    Jul 28, 2015 6:25 AM - daniel871: Also proprietary filament.
Jul 28, 2015 6:25 AM - WheresWaldo: Bt, I just spend the last few months building an IDE to programe in gcode
Jul 28, 2015 6:25 AM - WheresWaldo: Hey where did the edit button go?
Jul 28, 2015 6:26 AM - daniel871: Someone got rid of it when it was noticed anyone could edit any post.
    Jul 28, 2015 6:26 AM - JeffTheMess: another cubify
Jul 28, 2015 6:26 AM - daniel871: Fun for all of about five seconds.
    Jul 28, 2015 6:26 AM - daniel871: (that's what she said!"
Jul 28, 2015 6:26 AM - WheresWaldo: Doesn't DaVinci use proprietary filament cartridges also?
    Jul 28, 2015 6:27 AM - WheresWaldo: I miss the edit button.
Jul 28, 2015 6:27 AM - JeffTheMess: doesn't matter people will hack it
    Jul 28, 2015 6:27 AM - daniel871: Hahaha, that AMA is hilarious.
Jul 28, 2015 6:27 AM - JeffTheMess: hackers gonna hack
    Jul 28, 2015 6:27 AM - daniel871: The extruder temp can't be adjusted.
Jul 28, 2015 6:28 AM - daniel871: It's ON/Off and goes to 210-230 degrees depending on the pre-programmed temps for the Dremel filament colors.
Jul 28, 2015 6:28 AM - Mike Glass: WHat crap
Jul 28, 2015 6:29 AM - Mike Glass: OK JB last one. http://www.ebay.com/itm/32181746134...4&exe=12555&ext=31590&sojTags=exe=exe,ext=ext
Jul 28, 2015 6:30 AM - jbigler1986: wait. anyone could edit any post before?
Jul 28, 2015 6:30 AM - jbigler1986: or did you mean just their own
    Jul 28, 2015 6:30 AM - daniel871: Any post.
    Jul 28, 2015 6:31 AM - daniel871: I edited MK's comments a few times before someone locked it out.
Jul 28, 2015 6:31 AM - daniel871: Also that Robo on Ebay looks like it's been dropped.
    Jul 28, 2015 6:31 AM - jbigler1986: i had no idea
Jul 28, 2015 6:31 AM - WheresWaldo: So Daniel, you are the guy responsible for this travesty.
Jul 28, 2015 6:32 AM - daniel871: Nah, bamhm drew it to MK's attention. I wasn't going to say anything.
    Jul 28, 2015 6:32 AM - jbigler1986: i think that's just the plastic wrap on it
Jul 28, 2015 6:32 AM - Mike Glass: it still has the plastic on it like Bills, not sure why you think it s been dropped
    Jul 28, 2015 6:32 AM - Bill Monroe: :)
Jul 28, 2015 6:32 AM - daniel871: The top case is warped or something.
Jul 28, 2015 6:33 AM - WheresWaldo: That robo on ebay was propably the guy that couldn't get it to work and I suggested he return it and buy a Printrbot Play instead.
    Jul 28, 2015 6:33 AM - daniel871: Top cover.
    Jul 28, 2015 6:33 AM - JeffTheMess: ^
Jul 28, 2015 6:33 AM - JeffTheMess: hey let me buy an 800 dollar machine and never use it
Jul 28, 2015 6:33 AM - Mike Glass: Some people should not own robo's.
Jul 28, 2015 6:34 AM - jbigler1986: it looks fine from the back picture
    Jul 28, 2015 6:34 AM - daniel871: Sagging in the middle.
Jul 28, 2015 6:34 AM - WheresWaldo: I have little tolerances for stupidity and people whose only purpose in life is to complain without providing anything useful.
Jul 28, 2015 6:34 AM - Mike Glass: if it stays at $400 I will buy it.
    Jul 28, 2015 6:34 AM - daniel871: You must love November.
Jul 28, 2015 6:34 AM - daniel871: And the months leading up to it.
Jul 28, 2015 6:35 AM - WheresWaldo: So BenMac is going to get some BuildTak for his non-existent 2nd printer?
    Jul 28, 2015 6:35 AM - WheresWaldo: May for his non-existent 1st printer too?
Jul 28, 2015 6:35 AM - daniel871: Well, the buildtak can be used on whatever printer he gets if he trims it.
    Jul 28, 2015 6:36 AM - jbigler1986: is he getting buildtak now?
Jul 28, 2015 6:36 AM - daniel871: Hey Waldo, on your custom pillow blocks, were they tight at first when installed or are they supposed to be loose fit?
Jul 28, 2015 6:37 AM - WheresWaldo: I'm JK, don't really know, but he was asking a lot of questions about it.
Jul 28, 2015 6:38 AM - WheresWaldo: They should be tight, but the tolerances of the 8mm rods are all over the spectrum. I will post the models in addition to the STL, so you can adapt them for yourself.
Jul 28, 2015 6:38 AM - daniel871: Printed them in PET+ and the one rod has a little more resistance when sliding than the other. Lubed up and it slid alright, but I'm not very good at gauging how much torque I'm applying with my arm vs. what the stepper will be able to handle when it tries to move it.
Jul 28, 2015 6:39 AM - Mike Kelly: The ability to edit anyone's post was a mistake Harry made trying to remove the ability
Jul 28, 2015 6:39 AM - Mike Glass: without the belt on it should basically move by breathing on it.
Jul 28, 2015 6:40 AM - WheresWaldo: Stepper should be able to move them if the slide fairly easy. I will post the solid models.
Jul 28, 2015 6:40 AM - jbigler1986: Pretty sure i'm the guilty party on the chat editing. may be wrong though
    Jul 28, 2015 6:40 AM - WheresWaldo: I hate you JB  :)
Jul 28, 2015 6:40 AM - daniel871: Yeah, it was never that loose with the original pillow blocks, MK.
    Jul 28, 2015 6:40 AM - jbigler1986: MK you are 30 minutes early today
Jul 28, 2015 6:41 AM - Mike Kelly: Nope still in bed
Jul 28, 2015 6:41 AM - Mike Kelly: Gonna hop in the shower. Bbl
Jul 28, 2015 6:41 AM - jbigler1986: yeah. i will buy you all a beer if it indeed was my fault
Jul 28, 2015 6:41 AM - bamhm182: Sorry to jump to previous posts, I was away for a minute
Jul 28, 2015 6:42 AM - WheresWaldo: Dan, I use Fusion360, but can give you IGES or STEP, which would you prefer?
    Jul 28, 2015 6:42 AM - daniel871: There's the one responsible!
Jul 28, 2015 6:42 AM - bamhm182: We could only edit each others' text for a moment. It wasn't the whole time... Was it?
Jul 28, 2015 6:42 AM - Mike Glass: haha, still in bead, what are you on banker hours
    Jul 28, 2015 6:42 AM - daniel871: STEP
Jul 28, 2015 6:42 AM - Mike Glass: damn cant edit
    Jul 28, 2015 6:42 AM - daniel871: Freudian slip
Jul 28, 2015 6:43 AM - daniel871: I always saw triangles next to comments, but figured they would have options like "Ignore/block this person!"
Jul 28, 2015 6:43 AM - daniel871: Until Bam pointed out that they all had Edit and Delete options.
    Jul 28, 2015 6:43 AM - bamhm182: Oh
Jul 28, 2015 6:44 AM - Mike Glass: Guess we can blame bam
Jul 28, 2015 6:44 AM - Mike Glass: your off the hook jb..lol
Jul 28, 2015 6:44 AM - bamhm182: Weird, I only saw them on myself for the longest time, then all of the sudden they popped up for everyone else
Jul 28, 2015 6:44 AM - jbigler1986: i never tried to edit any one elses
    Jul 28, 2015 6:44 AM - bamhm182: But whatever, I'll take the blame, haha
Jul 28, 2015 6:47 AM - daniel871: Ugh, getting a graphics glitch in Solidworks where a dimension on a drawing file keeps going invisible.
    Jul 28, 2015 6:48 AM - daniel871: It's just a fn radius dim, stop hiding it!
Jul 28, 2015 6:48 AM - Mike Glass: I hate that. running out of video memory
Jul 28, 2015 6:49 AM - daniel871: That's stupid. The only thing open is Outlook, Chrome, Lync/Skype for Business and Solidworks.
    Jul 28, 2015 6:49 AM - JeffTheMess: Lync takes a shit load
    Jul 28, 2015 6:49 AM - bamhm182: It's the 16 instances of solidworks you have open
    Jul 28, 2015 6:50 AM - daniel871: Only the one.
Jul 28, 2015 6:50 AM - daniel871: Literally just the drawing file. Part file may be open in memory but isn't active.
    Jul 28, 2015 6:50 AM - JeffTheMess: that's why I love Inventor
Jul 28, 2015 6:50 AM - Mike Glass: you can change some settings in the system options under performance and tweek some settings.
Jul 28, 2015 6:53 AM - daniel871: Shouldn't have to. This rig has an i7 with 16GB of ram and an Nvidia KS2000 video card.
Jul 28, 2015 6:53 AM - Mike Glass: change it to use openGL see if that helps
Jul 28, 2015 6:53 AM - JeffTheMess: how big is your file?
Jul 28, 2015 6:54 AM - bamhm182: Saw this bash alias the other day that I didn't quite understand until I started playing around with this raspberry pi
    Jul 28, 2015 6:54 AM - bamhm182: https://twitter.com/liamosaur/status/506975850596536320?lang=en
    Jul 28, 2015 6:54 AM - daniel871: 5MB.
    Jul 28, 2015 6:55 AM - JeffTheMess: tiny file
Jul 28, 2015 6:55 AM - bamhm182: Most of the time I deal with Solaris, which doesn't use sudo. That takes the previous command you entered and puts sudo at the beginning of it. Definitely need to start using that due to the number of times I forget sudo
Jul 28, 2015 6:55 AM - daniel871: Probably going to find out the hardware is faulty or something.
Jul 28, 2015 6:56 AM - WheresWaldo: Daniel, I just added a ZIP to my post that contains source files. Decided to provide all formats supported by Fusion360 in the ZIP, IGS, STP, SAT and SMT are all there. It was built in two parts to make manipulating the IGUS clone easier. it is precisely 8 mm internally, most other printed bearings are built 8.1 mm but I found it too loose. Here is the link: http://community.robo3d.com/index.php?threads/my-new-printer.5547/page-2#post-51901
    Jul 28, 2015 6:57 AM - daniel871: Thanks, Waldo.
Jul 28, 2015 6:57 AM - Mike Glass: I changed mine to openGl, holy crap it renders super fast now.
Jul 28, 2015 6:59 AM - daniel871: Mine already had everything set that way on the Nvidia control panel (global OpenGL handler being the card).
Jul 28, 2015 6:59 AM - Mike Glass: im talking in solidworks
Jul 28, 2015 7:00 AM - Mike Glass: there is a setting not set by default to change it.
Jul 28, 2015 7:00 AM - daniel871: The only thing referencing OpenGL on the Performance tab is "Use Software OpenGL" and it's grayed out/unselectable.
Jul 28, 2015 7:01 AM - Mike Glass: does it have it checkmarked?

    Jul 28, 2015 7:01 AM - daniel871: No.
Jul 28, 2015 7:02 AM - Mike Glass: do you have a project open?
Jul 28, 2015 7:02 AM - Mike Glass: you will have to close it first to select it
Jul 28, 2015 7:03 AM - daniel871: Okay, can select it now, but why would I want to?
Jul 28, 2015 7:03 AM - Mike Glass: think it just helps with rendering
    Jul 28, 2015 7:03 AM - daniel871: Hm.
Jul 28, 2015 7:04 AM - Mike Glass: although the main screen seems to move around an object faster
Jul 28, 2015 7:04 AM - daniel871: Well, going to try the old "shut everything down and boot up again" option in case something squirrelly is going on with the resident memory on this thing.
Jul 28, 2015 7:10 AM - Mike Kelly: and back
    Jul 28, 2015 7:14 AM - donhuevo: me too
    Jul 28, 2015 7:16 AM - WheresWaldo: me three
Jul 28, 2015 7:20 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm kicking myself because i realized i linked to my website instead of my 2 page portfolio for this job
    Jul 28, 2015 7:21 AM - daniel871: Anything embarassing on there?
Jul 28, 2015 7:21 AM - WheresWaldo: Hey MK, personal question, do you actually make any money printing for 3DHubs?
Jul 28, 2015 7:21 AM - Mike Kelly: no it's just my portfolio
Jul 28, 2015 7:21 AM - Mike Kelly: but i had my friend make me a really nice 2 pager
Jul 28, 2015 7:22 AM - Mike Kelly: that i was gonna hot link
Jul 28, 2015 7:22 AM - Mike Kelly: but spaced
    Jul 28, 2015 7:22 AM - Mike Kelly: i've made a bit of money off 3dhubs
Jul 28, 2015 7:22 AM - daniel871: How much money you make there depends on actually having competitive pricing and getting orders.
Jul 28, 2015 7:22 AM - WheresWaldo: There is only three in my area and none in my part of the county, thinking about joining.
Jul 28, 2015 7:23 AM - daniel871: Like, once my dual extruder Robo is running, I'll be in a good place as there won't be any other hubs within 40 miles of me.
    Jul 28, 2015 7:23 AM - jbigler1986: there are like 10 close to me
    Jul 28, 2015 7:23 AM - Mike Kelly: it's worth setting up
    Jul 28, 2015 7:23 AM - Mike Kelly: might get a sale or 2
    Jul 28, 2015 7:23 AM - daniel871: Free stickers.
Jul 28, 2015 7:24 AM - WheresWaldo: I have been on Shapeways for a while now, it isn't much, since I don't design jewelry, but it is steady.
Jul 28, 2015 7:26 AM - WheresWaldo: In order to be competetive there, Shapeways ends up with the bulk of the money, you get what's left over - 3.5% after you price it. They do allow you to set your own pricing.
    Jul 28, 2015 7:27 AM - Mike Kelly: that's messed
Jul 28, 2015 7:27 AM - JeffTheMess: sounds like China
Jul 28, 2015 7:29 AM - WheresWaldo: It always cost the same to produce, wheher you buy for yourself or someone else buys it, you add your markup for others. What I found is that I make considerably higher margins on very small items rather than larger ones. So something Shapeways charges 3.00 to make could easily sell for 15.00 but if it costs 30.00, you'll be lucky to get any bites at 60.00.
Jul 28, 2015 7:31 AM - WheresWaldo: I end up using my Robo to prototype designs that eventually go up there. But usually first iterations end up on Thingiverse or YouMagine. I then refine, curve, fillet, and pretty up subsequent iterations for Shapeways.
Jul 28, 2015 7:32 AM - JeffTheMess: you use shapeways to both design and print for your customers, or just print?
Jul 28, 2015 7:33 AM - WheresWaldo: One good thing, is that they assume any flaws are their fault, and when they issue refunds they don't take any money back that they already paid you. @jeff I just have them print, I design locally, I have never used their design tools.
Jul 28, 2015 7:34 AM - WheresWaldo: I don't usually do designs for others, it's my stuff, where I see a niche, something I need, I design it and use it, then put it up on Shapeways.
Jul 28, 2015 7:34 AM - WheresWaldo: Almost everything I have up there is only for me and my bicycle, or for my nephew and his BRZ.
Jul 28, 2015 7:35 AM - WheresWaldo: The one drawback in all of this is that I don't really know who my customers are, unless they message me or post on any of the boards I frequent.
    Jul 28, 2015 7:37 AM - Mike Kelly: ugh
Jul 28, 2015 7:37 AM - jbigler1986: 3dhubs will google map and zoom in to ur exact house just about. lol
Jul 28, 2015 7:38 AM - WheresWaldo: Not sure I want people to know where I live, exactly, even though that is far from hard to find out nowadays.
Jul 28, 2015 7:38 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah mine was exactly overhead
Jul 28, 2015 7:39 AM - WheresWaldo: One good thing, is that some of my items have been shipped all over the world. It's nice to have a global market, no matter how small.
Jul 28, 2015 7:39 AM - Mike Kelly: i just don't want to deal with shipping
Jul 28, 2015 7:40 AM - WheresWaldo: So MK all your 3Dhub orders are pickup only?
    Jul 28, 2015 7:40 AM - Mike Kelly: yes
Jul 28, 2015 7:42 AM - WheresWaldo: Shapeways handles all of that, I couldn't even tell you which printing center made a particular item. All I know is that some user buys something, I get a notification if it's the first one when successfullyprinted and every month I get a PayPal deposit.
Jul 28, 2015 7:47 AM - WheresWaldo: Yeah, just 10 more layers to go and then on to the next print job.
Jul 28, 2015 7:52 AM - daniel871: Wait, so you just put a design on Shapeways and it someone orders it you get what amounts to a commission/royalty for it?
Jul 28, 2015 7:52 AM - daniel871: Also, restarting did nothing, so going around updating all of the drivers for everything even though nothing should have changed.
Jul 28, 2015 7:56 AM - WheresWaldo: I get a markup on what I post. For example, I designed an adapter for a camera mount, no one else makes it (probably too small a market) then I upload the STL to Shapeways, they auto-examine the STL for printability, then allow me to select what materials I want to sell it in, I choose a price I want to sell it at over what Shapeways charges. Someone orders the item, Shapeways prints, ships and does all customer service. I get the markup - 3.5%.
    Jul 28, 2015 7:56 AM - daniel871: Interesting.
Jul 28, 2015 7:57 AM - daniel871: I may point my mom at that because she wants to have me print stuff for her off of stuff she designs and I'd like to point her at a better resource.
Jul 28, 2015 7:58 AM - JeffTheMess: so your getting paid more for the design vs 3dhub you get paid more for print (and if your lucky, a design)
Jul 28, 2015 7:58 AM - WheresWaldo: Most of the stuff up there is Jewelry, stuff for Bronies, and model railroad items. I am one of the few with bicycle stuff.
Jul 28, 2015 7:59 AM - daniel871: Mom will mostly be designing jewelry/apparel accessories stuff.
Jul 28, 2015 8:00 AM - daniel871: Anyway, video card driver is downloaded, going to attempt install. BBIAB
Jul 28, 2015 8:00 AM - WheresWaldo: Well, you don't actually get the design, just the printed item. The design is still mine, unless I specifically allow downloading. Since some of my stuff is reverse engineered and the original manufacturer hasn't or won't release their designs, I don't aloow downloading. If it's public domain, I post on Thingiverse or YouMagine
Jul 28, 2015 8:01 AM - WheresWaldo: So most of the Gopro stuff I have done has a version on Thingiverse, all of the Shimano stuff doesn't.
Jul 28, 2015 8:01 AM - Harry: MK have you heard of Shyp?
Jul 28, 2015 8:01 AM - Harry: Check it out. Thats what I use with my hub and they do all the shipping
Jul 28, 2015 8:01 AM - JeffTheMess: right thats what i meant printing your deisgn
Jul 28, 2015 8:02 AM - Harry: Its like Uber for shipping and at almost no cost
Jul 28, 2015 8:02 AM - WheresWaldo: You should totally set your mom up. It is much nicer than Etsy for stuff like this.\
    Jul 28, 2015 8:06 AM - Mike Kelly: nope that's a new one
Jul 28, 2015 8:07 AM - JeffTheMess: isn't the whole idea of 3dhub for local printing?
    Jul 28, 2015 8:08 AM - Mike Kelly: yes
Jul 28, 2015 8:08 AM - Mike Kelly: i don't think it even has shipping options
    Jul 28, 2015 8:09 AM - jbigler1986: it's an option i'm pretty sure
Jul 28, 2015 8:09 AM - daniel871: 3DHubs has shipping options, but its up to the hub to do it.
    Jul 28, 2015 8:09 AM - jbigler1986: although i think it's just adding the shipping cost
    Jul 28, 2015 8:09 AM - daniel871: That.
Jul 28, 2015 8:10 AM - daniel871: So you have to add the cost when taking the order.
Jul 28, 2015 8:10 AM - daniel871: Some hubs do usps, others fedex or ups and the shipping goes up or down with it.
Jul 28, 2015 8:14 AM - JeffTheMess: how much does 3dhub get out of all of this?
Jul 28, 2015 8:16 AM - Mike Kelly: My last order they paid 23 and I got 20
Jul 28, 2015 8:16 AM - JeffTheMess: pretty darn good
Jul 28, 2015 8:19 AM - JeffTheMess: how much much was it for you to print
    Jul 28, 2015 8:20 AM - Mike Glass: free
Jul 28, 2015 8:20 AM - Mike Glass: Mike has a sign on his printer, will work for filament.
    Jul 28, 2015 8:20 AM - JeffTheMess: lol
Jul 28, 2015 8:21 AM - Mike Kelly: it was a pretty basic print, maybe a dollar
Jul 28, 2015 8:22 AM - Mike Kelly: i printed 3 though cause the rep2 was leaving gaps on top
    Jul 28, 2015 8:22 AM - JeffTheMess: [IMG]
Jul 28, 2015 8:22 AM - JeffTheMess: you got that filament man!?
Jul 28, 2015 8:22 AM - JeffTheMess: thats not bad MK
    Jul 28, 2015 8:22 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah it's worth it
Jul 28, 2015 8:23 AM - Mike Kelly: though the guy never even picked up the part
Jul 28, 2015 8:23 AM - JeffTheMess: hey as long as you get paid, its all good

