
Jul 27, 2015 8:37 PM - Mike Kelly: and so you have to go that slow
Jul 27, 2015 8:37 PM - Aaron Mitchell: Yeah, but it only has a bed 40 mm across...
Jul 27, 2015 8:38 PM - Mike Kelly: they said the fastest they ever tried running it was at 30mm/s but they said 20 was what they advise on
Jul 27, 2015 8:38 PM - Marquis Johnson: How fast have you gotten yours up to?
Jul 27, 2015 8:38 PM - Mike Kelly: i also fail to see how you can source all those parts for $79, the math just doesn't add up
Jul 27, 2015 8:38 PM - Mike Kelly: my robo?
    Jul 27, 2015 8:38 PM - Marquis Johnson: Yea.
Jul 27, 2015 8:39 PM - Mike Kelly: i usually print at 90mm/s, i've gotten some good prints at 120 but not consistent enough
Jul 27, 2015 8:39 PM - Marquis Johnson: Nice. And they really source all the parts from $79?
    Jul 27, 2015 8:40 PM - Mike Kelly: that's what they claim...
Jul 27, 2015 8:40 PM - Marquis Johnson: What do they use, servos from arduino kits?
Jul 27, 2015 8:40 PM - Mike Kelly: giving them $100 of overhead
Jul 27, 2015 8:40 PM - Marquis Johnson: Geez, that cheap
Jul 27, 2015 8:40 PM - Mike Kelly: they claim steppers
Jul 27, 2015 8:40 PM - Mike Kelly: some kind of nema11 mini with a gear on it
Jul 27, 2015 8:40 PM - Marquis Johnson: We shall see
Jul 27, 2015 8:40 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah i'm curious how it'll play out
Jul 27, 2015 8:40 PM - Mike Kelly: if they do manage to manufacture it they're gonna be very low on money to support it
Jul 27, 2015 8:41 PM - Mike Kelly: robo struggled with that a lot and they sold theirs for 500-600
Jul 27, 2015 8:42 PM - Mike Glass: I run 80-90 on my robo non-bowden and its rocking out quality parts, I put the new lead screws in.
Jul 27, 2015 8:42 PM - Marquis Johnson: Ah, I see. Well I hope robo just dominates the market.
    Jul 27, 2015 8:42 PM - jbigler1986: I default at 110. Have printed a few things at 130
Jul 27, 2015 8:42 PM - Mike Kelly: i hope the new R1+ satisfies that
Jul 27, 2015 8:43 PM - Marquis Johnson: What layer height for these speeds? I ussually print this fast only at 50-100 mircons (not that I print at 50 microns often)
    Jul 27, 2015 8:43 PM - Marquis Johnson: R1+?
Jul 27, 2015 8:43 PM - Mike Kelly: they're coming out with a new revision of the R1
    Jul 27, 2015 8:43 PM - jbigler1986: Usually 200 or 150
Jul 27, 2015 8:43 PM - Mike Kelly: has integrated lead screws so no more helical couplers
Jul 27, 2015 8:43 PM - Mike Kelly: and white LED's instead of blue
Jul 27, 2015 8:43 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah 200 is pretty much all i print at
Jul 27, 2015 8:43 PM - Marquis Johnson: Same cost, or the Xtra $100
Jul 27, 2015 8:43 PM - Mike Kelly: same cost
Jul 27, 2015 8:44 PM - Mike Kelly: so if you're in the market i suggest waiting a few weeks
Jul 27, 2015 8:44 PM - Marquis Johnson: Same, always half of my nozzle diameter
    Jul 27, 2015 8:44 PM - jim3Dbot: Lead screws, acme ?
Jul 27, 2015 8:44 PM - Mike Kelly: yes, TR8*4, same as what their upgrade kit uses
Jul 27, 2015 8:44 PM - Mike Kelly: though i hope their QC was a bit better than what they shipped to the first round...
    Jul 27, 2015 8:44 PM - jim3Dbot: nice
Jul 27, 2015 8:44 PM - Mike Kelly: otherwise we're gonna be seeing a lot of ribbing issues still
    Jul 27, 2015 8:45 PM - jbigler1986: TR8*8 works great too
Jul 27, 2015 8:45 PM - Mike Kelly: i found when i tried printing at 100u i needed to run really slow, like 30mm/s
Jul 27, 2015 8:46 PM - Marquis Johnson: Should I wait till next ship date and preorder, or should I just go on amazon with sain smart
Jul 27, 2015 8:46 PM - Mike Kelly: i would suggest waiting, saves you some effort and those sainsmart lead screw steppers are only like 265mm long
Jul 27, 2015 8:46 PM - Mike Kelly: so you need to use that hack i did for jb
    Jul 27, 2015 8:47 PM - Mike Glass: hack, I thought it was a modification..lol
Jul 27, 2015 8:47 PM - Mike Glass: The steppers are a hack though.
Jul 27, 2015 8:47 PM - Marquis Johnson: Ah...I guess I'll wait. Currently don't have Z banding, But I feel that if I change anything mechanically that will fade.
Jul 27, 2015 8:48 PM - Mike Kelly: it should be less than 3 weeks
Jul 27, 2015 8:48 PM - Mike Kelly: they're also gonna have an R1 Pro with supposedly a full color LCD, maybe touch screen, can't recall
Jul 27, 2015 8:48 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah. My hack has been great. So take that
    Jul 27, 2015 8:48 PM - Mike Kelly: i think that'll be 900 though
Jul 27, 2015 8:49 PM - Marquis Johnson: Ah, well still not crazy stupid expensive like the MakerBot.
Jul 27, 2015 8:50 PM - Marquis Johnson: My highschool has one, and the teacher is very jealous of my Robo 3D
Jul 27, 2015 8:50 PM - Mike Kelly: heh yeah you seem to have that thing running well
Jul 27, 2015 8:51 PM - Mike Kelly: which makerbot? hopefully not a gen 5
    Jul 27, 2015 8:51 PM - Marquis Johnson: HA! no a Replicator 2x
    Jul 27, 2015 8:51 PM - Mike Kelly: ah
Jul 27, 2015 8:51 PM - Mike Kelly: that's what i bought for work at the end of 2013
Jul 27, 2015 8:51 PM - Marquis Johnson: But my other freind bsuted one of the side rail supports
Jul 27, 2015 8:51 PM - Mike Kelly: and i got a rep 2 from my contracting company but that thing is finicky
Jul 27, 2015 8:52 PM - Marquis Johnson: So they called me in to fix the piece with my 3D printer
Jul 27, 2015 8:52 PM - Mike Kelly: i think the esteps are wrong
Jul 27, 2015 8:52 PM - Mike Kelly: haha nice
Jul 27, 2015 8:52 PM - Marquis Johnson: Sucks that it is all locked down.
Jul 27, 2015 8:52 PM - Mike Kelly: someone on the 3d printing group said they used their hobby printer to fix a 100k professional series
    Jul 27, 2015 8:52 PM - Marquis Johnson: Whoa, that's awesome
Jul 27, 2015 8:52 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah i heard rumors that the rep 2 and 2x share the same motherboard, but on the 2 they disable the second extruder functionality

