Jul 21, 2015 12:53 PM - Aaron Mitchell: JB...just remember it will be more successful if you produce some final product, like say....an educational video on how to make what you are making...
    Jul 21, 2015 12:53 PM - Aaron Mitchell: :)
    Jul 21, 2015 12:53 PM - Mike Glass: maybe do golawyerme.com

Jul 21, 2015 12:56 PM - BryZad: You are printing it in one piece and support in cura ?
Jul 21, 2015 12:56 PM - Aaron Mitchell: BryZad > That wouldn't have been mine...the mount I printed will take different attachments with a specific clip on them I designed...
Jul 21, 2015 12:56 PM - Aaron Mitchell: Yes, printed in one piece...
Jul 21, 2015 12:56 PM - Aaron Mitchell: I used Simplify to print, but it doesn't matter what you use...
    Jul 21, 2015 12:58 PM - Aaron Mitchell: [IMG]
Jul 21, 2015 12:58 PM - Aaron Mitchell: That's all the support that was printed with the bracket, BryZad
    Jul 21, 2015 12:59 PM - BryZad: That's not much
Jul 21, 2015 1:00 PM - BryZad: If you upload it could you send me a link in a message I am on my phone so when I get home I can download it ?
Jul 21, 2015 1:00 PM - Mike Glass: Aaron I printed MK feet last night without support for the lcd, but came out perfect.
    Jul 21, 2015 1:00 PM - Aaron Mitchell: [IMG]
Jul 21, 2015 1:00 PM - Aaron Mitchell: That is the orientation to print in...
Jul 21, 2015 1:01 PM - Aaron Mitchell: I saw that MG...you said bridging did very well?
Jul 21, 2015 1:01 PM - Mike Glass: I was surprised, didnt know it was hollow..lol
Jul 21, 2015 1:01 PM - Aaron Mitchell: MG> I should always let you test print first for me :)
Jul 21, 2015 1:01 PM - BryZad: Yea that's a different bracket sorry I was looking at one that cliped on the side and had angle brackets
Jul 21, 2015 1:03 PM - BryZad: I hope the new stepers are worth the upgrade
Jul 21, 2015 1:03 PM - Aaron Mitchell: BryZad> Yeah, I just created this one yesterday...and will let you know when I post it...just check this evening or tomorrow morning...as I have not slept for four months and am forgetful these days :)
Jul 21, 2015 1:03 PM - Aaron Mitchell: New steppers are solid and smooth...when you don't get a bent rod like Mike :(
Jul 21, 2015 1:04 PM - BryZad: I got a few commission on halo4 halo5 weapons and less sand would make a world of difference
Jul 21, 2015 1:04 PM - Aaron Mitchell: Don't forget to put some dry lube or white lithium grease on them before running them...
Jul 21, 2015 1:05 PM - Aaron Mitchell: They weren't packaged with a layer of oil as should have been done :/
Jul 21, 2015 1:05 PM - BryZad: Thanks agian Mike G for the parts fan links that will be looking at when I get home from work
Jul 21, 2015 1:05 PM - Aaron Mitchell: Need to get a UPS...storm moving in..
Jul 21, 2015 1:06 PM - Mike Glass: sounds good bry
Jul 21, 2015 1:07 PM - Mike Glass: need a 2200 apc ups for the robo
Jul 21, 2015 1:08 PM - Aaron Mitchell: I hope that is the model number and not the wattage you are referring to
Jul 21, 2015 1:10 PM - Aaron Mitchell: Yeah...I don't need something that big...not worried about power outage for hours...
Jul 21, 2015 1:10 PM - Aaron Mitchell: I am looking for something that takes over when the power blinks out intermittently...as that is a bigger issue where I live...
Jul 21, 2015 1:12 PM - Aaron Mitchell: If my power is out for several hours it won't matter where I live...because it will actually be out for days...
Jul 21, 2015 1:12 PM - Aaron Mitchell: Only thing that takes our grid out here long term are hurricanes...
Jul 21, 2015 1:12 PM - Aaron Mitchell: LAst time my power was out lasted two weeks...
Jul 21, 2015 1:13 PM - Aaron Mitchell: Real problem is shitty grid with constant drops, brownouts and surges...need a ups more for power conditioning than anything
    Jul 21, 2015 1:13 PM - jbigler1986: WTF
Jul 21, 2015 1:14 PM - Aaron Mitchell: I live just south of Kennedy Space Center on the coast of Florida...
Jul 21, 2015 1:19 PM - Mike Kelly: a benefit of living in the mountains
Jul 21, 2015 1:22 PM - BryZad: Living in Arizona sucks when you try and do finish work on props using bondo
    Jul 21, 2015 1:22 PM - Mike Kelly:
Jul 21, 2015 1:22 PM - BryZad: Or rotocasting parts cause the plastic kicks of in less than a few mins
Jul 21, 2015 1:23 PM - Aaron Mitchell: yeah...I could imagine...We have the opposite problem here...it's called jungle hot for a reason here
Jul 21, 2015 1:23 PM - Mike Kelly: can't really see the details that well
Jul 21, 2015 1:24 PM - BryZad: Looking like it is coming out good ?
Jul 21, 2015 1:24 PM - Mike Kelly: not sure i had to get back to work
Jul 21, 2015 1:24 PM - BryZad: Hey what two parts fans are you using
Jul 21, 2015 1:25 PM - BryZad: Are the wired in parallel off one connector
Jul 21, 2015 1:25 PM - Mike Kelly: it seems like it's doing ok
    Jul 21, 2015 1:25 PM - Mike Kelly: yup
Jul 21, 2015 1:25 PM - BryZad: Hmmmm I think I got 2 low cfm fans then I found on amazon
Jul 21, 2015 1:26 PM - Mike Kelly: not sure these specified the cfm
Jul 21, 2015 1:26 PM - Mike Kelly: lemme see if i can get yo a link, amazon's being real slow here
Jul 21, 2015 1:27 PM - BryZad: Okay can you send it in a message would be greatly appreciated
    Jul 21, 2015 1:27 PM - Mike Kelly: http://www.amazon.com/Case-40x40x10...=UTF8&qid=1437510540&sr=8-4&keywords=40mm+fan
Jul 21, 2015 1:27 PM - Mike Kelly: i think it was that
Jul 21, 2015 1:29 PM - Mike Glass: lol same one I sent you Bry
Jul 21, 2015 1:30 PM - BryZad: Awesome thanks mikes
    Jul 21, 2015 1:31 PM - Stephen Capistron: MK > [IMG]
Jul 21, 2015 1:31 PM - Stephen Capistron: Then one in the back middle
Jul 21, 2015 1:32 PM - Stephen Capistron: Might have to file / sand any markings off the top, but that is no big deal
    Jul 21, 2015 1:33 PM - Mike Kelly: hmm
Jul 21, 2015 1:34 PM - Mike Kelly: i wish it was adjustable mid print like on gantry styles
Jul 21, 2015 1:34 PM - Mike Kelly: also i have concerns about magnetic force being the only thing securing it in position
Jul 21, 2015 1:36 PM - Stephen Capistron: Well the one in the back could be a non adjustable post that captures and prevents that point from moving
Jul 21, 2015 1:38 PM - Stephen Capistron: If you moved the bolts so they lined up with the corners of the bed and flipped them over the ends of the bots could land in a little recess in another piece that clips / glued to the corner of the bed
Jul 21, 2015 1:39 PM - Stephen Capistron: Adjusting mid print on a moving object? you crazy
Jul 21, 2015 1:39 PM - Stephen Capistron: If you really wanted you could drill a small hole in the top of the bolt too
    Jul 21, 2015 1:42 PM - bamhm182: Hey everyone
Jul 21, 2015 1:42 PM - Mike Kelly: howdy bam
Jul 21, 2015 1:42 PM - bamhm182: Should be getting my upgraded Z Steppers today
Jul 21, 2015 1:42 PM - Mike Kelly: what prevents the bolts from wobbling, just glue?
Jul 21, 2015 1:42 PM - bamhm182: Then it shall be time to break my Robo again! Haha
Jul 21, 2015 1:43 PM - Mike Kelly: check them for trueness before you take anything apart
    Jul 21, 2015 1:43 PM - Aaron Mitchell: o/ Bam
Jul 21, 2015 1:43 PM - Aaron Mitchell: Finally got mine in and printing...
    Jul 21, 2015 1:43 PM - bamhm182: Nice, any issues?
    Jul 21, 2015 1:43 PM - Aaron Mitchell: Nope...smooth and solid
    Jul 21, 2015 1:44 PM - bamhm182: Sweeeeet
Jul 21, 2015 1:44 PM - Aaron Mitchell: As long as you don't get a bent rod like MK
    Jul 21, 2015 1:44 PM - bamhm182: *fingers crossed*
Jul 21, 2015 1:44 PM - Mike Kelly: it should not take 5 minutes to download 2 3.4mb files
Jul 21, 2015 1:45 PM - Stephen Capistron: glued in place nylok nuts
    Jul 21, 2015 1:45 PM - Mike Kelly: hmm
Jul 21, 2015 1:46 PM - Mike Kelly: man i wish i had more free time
Jul 21, 2015 1:46 PM - bamhm182: I've used super glue to glue nuts to printed parts before, it holds well
Jul 21, 2015 1:46 PM - bamhm182: Not the best method of keeping a nut in place, but it definitely works
    Jul 21, 2015 1:47 PM - daniel871: Just have a hole for installing a helicoil.
    Jul 21, 2015 1:48 PM - daniel871: Would that work?
Jul 21, 2015 1:48 PM - Mike Kelly: that plus a nylok was kinda my thinking
Jul 21, 2015 1:48 PM - jbigler1986: well i have no time to tinker right now. so........ i hate you all
Jul 21, 2015 1:49 PM - daniel871: Haha, Chrome immediately suggested helicoils on McMaster when I opened a new tab to look them up.
Jul 21, 2015 1:49 PM - Mike Kelly: google knows everythin
Jul 21, 2015 1:50 PM - daniel871: Now I'm going to see ads for Helicoils on Facebook.
    Jul 21, 2015 1:50 PM - daniel871: McMaster part #91732A948 should do the trick.

    Jul 21, 2015 1:50 PM - jbigler1986: facebook?
Jul 21, 2015 1:51 PM - daniel871: Not sure if this link will work, but here is the catalog page url I have. http://www.mcmaster.com/#helicoils/=y5ipef
Jul 21, 2015 1:51 PM - Mike Kelly: if you click part details it'll give you a hotlink
Jul 21, 2015 1:52 PM - bamhm182: Trying to decide what I want to do with this new raspberry pi I got
Jul 21, 2015 1:52 PM - daniel871: Only for the parts they have drawings for, MK.
Jul 21, 2015 1:52 PM - Mike Kelly: oh that doesn't have it
Jul 21, 2015 1:52 PM - daniel871: Shelf parts like helicoils just go to the catalog page.
    Jul 21, 2015 1:52 PM - Mike Kelly: that's stupid!
Jul 21, 2015 1:52 PM - bamhm182: So many choices, I think my top two right now are a car computer or some sort of emulator setup
Jul 21, 2015 1:52 PM - daniel871: Use it to OctoPrint your Robo, bam.
    Jul 21, 2015 1:53 PM - jbigler1986: no. it sucks for that
    Jul 21, 2015 1:53 PM - daniel871: :p
Jul 21, 2015 1:54 PM - bamhm182: What would be better for octoprint?
    Jul 21, 2015 1:55 PM - daniel871: BigRepOne.
    Jul 21, 2015 1:55 PM - daniel871: :p
Jul 21, 2015 1:56 PM - daniel871: JB will it make you feel any better if I get my dual bowden setup completed and a guide thread posted by next week?
Jul 21, 2015 1:56 PM - Mike Kelly: http://www.mcmaster.com/#94180a351/=y5irdt what if you just used one of these and had it use the plastic from the print as the lock
Jul 21, 2015 1:56 PM - daniel871: Kind of what I was getting at, but just picked a random helicoil for instance.
Jul 21, 2015 1:58 PM - daniel871: For something mechanical instead of needing to heat the materials to get it installed.
Jul 21, 2015 1:58 PM - daniel871: When we install them in UHMW at work it's pretty easy to do if the hole is drilled properly.
    Jul 21, 2015 1:58 PM - Mike Kelly: right, i just worry about heli-coils
Jul 21, 2015 1:58 PM - Mike Kelly: i like heat set so far
    Jul 21, 2015 1:59 PM - daniel871: I figure if a paper machine doesn't tear them out, the stresses of a 3d printer won't do it either.
Jul 21, 2015 1:59 PM - Mike Kelly: makes sense
Jul 21, 2015 2:00 PM - daniel871: Especially if you're going with an M6 or better in diameter and a good 10mm engagement.
    Jul 21, 2015 2:07 PM - donhuevo: I use M3 and M5 heatset nuts
    Jul 21, 2015 2:14 PM - Mike Kelly: i was thinking M4
Jul 21, 2015 2:16 PM - Stephen Capistron: get what you'd like in a BOM together and I can modify the hole / profile of what I posted earlier as needed
Jul 21, 2015 2:16 PM - Stephen Capistron: I'm going to go finish cutting the grass
    Jul 21, 2015 2:20 PM - bamhm182: steppers just arrived
Jul 21, 2015 2:24 PM - Mike Kelly: fingers crossed for you
    Jul 21, 2015 2:25 PM - bamhm182: they look pretty straight
Jul 21, 2015 2:27 PM - Mike Glass: don, did you see the glass carriage this morning?
Jul 21, 2015 2:30 PM - Mike Kelly: bam do what i did in my video
    Jul 21, 2015 2:35 PM - bamhm182: What video, MK?
    Jul 21, 2015 2:35 PM - bamhm182: What happened, jb?
    Jul 21, 2015 2:35 PM - Mike Kelly: https://www.dropbox.com/s/iawrtykdib7x4jo/00051.MTS?dl=0
    Jul 21, 2015 2:35 PM - jbigler1986: Long story
    Jul 21, 2015 2:36 PM - Mike Kelly: oh no :(
Jul 21, 2015 2:40 PM - bamhm182: Ended up just plugging the steppers into their spots and telling the robo to move them
Jul 21, 2015 2:40 PM - Mike Glass: wonder if she actually sent the texts now.
Jul 21, 2015 2:41 PM - bamhm182: When spinning, they do move a little bit
Jul 21, 2015 2:41 PM - bamhm182: How much, if any, movement would you say is acceptable?
Jul 21, 2015 2:41 PM - Mike Glass: something fishy for sure
Jul 21, 2015 2:41 PM - Mike Kelly: a little bit is ok
Jul 21, 2015 2:41 PM - Mike Kelly: so much that it moves the axis isn't
Jul 21, 2015 2:42 PM - Mike Glass: 3-4" is unacceptable, at least thats what she said
    Jul 21, 2015 2:42 PM - bamhm182: Haha
    Jul 21, 2015 2:42 PM - Mike Kelly: na like 1"
Jul 21, 2015 2:42 PM - Mike Kelly: i don't think the battlebots should be able to get thrown out of the arena
Jul 21, 2015 2:44 PM - daniel871: If the other bot is powerful enough to grab and toss it should be allowed.
Jul 21, 2015 2:44 PM - Mike Kelly: i dunno i feel like you should always be able to somehow manage back in
Jul 21, 2015 2:44 PM - Mike Kelly: like when they're against the screws they're against the wall
Jul 21, 2015 2:45 PM - Mike Kelly: not just some gap between the arena and the glass
Jul 21, 2015 2:45 PM - Mike Glass: what kind of king of the hill would that be then.
Jul 21, 2015 2:45 PM - Mike Kelly: it's about destruction not removing from the arena imo
Jul 21, 2015 2:47 PM - daniel871: What was the robot that had a hydraulic pincer claw from a jaws of life clamp on it?
Jul 21, 2015 2:47 PM - daniel871: That would bear down on and punch holes in the enemy bot until it was scrap?
Jul 21, 2015 2:48 PM - Mike Kelly: uh overhaul?
Jul 21, 2015 2:48 PM - daniel871: Also that drone with a 9mm glock on it should totally be entered.
    Jul 21, 2015 2:50 PM - Mike Kelly: haha
Jul 21, 2015 2:50 PM - Mike Kelly: don't think flight is allowed
    Jul 21, 2015 2:50 PM - daniel871: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=lZjf5iPQ7pY&ved=0CBwQtwIwAGoVChMIobKy45rtxgIVy6geCh1JTwYp&usg=AFQjCNEfjEtfv5N1kZNiK_Kr-l7bdXE4vQ&sig2=4kWtmUer-CTRuLCKEOA_3Q
Jul 21, 2015 2:54 PM - daniel871: Thats the paintball/airsoft version but the other is out there.
    Jul 21, 2015 2:54 PM - jbigler1986: Locksmith on the way
Jul 21, 2015 2:54 PM - jbigler1986: Although i did get the ok to get in by any means necessary
    Jul 21, 2015 2:54 PM - daniel871: Really hoping you don't find a suicide jb.
    Jul 21, 2015 2:55 PM - jbigler1986: Me too
Jul 21, 2015 2:56 PM - jbigler1986: First thing im checking is if her car is in the garage
Jul 21, 2015 2:56 PM - Mike Kelly: thoughts are with you jb
Jul 21, 2015 2:56 PM - daniel871: The only way the situation could get worse, really.
Jul 21, 2015 2:56 PM - Mike Glass: always enter the back door first
    Jul 21, 2015 2:57 PM - daniel871: Heyoo
Jul 21, 2015 2:57 PM - Seshan: yeah i think its kinda lame that they can get thrown out of the arena and thats it
    Jul 21, 2015 2:57 PM - daniel871: Have wedgebots taken over again?
Jul 21, 2015 2:58 PM - Mike Kelly: nope now it's all about spinning blades
    Jul 21, 2015 2:58 PM - jbigler1986: Thats what she said
Jul 21, 2015 2:58 PM - Seshan: no they put limitations on the wedges
    Jul 21, 2015 2:58 PM - daniel871: So Nightmare made a comeback?
    Jul 21, 2015 2:59 PM - daniel871: From the old show?
Jul 21, 2015 2:59 PM - Seshan: it was in it, but im pretty sure it lost
Jul 21, 2015 2:59 PM - daniel871: It was basically a tripod on wheels with a lawnmower motor and blade iirc
Jul 21, 2015 3:00 PM - Seshan: yeah they made the new blade out of titanium
    Jul 21, 2015 3:00 PM - daniel871: Lol
Jul 21, 2015 3:00 PM - Seshan: if you search "tested" on youtube they did interviews with all the bots
Jul 21, 2015 3:00 PM - daniel871: Make some poor rolling bot explode.
Jul 21, 2015 3:00 PM - Seshan: gets more detail about the bots then you get on the show
    Jul 21, 2015 3:01 PM - Seshan:
Jul 21, 2015 3:02 PM - Seshan: exploding bot flung across the arena
    Jul 21, 2015 3:06 PM - jbigler1986: The flip ones are boring
Jul 21, 2015 3:06 PM - Stephen Capistron: I want junkyard wars to come back
    Jul 21, 2015 3:07 PM - Seshan: i loved that show
    Jul 21, 2015 3:07 PM - Mike Kelly: same
    Jul 21, 2015 3:07 PM - jbigler1986: Yes
Jul 21, 2015 3:07 PM - Mike Kelly: what limitations did they put on wedges?
Jul 21, 2015 3:08 PM - jbigler1986: Should not be allowed to be the main weapon
    Jul 21, 2015 3:10 PM - Mike Glass: o_O
Jul 21, 2015 3:11 PM - Mike Kelly: wow the tombstone vs witchdoctor battle went way better than i expected
Jul 21, 2015 3:11 PM - Seshan: it amazes me how much power witchdoctor had