Jul 28, 2015 9:43 AM - Mike Glass: think it started to low as it was pretty smooshed, so its just cutting the lines not really laying down any

    Jul 28, 2015 12:16 PM - Mike Kelly: yes he's printed solid

    Jul 28, 2015 12:20 PM - daniel871: Replicator 1st generation.
    Jul 28, 2015 12:21 PM - daniel871: https://www.facebook.com/groups/3DPrinterHobbyists/
    Jul 28, 2015 12:21 PM - Mike Kelly: 3d hubs is 14 printers away from 20k
Jul 28, 2015 12:22 PM - Mike Kelly: i expected you'd look more goony daniel
Jul 28, 2015 12:22 PM - daniel871: I look pretty fn goony, to be fair.
    Jul 28, 2015 12:23 PM - Mike Kelly: goonier than I
    Jul 28, 2015 12:24 PM - daniel871: It's the rainbow punisher shirt.
Jul 28, 2015 12:24 PM - Mike Kelly: more like sorbet
Jul 28, 2015 12:24 PM - Mike Kelly: printedsolid has a replicator dual
Jul 28, 2015 12:25 PM - daniel871: Did he ever get the used printers back on the site?
    Jul 28, 2015 12:25 PM - Mike Kelly: doesn't look like it
Jul 28, 2015 12:28 PM - Mike Glass: ok, now when I do 300% for the first layer it all wavy do I need to adjust the width as well, im going super slow but still seems to go to crap on the sencond layer.
Jul 28, 2015 12:28 PM - daniel871: I think I'm going to replace the LM8UU bearings on the stock pillow blocks and put them back on.
Jul 28, 2015 12:29 PM - daniel871: The ones I put in the v2 carriage are super quiet.
Jul 28, 2015 12:30 PM - daniel871: Only pain about that is taking the bed back off to do it. Ugh.
Jul 28, 2015 12:32 PM - Mike Glass: thats easy just raise the carrige to the top and fold out the bed
    Jul 28, 2015 12:33 PM - JeffTheMess: ^
Jul 28, 2015 12:33 PM - daniel871: The locknuts inside the case make changing the pillow blocks a bit more difficult than that.
Jul 28, 2015 12:34 PM - daniel871: Have to get to the nuts with a wrench/pair of pliers/socket to hold it still, back the screws out, change the pillow block and remount it, then put the carriage/bed back together.
Jul 28, 2015 12:36 PM - Mike Glass: oh to remove the pillow blocks, gotcha
Jul 28, 2015 12:40 PM - daniel871: Maybe I'll get things finished wired up other than the parts fans to the fan extender this evening.
Jul 28, 2015 12:41 PM - daniel871: Took the stock SD card bit out so that the LCD controller wires can go out that side, maybe the extruder wires for the hercustruders, too.
Jul 28, 2015 12:42 PM - daniel871: Haven't quite decided whether to mount both of them on one side of the Robo or one on each side to make it easier to have the spool holders for each extruder located properly.
    Jul 28, 2015 12:47 PM - daniel871: Hahahaha. [IMG]
    Jul 28, 2015 12:48 PM - daniel871: Hey, found a new toy. http://www.amazon.com/Greenlee-06186-Cablecaster-Pulling-Three/dp/B001HWAGRM

Jul 28, 2015 12:54 PM - Mike Kelly: the replicators really need a water cooled block
    Jul 28, 2015 12:55 PM - jbigler1986: it needs in the trash
Jul 28, 2015 12:55 PM - Mike Kelly: the heated enclosure just gets too hot for it to effectively cool the heatsink
Jul 28, 2015 12:55 PM - Mike Kelly: i wonder if anyone is stupid enough to trade the rep2x for a um2
Jul 28, 2015 12:55 PM - jbigler1986: oh god. i would hope not but you never know
Jul 28, 2015 12:56 PM - Mike Kelly: don't think my president would even notice it
Jul 28, 2015 12:56 PM - jbigler1986: you would be upgrading it anyways
    Jul 28, 2015 12:56 PM - Mike Kelly: yup
Jul 28, 2015 12:57 PM - Mike Kelly: it's a shame ultimaker doesn't sell the dual extruder upgrade kit though

Jul 28, 2015 1:00 PM - daniel871: I kept expecting water in the air line and sparks.

Jul 28, 2015 1:06 PM - Mike Kelly: most likely would
Jul 28, 2015 1:07 PM - Mike Kelly: pretty much any blasting would be good
Jul 28, 2015 1:07 PM - Stephen Capistron: a hard media is likely to embed itself no?
    Jul 28, 2015 1:08 PM - Mike Kelly: true
Jul 28, 2015 1:08 PM - Mike Kelly: plastic media is about as hard as you want for a solid medium
    Jul 28, 2015 1:09 PM - daniel871: I need to build that 5 gallon bucket tumbler.
    Jul 28, 2015 1:10 PM - daniel871: I laugh more the longer I watch this. [IMG]
Jul 28, 2015 1:11 PM - daniel871: Someone strapped fireworks to a motorcycle helmet and put on one of those full body protective suites.

    Jul 28, 2015 1:17 PM - Mike Kelly: hilarious

Jul 28, 2015 1:29 PM - jbigler1986: russia is crazy. no wonder why the hot women leave
Jul 28, 2015 1:29 PM - Mike Kelly: russia is the result of no liability laws, no osha, and dashcams everywhere
    Jul 28, 2015 1:30 PM - daniel871: I got that dashcam by the way.
Jul 28, 2015 1:30 PM - daniel871: Just need to start uploading clips of any weird stuff that happens.

Jul 28, 2015 1:32 PM - daniel871: There was a Beetle driving down the road sparking off it's exhaust pipe every time it hit a bump in the road.

Jul 28, 2015 3:35 PM - PeterkSharma: after installing an lcd controller on my printer, the layers print about 4mm to tall making the spaghetti unless I move z down to the correct position manually. This a printer or slicer problem?
    Jul 28, 2015 3:38 PM - donhuevo: most definitely a printer problem
Jul 28, 2015 3:39 PM - donhuevo: did you start the print from the computer or the lcd?
Jul 28, 2015 3:40 PM - toy: repetier host 5468k ram, slicer 2213k ram,, damn have i just never noticed how much ram it takes to slice 100mb file
    Jul 28, 2015 3:41 PM - toy: only 12% cpu .. lame
Jul 28, 2015 3:42 PM - PeterkSharma: from the lcd
Jul 28, 2015 3:43 PM - donhuevo: did the gcode include the 9-point autolevel sequence prior to starting the print?
Jul 28, 2015 3:48 PM - donhuevo: my gut is telling me you may have accidentally unplugged your one/both of your z endstop switches from the ramps during the lcd install. look here on your ramps board.... [IMG]
Jul 28, 2015 4:00 PM - Mike Kelly: bah the 3/8" dowels i bought are too big for the 1/2" board i made
    Jul 28, 2015 4:01 PM - donhuevo: que?
    Jul 28, 2015 4:02 PM - Mike Kelly: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0055HPZF8?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00
Jul 28, 2015 4:04 PM - Mike Kelly: do i feel like going to harbor freight right now...
    Jul 28, 2015 4:04 PM - Mike Kelly: no
    Jul 28, 2015 4:04 PM - Mike Kelly: no i don't
    Jul 28, 2015 4:04 PM - donhuevo: http://www.amazon.com/Robert-Larson...&qid=1438124813&sr=1-1&keywords=flush+cut+saw
    Jul 28, 2015 4:06 PM - Mike Glass: ohh a chinese saw
    Jul 28, 2015 4:06 PM - Mike Glass: a must have
Jul 28, 2015 4:09 PM - Mike Kelly: you mean japanese pull saw
Jul 28, 2015 4:09 PM - donhuevo: flush cut from the country of your choosing
Jul 28, 2015 4:10 PM - donhuevo: cutting dowels flush is pretty much it's whole reason for being
    Jul 28, 2015 4:10 PM - Mike Kelly: ah
Jul 28, 2015 4:13 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm securing my table with dowel pins
Jul 28, 2015 4:14 PM - donhuevo: I agree with mg, that saw is a must have
Jul 28, 2015 4:16 PM - Mike Glass: They are super sharp
Jul 28, 2015 4:17 PM - donhuevo: and they don't scratch up the surface they're riding against
Jul 28, 2015 4:18 PM - Mike Kelly: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000224U3?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage this is my bad boy
Jul 28, 2015 4:18 PM - Mike Kelly: love using that thing
Jul 28, 2015 4:19 PM - donhuevo: so why are you bitching about dowels being too long?
Jul 28, 2015 4:19 PM - donhuevo: just stop it
Jul 28, 2015 4:20 PM - Mike Kelly: diameter not length
    Jul 28, 2015 4:20 PM - donhuevo: how can 3/8 be bigger than 1/2?
Jul 28, 2015 4:20 PM - Mike Kelly: the boards are like .6in across
Jul 28, 2015 4:20 PM - Mike Kelly: so if you drill a 3/8" hole inside of it
Jul 28, 2015 4:21 PM - Mike Kelly: there's not much side wall material
Jul 28, 2015 4:21 PM - donhuevo: so you need biscuits and a biscuit cutter
Jul 28, 2015 4:21 PM - Mike Kelly: and i'm how you say, mistake prone
Jul 28, 2015 4:21 PM - Mike Kelly: i thought about that but then how do i secure the table top to the support
    Jul 28, 2015 4:22 PM - donhuevo: magnets
    Jul 28, 2015 4:22 PM - Mike Kelly: lol
    Jul 28, 2015 4:23 PM - TxKent: Kreg jig?
Jul 28, 2015 4:23 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm kinda leaning that way tbh
Jul 28, 2015 4:23 PM - Mike Kelly: then the whole table is removable
Jul 28, 2015 4:25 PM - Mike Kelly: for those not familiar with my project: http://i.imgur.com/xuzHgCG.jpg http://i.imgur.com/Z61RpjI.jpg
Jul 28, 2015 4:25 PM - TxKent: They have a fairly inexpensive kit - ~$30 or so at Lowes.
Jul 28, 2015 4:26 PM - TxKent: Nice place to set your cold beer.
    Jul 28, 2015 4:26 PM - Mike Kelly: that's the plan
    Jul 28, 2015 4:27 PM - TxKent: What's the chain control?
Jul 28, 2015 4:27 PM - Mike Kelly: it's for my roll down shade
    Jul 28, 2015 4:28 PM - Mike Kelly: http://i.imgur.com/sIZ6ftm.jpg
Jul 28, 2015 4:29 PM - TxKent: Sweet. I need that here in central Texas.
Jul 28, 2015 4:30 PM - TxKent: It's 106F on my back porch right now.
    Jul 28, 2015 4:32 PM - Mike Kelly: it's crucial
Jul 28, 2015 4:32 PM - Mike Kelly: west facing awning
Jul 28, 2015 4:34 PM - Mike Kelly: i guess i should go do some soldering...
    Jul 28, 2015 4:34 PM - TxKent: Yup, yup.
    Jul 28, 2015 4:34 PM - TxKent: Have fun.
    Jul 28, 2015 4:45 PM - TechSupportGo: am i missing something?
Jul 28, 2015 4:45 PM - Mike Glass: question for yaz all, so I put this .2 nozzle on, and no matter what I do, tape no tape, I end up having to set the z offset -.20 more then with my .4 nozzle, does that even make sense?
Jul 28, 2015 4:46 PM - Mike Glass: only thing I can think of, this nozzle is longer, but shouldn't auto-compensate figure it out?
    Jul 28, 2015 4:46 PM - jbigler1986: Probably. But i cant explain why
Jul 28, 2015 4:47 PM - jbigler1986: Thays why the damn autolevel sucks.
    Jul 28, 2015 4:47 PM - jbigler1986: That's
Jul 28, 2015 4:50 PM - Mike Glass: I think I had this problem before, just strange, took me all day to get a print working with the .2 at layer height of .1
Jul 28, 2015 4:52 PM - jbigler1986: Yep. I got that issue a lot as well. After messing with something the offset needed changed. Would take forever to get it dialed in
Jul 28, 2015 4:52 PM - jbigler1986: Not sure what the issue is exactly
    Jul 28, 2015 4:53 PM - TechSupportGo: MG
Jul 28, 2015 4:55 PM - TechSupportGo: Almost done with the guitar.. ran into some electrical component issues but got the parts now. supposed to record a video for the upcoming robo promo!!

