Aug 31, 2015 1:09 PM - jbigler1986: to go over the stepper shaft?
Aug 31, 2015 1:09 PM - Mike Glass: read the first line
Aug 31, 2015 1:09 PM - Mike Glass: Need spacers for your #saintflint extruder
Aug 31, 2015 1:09 PM - Mike Kelly: the metal tube?
Aug 31, 2015 1:10 PM - Mike Glass: Cool, I will go find some tonight.
Aug 31, 2015 1:10 PM - Aaron Mitchell: I know JB, but this is my school budget and I can't afford an extra $100 to upgrade each one...
    Aug 31, 2015 1:10 PM - Mike Kelly: $500 for refurb + 100 for lead screws = $600
Aug 31, 2015 1:11 PM - Mike Glass: 1/4 inch break line slips over the shaft, they you put your flint in the middle of two pieces.
    Aug 31, 2015 1:11 PM - Mike Kelly: isn't that just a 1/4" tube
Aug 31, 2015 1:11 PM - Mike Kelly: i guess i thought you meant PTFE
Aug 31, 2015 1:11 PM - jbigler1986: seems like it will slip on the shaft
Aug 31, 2015 1:12 PM - Mike Glass: not sure about the ID of it
    Aug 31, 2015 1:13 PM - Mike Kelly: http://www.tickld.com/x/jaw/man-sho...cebook&utm_campaign=kitchen&ts_pid=2&ts_pid=2
Aug 31, 2015 1:14 PM - Mike Kelly: just sent that to my wife
Aug 31, 2015 1:14 PM - Mike Kelly: she's like the worst passenger
Aug 31, 2015 1:15 PM - jbigler1986: and then he is sleeping on the couch for a few days
    Aug 31, 2015 1:15 PM - Mike Kelly: haha
Aug 31, 2015 1:16 PM - daniel871: Are the refurbs any more reliable than the retail?
    Aug 31, 2015 1:17 PM - daniel871: In terms of QC?
Aug 31, 2015 1:18 PM - jbigler1986: idk honestly. Harry made it sound like they don't have all of the parts there
Aug 31, 2015 1:18 PM - jbigler1986: I was trying to get him and Braydon to sell me a kit so I could build it myself
Aug 31, 2015 1:19 PM - Mike Kelly: refurbs can be brand new printers with cosmetic scratches that make them not sellable
Aug 31, 2015 1:19 PM - Mike Kelly: to returns
Aug 31, 2015 1:19 PM - Mike Kelly: they come with a 6 mo warranty though
    Aug 31, 2015 1:20 PM - daniel871: For what little that's worth.
Aug 31, 2015 1:21 PM - Mike Kelly: eh as long as you get a non-defective glass it's pretty good
Aug 31, 2015 1:21 PM - daniel871: I got mine in April and the only part I got replaced under warranty was the extruder stepper for the Wade, everything else I had to pay for or get parts elsewhere.
Aug 31, 2015 1:21 PM - Mike Kelly: what else was broken
Aug 31, 2015 1:22 PM - jbigler1986: i got mine in February and I have replaced pretty much everything except the board
Aug 31, 2015 1:23 PM - jbigler1986: hotend was the only thing that was totally needed to be replaced
Aug 31, 2015 1:23 PM - jbigler1986: if i didn't mind ribbing it wouldn't have had to change anything else
Aug 31, 2015 1:23 PM - daniel871: The SD card reader (made obsolete by the LCD later), the parts fan, hexagon fan, hexagon thermistor (finally said fuck it here and got the v6), the clip *and* the belt for the Y-axis, the retaining clips on the X-axis belt, all of the LM8UU bearings.
    Aug 31, 2015 1:24 PM - daniel871: What else...
Aug 31, 2015 1:24 PM - Mike Kelly: good lord
Aug 31, 2015 1:24 PM - daniel871: Oh, extruder stepper driver for E1 on the board. The heated bed had a short in it shortly after the glass started cracking.
Aug 31, 2015 1:25 PM - daniel871: About halfway down the ribbon cable there was a melted bit between two of the wires.
Aug 31, 2015 1:25 PM - daniel871: Now I've got "Linear" steppers that are bent or warped or something.
    Aug 31, 2015 1:26 PM - daniel871: From Robo.
Aug 31, 2015 1:26 PM - Mike Kelly: you should have returned them
Aug 31, 2015 1:26 PM - daniel871: And neither the X or Y can print consistent layers on top of each other.
    Aug 31, 2015 1:26 PM - daniel871: And paid shipping both ways?
    Aug 31, 2015 1:27 PM - Mike Kelly: yes
Aug 31, 2015 1:27 PM - Mike Kelly: they should send you a return label
Aug 31, 2015 1:27 PM - daniel871: It's just another hassle after a fairly long list of things going wrong or starting off flimsy as hell though.
Aug 31, 2015 1:29 PM - daniel871: The very brief period I had where everything worked on the dual bowden setup before things started walking around randomly has me thinking something is going wrong in the controller end of things, but if I have to gut it and put all new electronics in I'm either getting a kit from Amazon or just going with my earlier plan.
Aug 31, 2015 1:30 PM - daniel871: (short dual color targets and cubes in different materials/colors)
Aug 31, 2015 1:33 PM - daniel871: If I could put it back in the stock configuration and send everything back I'd do it, but I bought it thru Amazon and have fiddled with replacing electronic bits on it, so that path is shut.
Aug 31, 2015 1:34 PM - Mike Glass: Mine is stock and it works just fine. Oh I did put in the new wobble screws, my prints are perfect.
Aug 31, 2015 1:35 PM - daniel871: Not saying all Robos are terrible, just mine.
Aug 31, 2015 1:37 PM - Mike Glass: maybe tinkered too much with it.
Aug 31, 2015 1:37 PM - Bill Monroe: naw.. it's needs MORE tinkering
Aug 31, 2015 1:37 PM - Bill Monroe: ask jb
    Aug 31, 2015 1:37 PM - jbigler1986: ^
Aug 31, 2015 1:37 PM - daniel871: Only really got into tinkering with it when I went for the dual bowden setup.
    Aug 31, 2015 1:37 PM - Bill Monroe: :)
Aug 31, 2015 1:38 PM - Bill Monroe: I'd make improvements to mine.. if it were possible
Aug 31, 2015 1:38 PM - jbigler1986: mine prints great. I have molested the hell out of it too
Aug 31, 2015 1:38 PM - jbigler1986: printed* not sure that i can say currently yet
Aug 31, 2015 1:38 PM - Bill Monroe: jbigler the moleter
Aug 31, 2015 1:38 PM - Bill Monroe: err molester
Aug 31, 2015 1:39 PM - Mike Kelly: my R1.7 is basically stock and it's my favorite printer right now
Aug 31, 2015 1:39 PM - jbigler1986: well anything is better than the makernot
    Aug 31, 2015 1:40 PM - Mike Kelly: hah
Aug 31, 2015 1:41 PM - Mike Kelly: my Mk R1 would be best if i spent some time sorting out the oozing
    Aug 31, 2015 1:42 PM - Mike Kelly: https://plus.google.com/u/1/photos/+AnthonyMorris/albums/6189273233503326977?cfem=1 pretty
Aug 31, 2015 1:43 PM - daniel871: Christ, guess it's been too long since someone got fired. They just came in and let the guy in the cubicle across from me go due to "budget cuts".
Aug 31, 2015 1:44 PM - daniel871: Which is bullshit. We had one slow month in one product line and they're firing people in all departments.
    Aug 31, 2015 1:44 PM - daniel871: Great idea.
    Aug 31, 2015 1:46 PM - Mike Kelly: http://www.tickld.com/x/jaw/woman-f...cebook&utm_campaign=notedog&ts_pid=2&ts_pid=2

Aug 31, 2015 2:21 PM - Mike Kelly: is there such a thing as translucent white, or would that just be clear

    Aug 31, 2015 2:26 PM - Mike Kelly: i'd suggest 5 gallon batches
Aug 31, 2015 2:26 PM - Mike Kelly: and if you go that get at least an 8 gallon brew pot
Aug 31, 2015 2:26 PM - jbigler1986: well my parents do a lot of business with local breweries so they know a lot of brewmasters
    Aug 31, 2015 2:27 PM - jbigler1986: it's my step dads idea really

Aug 31, 2015 2:51 PM - Mike Glass: lowes probably your best bet
Aug 31, 2015 2:52 PM - daniel871: Why are you trying to keep the dog from eating?

Aug 31, 2015 3:16 PM - Bigc: So i keep getting a m999 error the extruder turned of due to a temp drop and i have all ready tryed changing out the thermistor and its wire and that did not help any ideas
Aug 31, 2015 3:17 PM - Mike Glass: what temp?
    Aug 31, 2015 3:17 PM - Bigc: 230C
Aug 31, 2015 3:18 PM - Mike Glass: sure its not shorting somewhere
Aug 31, 2015 3:19 PM - Mike Kelly: i was getting temp drop from a loose connection
    Aug 31, 2015 3:19 PM - Bigc: i am Positive
    Aug 31, 2015 3:20 PM - Mike Kelly: it's an electrical issue 100%
Aug 31, 2015 3:20 PM - Mike Kelly: mike what's that tool good for? making bowls?
Aug 31, 2015 3:20 PM - Mike Glass: connector pin?
Aug 31, 2015 3:20 PM - Mike Kelly: looks dangerous AF
    Aug 31, 2015 3:21 PM - Mike Glass: https://www.facebook.com/ArbortechTools they have a line of them i guess
Aug 31, 2015 3:21 PM - Bigc: Now the weird thing is it is every other print that fails like clock work
Aug 31, 2015 3:21 PM - Mike Kelly: Electrical issues are weird and hard to diagnose
Aug 31, 2015 3:22 PM - Mike Kelly: took me like a week to find where my pin was loose
Aug 31, 2015 3:22 PM - Mike Kelly: but yeah man, it's absolutely an electrical issue
Aug 31, 2015 3:23 PM - Mike Glass: I want one of these also.
Aug 31, 2015 3:24 PM - Bigc: So do you think it is in the board or the thermistor
Aug 31, 2015 3:25 PM - Mike Glass: put a meter on it and wiggle all the wires see what happens.
Aug 31, 2015 3:26 PM - Mike Glass: mine was having issues right at the heatblock, kept shorting out.
Aug 31, 2015 3:28 PM - Bigc: I will take a look and see what i can find
    Aug 31, 2015 3:29 PM - Mike Glass: time to head home..woot
Aug 31, 2015 3:30 PM - Mike Kelly: are you gonna make wood sculptures mike
    Aug 31, 2015 3:51 PM - Mike Kelly: http://imgur.com/gallery/zkPeq these are fun
Aug 31, 2015 4:13 PM - Mike Kelly: also cool
    Aug 31, 2015 4:31 PM - jbigler1986: Bill
Aug 31, 2015 4:37 PM - jbigler1986: MK what gcode do i need to not use the autolevel
    Aug 31, 2015 4:37 PM - jbigler1986: G1 Z0.08 G92 Z0?
Aug 31, 2015 4:42 PM - Bigc: So I went back with a multi meter to see if it is shorting out from what I could tell there is no short so i restrung the took the boot off of the extruder and zip tied the thermistor wire to the heater core wire to see if it does anything as far as trips the M999
Aug 31, 2015 4:44 PM - Mike Kelly: that's a good way to do it yes
Aug 31, 2015 4:44 PM - Mike Kelly: you just don't include G29 to not use autolevel
Aug 31, 2015 4:44 PM - Mike Kelly: i didn't say a short, i said you had an open circuit
    Aug 31, 2015 4:45 PM - Mike Kelly: or a loose connection
Aug 31, 2015 4:46 PM - Bigc: All I need is for this Hexagon to last a could more prints so the parts to mount the E3d
    Aug 31, 2015 4:54 PM - jbigler1986: eah i commented out g29 and m565
Aug 31, 2015 4:57 PM - jbigler1986: alright time to figure out the z offset

Aug 31, 2015 5:04 PM - jbigler1986: no temp errors or anything. they must have actually been careful with it
    Aug 31, 2015 5:04 PM - jbigler1986: yeah
    Aug 31, 2015 5:06 PM - Mike Glass: Trammmmmmmm
Aug 31, 2015 5:08 PM - jbigler1986: MK do you have the link to those little clips for the bowden clip
    Aug 31, 2015 5:09 PM - jbigler1986: that walter made
Aug 31, 2015 5:09 PM - Mike Kelly: the one walter made?