    Jul 21, 2015 3:12 PM - Seshan:
Jul 21, 2015 3:12 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah witchdoctor was really surprising
Jul 21, 2015 3:12 PM - Mike Kelly: that design is pretty clever
Jul 21, 2015 3:13 PM - Seshan: if it didnt get flipped it would of won
    Jul 21, 2015 3:13 PM - Mike Kelly: absolutely
Jul 21, 2015 3:13 PM - Mike Kelly: pretty sad it ended that way
Jul 21, 2015 3:14 PM - Mike Glass: carbide tipped weapons?
Jul 21, 2015 3:16 PM - Mike Kelly: too brittle
    Jul 21, 2015 3:16 PM - jbigler1986: Gold. Always gold
Jul 21, 2015 3:16 PM - Stephen Capistron: too soft
    Jul 21, 2015 3:17 PM - jbigler1986: Never heard that before
Jul 21, 2015 3:18 PM - donhuevo: how do you suppose the drone with the handgun would have held up?
    Jul 21, 2015 3:18 PM - jbigler1986: Detroyed
Jul 21, 2015 3:19 PM - Mike Glass: nobody could get to it
Jul 21, 2015 3:19 PM - donhuevo: death from above
Jul 21, 2015 3:19 PM - jbigler1986: It couldnt get at the right angle to shoot them either
Jul 21, 2015 3:19 PM - Stephen Capistron: is a 9mm really going to do much to the other bots?
Jul 21, 2015 3:19 PM - Mike Glass: why not?
Jul 21, 2015 3:19 PM - Stephen Capistron: they could just angle the gun down
Jul 21, 2015 3:20 PM - Seshan: bronco would just flip its self in the air and knock it out of the arena XD
    Jul 21, 2015 3:20 PM - jbigler1986: If they added that yes
Jul 21, 2015 3:20 PM - Mike Glass: added it , those drones can do flips
Jul 21, 2015 3:21 PM - bamhm182: I think I should be good as far as my new steppers go
Jul 21, 2015 3:21 PM - Mike Glass: lucky bass turd
Jul 21, 2015 3:22 PM - bamhm182: Without the smooth rods/carriage connected, it moves more than I would like it to, but with those on there, it looks fine
Jul 21, 2015 3:22 PM - bamhm182: the horizontal smooth rods, not the vertical ones
Jul 21, 2015 3:23 PM - Mike Glass: IM going to replace the smooth rod holders as well, I can see stress cracks on them
Jul 21, 2015 3:24 PM - jbigler1986: What is the issue with these rods?
Jul 21, 2015 3:24 PM - Mike Glass: rods or lead screws?
    Jul 21, 2015 3:24 PM - jbigler1986: Errrr. Lead screws
Jul 21, 2015 3:24 PM - Stephen Capistron: They are packaged poorly
Jul 21, 2015 3:24 PM - Mike Kelly: wow overhaul was not doing well but finished strong
Jul 21, 2015 3:25 PM - Stephen Capistron: And a lot of them are bent right down by the motor
Jul 21, 2015 3:25 PM - Mike Glass: like taking a poop in empty 18 pack and shipping it off with a piece of toilet paper..lol
Jul 21, 2015 3:25 PM - Stephen Capistron: I don't remember how ours came in
Jul 21, 2015 3:26 PM - jbigler1986: Wtf has been up with them. They shouldnt let harry do anything
Jul 21, 2015 3:26 PM - jbigler1986: In a envelope package inside a box full of bubble things
Jul 21, 2015 3:27 PM - Seshan: im buying some from china

Jul 21, 2015 3:27 PM - Seshan: decided i might as well add some height
Jul 21, 2015 3:27 PM - Mike Glass: they should of cut out the foam that they got them in and taped them up with some cardboard.
Jul 21, 2015 3:28 PM - Printed Solid: JD, yours are messed up? mine just arrived, now I'm nervous to open.
Jul 21, 2015 3:28 PM - Stephen Capistron: Omc-stepperonline or robotdigg. Shipping from them is mucho dinero though
    Jul 21, 2015 3:28 PM - Mike Kelly: but didn't matter
Jul 21, 2015 3:28 PM - Stephen Capistron: Jb and I have sainsmart ones
Jul 21, 2015 3:28 PM - Seshan: got mine from aliexpress, thats with shipping
Jul 21, 2015 3:29 PM - Mike Kelly: 450mm won't fit with a lid on, but i think seshan is running without a lid right?
Jul 21, 2015 3:29 PM - Stephen Capistron: Toy did that and got ones with HfnC
Jul 21, 2015 3:29 PM - Stephen Capistron: Buyer beware
Jul 21, 2015 3:30 PM - Mike Kelly: he bought his on ebay iirc

Jul 21, 2015 3:31 PM - Stephen Capistron: You'd really have to ask him though. My memory is shit
    Jul 21, 2015 3:31 PM - Seshan: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/2Set...0mm-M8-Z-axis-3D-Printer-CNC/32217928693.html

    Jul 21, 2015 3:34 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah i showed jerry
Jul 21, 2015 3:35 PM - Stephen Capistron: Those look alright. If you have trouble hooking them up Jb and I pulled the magnets and rods out of the assemblies we got and put them into the old motor body. Just something to keep in mind as you set them up
Jul 21, 2015 3:38 PM - Mike Kelly: wow that icewave match was crazy
Jul 21, 2015 3:38 PM - Mike Kelly: did not see it playing out like that

    Jul 21, 2015 3:42 PM - Seshan: no?
Jul 21, 2015 3:49 PM - Stephen Capistron: My wife wants to go for a run together tonight, but she told me this after I cut the grass
Jul 21, 2015 3:50 PM - Printed Solid: so, she wants to win.
Jul 21, 2015 3:50 PM - bamhm182: MK, mine are SLIGHTLY bent, but I just saw your video. It just showed up as an image last time. Mine are NOWHERE near as bent as yours
Jul 21, 2015 3:50 PM - Stephen Capistron: And I thought it would be a good idea to wear a ruck sack while cutting the grass
Jul 21, 2015 3:50 PM - Printed Solid: do people have track of date codes? I just checked mine. two different date codes. One bent a tiny bit. the other perfectly straight.
Jul 21, 2015 3:50 PM - bamhm182: Anyways, swapped the new motors and stepper drivers in, I'm running late to go have dinner with some friends. I'll be back in a bit and we'll see how all this plays out
Jul 21, 2015 3:55 PM - daniel871: Mine came in good and straight with clean threads and the Z clips/stops/whatever included.
    Jul 21, 2015 3:55 PM - daniel871: Sigh of relief for me.
Jul 21, 2015 3:56 PM - daniel871: I'll swap them out this weekend and just keep printing the things I've already generated programs for in the meantime.
Jul 21, 2015 4:03 PM - Printed Solid: is 20150626 the date code on the other bad motors as well?
Jul 21, 2015 4:10 PM - daniel871: Welp, I'm going to have to disassemble the volcano to clean out the filament, it broke off inside the PTFE when I tried to extract it after heating the thing up.
Jul 21, 2015 4:11 PM - daniel871: I really hate that I have to completely dismantle it to remove filament that strips out at the hobbed gear.
Jul 21, 2015 4:13 PM - Mike Kelly: i wonder if they'll sell the quick release
Jul 21, 2015 4:13 PM - Mike Kelly: you could probably just print one as well
Jul 21, 2015 4:14 PM - Mike Glass: 20150627 is my bad one, it is the longer cable one MK
    Jul 21, 2015 4:14 PM - Mike Kelly: https://www.dropbox.com/s/nue66uwppx1vly9/Hexagon Quick Release.STL?dl=0

Jul 21, 2015 4:57 PM - donhuevo: hope it doesn't sound like a whoopee cushion
Jul 21, 2015 4:57 PM - Mike Glass: although I could of just put one of the blower fans on it
Jul 21, 2015 4:58 PM - Mike Glass: Mike did you see the mount I linked
Jul 21, 2015 4:59 PM - Stephen Capistron: how easy is it to push the x axis down with the new rods?

Jul 21, 2015 5:32 PM - donhuevo: hopefully I measured the answering machine right. printing a wall mount now
    Jul 21, 2015 5:42 PM - jbigler1986: Im here
Jul 21, 2015 5:46 PM - daniel871: Well I'm taking a break from the Robo tonight. I'm using the carriage fan mount that holds the hotend fan separate from the rest of the volcano, so when I take the actual nozzle/heater block/heat break out of the carriage it has to be cold to handle it and I don't want to break the heat break trying to take it apart.
Jul 21, 2015 5:48 PM - donhuevo: I make sure the nozzle is tight against the heat break then remove the heatsink first. then the nozzle and the heat break last
    Jul 21, 2015 5:51 PM - daniel871: I'm just running on a short fuse this evening because of general stress/hormone issues/etc.
    Jul 21, 2015 5:52 PM - daniel871: I'm going to play a violent video game or something.
    Jul 21, 2015 5:52 PM - donhuevo: sorry if I offended
Jul 21, 2015 5:53 PM - daniel871: Nah. I'm fine there, I just don't want to fight with the stupid screws that hold it in place (the screwdriver tip I have that fits them is close to stripping out).
    Jul 21, 2015 5:53 PM - daniel871: At least, not tonight.
    Jul 21, 2015 5:55 PM - donhuevo: gotcha
Jul 21, 2015 5:59 PM - Mike Glass: don you never answered my question, did you see the glass model of the carriage.

    Jul 21, 2015 6:01 PM - donhuevo: that's hot!
Jul 21, 2015 6:02 PM - Mike Glass: actually clear abs and use the lights to change the color
Jul 21, 2015 6:02 PM - donhuevo: your going to stick lights up its ass?
Jul 21, 2015 6:03 PM - Mike Glass: lol, I want to put headlights on it
    Jul 21, 2015 6:03 PM - donhuevo: you'd almost have to
Jul 21, 2015 6:15 PM - Mike Glass: s3d lies so bad about time..
Jul 21, 2015 6:16 PM - donhuevo: the lower you go with your acceleration number the dumber the estimate
Jul 21, 2015 6:17 PM - Mike Glass: I have never touch my accelerator
Jul 21, 2015 6:17 PM - Mike Glass: what should I be at
Jul 21, 2015 6:19 PM - donhuevo: I've been happy with my xy acceleration at 800. I've increased my speed numbers to help compensate
Jul 21, 2015 6:19 PM - donhuevo: it makes for smooth and creamy direction changes
Jul 21, 2015 6:19 PM - donhuevo: helps fight ringing too
Jul 21, 2015 6:20 PM - donhuevo: ooh and I've actually decreased my external perimeter speed
Jul 21, 2015 6:21 PM - donhuevo: dict... first thoughts... [IMG]
Jul 21, 2015 6:25 PM - Mike Glass: I see no dict holes
Jul 21, 2015 6:25 PM - donhuevo: not yet. just blocking it in to see how it will fit
Jul 21, 2015 6:25 PM - donhuevo: shaping, hollowing and venting to follow
Jul 21, 2015 6:26 PM - Mike Glass: curious to see how much the fans will produce
Jul 21, 2015 6:26 PM - donhuevo: I'm thinking that the closer you are to where you need it, the less you'll need of it
Jul 21, 2015 6:26 PM - bamhm182: So you're planning on putting some holes vented downward on the red bit there?
Jul 21, 2015 6:27 PM - donhuevo: down and outward away from the nozzle
    Jul 21, 2015 6:27 PM - bamhm182: Okay, could be cool
Jul 21, 2015 6:27 PM - bamhm182: Any idea what the CFM of the blower you're going to be using is?
Jul 21, 2015 6:28 PM - Mike Glass: that will work with the carriage I have just shorten it and boom
    Jul 21, 2015 6:29 PM - donhuevo: looks like 4.21cfm
    Jul 21, 2015 6:34 PM - donhuevo: another page I found claims 15-30cfm
    Jul 21, 2015 6:34 PM - donhuevo: http://www.amazon.com/Black-Brushle...8&qid=1437528949&sr=8-4&keywords=5015+12v+fan

Jul 21, 2015 6:38 PM - donhuevo: I like that. maybe you could adapt that to squinty's head
Jul 21, 2015 6:38 PM - Mike Glass: [IMG]sponge bob helps getting parts off the bed super fast.
Jul 21, 2015 6:39 PM - Mike Glass: you think on top of squinty?
Jul 21, 2015 6:39 PM - donhuevo: I think that face makes sense with a bunch of sharpee's sticking out of his melon
Jul 21, 2015 6:40 PM - Mike Glass: like inside then?
Jul 21, 2015 6:40 PM - Mike Glass: that would be cool
Jul 21, 2015 6:40 PM - Mike Glass: it has a ring in the middle so you could still put stuff in there.
Jul 21, 2015 6:41 PM - donhuevo: still show the brim so the sharpee's seem to be stuck in his brain
Jul 21, 2015 6:41 PM - Mike Glass: It would be rather large but ok, I will adapt..lol
Jul 21, 2015 6:41 PM - Stephen Capistron: Print with hex infill and just size it right to hold the sharpies
Jul 21, 2015 6:42 PM - donhuevo: or a cap that just sits in the top of squinty
Jul 21, 2015 6:42 PM - Mike Glass: yea let me play with that.
Jul 21, 2015 6:42 PM - donhuevo: that way his neck could be a secret hiding place for the special paper clips
Jul 21, 2015 6:43 PM - donhuevo: or the bag of weed. I'm not judging
Jul 21, 2015 6:43 PM - Mike Glass: lol, ok dinner time for me bbl
Jul 21, 2015 6:44 PM - Stephen Capistron: You're the one who works for a drug dealer
    Jul 21, 2015 6:44 PM - donhuevo: a small chain of pharmacies
    Jul 21, 2015 6:44 PM - donhuevo: so, yes
    Jul 21, 2015 6:46 PM - jbigler1986: What up

Jul 21, 2015 6:46 PM - Stephen Capistron: Find your stuff?
    Jul 21, 2015 6:46 PM - jbigler1986: Ha. No
    Jul 21, 2015 6:46 PM - jbigler1986: Been house hunting
    Jul 21, 2015 6:47 PM - donhuevo: for her?
Jul 21, 2015 6:47 PM - donhuevo: let her find her own house
Jul 21, 2015 6:47 PM - donhuevo: you already have one
Jul 21, 2015 6:58 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah but she can have it. I will find a better one with my own workshop
Jul 21, 2015 6:59 PM - donhuevo: if she wants it, that's leverage in your pocket
    Jul 21, 2015 7:00 PM - jbigler1986: About to setup a gofundme
    Jul 21, 2015 7:00 PM - donhuevo: cool
    Jul 21, 2015 7:07 PM - jbigler1986: JB's Hobby Fund?
    Jul 21, 2015 7:09 PM - donhuevo: I like it
Jul 21, 2015 7:10 PM - bamhm182: Forgot that new stepper drivers with 1/32 microsteps would need a firmware change. Tried printing a calibration pyramid and it did the auto level on a small corner of the bed. >_<
Jul 21, 2015 7:11 PM - Stephen Capistron: I'd run the go fund me by the lawyer, might be asked to split the funds
    Jul 21, 2015 7:12 PM - bamhm182: That's a good point that SC brings up
    Jul 21, 2015 7:16 PM - jbigler1986: gofundme.com/zxxck8
Jul 21, 2015 7:17 PM - donhuevo: alrighty... I'm done for the night. As a parting gift, I'm gonna leave you with the musical stylings of Jackie & Larry. enjoy...
Jul 21, 2015 7:17 PM - donhuevo: if you can stand it, they have quite the catalog
    Jul 21, 2015 7:19 PM - jbigler1986: Lol
Jul 21, 2015 7:22 PM - jbigler1986: I expect to have 7k on gofundme by the morning. Lol
Jul 21, 2015 7:22 PM - Mike Glass: omg those to are true hicks
    Jul 21, 2015 7:23 PM - bamhm182: That's great, don. Haha
Jul 21, 2015 7:23 PM - bamhm182: Anyone have the most recent r1 firmware by chance?
Jul 21, 2015 7:24 PM - Mike Glass: its on the robo site bam
    Jul 21, 2015 7:24 PM - Mike Glass: 3rd link down
    Jul 21, 2015 7:26 PM - bamhm182: On their main site?
    Jul 21, 2015 7:29 PM - Mike Glass: yep
    Jul 21, 2015 7:30 PM - jbigler1986: Chill time. Finally
    Jul 21, 2015 7:31 PM - jbigler1986: gofundme.com/zxxck8 JB's Hobby Fund. Need another printer.
    Jul 21, 2015 7:31 PM - bamhm182: What's up with your current printer, jb?
Jul 21, 2015 7:32 PM - bamhm182: Also, as SC pointed out, might want to ask the lawyer about gofundme first as she might be able to get half of it
Jul 21, 2015 7:32 PM - jbigler1986: Already talked to him about it today
Jul 21, 2015 7:33 PM - bamhm182: Alright, cool. Also, just read the description