    Jul 28, 2015 4:58 PM - toy: pic?
Jul 28, 2015 5:07 PM - Mike Glass: Yo TECH
Jul 28, 2015 5:10 PM - TechSupportGo: hey whats up bro
Jul 28, 2015 5:10 PM - Mike Glass: not much how are you
    Jul 28, 2015 5:15 PM - TxKent: I resolved my print issue - I think... maybe.
Jul 28, 2015 5:16 PM - TxKent: My right Z rod was "out of the pocket" at the top of the case. So as the carriage rode up it started binding.
Jul 28, 2015 5:17 PM - Mike Glass: wow, did you take the case off or was it a qc problem
Jul 28, 2015 5:17 PM - TxKent: Nevermind. It just started screwing up again. About 10mm up - the extruder nozzle starts dragging on the object.
    Jul 28, 2015 5:18 PM - TxKent: It's jumping on the z axis.
    Jul 28, 2015 5:18 PM - TxKent: I've had the top off.
Jul 28, 2015 5:18 PM - TxKent: Frack. It's like it has dropped down, and it's dragging all over the print.
Jul 28, 2015 5:18 PM - Mike Glass: wonder if your ramps fan is working.
    Jul 28, 2015 5:18 PM - jbigler1986: Thats probably the issue
Jul 28, 2015 5:19 PM - TxKent: The bottom is off the case
Jul 28, 2015 5:19 PM - TxKent: Ok... let me get some cooling on it.
    Jul 28, 2015 5:19 PM - jbigler1986: Rep. Ramps overheating
    Jul 28, 2015 5:19 PM - jbigler1986: Yep*
Jul 28, 2015 5:22 PM - TxKent: Alrighty... so it works until it gets hot enough to start screwing up.
Jul 28, 2015 5:24 PM - Mike Glass: yes need a fan on it at all times
    Jul 28, 2015 5:24 PM - TxKent: D'oh.
    Jul 28, 2015 5:24 PM - TxKent:
Jul 28, 2015 5:24 PM - Mike Glass: just a mini cpu like, dont like heat
Jul 28, 2015 5:25 PM - TxKent: Understood. My arduinos and RPi's don't need them, but I didn't think about how much the ramps board is pushing out - I feels dumb.
Jul 28, 2015 5:26 PM - Mike Glass: you would think that little fan blowing out of the case doesnt do a whole lot
Jul 28, 2015 5:26 PM - Mike Glass: I have a fan mounted on the ramps blowing on it
Jul 28, 2015 5:27 PM - TxKent: I'll rig another fan now. Since I got the controller, I have the spacer feet on it and thought that was enough for passive cooling, but I guess the heat "pools" there.
Jul 28, 2015 5:36 PM - TxKent: Guess this one goes on my blooper reel
    Jul 28, 2015 5:36 PM - Mike Glass: haha
Jul 28, 2015 5:39 PM - TxKent: So is there a design for a fan mount when you've removed the bottom of the case?
Jul 28, 2015 5:39 PM - TxKent: Once I find my bench power supply, and fire up this squirrel cage fan, I'm going to print it.
    Jul 28, 2015 5:39 PM - donhuevo: only about 800 of them
    Jul 28, 2015 5:40 PM - TxKent: LOL. Ok.
    Jul 28, 2015 5:40 PM - donhuevo: http://www.thingiverse.com/search?q=ramps+fan&sa=
Jul 28, 2015 5:49 PM - TxKent: my wife is laughing at me for breaking my printer by removing the fan.
Jul 28, 2015 5:56 PM - Mike Kelly: hmm i think that a stepper driver is bad or something
Jul 28, 2015 5:56 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm able to stop the filament by pressure on number 2 but on 1 i can't
Jul 28, 2015 6:02 PM - jbigler1986: Interesting. What was wrong with the hercustruder exactly?
    Jul 28, 2015 6:03 PM - Mike Kelly: bondtech
    Jul 28, 2015 6:03 PM - Mike Kelly: oh
    Jul 28, 2015 6:03 PM - Mike Kelly: i dunno probably nothing
Jul 28, 2015 6:03 PM - donhuevo: you can't extrude number two? I think they make a pill for that
    Jul 28, 2015 6:03 PM - Mike Kelly: lol
    Jul 28, 2015 6:05 PM - jbigler1986: Haha
Jul 28, 2015 6:08 PM - Stephen Capistron: I tthink all the GIFs the chare killing at on
    Jul 28, 2015 6:08 PM - Stephen Capistron: Let's try this again because I can't edit
Jul 28, 2015 6:08 PM - Stephen Capistron: The GIFs are killing the chat on my tablet
    Jul 28, 2015 6:10 PM - jbigler1986: Lmao on the 1st try
Jul 28, 2015 6:11 PM - jbigler1986: Kind of funny to read them sometimes
Jul 28, 2015 6:11 PM - donhuevo: is that why you got our edit taken away?
Jul 28, 2015 6:13 PM - Stephen Capistron: Ha, I have that same flush cut saw
Jul 28, 2015 6:15 PM - jbigler1986: Hey. I didnt do it. It was bam
    Jul 28, 2015 6:16 PM - jbigler1986: But sure. I will take the fall
Jul 28, 2015 6:16 PM - jbigler1986: So i may be getting the robo back next friday
    Jul 28, 2015 6:16 PM - donhuevo: congrats
Jul 28, 2015 6:20 PM - jbigler1986: Crossing my fingers. Dont wanna say more than that
    Jul 28, 2015 6:22 PM - jbigler1986: Sent ya a pm bro
Jul 28, 2015 6:23 PM - Mike Glass: thats the best I can do I guess. [IMG]
Jul 28, 2015 6:24 PM - Mike Glass: needs a little clean up
    Jul 28, 2015 6:24 PM - donhuevo: a dermatologist maybe
    Jul 28, 2015 6:24 PM - jbigler1986: Lol
Jul 28, 2015 6:25 PM - Mike Glass: haha he was kinda full of holes, I filled with LW spackle
Jul 28, 2015 6:25 PM - Mike Glass: then painted it silver
Jul 28, 2015 6:26 PM - Mike Glass: I ended up using cura
Jul 28, 2015 6:26 PM - Mike Glass: so had to manually change the temp as it was printing
    Jul 28, 2015 6:26 PM - jbigler1986: Cheater
Jul 28, 2015 6:26 PM - Stephen Capistron: You are a dangerous man when you have time on your hands
Jul 28, 2015 6:27 PM - jbigler1986: Hey stephen. Been messing with the printer any?
Jul 28, 2015 6:27 PM - Mike Glass: Im gonna do it in abs at with a .4 or .3 and then vapor polish
Jul 28, 2015 6:27 PM - Stephen Capistron: Not too much, maybe a little tune up tomorrow
Jul 28, 2015 6:28 PM - Mike Glass: back to chair printing
Jul 28, 2015 6:28 PM - Stephen Capistron: You need to print a yoda to be the back side of the coin
    Jul 28, 2015 6:29 PM - Mike Glass: I could get banned for that..lol
Jul 28, 2015 6:31 PM - jbigler1986: Now i need to print one when i get my printer just to mess with MK
Jul 28, 2015 6:31 PM - Mike Kelly: Na you can print as many as you want I just won't :)
Jul 28, 2015 6:33 PM - jbigler1986: Im gonna hack ur profile and post it as ur profile pic. :p
Jul 28, 2015 6:45 PM - donhuevo: about to start printing an Igus bushing holder with adjustable compression
    Jul 28, 2015 6:46 PM - donhuevo: [IMG]
Jul 28, 2015 6:50 PM - jbigler1986: did you buy some of those
    Jul 28, 2015 6:52 PM - donhuevo: I did.
    Jul 28, 2015 6:52 PM - jbigler1986: they were expensive
    Jul 28, 2015 6:53 PM - donhuevo: not these... http://www.igus.com/iPro/iPro_02_0017_0000_USen.htm?c=US&l=en
Jul 28, 2015 6:55 PM - donhuevo: i went with the metric flanged
Jul 28, 2015 6:56 PM - donhuevo: hoping to compress with a 3mm screw and heatset nut
    Jul 28, 2015 6:59 PM - jbigler1986: Hmmm. Reason?
Jul 28, 2015 7:01 PM - donhuevo: if it works, less weight, less noise and smaller
Jul 28, 2015 7:14 PM - Mike Glass: he has small nuts
Jul 28, 2015 7:19 PM - daniel871: Refresh my memory, where do the thermistor leads plug in at on the ramps?
Jul 28, 2015 7:19 PM - daniel871: Wiring up everything for dual but the parts fans while I wait on the fan extender
Jul 28, 2015 7:38 PM - jim3Dbot: Hey, don thuse bushings remind me of the nyliner bushings I used in fixtures 1980's

Jul 28, 2015 7:40 PM - Mike Glass: hmm maybe, there might be a one that may have you beat.

Jul 28, 2015 7:41 PM - TxKent: The Ramps fan was the issue. It's printing perfectly now.
Jul 28, 2015 7:41 PM - Mike Glass: I think thats where bill is
Jul 28, 2015 7:42 PM - Mike Glass: Its all good, young at heart is all that matters

Jul 28, 2015 7:42 PM - TxKent: Now I'm going to print a replacement foot with a 92mm fan mount.
Jul 28, 2015 7:43 PM - Mike Glass: yay TxKent glad you got it figured out
Jul 28, 2015 7:43 PM - TxKent: Without you guys, I never would have.

Jul 28, 2015 7:44 PM - Mike Glass: geez I have too much going on, I have a cnc running, a 3d printer and three kids running around all krazy.
Jul 28, 2015 7:44 PM - jim3Dbot: These guys here, no suck up intended, are ON....
Jul 28, 2015 7:45 PM - Mike Glass: great BD present for sure.
Jul 28, 2015 7:45 PM - TxKent: Well, it took me overdoing her BD, Anniversary and Mothersday.
Jul 28, 2015 7:46 PM - Mike Glass: I've only been printing for almost 8 months and still learning this stuff. but thats what I live for, its pure enjoyment, and also hypnotic to watch the printer..lol
Jul 28, 2015 7:46 PM - TxKent: I also paid for over half of it by doing a market study on an information security product.
Jul 28, 2015 7:47 PM - TxKent: I'm only scratching the surface. I keep looking for interesting uses other than printing "doo-dads" out for my kids
Jul 28, 2015 7:47 PM - Mike Glass: there is a thread for real world uses, we all post there when we need to fix something.
Jul 28, 2015 7:48 PM - jim3Dbot: Purchased the roboR1 to design a product, that was the only reason, now hooked...bout 4 months ago....
Jul 28, 2015 7:49 PM - TxKent: I want to build a new quadcopter. Maybe some day soon.
Jul 28, 2015 7:50 PM - Mike Glass: My wife was most impressed with the knobs I printed for her mine craft theme dresser, oh I guess its totaly cool now..lol
Jul 28, 2015 7:50 PM - TxKent: Like I need another hobby - at least 3d printing is an inside activity.
Jul 28, 2015 7:50 PM - Mike Glass: I printed a cnc with my robo and been enjoying that the most
Jul 28, 2015 7:51 PM - TxKent: That would be very cool.
    Jul 28, 2015 7:51 PM - TxKent: Does it use a dremel?
    Jul 28, 2015 7:51 PM - Mike Glass: http://www.thingiverse.com/make:134212 check it out
Jul 28, 2015 7:51 PM - jim3Dbot: Yep, spend 15 min to a few hrs designing, then wait while it prints, while doin' second hobby....
Jul 28, 2015 7:51 PM - Mike Kelly: We had a 91 year old member
Jul 28, 2015 7:51 PM - Mike Glass: you can put a dremel or anyting on it.
Jul 28, 2015 7:52 PM - Mike Glass: hey how com you can edit o_O
Jul 28, 2015 7:52 PM - Mike Kelly: because i'm better than you
    Jul 28, 2015 7:53 PM - jim3Dbot: wow, print your own urn...maybe I should think of one...damn that's not nice...
    Jul 28, 2015 7:53 PM - Mike Kelly: :)
Jul 28, 2015 7:53 PM - Mike Glass: you still smell the best

    Jul 28, 2015 7:54 PM - Mike Glass: oops
    Jul 28, 2015 7:55 PM - TxKent: Freudian slip
Jul 28, 2015 7:55 PM - Mike Glass: my bad sorry
    Jul 28, 2015 7:55 PM - Mike Kelly: :)

Jul 28, 2015 7:56 PM - Mike Kelly: i did it looked good except the pimples
Jul 28, 2015 7:57 PM - Mike Glass: yea still dont know why it I have to offset the z when I use it
Jul 28, 2015 7:57 PM - TxKent: I saw a project for a 3d printed laser etcher - pretty neat. Maybe I can make that. Takes 2 DVD burners - one with lightscribe technology.
Jul 28, 2015 7:57 PM - Mike Kelly: wtf repetier froze now i can't even end the process
    Jul 28, 2015 7:58 PM - Mike Kelly: finally
Jul 28, 2015 7:58 PM - Mike Glass: I have the stuff to build a laser but going to buy a 3w one for the cnc
Jul 28, 2015 7:59 PM - Mike Kelly: alright i just popped in a new stepper driver
Jul 28, 2015 7:59 PM - Mike Kelly: let's see if this works
Jul 28, 2015 8:00 PM - Mike Kelly: ohhhh yeah
    Jul 28, 2015 8:00 PM - Mike Kelly: that's way better
Jul 28, 2015 8:01 PM - TxKent: Is that a common issue: stepper drivers going south?
    Jul 28, 2015 8:01 PM - Mike Kelly: nope
    Jul 28, 2015 8:01 PM - TxKent: Ok... good.
Jul 28, 2015 8:01 PM - Mike Kelly: but most people don't do as much as i do
    Jul 28, 2015 8:02 PM - Mike Glass: only after a EMP
Jul 28, 2015 8:02 PM - TxKent: Well, let's hope that doesn't happen. Although it might help with my next door neighbor's car stereo
    Jul 28, 2015 8:03 PM - Mike Glass: haha
Jul 28, 2015 8:07 PM - daniel871: I'm taking a break on wiring in the second hotend/thermistor and parts fans. Extruders are plugged in, carriage is together. Hotend fans connected but not mounted yet (have to dial in nozzle heights off of carriage and they block the screws).
Jul 28, 2015 8:08 PM - daniel871: Don't want to adjust the nozzle heights until I have the 2nd hotend plugged in properly.
Jul 28, 2015 8:09 PM - daniel871: That way I can turn on tge robo and use the lcd to raise and lower the carriage while I adjust the hotend heights.
Jul 28, 2015 8:09 PM - daniel871: (Because an absent thermistor signal locks it in the temp error status)
Jul 28, 2015 8:10 PM - daniel871: I put springs between the screw and nut holding the v6s on the carriage, so it should work pretty sweet on adjusting.
Jul 28, 2015 8:13 PM - jbigler1986: Dons carriage is really nice. Cant wait to get back at it
Jul 28, 2015 8:15 PM - donhuevo: eyes up here buddy
Jul 28, 2015 8:15 PM - Mike Kelly: what and mod carriage v2 is chop liver?
    Jul 28, 2015 8:18 PM - jbigler1986: dons have less parts
Jul 28, 2015 8:18 PM - Mike Kelly: use all the parts!
    Jul 28, 2015 8:18 PM - jbigler1986: yours is nice as well
Jul 28, 2015 8:21 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah dons design is really nice
Jul 28, 2015 8:21 PM - TxKent: Night all. Thanks again for the advice.
Jul 28, 2015 8:21 PM - Mike Kelly: how does his do leveling?
Jul 28, 2015 8:21 PM - Mike Kelly: night kent
Jul 28, 2015 8:21 PM - donhuevo: the tops thread into the body
    Jul 28, 2015 8:21 PM - bamhm182: Think I killed my printer again...
Jul 28, 2015 8:22 PM - bamhm182: For some reason the Z won't move at all. I've tried multiple stepper drivers and stepper motors...
    Jul 28, 2015 8:22 PM - donhuevo: [IMG]
Jul 28, 2015 8:23 PM - Mike Kelly: oh right the screws
Jul 28, 2015 8:24 PM - Mike Kelly: what locks the position?
Jul 28, 2015 8:26 PM - donhuevo: nothing yet. hopefully, they require a little force to move
Jul 28, 2015 8:32 PM - Mike Glass: haha for got about the endstop on mine
    Jul 28, 2015 8:34 PM - donhuevo: endstops?
Jul 28, 2015 8:41 PM - Mike Kelly: what printer is this?! I don't even recognize it
    Jul 28, 2015 8:42 PM - Mike Glass: z endstop
    Jul 28, 2015 8:42 PM - Mike Glass: err x endstop
Jul 28, 2015 8:42 PM - donhuevo: on the carriage you're working on?
    Jul 28, 2015 8:43 PM - Mike Glass: yea
Jul 28, 2015 8:43 PM - Mike Glass: I see you added the screw for yours
    Jul 28, 2015 8:44 PM - Mike Kelly: i did?
Jul 28, 2015 8:44 PM - Mike Glass: No Donald
Jul 28, 2015 8:44 PM - donhuevo: that's a really old design. my current setup doesn't use that screw
    Jul 28, 2015 8:44 PM - Mike Kelly: ah
    Jul 28, 2015 8:44 PM - Mike Glass:
Jul 28, 2015 8:45 PM - Mike Glass: what do you use my trusty friend
Jul 28, 2015 8:46 PM - Mike Glass: mk do you have the limit switch on that carriage?