Jul 27, 2015 8:53 PM - Mike Kelly: i would have bought a UM2 but at that time their was a 6 month lead time and my boss is way too impatient for that
    Jul 27, 2015 8:53 PM - Marquis Johnson: Is the 2x dual extruder? if that's the case they have a 2 not a 2x
Jul 27, 2015 8:54 PM - Marquis Johnson: It just sucks that the software is locked down. I always wanted to fix it up
Jul 27, 2015 8:54 PM - Mike Glass: UM2 Extended is the king of all printers
Jul 27, 2015 8:56 PM - Marquis Johnson: Looks awesome! A little too much for a poor college student atm though
Jul 27, 2015 8:57 PM - Mike Kelly: Yeah the 2x is dual. I was hoping I could model our system which had a ton of overhang
Jul 27, 2015 8:58 PM - Mike Kelly: turns out dissolve is a bit of a misnomer for hips. More like turns into a paste
Jul 27, 2015 8:58 PM - Mike Kelly: And that goop will then drag along all other features
Jul 27, 2015 8:58 PM - Mike Kelly: I did get a 67 hour print out of it which was cool
Jul 27, 2015 8:59 PM - Marquis Johnson: what do you disolve it with, the one at my old job says limejuice?
    Jul 27, 2015 9:00 PM - Mike Kelly: D-limonene
Jul 27, 2015 9:00 PM - Marquis Johnson: hmm, do you use it as support?

    Jul 27, 2015 9:00 PM - Mike Kelly: D-limonene
Jul 27, 2015 9:00 PM - Marquis Johnson: hmm, do you use it as support?
    Jul 27, 2015 9:01 PM - Mike Kelly: Correct
Jul 27, 2015 9:01 PM - Mike Kelly: You can use hips as a regular material but it's very brittle
Jul 27, 2015 9:02 PM - Marquis Johnson: interesting. The goop drags on other features though?
Jul 27, 2015 9:02 PM - Mike Kelly: Yeah some sort of circulating bath would help that
Jul 27, 2015 9:03 PM - Mike Kelly: As the limonene gets saturated the hips tend to fall off like a paste
Jul 27, 2015 9:04 PM - Mike Kelly: It also didn't help I was trying to print a 40:1 scale model with the support structure being 2in at full scale
Jul 27, 2015 9:04 PM - Mike Kelly: We believe stratasys uses hips but they also use some kind of lye solvent
Jul 27, 2015 9:05 PM - Mike Kelly: And their bath is heated and circulating with possibly a filter
Jul 27, 2015 9:05 PM - Marquis Johnson: Ah, well I'll have to try some when I get back in town (or get to college).
Jul 27, 2015 9:05 PM - Marquis Johnson: Well I will see you guys in the shoutbox again later. I'm headed to bed.
Jul 27, 2015 9:05 PM - Mike Kelly: Yeah me too. Night everyone
Jul 27, 2015 9:06 PM - Mike Glass: night all

Jul 27, 2015 9:08 PM - Droid: Saw that on reddit
Jul 27, 2015 9:09 PM - Mike Glass: Hey Droid
Jul 27, 2015 9:10 PM - Mike Glass: you can get one cheaper on folgertech
Jul 27, 2015 9:10 PM - Mike Glass: with nicer parts too
Jul 27, 2015 9:48 PM - Droid: Meh.. not really looking for another, I got to many hobbies, not enough space
Jul 27, 2015 9:50 PM - Mike Glass: just need a bigger house
    Jul 27, 2015 10:21 PM - Mike Kelly: Ugh... Can't sleep

Jul 28, 2015 6:00 AM - Bill Monroe: it's a disposable fixture though.. should be done with it today, then it'll sit on a shelf for a decade before someone has the cajones to throw it away
    Jul 28, 2015 6:00 AM - Mike Glass: lol
Jul 28, 2015 6:01 AM - Mike Glass: Here ya go JB, better jump on this one. http://www.ebay.com/itm/3d-Gigabot-...9&rk=1&rkt=1&sd=171167571392&autorefresh=true