Jul 21, 2015 7:53 PM - jbigler1986: Bam. Did you get the lead screws?
    Jul 21, 2015 7:59 PM - bamhm182: lead screws?
    Jul 21, 2015 7:59 PM - bamhm182: The z-axis upgrade?
    Jul 21, 2015 8:00 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah
    Jul 21, 2015 8:01 PM - bamhm182: Yeah
Jul 21, 2015 8:01 PM - bamhm182: Haven't printed anything out with them yet though
    Jul 21, 2015 8:02 PM - jbigler1986: So urs were good
Jul 21, 2015 8:02 PM - bamhm182: I also swapped out the stepper drivers for my xyz so they match my extruders. Working on getting all that sorted now
    Jul 21, 2015 8:02 PM - bamhm182: They looked alright
Jul 21, 2015 8:02 PM - bamhm182: The one with the longer cable was a little off, but I don't think it's off enough to matter
Jul 21, 2015 8:03 PM - bamhm182: When I moved it like in MK's video, I could barely notice a little wobble. I looked it up to the printer and had it move it and I could notice it a bit more
Jul 21, 2015 8:04 PM - bamhm182: When I swaped them, I didn't put back on the carriage and the carriage smooth rods at first, but I had everything else in place. I told the printer to move the z-axis up and down and it wobbled a fair bit, but when I put the carriage back on, it seemed like it would be fine
Jul 21, 2015 8:05 PM - bamhm182: I do agree with the others in that the packaging was terrible
Jul 21, 2015 8:05 PM - jbigler1986: Man i hope that they arent sending out these teribble ones to the masses
Jul 21, 2015 8:07 PM - bamhm182: I feel like what's going on here is that they got a whole bunch of them, but didn't plan too hard on shipping the upgrade kits, so when they started doing that, they just kinda tossed them in some boxes with some spare bubble wrap and sent them on their way.
Jul 21, 2015 8:07 PM - bamhm182: If new Robos are coming out with these, I feel like/hope that they're shipped from the main supplier a bit better
Jul 21, 2015 8:10 PM - bamhm182: I need to design something that can be printed to easily calibrate the x/y steps.
Jul 21, 2015 8:17 PM - bamhm182: Actually, I just need to hurry up and swap over to MK's modular carriage, then print out a plate for it that can hold a pen. Seems like that would make calibrating the x/y pretty easy
    Jul 21, 2015 8:18 PM - donhuevo: 10mm cube?
    Jul 21, 2015 8:18 PM - bamhm182: I mean sure, that's one way to do it. :p
    Jul 21, 2015 8:19 PM - Mike Glass: Pen?
    Jul 21, 2015 8:20 PM - bamhm182: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:681916
Jul 21, 2015 8:21 PM - bamhm182: MK made that thing, has plates you can easily swap in/out. I was talking a while back about how I wanted to build a plate for it that you could attach a pen or marker to
Jul 21, 2015 8:21 PM - bamhm182: Wanted to mimic your CNC, haha
    Jul 21, 2015 8:21 PM - Mike Glass: just use mine http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:805353
    Jul 21, 2015 8:23 PM - bamhm182: That'll only work until I go bowden though
Jul 21, 2015 8:24 PM - bamhm182: Nothing to bolt it on to afterwards
Jul 21, 2015 8:24 PM - jbigler1986: Don i thought you were going to bed
Jul 21, 2015 8:25 PM - Mike Glass: my new bowden will mount one also after its done.
    Jul 21, 2015 8:25 PM - jbigler1986: Also thanks to whoever donated
    Jul 21, 2015 8:25 PM - jbigler1986: MG bowden? Say what
    Jul 21, 2015 8:26 PM - Mike Glass: [IMG]
Jul 21, 2015 8:26 PM - jbigler1986: I will post on the forum tomorrow when i get to work. As i have no computer right now.
Jul 21, 2015 8:27 PM - jbigler1986: Would be awesome if it looked like that after you printed it
Jul 21, 2015 8:27 PM - Mike Glass: this is off of dons design, slightly modified
Jul 21, 2015 8:27 PM - Mike Glass: clear abs with the lights that don is using
Jul 21, 2015 8:28 PM - jbigler1986: Hmmm. Yes. Man i was so damn close to dual
Jul 21, 2015 8:29 PM - bamhm182: So for some reason, my printer is no longer leveling correctly...
    Jul 21, 2015 8:30 PM - bamhm182: Actually, I bet it's my z steps
Jul 21, 2015 8:33 PM - bamhm182: So something I've been wondering about all night... I'm pretty sure that most of us at one time or another have had their carriage "climb" their filament after the filament has gotten bound up
    Jul 21, 2015 8:34 PM - jbigler1986: Yep
Jul 21, 2015 8:34 PM - bamhm182: The new clamps that come with the z-axis upgrade prevent your carriage from rising up past just far enough to disengage the switches. I wonder what will happen now *pictures robo 3d lifted into the air and dangling from the filament*
Jul 21, 2015 8:35 PM - jbigler1986: Snapped 3 extruder wires and thermistor wires. Also bent the hell out of the hex heatbreak
Jul 21, 2015 8:36 PM - Mike Glass: I like my new robo feet.
    Jul 21, 2015 8:36 PM - bamhm182: Pics?
    Jul 21, 2015 8:36 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah i want to print them
    Jul 21, 2015 8:37 PM - bamhm182: I printed some giant ones, haha
    Jul 21, 2015 8:37 PM - jbigler1986: So i can mount the lcd too
Jul 21, 2015 8:37 PM - Mike Glass: mk is working on the lcd part, but said these would work.
    Jul 21, 2015 8:37 PM - bamhm182: [IMG]
    Jul 21, 2015 8:37 PM - Mike Glass: [IMG]
Jul 21, 2015 8:38 PM - Mike Glass: mk has these in 7.5,10,15,20 mm sizes
    Jul 21, 2015 8:40 PM - jbigler1986: I will print them within 2 months
    Jul 21, 2015 8:41 PM - bamhm182: sweet, my feet are 60mm
Jul 21, 2015 8:41 PM - bamhm182: I still need to rig up something to hold on that giant fan
    Jul 21, 2015 8:43 PM - jbigler1986: Design and print
Jul 21, 2015 8:43 PM - Mike Glass: printing this right now. [IMG]
Jul 21, 2015 8:43 PM - Mike Glass: in the smoke justpla
    Jul 21, 2015 8:43 PM - bamhm182: Looks cool
    Jul 21, 2015 8:44 PM - Mike Glass: 7 hour print
Jul 21, 2015 8:45 PM - Mike Glass: see if s3d acutally will do spiral mode, I doubt it but lets try again
Jul 21, 2015 8:47 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah it never sliced right for me
    Jul 21, 2015 8:48 PM - Mike Kelly: hey\
    Jul 21, 2015 8:49 PM - jbigler1986: Hey
Jul 21, 2015 8:49 PM - Mike Kelly: how are things on this end
    Jul 21, 2015 8:49 PM - jbigler1986: gofundme.com/zxxck8 bro
    Jul 21, 2015 8:50 PM - jbigler1986: Lol. Not to horrible.
    Jul 21, 2015 8:50 PM - jbigler1986: How about you
Jul 21, 2015 8:50 PM - jbigler1986: Tell Braydon to send me a new printer.
Jul 21, 2015 8:51 PM - Mike Kelly: lol not too bad just got home from a night out with the employee i hired that got let go
Jul 21, 2015 8:53 PM - jbigler1986: How long ago did they get let go
Jul 21, 2015 8:54 PM - Mike Kelly: he was let go the thursday before last and is using his remaining time off for the remainder of the week
Jul 21, 2015 8:55 PM - Mike Kelly: my presidents probably the only one who uses a 2 week notice the same way as being let go

Jul 21, 2015 9:15 PM - Mike Glass: Hey mike
    Jul 21, 2015 9:20 PM - donhuevo: just 'cause I can...
Jul 21, 2015 9:39 PM - Mike Glass: just wrong
Jul 21, 2015 9:41 PM - bamhm182: Man, I hate calibrating stepper drivers so much...
Jul 21, 2015 9:56 PM - bamhm182: Ugh, screw it. I'm done trying to figure this out for tonight
Jul 21, 2015 10:30 PM - Harry: Hey all- for those of you that received your lead screw upgrade kits it looks like a few people received bent lead screws. If you send me a message I'll make sure you're taken care of. Somehow this first batch missed the QC step when importing to our inventory and bend lead screws weren't detected.
Jul 22, 2015 4:21 AM - Bill Monroe: good morning
Jul 22, 2015 4:22 AM - Aaron Mitchell: Morning, Bill...
    Jul 22, 2015 4:34 AM - Bill Monroe: what's the latest?
Jul 22, 2015 4:40 AM - Aaron Mitchell: Not much...getting ready to head in to work...
Jul 22, 2015 4:40 AM - Aaron Mitchell: Got my lead screws installed and everything is working fine
    Jul 22, 2015 4:40 AM - Bill Monroe: nice!
Jul 22, 2015 4:41 AM - Aaron Mitchell: Did 4-5 prints yesterday and they are solid and smooth...
Jul 22, 2015 4:41 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, Mine just finished a 9 hour print that's flawless..
Jul 22, 2015 4:42 AM - Aaron Mitchell: very nice!
Jul 22, 2015 4:42 AM - Bill Monroe: lots of folx at work are about to pull the trigger
    Jul 22, 2015 4:45 AM - Aaron Mitchell: That doesn't sound good...
Jul 22, 2015 4:47 AM - Aaron Mitchell: I have to head out myself...see you this afternoon if you are on
Jul 22, 2015 4:47 AM - Bill Monroe: heh it's good.. they're all starting to see the value of having their own printer
Jul 22, 2015 4:47 AM - Bill Monroe: OK Aaron, take care
Jul 22, 2015 4:55 AM - Printed Solid: Nice Aaron! Did you check to see if they were straight prior to install? And can you check the date code on the motors?
    Jul 22, 2015 5:05 AM - WheresWaldo: Morning everyone.
    Jul 22, 2015 5:05 AM - Bill Monroe: waldo
    Jul 22, 2015 5:06 AM - WheresWaldo: What's new?
Jul 22, 2015 5:07 AM - Bill Monroe: Same ol Same ol
Jul 22, 2015 5:08 AM - WheresWaldo: I was looking over the forum and I noticed a noob post about the validity of owning a second 3D printer.
Jul 22, 2015 5:08 AM - Bill Monroe: saw that..
Jul 22, 2015 5:09 AM - WheresWaldo: Been thinking about this a lot, but Robo wouldn't be my choice for #2
Jul 22, 2015 5:10 AM - WheresWaldo: Mine is working as expected, but I am leaning toward something similar to Ultimaker, likely with dual extruders.
Jul 22, 2015 5:10 AM - Bill Monroe: I think it's individual, I dont have any need for a second printer that's identical
Jul 22, 2015 5:10 AM - WheresWaldo: Maybe in line with the HercuLien
    Jul 22, 2015 5:10 AM - Bill Monroe: but I do have 2 others :)
Jul 22, 2015 5:11 AM - WheresWaldo: Big build platform, faster and with something like 2 E3D Volcanos, could be a great build machine for large prints.
Jul 22, 2015 5:12 AM - WheresWaldo: So Bill, where did you go with the other two?
Jul 22, 2015 5:12 AM - Bill Monroe: just depends on what you need
Jul 22, 2015 5:13 AM - Bill Monroe: one is commercial, a Stratasys. The other I made, strictly for ABS
Jul 22, 2015 5:13 AM - Bill Monroe: making another one now, A dual X-Carriage
Jul 22, 2015 5:13 AM - WheresWaldo: Is the Stratasys also FDM?
    Jul 22, 2015 5:14 AM - Bill Monroe: ya.. it's a Fortus 380c setup for Polycarbonate
Jul 22, 2015 5:16 AM - WheresWaldo: Personally I would love to have a Laser Sintering machine, I do a fair amount on Shapeways, but would love to cut them out of the picture. Not likely since it's only chump change by most standards.
Jul 22, 2015 5:17 AM - Bill Monroe: that laser is a hard hurdle to overcome, and if you've never used a powder machine, you're in for some hassle
Jul 22, 2015 5:18 AM - WheresWaldo: Not likely in the foreseeable future. Don't have space or money for it at this point in time.
Jul 22, 2015 5:18 AM - Bill Monroe: Ive got to make a curcuit board cutters next, but after that I'd like to pursue SLA
Jul 22, 2015 5:18 AM - WheresWaldo: Unless I can sell my carbon fiber Tandem!
    Jul 22, 2015 5:21 AM - Bill Monroe: [IMG]
Jul 22, 2015 5:22 AM - WheresWaldo: Pretty, what is it?
Jul 22, 2015 5:23 AM - Bill Monroe: it's part of a measuring fixture.. mounts an adjuster and a dial indicator
    Jul 22, 2015 5:24 AM - WheresWaldo: Do you use Simplify3D?
    Jul 22, 2015 5:25 AM - Bill Monroe: yes
Jul 22, 2015 5:25 AM - Bill Monroe: i dont even have Cura on my machine anymore :)
Jul 22, 2015 5:26 AM - WheresWaldo: Still haven't made the jump, using Slic3r, might try out the new version of Cura once Marquis has his tutorial up. But eventually I will move to S3D.
Jul 22, 2015 5:27 AM - WheresWaldo: And if I need supports, believe it or not, been using MeshMixer from Autodesk.
Jul 22, 2015 5:27 AM - Bill Monroe: im unfamiliar.. i dropped anything to do with Autocrud in 1995 :)
Jul 22, 2015 5:28 AM - Mike Glass: is that gold bill, morning
Jul 22, 2015 5:28 AM - Bill Monroe: i generally try to design with an eye on not needing supports
Jul 22, 2015 5:28 AM - Bill Monroe: MG! yes, it's Hatchbox Gold
Jul 22, 2015 5:28 AM - Mike Glass: looks nice
Jul 22, 2015 5:28 AM - WheresWaldo: I am not a big fan either, but Fusion360 was much easier to learn than some of the other CAD/3D modeling software out there.
Jul 22, 2015 5:29 AM - Mike Glass: my project from last night. [IMG]
Jul 22, 2015 5:29 AM - Bill Monroe: i'm sure it is, but I started using Solidworks the day is was first introduced as it was a perfect fit for my needs at the time, and havnt used anything else since
Jul 22, 2015 5:30 AM - WheresWaldo: Plus a lifetime ago I had a lot of GenericCAD experience, which is a lot like Autocad.
    Jul 22, 2015 5:30 AM - Bill Monroe: PLA?
Jul 22, 2015 5:30 AM - Mike Glass: smoke pla
Jul 22, 2015 5:30 AM - Bill Monroe: wont the heat from the bulb hurt it?
Jul 22, 2015 5:30 AM - Mike Glass: led bulb
Jul 22, 2015 5:30 AM - WheresWaldo: Morning MG, nice looking lampshade.
Jul 22, 2015 5:30 AM - Bill Monroe: ah! nice
Jul 22, 2015 5:31 AM - Mike Glass: that is just to see the light, not meant for that fixture
    Jul 22, 2015 5:31 AM - jbigler1986: morning
Jul 22, 2015 5:31 AM - Bill Monroe: 2.0 has started making glass shades again
Jul 22, 2015 5:31 AM - Bill Monroe: jb! how are you doing?
Jul 22, 2015 5:31 AM - Mike Glass: Morning JB
    Jul 22, 2015 5:32 AM - WheresWaldo: Morning JB
    Jul 22, 2015 5:32 AM - jbigler1986: http://www.gofundme.com/zxxck8
Jul 22, 2015 5:33 AM - Mike Glass: Hey Waldo, thanks it was a 6 hour print, last one before i change to the lead screws.
Jul 22, 2015 5:39 AM - Mike Glass: Bill are talking about stained glass shades?
    Jul 22, 2015 5:39 AM - Bill Monroe: yes
Jul 22, 2015 5:43 AM - Bill Monroe: I've been instructed to make her a bigger mold
Jul 22, 2015 5:44 AM - Mike Glass: That what they all say
    Jul 22, 2015 5:44 AM - Bill Monroe: :)
    Jul 22, 2015 5:45 AM - Mike Glass: A mold of what.lol
Jul 22, 2015 5:46 AM - Bill Monroe: it's like a plaster bowl. she lays the glass inside it to form the shade
Jul 22, 2015 5:47 AM - Bill Monroe: she was doing nightstand-sized shades before.. now she feel confident enough to go for swags and outdoor lamp post stuff
Jul 22, 2015 5:47 AM - Mike Glass: Neat, wondered how they did that.
Jul 22, 2015 5:47 AM - Bill Monroe: heh, ya, it's not rocket science
Jul 22, 2015 5:48 AM - Bill Monroe: but the art and color choices are where the rubber hits the road
Jul 22, 2015 5:49 AM - Mike Glass: Does she do glass fusing also?
Jul 22, 2015 5:50 AM - Bill Monroe: no, she likes the light behind the glass.. I guess fusing is more for bowls and such
Jul 22, 2015 5:51 AM - Bill Monroe: it's my fault really, I told her I thought it would be nice to replace all the ordinary lamp post lights on our street with some one-off glass ones.. that got her motor going
Jul 22, 2015 5:51 AM - Mike Glass: Some use it to make unique glasses, but a kiln is required.
Jul 22, 2015 5:52 AM - Bill Monroe: we have acouple of kilns, more for pots though.. the glass-purpose ones are like coffins

    Jul 22, 2015 7:08 AM - donhuevo: that's a good question
Jul 22, 2015 7:09 AM - daniel871: Mainly wondering if you would have the support do thick, low-res support layers and leave the primary extruder to build the fine layers up in between the support material runs or if that would mess the slicer up something royal.
Jul 22, 2015 7:12 AM - donhuevo: I never crawled far enough into that rabbit hole to know
Jul 22, 2015 7:14 AM - jbigler1986: Damn bill. those parts look awesome
Jul 22, 2015 7:15 AM - jbigler1986: daniel that is a good question. I would think you should be able to since you also have to have temperature changes for support material .
    Jul 22, 2015 7:16 AM - jbigler1986: http://community.robo3d.com/index.p...rst-one-got-taken-by-soon-to-be-ex-wife.6323/
Jul 22, 2015 7:20 AM - jbigler1986: I should go to frys and and take a picture next to a robo. lol
    Jul 22, 2015 7:21 AM - donhuevo: lol
    Jul 22, 2015 7:21 AM - donhuevo: so I woke up to a bird's nest this morning
    Jul 22, 2015 7:21 AM - jbigler1986: oh no
Jul 22, 2015 7:22 AM - donhuevo: no biggie, the ptfe came out of it's connector at the extruder
Jul 22, 2015 7:24 AM - donhuevo: as much as I like the flush look of it, it has no depth. there's hardly any tube down in it. [IMG]
Jul 22, 2015 7:25 AM - jbigler1986: hmmm. at least you know the cause of the fail. it sucks when you can't figure it out
    Jul 22, 2015 7:25 AM - daniel871: That's an interesting looking extruder body.
Jul 22, 2015 7:26 AM - donhuevo: I added a linkage to it so that half the lever travel moves the idler bearing away from the filament and the other half of the travel compresses the spring
    Jul 22, 2015 7:28 AM - Mike Kelly: morning
    Jul 22, 2015 7:29 AM - jbigler1986: morning
    Jul 22, 2015 7:30 AM - Mike Glass: morning
Jul 22, 2015 7:46 AM - Bill Monroe: how old is your oldest, jb?
    Jul 22, 2015 7:46 AM - jbigler1986: 7
    Jul 22, 2015 7:47 AM - Bill Monroe: precious
Jul 22, 2015 7:47 AM - jbigler1986: extremely smart. like really really smart
    Jul 22, 2015 7:47 AM - jbigler1986: all advanced classes for 2nd grade
Jul 22, 2015 7:49 AM - donhuevo: being a child of a home that was broken twice, I have to say that a divorce now is a lot less traumatic that if they were in high school
    Jul 22, 2015 7:49 AM - Bill Monroe: agreed
Jul 22, 2015 7:49 AM - daniel871: Yeah, and middle school was even worse than high school.
    Jul 22, 2015 7:49 AM - Bill Monroe: mine were 14, 6, and 5
Jul 22, 2015 7:50 AM - daniel871: Kids are absolute fuckers though. I got a lot of "shut up, not even your mother wants anything to do with you" in school after my mom ditched my dad back in the 80's in elementary/middle school.
    Jul 22, 2015 7:51 AM - jbigler1986: uhhhhhhh "kids are fuckers"
    Jul 22, 2015 7:51 AM - daniel871: Mean little shits.
    Jul 22, 2015 7:52 AM - jbigler1986: ok. yeah they can be
Jul 22, 2015 7:52 AM - Mike Kelly: kids are brutal to each other
Jul 22, 2015 7:53 AM - Bill Monroe: kids are the product of their parents, both genetically and in thier behavior
    Jul 22, 2015 7:53 AM - jbigler1986: agreed
Jul 22, 2015 7:54 AM - daniel871: Doesn't change the fact that most of the kids in school are absolute monsters to anyone they can pick on because most parents are the same way.
    Jul 22, 2015 7:54 AM - Mike Kelly: yup
Jul 22, 2015 7:55 AM - jbigler1986: my kids don't pick on anyone. they know better
    Jul 22, 2015 7:55 AM - Bill Monroe: <hi5>
Jul 22, 2015 7:55 AM - daniel871: Said by every parent of a bully, if said parent didn't victim blame when confronted.
Jul 22, 2015 7:55 AM - Bill Monroe: I got mine 100% in the divorce.. they turned out just fine: [IMG]
Jul 22, 2015 7:55 AM - jbigler1986: go watch my kids at school. you will see
Jul 22, 2015 7:56 AM - daniel871: Any adult that goes and watches kids that aren't theirs at a school needs therapy.
Jul 22, 2015 7:56 AM - Bill Monroe: how many kids you got Daniel?
    Jul 22, 2015 7:56 AM - jbigler1986: 0
Jul 22, 2015 7:56 AM - daniel871: The groom in that photo looks like he's confused.
    Jul 22, 2015 7:56 AM - Mike Kelly: let's be nice
    Jul 22, 2015 7:56 AM - daniel871: lol
Jul 22, 2015 7:57 AM - Bill Monroe: it was a amatuer snapshot..
Jul 22, 2015 7:57 AM - jbigler1986: daniel, did you have a bad night of sleep?
Jul 22, 2015 7:57 AM - daniel871: None of my own, but I raised my cousin after his parents died.
    Jul 22, 2015 7:57 AM - Bill Monroe: married?
    Jul 22, 2015 7:57 AM - daniel871: Or finished raising him, rather.
    Jul 22, 2015 7:57 AM - daniel871: Nope.
    Jul 22, 2015 7:58 AM - Bill Monroe: I see
Jul 22, 2015 7:58 AM - daniel871: He'll be going to his first year at college in August.
Jul 22, 2015 7:59 AM - daniel871: He got a lot of shit from other kids because his parents died, and their parents would be all "it's been X years since they died, he should be over it by now!" and other bullshit like that.
    Jul 22, 2015 8:00 AM - Mike Kelly: ugh
    Jul 22, 2015 8:00 AM - jbigler1986: SW crash?
Jul 22, 2015 8:00 AM - Mike Kelly: not yet...
Jul 22, 2015 8:02 AM - donhuevo: sneaky ptfe connector waited until I spilled an entire keurig container of water on the counter before it decided to let go of the tube again
    Jul 22, 2015 8:03 AM - jbigler1986: that sucks
Jul 22, 2015 8:03 AM - donhuevo: I trimmed a little off the end this time
Jul 22, 2015 8:03 AM - Mike Kelly: do you pull out on the collar when you put in the ptfe tube?
Jul 22, 2015 8:03 AM - donhuevo: first opportunity though, I'm going to print another extruder cover that I can put one of those other ends into
Jul 22, 2015 8:03 AM - daniel871: Do you not have one of those bowden clips/fittings that will tighten up on the tube when pulled out?
Jul 22, 2015 8:03 AM - donhuevo: I absolutely pull the collar out
    Jul 22, 2015 8:04 AM - daniel871: Sounds like a bad collar then.
Jul 22, 2015 8:04 AM - donhuevo: I'm printing .3 at speed so extra force is at play.
Jul 22, 2015 8:04 AM - donhuevo: this particular flush mount fitting sucks