Jul 28, 2015 8:49 PM - Mike Glass: Okso what senses the limit switch if you dont have a screw or the switch on the carriage?
Jul 28, 2015 8:50 PM - donhuevo: the carriage hits the switch
Jul 28, 2015 8:51 PM - Mike Glass: with all those wires in the way?
    Jul 28, 2015 8:52 PM - donhuevo: yup
Jul 28, 2015 8:53 PM - Mike Glass: what did you make the weight out of?
    Jul 28, 2015 8:53 PM - donhuevo: out of a clock counterweight?
    Jul 28, 2015 8:54 PM - Mike Glass: is that a question?
Jul 28, 2015 8:55 PM - donhuevo: I really didn't make it out of anything
Jul 28, 2015 8:56 PM - Mike Glass: so just a figment of my imagination..lol
    Jul 28, 2015 8:57 PM - donhuevo: ok

    Jul 28, 2015 9:13 PM - Mike Glass: geez
Jul 28, 2015 9:14 PM - Mike Kelly: It feels so good to have both my robos running
Jul 28, 2015 9:14 PM - Bigc: Have y'all had a chance to use repetier 1.5.4 and if so what do you think of it
Jul 28, 2015 9:14 PM - Mike Glass: I think it crashed MK
    Jul 28, 2015 9:14 PM - Mike Glass: I havent upgraded yet

Jul 28, 2015 9:16 PM - Mike Kelly: Printing a hollow cute octopus on the 1.7
Jul 28, 2015 9:16 PM - Bigc: mike G or k do you have any advice when it come printing with abs
Jul 28, 2015 9:17 PM - Mike Kelly: Enclosure helps
Jul 28, 2015 9:17 PM - Mike Kelly: Kapton tape and hairspray is really good
Jul 28, 2015 9:18 PM - Mike Kelly: Faster is also generally better with abs
Jul 28, 2015 9:18 PM - Mike Glass: unless its a big I dont have an issue with just using hairspray and 70 bed, if it is bigger then go higher on the bed temp
Jul 28, 2015 9:18 PM - Bigc: Right now I am using AquaNet
Jul 28, 2015 9:19 PM - Mike Glass: yea so it dont warp before its done..lol
Jul 28, 2015 9:21 PM - Mike Glass: Mk its out of focus
Jul 28, 2015 9:22 PM - Bigc: What would you recommend for the print speed and nozzle temp i am running it at 80 For the bed and 240 for the hotend at 20 mm per sec
Jul 28, 2015 9:22 PM - Mike Kelly: Yeah I dunno why the lifecam wasn't focusing
Jul 28, 2015 9:22 PM - Mike Kelly: Bigc do you have a ribbon cable for the bed or does it have a connector
Jul 28, 2015 9:24 PM - Bigc: It is just one long sleeved grey cable
Jul 28, 2015 9:24 PM - Mike Kelly: Did you cut off the connector
Jul 28, 2015 9:25 PM - Mike Kelly: When did you get yours?
Jul 28, 2015 9:25 PM - Bigc: After they started doing the recall on the connector
Jul 28, 2015 9:26 PM - Bigc: And mine did not have the connector
Jul 28, 2015 9:27 PM - Mike Kelly: Ok I would try running the bed at like 100 for the first later then drop down to 85 or 90 after if you can
Jul 28, 2015 9:27 PM - Mike Kelly: Not every software supports that
Jul 28, 2015 9:28 PM - Bigc: I tried it at one point and i got an error
Jul 28, 2015 9:28 PM - Mike Kelly: Update the firmware
Jul 28, 2015 9:28 PM - Mike Kelly: Or modify it to raise the max temp to 110 or so
Jul 28, 2015 9:29 PM - Mike Kelly: And I only print abs at 230-235
Jul 28, 2015 9:30 PM - Bigc: I have to use the ardunio compiler ?
    Jul 28, 2015 9:30 PM - Mike Kelly: yes
Jul 28, 2015 9:31 PM - Mike Kelly: Or if you have m8 rods you can update to v3 in matter control
    Jul 28, 2015 9:31 PM - Mike Glass: SIn
Jul 28, 2015 9:32 PM - Bigc: Let the bricking begin
Jul 28, 2015 9:32 PM - Mike Kelly: Lol Na it's REALLY difficult to brick an arduino
Jul 28, 2015 9:32 PM - Mike Kelly: They have a good fail safe on there
    Jul 28, 2015 9:32 PM - donhuevo: I've done it
    Jul 28, 2015 9:32 PM - Mike Kelly: Shh
    Jul 28, 2015 9:33 PM - Mike Kelly: Don you're special
    Jul 28, 2015 9:33 PM - Mike Glass: I was gonna say

Jul 28, 2015 9:43 PM - Bigc: Do yall have a link to the firmware page is

    Jul 28, 2015 9:55 PM - Bigc: Thx
    Jul 28, 2015 9:56 PM - bamhm182: Np
Jul 28, 2015 9:56 PM - Marquis Johnson: Anyone else get win 10 yet?
Jul 28, 2015 9:57 PM - bamhm182: I've had the technical preview for a while. Just rebooted and looked and the watermark in the bottom right corner is gone, so yup
Jul 28, 2015 9:59 PM - Marquis Johnson: No issues with slicer or anything right? don't have my printer over on the East Coasr
    Jul 28, 2015 9:59 PM - Marquis Johnson: Coast*
    Jul 28, 2015 9:59 PM - bamhm182: Nope
    Jul 28, 2015 9:59 PM - Marquis Johnson: Awesome
Jul 28, 2015 10:16 PM - Bigc: when i try to compile the firmware i get an error
Jul 28, 2015 10:20 PM - Marquis Johnson: Which one?
Jul 28, 2015 10:20 PM - Marquis Johnson: or does it say unknown?
    Jul 28, 2015 10:21 PM - Bigc: Arduino: 1.6.5 (Windows 8.1), Board: "Arduino Mega or Mega 2560, ATmega2560 (Mega 2560)" C:\Users\Chris\Documents\Arduino\libraries\Auto_Level_7_17_516inch_/SdFatUtil.cpp:29: multiple definition of `SdFatUtil::SerialPrintln_P(char const*)' SdFatUtil.cpp.o:C:\Users\Chris\AppData\Local\Temp\build3236958418075780481.tmp/SdFatUtil.cpp:29: first defined here Auto_Level_7_17_516inch_\SdFile.cpp.o: In function `SdFile::write(unsigned char)': C:\Users\C
Jul 28, 2015 10:22 PM - Bigc: That is just part of it but it mostly repeats
Jul 28, 2015 10:23 PM - Marquis Johnson: hmm, that's weird. Was anything changed when you got it, or is that firmware untouched?
    Jul 28, 2015 10:23 PM - Bigc: untouched
Jul 28, 2015 10:24 PM - Bigc: I can give you the full error message
Jul 28, 2015 10:25 PM - Marquis Johnson: eh, sure lets see
Jul 28, 2015 10:26 PM - Bigc: I think i figured it out note to self rtfm
Jul 28, 2015 10:28 PM - Marquis Johnson: lol, what happened?
Jul 28, 2015 10:29 PM - Bigc: I opened the file from the wrong directory
    Jul 28, 2015 10:29 PM - Marquis Johnson: Ah, I see.
Jul 28, 2015 10:39 PM - Bigc: Or not now my lcd is not working and the errors are back
Jul 28, 2015 11:18 PM - Bigc: I had to get an extra library for the lcd u8glib
Jul 29, 2015 3:46 AM - Bill Monroe: Good Morning
    Jul 29, 2015 3:59 AM - daniel871: Morning Bill.
Jul 29, 2015 4:06 AM - daniel871: Found that a wiring diagram that looks like it matches what I'm trying to do to my Robo (except the fan extender bit that will be done last). [IMG]
Jul 29, 2015 4:08 AM - daniel871: So simple now that I'm looking at that.
Jul 29, 2015 4:08 AM - Bill Monroe: standard reprap config
Jul 29, 2015 4:12 AM - daniel871: Would've used the image that was in the E3D upgrade thread, but the actual wiring diagram that used to be in that thread was showing as a broken image link for me for some reason (network is running a bit slow, someone must be doing a backup this morning).
    Jul 29, 2015 4:43 AM - jbigler1986: morning
Jul 29, 2015 4:43 AM - jbigler1986: thats the diagram i used to wire up mine
Jul 29, 2015 4:44 AM - jbigler1986: i just removed the parts fan from D9 i believe and wired it directly to a 12v source with a micro spdt switch
Jul 29, 2015 5:05 AM - JeffTheMess: good morning roboneers
Jul 29, 2015 5:25 AM - JeffTheMess: dual extruder is soooo tempting
Jul 29, 2015 5:32 AM - daniel871: Dual hercustruders with Tatsu v2 drive gears in my case.
Jul 29, 2015 5:33 AM - JeffTheMess: the setup looks easy, but I hear its the coding that is the kicker
Jul 29, 2015 5:34 AM - daniel871: Yeah, I think what I'll end up doing is taking another dual extruder printer profile in S3D and modify it under machine settings until it matches the dual robo setup.
Jul 29, 2015 5:35 AM - daniel871: 2nd extruder will rarely be used after the test two color frog, I think, but I figure while I'm upgrading lead screws and everything else I might as well do everything.
Jul 29, 2015 5:36 AM - daniel871: Then I can do pva/hips support material to rinse out later ss well.
    Jul 29, 2015 5:36 AM - JeffTheMess: nice
    Jul 29, 2015 5:36 AM - daniel871: As

Jul 29, 2015 5:52 AM - JeffTheMess: lol f*ck you master of me!
Jul 29, 2015 5:54 AM - daniel871: For those times when the Robo inexplicably strips filament on the drive gear or gets a clog because someone turned the air conditioner on while you weren't watching the print.
Jul 29, 2015 5:57 AM - JeffTheMess: Robo: all those months of torture and stripping me down, F*ck you!

Jul 29, 2015 6:31 AM - Aaron Mitchell: Click "GET THE APP" button
Jul 29, 2015 6:31 AM - donhuevo: oh! a protective helmet. I'm slow enough, I should be wearing one of those
Jul 29, 2015 6:32 AM - Aaron Mitchell: Once it is downloaded/installed you need to go to the Windows 8 Start Screen (with all the tiles)...mine did not show the tile by default...
Jul 29, 2015 6:32 AM - Mike Glass: lol Don, its ok, thats why you have the helmet..hah
    Jul 29, 2015 6:32 AM - donhuevo: yep
Jul 29, 2015 6:33 AM - Aaron Mitchell: to run the app from the Start Window, click the magnifying glass in top-right corner and type "3D"...3D Builder should show up in the list
Jul 29, 2015 6:34 AM - Mike Glass: thats what I did and did not show up.
Jul 29, 2015 6:34 AM - daniel871: Okay, thanks for that app link. Emailing to myself for when the Windows 10 upgrade drops.
    Jul 29, 2015 6:34 AM - Aaron Mitchell: I am running Windows 10 now
    Jul 29, 2015 6:34 AM - JeffTheMess: I'm still waiting for mine :(
Jul 29, 2015 6:34 AM - Aaron Mitchell: but the 3D builder runs in WIndows 8, as I tested it yesterday...(did the Windows 10 upgrade this morning)
Jul 29, 2015 6:34 AM - daniel871: I have to have my PC on to download it.
Jul 29, 2015 6:35 AM - daniel871: Forgot to turn it on before leaving the house, crap.
    Jul 29, 2015 6:35 AM - Aaron Mitchell: heh...yeah, daniel...definitely a pre-requisite...

Jul 29, 2015 6:38 AM - Aaron Mitchell: The App Store isn't opening?
Jul 29, 2015 6:39 AM - Mike Glass: yea the app store opens fine, just no listing for that app, wonder if it has to be 8.1 to be seen.
    Jul 29, 2015 6:39 AM - Aaron Mitchell: Maybe...you never updated to 8.1?
    Jul 29, 2015 6:40 AM - Aaron Mitchell: eesh...you are a glutton for punishment :)
Jul 29, 2015 6:40 AM - Mike Glass: I think my tablets are, just not this laptop.
Jul 29, 2015 6:40 AM - Aaron Mitchell: Well, I would say that would be the first step...besides the fact 8.1 fixes a lot of annoying issues with 8
Jul 29, 2015 6:40 AM - Aaron Mitchell: ...and 10 finally fixes most everything else...
Jul 29, 2015 6:41 AM - JeffTheMess: for that might as well get ten
    Jul 29, 2015 6:41 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah
Jul 29, 2015 6:41 AM - Mike Glass: I never had any issues with it, but only use it for 3d printing
Jul 29, 2015 6:41 AM - Aaron Mitchell: I have a normal desktop again! No more tiled Start Screen! Woot!
Jul 29, 2015 6:41 AM - Mike Glass: I never had the tiled start screen, that was first thing I disabled
    Jul 29, 2015 6:43 AM - daniel871: I'm on Windows 7 64-bit Pro here and saw it.
Jul 29, 2015 6:43 AM - daniel871: There is a "Upgrade to Windows 10 first" remark on the page though.
Jul 29, 2015 6:43 AM - Mike Glass: all you have to do is install classic shell program and all the goes away and you get a start button.
Jul 29, 2015 6:44 AM - Mike Glass: you have the app store on your windows 7?
    Jul 29, 2015 6:44 AM - daniel871: No, it opened in Chrome.
Jul 29, 2015 6:50 AM - donhuevo: crap. the machine I was going to test 10 on has an incompatible video card. gonna need to pull that out
    Jul 29, 2015 6:51 AM - Aaron Mitchell: [IMG]
    Jul 29, 2015 6:51 AM - Aaron Mitchell: Win10 Desktop
Jul 29, 2015 6:51 AM - Aaron Mitchell: ...Cortana Voice control seems to work well to...smart girl...
    Jul 29, 2015 6:51 AM - Aaron Mitchell: *too
Jul 29, 2015 6:52 AM - Aaron Mitchell: It seems the edit feature has been removed...
Jul 29, 2015 6:52 AM - Aaron Mitchell: (edit feature in Shoutbox)
Jul 29, 2015 6:54 AM - JeffTheMess: master chief must be proud (I know they arent the same)

    Jul 29, 2015 7:04 AM - daniel871: Voice control? Great.
Jul 29, 2015 7:05 AM - JeffTheMess: i wonder what she would say if she knows master chief
Jul 29, 2015 7:25 AM - Mike Glass: well pooey, guess I will see if we have 10 availiable.
    Jul 29, 2015 7:26 AM - Mike Kelly: morning
    Jul 29, 2015 7:28 AM - JeffTheMess: morning
    Jul 29, 2015 7:28 AM - donhuevo: morning
Jul 29, 2015 7:30 AM - Stephen Capistron: MK, if you aren't against moving east, HighRes Biosolutions has an automation / ME position available
Jul 29, 2015 7:31 AM - Stephen Capistron: I really need to get in the habit of proof reading
    Jul 29, 2015 7:31 AM - daniel871: Nah.
    Jul 29, 2015 7:31 AM - Mike Kelly: :)
Jul 29, 2015 7:31 AM - Mike Kelly: cool deal
Jul 29, 2015 7:32 AM - Mike Kelly: the software engineer position?
Jul 29, 2015 7:33 AM - Stephen Capistron: Sr mechanical engineer
    Jul 29, 2015 7:33 AM - Mike Glass: Morning
    Jul 29, 2015 7:33 AM - Mike Kelly: ah i don't have 10+ years experience :)
    Jul 29, 2015 7:34 AM - Stephen Capistron: Masters?
    Jul 29, 2015 7:34 AM - Mike Kelly: yes
Jul 29, 2015 7:35 AM - Stephen Capistron: Then you only need 5+
Jul 29, 2015 7:35 AM - Mike Kelly: still not quite enough
Jul 29, 2015 7:35 AM - Mike Kelly: just finished my 4th year
Jul 29, 2015 7:36 AM - Stephen Capistron: We are engineers, we call that close enough
Jul 29, 2015 7:36 AM - donhuevo: in those 4 years, if you were doing the work of two engineers... carry the one...
    Jul 29, 2015 7:36 AM - Mike Kelly: heh
    Jul 29, 2015 7:36 AM - Mike Kelly: rounding
Jul 29, 2015 7:38 AM - daniel871: Apply anyway. If nobody is jumping on the job opening they'll hire you.