Aug 31, 2015 5:14 PM - jbigler1986: keep the bowden from grinding on the drive gear
Aug 31, 2015 5:21 PM - Mike Kelly: ok after much modeling it lookes like a 3'x3' base for a 2'x2' cutting area
    Aug 31, 2015 5:22 PM - Mike Kelly: with a slight margin
    Aug 31, 2015 5:26 PM - Mike Kelly: looks like a 10" Z axis gives 4" travel
Aug 31, 2015 5:32 PM - Bigc: Mike when you went to Using a bowden tube did You print the part that holds the Stepper and pushes the filament through
Aug 31, 2015 5:33 PM - Mike Kelly: the extruder?
    Aug 31, 2015 5:33 PM - Bigc: http://www.ebay.com/itm/3Dprinter-M...abd15ec&pid=100033&rk=2&rkt=4&sd=381373604642
Aug 31, 2015 5:34 PM - nonmindo: hey guys...alas PAX is over for me and I'm back at work.....I did get my live stream setup, its a quick hack job, but it works
    Aug 31, 2015 5:34 PM - nonmindo:
Aug 31, 2015 5:35 PM - Mike Kelly: meet jerry berg?
Aug 31, 2015 5:35 PM - nonmindo: yea he attacked me from behind while i was looking at the stuff at the double fine booth lol
Aug 31, 2015 5:35 PM - nonmindo: i didnt get a chance to go down and see him in the storm trooper suit tho :(
Aug 31, 2015 5:35 PM - nonmindo: he was at the cooler master maker booth
    Aug 31, 2015 5:36 PM - Mike Kelly: bummer
Aug 31, 2015 5:36 PM - nonmindo: there were actually 2 maker booths this year which was really neat, they had the coolermaster maker booth and then the "polaris maker network for games"
Aug 31, 2015 5:36 PM - Mike Kelly: was that the company that made his computer
    Aug 31, 2015 5:37 PM - nonmindo: i dont think to
    Aug 31, 2015 5:37 PM - nonmindo: so*
Aug 31, 2015 5:37 PM - nonmindo: I saw the helmet tho lol it was niiice...though I had to tell them it might need to be moved since it was sitting on the bed for that giant SeeMeCNC and the heat was on for the bed
    Aug 31, 2015 5:38 PM - Mike Kelly: heh
Aug 31, 2015 5:38 PM - Bigc: I thank it was puget systems that made his system
Aug 31, 2015 5:39 PM - nonmindo: probably, i might actually watch his vid on the build tonight....got nothing better to do
Aug 31, 2015 5:45 PM - Mike Kelly: i feel like printing something but not sure what
    Aug 31, 2015 5:52 PM - jbigler1986: question MK
    Aug 31, 2015 5:53 PM - Mike Kelly: ok
Aug 31, 2015 5:53 PM - jbigler1986: when print starts it probes the middle of the bed then it sets the offset and begins to print. however. when it does the probe it makes the filament jam
    Aug 31, 2015 5:53 PM - jbigler1986: how can i fix it that
Aug 31, 2015 5:55 PM - jbigler1986: i can extrude all day long before that. but when it probes and smashes the filament in the nozzle it makes it jam
    Aug 31, 2015 5:55 PM - Mike Kelly: get a different probe method? i don't really think that's what's happening
    Aug 31, 2015 5:55 PM - Mike Kelly: add a retract before G28?
    Aug 31, 2015 5:55 PM - jbigler1986: G28 ; home all axes G1 Z5 F5000 ; lift Z by 5mm ;M565 Z-.56 ; set the offset for auto-leveling mechanism ;G29 ; run auto-level G1 Z0.8 G92 Z0
    Aug 31, 2015 5:56 PM - jbigler1986: that's my current gcode
    Aug 31, 2015 5:56 PM - Mike Kelly: Before the G28 add a G1 E-2
    Aug 31, 2015 5:56 PM - Mike Kelly: that'll retract 2mm
    Aug 31, 2015 5:56 PM - jbigler1986: k
Aug 31, 2015 5:56 PM - Mike Kelly: should probably enable relative mode
    Aug 31, 2015 5:57 PM - jbigler1986: ?
    Aug 31, 2015 5:58 PM - Mike Kelly: G90 i think
Aug 31, 2015 5:59 PM - Mike Kelly: absolute mode that is to say
Aug 31, 2015 5:59 PM - Mike Kelly: though i'd need to look at what gcode is being generated
Aug 31, 2015 6:02 PM - Bigc: My Bad for the confusion I was speaking the part that holds the Stepper and pushes the filament through the the bowden tube and on through the Hotend
Aug 31, 2015 6:03 PM - Mike Kelly: you mean the extruder?
Aug 31, 2015 6:03 PM - Mike Kelly: or the thing that holds the extruder?
Aug 31, 2015 6:10 PM - Mike Kelly: oh damn just realized i don't have enough conduit
Aug 31, 2015 6:15 PM - daniel871: Ok, guys, it's mostly been fun but now the LCD is dead and the robo isn't responding to a direct usb connection. Guess there was some kind of system failure coming on. I'm done until I can afford a better printer.
    Aug 31, 2015 6:15 PM - Mike Kelly: BigBox ;)
Aug 31, 2015 6:15 PM - daniel871: Power supply fan comes on but nothing else is lighting up.
Aug 31, 2015 6:17 PM - Mike Kelly: is it putting out 12v?
    Aug 31, 2015 6:18 PM - daniel871: Haven't taken it apart to check.
Aug 31, 2015 6:22 PM - Mike Kelly: get some rest, things will look better in the morning
Aug 31, 2015 6:24 PM - danzca6: Nonmindo... Here is Jerry in his suit. http://3dprint.com/92613/3d-printed-stormtrooper-suit/
    Aug 31, 2015 6:25 PM - danzca6: Shoot... Here's gone already
    Aug 31, 2015 6:25 PM - danzca6: *he's
Aug 31, 2015 6:27 PM - daniel871: Not likely, I'm looking at my workload doubling first thing in the morning and my scheduled vacations cancelled until further notice.
Aug 31, 2015 6:29 PM - Mike Kelly: sounds like you're having a rough day
Aug 31, 2015 6:30 PM - daniel871: Yeah, the robo shitting the bed after the decline it had since I got it is just icing on the cake.
Aug 31, 2015 6:31 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah im having extruding issues. I can extrude all day until i actually start a print. Then it says fuck you and jams. Hmmmm
    Aug 31, 2015 6:34 PM - Mike Kelly: pla&jam
    Aug 31, 2015 6:35 PM - jbigler1986: Yes sir
Aug 31, 2015 6:35 PM - Mike Kelly: is it grinding the filament
Aug 31, 2015 6:39 PM - jbigler1986: Nope. Like i said i can extruder filament all day by telling it to extruder 100mm or more
Aug 31, 2015 6:40 PM - jbigler1986: Offset isnt to low either. Already tried that
Aug 31, 2015 6:40 PM - Mike Kelly: if you do like a 10mm offset will it extrude?
    Aug 31, 2015 6:40 PM - daniel871: Oiler?
    Aug 31, 2015 6:41 PM - daniel871: Maybe EAcceleration is too high.
    Aug 31, 2015 6:41 PM - jbigler1986: Nope. Same happens. Hmmm
Aug 31, 2015 6:42 PM - Mike Kelly: is the motor skipping
Aug 31, 2015 6:56 PM - Bigc: Sorry i had to go do something What i mean the red part of this https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&rct...=YwblVfPcH4q8yQT7hobwAg&psig=AFQjCNFYxRHnV5-l
Aug 31, 2015 6:56 PM - Mike Kelly: yes, that part is called the extruder
Aug 31, 2015 6:58 PM - Bigc: Did you print your extruder or did buy one
Aug 31, 2015 6:58 PM - Bigc: did you buy one
    Aug 31, 2015 6:58 PM - Mike Kelly: i printed them
Aug 31, 2015 7:00 PM - Bigc: By any chance do you have a link to it
Aug 31, 2015 7:00 PM - Mike Kelly: just print the greg's wade reloaded
Aug 31, 2015 7:00 PM - Mike Kelly: or use the stock one
Aug 31, 2015 7:00 PM - Mike Kelly: don't overcomplicate things if you don't need to
Aug 31, 2015 7:01 PM - Mike Glass: come on, go with the flintsmart..lol
    Aug 31, 2015 7:01 PM - Mike Kelly: haha
Aug 31, 2015 7:02 PM - Mike Kelly: definitely over complicated
Aug 31, 2015 7:08 PM - Blake Benefield: So i think ive got the bugs worked out of le robo. Considering asking for a robbie part
    Aug 31, 2015 7:35 PM - daniel871: You want mine?
Aug 31, 2015 7:44 PM - daniel871: Sent Harry an email about my robo being dead and to assign the parts he sent me to somebody else, so they are up for assignment again if they need moe people printing parts.
    Aug 31, 2015 7:44 PM - daniel871: More
Aug 31, 2015 8:01 PM - Blake Benefield: I dont have a ton of filament nor do i have a ton of luck with long prints yet lol
Aug 31, 2015 8:04 PM - Harry: Got your email Daniel, emailed you back and replied to you in the leadscrew thread.
Aug 31, 2015 8:08 PM - Mike Kelly: MG i just got some turnbuckles
Aug 31, 2015 8:11 PM - Mike Kelly: harry et all, thing I can salvage this print?
    Aug 31, 2015 8:11 PM - Mike Kelly: [IMG]
    Aug 31, 2015 8:11 PM - Mike Kelly: [IMG]
    Aug 31, 2015 8:11 PM - jbigler1986: Did you run out?
Aug 31, 2015 8:12 PM - Mike Kelly: no it under extruded so the part above that came out

Aug 31, 2015 8:16 PM - Harry: whats wrong with it MK?
Aug 31, 2015 8:16 PM - Harry: did it not finish?
    Aug 31, 2015 8:16 PM - Bigc: Is that a stock R1
Aug 31, 2015 8:20 PM - Blake Benefield: super glue + wood and clamps?
    Aug 31, 2015 8:22 PM - Mike Kelly: yes it's like 95% done
Aug 31, 2015 8:23 PM - Mike Kelly: yes stock
Aug 31, 2015 8:23 PM - Mike Kelly: man i lose the most random things, how do you misplace a whole thing of wiring?
Aug 31, 2015 8:28 PM - Bigc: I know what you mean today i misplaced a large box of zip ties i have no idea where it went
Aug 31, 2015 8:39 PM - Mike Kelly: finally found it, geez
Aug 31, 2015 8:41 PM - Harry: hmm so MK the other 5% didnt print?
    Aug 31, 2015 8:43 PM - Mike Kelly: right
Aug 31, 2015 8:43 PM - Mike Kelly: the other one that failed has that as a good section
Aug 31, 2015 8:43 PM - Mike Kelly: i could try glueing the two together
Aug 31, 2015 8:44 PM - Mike Kelly: or starting the print from where it currently it
Aug 31, 2015 8:44 PM - Harry: hmm whatever u think is best
Aug 31, 2015 8:48 PM - Bigc: Hey Harry by any chance did the latest Shipment of Lead Screws Make it through customs
Aug 31, 2015 8:51 PM - Harry: yes they did
Aug 31, 2015 8:55 PM - Bigc: When Should they Start getting sent out

    Aug 31, 2015 9:02 PM - Bigc: Thanks Harry
Aug 31, 2015 9:02 PM - stahlee: MK, I may have my Robo printing properly again
    Aug 31, 2015 9:02 PM - Harry: No problem!
    Aug 31, 2015 9:03 PM - Mike Kelly: sweet
Aug 31, 2015 9:03 PM - stahlee: I tightened the belt under the table, y axis
Aug 31, 2015 9:03 PM - stahlee: I made two changes at once though
Aug 31, 2015 9:04 PM - stahlee: so I'm not sure which made the most difference
Aug 31, 2015 9:04 PM - stahlee: I think that melt made a big difference
Aug 31, 2015 9:04 PM - stahlee: but I also set my extrusion rate down. It's now set at 95%
Aug 31, 2015 9:04 PM - Bigc: Great work Mike on the v6 hot end files the first two parts fit flawlessly
Aug 31, 2015 9:06 PM - Blake Benefield: might try out a glue stick... having a bit of trouble with finer edges and lines peeling up after 4 or 5 layers
    Aug 31, 2015 9:08 PM - Mike Kelly: thanks
Aug 31, 2015 9:10 PM - Bigc: I use Aqua Net on my print bed it works wonders on abs
Aug 31, 2015 9:11 PM - Mike Kelly: yup it's surpring how well that actually works
Aug 31, 2015 9:12 PM - Bigc: oh yeah It Also works well with ABS
Aug 31, 2015 9:16 PM - Blake Benefield: I used aquanet. still getting peel ups from really thin lines
Aug 31, 2015 9:16 PM - Blake Benefield: even on PLA
Aug 31, 2015 9:16 PM - Mike Kelly: whats your bed surface? aluminum?
Aug 31, 2015 9:16 PM - Blake Benefield: no, this is on the robo
    Aug 31, 2015 9:17 PM - Mike Kelly: oh
    Aug 31, 2015 9:17 PM - Mike Kelly: hmm
Aug 31, 2015 9:17 PM - Mike Kelly: you might be too high then, i'd need to see a first layer picture
Aug 31, 2015 9:17 PM - Bigc: Whats the temp of the bed
    Aug 31, 2015 9:17 PM - Mike Kelly: also filament/bed temp
    Aug 31, 2015 9:18 PM - bamhm182: Hey guys
    Aug 31, 2015 9:18 PM - Bigc: Hey
Aug 31, 2015 9:18 PM - Blake Benefield: 75bed temp, I've already peeled it up MK, but I'll take a snap if it happens on this one. Trying MG's frog tape
    Aug 31, 2015 9:19 PM - Blake Benefield: Shaxon Black PLA@200deg
Aug 31, 2015 9:20 PM - Blake Benefield: was doing it on my Hatchbox TransGreen too
Aug 31, 2015 9:22 PM - Bigc: If you are printing with pla you could always try Blue painters tape
Aug 31, 2015 9:23 PM - bamhm182: I don't know what my printer's deal is this time. It will sit at/around the desired hotend/bed temps, but will still say Heating sometimes...
Aug 31, 2015 9:25 PM - Bigc: Bamhm Are you using an lcd conroller
    Aug 31, 2015 9:25 PM - bamhm182: Yeah
Aug 31, 2015 9:26 PM - bamhm182: Does the printer need to sit at the desired temperature for a few seconds before it will accept that it is ready to print or something?
    Aug 31, 2015 9:26 PM - Mike Kelly: I get that too
Aug 31, 2015 9:26 PM - Mike Kelly: Yeah there is a setting for that
    Aug 31, 2015 9:26 PM - Mike Kelly: I think sometimes it doesn't work
Aug 31, 2015 9:26 PM - Bigc: Yeah Mine did that too I moved to octoprint
    Aug 31, 2015 9:27 PM - stahlee: hey bam
Aug 31, 2015 9:27 PM - bamhm182: Hey stahlee, get your problem fixed?
Aug 31, 2015 9:27 PM - bamhm182: Or did you at least get pointed in the right direction?
Aug 31, 2015 9:27 PM - stahlee: i may have it worked out
Aug 31, 2015 9:28 PM - stahlee: I tightened those belts for the y axis down
    Aug 31, 2015 9:28 PM - stahlee: a lot more
Aug 31, 2015 9:28 PM - stahlee: the table is solid now
Aug 31, 2015 9:28 PM - bamhm182: What's also weird is that sometimes it will have absolutely no problem hitting whatever temperature I want it to, but other times (like right now) it won't go past 195
Aug 31, 2015 9:28 PM - stahlee: and I've reduced the extrusion rate to 95%
Aug 31, 2015 9:28 PM - stahlee: I printed the calibration cube and it came out great. I printed an oiler too that looks really good
Aug 31, 2015 9:29 PM - stahlee: it may simply have been the bed
    Aug 31, 2015 9:29 PM - stahlee: belts just weren't tight enough
Aug 31, 2015 9:29 PM - bamhm182: Pressed preheat ABS, and it went to 215 with no problem, then I told it to print and it reset the ideal temp to 205, so hopefully this time it will catch it right
    Aug 31, 2015 9:29 PM - bamhm182: Awesome, glad to hear it
Aug 31, 2015 9:32 PM - bamhm182: Also, my temperature seems like it is jumping around a LOT more than it used to. Wonder if my therm is trying to go out or something...
    Aug 31, 2015 9:36 PM - stahlee: i have some photos
    Aug 31, 2015 9:37 PM - stahlee: Here's the cube tonight https://app.box.com/s/kwd6t1k0h0klz5djy85ru5o5c81x84p9
    Aug 31, 2015 9:37 PM - stahlee: the oiler https://app.box.com/s/yk2946oqlqpz1369u7ohmihsib9aii7c
    Aug 31, 2015 9:38 PM - stahlee: here's the good one. The y tensioners
    Aug 31, 2015 9:39 PM - stahlee: https://app.box.com/s/jt1qg4819fkau6eewvk178o40g6vlmjo
Aug 31, 2015 9:39 PM - stahlee: last nights and tonights side by side
    Aug 31, 2015 9:39 PM - bamhm182: Nice, man! Looks good now
Aug 31, 2015 9:39 PM - bamhm182: Did that one corner of the cube start to lift off the bed?
Aug 31, 2015 9:39 PM - stahlee: yeah, so much better
Aug 31, 2015 9:40 PM - stahlee: No, they are sticking. I get those corners sticking up
Aug 31, 2015 9:40 PM - stahlee: in the image it looks like it's on the side, but it's a little tail sticking up
Aug 31, 2015 9:40 PM - stahlee: not sure what that is yet
Aug 31, 2015 9:40 PM - bamhm182: Hmn, might be an issue with the filament not adhering to itself properly
    Aug 31, 2015 9:41 PM - stahlee: might be
Aug 31, 2015 9:41 PM - stahlee: i'll swap to a different spool tomorrow. That Robo green is tempramental
Aug 31, 2015 9:41 PM - stahlee: i'm using it for testing because it's the hardest to use
Aug 31, 2015 9:42 PM - Blake Benefield: So I'm assuming the reason people use these LCD controllers is to eliminate the annoying flickering like my hictop produces?
Aug 31, 2015 9:42 PM - stahlee: yeah, you don't rely on a computer. just stick the SD card in the LCD
Aug 31, 2015 9:43 PM - Blake Benefield: wrong LCD controller
    Aug 31, 2015 9:43 PM - stahlee: ah
Aug 31, 2015 9:43 PM - stahlee: bam, are you having heat problems?
    Aug 31, 2015 9:43 PM - Blake Benefield: LED
Aug 31, 2015 9:43 PM - Blake Benefield: tired, sorry
    Aug 31, 2015 9:44 PM - stahlee: ah
    Aug 31, 2015 9:44 PM - stahlee: haha
    Aug 31, 2015 9:44 PM - stahlee: :)
    Aug 31, 2015 9:44 PM - stahlee: LED
Aug 31, 2015 9:44 PM - Blake Benefield: also on my phone, autocorrect doesn't help sometimes
Aug 31, 2015 9:44 PM - stahlee: speaking of LCD, are most people here using one?
Aug 31, 2015 9:44 PM - Blake Benefield: I haven't put one on the Robo yet, but the hictop has one
Aug 31, 2015 9:48 PM - bamhm182: Yeah, I am, intermittently though. This last print was the worst one to get started yet
    Aug 31, 2015 9:49 PM - Blake Benefield: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...d_controller_ramps-_-9SIA3XT2KN7136-_-Product
Aug 31, 2015 9:49 PM - bamhm182: The printer wasn't satisfied with the temperature, even though it would have been perfectly fine to print at, so it wasn't starting
Aug 31, 2015 9:50 PM - bamhm182: It finally started, but it took me just around 30 minutes of waiting for it
    Aug 31, 2015 9:50 PM - bamhm182: This is my LCD: http://printedsolid.com/collections/accessories-and-upgrades/products/smart-lcd-controller-xxl
Aug 31, 2015 9:51 PM - stahlee: yeah, the XXL was the one I was planning to order
Aug 31, 2015 9:51 PM - stahlee: Blake posted a nice inexpensive one though
Aug 31, 2015 9:51 PM - bamhm182: I love it, but for some reason the button is getting harder to push. I feel like it may be the knob I printed for it when I first got it, but I'm not sure. I need to take the knob off and play with it for a while
    Aug 31, 2015 9:51 PM - bamhm182: Yeah, it is nice that it's like 1/5 the cost
    Aug 31, 2015 9:53 PM - stahlee: i think the reprap one is $29
Aug 31, 2015 9:53 PM - bamhm182: I don't think it's the knob I printed. I took it off and tried it without the knob, and it was still a pain
Aug 31, 2015 9:58 PM - Blake Benefield: they have those too
    Aug 31, 2015 9:58 PM - Blake Benefield: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...d_controller_ramps-_-9SIA7BF34K1781-_-Product
Aug 31, 2015 9:58 PM - Blake Benefield: dunno if its exactly the same or not
Aug 31, 2015 9:59 PM - Blake Benefield: well judging by the case available I know its not EXACTLY the same
Aug 31, 2015 10:00 PM - Blake Benefield: Dunno about any compatability issues either. One thing about ordering from PrintedSolid is that you know what you're getting will work with Robo
Aug 31, 2015 10:08 PM - bamhm182: All these should work with the Robo, but I don't know if you will have to make modifications to the firmware