Jul 22, 2015 8:05 AM - WheresWaldo: Hey MK, I want to congratulate you on your patience with noob BenMac in the Should I buy a second printer thread, when he doesn't even have a first printer.
    Jul 22, 2015 8:05 AM - jbigler1986: for real?
Jul 22, 2015 8:07 AM - Mike Kelly: you mean his other thread?
    Jul 22, 2015 8:08 AM - WheresWaldo: Yeah
Jul 22, 2015 8:08 AM - daniel871: BenMac is hilarious to me thinking he'll either get a kit or buy the Plus/Pro when it comes out expecting it to be done better than what the users here have done.
Jul 22, 2015 8:09 AM - daniel871: Everyone tell him to get a kit and learn the ins and outs of 3d printing that way to save the aggravation of buying a Robo and finding out about all the tinkering you're expected to do that you aren't told about.
Jul 22, 2015 8:10 AM - Mike Kelly: unless he can get the robo for 699 buying the kit won't be worth it, plus he'd have to wait till the parts come in
Jul 22, 2015 8:10 AM - Mike Kelly: may as well just wait the few weeks at this point
Jul 22, 2015 8:10 AM - daniel871: Or get on the M3D printer wait list.
Jul 22, 2015 8:10 AM - daniel871: Since they let you and the Tiko list is closed until they start shipping.
Jul 22, 2015 8:11 AM - jbigler1986: i would have been so lost if i bought a kit for my very first printer
Jul 22, 2015 8:11 AM - Mike Kelly: i hate applying to jobs because of crap like this "In 150 characters or fewer, tell us what makes you unique. Try to be creative and say something that will catch our eye!*"
    Jul 22, 2015 8:12 AM - jbigler1986: i have a 15 inch penis. There done
Jul 22, 2015 8:12 AM - Mike Kelly: i don't even know what to say there
Jul 22, 2015 8:12 AM - Mike Kelly: not that kind of job i don't think
Jul 22, 2015 8:12 AM - daniel871: Lies, as evidenced by your recent issues.
Jul 22, 2015 8:12 AM - Stephen Capistron: too soon
Jul 22, 2015 8:12 AM - Mike Kelly: "It's up to you to make your own decisions in life. That's what separates people and robots from animals ... and animal robots."
Jul 22, 2015 8:12 AM - Mike Kelly: that was my wife's suggestion
    Jul 22, 2015 8:12 AM - daniel871: That doesn't describe you at all though.
    Jul 22, 2015 8:13 AM - daniel871: Did she read the question?
    Jul 22, 2015 8:13 AM - Mike Kelly: yup
    Jul 22, 2015 8:13 AM - Mike Kelly: haha
Jul 22, 2015 8:13 AM - Mike Kelly: she read "be creative and eye catching"
Jul 22, 2015 8:13 AM - Mike Kelly: not sure she caught the rest
Jul 22, 2015 8:13 AM - jbigler1986: also daniel sex was a nightly occurrence. so yeah.
Jul 22, 2015 8:13 AM - Stephen Capistron: If you want eye catching start off like this "I DECIDED TO TYPE THIS IN ALL CAPS BECAUSE NOTHING IS MORE EYE CATCHING THAN THAT"
Jul 22, 2015 8:14 AM - daniel871: "I'm better at this job than you are and if you don't hire me it will be your loss."
Jul 22, 2015 8:14 AM - Mike Kelly: haha stephen, lol
    Jul 22, 2015 8:14 AM - jbigler1986: lol
    Jul 22, 2015 8:14 AM - Mike Kelly: don't wanna be smug
Jul 22, 2015 8:14 AM - Stephen Capistron: I don't know, questions like that just ask for bs answers drive me nuts
Jul 22, 2015 8:14 AM - Stephen Capistron: And I left caps lock on
    Jul 22, 2015 8:14 AM - Stephen Capistron: f it
Jul 22, 2015 8:15 AM - Stephen Capistron: I can fix that, but i'm not going to
    Jul 22, 2015 8:15 AM - Mike Kelly: convertcase.net
Jul 22, 2015 8:15 AM - daniel871: "I worked for one of your competitors and know how to get around their patents."
Jul 22, 2015 8:16 AM - daniel871: "Also I have copies of every project I ever worked on and customer contact info".
Jul 22, 2015 8:16 AM - daniel871: Just don't mention that the competitor went out of business.
Jul 22, 2015 8:17 AM - Mike Kelly: this is actually for an educational robotics company
Jul 22, 2015 8:18 AM - Stephen Capistron: Just drop the "teach a man to fish" quote and be done with it
Jul 22, 2015 8:18 AM - daniel871: "Build a man a fire, he's warm for a night; *set* a man on fire, he's warm for the rest of his life."
    Jul 22, 2015 8:19 AM - Mike Kelly: lol
Jul 22, 2015 8:19 AM - daniel871: An M3D printer and a set of spare parts for pretty much everything is $394 total with free shipping. It's only half the build size of the Robo though.
Jul 22, 2015 8:20 AM - Stephen Capistron: just get the printbot play
Jul 22, 2015 8:21 AM - daniel871: Hey, what's that machine called we looked at a while back that let you trace a pattern with a probe and at the other end a router would carve what you traced on the actual part.
Jul 22, 2015 8:21 AM - Mike Glass: pantograph router?
Jul 22, 2015 8:24 AM - Mike Kelly: i like the rigidbot right now
Jul 22, 2015 8:25 AM - Mike Kelly: it's a kit but pretty cheap and big build volume
Jul 22, 2015 8:26 AM - Mike Kelly: plus it's what walter uses and his prints are great
    Jul 22, 2015 8:27 AM - daniel871: Yeah, that's it.
Jul 22, 2015 8:27 AM - Mike Glass: haha I like that they state there is no warranty.
Jul 22, 2015 8:28 AM - Mike Glass: you have 7 days after you recieve it to get a replacement part..nice
    Jul 22, 2015 8:28 AM - jbigler1986: lol
    Jul 22, 2015 8:29 AM - Mike Kelly: 10x10x10 for 799 though
Jul 22, 2015 8:29 AM - Stephen Capistron: so order kit and schedule vacation upon arrival so you can figure out what is broken
Jul 22, 2015 8:30 AM - Mike Kelly: though you don't get an lcd
    Jul 22, 2015 8:31 AM - Mike Glass: $14 will cure that
Jul 22, 2015 8:31 AM - Mike Kelly: assuming it uses an arduino controller
Jul 22, 2015 8:33 AM - Mike Glass: nope, uses their own. $175 for the lcd...wow
Jul 22, 2015 8:33 AM - daniel871: I like the idea of the M3D's motion setup. The bed is stationary and the XY & Z move around above it.
    Jul 22, 2015 8:34 AM - Mike Glass: they make a bigger one that is 12 x 16 x 10 in
    Jul 22, 2015 8:34 AM - Mike Glass: $879 for the kit
Jul 22, 2015 8:35 AM - Mike Kelly: ugh man my head is in like 5 places right now
    Jul 22, 2015 8:35 AM - jbigler1986: join the club
Jul 22, 2015 8:36 AM - daniel871: Hm. They claim the print head has a processor in it that tracks motion and position to feed back to the controller.
    Jul 22, 2015 8:36 AM - Mike Kelly: lol
Jul 22, 2015 8:38 AM - daniel871: That's only a step above the controllers on the Robo, CNC-tech-wise. The ones we have at work track the spindle location relative to the machine home, part offset home and a couple other locations.
Jul 22, 2015 8:38 AM - Mike Glass: wow they raised over 1Million on their kickstarter campaign
Jul 22, 2015 8:38 AM - donhuevo: see Mike, I told you to find a way to mount your ramps and arduino to your carriage
    Jul 22, 2015 8:39 AM - Mike Kelly: lol
    Jul 22, 2015 8:39 AM - Mike Kelly: daniel you'd like this: https://plus.google.com/100843029189377920683/posts/Xex5k1jNnjU
Jul 22, 2015 8:39 AM - daniel871: I wish I had the spare money to drop on it. I'm curious how it works now.
Jul 22, 2015 8:41 AM - Mike Glass: interesting the bed is fixed, kinda cool
    Jul 22, 2015 8:41 AM - daniel871: Yeah, that's the main thing that made me do a double-take when I saw it.
    Jul 22, 2015 8:42 AM - Mike Glass: its a square delta
    Jul 22, 2015 8:42 AM - daniel871: Yep.
    Jul 22, 2015 8:43 AM - daniel871: Ugh.
    Jul 22, 2015 8:43 AM - daniel871: I wish I wasn't conflicted about impulse buys.
Jul 22, 2015 8:44 AM - daniel871: Nah, never mind. The Robo will be fine once I finish modifying it.
Jul 22, 2015 8:44 AM - daniel871: Going to go back to the regular v6 for both of the hotends on the dual setup just to avoid part fan issues when keeping nozzle temps.
Jul 22, 2015 8:46 AM - Mike Kelly: the first 3d printer i saw in '99 was the same way
Jul 22, 2015 8:46 AM - Mike Glass: maybe a good way to go for the bap eh.
Jul 22, 2015 8:47 AM - Mike Glass: guess I should message Harry on the lead screws.
Jul 22, 2015 8:48 AM - Mike Kelly: "As a kid I dreamed of making robots, but the cost was prohibitive and had to wait till I was an adult. I hope every child can have the tools I did not"
Jul 22, 2015 8:49 AM - Mike Glass: So do you make robots now?
Jul 22, 2015 8:49 AM - Mike Glass: ah poop meeting time.
    Jul 22, 2015 8:49 AM - Mike Kelly: i haven't in a while
Jul 22, 2015 8:50 AM - Mike Glass: erector set, I used to build them out of
    Jul 22, 2015 8:50 AM - Mike Kelly: i used k'nex but same concept
Jul 22, 2015 8:50 AM - Mike Kelly: just not the same when you can't actually control it
Jul 22, 2015 9:13 AM - daniel871: Just got an email about a whopping $100 off of the Rostock deltas on MatterHackers.
    Jul 22, 2015 9:13 AM - daniel871: Orion and MAX v2.
    Jul 22, 2015 9:13 AM - daniel871: Mostly sarcasm.
    Jul 22, 2015 9:15 AM - Mike Kelly: lol
Jul 22, 2015 9:18 AM - Mike Kelly: so i found out that if you print a part for someone on 3d hubs and they stop responding they'll mark it picked up after several weeks
Jul 22, 2015 9:19 AM - Mike Kelly: then you get paid
    Jul 22, 2015 9:19 AM - jbigler1986: nice
    Jul 22, 2015 9:19 AM - jbigler1986: thats how it should be

Jul 22, 2015 9:22 AM - daniel871: I've got the opposite problem. I placed an order, they took it and never responded after June 22nd. I've been posting "Still not received and no response from Hub" comments notifiying 3dHubs, but nothing.
Jul 22, 2015 9:23 AM - jbigler1986: 3dhubs was good for me. I told them i needed to cancel an order and take my printer offline. they did it within a day
    Jul 22, 2015 9:24 AM - Mike Kelly: nice
Jul 22, 2015 9:25 AM - Mike Kelly: did you pay already daniel?
    Jul 22, 2015 10:03 AM - bamhm182: Hey all
    Jul 22, 2015 10:03 AM - jbigler1986: hola
    Jul 22, 2015 10:04 AM - donhuevo: hello
Jul 22, 2015 10:07 AM - bamhm182: On the plus side jb, you're 1/4 the way to a new printer
    Jul 22, 2015 10:08 AM - jbigler1986: that is true
    Jul 22, 2015 10:08 AM - jbigler1986: thank you all once again
Jul 22, 2015 10:09 AM - bamhm182: Well you're always helping people around here and are pretty active, it would be a shame to see you go, haha

    Jul 22, 2015 10:10 AM - bamhm182: Those are pretty awesome
    Jul 22, 2015 10:10 AM - jbigler1986: yeah. don't think that will happen
    Jul 22, 2015 10:11 AM - bamhm182: Good
Jul 22, 2015 10:12 AM - bamhm182: I think I'm just going to toss my 1/16 stepper driver back in for the z-axis
Jul 22, 2015 10:12 AM - bamhm182: They 1/32s work fine for the x/y/e, but I can't get them to play nicely with my z
Jul 22, 2015 11:22 AM - donhuevo: my new favorite printer tool... http://www.amazon.com/Goldblatt-G05...qid=1437589441&sr=8-14&keywords=razor+scraper
    Jul 22, 2015 11:23 AM - jbigler1986: i like my putty knife
    Jul 22, 2015 11:24 AM - jbigler1986: well. i liked my putty knife
Jul 22, 2015 11:24 AM - bamhm182: I printed one off a while back that has been doing a good job
Jul 22, 2015 11:24 AM - bamhm182: I don't know where I put my razors since I moved, so I've been using my putty knife
Jul 22, 2015 11:25 AM - Stephen Capistron: im a putty knife user as well
Jul 22, 2015 11:25 AM - donhuevo: there's just no doubt it's going to get under what you want it to
    Jul 22, 2015 11:26 AM - bamhm182: Yeah
Jul 22, 2015 11:27 AM - bamhm182: And since it's thinner, it also does less damage to the bottom edge of the print
    Jul 22, 2015 11:27 AM - donhuevo: that too
Jul 22, 2015 11:28 AM - donhuevo: mostly though, I only need it for skirts and boogers
Jul 22, 2015 11:28 AM - bamhm182: I bought this gopro in November, and at first I was having a ton of trouble getting it to stay connected to my phone, then that finally got resolved and it worked for a few months, then it started rejecting every single micro sd card I would put into it saying "SD Card Error"

    Jul 22, 2015 11:29 AM - donhuevo: cursed
Jul 22, 2015 11:29 AM - bamhm182: Decided that I should contact the gopro support after trying to format all my cards in FAT32/exFAT with the computer and with the camera multiple times with no luck
Jul 22, 2015 11:29 AM - bamhm182: Then I send the email and put the battery back in and press the on button and it sees the card...
Jul 22, 2015 11:30 AM - bamhm182: I feel like I should still try to get them to replace it
    Jul 22, 2015 11:30 AM - donhuevo: not surprising
Jul 22, 2015 11:31 AM - donhuevo: it's like you told it, 'I'm telling your mom on you' and it started to behave
    Jul 22, 2015 11:31 AM - bamhm182: hahaha, exactly
Jul 22, 2015 11:33 AM - donhuevo: I've seen it happen a lot with technology. I walk up to a computer that the user swears is acting up and it behaves the entire time I'm in front of it
Jul 22, 2015 11:33 AM - donhuevo: computers fear me
Jul 22, 2015 11:35 AM - bamhm182: I'm usually the same way, this gopro is a punk though
Jul 22, 2015 11:35 AM - donhuevo: and that pisses the user off to no end because the computer just made them a liar
    Jul 22, 2015 11:35 AM - bamhm182: Yeah, haha
Jul 22, 2015 11:35 AM - daniel871: My experience there has been that the user is a liar.
Jul 22, 2015 11:36 AM - Stephen Capistron: i swear to god the toaster was dancing on the pool table

Jul 22, 2015 12:31 PM - daniel871: Haha, there's an article circulating about Ryan Reynold's visiting a terminally ill kid that has cancer as Deadpool and someone was all upset about it.
Jul 22, 2015 12:32 PM - daniel871: "Why would a kid with cancer get a visit from Deadpool?"
Jul 22, 2015 12:32 PM - daniel871: Because Deadpool has cancer, you dolt?
Jul 22, 2015 12:32 PM - daniel871: (also because the kid asked for him)
Jul 22, 2015 12:35 PM - Mike Kelly: til deadpool has cancer
Jul 22, 2015 12:50 PM - daniel871: Also many of Deadpool's defining moments have been when he's taken some pretty nasty punishment to protect kids (like facing the Hulk to buy time for kids to escape from a daycare building before he smashes it).
    Jul 22, 2015 12:52 PM - Aaron Mitchell: o/

    Jul 22, 2015 1:13 PM - Mike Kelly: budget?
Jul 22, 2015 1:13 PM - toy: cost isnt really to much of a concern longest it under 2k
    Jul 22, 2015 1:13 PM - toy: around their

Jul 22, 2015 1:15 PM - Mike Glass: Im building one also
Jul 22, 2015 1:15 PM - toy: the scanify is cool... but it seems more like image recontrustion
Jul 22, 2015 1:15 PM - Mike Kelly: 3d systems sense seems good
Jul 22, 2015 1:15 PM - Mike Kelly: Fuel 3D is also a good option
Jul 22, 2015 1:16 PM - toy: im confused i thought the fuel3d and scanify where the same
Jul 22, 2015 1:16 PM - Mike Glass: you can go up to the next step and get a nextEngine but they are around the $3K range
Jul 22, 2015 1:17 PM - Mike Glass: They are Toy
    Jul 22, 2015 1:17 PM - toy: ok
Jul 22, 2015 1:17 PM - Mike Kelly: they are
Jul 22, 2015 1:17 PM - Mike Kelly: i like the iSense but you might not need that
Jul 22, 2015 1:17 PM - toy: im not sure if i like the idea of image reconstruction... sounds like im paying for fancy software that can be done open source
Jul 22, 2015 1:18 PM - Mike Glass: If you could swing 3K then go that route.
    Jul 22, 2015 1:18 PM - Mike Kelly: http://www.3ders.org/articles/20150...d-scanning-with-kinect-and-raspberry-pi2.html make this
Jul 22, 2015 1:19 PM - Mike Kelly: it's not just image reconstruction though
Jul 22, 2015 1:19 PM - Mike Kelly: it just uses images to fill in colors and such
Jul 22, 2015 1:19 PM - Mike Kelly: it also uses IR reflection sensing like the kinect
Jul 22, 2015 1:19 PM - toy: does it scan in realtime?
Jul 22, 2015 1:20 PM - Mike Kelly: what do you mean real time
    Jul 22, 2015 1:20 PM - daniel871: Creaform3D if no price objections.
Jul 22, 2015 1:20 PM - Aaron Mitchell: Mike, that RasPi/Kinect scanner isn't fully developed yet...
    Jul 22, 2015 1:20 PM - Mike Kelly: it was a joke
Jul 22, 2015 1:20 PM - toy: ive seen kinect videos where they scan the mesh in realtime.... thinking something like that
Jul 22, 2015 1:20 PM - toy: scan the point cload in realtime
Jul 22, 2015 1:20 PM - Aaron Mitchell: It can show a picture from the camera on the screen attached to the RasPi, but can't actually convert images to a 3D file (.stl) yet...
Jul 22, 2015 1:20 PM - toy: im fairly green when it comes to 3d scanning btw
Jul 22, 2015 1:21 PM - toy: nextengine seems to small to scan a kid
    Jul 22, 2015 1:22 PM - daniel871: Here you go. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:702470
    Jul 22, 2015 1:22 PM - daniel871: :p
    Jul 22, 2015 1:22 PM - Mike Kelly: isn't it portable
Jul 22, 2015 1:22 PM - toy: something handheld would be prefered... i would like to try the kinect one scanner but im not sure how far they have come with that sensor
Jul 22, 2015 1:22 PM - daniel871: Teach them to build one and scan small stuff.
Jul 22, 2015 1:23 PM - Mike Kelly: it just kinda depends what level of detail you're comfortable weith
Jul 22, 2015 1:23 PM - daniel871: There's no way I'd expect the Kinect to be accurate enough for the kinds of things I'd want to scan.
Jul 22, 2015 1:24 PM - Aaron Mitchell: something laser based...
    Jul 22, 2015 1:24 PM - toy: how much is the creaform3d?
    Jul 22, 2015 1:24 PM - daniel871: Far too much.
Jul 22, 2015 1:24 PM - daniel871: But it's the high end of high end.
Jul 22, 2015 1:24 PM - toy: my options still seem to be the fuel3d.... but im not convinced, their has to be something better
Jul 22, 2015 1:25 PM - Mike Kelly: not a lot of options right now
Jul 22, 2015 1:25 PM - daniel871: Nope. 3d scanners are either hilariously inaccurate (But it scans!) builds and really accurate, really expensive stuff that the manufacturers are super proud of.
    Jul 22, 2015 1:26 PM - toy: http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-3D-scan-with-Skanect/ ???
Jul 22, 2015 1:26 PM - daniel871: Creaform3D won't even provide an online price, you have to ask for a quote after describing what you want to do with the scanner.