Jul 29, 2015 7:38 AM - daniel871: That or they'll promote inside the company and offer you the vacant position. :p
Jul 29, 2015 7:39 AM - Mike Kelly: also good
Jul 29, 2015 7:45 AM - daniel871: Ugh, the day is going to just crawl by today. So close to being done with the dual setup.
Jul 29, 2015 7:46 AM - daniel871: Two more things to wire up and then the fan extender and everything is ready to go.
Jul 29, 2015 7:46 AM - daniel871: Then just to set S3D up to properly run the Dual Extrusion Wizard on the Robo and see how that works.
Jul 29, 2015 7:47 AM - daniel871: Just realized I haven't been taking photos of every step I took to get here.
    Jul 29, 2015 7:47 AM - daniel871:
Jul 29, 2015 7:48 AM - daniel871: Hey, does anyone that has already done the dual extruder setup have the S3D profile already?
Jul 29, 2015 7:49 AM - daniel871: So that at least the machine control panel will have both extruders showing?
Jul 29, 2015 7:50 AM - daniel871: Or do you just toggle toolheads?
Jul 29, 2015 7:50 AM - Mike Kelly: you use the drop down menu
    Jul 29, 2015 7:50 AM - daniel871: So it's Nozzle 1 is Tool 0, Bed is Tool 1 and Nozzle 2 is Tool 2?
    Jul 29, 2015 7:50 AM - Mike Kelly: nope
Jul 29, 2015 7:50 AM - Mike Kelly: bed isn't on that list
    Jul 29, 2015 7:50 AM - Mike Kelly: tool 1 is nozzle 2
    Jul 29, 2015 7:50 AM - daniel871: That's how the ramps is labelled.
    Jul 29, 2015 7:50 AM - Mike Kelly: T0 = thermistor
Jul 29, 2015 7:51 AM - Mike Kelly: not tool
    Jul 29, 2015 7:51 AM - daniel871: O, 1, 2, oops.
    Jul 29, 2015 7:51 AM - daniel871: So tool 1 reads thermistor 2?
Jul 29, 2015 7:51 AM - Mike Kelly: well yeah it reads whatever you define the second extruder pin as
Jul 29, 2015 7:52 AM - daniel871: Went with motherboard 34, which I think defines it that way.
Jul 29, 2015 7:52 AM - Mike Kelly: yes it does
Jul 29, 2015 7:52 AM - Mike Kelly: but simplify doesn't care about such things
    Jul 29, 2015 7:53 AM - daniel871: Hm.
Jul 29, 2015 7:53 AM - Mike Kelly: it just says "hey motherboard, what' the extruder temps"
    Jul 29, 2015 7:53 AM - Mike Kelly: "210 and 210 kthxbye"
Jul 29, 2015 7:53 AM - daniel871: Do I need to do anything to make Simplify aware there are two extruders, or will the wizard take care of that when I say Tool 0 or Tool 1?
    Jul 29, 2015 7:53 AM - Mike Kelly: hmm
Jul 29, 2015 7:54 AM - Mike Kelly: i haven't actually used simplify with my dual robo
Jul 29, 2015 7:54 AM - Mike Kelly: i think there's a firmware configuration you need to change
    Jul 29, 2015 7:54 AM - Mike Kelly: so it knows there's 2
Jul 29, 2015 7:55 AM - daniel871: You can add the nozzle offsets in the Options - > Machine tab.
Jul 29, 2015 7:56 AM - Mike Kelly: i prefer adding the offset in firmware so i don't have to reslice to change it
Jul 29, 2015 7:56 AM - daniel871: But I don't know if that will fight with the firmware offsets for the same thing or not.
Jul 29, 2015 7:56 AM - Mike Kelly: yes it will
    Jul 29, 2015 7:56 AM - daniel871: So leave all that at 0
    Jul 29, 2015 7:56 AM - Mike Kelly: yup
Jul 29, 2015 8:00 AM - daniel871: Hm. S3D won't let me choose the Robo as the dual printer. Keeps putting a the leapfrog creatr dual in there.
Jul 29, 2015 8:04 AM - Mike Glass: $12.99 a roll for some colors JustPLA on amazon, cinnamon is up to $29, wth.
Jul 29, 2015 8:05 AM - Mike Kelly: glad i got that when i did then
Jul 29, 2015 8:05 AM - Mike Glass: white went up too. I need 2 more rolls of that for the chair
Jul 29, 2015 8:07 AM - Mike Kelly: whats the name of that huge 3d model search site
    Jul 29, 2015 8:07 AM - Mike Glass: yeggi
    Jul 29, 2015 8:07 AM - Mike Kelly: ty
    Jul 29, 2015 8:11 AM - daniel871: Welp, fired a support email off to S3D.
Jul 29, 2015 8:11 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah joey should be able to help you out
Jul 29, 2015 8:11 AM - daniel871: Because while I was looking at the Dual Extrusion Wizard S3D decided to lock me out and ignore my actual password.
    Jul 29, 2015 8:11 AM - daniel871: WTF.
Jul 29, 2015 8:12 AM - daniel871: Same password to login to the S3D account site as is used on the program, so I don't know wtf.
Jul 29, 2015 8:14 AM - Mike Kelly: bad morning for ya
    Jul 29, 2015 8:14 AM - daniel871: Just typical network issues I'm sure.
Jul 29, 2015 8:15 AM - daniel871: Because there is no reason for the login to work on the website but not work on the program.
Jul 29, 2015 8:15 AM - daniel871: (unless whatever server is checked on the program isn't responding)
Jul 29, 2015 8:30 AM - Mike Kelly: i wish simplify3d was better about dual extrusion support
    Jul 29, 2015 8:30 AM - daniel871: Here's a printer for JB.

    Jul 29, 2015 8:35 AM - daniel871: What drive gear?
    Jul 29, 2015 8:36 AM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
Jul 29, 2015 8:36 AM - Mike Glass: I need that for my desk at work.
Jul 29, 2015 8:37 AM - donhuevo: the v6 looks huge inside it
    Jul 29, 2015 8:37 AM - jbigler1986: put a different drive gear on it
Jul 29, 2015 8:37 AM - daniel871: Change that drive gear out for a Tatsu.
    Jul 29, 2015 8:37 AM - daniel871: Haha.
    Jul 29, 2015 8:37 AM - daniel871: 80mm x 80mm x80mm print size.

Jul 29, 2015 8:38 AM - Mike Glass: slow printing
    Jul 29, 2015 8:38 AM - daniel871: Probably just go really slow.
Jul 29, 2015 8:38 AM - jbigler1986: i tried with several different drive gears and they ketp stalling
    Jul 29, 2015 8:38 AM - jbigler1986: even slow they stall
Jul 29, 2015 8:39 AM - daniel871: Did you see that Zmorph thing JB?

    Jul 29, 2015 8:43 AM - daniel871: Or
    Jul 29, 2015 8:44 AM - daniel871: Also a neat time-lapse of someone building a delta.
    Jul 29, 2015 8:47 AM - Mike Kelly: that's a pretty cool DIY delta

Jul 29, 2015 8:50 AM - Mike Kelly: that looks fun
Jul 29, 2015 8:52 AM - Mike Kelly: also i'm not sure how the rostock max v2 works with an ezstruder and no geared stepper
Jul 29, 2015 8:52 AM - Mike Kelly: some kind of witchcraft i'm sure
    Jul 29, 2015 8:52 AM - jbigler1986: it really baffles me
Jul 29, 2015 8:59 AM - Mike Kelly: Didn't have any under extrusion yesterday. Think I need to recalibrate my esteps a bit. Came out kinda ugly
Jul 29, 2015 8:59 AM - daniel871: Time to eat lunch and play World of Warships
    Jul 29, 2015 9:00 AM - Mike Glass: ROBO car..lol [IMG]

Jul 29, 2015 9:04 AM - Mike Glass: whats your build area, 2"
Jul 29, 2015 9:04 AM - jbigler1986: the rod is way to small. jeeze

Jul 29, 2015 9:06 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i'm really not a very clean person like... at all
Jul 29, 2015 9:07 AM - Mike Glass: I hate clutter, but it consumes me sometimes.

    Jul 29, 2015 9:13 AM - donhuevo: opinions? [IMG]
    Jul 29, 2015 9:13 AM - Mike Kelly: it's a U
    Jul 29, 2015 9:14 AM - donhuevo: kinda is
Jul 29, 2015 9:14 AM - Mike Kelly: is this your attempt to make the carriage as minimal as possible
Jul 29, 2015 9:15 AM - donhuevo: aiming for lightweight yes
    Jul 29, 2015 9:16 AM - donhuevo: it's only 40 wide instead of 48
Jul 29, 2015 9:17 AM - Mike Kelly: i guess you're not a fan of print one at a time then
    Jul 29, 2015 9:18 AM - donhuevo: ?
Jul 29, 2015 9:18 AM - Mike Kelly: for printing multiple objects in one run but where it does each object sequentially
Jul 29, 2015 9:18 AM - Mike Kelly: you need some space from the nozzle to the rails for it
Jul 29, 2015 9:19 AM - donhuevo: ah. no. never bothered much with that
Jul 29, 2015 9:19 AM - donhuevo: the carriage will be flush with the bottom of the heatsink
    Jul 29, 2015 9:19 AM - Mike Kelly: right
Jul 29, 2015 9:20 AM - Mike Kelly: how you gonna fit the fans
Jul 29, 2015 9:20 AM - donhuevo: heatsink fan is figured out. parts fan is not
Jul 29, 2015 9:55 AM - Mike Kelly: parts fan is the most annoying thing to me
Jul 29, 2015 9:56 AM - Mike Glass: just use abs
    Jul 29, 2015 9:56 AM - Mike Kelly: that's what i do lol
Jul 29, 2015 9:57 AM - donhuevo: yes you do
Jul 29, 2015 9:57 AM - Mike Kelly: i really need to make a fan splitter and try a pla print on that thing
Jul 29, 2015 9:58 AM - Mike Glass: so your talking about space from the nozzle to the rails, are you changing the rail seperation?
Jul 29, 2015 9:58 AM - Mike Kelly: haven't done PLA on it in who knows how long
Jul 29, 2015 9:58 AM - Mike Glass: how did froggy turn out?
    Jul 29, 2015 9:59 AM - donhuevo: rails still @ 83
    Jul 29, 2015 9:59 AM - Mike Kelly: frugly
    Jul 29, 2015 9:59 AM - Mike Glass: lol
    Jul 29, 2015 9:59 AM - donhuevo: haha
Jul 29, 2015 10:00 AM - Mike Kelly: but i'm staying positive, no under extrusion
    Jul 29, 2015 10:00 AM - donhuevo: it's looking like two 30mm parts fans
Jul 29, 2015 10:00 AM - Mike Kelly: i think it actually over extruded so i'm gonna do another estep calibration
Jul 29, 2015 10:01 AM - Mike Glass: So, is it better to prevent curling with lower heat less fan, or more fan more heat. Having some issues if i go to low on heat it starts to grind in the hob.
Jul 29, 2015 10:02 AM - Mike Glass: not sure if there is a happy medium
Jul 29, 2015 10:03 AM - Mike Glass: err go less heat less fan, does that make sense?
Jul 29, 2015 10:03 AM - Mike Kelly: curling with PLA?
    Jul 29, 2015 10:03 AM - Mike Glass: yes
Jul 29, 2015 10:03 AM - Mike Kelly: less heat more fan
Jul 29, 2015 10:04 AM - Mike Glass: but if I go any lower it just grinds in the hob, these puzzle piece have overhangs that im having an issue on just the first 10 layers or so.
Jul 29, 2015 10:05 AM - Mike Glass: or should I enable z hop and not worry about it
    Jul 29, 2015 10:06 AM - Mike Kelly: http://imgur.com/a/Ko7tF frugly frog
Jul 29, 2015 10:07 AM - Mike Kelly: i think it might have an ooze issue as well
Jul 29, 2015 10:07 AM - Mike Kelly: might try again with an ooze guard
Jul 29, 2015 10:07 AM - Mike Kelly: though i think i'm just gonna print the new Z bracket for the MPCNC instead
Jul 29, 2015 10:07 AM - Mike Glass: give him a acetone bath

Jul 29, 2015 10:08 AM - Mike Kelly: add more support
Jul 29, 2015 10:08 AM - donhuevo: yes, try and be more supportive
Jul 29, 2015 10:09 AM - Mike Glass: oh boo, dont like that..lol
Jul 29, 2015 10:09 AM - Mike Kelly: just thought of a really crude way to describe ABS
Jul 29, 2015 10:09 AM - Mike Kelly: wanna hear it?
    Jul 29, 2015 10:10 AM - Mike Glass: %
    Jul 29, 2015 10:10 AM - donhuevo: sure
    Jul 29, 2015 10:10 AM - Mike Kelly: don't say i didn't warn you
Jul 29, 2015 10:10 AM - Mike Kelly: "Printing ABS is like anal sex, can be great but sometimes you end up with shit"
    Jul 29, 2015 10:11 AM - Mike Glass: lol
Jul 29, 2015 10:11 AM - donhuevo: nurse, give that man 20 minutes of porn stat
Jul 29, 2015 10:12 AM - Mike Glass: would going to fast also encourage curling?
Jul 29, 2015 10:13 AM - Mike Kelly: got a big ass fan?
    Jul 29, 2015 10:13 AM - donhuevo: no sir
Jul 29, 2015 10:13 AM - Mike Kelly: just put it in front of the printer
Jul 29, 2015 10:13 AM - donhuevo: curling is only encouraged with temperature differences
Jul 29, 2015 10:14 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm gonna go media blast this frog
Jul 29, 2015 10:14 AM - Mike Kelly: curious how it'll turn out
Jul 29, 2015 10:14 AM - Mike Glass: I dont have an issue with other prints, just these dam puzzle pieces
Jul 29, 2015 10:15 AM - Mike Glass: I think most of the issue is air is not getting to the spot due to the supports.
    Jul 29, 2015 10:15 AM - JeffTheMess: http://www.bigassfans.com/product/
Jul 29, 2015 10:15 AM - Mike Glass: I want a bigassfan for my shop, those are so cool.
Jul 29, 2015 10:18 AM - Mike Kelly: for sure
Jul 29, 2015 10:18 AM - JeffTheMess: they are indeed
Jul 29, 2015 10:18 AM - Mike Kelly: i stuck a fan in front of my printer, makes a big difference
Jul 29, 2015 10:19 AM - Mike Glass: I used to do that when I had only one part fan, it did indeed work good.
Jul 29, 2015 10:20 AM - Mike Kelly: this frog looks like a toad
Jul 29, 2015 10:26 AM - Stephen Capistron: their big ass lights are neat too
Jul 29, 2015 10:29 AM - Stephen Capistron: when you set up a fan outdoors, you know it is hot out
    Jul 29, 2015 10:31 AM - JeffTheMess: https://www.youmagine.com/designs/mkiii-clone-r1-active-cooling-duct
    Jul 29, 2015 10:34 AM - daniel871: Ugh.
Jul 29, 2015 10:35 AM - daniel871: S3D support response was "what error are you getting?" and "can you send me the FFF file you're using for the multiple hotends" in response to "S3D is ignoring my login info" and "How do I set up a custom printer based on the Robo3D R1 profile to use dual extruders?"
    Jul 29, 2015 10:35 AM - daniel871: "printer profile/factory file based on"
Jul 29, 2015 10:42 AM - Mike Kelly: stupid dog going to the place next door
Jul 29, 2015 10:43 AM - Mike Kelly: i think she's lost shop privileges because she keeps wandering off
Jul 29, 2015 10:47 AM - Mike Kelly: i need to lojack her
Jul 29, 2015 10:52 AM - Stephen Capistron: her boyfriend must live next door
Jul 29, 2015 10:57 AM - daniel871: Oh, duh. there is an Add Extruder button right there in the FFF Profile settings.
    Jul 29, 2015 10:57 AM - daniel871: Fuck.
    Jul 29, 2015 10:58 AM - Mike Kelly: :)
Jul 29, 2015 11:00 AM - Mike Kelly: in other news this thing came out great:

Jul 29, 2015 11:00 AM - Mike Kelly: really like this transparent orange
    Jul 29, 2015 11:00 AM - Mike Kelly: it's fun
Jul 29, 2015 11:01 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah its pretty
Jul 29, 2015 11:02 AM - Mike Kelly: i'll get a shot of it lit up later
Jul 29, 2015 11:04 AM - Mike Glass: nice, is that the cheap stuff you got?
Jul 29, 2015 11:08 AM - WheresWaldo: Is that translucent orange PLA or ABS?
Jul 29, 2015 11:11 AM - daniel871: Print some fake oranges and see if anyone is tempted to bite them.
    Jul 29, 2015 11:11 AM - daniel871: Orange slices.
    Jul 29, 2015 11:11 AM - daniel871: (then it'd look like those candied things)
    Jul 29, 2015 11:17 AM - Mike Kelly: lol
    Jul 29, 2015 11:18 AM - Mike Kelly: it's PLA waldo
Jul 29, 2015 11:18 AM - Mike Kelly: justPLA brand
Jul 29, 2015 11:21 AM - daniel871: So f'n close to having the dual robo running.
    Jul 29, 2015 11:22 AM - Mike Kelly: heh
Jul 29, 2015 11:22 AM - Mike Kelly: just use cura
Jul 29, 2015 11:22 AM - Mike Kelly: much easier
    Jul 29, 2015 11:22 AM - daniel871: I meant on the hardware side.
    Jul 29, 2015 11:23 AM - Mike Kelly: ah
Jul 29, 2015 11:23 AM - daniel871: Waiting on the fan extender to come in and finish wiring everything up.
Jul 29, 2015 11:23 AM - Mike Kelly: whats left
Jul 29, 2015 11:23 AM - daniel871: May just finish wiring everything in and leave the parts fan hanging and print PET+ or T-glase test prints.
Jul 29, 2015 11:24 AM - Mike Kelly: no abs?
Jul 29, 2015 11:24 AM - daniel871: Or that, since I'll be putting the Robo in the shop I won't have to worry about the smell.
Jul 29, 2015 11:24 AM - daniel871: Well ventilated building with huge open work space.
    Jul 29, 2015 11:25 AM - Mike Kelly: yup
Jul 29, 2015 11:25 AM - Mike Kelly: i never even notice the smell
Jul 29, 2015 11:25 AM - Mike Kelly: plus you have an enclosure
Jul 29, 2015 11:25 AM - daniel871: 25' x 50' to play with, all wired up and I'll be spending this weekend with my dad getting his drill presses and such organized around the building.
    Jul 29, 2015 11:25 AM - Mike Kelly: sweet
Jul 29, 2015 11:26 AM - Mike Kelly: http://imgur.com/a/TOmnS update on the froggie after blasting and polish
Jul 29, 2015 11:26 AM - daniel871: Robo will be on a little nightstand like table next to the rolling cabinet I'm storing filament in.
    Jul 29, 2015 11:27 AM - Mike Kelly: nice
    Jul 29, 2015 11:27 AM - JeffTheMess: nice MK
Jul 29, 2015 11:27 AM - daniel871: That's exactly what I'm planning to do with the dual once I have it running.
Jul 29, 2015 11:27 AM - daniel871: Figure it'll prove pretty quickly whether I have everything set up right or not.
Jul 29, 2015 11:28 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah this thing is a bitch to print
Jul 29, 2015 11:35 AM - daniel871: Wonder how it would look in green and red t-glase....
    Jul 29, 2015 11:38 AM - Mike Kelly: hmm
Jul 29, 2015 11:38 AM - Mike Kelly: interesting probably
Jul 29, 2015 11:41 AM - daniel871: Figure even if it wasn't transparent, it should look pretty darn shiny.
Jul 29, 2015 11:41 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah though the light refraction between the two might come our brownish
Jul 29, 2015 11:42 AM - donhuevo: like that ABfnS reference you made earlier
    Jul 29, 2015 11:42 AM - Mike Kelly: haha
Jul 29, 2015 11:43 AM - Mike Kelly: at least with abs I can turn a nasty print and make it something cool looking
Jul 29, 2015 11:44 AM - donhuevo: what is it they say about polishing turds?
Jul 29, 2015 11:44 AM - Mike Kelly: that it looks shiny?
    Jul 29, 2015 11:44 AM - donhuevo: yeah, that's probably it
Jul 29, 2015 11:45 AM - Mike Kelly: i've got some MEK substitute, i should try polishing this translucent orange
Jul 29, 2015 11:48 AM - Mike Kelly: i wonder if we can add a phrase converter so whenever someone says "i'm not good at" it changes it to "I can't be bothered to"
    Jul 29, 2015 11:49 AM - donhuevo: Word
Jul 29, 2015 11:51 AM - Stephen Capistron: I liked the guy that jumped in here the other day and started with OMG
    Jul 29, 2015 11:53 AM - Mike Kelly: haha
Jul 29, 2015 11:54 AM - Mike Glass: Frugly looks good MK
Jul 29, 2015 11:54 AM - Bigc: OMG I think i have got the firmware working
    Jul 29, 2015 11:54 AM - Mike Glass: haha
Jul 29, 2015 11:55 AM - Mike Glass: Hey MK adding z hop and a little more support, seemed to have helped alot.
Jul 29, 2015 11:55 AM - Mike Glass: Now I dont have to babysit these prints
Jul 29, 2015 11:56 AM - Stephen Capistron: Famous last words
Jul 29, 2015 11:56 AM - Mike Glass: 75 prints left to do.
    Jul 29, 2015 11:56 AM - Mike Glass: thats 300 hours..ugg
Jul 29, 2015 11:57 AM - Bigc: Hey Were would i find the plans for the enclosure For the robo
    Jul 29, 2015 11:57 AM - Bigc: For abs
Jul 29, 2015 11:57 AM - Stephen Capistron: How much does this chair "cost"?
    Jul 29, 2015 11:57 AM - Mike Glass: thingiverse
Jul 29, 2015 11:58 AM - Mike Glass: about $80 plus a few broom sticks
Jul 29, 2015 11:58 AM - Stephen Capistron: Not as bad as I'd have expected
Jul 29, 2015 11:58 AM - Mike Glass: at $16 a roll its very cheap.
Jul 29, 2015 11:59 AM - Stephen Capistron: You are going to print your own broom sticks right?
Jul 29, 2015 11:59 AM - Mike Glass: Yep on the BAP
Jul 29, 2015 12:00 PM - Mike Glass: could do it on the multitool im extending it out to 28x19"
Jul 29, 2015 12:06 PM - daniel871: Is there any reason I can't go ahead and do tests of the dual extruder setup with ABS and just wire up the parts fan to the RAMPS when I get the extender?
Jul 29, 2015 12:06 PM - daniel871: Or PET+ or T-glase or any filament where "make sure the part cooling fan is off" is the best way to print?
Jul 29, 2015 12:06 PM - Mike Glass: not sure why you couldnt
Jul 29, 2015 12:07 PM - Mike Glass: I use a fan with tglase though it makes it more transparent for some reason
Jul 29, 2015 12:07 PM - daniel871: I think I'm going to just get everything wired up and have the parts fan wires capped until the extender comes in and start slicing stuff.
Jul 29, 2015 12:10 PM - daniel871: Because f waiting until August 12th at the earliest to be printing again.
    Jul 29, 2015 12:11 PM - Mike Glass: (.)(.)
Jul 29, 2015 12:12 PM - Mike Glass: that ones for you Don
Jul 29, 2015 12:12 PM - Mike Kelly: yup she's definitely showing off her "talents"
    Jul 29, 2015 12:12 PM - Mike Glass: holy effin hell...haha
Jul 29, 2015 12:15 PM - daniel871: Send that to the DOA fighting game creators so they get jiggle physics right in the next game.
Jul 29, 2015 12:15 PM - Mike Kelly: the boob jiggle ruined my immersion!
Jul 29, 2015 12:16 PM - donhuevo: for me? really??
Jul 29, 2015 12:17 PM - donhuevo: as much as I appreciated the visuals, Stevie was rolling over in his grave
Jul 29, 2015 12:17 PM - donhuevo: her 'Wonderwall' is a bit better
Jul 29, 2015 12:17 PM - Mike Kelly: better to watch it on mute
Jul 29, 2015 12:17 PM - daniel871: The only "Stevie" worth listening to was in Fleetwood Mac.
    Jul 29, 2015 12:20 PM - mark tomlinson: SRV
Jul 29, 2015 12:20 PM - mark tomlinson: just sayin
    Jul 29, 2015 12:21 PM - donhuevo: ^
Jul 29, 2015 12:26 PM - Mike Kelly: man i hate not knowing what to print
    Jul 29, 2015 12:31 PM - JeffTheMess: chess set?
Jul 29, 2015 12:34 PM - donhuevo: 'Word' from one angle, 'You're a fucking idiot' from the other?
Jul 29, 2015 12:36 PM - Mike Kelly: i do need to print a chess board for the squirrel chess set i made
Jul 29, 2015 12:38 PM - Mike Glass: you only have 20 days to do so
    Jul 29, 2015 12:38 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah that's true
Jul 29, 2015 12:38 PM - Mike Kelly: surprised you remember that
Jul 29, 2015 12:39 PM - Mike Glass: its my birthday month
    Jul 29, 2015 12:40 PM - Mike Kelly: ah

Jul 29, 2015 12:41 PM - Mike Kelly: the squirrels are tan and grey
Jul 29, 2015 12:41 PM - Mike Kelly: maybe i should do blue and yellow for michigan colors
Jul 29, 2015 12:41 PM - donhuevo: dude's pretty proud of those calipers
Jul 29, 2015 12:42 PM - Stephen Capistron: have one be translucent so it can be illuminated from underneath
Jul 29, 2015 12:42 PM - Mike Glass: My fav colors MK
    Jul 29, 2015 12:43 PM - Mike Kelly: hmm i should try out that PET+ i got
    Jul 29, 2015 12:43 PM - Mike Kelly: it's a nice dark blue
    Jul 29, 2015 12:45 PM - JeffTheMess:
Jul 29, 2015 12:46 PM - Mike Kelly: don't have the right yellow though
Jul 29, 2015 12:48 PM - Mike Kelly: anyone know of a dark yellow filament?
    Jul 29, 2015 12:48 PM - Mike Kelly: "Maize"
Jul 29, 2015 12:49 PM - daniel871: Haha, *of course* Ben Mac is eyeballing more expensive printers for future machine purchases already.
    Jul 29, 2015 1:03 PM - jbigler1986: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
    Jul 29, 2015 1:04 PM - jbigler1986: damnit. i keep forgetting i cant edit
Jul 29, 2015 1:05 PM - Mike Glass: make a sharpie holder and mix black with the yellow..
    Jul 29, 2015 1:06 PM - Mike Kelly: lol
Jul 29, 2015 1:08 PM - Mike Glass: should work, I have done with clear
    Jul 29, 2015 1:37 PM - donhuevo:
    Jul 29, 2015 2:05 PM - bamhm182: http://www.ebay.com/itm/RAMPS-1-4-C...858?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item419985f732
Jul 29, 2015 2:05 PM - bamhm182: Definitely need some of these. Haha
    Jul 29, 2015 2:07 PM - Mike Glass: nice
Jul 29, 2015 2:12 PM - bamhm182: Testing the arduino to make sure it's working completely, then going to test my RAMPS
Jul 29, 2015 2:12 PM - bamhm182: I feel like something got fried when I was screwing around with the pots
Jul 29, 2015 2:13 PM - bamhm182: On the plus side, looks like you can get both pretty cheap on eBay
Jul 29, 2015 2:14 PM - Shadow_bullet: Hi, just got.my printer and I'm going over it. Had to use the replacement part for the y axis. One question while the glass is off. Is there supposed to be one or two switches to stop the bed?
    Jul 29, 2015 2:15 PM - daniel871: One.
    Jul 29, 2015 2:15 PM - Shadow_bullet: :) great!
Jul 29, 2015 2:16 PM - daniel871: And it is for homing only, not an estop like a cnc mill
    Jul 29, 2015 2:16 PM - bamhm182: Right
Jul 29, 2015 2:19 PM - Shadow_bullet: Aww, the other one is broke as well... Time to find some super glue...
    Jul 29, 2015 2:23 PM - bamhm182: Other what?
Jul 29, 2015 2:23 PM - daniel871: Take pics and file a replacement part request.
    Jul 29, 2015 2:23 PM - daniel871: Y axis belt clip I bet.
Jul 29, 2015 2:32 PM - Mike Glass: they should of just used wire ties, that what I did on mine.
Jul 29, 2015 2:42 PM - Shadow_bullet: Yup, sorry on my phone. I glued and taped it until I print 35 of them.
Jul 29, 2015 2:42 PM - Shadow_bullet: I might go your way and use a different way to hold the belt.
Jul 29, 2015 2:43 PM - bamhm182: When uploading a firmware, you guys have been using "Arduino Mega or Mega 2560" as the board, right?
    Jul 29, 2015 2:43 PM - donhuevo: 2560
Jul 29, 2015 2:44 PM - bamhm182: I'm trying to get a basic Hello World running on it, but it's not returning anything to the serial port
Jul 29, 2015 2:44 PM - bamhm182: Tried the exact same code with my Teensy and it works fine...
Jul 29, 2015 2:45 PM - bamhm182: It seems like it's got to be working on some level since the X/Y/E worked fine, it's just the Z that's screwed up
Jul 29, 2015 2:46 PM - bamhm182: And I'm assuming the serial port isn't screw up since it lets me upload the code to it in the first place
    Jul 29, 2015 2:47 PM - donhuevo: no z even on homing?
    Jul 29, 2015 2:50 PM - bamhm182: Right
Jul 29, 2015 2:50 PM - bamhm182: No matter what I've tried to do to get the z axis working, it doesn't
Jul 29, 2015 2:50 PM - donhuevo: so we don't know yet if its stepper, driver, endstop or what?
Jul 29, 2015 2:50 PM - bamhm182: It doesn't budge or even try to budge
    Jul 29, 2015 2:50 PM - bamhm182: I've tested the motors on X and they work
    Jul 29, 2015 2:50 PM - bamhm182: I've tested other motors on Z and they don't
    Jul 29, 2015 2:50 PM - donhuevo: motor/motor wiring check
Jul 29, 2015 2:51 PM - donhuevo: so we're down to z driver and endstop
    Jul 29, 2015 2:51 PM - bamhm182: I've swapped the z driver to x and x works, x to z and z still doesn't work
    Jul 29, 2015 2:51 PM - donhuevo: spare driver?
Jul 29, 2015 2:51 PM - bamhm182: If it were because of the switch, it would move in the positive direction, but not in the negative direction
    Jul 29, 2015 2:52 PM - bamhm182: I'm thinking that the issue is before/the driver
Jul 29, 2015 2:52 PM - donhuevo: have you ever separated ramps from mega?
    Jul 29, 2015 2:52 PM - bamhm182: It's separated right now
    Jul 29, 2015 2:52 PM - bamhm182: First time I've done that though
Jul 29, 2015 2:53 PM - bamhm182: Also, it stopped working before I did that
Jul 29, 2015 2:53 PM - donhuevo: all the pins under the ramps look good and straight?
    Jul 29, 2015 2:53 PM - bamhm182: Yup
Jul 29, 2015 2:54 PM - donhuevo: did you try another driver before taking them apart?
    Jul 29, 2015 2:54 PM - bamhm182: Yeah
    Jul 29, 2015 2:54 PM - bamhm182: Like I said, I tried swapping the drivers all around
Jul 29, 2015 2:54 PM - donhuevo: any driver you put in the z spot fails to work
Jul 29, 2015 2:55 PM - bamhm182: Same ones that wouldn't work in Z would work in X/Y. Same ones that would work in X/Y don't work in Z
Jul 29, 2015 2:55 PM - donhuevo: z is tuned to push two motors. x, y and e are tuned for one
Jul 29, 2015 2:57 PM - bamhm182: Found out what was going on with that serial issue. I needed to set Serial.begin(X) so X=115200, not 9600. Video I was watching said it needed to be set to 9600
Jul 29, 2015 2:58 PM - bamhm182: Yeah, but the voltage I had them set at would result in some sort of movement, even if it was too high/low for the 1/2 motors
Jul 29, 2015 2:58 PM - bamhm182: At very least, it would make some noise
Jul 29, 2015 2:59 PM - donhuevo: that I'm not sure of. maybe not even a hum
    Jul 29, 2015 2:59 PM - donhuevo: do you have a spare?
    Jul 29, 2015 3:00 PM - bamhm182: Yeah
Jul 29, 2015 3:00 PM - bamhm182: I'll hook it back up and check it, but I'm fairly confident that isn't the issue
Jul 29, 2015 3:01 PM - bamhm182: Now for the hard part, remembering where I put the robo firmware on my computer. >_<
Jul 29, 2015 3:01 PM - donhuevo: once all together, turn the pot it's full spectrum while z is moving
Jul 29, 2015 3:01 PM - donhuevo: right, it only knows how to say hello at the moment
    Jul 29, 2015 3:02 PM - bamhm182: Found it in Arduino's Open Recent dropdown
    Jul 29, 2015 3:03 PM - bamhm182: Yeah, haha
    Jul 29, 2015 3:10 PM - bamhm182: Alright, I don't get it...
Jul 29, 2015 3:11 PM - bamhm182: I hooked up JUST the power, therms, the driver that I pulled from X (didn't touch the pot yet), and one of my motors from before I did the Z upgrade and it's working on
    Jul 29, 2015 3:11 PM - bamhm182: *now
    Jul 29, 2015 3:12 PM - donhuevo: shrugging
Jul 29, 2015 3:12 PM - bamhm182: The only thing that changed is that I had everything else hooked up yesterday. I tried literally the EXACT same setup other than that yesterday and it wouldn't even acknowledge the motors were connectec
    Jul 29, 2015 3:12 PM - bamhm182: *connected
Jul 29, 2015 3:12 PM - bamhm182: Side note, I miss being able to edit my message. Darn me for pointing out that we could edit other peoples' messages!
Jul 29, 2015 3:13 PM - donhuevo: keep adding components back in and testing
    Jul 29, 2015 3:13 PM - bamhm182: Will do
Jul 29, 2015 3:13 PM - bamhm182: Now for the hard part of remembering which of my pile of drivers work. >_<
Jul 29, 2015 3:14 PM - donhuevo: how about if I we ever meet face-to-face, I owe you a good smacking
Jul 29, 2015 3:14 PM - donhuevo: maybe a nice shcuff to the back of the head
    Jul 29, 2015 3:27 PM - jbigler1986: what up
Jul 29, 2015 3:28 PM - jbigler1986: idk what you guys do when upgrading. i have changed so much stuff and have yet to have it not work after messing with it
    Jul 29, 2015 3:29 PM - bamhm182: Haha, yeeeeeah
    Jul 29, 2015 3:29 PM - bamhm182: [IMG]
Jul 29, 2015 3:29 PM - bamhm182: Only downside is that it doesn't stop me from doing it...
    Jul 29, 2015 3:29 PM - bamhm182: Hey jb
Jul 29, 2015 3:30 PM - bamhm182: Well I mean, it works after I'm done messing with it, it's just that the messing with it part takes a long time
    Jul 29, 2015 3:32 PM - jbigler1986: yeah it does