Aug 31, 2015 10:13 PM - Blake Benefield: I'm referring to being able to print enclosures etc too.
Aug 31, 2015 10:13 PM - bamhm182: Might have to design something, but it shouldn't be too hard
    Aug 31, 2015 10:13 PM - bamhm182: Never a bad idea to learn 3d modeling
Aug 31, 2015 10:14 PM - Blake Benefield: anyway, off to bed with me. 3 crown pieces finally holding to the bed. Hopefully have 3 more pieces in the morning
Aug 31, 2015 10:14 PM - bamhm182: I'm headed to bed in just a few minutes too. Waiting for a few more layers to print on my current Robbie piece
Aug 31, 2015 10:14 PM - Blake Benefield: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:39412 working on this one
    Aug 31, 2015 10:15 PM - bamhm182: Sweeeet
Aug 31, 2015 10:15 PM - bamhm182: Never got into Game of Thrones, but that is still pretty badass
    Aug 31, 2015 10:16 PM - bamhm182:
Aug 31, 2015 10:17 PM - bamhm182: I really want to get my heated bed to be wired like the one in that video. I hate how it is currently, it binds up and creates unneeded tension
Aug 31, 2015 10:21 PM - Blake Benefield: more of a lord of the rings thing
    Aug 31, 2015 10:21 PM - bamhm182: I also really like his cable chain.
    Aug 31, 2015 10:21 PM - bamhm182: Oh crap, you're right
    Aug 31, 2015 10:22 PM - bamhm182: Medieval was never my thing
Aug 31, 2015 10:29 PM - stahlee: i removed the plastic clip from under the bed that holds the cable
Aug 31, 2015 10:31 PM - stahlee: bam, do you have a beta model
Aug 31, 2015 10:31 PM - stahlee: that doesn't have the ribbon cable?
    Aug 31, 2015 10:44 PM - bamhm182: I am not sure exactly what version I have
Aug 31, 2015 10:44 PM - bamhm182: I think I've got like the later iteration of the beta version
Aug 31, 2015 10:45 PM - bamhm182: It doesn't have the ribbon cable like the R1 and it doesn't have the glass bed marking like the R1, but when I first got my printer, I was told the R1s had the 8mm lead screws and the covered bottom
    Aug 31, 2015 10:46 PM - bamhm182: http://bambuser.com/v/5760215
Aug 31, 2015 10:46 PM - bamhm182: I need to find out what that noise is that pops up a couple times in that video. The grinding type noise. It seems like it is becoming more and more frequent
Aug 31, 2015 10:48 PM - bamhm182: It sounds like it's coming from the Y axis somewhere, but where, I'm not really sure
Aug 31, 2015 11:18 PM - Kevin Nguyen: anyone still online?
Sep 1, 2015 12:36 AM - PeterkSharma: yo yo yo
    Sep 1, 2015 4:51 AM - jbigler1986: morning
Sep 1, 2015 5:40 AM - daniel871: Well, sent Harry a message about the leadscrews until I can find time/calm down enough to go about gutting/replacing the Arduino/Ramps boards.
Sep 1, 2015 5:50 AM - Bill Monroe: goooood morning
    Sep 1, 2015 5:55 AM - jbigler1986: Morning sir
Sep 1, 2015 5:55 AM - Bill Monroe: Justin, how the heck are you?
Sep 1, 2015 5:58 AM - jbigler1986: Pretty good. Attorney's are plugging away. They have like 8 Subpoenas to get. Lol. My ex is going to get nailed
Sep 1, 2015 5:58 AM - daniel871: Did you get any printing done with your Robo?
Sep 1, 2015 5:59 AM - jbigler1986: nope. i think steppers need adjusted. gonna try that tonight and see what happens
Sep 1, 2015 5:59 AM - daniel871: Turns out the ex knows something about electronics and messed with the POT settings on all of the drivers?
Sep 1, 2015 6:00 AM - jbigler1986: ha. yeah right. well i didn't test it fully after adjusting from the start
Sep 1, 2015 6:00 AM - jbigler1986: they seemed to actually be careful with the robo. not 1 thing was broke or damaged on it. I think they knew better
Sep 1, 2015 6:01 AM - daniel871: I'm trying to decide whether I want to get another Mega/Ramps combo or try to upgrade to a better controller board/etc. and what would be the best thing to move to.
    Sep 1, 2015 6:01 AM - WheresWaldo: Morning
    Sep 1, 2015 6:02 AM - daniel871: Morning Waldo.
    Sep 1, 2015 6:02 AM - stahlee: Hey guys
Sep 1, 2015 6:02 AM - daniel871: My robo hated your firmware/your firmware hated my Robo when I tried it last week.
Sep 1, 2015 6:02 AM - WheresWaldo: Dan, I am looking at Smoothie for the current printer I am building. Much more robust than RAMPS but the firmware lags a bit behind Marlin.
Sep 1, 2015 6:02 AM - stahlee: quick question before I head to work
Sep 1, 2015 6:03 AM - stahlee: Anybody using Simplify3D? I'm thinking about springing for it
Sep 1, 2015 6:03 AM - WheresWaldo: Don't know why the firmware would have any effect. I have been using it over the past couple of months and it works very well.
    Sep 1, 2015 6:03 AM - janot928: i do but
Sep 1, 2015 6:03 AM - daniel871: It flashed, but when I tried to run a print it would do the autolevel and then give "heat cycle fail" errors.
    Sep 1, 2015 6:04 AM - janot928: i didn´t pqid for it
Sep 1, 2015 6:04 AM - WheresWaldo: Did you do the PID calibration for the heaters?
    Sep 1, 2015 6:04 AM - stahlee: that's the best way
    Sep 1, 2015 6:04 AM - janot928: :D
Sep 1, 2015 6:05 AM - stahlee: do you like it
Sep 1, 2015 6:05 AM - stahlee: seems pretty awesome, just a steep price
Sep 1, 2015 6:05 AM - janot928: do you guys have an V6 on your robo?
Sep 1, 2015 6:05 AM - WheresWaldo: @stahlee, other than the rave reviews of support structures, I really couldn't see any reason to move from Slic3r to S3D.
Sep 1, 2015 6:05 AM - daniel871: I was going to when the Arduino apparently decided to give up the ghost. I'm looking for replacement boards/whether to change everything now (it was having issues before this, so I'm thinking the newer Marlin was just able to detect problems and complain about it).
    Sep 1, 2015 6:05 AM - janot928: the supports are superbs
    Sep 1, 2015 6:06 AM - stahlee: I'm using Cura now, which isn't bad
    Sep 1, 2015 6:06 AM - stahlee: i haven't run Slic3r yet
Sep 1, 2015 6:06 AM - WheresWaldo: But a lot of models only need tweaking to print without supports.
Sep 1, 2015 6:06 AM - stahlee: finally have Cura dialed in
Sep 1, 2015 6:06 AM - janot928: well the only adventage for S3D is the support
Sep 1, 2015 6:06 AM - daniel871: Never got around to trying Slic3r, went from MC to S3D and haven't really looked at the free slicers.
Sep 1, 2015 6:06 AM - janot928: so if ou can get it for free go for it
    Sep 1, 2015 6:07 AM - janot928: (if you knoy yhat i mean)
Sep 1, 2015 6:07 AM - WheresWaldo: Well I would stick with Cura then, there are more variables to set in Slic3r and not everything matches up with Cura.
Sep 1, 2015 6:07 AM - daniel871: The only way I know to legitimately get it for free would be if it was bundled with a printer (still not free, just built into the cost of said printer)
Sep 1, 2015 6:07 AM - Bill Monroe: S3D affords control of printing that's light years better than the freebies.. but if you're not able to understand the fine details of controlling your printer, you're not ready for it.
Sep 1, 2015 6:08 AM - janot928: "legiöitaly* do not know this word
Sep 1, 2015 6:08 AM - WheresWaldo: Are you implying that non-S3D users have a lower level of comprehension?
Sep 1, 2015 6:09 AM - Bill Monroe: if that's what you got out of what I said... my goodnesss.
    Sep 1, 2015 6:09 AM - WheresWaldo: LOL
    Sep 1, 2015 6:09 AM - stahlee: :)
    Sep 1, 2015 6:09 AM - janot928: i muss admit you sounded like that
    Sep 1, 2015 6:10 AM - janot928: anyway i think it`s a good slicer but not worth the 140 $
Sep 1, 2015 6:10 AM - Bill Monroe: have you used it?
Sep 1, 2015 6:10 AM - stahlee: I just got my Robo printing properly again. I've only had it about a month. It was right on the money out of the box and then about a week and half ago it got messy
Sep 1, 2015 6:10 AM - WheresWaldo: What kind of messy
Sep 1, 2015 6:10 AM - stahlee: I was getting frustrated trying to get it printing clean again.
Sep 1, 2015 6:11 AM - stahlee: Cura is definitely solid. I like the idea of the control from S3D. Like different temps per layer
    Sep 1, 2015 6:12 AM - janot928: i know that feeling
Sep 1, 2015 6:12 AM - janot928: I fucked the bowden tube instalation on my E3D and it
    Sep 1, 2015 6:12 AM - janot928: is a pain in the ass
    Sep 1, 2015 6:13 AM - janot928: bty http://community.robo3d.com/index.p...r-craftware-1-11-has-just-been-released.6518/
    Sep 1, 2015 6:13 AM - janot928: try this out before S3D
    Sep 1, 2015 6:14 AM - janot928: still in beta but promisses a lot
Sep 1, 2015 6:14 AM - WheresWaldo: @stahlee, my big deal is that different filaments require different sets of parameters, even from the same company.
Sep 1, 2015 6:14 AM - WheresWaldo: I am really struggling to dial in the orange PETG, when the red and blue print perfectly.
Sep 1, 2015 6:15 AM - WheresWaldo: Craftware is fugly
    Sep 1, 2015 6:15 AM - jbigler1986: S3D is well worth it
    Sep 1, 2015 6:15 AM - janot928: still in beta
    Sep 1, 2015 6:15 AM - janot928: i might test it
    Sep 1, 2015 6:15 AM - janot928: in the next fey days
Sep 1, 2015 6:16 AM - jbigler1986: yeah there is a guy with an eye patch that has it
    Sep 1, 2015 6:16 AM - stahlee: wish S3D had a 30 day trial
Sep 1, 2015 6:16 AM - janot928: have you guys heard about the new led screw upgrade kit ?
    Sep 1, 2015 6:17 AM - janot928: @stahlee so do i
Sep 1, 2015 6:17 AM - jbigler1986: yep. they seem to be crap though. I would buy them from a different supplier
Sep 1, 2015 6:18 AM - stahlee: @janot928, is this where the screws are attached directly to the stepper
    Sep 1, 2015 6:18 AM - janot928: yup