    Jul 22, 2015 1:26 PM - toy: i saw that... i was hoping u might know daniel
Jul 22, 2015 1:26 PM - Mike Glass: to slow aaron
Jul 22, 2015 1:27 PM - Aaron Mitchell: I might be slow, but I am goooood....
Jul 22, 2015 1:27 PM - daniel871: I only know about it because the place where I work is negotiating getting a couple for field inspection purposes (to beat the shit out of large dial indicators and micrometers and a hundred measurements).
Jul 22, 2015 1:28 PM - daniel871: Scanning a disassembled roll and having a model would beat the shit out of having to read a million measurements and draw it.
Jul 22, 2015 1:28 PM - Mike Kelly: i want one for scanning in large equipment to save modeling time
Jul 22, 2015 1:28 PM - Mike Kelly: not happening now though
Jul 22, 2015 1:28 PM - Aaron Mitchell: The Creaforms sell for about $55,000....
    Jul 22, 2015 1:29 PM - daniel871: At the low end.
Jul 22, 2015 1:29 PM - Mike Kelly: slightly over budget
    Jul 22, 2015 1:29 PM - Aaron Mitchell: Just a bit outside...
    Jul 22, 2015 1:29 PM - jbigler1986: 55k? That's it
Jul 22, 2015 1:29 PM - daniel871: Our inspection kits cost that much per year easily just in the freight charges for shipping them to a location to inspect something.
Jul 22, 2015 1:29 PM - Aaron Mitchell: That's for the handheld unit
    Jul 22, 2015 1:30 PM - Aaron Mitchell: :/
Jul 22, 2015 1:30 PM - daniel871: One kit weighs about 70 pounds in the case, vs. however light that unit would be in a smaller protective case that could potentially be a carry-on.
Jul 22, 2015 1:31 PM - daniel871: That 70 pounds times about twenty service guys times daily flights adds up in a fuckin' hurry.
Jul 22, 2015 1:31 PM - Aaron Mitchell: I would have the kids build one of the Thingiverse models and they would also understand how it works...
    Jul 22, 2015 1:31 PM - daniel871: That's what I was thinking when I suggested it, Aaron.
Jul 22, 2015 1:32 PM - Aaron Mitchell: I agree with Daniel on that...
    Jul 22, 2015 1:32 PM - BryZad: Mike K you here ?
Jul 22, 2015 1:32 PM - daniel871: Actually learn something instead of having an "Isn't this cool!" demonstration.
    Jul 22, 2015 1:32 PM - Aaron Mitchell: ^
    Jul 22, 2015 1:32 PM - Aaron Mitchell: yepper...
Jul 22, 2015 1:32 PM - BryZad: How is the lead screws working out for everyone ?
Jul 22, 2015 1:33 PM - Aaron Mitchell: You could build a few at that price and have the kids try to design one with the best accuracy,,,
Jul 22, 2015 1:33 PM - Mike Glass: not so good.
Jul 22, 2015 1:33 PM - daniel871: I haven't installed them yet, going to do that this weekend.
Jul 22, 2015 1:33 PM - Aaron Mitchell: Smooth and solid Bryzad...completed 5 prints since I put them in and no issues...
Jul 22, 2015 1:33 PM - daniel871: Mine actually came in straight and un-fucked on the threads and including the Z sensor mounts.
Jul 22, 2015 1:34 PM - daniel871: Now watch me drop one when getting ready to install it or something and bend the screw.
    Jul 22, 2015 1:34 PM - daniel871:
    Jul 22, 2015 1:34 PM - Mike Glass: lol
Jul 22, 2015 1:34 PM - Mike Glass: thats why i got extra
Jul 22, 2015 1:34 PM - Aaron Mitchell: This was printed after I installed them...nice straight lines...
    Jul 22, 2015 1:35 PM - Aaron Mitchell: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:936856
    Jul 22, 2015 1:36 PM - BryZad: What's going wrong with yours Mike ?
Jul 22, 2015 1:37 PM - Aaron Mitchell: Mike's rod is bent...but I keep telling him that is normal for some guys. :p
Jul 22, 2015 1:37 PM - BryZad: Looks really clean Aaron
    Jul 22, 2015 1:37 PM - Aaron Mitchell: ty
Jul 22, 2015 1:37 PM - BryZad: So if you wanted it smoothed out minal sanding ?
    Jul 22, 2015 1:38 PM - Aaron Mitchell: sure..or use Mike's vapor polishing method
Jul 22, 2015 1:38 PM - daniel871: I should have bought 3 so that even if I didn't break one I'd have enough to putz around with modifying the other axes.
Jul 22, 2015 1:38 PM - Mike Glass: one is really bad Bry, somebody took a vise or something to the end and effed up the threads.
Jul 22, 2015 1:38 PM - BryZad: Well I build props so the less sanding it always a plus
Jul 22, 2015 1:39 PM - Aaron Mitchell: You'll be fine Daniel...plus you'll have the leftover steppers with those fancy couplers to play with...
Jul 22, 2015 1:39 PM - Mike Glass: Bry use abs then vapor polish
Jul 22, 2015 1:40 PM - BryZad: Would loose detail and sharp edges
    Jul 22, 2015 1:40 PM - Mike Kelly: ok i'm back
Jul 22, 2015 1:40 PM - Mike Glass: depens on how far you take it.
Jul 22, 2015 1:40 PM - daniel871: Will the vapor polish work on PET+ as well, or is that just an ABS thing?
Jul 22, 2015 1:40 PM - BryZad: And I have the printer in the house don't have a garage to print in
Jul 22, 2015 1:41 PM - Mike Glass: so, I print abs all the time in the house
Jul 22, 2015 1:41 PM - BryZad: So the abs smells would not go over well
    Jul 22, 2015 1:41 PM - Mike Glass: smell?
Jul 22, 2015 1:41 PM - Aaron Mitchell: Put the printer on the stove and turn on the hood...

Jul 22, 2015 1:41 PM - Mike Kelly: PET+ will vapor polish a bit with acetone and does decent with MEK
Jul 22, 2015 1:42 PM - Mike Kelly: get an enclosure brad ;)
Jul 22, 2015 1:42 PM - daniel871: The safety enclosure and a towel over the filament slot cut down the ABS smell a lot.
Jul 22, 2015 1:42 PM - Mike Glass: I have a sensitive smell, and only smell it if my head is right in the robo
Jul 22, 2015 1:42 PM - Mike Kelly: some brands smell more than others
    Jul 22, 2015 1:42 PM - toy: http://3dprintingindustry.com/2014/...er-full-color-3d-scanning-powers-3d-printing/
Jul 22, 2015 1:42 PM - daniel871: I had to get right up on the Robo to smell it when I tried ABS a while back.
Jul 22, 2015 1:42 PM - Mike Kelly: did you see printed solids post on vapor polishing?
Jul 22, 2015 1:42 PM - BryZad: Well I have 8 spools of white Pla for props to burn through
Jul 22, 2015 1:42 PM - Mike Glass: then you MEK for vapor polishing Pla
Jul 22, 2015 1:42 PM - daniel871: I have one spool each of white and black JustABS filament.
Jul 22, 2015 1:43 PM - daniel871: Mainly for putzing around with when I get around to it.
Jul 22, 2015 1:43 PM - Mike Kelly: PLA is a BITCH to sand though
Jul 22, 2015 1:43 PM - Mike Kelly: i hate post processing that stuff
Jul 22, 2015 1:43 PM - Mike Kelly: abs is so much nicer
Jul 22, 2015 1:43 PM - daniel871: I've heard some people just take a soldering iron to it and smooth out the rough spots very carefully.
    Jul 22, 2015 1:43 PM - daniel871: PLA
Jul 22, 2015 1:44 PM - Mike Glass: that or use a coating is actually easier
Jul 22, 2015 1:44 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah i want to get one of those wax carving tool kit
Jul 22, 2015 1:44 PM - daniel871: And by that they probably mean very fn carefully.
    Jul 22, 2015 1:44 PM - daniel871: Something about frosting spraypaint.
    Jul 22, 2015 1:44 PM - daniel871: glass frosting.
Jul 22, 2015 1:44 PM - Mike Glass: that only works with abs
Jul 22, 2015 1:44 PM - BryZad: Not to bad to sand if pint lines are small and xtc-3d makes it more solid
Jul 22, 2015 1:46 PM - Mike Glass: I have a good idea that may work for you Bry.
Jul 22, 2015 1:48 PM - Mike Glass: take your part and dip it in this stuff. http://www.amazon.com/Donald-Durhams-076694000046-4-Pound-Rockhard/dp/B000LNS2LU
Jul 22, 2015 1:52 PM - Mike Kelly: Xylene is a strong solvent
Jul 22, 2015 1:52 PM - Mike Glass: guess depends how thick you spray it on, it may work. I have some I can try.
Jul 22, 2015 1:53 PM - daniel871: Wish me luck, I'm going to try and clean out the volcano again when I get home tonight.
Jul 22, 2015 1:54 PM - Mike Kelly: i need to find a chemical compatibility chart for PLA
Jul 22, 2015 1:54 PM - toy: mike glass im gonna contact the creators of the ar sandbox about support for the kinect one sensor
Jul 22, 2015 1:58 PM - Mike Kelly: hmm according to this chart i found PET has excellent chemical resistance to MEK
Jul 22, 2015 2:00 PM - Mike Kelly: chloromethane and chloroform would apparently work well...
Jul 22, 2015 2:00 PM - Mike Kelly: PLA is soluble in chlorinated solvents, hot benzene, tetrahydrofuran, and dioxane.[11]
Jul 22, 2015 2:02 PM - Mike Glass: I got some petg in today.. 3mm doh
Jul 22, 2015 2:03 PM - Mike Kelly: man i did that on one of my justpla spools, super annoying
Jul 22, 2015 2:04 PM - Mike Glass: I was some really cool green also. oh well, probably cant use it on the hex anyway.
Jul 22, 2015 2:04 PM - Mike Kelly: why not?
Jul 22, 2015 2:05 PM - Mike Kelly: i guess do you mean you can't use the green or because it's 3mm
Jul 22, 2015 2:05 PM - Mike Glass: I dunno, just abs and pla seem to run.
Jul 22, 2015 2:06 PM - Mike Glass: nylon and xt are unusable
Jul 22, 2015 2:07 PM - Mike Kelly: hmm crazy
Jul 22, 2015 2:08 PM - Mike Glass: I need to order a V6 for the new carriage anyways.
Jul 22, 2015 2:09 PM - Mike Glass: but then need a geared stepper for bowden.
Jul 22, 2015 2:10 PM - Mike Kelly: want to buy mine?
Jul 22, 2015 2:10 PM - Mike Glass: what would you use
Jul 22, 2015 2:10 PM - Mike Kelly: i bought some new ones in my robotdigg order
Jul 22, 2015 2:12 PM - Mike Glass: awe sweet, just differrent gear set
Jul 22, 2015 2:12 PM - Mike Kelly: different shaft diameter
Jul 22, 2015 2:13 PM - Mike Kelly: i think the specs are the same otherwise
Jul 22, 2015 2:13 PM - Mike Kelly: just wanted something that matched up to my bondtechs more appropriately
Jul 22, 2015 2:14 PM - Mike Glass: would it work for the hurcustruder
Jul 22, 2015 2:14 PM - Mike Kelly: yup they worked great for that
Jul 22, 2015 2:16 PM - Mike Kelly: and if you got with the tatsu they sell a 6mm version
Jul 22, 2015 2:16 PM - Mike Kelly: oh god dammit the aria came unstuck
Jul 22, 2015 2:17 PM - Mike Glass: oh no
Jul 22, 2015 2:17 PM - BryZad: Ha ha Mike might see how that works
Jul 22, 2015 2:17 PM - Mike Kelly: hate that shit
Jul 22, 2015 2:18 PM - Mike Glass: my Justpla prints I have to jack hammer off
Jul 22, 2015 2:18 PM - Mike Kelly: i didn't have a great first layer but i thought it would be ok
Jul 22, 2015 2:18 PM - Mike Glass: but I found that a few seconds with spongebob, they pop right off.
Jul 22, 2015 2:20 PM - BryZad: That's also why I like Pla it sticks to the build plate really well
Jul 22, 2015 2:20 PM - Mike Glass: Or Bry, make a mold then you could cast them in that stuff as well.
Jul 22, 2015 2:20 PM - Mike Kelly: this was PLA
Jul 22, 2015 2:20 PM - Mike Glass: abs will too, just put down some acetone and rub a old abs part on the bed, you will not get that print off till the bed cools.
Jul 22, 2015 2:25 PM - daniel871: Electrical being done in the shop starting tomorrow, hopefully that will be done in time for me to do all my upgrades to the robo and put it out there to run.
Jul 22, 2015 2:25 PM - Mike Glass: how dare you move her to the garage
Jul 22, 2015 2:25 PM - daniel871: An actual honest to god shop.
Jul 22, 2015 2:26 PM - Mike Glass: ok, I guess will let it slide.
Jul 22, 2015 2:26 PM - daniel871: She'll be on a work table next to the cabinet my extra unopened filament spools are stored in.
Jul 22, 2015 2:27 PM - Mike Kelly: I really need to add some more circuits to my garage. I trip the circuit running my table router and dust collector if I have a printer even turned on
Jul 22, 2015 2:28 PM - Mike Glass: must be running 15amp circuts then
Jul 22, 2015 2:29 PM - Mike Glass: through in a 20 amp, should be fine, but replace the recepticals also
Jul 22, 2015 2:30 PM - Mike Glass: well as long as it isnt 14 gauge or above wire
    Jul 22, 2015 2:30 PM - Mike Kelly: i used to have a 15A, changed it to a 20A
    Jul 22, 2015 2:30 PM - Mike Kelly: 20A still trips
    Jul 22, 2015 2:30 PM - Mike Kelly: i want 3 20A circuits out there
Jul 22, 2015 2:30 PM - Mike Glass: what gauge wire though
Jul 22, 2015 2:31 PM - Mike Kelly: in the house? not sure
    Jul 22, 2015 2:31 PM - Mike Kelly: i would hope 12awg at least but i dunno
Jul 22, 2015 2:31 PM - Mike Glass: well on the circuts int he garage, I bet it is 14 then
Jul 22, 2015 2:31 PM - Mike Kelly: for the new circuits i'd run 12
Jul 22, 2015 2:31 PM - Printed Solid: MK, do you have the link to your wobble video handy?
Jul 22, 2015 2:31 PM - Mike Kelly: the existing wiring is probably 14 since it was originally a 15A circuit
    Jul 22, 2015 2:32 PM - Mike Kelly: https://www.dropbox.com/s/iawrtykdib7x4jo/00051.MTS?dl=0
Jul 22, 2015 2:32 PM - Mike Glass: I ran 12 in my garage and I can run both cnc, vacuum, air compressor, and table saw all at once.
Jul 22, 2015 2:32 PM - Mike Glass: that just off one circut..lol
    Jul 22, 2015 2:32 PM - Mike Kelly: 20A?
    Jul 22, 2015 2:32 PM - Mike Glass: yep
Jul 22, 2015 2:33 PM - Mike Glass: take that back the air is on a seperate one.
Jul 22, 2015 2:33 PM - Mike Kelly: i was able to run the table saw, dust collector, and vacuum at the same time
Jul 22, 2015 2:34 PM - Mike Kelly: i had to turn off the lights in the room and power down all the printers
Jul 22, 2015 2:34 PM - Mike Kelly: i just really want to not worry about that though
Jul 22, 2015 2:34 PM - Mike Glass: Oh so your lights are on the same circut?
    Jul 22, 2015 2:34 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah
Jul 22, 2015 2:34 PM - Mike Kelly: it's like so much shit on one circuit
Jul 22, 2015 2:34 PM - Mike Kelly: garage door opener is on it as well
Jul 22, 2015 2:34 PM - Mike Kelly: the kitchen microwave
Jul 22, 2015 2:34 PM - Mike Kelly: i think the lights in the kitchen are also onit
Jul 22, 2015 2:35 PM - Mike Kelly: whoever wired my house is an asshole