Jul 29, 2015 3:34 PM - jbigler1986: then spent 3 hours fixing his screw ups on amazon
    Jul 29, 2015 3:34 PM - donhuevo: that sucks
Jul 29, 2015 3:35 PM - jbigler1986: yeah i felt bad. he just moved and is getting married in 2 months
    Jul 29, 2015 3:35 PM - jbigler1986: had to happen though
    Jul 29, 2015 3:36 PM - bamhm182: Yikes
    Jul 29, 2015 3:36 PM - Mike Kelly: ouch
Jul 29, 2015 3:36 PM - bamhm182: Makes me glad I'm in the military. I'd literally have to kill someone to get fired
Jul 29, 2015 3:36 PM - bamhm182: Either that or fail two consecutive PT tests
    Jul 29, 2015 3:37 PM - jbigler1986: or fail drug tests
    Jul 29, 2015 3:37 PM - jbigler1986: or get a bunch of duis
Jul 29, 2015 3:37 PM - jbigler1986: there are ways. easiest is to fail pt test though
Jul 29, 2015 3:37 PM - Mike Kelly: or a lot of reasons
    Jul 29, 2015 3:38 PM - donhuevo: I have nobody to fire
    Jul 29, 2015 3:38 PM - jbigler1986: hey. are you allowed here
Jul 29, 2015 3:38 PM - jbigler1986: i saw MK at the makerbot forums earlier. tisk tisk
    Jul 29, 2015 3:38 PM - Mike Kelly: where?
    Jul 29, 2015 3:39 PM - jbigler1986: over there
Jul 29, 2015 3:39 PM - donhuevo: cheating on us jb?
    Jul 29, 2015 3:39 PM - jbigler1986: i'm totally making this us
    Jul 29, 2015 3:39 PM - jbigler1986: damnit. up*
Jul 29, 2015 3:39 PM - Mike Kelly: i was gonna say i was at the doctors
    Jul 29, 2015 3:40 PM - jbigler1986: makerbot doctors?
    Jul 29, 2015 3:40 PM - jbigler1986: i hear it's a good business
Jul 29, 2015 3:40 PM - Mike Kelly: i should start a makerbot repair company
    Jul 29, 2015 3:40 PM - Mike Kelly: i'd be a millionare within a week
    Jul 29, 2015 3:41 PM - jbigler1986: yep
    Jul 29, 2015 3:41 PM - bamhm182: They always breaking?
Jul 29, 2015 3:42 PM - Mike Kelly: like always always
    Jul 29, 2015 3:42 PM - Mike Kelly: i need a better spool holder for the 1.7
Jul 29, 2015 3:42 PM - bamhm182: I wonder why Barnacules has like three of them and never has his Robo set up
    Jul 29, 2015 3:42 PM - Mike Kelly: ?
Jul 29, 2015 3:42 PM - Mike Kelly: he has ultimakers
Jul 29, 2015 3:42 PM - Mike Kelly: ultimakers own
Jul 29, 2015 3:43 PM - Mike Kelly: also his robo is going home
    Jul 29, 2015 3:43 PM - bamhm182: Oh, right, derp
Jul 29, 2015 3:43 PM - bamhm182: What do you mean going home?
Jul 29, 2015 3:43 PM - Mike Kelly: sounds like he hasn't completely written them off yet, but it's rocky grounds
Jul 29, 2015 3:43 PM - Mike Kelly: back from whence it came
Jul 29, 2015 3:44 PM - Mike Kelly: what spool holders are people using? nothin up top
Jul 29, 2015 3:45 PM - donhuevo: how about a Makerbot open source hot end/extruder upgrade?
Jul 29, 2015 3:45 PM - Mike Kelly: i guess i should have printed mine in ABS, i bet the heat is causing it to warp
Jul 29, 2015 3:46 PM - Mike Kelly: i've thought about going to a chimera on the makerbot
    Jul 29, 2015 3:47 PM - bamhm182: I've got a pegboard spool holder
    Jul 29, 2015 3:47 PM - donhuevo: I'm still using my swingset
Jul 29, 2015 3:48 PM - Mike Kelly: i might just run it over my other robo like i had been
Jul 29, 2015 3:48 PM - Mike Kelly: even though that's super lazy
    Jul 29, 2015 3:49 PM - donhuevo: brb
Jul 29, 2015 3:49 PM - Mike Kelly: but like they say, if it's stupid and it works... it's not stupid
    Jul 29, 2015 3:50 PM - bamhm182: [IMG]
Jul 29, 2015 3:50 PM - bamhm182: You can see my spool holder at the top of that image. There's one holding the spool at the bottom
Jul 29, 2015 3:52 PM - Mike Glass: wow that actual holds a spool?
    Jul 29, 2015 3:53 PM - Mike Glass: I hate pegboard, I use slatboard
Jul 29, 2015 3:54 PM - Mike Glass: Hey jigler
    Jul 29, 2015 3:54 PM - Mike Glass: thats with a silent "b"
    Jul 29, 2015 3:57 PM - TxKent: Hello
Jul 29, 2015 3:57 PM - Mike Glass: Hey Kent
Jul 29, 2015 3:59 PM - TxKent: Everybody staying cool today?
Jul 29, 2015 4:00 PM - bamhm182: Yeah, I modified it a little bit by screwing a washer onto the one on the bottom so it has a little more lip
Jul 29, 2015 4:00 PM - bamhm182: Printed a ton and have only had it fall off once, but I think that that was because the filament got bound up and the carriage was pulling itself up
Jul 29, 2015 4:03 PM - bamhm182: Probably a stupid question, but pegboard vs slatboard, what's the difference?
Jul 29, 2015 4:03 PM - bamhm182: Hey kent. It's been pretty hot today, but been inside, so yup
Jul 29, 2015 4:06 PM - bamhm182: I wonder if the wires are going to be any neater on the new Robos
Jul 29, 2015 4:08 PM - TxKent: I've never seen Barnacules talking bad about the Robo.
Jul 29, 2015 4:08 PM - TxKent: Marquis makes a better spokesman IMO
Jul 29, 2015 4:14 PM - Mike Glass: Bam [IMG]
Jul 29, 2015 4:14 PM - Mike Glass: that is slot board
Jul 29, 2015 4:17 PM - bamhm182: I need to have this thing taken away from me on the grounds of "printer abuse"...
    Jul 29, 2015 4:18 PM - bamhm182: Oh, gotcha
Jul 29, 2015 4:22 PM - TxKent: First time I have seen it in a store was at WoodCraft a few weeks ago.
    Jul 29, 2015 4:32 PM - donhuevo: and back
    Jul 29, 2015 4:33 PM - bamhm182: wb
    Jul 29, 2015 4:33 PM - donhuevo: ty
Jul 29, 2015 4:33 PM - donhuevo: so is it all put back together bam?
    Jul 29, 2015 4:38 PM - bamhm182: Nope.
    Jul 29, 2015 4:39 PM - donhuevo: how's come?
Jul 29, 2015 4:39 PM - bamhm182: Was testing everything one by one. Missed the header slot for the X driver by one, heard a horrible screeching and smelled a burnt chip. Decided to walk away and see if I can also blow up this teensy for a while
    Jul 29, 2015 4:39 PM - bamhm182: Actually, that was the Y
    Jul 29, 2015 4:40 PM - donhuevo: two shcuffs
    Jul 29, 2015 4:41 PM - Mike Glass: Donny!
    Jul 29, 2015 4:42 PM - donhuevo: mg
    Jul 29, 2015 4:42 PM - donhuevo: !
Jul 29, 2015 4:42 PM - Mike Glass: were you productive today?
    Jul 29, 2015 4:42 PM - donhuevo: I think I was. printing a carriage now
Jul 29, 2015 4:43 PM - Mike Glass: aw cool
Jul 29, 2015 4:43 PM - donhuevo: we'll see. I may have to flip it over though. forgot about where my belt attaches
Jul 29, 2015 4:45 PM - Mike Glass: awe, Im on my 8th piece of the chair, about to start my 9th here in a few, I had one fail today I think I had a imperfection in the filament and it stop extruding.
Jul 29, 2015 4:45 PM - Mike Glass: and my hob is kinda dirty
    Jul 29, 2015 4:45 PM - donhuevo: still... progress
Jul 29, 2015 4:46 PM - donhuevo: dirty hob... figured
Jul 29, 2015 4:46 PM - Mike Glass: yea almost two rows done, hopefully by tomorrow.
Jul 29, 2015 4:48 PM - Mike Glass: I should of just used different colors instead of two but might make a pattern in the middle with some more translucents, I want to light the sucker up with those lights you showed me your using.
Jul 29, 2015 4:49 PM - donhuevo: for a single project like that, the gemma or trinket might be the way to go. then either rechargeable batteries or a 5v power supply
Jul 29, 2015 4:50 PM - Mike Glass: I have a bunch of lithium ion 7.2 volt batteries I was thinking about using, I mean a bunch of them.
    Jul 29, 2015 4:50 PM - donhuevo: they'll run on that
Jul 29, 2015 4:51 PM - Mike Glass: although at 22% infill it may not work as I thought as the infill is horizontal not vertical..hmm
    Jul 29, 2015 4:51 PM - donhuevo: I had two led's going on a 3.7V Li ion
Jul 29, 2015 4:52 PM - Mike Glass: I have a failed piece I can at least drill out and see

Jul 29, 2015 4:52 PM - donhuevo: have you looked at all the different options you have with those neopixels?
Jul 29, 2015 4:53 PM - Mike Glass: that or use the clear for some spots and not the black smoke
Jul 29, 2015 4:53 PM - Mike Glass: yea there is alot to choose from.
Jul 29, 2015 4:53 PM - Shadow_bullet: on auto level. the bed seems to attemt to go too far back and it grinds the belt. how can i change this?
Jul 29, 2015 4:54 PM - Mike Glass: how big of object are you trying to print?
Jul 29, 2015 4:54 PM - donhuevo: you might check to see if something (like wires) are getting in front of the switch under the bed
Jul 29, 2015 4:54 PM - Mike Glass: I always have to move it one inch forward as the firmware is messed up.
Jul 29, 2015 4:54 PM - Shadow_bullet: im attempting to print a Y axis bracket so not big
Jul 29, 2015 4:55 PM - Shadow_bullet: it attempts to move too far on the other side, where there is no switch
Jul 29, 2015 4:55 PM - Mike Glass: you dont have the size configured correct then in the software
    Jul 29, 2015 4:56 PM - Mike Glass: X-228, Y-256, Z-228
Jul 29, 2015 4:58 PM - Mike Glass: that is not a negative number, just a seperator
Jul 29, 2015 4:59 PM - Shadow_bullet: yup, but i cant find where to change it. i saw it once but when you need to find something .... ill copy those down and see if i cant locate where to change that. thanks!
Jul 29, 2015 5:00 PM - Mike Glass: what software are you using?
Jul 29, 2015 5:00 PM - Shadow_bullet: the one that comes with it, matter control
Jul 29, 2015 5:00 PM - Mike Glass:  Gads, you might want to think about using cura at some point.
    Jul 29, 2015 5:01 PM - Shadow_bullet: haha, will do
Jul 29, 2015 5:01 PM - donhuevo: or even repetier with the cura engine
Jul 29, 2015 5:01 PM - Mike Glass: or if you want the best for the money Simplify3d is awesome, repetier is great too, but really advanced.
Jul 29, 2015 5:02 PM - Mike Glass: I use them all, each one has it place, except for MC that doesnt even have a temp graph. STUPID
    Jul 29, 2015 5:02 PM - donhuevo: MfnC
    Jul 29, 2015 5:02 PM - donhuevo: well-earned
Jul 29, 2015 5:03 PM - Mike Glass: that that Fn Right
Jul 29, 2015 5:03 PM - Mike Glass: So simple and the blow it but not putting that in there.
Jul 29, 2015 5:03 PM - Shadow_bullet: thanks guys! ill get cura downloaded and try that out :)
Jul 29, 2015 5:04 PM - bamhm182: Well, made some LEDs flash in sequence, going to go see if I can continue blowing up my printer
Jul 29, 2015 5:04 PM - Mike Glass: I liked the old MC better then the newer one.
Jul 29, 2015 5:04 PM - Mike Glass: YW Shadow
Jul 29, 2015 5:04 PM - Mike Kelly: ditto the new is annoying
Jul 29, 2015 5:04 PM - Mike Glass: WB Mikey
Jul 29, 2015 5:05 PM - donhuevo: what are you bitching about Roxie?
Jul 29, 2015 5:06 PM - Mike Glass: im praying to the printing gods that this print finishes, almost 4 hours into it now.
Jul 29, 2015 5:07 PM - donhuevo: hmmm.... might require some sort of sacrifice too
    Jul 29, 2015 5:07 PM - donhuevo: and a ceremonial dance
    Jul 29, 2015 5:09 PM - Mike Glass: I have 3 kids.hhmmm
    Jul 29, 2015 5:09 PM - donhuevo: aren't you only supposed to have 1.5
Jul 29, 2015 5:09 PM - Mike Glass: with my wages, yes
Jul 29, 2015 5:10 PM - Mike Glass: my boy is a .5, he is small the 4 year old is almost as big..lol
    Jul 29, 2015 5:11 PM - Mike Kelly: ouchlol
Jul 29, 2015 5:11 PM - Mike Glass: just like his dad, I didnt stop growning till I was 25
Jul 29, 2015 5:12 PM - Mike Glass: was always the shortest kid
    Jul 29, 2015 5:12 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah i was short until i was 17
    Jul 29, 2015 5:13 PM - Mike Glass: I was short now im wide..lol
    Jul 29, 2015 5:14 PM - donhuevo: I'm still waiting on a growth spurt
Jul 29, 2015 5:14 PM - donhuevo: I'm starting to think its not coming
Jul 29, 2015 5:14 PM - Mike Glass: Hmm I think your past your prime right?
Jul 29, 2015 5:15 PM - donhuevo: I'd have to say yes to that
Jul 29, 2015 5:17 PM - Mike Kelly: the opposite will start happening
    Jul 29, 2015 5:18 PM - donhuevo: I'm sure it already has
Jul 29, 2015 5:18 PM - Mike Glass: My printer has swimmers [IMG] LOL
    Jul 29, 2015 5:18 PM - Mike Kelly: lol
Jul 29, 2015 5:19 PM - donhuevo: check the neighborhood for other printers making really loud noises
    Jul 29, 2015 5:19 PM - Mike Glass: couldn't resist
Jul 29, 2015 5:20 PM - donhuevo: if you aren't careful, you could end up with a bunch of Tikos running around
Jul 29, 2015 5:20 PM - Mike Glass: the closest one is in Butte
Jul 29, 2015 5:24 PM - Mike Glass: I've been listening to SRV all day..lol
Jul 29, 2015 5:24 PM - donhuevo: nothing wrong with that
Jul 29, 2015 5:25 PM - Mike Glass: never really did before, now im learning to play on the guitar
Jul 29, 2015 5:25 PM - Mike Glass: The god have spoken, they have granted me a completed piece@ 4:09 woot
    Jul 29, 2015 5:26 PM - donhuevo: amen
Jul 29, 2015 5:28 PM - Mike Glass: z lift sucks by the way it gives it pimples everywhere..ugg
    Jul 29, 2015 5:28 PM - donhuevo: not saying a word
Jul 29, 2015 5:29 PM - Mike Glass: no I have to reslice all these pieced I just did..lol
Jul 29, 2015 5:41 PM - Mike Glass: ok din din time
Jul 29, 2015 5:57 PM - Shadow_bullet: ooooooooooooh, almost got it, anyone know off the top of thier head how to back off the Z "home" right now its a smidge too close..
    Jul 29, 2015 5:58 PM - Shadow_bullet: for the cura software?
    Jul 29, 2015 5:59 PM - Shadow_bullet: got it
    Jul 29, 2015 5:59 PM - Shadow_bullet: :)
Jul 29, 2015 5:59 PM - donhuevo: congrats! I was just tracking down the gcode for you
    Jul 29, 2015 6:00 PM - Shadow_bullet: "M565 Z-1.0 ;Define a 1.0mm offset, this may need adjusting G29 " is what i have, it i go higher is should lift it away?
Jul 29, 2015 6:01 PM - donhuevo: maybe? I don't use that particular code to do it
Jul 29, 2015 6:02 PM - donhuevo: play with it and see. maybe work in tenths though
Jul 29, 2015 6:05 PM - TxKent: Did you see the instructions for Cura posted in the past few days: http://community.robo3d.com/index.php?threads/cura-15-06-15-06-02-for-robo-3d-r1.6339/
Jul 29, 2015 6:08 PM - Shadow_bullet: i was looking at the one by mike kelly, i will look at that one too thanks~
Jul 29, 2015 6:09 PM - bamhm182: Looks like my printer is fine. Going to need more drivers though...
Jul 29, 2015 6:09 PM - Mike Kelly: is it worth upgrading to 15.06 yet?
Jul 29, 2015 6:10 PM - bamhm182: Waiting for it to heat up so I can test the extruder, but I took a driver that I knew for 100% sure works and tested it on X/Y/Z and they all work as they should
Jul 29, 2015 6:10 PM - TxKent: I haven't done the upgrade yet. Too happy I'm printing - I'm using MC right now.
    Jul 29, 2015 6:11 PM - TxKent: brb
Jul 29, 2015 6:11 PM - Mike Kelly: 15.04 seems easier to use imo
Jul 29, 2015 6:11 PM - bamhm182: Got plenty of 1/16 drivers that still work. I just killed a couple of my 1/32 drivers
    Jul 29, 2015 6:12 PM - Mike Kelly: lame
Jul 29, 2015 6:12 PM - bamhm182: On the plus side, I've been learning a lot about what NOT to do *facepalm*
Jul 29, 2015 6:13 PM - Mike Kelly: someone who's never made a mistake is someone who's never tried anything new :)
    Jul 29, 2015 6:13 PM - bamhm182: True
Jul 29, 2015 6:14 PM - bamhm182: Alright, so the E works. Now to test my various drivers and throw away the ones that I've confirmed as broken so they stop getting mixed in
Jul 29, 2015 6:16 PM - bamhm182: Also took a silver sharpie and drew along the sides of the female headers for the Y axis. FAR too easy to get those off by a pin if you don't have any steppers in
    Jul 29, 2015 6:30 PM - jbigler1986: How do you break them?
    Jul 29, 2015 6:30 PM - jbigler1986: Shorting them?
Jul 29, 2015 6:32 PM - bamhm182: That's probably what did most of them in
Jul 29, 2015 6:33 PM - bamhm182: One the pot quit spinning on
Jul 29, 2015 6:33 PM - bamhm182: I definitely shorted two of them, not really sure what happened to the other one
    Jul 29, 2015 6:33 PM - bamhm182: Have one of five left
Jul 29, 2015 6:37 PM - PeterkSharma: Anyone know much about hot ends? Just did the e3d v6 swap and my lcd is saying max temp error. Is this caused by a bad thermistor?
Jul 29, 2015 6:39 PM - bamhm182: Seems like it could be, although most therm issues I've seen cause min temp to be thrown rather than max temp
Jul 29, 2015 6:39 PM - Mike Kelly: max temp is a short
    Jul 29, 2015 6:39 PM - bamhm182: ah
Jul 29, 2015 6:39 PM - PeterkSharma: Did I fry the terminator if I shorted it?
Jul 29, 2015 6:40 PM - PeterkSharma: Haha phone corrected that. Thermistor
Jul 29, 2015 6:40 PM - Mike Kelly: pretty sure you were right the first time