Sep 1, 2015 6:18 AM - daniel871: Saw a post the other day on a 3D printer group asking about using console controllers to control a 3d printer the way some low end CNC machines can be controlled, lol.
Sep 1, 2015 6:18 AM - stahlee: ok, i have to leave for work. Have a good one all
    Sep 1, 2015 6:18 AM - janot928: i don`t really see the point since
    Sep 1, 2015 6:18 AM - janot928: i have no probleös
Sep 1, 2015 6:19 AM - daniel871: The leadscrew upgrade is mainly for the people that had issues with ribbing due to bad couplers on the original setup.
Sep 1, 2015 6:19 AM - daniel871: They basically have to be put together perfectly and never jostled in order to work properly on the couplers.
    Sep 1, 2015 6:19 AM - jbigler1986: the couplers are the devil
Sep 1, 2015 6:20 AM - daniel871: It really just trades one weak point for another, because if the leadscrews aren't perfectly straight you aren't getting any better.
    Sep 1, 2015 6:20 AM - janot928: i didn`t had any probs with it sofar
Sep 1, 2015 6:20 AM - daniel871: Yes, I can use as many negatives in a single sentence as I want.
Sep 1, 2015 6:20 AM - Bill Monroe: the T8 screws rectify a fundamental flaw in the design of the linear actuation of the Z axis.. it's not a band-aid for ribbing,
    Sep 1, 2015 6:21 AM - daniel871: If you aren't having issues then don't change anything.
Sep 1, 2015 6:21 AM - WheresWaldo: You could use solid couplers instead of flex ones, and it would accomplish the same thing, since the couplers are not in a rigid fixture there was never a real need to use flex couplers.
    Sep 1, 2015 6:22 AM - janot928: i wont spend 100+ $ on that
    Sep 1, 2015 6:22 AM - janot928: trustt me
Sep 1, 2015 6:22 AM - WheresWaldo: I meant since the z threaded rods are not fixed at both ends.
Sep 1, 2015 6:22 AM - daniel871: Man, it would be nice if the threaded rods *were* fixed at both ends.
Sep 1, 2015 6:23 AM - Bill Monroe: that would be best. along with not using all-thread
Sep 1, 2015 6:23 AM - Bill Monroe: but it
Sep 1, 2015 6:23 AM - daniel871: Make it easier to tell if their is enough warp/bend in them to ruin a print once the carriage reaches a certain height.
Sep 1, 2015 6:23 AM - Bill Monroe: but then all people woujld complain about is the price
Sep 1, 2015 6:23 AM - WheresWaldo: Don't really need that either, and then you would have to make sure they are perfectly aligned with the smooth rods.
Sep 1, 2015 6:24 AM - daniel871: Yeah, I was thinking about rods with some smooth ends for fitting into another hole like the smooth rods do.
Sep 1, 2015 6:24 AM - jbigler1986: well trust me. the $100 was well worth it
Sep 1, 2015 6:24 AM - daniel871: Like the Y-axis threaded rod on the cheap POS chinese CNC machine my mom has.
    Sep 1, 2015 6:24 AM - janot928: @Daniel just DO IT
Sep 1, 2015 6:24 AM - WheresWaldo: Only if it actually fixes a problem, If you don't have ribbing issues it it 5 rolls of filament instead.
    Sep 1, 2015 6:25 AM - daniel871: 5 rolls of cheap filament, maybe.
Sep 1, 2015 6:26 AM - janot928: but the second rod for Z axis is there to conteract the side to side forces
Sep 1, 2015 6:26 AM - daniel871: It's actually there to help support the X-axis carriage more than to counteract any forces.
Sep 1, 2015 6:26 AM - janot928: the threaded rod only deals with the downwards forces
Sep 1, 2015 6:26 AM - jbigler1986: if you don't have issues with the couplers now. You will
    Sep 1, 2015 6:26 AM - janot928: the smooth rod
    Sep 1, 2015 6:27 AM - janot928: it doesn`t support anything
Sep 1, 2015 6:27 AM - WheresWaldo: Then replace them with solid ones, way cheaper than new steppers
    Sep 1, 2015 6:27 AM - janot928: how could it
    Sep 1, 2015 6:27 AM - jbigler1986: i wouldn't mess with couplers at all
Sep 1, 2015 6:27 AM - daniel871: You are aware of the two horizontal rods the carriage rides on right?
Sep 1, 2015 6:28 AM - janot928: yes but the main purpose is to keep it stable by taking care of the side to side mouvement
Sep 1, 2015 6:29 AM - janot928: momentum as you americans call it i think
Sep 1, 2015 6:29 AM - daniel871: Right. See how long the threaded rods can support the weight of the X-axis if the smooth rods are removed and you'll see what I mean.
Sep 1, 2015 6:29 AM - daniel871: No motion involved, just let the axis sit there.
Sep 1, 2015 6:30 AM - daniel871: They're there to keep the load balanced since it all hangs to one side off of the threaded rods.
Sep 1, 2015 6:30 AM - janot928: in fact just try to lift the X axis and you yill get the answer :p
Sep 1, 2015 6:30 AM - janot928: if the smooth roods cannot support the axis it öeans that the threaded rods do
    Sep 1, 2015 6:31 AM - janot928: simple logic
Sep 1, 2015 6:31 AM - daniel871: The smooth rods help to limit the horizontal shifting, but if the rods are bent/crooked enough it won't matter.
Sep 1, 2015 6:32 AM - daniel871: When I get my robo working again I'll record a video of the shifting that goes on due to the warped lead screws I have right now (assuming the crack in my carriage doesn't finish cracking and send everything falling apart).
Sep 1, 2015 6:33 AM - janot928: wich of your rood is bend
Sep 1, 2015 6:33 AM - daniel871: Both lead screws are bent. The smooth rods do very little to limit the horizontal movements on the threaded rod side of the axis.
Sep 1, 2015 6:34 AM - janot928: well.... have you tried to "unbend" them (dum question)
Sep 1, 2015 6:34 AM - daniel871: If you could look at it top down without the cover on the robo, you'd see the horizontal rod between the threaded rods shifting around while the rod between the smooth rods stays in place.
    Sep 1, 2015 6:35 AM - janot928: you`ve lost me man :p
Sep 1, 2015 6:35 AM - daniel871: Don't have the tools to attempt it, also anything short of a proper machine shop would make them worse.
    Sep 1, 2015 6:36 AM - janot928: doesn`t hurt to try
    Sep 1, 2015 6:39 AM - daniel871: Crude MSPAINT [IMG]
Sep 1, 2015 6:40 AM - daniel871: The rectangle at the top is the stationary rod on the X-axis between the smooth rods.
Sep 1, 2015 6:40 AM - daniel871: The rectangle at the bottom is the one attached to the screws.
Sep 1, 2015 6:42 AM - daniel871: Don't have a quick way to depict that it's actually moving in an oval direction, or that the screws are moving independent of each other, but that second rod travels as far as the flex in the ends of the axis will allow. So when you actually watch it moving it looks like the X-carriage is twisting.
    Sep 1, 2015 6:43 AM - Bill Monroe: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjg9itug8Vcc4fnMZKyWZPA/live
Sep 1, 2015 6:44 AM - daniel871: What's happening on my robo is pretty monstrous and not something you'll typically see, but it's what can happen if the threaded rods aren't perfectly straight and mounted straight, which is the problem some people were having with the couplers and are now having with the lead screw kits that weren't straight.
Sep 1, 2015 6:46 AM - daniel871: If you watch Bill's stream there, you see that there is no flex in the X-axis because his machine has everything straight.
Sep 1, 2015 6:48 AM - danzca6: Daniel, I wonder if something like this would help in the short term until Harry gets you a replacement
    Sep 1, 2015 6:48 AM - danzca6: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:955460
Sep 1, 2015 6:50 AM - daniel871: Tried something like that already, the leadscrews pulled that off of the smooth rod and started spinning them around.
Sep 1, 2015 6:51 AM - daniel871: Had them leftover from attempting to use them on the coupler-mounted rods and it did the same thing then too, so it wasn't all that surprising.
Sep 1, 2015 6:51 AM - danzca6: wow...that is some force for the leadscrew to pull it off like that
Sep 1, 2015 6:53 AM - daniel871: Not really, it just clips on to the smooth rod.
Sep 1, 2015 6:54 AM - daniel871: Kind of hard to use a printer that isn't printing accurately/well to print things that make it print better though.
Sep 1, 2015 6:54 AM - daniel871: If it's out of spec to start with.
    Sep 1, 2015 6:54 AM - Bill Monroe: untrue
    Sep 1, 2015 6:55 AM - daniel871: Well sure, 3dhubs is easy.
Sep 1, 2015 6:55 AM - Bill Monroe: does your case have the little racetrack-shaped ridge above the ends of the z-axis smooth rods?
Sep 1, 2015 6:56 AM - daniel871: No. It has two round extrusions that the smooth rods fit into. the rest of the inside is smooth until you get down to the part where it fastens to the base.
Sep 1, 2015 6:57 AM - Bill Monroe: ah so, the rod is held firm at the top
Sep 1, 2015 6:58 AM - daniel871: There is a little slop in it (can wiggle the rods about 1/16" in any given direction) but they aren't floating too freely.
Sep 1, 2015 6:58 AM - Bill Monroe: for best result, they must not move at all
Sep 1, 2015 6:59 AM - Bill Monroe: mine was made before that feature in the case you have
Sep 1, 2015 6:59 AM - Bill Monroe: I printed a part to hold them firm, then glued it in.
Sep 1, 2015 7:00 AM - daniel871: I've had to take mine apart too often to feel comfortable about gluing them in just yet.
Sep 1, 2015 7:00 AM - Bill Monroe: therefore disproving the statement: Kind of hard to use a printer that isn't printing accurately/well to print things that make it print better though.
Sep 1, 2015 7:00 AM - Bill Monroe: not the rods!! the part I made.
Sep 1, 2015 7:02 AM - daniel871: Minor issue at this point since the electronics died.
Sep 1, 2015 7:03 AM - daniel871: Turns out the slow crawl/inability to run all of the heaters had to do with the mega dying and not my heaters/thermistors.
    Sep 1, 2015 7:18 AM - Blake Benefield: Mornin
    Sep 1, 2015 7:25 AM - Mike Kelly: mornin
Sep 1, 2015 7:27 AM - jbigler1986: printing dons dual carriage at work
    Sep 1, 2015 7:28 AM - Mike Kelly: sweet
Sep 1, 2015 7:54 AM - daniel871: I'm eyeballing a Rambo board to replace the Mega/Ramps with. Is there any reason not to do that?
Sep 1, 2015 7:54 AM - daniel871: The manual and wiki articles on firmware seem pretty straightforward.
Sep 1, 2015 7:54 AM - daniel871: I like that there are actual, visible fuses to check and replace if they blow for any reason.
Sep 1, 2015 7:54 AM - WheresWaldo: No reason at all not to use the Rambo
Sep 1, 2015 7:55 AM - WheresWaldo: Its all still running Marlin firmware.
    Sep 1, 2015 7:55 AM - daniel871: Main reason I'm eyeballing it.
Sep 1, 2015 7:55 AM - daniel871: Also I like how simplified everything looks on the diagram for where everything is wired in.
Sep 1, 2015 7:56 AM - danzca6: daniel, had to go to a meeting, but I put one of those clips on my smooth rod and couldn't put it on or off without taking the cover off. That is why I thought it was some force for yours to be pulled off
Sep 1, 2015 7:56 AM - daniel871: I was able to put mine on by running the carriage down to the bed and reaching in on either side. So my prints were obviously pretty loose.
    Sep 1, 2015 7:57 AM - Mike Kelly: Rambo's seem fine imo
Sep 1, 2015 7:57 AM - Mike Kelly: doesn't it use screw terminals?
Sep 1, 2015 7:57 AM - Mike Kelly: i prefer those to connectors

Sep 1, 2015 7:57 AM - daniel871: Hang on, let me open the manual link again.
Sep 1, 2015 7:57 AM - WheresWaldo: Yeah, a lot of things are better than on a RAMPS
    Sep 1, 2015 7:58 AM - daniel871: https://ultimachine.com/content/rambo-13
    Sep 1, 2015 7:58 AM - daniel871: And manual https://ultimachine.com/sites/default/files/RAMBo-manual-1-3.pdf
Sep 1, 2015 7:58 AM - Mike Kelly: the 3D printing community on G+ was working on a RAMPS 1.5
Sep 1, 2015 7:58 AM - Mike Kelly: i wonder if that's made anymore headway
    Sep 1, 2015 7:58 AM - daniel871: digital control of the pots.
    Sep 1, 2015 7:59 AM - daniel871: Man...
Sep 1, 2015 7:59 AM - daniel871: Preconfigured Marlin already flashed and all wiring/crimps/connectors included.
Sep 1, 2015 8:00 AM - Mike Kelly: i've considered swapping to that
Sep 1, 2015 8:01 AM - WheresWaldo: Isn't RAMPS 1.4 from like 2011/2012, If there was going to be a RAMPS 1.5 you would have thought they would have done it by now.
    Sep 1, 2015 8:01 AM - daniel871: [IMG]
Sep 1, 2015 8:01 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah well open source has no schedules or timelines
Sep 1, 2015 8:01 AM - Mike Kelly: just whenever people in the know what to do the work
Sep 1, 2015 8:02 AM - WheresWaldo: Granted, but if 1.5 was real, or even a thought, maybe its the Duke nukem of 3D printing.
    Sep 1, 2015 8:02 AM - Mike Kelly: forever a let down
    Sep 1, 2015 8:02 AM - Mike Kelly: maybe
Sep 1, 2015 8:02 AM - daniel871: Nah, not unless it goes 15 years before being finished.
    Sep 1, 2015 8:02 AM - daniel871: Or however long it went.
Sep 1, 2015 8:03 AM - daniel871: Huh. You can get that Rambo with optical limit switches.
Sep 1, 2015 8:03 AM - Mike Kelly: you can do that on the ramps
    Sep 1, 2015 8:03 AM - WheresWaldo: Yep
Sep 1, 2015 8:03 AM - daniel871: Any benefit to that over mechanical switches?
Sep 1, 2015 8:03 AM - Mike Kelly: you can go below 0
Sep 1, 2015 8:04 AM - Mike Kelly: they might be more repeatible too
Sep 1, 2015 8:05 AM - daniel871: Anybody on here used them on a modification to the Robo?
    Sep 1, 2015 8:05 AM - jbigler1986: yeah
    Sep 1, 2015 8:06 AM - jbigler1986: jk. i have no idea
Sep 1, 2015 8:06 AM - WheresWaldo: Marlin has a M code to test repeatability of your endstops, can't remember which one, to lazy to look for it.
Sep 1, 2015 8:07 AM - Mike Kelly: really? neat
Sep 1, 2015 8:07 AM - Mike Kelly: daniel: Leon Grossman used them
Sep 1, 2015 8:07 AM - daniel871: Before I get too excited, let me see how expensive it is for that and the LCD kit for it (since it looks like my current LCD is fried).
Sep 1, 2015 8:08 AM - jbigler1986: what the hell do you do to your printer
Sep 1, 2015 8:09 AM - danzca6: might need a UPS to even out power and keep from surges and brown outs?
    Sep 1, 2015 8:09 AM - WheresWaldo: http://reprap.org/wiki/G-code#M48:_Measure_Z-Probe_repeatability
    Sep 1, 2015 8:09 AM - daniel871: It's on a UPS, Danzca.
    Sep 1, 2015 8:09 AM - danzca6: I've got one on mine
    Sep 1, 2015 8:09 AM - danzca6: ok
Sep 1, 2015 8:10 AM - daniel871: I've had a lot of problems with it since buying it though.
    Sep 1, 2015 8:10 AM - daniel871: The robo, not the UPS.
    Sep 1, 2015 8:11 AM - Mike Kelly: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111759883813
Sep 1, 2015 8:11 AM - daniel871: JB, it looks like the controller was weak/failing for a while now given all the small problems I'd been having up until it finally failed.
Sep 1, 2015 8:11 AM - Mike Kelly: sweet thanks waldo, i'm gonna test that
Sep 1, 2015 8:12 AM - Mike Kelly: i wonder what verbosity and legs of travel are
Sep 1, 2015 8:12 AM - daniel871: Does it need the newer marlin firmware to work, Waldo, or will the old Robo firmware do it?
    Sep 1, 2015 8:12 AM - daniel871: The repeatability test.
    Sep 1, 2015 8:12 AM - WheresWaldo: Any version
Sep 1, 2015 8:14 AM - WheresWaldo: If you want to test a spot 8 times it would be M48 V8
Sep 1, 2015 8:14 AM - daniel871: Hammer the glass bed until it cracks. :p
Sep 1, 2015 8:15 AM - WheresWaldo: If you want to go to a specific spot and test: M48 X100 Y120 V8, would take you to 100/120 and test 8 times
    Sep 1, 2015 8:16 AM - Mike Kelly: ah
    Sep 1, 2015 8:16 AM - Mike Kelly: so then what's P for? like G29 probing?
    Sep 1, 2015 8:18 AM - WheresWaldo: Sorry V is verbosity level 0-4 it always tests 10 times, no P in M48
Sep 1, 2015 8:20 AM - WheresWaldo: 0 only reports standard deviation after the 10 tests
Sep 1, 2015 8:21 AM - Mike Kelly: i've been really curious how repeatable my probe is, this will tell me
Sep 1, 2015 8:21 AM - Mike Kelly: then i can compare it to the mini diff IR when I get it
Sep 1, 2015 8:22 AM - WheresWaldo: 1 reports mean and standard deviation at the end of the sequence
    Sep 1, 2015 8:24 AM - WheresWaldo: I think 2 reports the above plus the Z (position - zprobe_offset)
Sep 1, 2015 8:28 AM - WheresWaldo: Mike, let us know how it works for you. Just an FYI deviation will be different in different sections of the bed, in the middle I get around .005+-, at the corners near the magnets it is .003+-
Sep 1, 2015 8:29 AM - WheresWaldo: The glass should have been 2 mm thicker, then we wouldn't have to deal with bed flex,
    Sep 1, 2015 8:31 AM - daniel871: So many shipping options.
Sep 1, 2015 8:31 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah well, they already bumped it from 3mm to 4mm
Sep 1, 2015 8:32 AM - WheresWaldo: Wow, must have been like mush at 3 mm
    Sep 1, 2015 8:32 AM - daniel871: [IMG]
Sep 1, 2015 8:32 AM - WheresWaldo: How did they get anything to stick?
Sep 1, 2015 8:32 AM - daniel871: Probably get broken into a dozen pieces via USPS.
Sep 1, 2015 8:34 AM - WheresWaldo: MK, this is why my Spider build will have a MIC6 build plate, and then glass on top of that.
Sep 1, 2015 8:34 AM - WheresWaldo: Dan, I am afraid to say I actually like USPS Priority Mail
    Sep 1, 2015 8:34 AM - daniel871: The $6 one?
    Sep 1, 2015 8:35 AM - daniel871: For shipping the Rambo board?
Sep 1, 2015 8:36 AM - Mike Kelly: they switched to 4mm beds when the robo got autolevel
Sep 1, 2015 8:36 AM - Mike Kelly: or shortly there after
Sep 1, 2015 8:38 AM - Blake Benefield: Whats the difference between Rambo and Smoothie?
Sep 1, 2015 8:39 AM - Mike Kelly: rampo runs on arduino
Sep 1, 2015 8:39 AM - Mike Kelly: smoothie runs on ARM
Sep 1, 2015 8:40 AM - Blake Benefield: gotcha, so its just the processor
Sep 1, 2015 8:40 AM - Blake Benefield: is there an advantage of one over the other?
Sep 1, 2015 8:41 AM - daniel871: Well, pulled the trigger on the Rambo/optical end stops and LCD. If that combination and some straight lead screws don't work I will be well and truly pissed.
Sep 1, 2015 8:42 AM - Mike Kelly: for a cartesian system you won't notice any difference
Sep 1, 2015 8:42 AM - Mike Kelly: but for a delta it can actual handle the delta kinematic equations in real time
Sep 1, 2015 8:42 AM - Mike Kelly: for arduino based deltas, they use a simplification formula so you lose some accuracy on the outside edges
Sep 1, 2015 8:43 AM - Blake Benefield: so smoothie is better for delta, doesn't matter for cart
Sep 1, 2015 8:43 AM - daniel871: Would that mean the SeemeCNC delta using the rambo board would be better if it had a smoothie board?
    Sep 1, 2015 8:46 AM - Mike Kelly: yes
    Sep 1, 2015 8:46 AM - Mike Kelly: precisely
Sep 1, 2015 8:46 AM - WheresWaldo: Yes, it is the same shipping, so the $6.00 one is fine.
Sep 1, 2015 8:46 AM - Mike Kelly: if you had an insanely fast cartesian it might help
Sep 1, 2015 8:47 AM - WheresWaldo: Smoothie is what I am going to do on the Spider
Sep 1, 2015 8:48 AM - WheresWaldo: Smoothie has more potential, but Marlin is more complete for 3D printing than Smoothieware.
Sep 1, 2015 8:48 AM - Blake Benefield: Smoothie came on the HICTOP... ard on the robo
Sep 1, 2015 8:49 AM - WheresWaldo: But I do like configuration as a file rather than as source code, no more recompiling and uploading to change config.
Sep 1, 2015 8:50 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah smoothie needs more user supportr
Sep 1, 2015 8:50 AM - Blake Benefield: hmm, mine has a marlin flash
    Sep 1, 2015 8:51 AM - WheresWaldo: Blake, then it ain't a Smoothie
    Sep 1, 2015 8:51 AM - WheresWaldo: Smoothieware doesn't run on Arduino 2560
Sep 1, 2015 8:52 AM - Blake Benefield: has the lil gear on it, doesn't have a shield board
Sep 1, 2015 8:52 AM - WheresWaldo: There is a lot of comments in the CNC world about Smoothie, maybe the support will come from there.
Sep 1, 2015 8:52 AM - Blake Benefield: probably a weird custom board from hic lol
Sep 1, 2015 8:52 AM - Blake Benefield: gogo china!
Sep 1, 2015 8:52 AM - WheresWaldo: Little gear just means Open Source Hardware