Jul 22, 2015 2:35 PM - Mike Glass: yea house is like that too, but the new addition and shop I wired, so I went overboard as usual.
Jul 22, 2015 2:35 PM - Printed Solid: come to my house sometime. Nice mix of aluminum and copper wiring. Sometimes within a room.
    Jul 22, 2015 2:35 PM - Mike Glass: must be pre 1950?
Jul 22, 2015 2:36 PM - Printed Solid: no. the aluminum wiring thing was OK until the 70s.
Jul 22, 2015 2:37 PM - Mike Glass: my 1930's home had that, with all the glass insulators in the attic, weaved wire.
Jul 22, 2015 2:39 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah i guess it could be worse
    Jul 22, 2015 2:39 PM - Mike Kelly: my house is a '77
Jul 22, 2015 2:40 PM - Mike Glass: MK send me a pm on what you need for the geared steppers.
    Jul 22, 2015 2:40 PM - Mike Kelly: alrighty
Jul 22, 2015 2:41 PM - Mike Kelly: do you want the drive gears i have for them as well?
Jul 22, 2015 2:41 PM - Mike Glass: if they will work for me yeah
    Jul 22, 2015 2:42 PM - Mike Kelly: ok
Jul 22, 2015 2:46 PM - BryZad: I guess I should put my RoBo back together
Jul 22, 2015 2:46 PM - BryZad: Does the upgrade kit ship quick
Jul 22, 2015 2:46 PM - Mike Glass: why for?
Jul 22, 2015 2:47 PM - Mike Kelly: they won't be shipping till august 15th at the earliest
Jul 22, 2015 2:47 PM - BryZad: I need to print out slides for halo Magnums
    Jul 22, 2015 2:48 PM - BryZad: Can I be a beta tester
    Jul 22, 2015 2:48 PM - Mike Kelly: lol that's what we're currently doing
    Jul 22, 2015 2:48 PM - BryZad: I know I feel left out
Jul 22, 2015 2:49 PM - Mike Kelly: gotta be active
    Jul 22, 2015 2:50 PM - BryZad: I have been :-(
Jul 22, 2015 2:50 PM - BryZad: Got some major props I can test on lol
    Jul 22, 2015 2:50 PM - Mike Kelly: lol
Jul 22, 2015 2:50 PM - Mike Glass: Im not active I sit at my desk all day..lol
Jul 22, 2015 2:51 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah i'm not active at all
Jul 22, 2015 2:51 PM - Mike Kelly: i also have horrible posture
Jul 22, 2015 2:51 PM - Mike Kelly: gonna have back problems
Jul 22, 2015 2:51 PM - BryZad: Some of the prints I need to do that are 48+ hours
Jul 22, 2015 2:52 PM - Mike Glass: what are you printing, a car?
Jul 22, 2015 2:52 PM - Mike Kelly: if you don't wanna wait for robo you could get a pair from amazon or robotdigg
    Jul 22, 2015 2:52 PM - Mike Kelly: or OMC-StepperOnline
Jul 22, 2015 2:52 PM - Mike Glass: or MKG reserves
Jul 22, 2015 2:53 PM - BryZad: Are they already wired to go
    Jul 22, 2015 2:54 PM - Mike Kelly: maybe?
Jul 22, 2015 2:54 PM - Mike Kelly: the ones on amazon are only like 260mm so you'd need to print a spacer like i designed for JB to maintain build volume
Jul 22, 2015 2:54 PM - BryZad: You don't have to pull stepers apart or things like that
    Jul 22, 2015 2:54 PM - Mike Glass: yup
Jul 22, 2015 2:55 PM - Mike Glass: for the ones on amazon you do have to pull apart
Jul 22, 2015 2:55 PM - BryZad: Might just have to hold out to aug
Jul 22, 2015 2:56 PM - BryZad: Don't have the tinker time atm
Jul 22, 2015 2:59 PM - BryZad: Having the printer down now is putting me behind atm
Jul 22, 2015 3:01 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah i'd just get it working while you wait
    Jul 22, 2015 3:06 PM - Mike Kelly: http://imgur.com/a/7bAY3 omg *drools*

Jul 22, 2015 3:09 PM - Stephen Capistron: why would you put tools on a kitchen table
Jul 22, 2015 3:10 PM - Stephen Capistron: that is far too nice to be a work bench

Jul 22, 2015 3:29 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah they said something about paying me but apparently they ran to mexico or something idunno
Jul 22, 2015 3:30 PM - Mike Kelly: i think they thought they hung up so i heard them laughing about something and saying "those kickstarter idiots"

Jul 22, 2015 3:39 PM - Stephen Capistron: Start a kickstarter for it so you can get the tools to cut the parts and injection molded the pieces that are needed. Promise to send some % of profit back to the open source community and / or offer printers to schools
Jul 22, 2015 3:42 PM - donhuevo: Tiko is going places
    Jul 22, 2015 3:42 PM - Mike Kelly: genius!

Jul 22, 2015 3:53 PM - Stephen Capistron: There is a eustathios design in the public space of OnShape
Jul 22, 2015 3:58 PM - Stephen Capistron: You could offer a super premium option where the only thing
Jul 22, 2015 3:59 PM - Stephen Capistron: ... Things that are plastic are those that have to be. Everything else would be milled aluminum
Jul 22, 2015 4:33 PM - Bradf80: So apparently the hairspray I was using (even though it had vinyl in it and was higher end) isn't as good as cheap 'ol $2 a can aquanet. That stuff holds way better on ABS!
Jul 22, 2015 4:34 PM - donhuevo: if I remember, there are two magic chemicals you're looking for in a good bed adhesive

    Jul 22, 2015 5:44 PM - daniel871: I'm running it on the Robo's Wade.
Jul 22, 2015 5:44 PM - toy: try cutting a piece of tubing about 3 inches... and run the filament by hand down it
    Jul 22, 2015 5:44 PM - jbigler1986: Meh. Stick v6 and .8 nozzle
Jul 22, 2015 5:45 PM - daniel871: Thats what I just did and it clogged as I was feeding filament in by hand.
Jul 22, 2015 5:45 PM - Printed Solid: is your heatsink fan working?
Jul 22, 2015 5:45 PM - toy: hmm... everything tight right?
Jul 22, 2015 5:45 PM - Printed Solid: on all the time?
    Jul 22, 2015 5:45 PM - daniel871: Yes.
Jul 22, 2015 5:46 PM - toy: might be defective if it jams when u feed it by hand
Jul 22, 2015 5:46 PM - daniel871: To both. Brand new PTFE seated in the heat break and tge heat sink reinstalled.
Jul 22, 2015 5:46 PM - toy: maybe your temp sensor is off?
Jul 22, 2015 5:46 PM - Printed Solid: Did you assemble it so the thermistor hole is towards the nozzle?
    Jul 22, 2015 5:47 PM - daniel871: Yes.
Jul 22, 2015 5:47 PM - Printed Solid: lol. we're thinking the same thing.
Jul 22, 2015 5:47 PM - Printed Solid: Did you go from stock hexagon over to this?
    Jul 22, 2015 5:47 PM - daniel871: No. Hex to v6 to this.
Jul 22, 2015 5:48 PM - toy: does that require a change in the firmware ?
Jul 22, 2015 5:48 PM - Printed Solid: ok. temps do need to be quite a bit lower than with the hex or v6 due to the long melt zone.
    Jul 22, 2015 5:48 PM - daniel871: Stud thermistor.
Jul 22, 2015 5:48 PM - toy: i can melt pla at 175-180 with the volcano
Jul 22, 2015 5:49 PM - daniel871: I know that. Been printing PET things with the volcano just fine.
    Jul 22, 2015 5:49 PM - toy: anything around 185 leaves strings
Jul 22, 2015 5:49 PM - Printed Solid: stud thermistor and atill on stock thermistor yable, right?
    Jul 22, 2015 5:49 PM - daniel871: Yes.
    Jul 22, 2015 5:49 PM - Printed Solid: hm
Jul 22, 2015 5:49 PM - daniel871: I havent changed any wiring for the heaters or fans.
    Jul 22, 2015 5:50 PM - Printed Solid: seasoning?
Jul 22, 2015 5:50 PM - toy: i need to get a temp guage btw to double check the temp against what repetier reports
    Jul 22, 2015 5:50 PM - Printed Solid: it won't match.
Jul 22, 2015 5:50 PM - daniel871: Attempted that this evening and got the immediate clog.
Jul 22, 2015 5:50 PM - toy: where is it clogging?
    Jul 22, 2015 5:50 PM - toy: down stem?
Jul 22, 2015 5:51 PM - toy: as it goes into the heater block?
Jul 22, 2015 5:51 PM - daniel871: I'd have to take it apart again to find out.
Jul 22, 2015 5:51 PM - Printed Solid: How confident are you that you have the PTFE cut square and seated well?
Jul 22, 2015 5:51 PM - toy: i was getting jams right as it entered the heating block
Jul 22, 2015 5:52 PM - toy: use a razor blade to cut your ptfe
    Jul 22, 2015 5:52 PM - daniel871: It's a new piece.
Jul 22, 2015 5:52 PM - donhuevo: I chew it off like licorice
Jul 22, 2015 5:52 PM - Printed Solid: it doesn't matter. some of them are not cut perfectly.
Jul 22, 2015 5:53 PM - toy: i use a razor blade and chamfer the insides a little
    Jul 22, 2015 5:53 PM - Printed Solid: that's a good idea.
Jul 22, 2015 5:53 PM - toy: seems to help
    Jul 22, 2015 5:54 PM - Printed Solid: http://www.toybuilderlabs.com/blogs/news/18002432-gaps-in-bowden-tube-ptfe-insert
Jul 22, 2015 5:54 PM - toy: btw printed im down to about 8 rolls lol
Jul 22, 2015 5:54 PM - Printed Solid: nice. let me know if you need more. I don't have much of a color selection.
Jul 22, 2015 5:54 PM - Printed Solid: I'm keeping those little spools on hand for special requests.
Jul 22, 2015 5:54 PM - toy: i will... i think i will get some abs from your pretty soon, my niece needs a new fairy garden
Jul 22, 2015 5:54 PM - donhuevo: so what is this new dissolvable material?
Jul 22, 2015 5:55 PM - daniel871: I'm just going to wait until the v6 kits I ordered for the bowden setup come in and I can do some truly clean assemblies.
Jul 22, 2015 5:55 PM - Printed Solid: daniel, the other thing to check is that the nozzle and heat break are well secured together.
Jul 22, 2015 5:56 PM - Printed Solid: I don't have any ABS. going to start offering toybuilder material though.
Jul 22, 2015 5:56 PM - daniel871: Everything was done same as any time I change the nozzle.
Jul 22, 2015 5:56 PM - Printed Solid: as soon as I build the page.
Jul 22, 2015 5:56 PM - Printed Solid: hm. have you tried browsing the E3D forums? See if anyone else has a similar issue?
Jul 22, 2015 5:57 PM - daniel871: Heat up, final tightening, allow to cool, except instead of loading filament I went to season it with short strips.
Jul 22, 2015 5:57 PM - toy: daniel take off the heat exchanger and stem and feed it directly into the heating block
    Jul 22, 2015 5:57 PM - daniel871: Short = 10" so I could pull it back out.
Jul 22, 2015 5:58 PM - daniel871: Not tonight. I'm not working in the dark while the power is out.
Jul 22, 2015 5:58 PM - toy: maybe your fan is not running correctly
Jul 22, 2015 5:58 PM - toy: and the heat exchanger is getting to warm
Jul 22, 2015 5:58 PM - Printed Solid: report back when you can. I'll certainly get you squared away if you can figure out that it is a parts issue.
Jul 22, 2015 5:59 PM - Printed Solid: ya. I agree. that seems like a highly likely potential cause.
Jul 22, 2015 5:59 PM - toy: i think my problem with jamming is from my bondtech extruder
Jul 22, 2015 6:00 PM - toy: seems like im having a friction problem
Jul 22, 2015 6:01 PM - Printed Solid: like it's deforming the material too much going into the bowden?
Jul 22, 2015 6:01 PM - toy: extra set of teeth marks
Jul 22, 2015 6:01 PM - Printed Solid: 1.75mm bowden has quite a lot of clearance.
Jul 22, 2015 6:02 PM - Printed Solid: you can put some oil in the bowden tube.
Jul 22, 2015 6:02 PM - Printed Solid: is it with any filament or just those little spools?
Jul 22, 2015 6:02 PM - toy: im having bondtech ship me a working good setup to test....
Jul 22, 2015 6:03 PM - toy: little spools.... i havent tried anything else yet
Jul 22, 2015 6:03 PM - toy: and my jamming happens when i try to run 70mm/sec or faster
Jul 22, 2015 6:03 PM - toy: or with long bowden runs
Jul 22, 2015 6:03 PM - donhuevo: are those little spools coiled more tightly than normal spools?
Jul 22, 2015 6:03 PM - toy: it will pop the bowden tube right out of the press fit connector
Jul 22, 2015 6:04 PM - Printed Solid: You should try something else. yes. they are wound more tightly and they also don't have stellar diameter control.
Jul 22, 2015 6:04 PM - Printed Solid: so, you could be hitting high spots.
Jul 22, 2015 6:04 PM - Printed Solid: sounds like you are probably on to the right solution.
Jul 22, 2015 6:04 PM - Printed Solid: All those have been bowden issues on the ultimaker.
Jul 22, 2015 6:04 PM - donhuevo: the tighter they're wound the harder it is for the bendy filament to get through the not so bent bowden tube
Jul 22, 2015 6:05 PM - toy: ive checked the OD on the filament periodically and found it to be under 1.85
Jul 22, 2015 6:05 PM - toy: and the tubing is around 1.95ish
Jul 22, 2015 6:06 PM - Printed Solid: You could still be getting some higher spots. I bet you're on the right track. You may just need to run better filament on that setup.

Jul 22, 2015 6:06 PM - toy: oh.. and printed on some spools it looks like someone tried to fuse 2 filaments together...lol
Jul 22, 2015 6:06 PM - Printed Solid: yeah. I know. There's a reason I'm not stocking it anymore and I gave you such a good deal.
Jul 22, 2015 6:06 PM - Printed Solid: I think it is perfect for kids camp type things running short prints.
Jul 22, 2015 6:06 PM - Printed Solid: not for long prints or critical parts.
Jul 22, 2015 6:06 PM - toy: for what im doing it is perfect
Jul 22, 2015 6:07 PM - toy: a couple reprints are not gonna kill me lol
Jul 22, 2015 6:07 PM - Printed Solid: good. I have a friend who is doing the same thing with the same filament.
Jul 22, 2015 6:07 PM - toy: the kids love the glow in dark btw
Jul 22, 2015 6:08 PM - toy: hmm i might have to buy up the rest of your stock for next year lol
Jul 22, 2015 6:15 PM - Stephen Capistron: I had some initial trouble setting up the volcano with pla
Jul 22, 2015 6:16 PM - Stephen Capistron: I was way too hot and heat was creeping up to the top of the heat break inside the sink and the filament would melt on contact
    Jul 22, 2015 6:17 PM - toy: what temp do u run?
Jul 22, 2015 6:17 PM - Stephen Capistron: I had to drop the temperature way down
Jul 22, 2015 6:18 PM - Stephen Capistron: I have not used pla since the initial setup, but I think 175 was okay
Jul 22, 2015 6:19 PM - Stephen Capistron: I just had the whole hot end sitting on the bench wired up and fed it filament by hand to make sure that it was working right before installing it
Jul 22, 2015 6:21 PM - Stephen Capistron: Toy,you need to make a filament ironer to work the kinks out before it gets pulled in by the extruder
Jul 22, 2015 6:58 PM - Stephen Capistron: So I'm pretty sure that MakerGeeks screens their reviews. I submitted a review critical of their filament and it is still not up. Nor did I get a response.
Jul 22, 2015 7:09 PM - Mike Kelly: computer rebooted for some reason, really need to get in the habit of loading onto SD
    Jul 22, 2015 7:22 PM - Mike Kelly: [IMG]
    Jul 22, 2015 7:22 PM - bamhm182: So I've got a new alarm clock song
    Jul 22, 2015 7:23 PM - bamhm182:

Jul 22, 2015 7:23 PM - bamhm182: Not sure if that is going to be accessible...
    Jul 22, 2015 7:24 PM - Mike Kelly:
Jul 22, 2015 7:24 PM - Mike Kelly: can't take someone with a rat tail seriously
Jul 22, 2015 7:25 PM - Mike Kelly: not bad
Jul 22, 2015 7:27 PM - bamhm182: Yeah, haha. I have no idea what Shia is doing these days, but his Just Do It thing is keeping me entertained
Jul 22, 2015 7:28 PM - bamhm182: What are you printing? Another squirrel?
Jul 22, 2015 7:28 PM - donhuevo: Shia may have ruined his career with Nymphomaniac
Jul 22, 2015 7:30 PM - Mike Kelly: aria dragon
    Jul 22, 2015 7:30 PM - bamhm182: I may have found a better one
Jul 22, 2015 7:31 PM - bamhm182: Oh, sweet, you squirrel turned out well too. It has an LED in it, right?
    Jul 22, 2015 7:31 PM - Mike Kelly: it's on an iphone
Jul 22, 2015 7:33 PM - Mike Glass: so how is the ribbing?
Jul 22, 2015 7:34 PM - Mike Glass: looks pretty clean
Jul 22, 2015 7:35 PM - Mike Glass: have not heard anything from Harry yet.
Jul 22, 2015 7:36 PM - Mike Kelly: i get some like ghosting or something but it's really faint and hard to tell for sure
Jul 22, 2015 7:37 PM - Mike Glass: ringing probably
Jul 22, 2015 7:37 PM - Mike Glass: I get that on faster printing
Jul 22, 2015 7:38 PM - Mike Glass: did you change acceleration on the 1.7
    Jul 22, 2015 7:43 PM - Mike Kelly: nope
Jul 22, 2015 8:20 PM - bamhm182: So with these Z-Axis upgrades, we're going to have to change out Z steps, right?
    Jul 22, 2015 8:25 PM - Mike Kelly: yes
Jul 22, 2015 8:25 PM - Mike Kelly: its 800 steps per mm
Jul 22, 2015 8:26 PM - bamhm182: So we need to change the value from 2560 to 800?
    Jul 22, 2015 8:26 PM - Mike Kelly: yes
    Jul 22, 2015 8:28 PM - bamhm182: Awesome, thanks
    Jul 22, 2015 8:28 PM - Mike Kelly: mmmhm
Jul 22, 2015 8:31 PM - bamhm182: Dragon is starting to get cut off on the camera
Jul 22, 2015 8:31 PM - Mike Kelly: yup need to go tweak the angle
Jul 22, 2015 8:33 PM - Mike Glass: how fast you printing
Jul 22, 2015 8:35 PM - Mike Glass: Mk has left the garage
Jul 22, 2015 8:38 PM - Mike Glass: MK wanna make a z axis stabilizer that also mounts to the lead screw screws?
    Jul 22, 2015 8:46 PM - Mike Kelly: eh?
    Jul 22, 2015 8:46 PM - Mike Kelly: whatever simplify3d defaults with
    Jul 22, 2015 8:46 PM - Mike Kelly: i think 60
Jul 22, 2015 8:47 PM - Mike Kelly: some of the overhangs aren't too great
Jul 22, 2015 8:47 PM - Mike Kelly: not sure what is wrong
Jul 22, 2015 8:54 PM - bamhm182: Out of all the things on this 3d printer, the thing that baffles me the most is calibrating stepper drivers
Jul 22, 2015 8:54 PM - bamhm182: They're either too low and the motors don't move, or they're too high and they overheat...
Jul 22, 2015 8:55 PM - bamhm182: I think I'm going to calibrate them so the motors are happy, and then have that big ass 70 CFM fan on them so they're cool
Jul 22, 2015 8:55 PM - bamhm182: Only problem is getting it to print out some sort of mount for the fan. >_<