Jul 29, 2015 6:41 PM - PeterkSharma: Lol, it will be with a bit of ai. Will any thermistor replacement work? Or do I need a specific one?
Jul 29, 2015 6:42 PM - Mike Kelly: na it's fine to short just changes the reading
Jul 29, 2015 6:42 PM - Mike Kelly: look for the thermistor leads touching metal and/or each other
Jul 29, 2015 6:44 PM - PeterkSharma: Yeah I see it, there is a bad crimp in the lead so I can't move the sleeve. Going to have to disassemble.
Jul 29, 2015 6:45 PM - PeterkSharma: Anyone here switched a Themistor for s thermocouple?
Jul 29, 2015 6:45 PM - Mike Kelly: mark has
Jul 29, 2015 6:47 PM - Shadow_bullet: would a loose belt make the Z axis loose and therefore make the print not go straight up?
Jul 29, 2015 6:48 PM - Mike Kelly: home your Z axis then raise it up a mm or so above the bed
Jul 29, 2015 6:48 PM - Mike Kelly: then disable the steppers and manually slide the carriage back and forth
Jul 29, 2015 6:48 PM - Mike Kelly: does the nozzle stay parallel to the bed or is it uneven
Jul 29, 2015 6:48 PM - Mike Kelly: adjust the Z rods until it's levelish
Jul 29, 2015 6:49 PM - Mike Kelly: absolute precision isn't necessary here
Jul 29, 2015 6:50 PM - daniel871: Ugh, mintemp error on the hotend thermistors.
Jul 29, 2015 6:51 PM - daniel871: Now I have to go through the process of trying to figure out which one if not both is bad.
Jul 29, 2015 6:52 PM - daniel871: Can the reprapdiscount lcd handle multiple hotends? Or do I have to have the full graphics one?
Jul 29, 2015 6:52 PM - bamhm182: Open the firmware and disable one of the mintemps
Jul 29, 2015 6:53 PM - PeterkSharma: How bad is it to run a print with no cooling fan on the part?
Jul 29, 2015 6:53 PM - daniel871: It shows zero for the current temp, but only one hotend readout shows. Bed temp readout is still there and correct.
Jul 29, 2015 6:54 PM - daniel871: If you are doing abs or pet tge oart fan is usually off anyway.
    Jul 29, 2015 6:54 PM - daniel871: Part
    Jul 29, 2015 6:54 PM - daniel871: Knew I should have ordered stud thermistors.
    Jul 29, 2015 6:55 PM - Mike Kelly: heh
Jul 29, 2015 6:57 PM - daniel871: Oh well, hard part of assembly is done anyway. Just need to get stud thermistors and verify esteps for each geared stepper.
Jul 29, 2015 6:58 PM - daniel871: New wrinkle in that tge one geared stepper has an fn 8mm shaft on it while the other is 6mm. Fucking hell can't catch a break.
Jul 29, 2015 7:00 PM - bamhm182: @PeterkSharma, it won't make a huge impact. Will parts potentially turn out a bit better, possibly. Will your parts fail just because there's no parts fan? Highly unlikely
Jul 29, 2015 7:06 PM - jbigler1986: It usually just mean you have the screw for the thermistor to tight and its shorting it. Loosen it a little and move the wire a tiny bit. Should be fine after that. Dont retighten it
Jul 29, 2015 7:08 PM - jbigler1986: Happened to me aftet installing my 2nd v6. I loosed the screw a little and it was fine
Jul 29, 2015 7:15 PM - Shadow_bullet: well, i did it.. modeled a new Y axis bracket, and got it to print... :) this thing is awesome. still have the issue with the bed attempting to move farther then it should even with the dimensions you gave me
    Jul 29, 2015 7:20 PM - bamhm182: http://www.amazon.com/SainSmart-Mai...UTF8&qid=1438222777&sr=1-2&keywords=ramps+1.4
Jul 29, 2015 7:20 PM - bamhm182: I really like that design, too bad there's no support for it, but I guess if you can figure it out, it would be nice
Jul 29, 2015 7:22 PM - Mike Glass: And Im back, what did I miss?
    Jul 29, 2015 7:25 PM - bamhm182: Not much, wb
Jul 29, 2015 7:25 PM - Mike Glass: had to mow the lawn
Jul 29, 2015 7:26 PM - Mike Glass: that is a nice board, did it just come out?
Jul 29, 2015 7:26 PM - Mike Kelly: if don's still arround do you have a picture of your spool holder handy
    Jul 29, 2015 7:27 PM - Mike Glass: if Don't?
    Jul 29, 2015 7:27 PM - bamhm182: It became available on November 20, 2014 on Amazon
    Jul 29, 2015 7:27 PM - bamhm182: I'm guessing he meant Don's
Jul 29, 2015 7:27 PM - Mike Glass: haha guess I havent seen it ,,
Jul 29, 2015 7:27 PM - Mike Glass: Mike must be in the coolaid again
    Jul 29, 2015 7:28 PM - bamhm182: Darn you, Apple!
Jul 29, 2015 7:28 PM - bamhm182: I'm trying to hook my printer up to this Mac Mini I'm using for a garage computer, and it REFUSES to acknowledge its existence...
    Jul 29, 2015 7:29 PM - bamhm182: It'll power it, but it's like "Arduino 2560? Never heard of it"
Jul 29, 2015 7:29 PM - Mike Glass: that is just crazy talk
    Jul 29, 2015 7:29 PM - bamhm182: Going to try a reboot
Jul 29, 2015 7:34 PM - bamhm182: Still nothing... Wonder if it will see Teensy
Jul 29, 2015 7:36 PM - bamhm182: Yup, sees Teensy just fine... Freaking mac...
Jul 29, 2015 7:54 PM - bamhm182: Gave up and tried to connect it to my PC, nothing there either. Thinking that NOW I must have fried my arduino....
    Jul 29, 2015 7:54 PM - bamhm182: Or at least the serial
Jul 29, 2015 7:55 PM - Shadow_bullet: dang... so in CURA i have the size set to W=228 / D=254 / H=228 and when the bed moves back ( other direction from the switch) it attempts to still go for a smidge... still.. this thing is stuborn.. alteast it doesnt affect the prints from what i can tell... any one know how to fix this?
Jul 29, 2015 7:56 PM - bamhm182: On the plus side, my firmware is correctly configured for 1/32 stepper drivers, so I guess I'll just have to wait until my new stepper drivers get in and try not to blow those up...
Jul 29, 2015 7:57 PM - Mike Glass: what is your startup code
Jul 29, 2015 7:57 PM - bamhm182: So the bed is moving towards you?
    Jul 29, 2015 7:58 PM - Shadow_bullet: start up: G28 G92 E0 ; M565 Z-1 ; G1 Z5 F5000 ; G29 ;
Jul 29, 2015 7:59 PM - Shadow_bullet: well... i double checked. its going away from me, so the switch should stop it.
Jul 29, 2015 8:00 PM - Shadow_bullet: cause the direction its going it should hit the switch, i dont see anything in the way
Jul 29, 2015 8:00 PM - Mike Glass: DId you look at the cura startup guide
Jul 29, 2015 8:01 PM - Shadow_bullet: yup :) i looked at the one by mike glass for cura 15.04
Jul 29, 2015 8:01 PM - Shadow_bullet: perhaps the switch is bad... ill have to test that
Jul 29, 2015 8:02 PM - Mike Glass: yea it should stop when going back but to front it will not if something is out of wack
Jul 29, 2015 8:03 PM - Mike Glass: May of got unplugged from the ramps board.
Jul 29, 2015 8:05 PM - bamhm182: Either that or plugged into the wrong spot. You'll see a small letter Y next to the one that it needs to be plugged into
    Jul 29, 2015 8:05 PM - Shadow_bullet: cool, ill check that
Jul 29, 2015 8:06 PM - Bigc: Good evening I have found that the difference between 80c and 100c is huge with abs now if i can just get print the stop waving
Jul 29, 2015 8:10 PM - Bigc: Hey mike have you done the 8 mm upgrade and if so has that helped with the prints
    Jul 29, 2015 8:10 PM - Mike Glass: 8mm?
Jul 29, 2015 8:11 PM - Bigc: The threaded Rods
Jul 29, 2015 8:12 PM - Mike Glass: The lead screws are the best upgrade for the money.
Jul 29, 2015 8:12 PM - Bigc: How difficult is it to do
Jul 29, 2015 8:13 PM - Mike Glass: Last Friday I installed them, perform awesome, running 80mm/s without issues
Jul 29, 2015 8:13 PM - Mike Glass: Simple 4 screws per stepper and swap.
Jul 29, 2015 8:14 PM - Mike Glass: They will have more in stock in a couple weeks.
Jul 29, 2015 8:14 PM - Bigc: Did you buy them from robo
Jul 29, 2015 8:15 PM - Mike Glass: Yep they have them on the site now
Jul 29, 2015 8:17 PM - bamhm182: You'll also need to flash the firmware with the new steps (800)
Jul 29, 2015 8:17 PM - Mike Glass: Yea just a simple change
Jul 29, 2015 8:18 PM - bamhm182: Also, keep in mind that a handful of us had bent rods, don't know if they've fixed that issue or not, but seeing as they know about it, I'd be surprised if they didn't check them before sending them out now
Jul 29, 2015 8:18 PM - Mike Glass: You should of already flashed your robo anyways
Jul 29, 2015 8:18 PM - Bigc: And that i am guessing that will help with the waving in the z Axies i
Jul 29, 2015 8:19 PM - Mike Glass: Yes ben informed that has been taken care of
Jul 29, 2015 8:20 PM - Bigc: I flashed it last night after i got my head out of my anyway and remembered to the RTFM
Jul 29, 2015 8:20 PM - Mike Glass: Yeah ribbing is an issue with the helical couplers.
Jul 29, 2015 8:21 PM - Mike Glass: Most of them are coming from the factory with wrong firmware
Jul 29, 2015 8:22 PM - Bigc: Are there other solutions That will help with the ribbing or should the new rods take care of it
Jul 29, 2015 8:23 PM - Mike Glass: There are a few tricks that do work but unreliable
Jul 29, 2015 8:24 PM - Bigc: Ok When they come back in stock i will order them How much do they run
    Jul 29, 2015 8:25 PM - Mike Glass: $100
Jul 29, 2015 8:25 PM - Bigc: If they fix the ribbing it is worth it to me
Jul 29, 2015 8:26 PM - Mike Glass: Yep Im loving mine, been non stop printing since
Jul 29, 2015 8:27 PM - Mike Glass: Im printing a puzzle chair
Jul 29, 2015 8:27 PM - donhuevo: they fix the ribbing, the noise
Jul 29, 2015 8:28 PM - Mike Glass: The noise, dont get me started.
Jul 29, 2015 8:28 PM - bamhm182: I think I managed to print a calibration pyramid since I installed mine. Then I broke my printer pretty good. Ugh...
Jul 29, 2015 8:28 PM - Mike Glass: I print in zen now
Jul 29, 2015 8:29 PM - Bigc: I Am watching the stock one move back and fourth as they roatate
Jul 29, 2015 8:29 PM - donhuevo: see bam, his printer is saying hello too
Jul 29, 2015 8:30 PM - Bigc: Hey don long time no chat
Jul 29, 2015 8:30 PM - Mike Glass: I replaced my originals with all thrrad from lowes at first, that helped
    Jul 29, 2015 8:30 PM - donhuevo: its been a little while
Jul 29, 2015 8:31 PM - bamhm182: No, it was saying hello, but now it refuses to talk to anybody...

Jul 29, 2015 8:32 PM - donhuevo: first you break the edit button, now your printer... you're dangerous
Jul 29, 2015 8:34 PM - bamhm182: Yup, I need to have everything taken away from me, I've proven that I can't handle toys
Jul 29, 2015 8:34 PM - bamhm182: Printer works, it just only works with 1/32 step drivers now, and I've only got 1 of those left...
    Jul 29, 2015 8:36 PM - donhuevo: damnit
Jul 29, 2015 8:38 PM - bamhm182: Only option I can see to get it to work with 1/16 stepper drivers is to use my LCD to manually change the steps from 160/160/1600 to 80/80/800, but it adjusts in increments of 0.01, so it is painfully slow
Jul 29, 2015 8:39 PM - donhuevo: you know about the jumpers and the 1/16 microstepping, right?
Jul 29, 2015 8:41 PM - bamhm182: Nope. The ones under the drivers?
    Jul 29, 2015 8:42 PM - bamhm182: So the wiki says that if 1, 2, and 3 are installed
    Jul 29, 2015 8:42 PM - bamhm182: that it will be 1/16
Jul 29, 2015 8:42 PM - bamhm182: So I'm thinking that if the firmware has 1/32 set up, that removing the third jumper, making it 1/8 will actually make it 1/16...
    Jul 29, 2015 8:43 PM - bamhm182: http://www.reprap.org/wiki/RAMPS_1.4#Stepper_Driver_Boards
    Jul 29, 2015 8:43 PM - bamhm182: What do you think?
Jul 29, 2015 8:43 PM - donhuevo: yep. that's where I learned about the jumpers but I can't speak to the 1/32 driver and how it plays with the jumpers
Jul 29, 2015 8:44 PM - bamhm182: Well, only one way to find out
Jul 29, 2015 8:44 PM - Mike Glass: you put all the jumpers on to do 1/32
Jul 29, 2015 8:44 PM - bamhm182: I've never touched the jumpers and it was originally at 1/16
Jul 29, 2015 8:44 PM - donhuevo: so all three are installed
Jul 29, 2015 8:45 PM - Mike Glass: Yep all three jumpers I believe
Jul 29, 2015 8:45 PM - donhuevo: the last thing I want you to do is to get back in there and start pulling drivers off the board again.
Jul 29, 2015 8:54 PM - Mike Glass: so just verified you have to have all three jumpers installed for 1/32
    Jul 29, 2015 8:58 PM - bamhm182: lol, too late