    Sep 1, 2015 8:55 AM - Blake Benefield: gotcha
Sep 1, 2015 8:55 AM - Blake Benefield: Well I don't have a shield. Everything is on the single board with solid capacitors etc.
Sep 1, 2015 8:58 AM - WheresWaldo: Lots of things don't use an actual RAMPS board as they are built in, like RAMBO, Ultimaker, RUMBA, etc
    Sep 1, 2015 8:59 AM - WheresWaldo: Just for future reference: http://reprap.org/wiki/Comparison_of_Electronics
    Sep 1, 2015 9:00 AM - Mike Glass: Morning.
Sep 1, 2015 9:02 AM - Mike Kelly: sup mg
Sep 1, 2015 9:03 AM - Mike Kelly: blake i forget the name of them but they're just some RAMPS 1.4 and integrated arduino
Sep 1, 2015 9:03 AM - Mike Kelly: they're popular in the prusa i3 clone world
Sep 1, 2015 9:03 AM - Blake Benefield: my board looks almost exactly like this. It just has the little gear, thus the smoothie assumption
Sep 1, 2015 9:04 AM - Blake Benefield: since the gear means open source and isn't a logo, then tada
Sep 1, 2015 9:05 AM - Mike Glass: not much MK, just rotting away here.
Sep 1, 2015 9:06 AM - Blake Benefield: learn something new!
Sep 1, 2015 9:06 AM - Mike Glass: trying to decide what to make next, I want to build an Epic project.
Sep 1, 2015 9:07 AM - Blake Benefield: you haven't finished the chair yet
Sep 1, 2015 9:07 AM - Blake Benefield: finish that epic project before moving to another
Sep 1, 2015 9:10 AM - Mike Glass: not talking about 3d printing
Sep 1, 2015 9:10 AM - Mike Glass: still printing those.
Sep 1, 2015 9:10 AM - Blake Benefield: im printing that crown... 20 pieces is as epic as i'm willing to attempt atm
Sep 1, 2015 9:11 AM - Blake Benefield: build an 8' tall delta
Sep 1, 2015 9:12 AM - Mike Glass: not interested in printers ATM
    Sep 1, 2015 9:12 AM - Blake Benefield: CNC?
Sep 1, 2015 9:13 AM - Blake Benefield: could always install your own bowling lane
Sep 1, 2015 9:14 AM - Blake Benefield: Build an elevator
Sep 1, 2015 9:14 AM - Blake Benefield: one of those rediculous tree houses
    Sep 1, 2015 9:14 AM - Mike Kelly: blake/mike I want to make a circle with 1/4" diameter steel
Sep 1, 2015 9:15 AM - Bigc: Good morning Gents
Sep 1, 2015 9:15 AM - Mike Kelly: the center diameter should be 11-1/8"
    Sep 1, 2015 9:15 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm thinking i'll form it around a 10" pipe (10.75"OD)
Sep 1, 2015 9:15 AM - Mike Kelly: then expand it a bit
Sep 1, 2015 9:16 AM - Mike Kelly: should i leave a straight section on either side of the bend to give something to hold onto
Sep 1, 2015 9:16 AM - Mike Kelly: or how would i go about forming that
Sep 1, 2015 9:16 AM - Mike Kelly: i kinda though about just chucking it on the lathe
Sep 1, 2015 9:17 AM - Mike Glass: haha dont have a tree for a tree house.
Sep 1, 2015 9:18 AM - Mike Glass: what are you trying to do MK
    Sep 1, 2015 9:18 AM - Mike Kelly: plant a tree
Sep 1, 2015 9:18 AM - Blake Benefield: MK, what are we making it out of? flat bar? round stock etc?
Sep 1, 2015 9:18 AM - Mike Glass: We planted over 70 trees last year
Sep 1, 2015 9:18 AM - Mike Kelly: round stock
Sep 1, 2015 9:18 AM - Blake Benefield: how much tolerance do we have?
Sep 1, 2015 9:18 AM - Mike Kelly: pretty flexible on tolerance
    Sep 1, 2015 9:19 AM - Blake Benefield: ok
Sep 1, 2015 9:19 AM - Blake Benefield: how would you expand it?
Sep 1, 2015 9:19 AM - Mike Glass: heat it and beat it
Sep 1, 2015 9:19 AM - Mike Kelly: http://i.imgur.com/1r4YDtl.jpg want to make this 4" taller
    Sep 1, 2015 9:19 AM - Blake Benefield: have a floor/cone mandrel that big?
    Sep 1, 2015 9:20 AM - Mike Kelly: hmm no i don't think so
Sep 1, 2015 9:20 AM - Mike Kelly: but we got 10" pipe
Sep 1, 2015 9:20 AM - Blake Benefield: OH... hell no need for all that
Sep 1, 2015 9:20 AM - Blake Benefield: just use a conduit bender
Sep 1, 2015 9:21 AM - Mike Kelly: hmm but will that get it circular enough?
Sep 1, 2015 9:21 AM - Blake Benefield: will if you take your time
Sep 1, 2015 9:21 AM - Blake Benefield: practive first
Sep 1, 2015 9:22 AM - Blake Benefield: you can use plywood and make a jig as well using bolts
    Sep 1, 2015 9:23 AM - Mike Kelly: hm
Sep 1, 2015 9:23 AM - Blake Benefield: you can use the pipe without issue too
    Sep 1, 2015 9:24 AM - Blake Benefield: you have a welder?
Sep 1, 2015 9:24 AM - Mike Kelly: yes i've got a whole machine shop
Sep 1, 2015 9:24 AM - Blake Benefield: basically you want to make a bending jig to fit the project
Sep 1, 2015 9:25 AM - Blake Benefield: if the project already has the size ring you need you can use it to make the jig, or you can use a plate to do it
Sep 1, 2015 9:26 AM - Blake Benefield: do they have a bender in the shop MK?
    Sep 1, 2015 9:26 AM - Mike Kelly: nope
Sep 1, 2015 9:27 AM - Mike Kelly: well actually
Sep 1, 2015 9:27 AM - Mike Kelly: we might
Sep 1, 2015 9:27 AM - Mike Kelly: i know we had one for tube bending at some point
Sep 1, 2015 9:27 AM - Blake Benefield: yeah its the same tool, just pick the size die you need and run it through
Sep 1, 2015 9:28 AM - Mike Kelly: i'll ask my machinist here in a bit, he might have some tricks
    Sep 1, 2015 9:28 AM - Blake Benefield: yep
Sep 1, 2015 9:29 AM - Blake Benefield: back to work with me.. bbl
    Sep 1, 2015 9:29 AM - Mike Kelly: later
Sep 1, 2015 9:30 AM - jbigler1986: going to adjust the voltage tonight MK
    Sep 1, 2015 9:30 AM - Mike Kelly: nice
Sep 1, 2015 9:30 AM - Mike Kelly: did you ever get any more symptoms?
Sep 1, 2015 9:31 AM - jbigler1986: it's like when it gets a little pressure build up it can't extrude
Sep 1, 2015 9:32 AM - jbigler1986: so maybe upping the voltage a little will give it the power it needs. hopefully anyways
Sep 1, 2015 9:36 AM - Mike Kelly: but is the motor spinning when it can't extrude or does it stall
    Sep 1, 2015 9:37 AM - jbigler1986: it makes a clicking noise. so pretty sure it's stalling
Sep 1, 2015 9:38 AM - jbigler1986: then i have to raise the nozzle, remove filament, cut it, reinsert, then i can extrude with no issues until it starts the first layer
Sep 1, 2015 9:38 AM - Mike Kelly: clicking would be stalling, does it grind?
    Sep 1, 2015 9:39 AM - jbigler1986: nope
Sep 1, 2015 9:40 AM - jbigler1986: i guess i should have looked close at the drive gear
Sep 1, 2015 9:41 AM - jbigler1986: i never really got to test it after installing new steppers drivers and adjusting the pot
Sep 1, 2015 9:42 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah probably needs more current sounds like
    Sep 1, 2015 9:43 AM - jbigler1986: i can't believe nothing was broke
    Sep 1, 2015 9:44 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah that's pretty lucky
    Sep 1, 2015 9:45 AM - jbigler1986: i think they were cautious
Sep 1, 2015 9:45 AM - jbigler1986: they knew the 3d printer gods would not have been happy
    Sep 1, 2015 9:47 AM - Mike Kelly: heh
Sep 1, 2015 9:49 AM - Mike Kelly: i wish i knew someone who was good at organic modeling
    Sep 1, 2015 9:52 AM - jbigler1986: walter
    Sep 1, 2015 9:52 AM - Mike Kelly: he doesn't do organic
Sep 1, 2015 9:52 AM - Mike Kelly: i wonder if loubie might be willing to help...
    Sep 1, 2015 9:52 AM - jbigler1986: i bet he could
    Sep 1, 2015 9:53 AM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
    Sep 1, 2015 9:53 AM - jbigler1986: looking good so far
    Sep 1, 2015 9:53 AM - Mike Kelly: exciting
Sep 1, 2015 9:53 AM - Mike Kelly: are you going topless?
    Sep 1, 2015 9:53 AM - jbigler1986: i plan on it and building a wooden case
    Sep 1, 2015 9:54 AM - Mike Kelly: sweet
    Sep 1, 2015 9:54 AM - Mike Glass: isnt loubie a gal?
Sep 1, 2015 9:54 AM - jbigler1986: since i have the tools for that now

Sep 1, 2015 9:56 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah loubie is a gal indeed
Sep 1, 2015 9:57 AM - Mike Kelly: MG have you considered putting your legs on locking slides for easily adjusting the cutting area
Sep 1, 2015 10:07 AM - Mike Glass: no, because its pretty much just a one time adjustment and your done.
Sep 1, 2015 10:07 AM - Mike Glass: now for his feet that have the hole through them that would be a good Idea.
Sep 1, 2015 10:09 AM - Mike Kelly: i just worry that a 2'x2' cutting area would be hard to do metal on
Sep 1, 2015 10:10 AM - Mike Glass: oh not the cutting area pertaining to Z. gotcha
Sep 1, 2015 10:15 AM - Mike Glass: well with the feet adjusters might be kinda tough, but I do have two positions that I can use on my table. need to cut out the sac board I guess first.
Sep 1, 2015 10:15 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah maybe that's what i'd do, just drill a few position holes
Sep 1, 2015 10:16 AM - Mike Kelly: it would still be a 36" span but at least one base would be shorter
Sep 1, 2015 10:16 AM - Mike Kelly: maybe come up with some intermediary clamps that secure down with the vacuum table
Sep 1, 2015 10:17 AM - Mike Glass: im not sure I will use mine for metal really.
Sep 1, 2015 10:18 AM - Mike Kelly: i still think it would be fun to use the MPCNC to make something i can mill stainless on
    Sep 1, 2015 10:20 AM - Mike Kelly: completion date: 2020
Sep 1, 2015 10:20 AM - Mike Glass: not bad
Sep 1, 2015 10:20 AM - Mike Kelly: i still laugh that you thought i could finish this before months end
Sep 1, 2015 10:21 AM - Mike Glass: yea your to busy doing all these events on the weekend, eating dinner, sleeping 14 hours.. geez
Sep 1, 2015 10:21 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah this is the first free weekend in a while
Sep 1, 2015 10:22 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm gonna start designing the table
    Sep 1, 2015 10:22 AM - Mike Kelly: have you bought/made a drag knife?
Sep 1, 2015 10:22 AM - Mike Glass: so if you dont sleep and eat dinner you should be able to finish it this weekend..lol
Sep 1, 2015 10:22 AM - Mike Glass: yea I have one with a bunch of blades.
Sep 1, 2015 10:23 AM - Mike Glass: need a better way to attach so I dont have to remove my router mount
Sep 1, 2015 10:23 AM - Mike Kelly: that's why i like the donek knife, chucks into the router
Sep 1, 2015 10:24 AM - Mike Glass: thats an idea, it should fit there with an adaptor
Sep 1, 2015 10:25 AM - Mike Kelly: just tryin to find something affordable
    Sep 1, 2015 10:25 AM - donhuevo: boys...
Sep 1, 2015 10:25 AM - Mike Kelly: howdy don
Sep 1, 2015 10:25 AM - donhuevo: first of the month blows
Sep 1, 2015 10:25 AM - Mike Glass: yo don
    Sep 1, 2015 10:26 AM - donhuevo: mike1, mike2
Sep 1, 2015 10:26 AM - Mike Kelly: for a vacuum table should i go with perf holes or the groove style
Sep 1, 2015 10:26 AM - donhuevo: old air hockey table and reverse the airflow
Sep 1, 2015 10:27 AM - Mike Kelly: i've got some MDF i was gonna use
Sep 1, 2015 10:29 AM - Mike Kelly: i do like this style, and sealing the vacuum seems easier
Sep 1, 2015 10:29 AM - Mike Glass: I like the groove style then you can use the rope sealers and get more control.
    Sep 1, 2015 10:29 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i think i'll do that
Sep 1, 2015 10:30 AM - Mike Kelly: think MDF is good or should i invest in some HDF like he uses
Sep 1, 2015 10:31 AM - Mike Glass: never used HDF
Sep 1, 2015 10:31 AM - Mike Glass: seems nice though
Sep 1, 2015 10:32 AM - Mike Glass: mdf with a coating on is probably just the same
Sep 1, 2015 10:36 AM - Mike Glass: Nobody even carries it around here, bass turds.
Sep 1, 2015 10:37 AM - Mike Kelly: lame sauce
Sep 1, 2015 10:38 AM - Mike Glass: Looks like 4 axis time.
Sep 1, 2015 10:38 AM - daniel871: Only bright side for today is MGS5 comes in.
    Sep 1, 2015 10:38 AM - daniel871: Which is kind of sad.
    Sep 1, 2015 10:39 AM - Mike Kelly: oh?
Sep 1, 2015 10:41 AM - Mike Kelly: MG is there another name for the rope sealers, i assume it's just a 1/4" channel
Sep 1, 2015 10:42 AM - Mike Glass: I have not found that yet
    Sep 1, 2015 10:43 AM - Mike Kelly: crap
Sep 1, 2015 10:44 AM - donhuevo: kinda looked a little like this stuff to me... http://www.acehardware.com/product/...446&KPID=1759885&kpid=1759885&pla=pla_1759885
Sep 1, 2015 10:45 AM - donhuevo: either that or any 1/4od tubing
    Sep 1, 2015 10:45 AM - Mike Glass: http://allstaradhesives.com/cart/category/onboard/P20
Sep 1, 2015 10:45 AM - Mike Glass: that stuff is too stiff don
Sep 1, 2015 10:45 AM - donhuevo: she would never say that
Sep 1, 2015 10:46 AM - donhuevo: screen spline can turn a pretty sharp 90
Sep 1, 2015 10:46 AM - Mike Kelly: looks like you want your channel to be a bit smaller than your gasket OD
    Sep 1, 2015 10:47 AM - jbigler1986: welcome don
    Sep 1, 2015 10:47 AM - donhuevo: thanks jb
    Sep 1, 2015 10:47 AM - Mike Kelly: i think i'll do a 1/4" channel because i have that bit size
Sep 1, 2015 10:47 AM - jbigler1986: got the carriage printing right now
    Sep 1, 2015 10:48 AM - donhuevo: sweet!
    Sep 1, 2015 10:48 AM - Mike Glass: Im gonna do a 3/8 I think
    Sep 1, 2015 10:48 AM - donhuevo: I'm thinking 6mm
    Sep 1, 2015 10:48 AM - Mike Glass: haha not 3/16
    Sep 1, 2015 10:49 AM - Mike Glass: 3/16 it will be
Sep 1, 2015 10:49 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah maybe i should do 3/16" and just use the 1/8" bit
    Sep 1, 2015 10:50 AM - jbigler1986: i don't understand this language
Sep 1, 2015 10:52 AM - jbigler1986: had to order some more lm8uu bearing this morning
    Sep 1, 2015 10:52 AM - Mike Glass: Igus?
Sep 1, 2015 10:53 AM - jbigler1986: nah. i wanted them tonight for the carriage. so just regular ones
    Sep 1, 2015 10:54 AM - Mike Kelly: heh
Sep 1, 2015 10:54 AM - donhuevo: mine showed up yesterday but I probably won't play with them til the weekend
    Sep 1, 2015 10:55 AM - jbigler1986: well i don't have shit else to do when i get home
Sep 1, 2015 10:56 AM - Mike Kelly: surprising that solidworks doesn't have MDF as a stock material
Sep 1, 2015 10:57 AM - jbigler1986: how do you add stock material
Sep 1, 2015 10:57 AM - Mike Kelly: you can make custom materials, but they won't show up in the default list
Sep 1, 2015 10:57 AM - Mike Kelly: i think i'll make it with PVC plumbing and not cut the vacuum channels into the board
Sep 1, 2015 11:00 AM - donhuevo: thepiratebay is back and to celebrate, I grabbed autocad 2016
    Sep 1, 2015 11:00 AM - daniel871: Trap sprung.
    Sep 1, 2015 11:00 AM - jbigler1986: it's been back
Sep 1, 2015 11:01 AM - donhuevo: and then I gnawed off my own foot
Sep 1, 2015 11:01 AM - Mike Kelly: has it ever been gone
Sep 1, 2015 11:01 AM - Mike Kelly: that thing is impossible to kill
Sep 1, 2015 11:01 AM - donhuevo: it was down the other day
    Sep 1, 2015 11:01 AM - jbigler1986: it was for a few months
Sep 1, 2015 11:02 AM - jbigler1986: although they gave out the files for people to host their own which lots of people did
Sep 1, 2015 11:02 AM - jbigler1986: this robo at work sounds like shit
Sep 1, 2015 11:03 AM - donhuevo: have you tweaked the acceleration yet?
    Sep 1, 2015 11:03 AM - daniel871: Probably have bad LM8UU bearings like I did at first.
Sep 1, 2015 11:03 AM - daniel871: Or is it the steppers being really loud?
    Sep 1, 2015 11:04 AM - donhuevo: or fans?
    Sep 1, 2015 11:04 AM - daniel871: It's so loud he can't hear the chat notification beep.
    Sep 1, 2015 11:04 AM - donhuevo: haha
    Sep 1, 2015 11:04 AM - jbigler1986: it is loud as hell
    Sep 1, 2015 11:04 AM - donhuevo: what?
    Sep 1, 2015 11:04 AM - jbigler1986: huh!
    Sep 1, 2015 11:05 AM - daniel871: Whose footprints are these?!
Sep 1, 2015 11:07 AM - Mike Kelly: chat notifications?
Sep 1, 2015 11:08 AM - daniel871: Chrome beeps if I have the sound on in the Shoutbox and a new message comes up while another application is active instead of Chrome.
Sep 1, 2015 11:09 AM - Mike Kelly: did you enable it?