Jul 22, 2015 9:03 PM - bamhm182: I'm going to laugh so hard if I've been doing this backwards...
Jul 22, 2015 9:04 PM - bamhm182: I was thinking that counter clockwise turns them down and clockwise turns them up. So I think I may have been giving it a ton of voltage, then slowly decreasing it until the motor starts to move...
Jul 22, 2015 9:05 PM - Mike Glass: printing the new z for the mpcnc
    Jul 22, 2015 9:08 PM - bamhm182: Yup, I'm an idiot
Jul 22, 2015 9:08 PM - bamhm182: Been fighting the stepper drivers for like 2 months, then I just found out that I've been calibrating them backwards
    Jul 22, 2015 9:08 PM - bamhm182: Well, lessons learned...
    Jul 22, 2015 9:09 PM - bamhm182: How's your MP CNC going, MG?
Jul 22, 2015 9:13 PM - Mike Glass: great, been cutting some metal lately
    Jul 22, 2015 9:16 PM - bamhm182: Nice!
Jul 22, 2015 9:18 PM - Mike Glass: this new part is suppose to really help stabilize better.
    Jul 22, 2015 9:32 PM - bamhm182: Nice
Jul 22, 2015 9:33 PM - Mike Glass: what are you up too
Jul 22, 2015 9:36 PM - bamhm182: Still just been trying to get this printer to work like I want it to
Jul 22, 2015 9:37 PM - bamhm182: The biggest issue I've been having is the stepper drivers that I just figured out. Can't believe it took me like two months to find out that I was turning the pots the wrong way. >_<
Jul 22, 2015 9:37 PM - Mike Glass: I just use a multimeter to tune my steppers
Jul 22, 2015 9:41 PM - bamhm182: I am so shaky that I was afraid I was going to short something when I was trying to use my multimeter
Jul 22, 2015 9:41 PM - bamhm182: I bought a breadboard so I could try that approach again, but since I figured it out, I guess I don't really need it
Jul 22, 2015 9:42 PM - Mike Glass: so do you know what voltage you have it at now>
    Jul 22, 2015 9:44 PM - bamhm182: No
    Jul 22, 2015 9:44 PM - bamhm182: I haven't actually got it in yet
Jul 22, 2015 9:45 PM - bamhm182: Bought it on Amazon along with a bench power supply. Going to get here Friday
Jul 22, 2015 9:46 PM - bamhm182: Do you know what you've got your stepper drivers at?
Jul 22, 2015 9:47 PM - Mike Glass: I will on friday when I do my upgrade
Jul 22, 2015 9:47 PM - Mike Glass: on my cnc with the 8825 drivers I have .285 for a single and .582 for dual steppers
    Jul 22, 2015 9:48 PM - bamhm182: The Z-Axis upgrade?
    Jul 22, 2015 9:51 PM - Mike Glass: yep
Jul 22, 2015 9:51 PM - Mike Glass: and power supply fan replacement with a quieter fan
    Jul 22, 2015 9:52 PM - Mike Glass: then a new carriage with bowden when I get a V6
    Jul 22, 2015 10:00 PM - bamhm182: Nice!
Jul 22, 2015 10:25 PM - bamhm182: Dragon looks good from my end, MK
Jul 22, 2015 10:39 PM - bamhm182: Ugh, so many problems when you start heavily modifying 3D printers. Couldn't figure out why my printer wasn't extruding. I had changed the PLA temp to match the 195 that Simplify3D had, but I didn't realize that the minimum extrusion temperature as set by the firmware was 195 as well
Jul 22, 2015 10:39 PM - Noah ng: I put in a new thermistor today because my old one broke now my heater shuts off after the first layer
    Jul 22, 2015 10:39 PM - Noah ng: i dunno whats wrong
Jul 22, 2015 10:40 PM - bamhm182: Does it seem like it's reporting the correct temperature?
    Jul 22, 2015 10:40 PM - Noah ng: yeah
Jul 22, 2015 10:41 PM - Noah ng: it records correct temp and i can preheat it and it will stay preheated
Jul 22, 2015 10:41 PM - Noah ng: but right when that first layer is done the temp just dropped and print stopped
    Jul 22, 2015 10:41 PM - bamhm182: Hmn... That's weird...
Jul 22, 2015 10:41 PM - Noah ng: i thought it was bad connection
Jul 22, 2015 10:42 PM - Noah ng: so i soldered the wires together but nothing helped
Jul 22, 2015 10:42 PM - bamhm182: I feel like that's something one of the other guys would know right away, but they're not on
Jul 22, 2015 10:43 PM - Noah ng: tried so much tried reinstalling firmware, soldering pins, changing slicers
Jul 22, 2015 10:43 PM - Noah ng: cura, simplify, and matter cont are all doing the same thing it is really weird
Jul 22, 2015 10:44 PM - bamhm182: Have you looked at the definition for the thermistor in the firmware?
    Jul 22, 2015 10:45 PM - bamhm182: #define TEMP_SENSOR_0 1 //robo
Jul 22, 2015 10:45 PM - bamhm182: Maybe it isn't the exact same type of thermistor that the robo originally used, it's weird that it would work at all if that were the case
Jul 22, 2015 10:46 PM - Noah ng: yeah i first used the e3d thermistor and that worked fine
Jul 22, 2015 10:46 PM - Noah ng: but its a different one
    Jul 22, 2015 10:49 PM - Noah ng: http://www.ebay.com/itm/E3D-version...nd-/321490496841?_trksid=p2141725.m3641.l6368
Jul 22, 2015 10:51 PM - bamhm182: I guess if you're out of things to try, you can try changing that setting to 6
    Jul 22, 2015 10:51 PM - bamhm182: // 6 is 100k EPCOS - Not as accurate as table 1 (created using a fluke thermocouple) (4.7k pullup)
Jul 22, 2015 10:52 PM - bamhm182: "1 x Hex Housed Modular Thermistor assembled with PTFE tubing, JST female connector and NTC EPCOS B57560G104F 100k Thermistor."
    Jul 22, 2015 10:52 PM - bamhm182: Says it's an EPCOS 100k Thermistor
Jul 22, 2015 10:53 PM - Noah ng: what setting should i change
Jul 22, 2015 10:53 PM - Noah ng: to six
    Jul 22, 2015 10:54 PM - bamhm182: #define TEMP_SENSOR_0 1 //robo
    Jul 22, 2015 10:55 PM - bamhm182: Change it so it says #define TEMP_SENSOR_0 6 //robo
    Jul 22, 2015 10:55 PM - bamhm182: That's in the Configuration.h file
    Jul 22, 2015 10:55 PM - Noah ng: k thanks
Jul 22, 2015 10:55 PM - Noah ng: trying it rn
    Jul 22, 2015 10:55 PM - bamhm182: Also, a few lines down, check this
    Jul 22, 2015 10:56 PM - bamhm182: #define HEATER_0_MAXTEMP 290 //robo
Jul 22, 2015 10:57 PM - Noah ng: there are two more lines under the _0 1 do i need to touch those?
    Jul 22, 2015 10:57 PM - Noah ng: temp_sensor_1 0 and
    Jul 22, 2015 10:57 PM - Noah ng: temp_sensor_2 0
    Jul 22, 2015 11:00 PM - bamhm182: Nope
    Jul 22, 2015 11:00 PM - bamhm182: Basically, those are just extras
    Jul 22, 2015 11:00 PM - Noah ng: gotcha
Jul 22, 2015 11:00 PM - Noah ng: lets see
Jul 22, 2015 11:01 PM - bamhm182: It's got 4 thermistors set up, the first one, 0, is the one on the hot end. The 4th one, BED, is the one on the bed. The other two could be added if you had more thermistors, but the robo doesn't by default, so they're set to 0, not used.
Jul 22, 2015 11:05 PM - Noah ng: is there any way i could set the extruder to a certain temp and leave it there without any interference
Jul 22, 2015 11:09 PM - Noah ng: it did IT AGAIN this is so annoying every time it gets done with the first layer the exturder just turns off
    Jul 22, 2015 11:14 PM - bamhm182: Dang...
Jul 22, 2015 11:14 PM - bamhm182: You could just whip up some fake gcode
Jul 22, 2015 11:15 PM - bamhm182: Just tell it to set it up like it normally would, then just run the extruder for a while without any filament actually going through it
    Jul 22, 2015 11:19 PM - bamhm182: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_ZMGg7zgQtGcW9kOFZ1ejQ3SUk/view?usp=sharing
Jul 22, 2015 11:19 PM - bamhm182: I think that should set everything up, then run the extruder for a while
    Jul 22, 2015 11:20 PM - Noah ng: k sounds good
Jul 22, 2015 11:20 PM - bamhm182: Is it exactly when you finish the first layer every time?
Jul 22, 2015 11:20 PM - Noah ng: yeah its strange
Jul 22, 2015 11:21 PM - Noah ng: even different objects its just bam first layer is done it shuts off
    Jul 22, 2015 11:21 PM - bamhm182: That's so weird...
Jul 22, 2015 11:21 PM - Noah ng: then communication spams m999 reset
Jul 22, 2015 11:21 PM - Noah ng: perfect first layer
Jul 22, 2015 11:22 PM - Noah ng: i wish there was some way i could just tell it to stay at 210c no matter what
Jul 22, 2015 11:24 PM - Noah ng: HEY ITS WORKING
Jul 22, 2015 11:24 PM - bamhm182: I wonder if you have the thermistor plugged into the right spot
    Jul 22, 2015 11:25 PM - bamhm182: Really, on what?
Jul 22, 2015 11:25 PM - Noah ng: i literally just changed from pla to abs in simplify and its staying at 230
Jul 22, 2015 11:25 PM - Noah ng: it might of been that 210 was to low
Jul 22, 2015 11:25 PM - Noah ng: i have 0 clue why its working now
Jul 22, 2015 11:26 PM - Noah ng: might be a little to hot for pla but its working
    Jul 22, 2015 11:27 PM - bamhm182: That's weird....
    Jul 22, 2015 11:27 PM - bamhm182: But hey, it's working!
Jul 22, 2015 11:28 PM - Noah ng: Yeah finally
Jul 22, 2015 11:28 PM - Noah ng: after 2 days and like 30 failed prints
    Jul 22, 2015 11:28 PM - Noah ng: HAHA
    Jul 22, 2015 11:29 PM - bamhm182: I know how that goes, haha
Jul 22, 2015 11:29 PM - bamhm182: I'm letting this current calibration pyramid finish up, not because I need it to, but just because I want it to be the first successful print I've had in a week or so. :p
Jul 22, 2015 11:30 PM - Noah ng: haha nice what are you printing on?

    Jul 22, 2015 11:30 PM - Noah ng: robo
Jul 22, 2015 11:30 PM - bamhm182: Last week I printed one that was my first successful print in about a month or so
    Jul 22, 2015 11:30 PM - bamhm182: Yeah, the robo
Jul 22, 2015 11:30 PM - bamhm182: It's always my fault that it breaks, and it's always my laziness that prevents it from getting fixed sooner
    Jul 22, 2015 11:30 PM - Noah ng: lol
Jul 22, 2015 11:30 PM - Noah ng: thats me
Jul 22, 2015 11:31 PM - bamhm182: With the exception of this last set of issues that I was having. That was my stupidity in that I was trying to calibrate the stepper drivers backwards. >_<
Jul 22, 2015 11:31 PM - Noah ng: haha are did u make any mods to your robo?
    Jul 22, 2015 11:31 PM - bamhm182: A handful, yeah
    Jul 22, 2015 11:32 PM - Noah ng: nice i only put in e3d
Jul 22, 2015 11:32 PM - Noah ng: didnt want to break anything else
Jul 22, 2015 11:32 PM - bamhm182: The biggest ones that come to mind at the moment are the Z-axis motor replacements, the stepper driver replacements, and the screent
    Jul 22, 2015 11:32 PM - bamhm182: I'm still using the stock hotend
Jul 22, 2015 11:32 PM - Noah ng: i found out that its pretty good compared to e3d
    Jul 22, 2015 11:33 PM - bamhm182: I hate the little silicone housing bit
    Jul 22, 2015 11:33 PM - Noah ng: YES
    Jul 22, 2015 11:33 PM - Noah ng: i ripped it off
Jul 22, 2015 11:33 PM - bamhm182: Mine tore almost right away, so it's just kinda on there, but I haven't gotten around to replacing it yet
Jul 22, 2015 11:33 PM - Noah ng: i got too mad at it
Jul 22, 2015 11:34 PM - bamhm182: It's not a bad hotend aside from that. If they just had a thermistor that could connect ANY other way than just sitting there with pressure
Jul 22, 2015 11:34 PM - Noah ng: are you going to look into getting the r2
Jul 22, 2015 11:34 PM - bamhm182: Was kind of thinking about it
Jul 22, 2015 11:34 PM - Noah ng: it looks like a big upgrade
Jul 22, 2015 11:34 PM - bamhm182: If I did though, I'd probably end up getting the mini just because I'm cheap
Jul 22, 2015 11:35 PM - Noah ng: much bigger platform, enclosed, dual ext
Jul 22, 2015 11:35 PM - Noah ng: yeah haha i was looking foward to getting r2 and then i saw price 1500-2000 and was like
Jul 22, 2015 11:35 PM - bamhm182: Well, so I say I'm cheap. I spend way too much money all the time
Jul 22, 2015 11:35 PM - Noah ng: uhhh dont think so
Jul 22, 2015 11:36 PM - bamhm182: Honestly, what's probably going to happen is that I'm going to say "Oh I don't need it" over and over and that'll slowly turn into "Hmn... Maybe I need it" and it will eventually turn into "I NEED THIS!" and there will be a $1500 mark on my credit card and a new 3d printer in my garage
    Jul 22, 2015 11:36 PM - bamhm182: Yeah, haha
Jul 22, 2015 11:37 PM - Noah ng: lol hey your getting what you pay for
Jul 22, 2015 11:37 PM - bamhm182: I mean, ALL of 2014, I was really wanting a 3d printer. It took me until October to finally bite the bullet
Jul 22, 2015 11:37 PM - Noah ng: robo has been a pretty solid company
Jul 22, 2015 11:37 PM - Noah ng: so far
    Jul 22, 2015 11:37 PM - bamhm182: Agreed
Jul 22, 2015 11:38 PM - Noah ng: a few thing broke on my printer, emailed them right away and i had free replacments in up to 2 weeks
    Jul 22, 2015 11:38 PM - bamhm182: Don't regret buying my Robo for a minute
Jul 22, 2015 11:38 PM - bamhm182: I had the hot end fan go out and they were super quick about replacing it
Jul 22, 2015 11:39 PM - bamhm182: $800 for the build volume and ease of use we get isn't bad either
Jul 22, 2015 11:39 PM - Noah ng: ill tell yah i bought a davinci
Jul 22, 2015 11:39 PM - Noah ng: before my robo
Jul 22, 2015 11:39 PM - Noah ng: never again
Jul 22, 2015 11:39 PM - bamhm182: I got mine during the last week of October and managed to print out a skull shot glass for my friend's 21st birthday on 1NOV
Jul 22, 2015 11:40 PM - Noah ng: haha nice
Jul 22, 2015 11:40 PM - bamhm182: I thought that I was going to have a super hard time getting it all set up and figured out
Jul 22, 2015 11:40 PM - Noah ng: literally plop and print
    Jul 22, 2015 11:40 PM - bamhm182: More or less
Jul 22, 2015 11:40 PM - Noah ng: yeah untill you run into problems
Jul 22, 2015 11:41 PM - Noah ng: then its more like fix and print and fix and print and print and print and print
Jul 22, 2015 11:41 PM - bamhm182: There was a bit of a learning curve coupled with a handful of random issues with Matter Controller, but I ended up buying Simplify 3D and never had a slicer complaint again, haha
    Jul 22, 2015 11:42 PM - bamhm182: Yeah, haha
Jul 22, 2015 11:42 PM - Noah ng: same here
Jul 22, 2015 11:42 PM - Noah ng: im on simplify
Jul 22, 2015 11:42 PM - bamhm182: More recently it's been more like fix, print, fix, break, fix, print, break, break, break, fix, pr..., fix, print print
Jul 22, 2015 11:42 PM - Noah ng: yeah cura did me good for a little
Jul 22, 2015 11:43 PM - bamhm182: Same here, figured this hobby isn't going away any time soon, so $140 for the "best" software is a drop in the bucket
Jul 22, 2015 11:43 PM - bamhm182: Plus I was tired of the support being as much of a part of the print as the print itself was
Jul 22, 2015 11:43 PM - Noah ng: yeah especially that they are constantly giving free updates
Jul 22, 2015 11:44 PM - bamhm182: Yeah, my only complaint is that the update process could be a little smoother in my opinion
Jul 22, 2015 11:44 PM - Noah ng: yeah i found it really weird
Jul 22, 2015 11:44 PM - bamhm182: I'm always surprised in this day and age when upgrading a program means going to the website, redownloading it, and basically reinstalling it
Jul 22, 2015 11:44 PM - Noah ng: having to log in and download another version
Jul 22, 2015 11:45 PM - bamhm182: So when did you get your robo?
Jul 22, 2015 11:46 PM - Noah ng: around december
Jul 22, 2015 11:46 PM - Noah ng: are you on here often?
    Jul 22, 2015 11:49 PM - bamhm182: I come and go
    Jul 22, 2015 11:49 PM - bamhm182: When I'm on here, I'm on here daily, then I'll disappear for a few weeks
Jul 22, 2015 11:50 PM - Noah ng: gotcha you play any computer games? steam or anthing
    Jul 22, 2015 11:54 PM - bamhm182: I've been accused of cataloging steam a few times, haha
Jul 22, 2015 11:55 PM - Noah ng: lol so i guess not
    Jul 22, 2015 11:55 PM - bamhm182: Last time I checked, my account was over $6500
    Jul 22, 2015 11:55 PM - bamhm182: Playing the games I own though, not so much. :p
Jul 22, 2015 11:56 PM - bamhm182: Bought a gaming computer just because despite all the awesome nerd stuff I own, my primary computer was a laptop with a broken screen that I found and hooked up to a free ~15 inch VGA monitor
    Jul 22, 2015 11:56 PM - bamhm182: You play a lot of steam?
    Jul 22, 2015 11:56 PM - Noah ng: haha
Jul 22, 2015 11:56 PM - Noah ng: do u play any games or no
    Jul 22, 2015 11:58 PM - bamhm182: Not as much as I should
Jul 22, 2015 11:59 PM - Noah ng: ever played counter strike
    Jul 22, 2015 11:59 PM - bamhm182: For like 5 minutes
Jul 22, 2015 11:59 PM - bamhm182: I'm terrible at any sort of games that require reflexes.
    Jul 22, 2015 11:59 PM - Noah ng: haha
Jul 23, 2015 12:00 AM - Noah ng: yeah im on alot
Jul 23, 2015 12:00 AM - Noah ng: do u really have 6500 on your steam
    Jul 23, 2015 12:01 AM - bamhm182: https://steamdb.info/calculator/76561197997795932/?cc=us
    Jul 23, 2015 12:01 AM - bamhm182: $6385
    Jul 23, 2015 12:01 AM - bamhm182: Guess I was a little off
    Jul 23, 2015 12:01 AM - Noah ng: omg
    Jul 23, 2015 12:01 AM - bamhm182: Haha, yeah
Jul 23, 2015 12:01 AM - Noah ng: how do u have so much
Jul 23, 2015 12:02 AM - bamhm182: I blame the sales and things like indiegala or humble bundle
Jul 23, 2015 12:03 AM - Noah ng: do you have alot in your steam wallet
Jul 23, 2015 12:03 AM - Noah ng: or is that all in games
    Jul 23, 2015 12:03 AM - bamhm182: Nope
    Jul 23, 2015 12:03 AM - bamhm182: That's all games
    Jul 23, 2015 12:03 AM - Noah ng: holy
    Jul 23, 2015 12:03 AM - Noah ng: jeseee
    Jul 23, 2015 12:03 AM - bamhm182: I haven't spent anywhere near that much though
    Jul 23, 2015 12:04 AM - bamhm182: Maybe like $2000
Jul 23, 2015 12:04 AM - Noah ng: how do u find that out
Jul 23, 2015 12:04 AM - Noah ng: what website is that