Sep 1, 2015 11:10 AM - Mike Glass: not as anoying as that.
Sep 1, 2015 11:11 AM - jbigler1986: MK did you ever finish the engine?
Sep 1, 2015 11:12 AM - Mike Kelly: sorta, i put it together entirely
Sep 1, 2015 11:12 AM - Mike Kelly: but i took it apart to try and make it move smoother
Sep 1, 2015 11:12 AM - Mike Glass: then he burned it
    Sep 1, 2015 11:12 AM - jbigler1986: napalm?
Sep 1, 2015 11:13 AM - Mike Kelly: still needs a bit more sanding
Sep 1, 2015 11:14 AM - Mike Kelly: i'd like for the pistons to just drop down into the block
    Sep 1, 2015 11:14 AM - Mike Kelly: still a little stiction
Sep 1, 2015 11:14 AM - Mike Kelly: i should throw it on the mill and bore it out
Sep 1, 2015 11:15 AM - Mike Kelly: hmm actually i'm gonna go grab a 1-1/4" bit and try
    Sep 1, 2015 11:17 AM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
    Sep 1, 2015 11:17 AM - jbigler1986: lol
Sep 1, 2015 11:24 AM - donhuevo: you forgot to add a couple quarts of oil to that engine is my guess
Sep 1, 2015 11:25 AM - PeterkSharma: Out of the house
    Sep 1, 2015 11:25 AM - PeterkSharma: Mornings all
    Sep 1, 2015 11:25 AM - jbigler1986: is it 5 yet?
Sep 1, 2015 11:26 AM - jbigler1986: trying a different route home today so i can actually leave at 5
Sep 1, 2015 11:26 AM - Mike Kelly: oh yeah that's significantly nicer
Sep 1, 2015 11:27 AM - Mike Kelly: now i can drop the piston straight through
    Sep 1, 2015 11:28 AM - jbigler1986: :D
Sep 1, 2015 11:29 AM - Mike Glass: did you add a quart
Sep 1, 2015 11:29 AM - Mike Glass: Hey Peter
    Sep 1, 2015 11:29 AM - jbigler1986: fuck
    Sep 1, 2015 11:30 AM - jbigler1986: hand sanitizer in a cut i wasn't aware of
Sep 1, 2015 11:30 AM - Mike Glass: man up
Sep 1, 2015 11:31 AM - jbigler1986: it was like taking a drink of a drink that you thought was something else
Sep 1, 2015 11:31 AM - Mike Glass: your not suppose to drink it!
    Sep 1, 2015 11:32 AM - jbigler1986: ha

Sep 1, 2015 11:44 AM - Mike Glass: not even close
    Sep 1, 2015 11:44 AM - jbigler1986: glass printer outside?
Sep 1, 2015 11:46 AM - daniel871: It's purely experimental Peter. Probably result in a bunch of lawsuits if it was available to the same market the Robo is available to.
Sep 1, 2015 11:46 AM - daniel871: You're free to design and build your own though.
    Sep 1, 2015 11:47 AM - daniel871: :p
Sep 1, 2015 11:47 AM - daniel871: He's talking about the glass printer like what MIT did earlier this year that we were talking about here some time yesterday JB.
    Sep 1, 2015 11:48 AM - jbigler1986: oh ok.
Sep 1, 2015 11:48 AM - Mike Glass: just print t-glase with 1.2 nozzle and shine orange lights when printing, you will get the same effect.
    Sep 1, 2015 11:49 AM - daniel871: :p
Sep 1, 2015 11:51 AM - PeterkSharma: What about orange lights?
    Sep 1, 2015 11:51 AM - PeterkSharma: Not following
    Sep 1, 2015 11:54 AM - jbigler1986: they are just messing around
Sep 1, 2015 11:54 AM - Mike Glass: lights that are orange
    Sep 1, 2015 11:55 AM - jbigler1986: so it looks like it's insanely hot
    Sep 1, 2015 11:55 AM - PeterkSharma: Lol
    Sep 1, 2015 11:56 AM - daniel871: Orange LEDs.
    Sep 1, 2015 11:56 AM - PeterkSharma: I should make a satire kickstarter
Sep 1, 2015 11:57 AM - jbigler1986: you want it focused on the material though. not the whole printer
Sep 1, 2015 11:58 AM - daniel871: I guess what I'll do while waiting on the Rambo and replacement lead screws I'll dismantle the Robo to the framework and clean up the wires that run from the carriage thru to where the Rambo will go.
Sep 1, 2015 11:59 AM - Mike Glass: im going completely wireless on my new design.
Sep 1, 2015 12:00 PM - daniel871: And hope like hell the replacement screws aren't bent as well.
Sep 1, 2015 12:01 PM - jbigler1986: As soon i get the dual going i'm going to build an enclosure and remove the case
Sep 1, 2015 12:01 PM - Mike Glass: wooden vise works wonders
    Sep 1, 2015 12:02 PM - jbigler1986: ?
Sep 1, 2015 12:02 PM - Mike Glass: Dont make it out of wood JB
    Sep 1, 2015 12:03 PM - jbigler1986: why
Sep 1, 2015 12:03 PM - Mike Glass: You dont know bout the properties of wood?
Sep 1, 2015 12:04 PM - Bigc: No make it out Sheetrock and drywall
    Sep 1, 2015 12:04 PM - jbigler1986: flammable?
Sep 1, 2015 12:04 PM - Mike Glass: anything is flammable
Sep 1, 2015 12:04 PM - jbigler1986: i could make it out of acrylic. not sure if i want to though
    Sep 1, 2015 12:06 PM - donhuevo: don't know why these aren't more popular for 3d printers... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...YHR7yPhLFUbDaI0SmPB49hoCj6rw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds
Sep 1, 2015 12:06 PM - Bigc: I am just joking i think it would fall apart the moment you try to pick it up
    Sep 1, 2015 12:06 PM - Bigc: Hey don
    Sep 1, 2015 12:06 PM - donhuevo: hey

    Sep 1, 2015 12:09 PM - donhuevo: 3?
    Sep 1, 2015 12:10 PM - jbigler1986: Harry said it

Sep 1, 2015 12:41 PM - daniel871: If nothing else, I can put the original HfnC's on and set the firmware back up for the steps those used and try to limp along for a while.
Sep 1, 2015 12:42 PM - daniel871: Those have been just standing upright in a cabinet since I took them out.
Sep 1, 2015 12:43 PM - Bigc: is It possible to take the linner bearings out of the y axis and replace them with new ones
    Sep 1, 2015 12:43 PM - Mike Kelly: yes
Sep 1, 2015 12:45 PM - daniel871: Kind of wish the bottom of the pillow block was secured separately from the top to make that easier though.
Sep 1, 2015 12:45 PM - Mike Kelly: still would need to tear down the whole Y brackets
Sep 1, 2015 12:45 PM - daniel871: Hey, MK, did you post that modified smooth rod bracket that also went around the leadscrews on Thingiverse?
    Sep 1, 2015 12:46 PM - jbigler1986: pretty sure he did

    Sep 1, 2015 12:48 PM - Mike Kelly: i was confused
Sep 1, 2015 12:50 PM - Bigc: Every time the bed moves from one side to the other i hear a creaking or crunching noise
    Sep 1, 2015 12:52 PM - jbigler1986: it's the wire sleeving
Sep 1, 2015 12:52 PM - jbigler1986: it gets caught on the zip tie
Sep 1, 2015 12:52 PM - Mike Kelly: let's play a game called decode random mother in law text message meanings: "We have bugs webs rust in grass"
Sep 1, 2015 12:52 PM - jbigler1986: at the top of the case
Sep 1, 2015 12:52 PM - Mike Kelly: he might have an older model without the ribbon cable for the Y axis
    Sep 1, 2015 12:53 PM - jbigler1986: i bet it's the cable sleeving
Sep 1, 2015 12:54 PM - Bigc: It is one of the older models
    Sep 1, 2015 12:54 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah
Sep 1, 2015 12:54 PM - Mike Kelly: print the cable chain and be done with that
Sep 1, 2015 12:54 PM - jbigler1986: the sleeving grooves get caught on the zip tie
    Sep 1, 2015 12:55 PM - jbigler1986: very dumb setup
Sep 1, 2015 12:55 PM - Bigc: Well time to order more ABS then
Sep 1, 2015 12:56 PM - jbigler1986: you can move the carriage to the far left and all the way down. Then pull the amount of cable you need through the zip tie, Then snug the zip tie. Problem solved
Sep 1, 2015 12:57 PM - Mike Kelly: Jb he said y axis not x
    Sep 1, 2015 12:58 PM - jbigler1986: oh. nevermind
Sep 1, 2015 12:58 PM - jbigler1986: wait. he said when the bed moves from one side to the other
Sep 1, 2015 12:59 PM - Mike Kelly: Yeah that is confusing
Sep 1, 2015 12:59 PM - Bigc: From front to back my bad
Sep 1, 2015 12:59 PM - daniel871: All this abbreviating people to two letters gets confusing.

Sep 1, 2015 1:08 PM - jbigler1986: gonna have to use loc tite on the screw. it's not as tight as i would like
Sep 1, 2015 1:12 PM - daniel871: Looks a little stringier than your prints used to look.
Sep 1, 2015 1:12 PM - jbigler1986: this is the stock robo at work
Sep 1, 2015 1:14 PM - jbigler1986: not nearly as pretty as my robo
    Sep 1, 2015 1:15 PM - jbigler1986: I need a name for my robo
    Sep 1, 2015 1:15 PM - daniel871: Ah.
Sep 1, 2015 1:17 PM - Mike Kelly: i'd personally take out the grills and have it be more open, less air restriction is always better
Sep 1, 2015 1:17 PM - jbigler1986: i will probably end up breaking them all anyways
Sep 1, 2015 1:26 PM - Mike Kelly: is that the starter filament or hatchbox
    Sep 1, 2015 1:26 PM - jbigler1986: justpla

    Sep 1, 2015 1:29 PM - jbigler1986: how does it work
Sep 1, 2015 1:31 PM - danzca6: JB, you could print this http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:990383 and forget the zip tie for top cable bundle
Sep 1, 2015 1:32 PM - jbigler1986: i'm good on mine. My one at work i'm not going to mess with
Sep 1, 2015 1:33 PM - Mike Kelly: well the heater is a ceramic type, how it measures the temperature is a good question
Sep 1, 2015 1:41 PM - Mike Glass: That is the Tiko hot end. nice
Sep 1, 2015 1:42 PM - daniel871: Hey yeah, when is the Tiko supposed to actually start shipping, again?
    Sep 1, 2015 1:44 PM - jbigler1986: ask MK. He works there
Sep 1, 2015 1:44 PM - daniel871: LOL, they're associating with an obvious scam kickstarter now.
    Sep 1, 2015 1:44 PM - jbigler1986: who
    Sep 1, 2015 1:44 PM - daniel871: Plug Solar

    Sep 1, 2015 1:48 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah
    Sep 1, 2015 1:48 PM - jbigler1986: Very interesting
Sep 1, 2015 1:48 PM - Mike Kelly: still want to know how he measures temp

Sep 1, 2015 1:54 PM - jbigler1986: it has the same type of heater
    Sep 1, 2015 1:54 PM - Mike Kelly: yup
Sep 1, 2015 1:54 PM - Mike Glass: thats what the thread was saying
Sep 1, 2015 1:54 PM - Mike Kelly: does it use 3mm filament?
Sep 1, 2015 1:54 PM - Mike Glass: must of found these on some chinese site
Sep 1, 2015 1:55 PM - Mike Glass: From reading some of the M3D troubleshooting articles, it looks like they calibrate heater power to nozzle temp at the factory, and do not actually sense nozzle temp in realtime
Sep 1, 2015 1:57 PM - Mike Kelly: i was kinda wondering about that
Sep 1, 2015 1:57 PM - Mike Kelly: that's not a good method unless you restrict any variability in flow rate