    Jul 23, 2015 12:05 AM - bamhm182: I found it a while ago, looking for it again
    Jul 23, 2015 12:06 AM - bamhm182: Total spent is $2,252.18
Jul 23, 2015 12:07 AM - bamhm182: If you go download a plugin called Enhanced Steam, which I recommend besides this feature, you can then log into steampowered.com and click on your username and Account Details and it will tell you how much you've spent
Jul 23, 2015 12:07 AM - bamhm182: It's probably a bit more than that since that doesn't tell you what you've spent on things like humble bundle
Jul 23, 2015 12:11 AM - bamhm182: Apparently I got my steam account 7 years ago, but I forget exactly when, so let's say 6 years ago, that's like $30 a month since I first logged into to download Portal for free... A lot, but it could be worse
    Jul 23, 2015 12:12 AM - bamhm182: Averages out to about $3 an hour
    Jul 23, 2015 4:36 AM - jbigler1986: morning
    Jul 23, 2015 4:51 AM - donhuevo: morning jb
    Jul 23, 2015 4:52 AM - jbigler1986: hows it going
Jul 23, 2015 4:52 AM - donhuevo: ask me again when I'm awake
Jul 23, 2015 4:52 AM - donhuevo: two sips into the first cup
    Jul 23, 2015 4:53 AM - donhuevo: what's the latest with you
    Jul 23, 2015 4:54 AM - jbigler1986: still no stuff yet
Jul 23, 2015 4:54 AM - donhuevo: what'd she say when you asked her where it was?
    Jul 23, 2015 4:54 AM - jbigler1986: attorney is filing that today
Jul 23, 2015 4:54 AM - jbigler1986: she was playing dumb at first. "i have no idea where your stuff is. I didn't touch it"
Jul 23, 2015 4:55 AM - jbigler1986: Then she said she would give it to me if I took her the kids.
    Jul 23, 2015 4:55 AM - donhuevo: wow
    Jul 23, 2015 4:56 AM - jbigler1986: i'm not bargaining with my kids. that's low
    Jul 23, 2015 4:57 AM - donhuevo: definitely
    Jul 23, 2015 4:58 AM - daniel871: Is that in writing in a text?
    Jul 23, 2015 4:58 AM - daniel871: Does the attorney have it?
Jul 23, 2015 4:59 AM - jbigler1986: no. unfortunately. it was on the phone
Jul 23, 2015 4:59 AM - donhuevo: so the NSA has it
    Jul 23, 2015 4:59 AM - jbigler1986: ha. yes
Jul 23, 2015 5:01 AM - jbigler1986: M3D micro printer looks need if you need small parts
Jul 23, 2015 5:10 AM - Stephen Capistron: If you end up with a different printer we'll still let you hang out here
Jul 23, 2015 5:11 AM - donhuevo: but you may have to take a little extra shit for it
    Jul 23, 2015 5:11 AM - jbigler1986: lol. yeah not sure if i want a different one
    Jul 23, 2015 5:11 AM - jbigler1986: XYZ. haha
Jul 23, 2015 5:12 AM - donhuevo: your printer was becoming less and less Robo every day so...
    Jul 23, 2015 5:12 AM - jbigler1986: that is true
Jul 23, 2015 5:12 AM - jbigler1986: what good alternatives are there though
Jul 23, 2015 5:13 AM - donhuevo: good? kits maybe
Jul 23, 2015 5:13 AM - Stephen Capistron: Print bot
    Jul 23, 2015 5:13 AM - Stephen Capistron: Folgertech
    Jul 23, 2015 5:14 AM - Stephen Capistron: Tiko
    Jul 23, 2015 5:14 AM - donhuevo: haha
    Jul 23, 2015 5:14 AM - donhuevo: yes!
    Jul 23, 2015 5:14 AM - jbigler1986: oh yeah. that folgertech was only like $400 wasn't it
    Jul 23, 2015 5:14 AM - donhuevo: 345
    Jul 23, 2015 5:14 AM - donhuevo: 99
    Jul 23, 2015 5:14 AM - jbigler1986: hell no on the tiko
Jul 23, 2015 5:15 AM - donhuevo: you would catch a lot of extra shit for that but not from me. I have faith in the Tiko
    Jul 23, 2015 5:16 AM - jbigler1986: i will look into the folgertech
Jul 23, 2015 5:16 AM - donhuevo: if you could find someone to buy one of your kidneys, maybe a berrybot
Jul 23, 2015 5:17 AM - Stephen Capistron: See me cnc delta kit
    Jul 23, 2015 5:17 AM - jbigler1986: lol
Jul 23, 2015 5:18 AM - Stephen Capistron: But then you are back north of a robo
Jul 23, 2015 5:23 AM - donhuevo: jb, do you know where your wife is staying now?
    Jul 23, 2015 5:23 AM - Mike Glass: morning
    Jul 23, 2015 5:23 AM - jbigler1986: i do not
Jul 23, 2015 5:23 AM - jbigler1986: not sure if she is staying at the house or elsewhere
Jul 23, 2015 5:24 AM - Mike Glass: probably her BF house
    Jul 23, 2015 5:24 AM - jbigler1986: probably
    Jul 23, 2015 5:24 AM - jbigler1986: i don't really care
Jul 23, 2015 5:24 AM - donhuevo: just thinking that wherever she is, that's where your printer is
Jul 23, 2015 5:25 AM - Mike Glass: to bad you didnt go home that day for a failed print and caught her in the action
Jul 23, 2015 5:26 AM - donhuevo: does she work?
Jul 23, 2015 5:26 AM - Stephen Capistron: Or better yet the camera falls off such that he saw it happen
    Jul 23, 2015 5:26 AM - Mike Glass: ohh
    Jul 23, 2015 5:27 AM - jbigler1986: she does work
Jul 23, 2015 5:27 AM - donhuevo: she wouldn't recognize MG. He could tail her and find out where she's staying
Jul 23, 2015 5:27 AM - Mike Glass: yea have the whole hose on camera, I would know what went down
Jul 23, 2015 5:27 AM - jbigler1986: i actually went home monday to start a print. thats when i found out
Jul 23, 2015 5:28 AM - Mike Glass: I would of busted down the door
Jul 23, 2015 5:28 AM - Mike Glass: or used the electronic keypad..lol
    Jul 23, 2015 5:29 AM - jbigler1986: i knew i should have printed a few bump keys
Jul 23, 2015 5:29 AM - Mike Glass: no hidden key in a fake rock?
Jul 23, 2015 5:30 AM - Mike Glass: we know thats where don puts his.
    Jul 23, 2015 5:30 AM - jbigler1986: nope :(
Jul 23, 2015 5:31 AM - donhuevo: I have a whole set of bump keys. they aren't as easy as everyone makes out
    Jul 23, 2015 5:32 AM - Mike Glass: I have a real set I keep at work.
Jul 23, 2015 5:32 AM - Stephen Capistron: I got the schalge punch code locks on both of our doors
Jul 23, 2015 5:32 AM - Stephen Capistron: The non -WiFi ones
    Jul 23, 2015 5:33 AM - Mike Glass: haha
Jul 23, 2015 5:33 AM - Stephen Capistron: Keep you mongrels from messing with my doors
    Jul 23, 2015 5:34 AM - jbigler1986: lol. boston here we come
Jul 23, 2015 5:34 AM - Stephen Capistron: I am bad with keys. I locked my wife and I out of our house like the third day we had owned it. Woops
Jul 23, 2015 5:35 AM - donhuevo: I'm gonna give you my hollow rock stephen
Jul 23, 2015 5:35 AM - jbigler1986: i'm gonna have like 50 sets of keys from now on
Jul 23, 2015 5:36 AM - Stephen Capistron: So now it is punch codes on both doors with the battery change intervals about a year apart so the odds of both batteries going dead is quite low
Jul 23, 2015 5:37 AM - donhuevo: I'd tell you to keep a house key in your safety deposit box but that thing takes keys too
    Jul 23, 2015 5:37 AM - daniel871: Haha, Waldo thinks the leadscrew upgrade isn't a good one.
Jul 23, 2015 5:37 AM - Stephen Capistron: For a while I'd keep like 3 keys to the office, one in each vehicle and then one I'd usually just keep on me
Jul 23, 2015 5:37 AM - jbigler1986: what? the lead screw upgrade is one of the best
Jul 23, 2015 5:38 AM - daniel871: See the thread asking for recommendations.
Jul 23, 2015 5:38 AM - Stephen Capistron: If you are not having trouble with the HfnC then it is not worth it
Jul 23, 2015 5:38 AM - daniel871: Problem there is, if you're an utter newbie to 3d Printing, how would you know any better?
Jul 23, 2015 5:38 AM - donhuevo: the noise reduction alone makes it worth it
Jul 23, 2015 5:38 AM - jbigler1986: HfnC is bound to give issues eventually
Jul 23, 2015 5:39 AM - Stephen Capistron: Agreed on all accounts, but if you are dumb and happy, stay that way
Jul 23, 2015 5:41 AM - jbigler1986: i could have fixed my HfnC but i figured if i was going to mess with them I might as well upgrade and not have to dict with them again
Jul 23, 2015 5:42 AM - Stephen Capistron: I got plenty of those in my head
Jul 23, 2015 5:43 AM - daniel871: I forgot about the safety enclosure, but I don't know how many people feel about that one around here.
Jul 23, 2015 5:44 AM - jbigler1986: meh. i hate abs smell too. so it's not just the warping
    Jul 23, 2015 5:45 AM - Mike Glass: interesting https://plus.google.com/+MarcSchönfleisch/posts/FyrU1sBEDhP
Jul 23, 2015 5:45 AM - Stephen Capistron: One thing I've found with abs is that if you print on the low end of the temperature range the smell is reduced
Jul 23, 2015 5:46 AM - Stephen Capistron: Is that angle iron, square tube,or some other extrusion
Jul 23, 2015 5:48 AM - Mike Glass: yea looks like cheap square tubing

    Jul 23, 2015 5:49 AM - donhuevo: it's that flat v rail from openbuilds
Jul 23, 2015 5:50 AM - donhuevo: I take that back. it's not from openbuilds
    Jul 23, 2015 5:50 AM - donhuevo: but it's a v wheel riding in it
Jul 23, 2015 5:50 AM - Mike Glass: here ya go JB http://makezine.com/2015/07/17/diy-...m_medium=googleplus&utm_campaign=sumome_share
Jul 23, 2015 5:52 AM - Mike Glass: THis looks kinda nice. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:936174
Jul 23, 2015 5:52 AM - Mike Glass: ok time to get in the shower and head to work
    Jul 23, 2015 6:00 AM - jbigler1986: ha. thats funny
Jul 23, 2015 6:01 AM - jbigler1986: Don what length of lead screws did you use
    Jul 23, 2015 6:02 AM - donhuevo: 300
Jul 23, 2015 6:08 AM - jbigler1986: "Just remember that quieter also means less air is being pushed through them, so bear that in mind while selecting replacement fans." from Waldo. lol
Jul 23, 2015 6:09 AM - donhuevo: hmmm... good to know
    Jul 23, 2015 6:09 AM - jbigler1986: that is not a true statement
    Jul 23, 2015 6:09 AM - donhuevo: I was being dictish
Jul 23, 2015 6:09 AM - daniel871: I'm getting less confident in testing that firmware every time he posts something like that.
    Jul 23, 2015 6:10 AM - jbigler1986: oh. i didn't pick up on that. lol
Jul 23, 2015 6:10 AM - donhuevo: ignore the cfm rating and judge a fan solely on it's sound
    Jul 23, 2015 6:10 AM - donhuevo: I like it
    Jul 23, 2015 6:11 AM - jbigler1986: yes
Jul 23, 2015 6:11 AM - Stephen Capistron: That is generally true, but the trade off on air flow and static pressure for sound is not that extreme
Jul 23, 2015 6:12 AM - daniel871: I haven't really done anything to the fans because the fan that is loud is the one in the power supply.
    Jul 23, 2015 6:12 AM - daniel871: Can't really mess with that one.
Jul 23, 2015 6:12 AM - daniel871: Or not as easily as the others
Jul 23, 2015 6:12 AM - jbigler1986: that one is loud as hell
Jul 23, 2015 6:12 AM - Stephen Capistron: The quiet version of a fan might have a through put that is 90 percent of its loud counter part
Jul 23, 2015 6:12 AM - donhuevo: it must be moving a ton of air
Jul 23, 2015 6:12 AM - daniel871: The rest of the fans I have to look at to tell if they're running.
Jul 23, 2015 6:13 AM - Stephen Capistron: One way a quiet fan can be better is if it uses magnetic bearings
Jul 23, 2015 6:14 AM - daniel871: More blades at a lower RPM can move the same CFM, right?
Jul 23, 2015 6:14 AM - daniel871: I usually just look at the noise and CFM ratings but haven't compared the actual mechanics.
Jul 23, 2015 6:14 AM - Stephen Capistron: If the blade geometry is right
Jul 23, 2015 6:16 AM - Stephen Capistron: I wonder how long of a bleed I could get out of my 30 gallon air compressor before it has to kick back on?
Jul 23, 2015 6:18 AM - daniel871: Depends on the pressure setting you have on the outgoing line vs. the pressure in the tank.
    Jul 23, 2015 6:18 AM - donhuevo: PV=nRT
Jul 23, 2015 6:18 AM - daniel871: Also how long the line is and the volume of air in it vs. the volume of the tank.
Jul 23, 2015 6:19 AM - daniel871: I hate calculating that vs. just testing and timing it.
Jul 23, 2015 6:19 AM - Stephen Capistron: Right,I could do the math, but it would probably be faster to just let it bleed and note when the whole house shakes from the thing coming on
    Jul 23, 2015 6:19 AM - daniel871: Yep.
Jul 23, 2015 6:19 AM - daniel871: Also need to measure the rate of bleed to really get it right.
Jul 23, 2015 6:20 AM - daniel871: It's like that time someone was asking for the gallons per minute on a shower system at various PSI loads. God that sucked.
Jul 23, 2015 6:22 AM - daniel871: On another note, anyone that has these sandals needs to be very careful about crossing their legs. [IMG]
    Jul 23, 2015 6:24 AM - JeffTheMess: morning

Jul 23, 2015 6:37 AM - JeffTheMess: anyone know the power supply of the robo, I think my is mysteriously dying
Jul 23, 2015 6:39 AM - Bill Monroe: there's not much to know.. AC in - 12V out

    Jul 23, 2015 6:39 AM - Bill Monroe: jb
    Jul 23, 2015 6:39 AM - jbigler1986: morning bill
    Jul 23, 2015 6:40 AM - JeffTheMess: thanks JB
Jul 23, 2015 6:41 AM - jbigler1986: yw, pretty sure that one has an extra 100watts over the robo stock one too
    Jul 23, 2015 6:41 AM - jbigler1986: could be wrong though
Jul 23, 2015 6:41 AM - JeffTheMess: i'll hold it against you if you are lol
Jul 23, 2015 6:43 AM - Bill Monroe: I used a benchtop P/S for a couple of weeks whilst I waited for Robo to send me a replacement
Jul 23, 2015 6:44 AM - Bill Monroe: then it took me a month to change it out when it finally arrived :)
    Jul 23, 2015 6:45 AM - jbigler1986: yeah most atx psu's will work
Jul 23, 2015 6:48 AM - JeffTheMess: cool, so what have you guys been up to lately I haven't been here in a while
Jul 23, 2015 6:48 AM - Bill Monroe: working on non Robo projects
    Jul 23, 2015 6:49 AM - JeffTheMess: airplane stuff
Jul 23, 2015 6:49 AM - Bill Monroe: I wish, that would be fun not work :)
    Jul 23, 2015 6:50 AM - JeffTheMess: nice
Jul 23, 2015 6:50 AM - Bill Monroe: laser speed gun for drawers, g-force meter, also for drawers, and a really nifty automated tester for volume testing a small device
Jul 23, 2015 6:51 AM - Bill Monroe: on the side, failure investigation for a mysterious failing of a bio-id module
    Jul 23, 2015 6:52 AM - daniel871: Fighting clogs.
Jul 23, 2015 6:52 AM - JeffTheMess: sounds like fun
    Jul 23, 2015 6:52 AM - daniel871: On the Robo.
Jul 23, 2015 6:52 AM - Bill Monroe: sounds like your Robo needs more fiber
Jul 23, 2015 6:53 AM - Bill Monroe: try printing woodfill
Jul 23, 2015 6:54 AM - daniel871: Hah, not fn likely. That stuff worked for short prints like the Marvin, but anything longer than that and the fibers would dry out and try to burn if they stuck anywhere in the hotend and not cleanly forced out with the rest of the filament.
Jul 23, 2015 6:55 AM - Bill Monroe: hmm I guess all the people that have great success with it must be doing something wrong
    Jul 23, 2015 6:56 AM - JeffTheMess: boom
Jul 23, 2015 6:56 AM - daniel871: Bad spool more likely. The Darker colored woodfill ran pretty well for a little while but would eventually start doing the same thing as the lighter colored spool.
Jul 23, 2015 6:56 AM - JeffTheMess: what are you printing
Jul 23, 2015 6:57 AM - daniel871: Absolutely nothing right now. Have to clean the volcano out again when I get home from work.
Jul 23, 2015 6:57 AM - daniel871: Going to just switch it back out to the v6 because it's never done well for anything but PET+ and T-glase.
Jul 23, 2015 6:59 AM - daniel871: (and I have a lot more PLA and various filled-PLA filaments than I do the other)
Jul 23, 2015 7:01 AM - JeffTheMess: whats your end goal for the printer?
Jul 23, 2015 7:01 AM - daniel871: I got all my hercustruder and dual bowden carriage stuff printed, and the lead screws and all that (also the fan extender for the RAMPS and plenty of extra wires), figure I'll just wait until the shop has the electrical work finished so I have room to work and do a proper job of making sure the PTFE is square on the tip going into the hotends and etc.
Jul 23, 2015 7:02 AM - daniel871: A different kind of "beast" than the thread we already have that extended the Z-travel.
Jul 23, 2015 7:03 AM - daniel871: Pretty much what JB was nearly finished doing before things went to Hell for him.
Jul 23, 2015 7:05 AM - JeffTheMess: JB, how did that dual go for you?

Jul 23, 2015 7:09 AM - JeffTheMess: Holy Cow JB
Jul 23, 2015 7:09 AM - Bill Monroe: who'd have thunk my30+ year old Heathkit prototyping station would come in handy today?
    Jul 23, 2015 7:10 AM - jbigler1986: good
Jul 23, 2015 7:17 AM - daniel871: One of those is probably worth some money if everything works.
Jul 23, 2015 7:21 AM - daniel871: Haha, the only website that wasn't about the history of them was last updated in 2003.
Jul 23, 2015 7:21 AM - daniel871: (pictures of someone's shack that had a bunch of the different kits in it).

Jul 23, 2015 7:24 AM - Bill Monroe: heathkit was awesome
Jul 23, 2015 7:25 AM - Bill Monroe: i still have heathkit stuff from the 70s.. optical tach, general coverage transciever, RLC bridge, VOM...
Jul 23, 2015 7:26 AM - Bill Monroe: all still works like new
Jul 23, 2015 7:31 AM - daniel871: Man, Metal Gear V is going to be brutal. [IMG]
Jul 23, 2015 7:31 AM - daniel871: Also LOL at the blood cleavage having a neckline like a shirt.
Jul 23, 2015 7:32 AM - JeffTheMess: real smooth Dan, Real smooth
    Jul 23, 2015 7:33 AM - daniel871: What?
Jul 23, 2015 7:47 AM - Mike Kelly: man i cannot get imgur app to upload here
Jul 23, 2015 7:48 AM - daniel871: If you're going to share the image here anyway, post it in a thread and then use the link you get from that post.