Sep 1, 2015 1:58 PM - Mike Glass: they are probably made for heat shrink guns or something originally.
Sep 1, 2015 1:58 PM - Mike Glass: or soldering stations
    Sep 1, 2015 1:59 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah
Sep 1, 2015 1:59 PM - Mike Kelly: akin to what i pulled out of a glue gun
Sep 1, 2015 2:00 PM - Knut Stumberg: when it gets so hot enviornment temparature does not have the same impact any more
Sep 1, 2015 2:00 PM - Printed Solid: wow! that is an awful method!
Sep 1, 2015 2:02 PM - Printed Solid: They are dangerously close to my area. I'll have to carefully watch resumes that come in to make sure to filter out any potential equipment designers from M3D :)
Sep 1, 2015 2:03 PM - Printed Solid: Although I have been seeing some good prints off of that printer.
Sep 1, 2015 2:04 PM - Mike Glass: you should for how slow it prints
Sep 1, 2015 2:08 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah i could make a potato print that good if i printed at tiko speeds
Sep 1, 2015 2:10 PM - Printed Solid: mike, you're a good designer and all, but I really don't think you can get a potato to print.
    Sep 1, 2015 2:11 PM - daniel871: Sounds like a challenge.
    Sep 1, 2015 2:11 PM - daniel871: Also comedy kickstarter idea.
    Sep 1, 2015 2:11 PM - Printed Solid: it does, doesn't it.
Sep 1, 2015 2:11 PM - Printed Solid: to both!
Sep 1, 2015 2:11 PM - Printed Solid: The 'potato that prints faster than the tiko' campaign sounds like it has to happen!
Sep 1, 2015 2:13 PM - Mike Kelly: ok i might need a couple potatoes
    Sep 1, 2015 2:14 PM - daniel871: Wired in sequence or parallel?
Sep 1, 2015 2:15 PM - Mike Glass: it could be self powered, with the potatoe clock engine
Sep 1, 2015 2:15 PM - Mike Kelly: that goes back to my question as to if you could 3d print 95% of a printer
Sep 1, 2015 2:15 PM - Mike Kelly: only components would be steppers, extruder gear, and hot end
Sep 1, 2015 2:16 PM - Printed Solid: I don't know, but this potato thing is ON, right? has to happen.
Sep 1, 2015 2:17 PM - daniel871: If CTC China (knockoff cnc manufacturer) can get away with scamming 30k from kickstarter for 3d printer design, so can you.
Sep 1, 2015 2:18 PM - Printed Solid: I mean, maybe we can make it legitimate in some way. The humor of it is to much to pass on.
Sep 1, 2015 2:19 PM - daniel871: Here's hoping the Rambo I have coming will come in undamaged and I can resurrect the robo with it.
Sep 1, 2015 2:20 PM - Mike Kelly: hope so too
Sep 1, 2015 2:20 PM - Mike Kelly: be sure to measure the v_out from your PSU before then
Sep 1, 2015 2:25 PM - daniel871: I will. Thinking about replacing it with another one anyway since the only thing Robo when I'm done will be the framework and axis steppers.
Sep 1, 2015 2:27 PM - Bigc: Hey printed i just ordered a few hot-ends from you can you add some potato MK might have something
Sep 1, 2015 2:35 PM - Patrick Elliott: Have they started shipping the Lead screw kits?
Sep 1, 2015 2:37 PM - Bigc: Not to my Knowledge I have yet to receive a email with the tracking number
    Sep 1, 2015 2:37 PM - Bill Monroe: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjg9itug8Vcc4fnMZKyWZPA/live
    Sep 1, 2015 2:37 PM - daniel871: No confirmation yet.
Sep 1, 2015 2:39 PM - daniel871: Leadscrew kits will ship sometime between today and December 1st. :p
    Sep 1, 2015 2:39 PM - daniel871: Maybe.
Sep 1, 2015 2:40 PM - Bigc: Only if customs clears it
    Sep 1, 2015 2:41 PM - Mike Kelly: it'll ship tomorrow*
    Sep 1, 2015 2:41 PM - Bigc: LOL
    Sep 1, 2015 2:48 PM - Sonny's Robo3D: Let's hope tomorrow is only a day away ;-0
    Sep 1, 2015 2:48 PM - Sonny's Robo3D: the ribbing driving me looney
Sep 1, 2015 2:50 PM - Mike Kelly: right? only 2 weeks behind their original antipated date at this point
Sep 1, 2015 2:50 PM - Sonny's Robo3D: I do find the ribbing seems to be worse on cheaper filament - is that the case for everyone also?
Sep 1, 2015 2:52 PM - Bigc: I find that it worse with pla
    Sep 1, 2015 2:53 PM - Bigc: it is
Sep 1, 2015 2:53 PM - PeterkSharma: Mike, you should start making some lead screw with that cnc
Sep 1, 2015 2:53 PM - Mike Kelly: not the right kind of CNC
Sep 1, 2015 2:53 PM - Mike Kelly: plus you don't need a cnc for that, just a lathe
Sep 1, 2015 3:01 PM - Mike Kelly: ugh how is it only 4
    Sep 1, 2015 3:13 PM - daniel871: 6 here.

Sep 1, 2015 3:20 PM - Bigc: Looks like another project when i get the time http://www.vicious1.com/
Sep 1, 2015 3:21 PM - Mike Glass: Been there done that. http://www.thingiverse.com/make:134212
Sep 1, 2015 3:22 PM - Bigc: How did it turn out Good Bad other
    Sep 1, 2015 3:22 PM - Bigc: ?
Sep 1, 2015 3:27 PM - Mike Kelly: hes probably driving now, but he likes it and i'm currently building one
Sep 1, 2015 3:40 PM - Kevin Nguyen: does this actually fit the robo3d hexagon?? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...ue&ref_=ox_sc_sfl_title_2&smid=A3MUS5JH6XWVRS
Sep 1, 2015 3:43 PM - Printed Solid: it does. I sell the same part for $10 less.
Sep 1, 2015 3:44 PM - Kevin Nguyen: oh nice. i wasnt thinking of getting it on amazon. just saw it in my suggested
    Sep 1, 2015 3:44 PM - Printed Solid: http://printedsolid.com/collections/accessories-and-upgrades/products/e3d-v6-replacement-nozzle
Sep 1, 2015 3:45 PM - Mike Kelly: matterhackers now branding E3D nozzles as their own? cool guy
Sep 1, 2015 3:45 PM - Printed Solid: sounds like it.
Sep 1, 2015 3:45 PM - Kevin Nguyen: hmm i dont see it on your site
    Sep 1, 2015 3:46 PM - Printed Solid: http://printedsolid.com/collections.../e3d-v6-replacement-nozzle?variant=4031237891
    Sep 1, 2015 3:47 PM - Kevin Nguyen: oh i see ty
Sep 1, 2015 3:48 PM - Printed Solid: actually... now that I look. It may not be the same. Matterhackers sells the stainless nozzles and also plated nozzles. The amazon link is for the plated ones.
Sep 1, 2015 3:49 PM - Printed Solid: I do hate how they list that bullshit mark down price.
Sep 1, 2015 3:50 PM - Printed Solid: Should I start listing all my products as being on sale for regular price too?
Sep 1, 2015 3:50 PM - Mike Kelly: pretty sure you have to do that to sell on amazon
Sep 1, 2015 3:50 PM - Kevin Nguyen: yeah that thing always messes with me. i once saw filament saying it was originally 300$ lol
Sep 1, 2015 3:50 PM - Mike Kelly: ever look at what the MSRP of the r3d is?
Sep 1, 2015 3:56 PM - bamhm182: So I'm pretty sure my therm is going out
Sep 1, 2015 3:57 PM - bamhm182: Between yesterday and the failed print I had due to a temp fall error, it seems screwed up
    Sep 1, 2015 3:57 PM - bamhm182: Ordered a E3D v6 from PrintedSolid

Sep 1, 2015 4:05 PM - Printed Solid: what were you using before? Weren't you on a chimera or something?
Sep 1, 2015 4:05 PM - Mike Kelly: loose connection
Sep 1, 2015 4:05 PM - Printed Solid: what is it?
Sep 1, 2015 4:07 PM - Printed Solid: $899 for the non marked down price on the robo.
    Sep 1, 2015 4:10 PM - bamhm182: It was the stock hex
    Sep 1, 2015 4:10 PM - bamhm182: Yeah, I saw that, for the R1+Plus
Sep 1, 2015 4:11 PM - Printed Solid: didn't you buy a dual from me?
    Sep 1, 2015 4:11 PM - Mike Kelly: cause that's actually a price someone's bought a robo for
    Sep 1, 2015 4:11 PM - Printed Solid: lol.
Sep 1, 2015 4:11 PM - Mike Kelly: i don't even look at the non marked down price on amazon anymore, means absolutely nothing
Sep 1, 2015 4:13 PM - bamhm182: You were right, MK. Turns out the positive bed lead came loose
    Sep 1, 2015 4:13 PM - bamhm182: Oh well, ordered an E3D v6 yesterday anyways
Sep 1, 2015 4:13 PM - Printed Solid: And I shipped it damn it, so there's no changing your mind now!
Sep 1, 2015 4:14 PM - bamhm182: Yeah, I bought the Chimera from you. Haven't gotten it hooked up yet
Sep 1, 2015 4:14 PM - Printed Solid: ah. OK. glad to know that I'm not completely crazy.
Sep 1, 2015 4:14 PM - bamhm182: I still think the therm is going out on my hex, I just automatically attributed this failed print to it instead of looking into it further
Sep 1, 2015 4:15 PM - Printed Solid: The E3D is a lot better anyways. You won't miss it.
Sep 1, 2015 4:16 PM - bamhm182: Yeah, didn't think I would. Been thinking about upgrading for a while, but didn't have an honest reason to until now
Sep 1, 2015 4:18 PM - Printed Solid: I was in the same boat forever. A few months ago, my hex just started failing prints. Nothing seemed to make it better.
Sep 1, 2015 4:18 PM - Printed Solid: OK, I probably didn't really try very many things.
Sep 1, 2015 4:48 PM - Kevin Nguyen: lol @Printed Solid thanks for the Haribo's with my xxl screen
    Sep 1, 2015 5:03 PM - Printed Solid: (Y)

Sep 1, 2015 7:33 PM - Mike Glass: I notices a huge amount of moisture in their filament
Sep 1, 2015 7:34 PM - danzca6: Robo's filament? I wondered if the sample was just a bad supplier compared to their full line
Sep 1, 2015 7:34 PM - Mike Glass: It prints nice, but way too much moisture, causing ribbing
Sep 1, 2015 7:35 PM - danzca6: really? Maybe that is part of my problem with ribbing...I should try more with my new filament and see if it goes away
Sep 1, 2015 7:35 PM - danzca6: I bought some hatchbox on amazon to do Robbie parts
Sep 1, 2015 7:36 PM - Mike Glass: My cheap justpla prints just fine.
Sep 1, 2015 7:36 PM - Mike Glass: hatchbox is awesome also
    Sep 1, 2015 7:36 PM - danzca6: that is good news...I was taking a chance on that
Sep 1, 2015 7:37 PM - Mike Glass: Justpla is little cheaper, but hatchbox is probably the best quality for the money.
Sep 1, 2015 7:38 PM - danzca6: I'd like to try the woodfill sometime...I hear it makes your shop smell like a wood shop
Sep 1, 2015 7:38 PM - Mike Glass: I wouldnt run it in the stock robo
    Sep 1, 2015 7:39 PM - danzca6: unless it was my last print before a v6
    Sep 1, 2015 7:39 PM - Mike Kelly: just put on a .6mm nozzle
    Sep 1, 2015 7:39 PM - danzca6: lol
Sep 1, 2015 7:40 PM - Mike Glass: yea bigger nozzle is best
    Sep 1, 2015 7:40 PM - danzca6: that's cheaper than a new extruder
    Sep 1, 2015 7:40 PM - danzca6: thanks
    Sep 1, 2015 7:40 PM - Mike Kelly: sure
Sep 1, 2015 7:40 PM - Mike Kelly: people are too ready to jump to the v6 i think
Sep 1, 2015 7:40 PM - Mike Kelly: it's a great nozzle but not like leaps and bounds better
Sep 1, 2015 7:41 PM - danzca6: I have other things to spend my money on first
Sep 1, 2015 7:41 PM - danzca6: I'm just glad it is working as well as it is
    Sep 1, 2015 7:42 PM - danzca6: mine is a refurb I bought from Robo on ebay
    Sep 1, 2015 7:42 PM - Mike Kelly: heh
Sep 1, 2015 7:42 PM - Mike Glass: prolly better qc then a new one.
Sep 1, 2015 7:43 PM - Printed Solid: I've run plenty of woodfill on my stock robo, but running with a bigger nozzle is definitely easier.
    Sep 1, 2015 7:43 PM - danzca6: lol...I can only hope
Sep 1, 2015 7:43 PM - Printed Solid: yeah, you're probably better off with the refurb than the right off the boat stuff.
Sep 1, 2015 7:43 PM - danzca6: the price was too good to pass on
    Sep 1, 2015 7:44 PM - Mike Kelly: was it? :)
Sep 1, 2015 7:44 PM - Mike Glass: Jb and Blake both had the same issues with the belt clips on the Y. WTF
Sep 1, 2015 7:44 PM - Mike Kelly: they're over tightening the belt
Sep 1, 2015 7:44 PM - Printed Solid: that's the crazy irony. A well cared for used printer can often times be worth more than a new one.
Sep 1, 2015 7:44 PM - Mike Glass: on the new robo's they got
    Sep 1, 2015 7:44 PM - Printed Solid: my Y clip broke.
Sep 1, 2015 7:45 PM - Mike Kelly: they can't seem to hit that compromise between tight enough that the belt doens't skip and too tight that the brackets pop off like pogs
Sep 1, 2015 7:45 PM - Printed Solid: It had been on there since 9/14 and gave up a few months ago.
Sep 1, 2015 7:45 PM - Mike Glass: mine finally did last month
Sep 1, 2015 7:46 PM - Printed Solid: I'm pretty sure my nylon printed part will hold out a lot longer than the injection molded one that came with the printer.
Sep 1, 2015 7:46 PM - danzca6: I printed a few replacement parts last night because of all the talk of tensioners and z supports cracking
    Sep 1, 2015 7:46 PM - Mike Kelly: i'd agree with that
Sep 1, 2015 7:46 PM - Printed Solid: are z supports cracking again? I thought that had been fixed.
Sep 1, 2015 7:46 PM - Printed Solid: This printer man...
Sep 1, 2015 7:47 PM - Mike Kelly: mine are cracked
Sep 1, 2015 7:47 PM - danzca6: I have a small crack in mine, but still stiff and good to go for now
Sep 1, 2015 7:47 PM - Mike Kelly: apparently injection molding isn't as much of a draw as it would seem if you use straight ABS components...
Sep 1, 2015 7:49 PM - Printed Solid: it's probably not straight ABS... or at least not anywhere close to virgin.

Sep 1, 2015 7:49 PM - Printed Solid: Black lets you mix in a lot of crap regrind.
Sep 1, 2015 7:50 PM - Mike Kelly: i more meant without strengthener like PC or nylon
Sep 1, 2015 7:50 PM - Printed Solid: legos are pretty damn strong.
Sep 1, 2015 7:50 PM - danzca6: amen to that...step on those all the time
Sep 1, 2015 7:50 PM - Mike Kelly: i've broken my fair share
    Sep 1, 2015 7:50 PM - Bill Monroe: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjg9itug8Vcc4fnMZKyWZPA/live
Sep 1, 2015 7:51 PM - Printed Solid: how many minutes do you think those robo parts wuould last in a room full of 3 year olds?
Sep 1, 2015 7:51 PM - Mike Glass: whats with the guy that busted his carriage in half, haha
    Sep 1, 2015 7:51 PM - Printed Solid: right?
Sep 1, 2015 7:51 PM - Mike Kelly: he must have tightened the shit out of something when it wasn't aligned
Sep 1, 2015 7:52 PM - Printed Solid: I would have expected the threads to strip out first.
Sep 1, 2015 7:52 PM - Printed Solid: obviously it happened though and I don't think it was due to intentional abuse.
Sep 1, 2015 7:52 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah i don't even know, it was impressive
Sep 1, 2015 7:53 PM - danzca6: Bill, have you printed anything but Robbie parts in the last week? LOL!
Sep 1, 2015 7:53 PM - Printed Solid: I'm not printing any Robbie parts until my z upgrade replacement gets here.
    Sep 1, 2015 7:54 PM - Mike Kelly: heh
    Sep 1, 2015 7:54 PM - Mike Glass: Dec 1st I heard
Sep 1, 2015 7:54 PM - Mike Kelly: didn't know it was that hard to ship 26 sets
Sep 1, 2015 7:54 PM - Printed Solid: Then I will only do 1 and I am going to finish it until it is smooth like glass.
Sep 1, 2015 7:54 PM - danzca6: hmmm, the timing is interesting....maybe they did this contest to sell more z upgrades
Sep 1, 2015 7:54 PM - danzca6: their big enough to really test the limits of build volume
Sep 1, 2015 7:54 PM - Mike Kelly: they didn't sell very many
Sep 1, 2015 7:55 PM - Printed Solid: Mine is full build volume.
Sep 1, 2015 7:55 PM - danzca6: really? Man sounded like a lot of folks having issues
Sep 1, 2015 7:55 PM - Printed Solid: most of the people that ordered...
    Sep 1, 2015 7:55 PM - Mike Kelly: echobox
Sep 1, 2015 7:55 PM - Printed Solid: right. not many people all having the same problem can sound like a lot.
Sep 1, 2015 7:55 PM - danzca6: I kind of wish they would give 20% towards that instead of filament for doing a robbie print
Sep 1, 2015 7:56 PM - Mike Glass: almost cracked my bed tonight
Sep 1, 2015 7:57 PM - Printed Solid: meh. I'm not using any of that discount regardless.
    Sep 1, 2015 7:57 PM - Mike Kelly: ^
    Sep 1, 2015 7:57 PM - danzca6: g wonder why
    Sep 1, 2015 7:57 PM - Printed Solid: :)
    Sep 1, 2015 7:57 PM - Mike Kelly: lol
Sep 1, 2015 7:57 PM - Printed Solid: although, does anybody buy their filament from robo?
Sep 1, 2015 7:58 PM - Mike Glass: was moving the z up and hit the wrong way, it mashed in the bed and didnt stop, luckily I didnt over tighten the nut holders and they popped out.
Sep 1, 2015 7:58 PM - Printed Solid: lucky then.
    Sep 1, 2015 7:58 PM - danzca6: oh wow
Sep 1, 2015 7:58 PM - Printed Solid: do you still have flexible couplings?
Sep 1, 2015 7:58 PM - Mike Kelly: i found out that your motors will stall before your bed cracks
Sep 1, 2015 7:58 PM - Mike Kelly: granted i don't want to test that again...
Sep 1, 2015 7:59 PM - Mike Glass: it was like 3 inches difference one one side..lolo
Sep 1, 2015 7:59 PM - Printed Solid: I imagine it depends on how fast you are moving down.
Sep 1, 2015 7:59 PM - Printed Solid: The very first thing I did after putting together my printrbot simple was to crash into the bed and stretch out the flex couplings.
Sep 1, 2015 8:00 PM - Mike Glass: just normal movement from the lcd
Sep 1, 2015 8:00 PM - Printed Solid: finally replaced with a solid coupling and it is much better.
Sep 1, 2015 8:02 PM - Mike Glass: evil couplers
    Sep 1, 2015 8:04 PM - jbigler1986: finally got her printing
Sep 1, 2015 8:05 PM - jbigler1986: idler bearing was pressing against the filament and ptfe guide before fully pressing against the filament
    Sep 1, 2015 8:05 PM - Bill Monroe: <hi5>
Sep 1, 2015 8:05 PM - jbigler1986: so i need to modify the hercustruder and reprint them
    Sep 1, 2015 8:09 PM - jbigler1986: extruder revision 50
Sep 1, 2015 8:09 PM - Mike Kelly: you're catching up to me
    Sep 1, 2015 8:10 PM - jbigler1986: at least i figured out the issue
    Sep 1, 2015 8:10 PM - jbigler1986: it was driving me crazy
Sep 1, 2015 8:11 PM - Mike Kelly: definitely can relate
Sep 1, 2015 8:11 PM - jbigler1986: it's been like that the whole time i had them instlled. had no idea what the issue was
    Sep 1, 2015 8:12 PM - jbigler1986: stupid me
Sep 1, 2015 8:13 PM - jbigler1986: bitch. i have everything back for the printer except my calipers and dial gauge. wtf
Sep 1, 2015 8:14 PM - Bill Monroe: might have just got lost in the shuffle
    Sep 1, 2015 8:15 PM - jbigler1986: maybe
Sep 1, 2015 8:16 PM - jbigler1986: she can keep them and me have my kids. works for me
Sep 1, 2015 8:17 PM - jbigler1986: i should probably stop drinking this energy drink
Sep 1, 2015 8:17 PM - Bill Monroe: oh gawd
Sep 1, 2015 8:18 PM - Mike Kelly: it's only what 11:20 there? who needs sleep
    Sep 1, 2015 8:19 PM - jbigler1986: this guy does. 5 hours of it
    Sep 1, 2015 8:23 PM - jbigler1986: I need this 3 day weekend. I feel like going somewhere
    Sep 1, 2015 8:24 PM - jbigler1986: Anyone have suggestions?
Sep 1, 2015 8:24 PM - Bill Monroe: Catalina Island
Sep 1, 2015 8:24 PM - Bill Monroe: but that would be a trip for you
Sep 1, 2015 8:25 PM - Bill Monroe: and it's surely completely booked
Sep 1, 2015 8:27 PM - Bill Monroe: we're staying home and avoiding the crowds
    Sep 1, 2015 8:41 PM - jbigler1986: Hmmm.
Sep 1, 2015 8:44 PM - Bill Monroe: pretty bad when my cable bill is larger than what I paid for an apartment :)

Sep 1, 2015 at 9:01 PM - Mike Kelly: [IMG] not half bad
Sep 1, 2015 at 9:03 PM - Mike Kelly: [IMG]
Sep 1, 2015 at 9:03 PM - Blake Benefield: figured out the problem with the peeling
Sep 1, 2015 at 9:04 PM - Blake Benefield: autolevel is setting the nozzle too high
Sep 1, 2015 at 9:04 PM - Blake Benefield: Looks good MK
Sep 1, 2015 at 9:11 PM - Mike Kelly: Pretty sure that's what I told you Blake :)
Sep 1, 2015 at 9:22 PM - Blake Benefield: you did. the problem was I had already restarted and it worked fine the other 2 times
Sep 1, 2015 at 9:23 PM - Blake Benefield: tonight same crap... stopped the print and I could slide paper above the print and under the nozzle with no resistance
Sep 1, 2015 at 9:23 PM - Blake Benefield: was still printing the brim
Sep 1, 2015 at 9:24 PM - Blake Benefield: I'm checking the end stops but I'm not finding any play
Sep 2, 2015 at 4:39 AM - Bill Monroe: good morning
    Sep 2, 2015 at 5:03 AM - jbigler1986: morning
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:06 AM - Bill Monroe: jb
    Sep 2, 2015 at 5:07 AM - Bill Monroe:
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:09 AM - jbigler1986: you are going to print the whole thing for them
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:10 AM - Bill Monroe: naw.. I'm not printing anything now so might as well do some for them
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:10 AM - Bill Monroe: and besides, I'm experimenting with accel and jerk, using multiple processes, etc...
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:12 AM - Bill Monroe: how you doing today?
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:12 AM - jbigler1986: alright. missing the kids a ton right now
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:12 AM - nonmindo: is it common for the magnets to come un epoxy'd from the bed?
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:12 AM - Bill Monroe: yup.. ya gotta lick them before you reglue them
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:13 AM - nonmindo: not sure if trolling...
    Sep 2, 2015 at 5:13 AM - nonmindo: lol
    Sep 2, 2015 at 5:13 AM - Bill Monroe: :) naw, I'm just kidding
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:14 AM - Bill Monroe: has never happened to me.. but I'm sure someone can share their story
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:14 AM - nonmindo: i tried to glue one back on with loctite but that didnt seem to work....and now the other one on the back is unglued
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:14 AM - nonmindo: im just gonna electrical tape this bitch down
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:15 AM - Bill Monroe: Justin, I know it doesnt fix anything but I know exactly what you're going through
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:16 AM - JeffTheMess: good morning robonauts
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:16 AM - Bill Monroe: Jeff
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:17 AM - JeffTheMess: how goes it Bill
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:17 AM - Bill Monroe: it's OK. gettin 'er done. how about you?
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:18 AM - JeffTheMess: not to bad, gonna start order parts for my quad to spy on people (JK)
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:19 AM - Bill Monroe: that's OK, my new 12 Guage shells with swine-blood soaked titanium shot arrived... go ahead :)
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:20 AM - JeffTheMess: if you can catch me lol
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:21 AM - Bill Monroe: some guy was videoing people on the beach.. another guy swat it down with his towel like we used to do in the gym showers to each other
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:21 AM - Bill Monroe: THEN the quad owner claimed he wasnt flying too close
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:22 AM - JeffTheMess: military drone now use multiple cameras to use as a combine picture; gets great quality from very high up in the sky
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:22 AM - JeffTheMess: See people also trying to kill the hobby i hate it
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:22 AM - Bill Monroe: that's cool tech.. when does yours arrive?
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:23 AM - Bill Monroe: yes, I agree.. but I think eventually the laws will adjust to prosecute the abusers
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:23 AM - JeffTheMess: I have to finish chatting with the guys over at hobbyking since they know more than me. This weekend I will finish coating it with rubber
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:24 AM - JeffTheMess: yup it will but as with any law people will find ways around them
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:25 AM - Bill Monroe: I know right now the local gendarms wont even listen to a quad owner who claims someone jammed his signal and caused his 2K toy to crash :)
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:25 AM - Bill Monroe: (dont ask me how I know) :)
    Sep 2, 2015 at 5:26 AM - JeffTheMess: lol
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:26 AM - Bill Monroe: and as an aside, I've learned that quads wont float in a pool
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:27 AM - jbigler1986: yeah i have no issues with drones as a hobby or taking professional video or some along those lines. To use it to record women on beaches and stuff and to fly around wild fires and interrupting the efforts of putting out the fires is dumb
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:27 AM - JeffTheMess: people use obvious frequencies when flying its so easy to to jam
    Sep 2, 2015 at 5:28 AM - JeffTheMess: pool?
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:28 AM - Bill Monroe: or if you jam them all just long enough...
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:28 AM - JeffTheMess: i wont fly around California then lol
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:29 AM - Bill Monroe: one of my ham buddies is a surveyor by profession.. he actually made a GPS spoofer
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:29 AM - Bill Monroe: never thought about it, but he pointed out GPS satellite sigs a very weak so, it doesnt take much to overpower them
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:30 AM - JeffTheMess: not illegal at all lol
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:30 AM - Bill Monroe: he was showing us with his quad that he can make it just fly away
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:30 AM - Bill Monroe: well essentially, his surveying gear is a GPS transmitter
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:32 AM - JeffTheMess: i dont know too much about gps, but seems easy enough to "hack" since it only send a little bit of data
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:32 AM - Bill Monroe: his quad was hovering over us.. he turned on the magic box.. it just went away... turned it off.. it came back
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:32 AM - Bill Monroe: the intel about GPS is all over the net
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:33 AM - Bill Monroe: of course, the military is futzing with it to make theirs harder to mess with, but it doesnt interefer with civvie use
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:33 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah just saw it 1.5Ghz not too bad
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:34 AM - Bill Monroe: of course, that wont work for the 13 year old peepers with lot of daddy money
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:35 AM - JeffTheMess: best quads
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:35 AM - JeffTheMess: i love this local gps idea
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:36 AM - Bill Monroe: lots of airports that them.. uses WAAS tech to make them hyper accurate for instrument approaches
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:37 AM - Bill Monroe: basically, it's just the same transmitter the satellite uses, just located at the end of the runway
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:38 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah they would benefit from that alot
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:38 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, enrique eglasias tried that too.. :)
    Sep 2, 2015 at 5:39 AM - JeffTheMess: lol
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:39 AM - Bill Monroe: he's know known as "Lefty" Eglasias
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:40 AM - daniel871: I like my idea of just shooting RC toys down if they're hovering over my house at 7am on a Saturday when I'm trying to sleep.
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:41 AM - daniel871: Or just walking outside with the gun and watching it haul ass when the camera on it sees you and you aim at it.
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:42 AM - Bill Monroe: you'll notice that everytime someon does that, they get charged with some firearm related thing.. not for destroying a toy so...
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:42 AM - Bill Monroe: that was the origin for the microwave burst idea
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:42 AM - JeffTheMess: quads arent that easy to catch if you know how to fly one correctly
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:43 AM - Bill Monroe: no noise, no one knows that happened :)
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:43 AM - daniel871: The local police actually didn't have a problem with me doing it, but this is Redneck country.
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:44 AM - daniel871: Was literally told "just shoot the damn dogs" some years ago when calling the local animal control about wild dogs roaming around out here.
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:45 AM - daniel871: Yeah, because I want to spend the rest of the evening burying dogs.
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:45 AM - Bill Monroe: what you need is coyotes
    Sep 2, 2015 at 5:45 AM - daniel871: Those I have no problem shooting.
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:46 AM - Bill Monroe: heck, I love them
    Sep 2, 2015 at 5:46 AM - Bill Monroe: natures clean-up crew
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:46 AM - Bill Monroe: i shoot the cats.. they get a snack... it's the circle of life :)
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:47 AM - daniel871: Also the backup crew for when the raccoons can't get into the trash cans.
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:47 AM - Bill Monroe: the only raccoon we get in SD are attracted by cat food left out
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:47 AM - Bill Monroe: trash cans are provided by the city and are coon-proof
    Sep 2, 2015 at 5:48 AM - daniel871: Not out here they aren't.
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:48 AM - daniel871: No trash pickup service either, have to load up in the truck and drive to the landfill.
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:48 AM - Bill Monroe: well, you make your choices :)
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:49 AM - Bill Monroe: in JT we have a dumpster.. and no raccons
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:49 AM - daniel871: Burn as much paper/burnable stuff as possible in a steel barrel, haul the rest to the landfill when that gets to be enough to be worth the trip.
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:49 AM - Bill Monroe: you mean, you dont use it to heat the still?

Sep 2, 2015 at 5:51 AM - daniel871: My dad did find an old still in the woods last year while looking around for another spot to put a stand for deer season.
    Sep 2, 2015 at 5:51 AM - Bill Monroe: <-- has a still
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:52 AM - Bill Monroe: but mine is made with glass labware
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:52 AM - daniel871: This was an old metal thing.
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:52 AM - daniel871: All rusted over and stuff though, so it hadn't been used in a while.

Sep 2, 2015 at 5:52 AM - Bill Monroe: 2.0 uses 180 proof alcohol to make soap that's clear..
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:53 AM - daniel871: That must be fun if you mess up and drop the soap in the shower. "Where did that damn thing go?!"
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:53 AM - Bill Monroe: heh never thought about that
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:53 AM - daniel871: Or is it more of a liquid instead of a bar?
    Sep 2, 2015 at 5:53 AM - Bill Monroe: no, it's a bar
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:54 AM - daniel871: There are fucking mosquitoes buzzing around in the office this morning.
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:55 AM - daniel871: Means there is another water leak somewhere in the building. Bah.
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:55 AM - Bill Monroe: you know when you work in a swamp, you gotta keep the screens repaired
    Sep 2, 2015 at 5:55 AM - daniel871: This is Atlanta.
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:55 AM - Bill Monroe: same thing
    Sep 2, 2015 at 5:55 AM - daniel871: Not really.
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:55 AM - Bill Monroe: been there

    Sep 2, 2015 at 5:57 AM - daniel871: Also fans.
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:57 AM - Bill Monroe: loved it.. but I'm not bothered by mosquitos
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:58 AM - daniel871: I miss the days when the chemo stuff still in my system would drive bugs away in the time between bugs landing on me and deciding to bite.
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:58 AM - daniel871: Never got bit by anything back then.
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:59 AM - daniel871: Also kept my psoriasis cleared up for whatever reason.
Sep 2, 2015 at 5:59 AM - Bill Monroe: I was down by the river playing with the bazillion turtles and didnt even notice the bugs
Sep 2, 2015 at 6:00 AM - daniel871: (found out that people have really bad cases of psoriasis they basically go on low-dosage chemo to keep it cleared up)
    Sep 2, 2015 at 6:00 AM - daniel871: people who have

Sep 2, 2015 at 7:07 AM - Bill Monroe: made mine the same so I could use a standard driver
    Sep 2, 2015 at 7:10 AM - JeffTheMess: nice
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:12 AM - Bill Monroe: worked pretty good too :)
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:13 AM - Bill Monroe: once in awhile, I think about making one maybe 12-14" in diameter, and using an arduino to run it continuously with random trajectories.. just hang it on a wall like a moving art piece.

Sep 2, 2015 at 7:26 AM - danzca6: Bill, friend here at work actually bought one of these a few years ago. I think they might have come out with a limited run of them again. Very fun
    Sep 2, 2015 at 7:27 AM - danzca6: would make a cool 3d project though
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:27 AM - Bill Monroe: they didnt make them ever again, your friend may have bought a vintage one or one of the copies
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:28 AM - Bill Monroe: there was one similar made in the 70s called a Vertibird.. similar but not nearly as good much smaller too
    Sep 2, 2015 at 7:28 AM - danzca6: It was a "retro" toy, so you're right...it was probably a copy
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:29 AM - Bill Monroe: the original had it's issues.. I've never seen one that didnt have the tail broken off and either glued back on or missing
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:29 AM - danzca6: Hey, if you do bring it back to life, could you share the design on Thingiverse or something for the rest of us to enjoy? :)
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:29 AM - Bill Monroe: mine is glue back on
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:30 AM - Bill Monroe: also, seemed everyone got the same Idea I did and ditched the batteries using a train tranformer instead, which cooked the speed controller
    Sep 2, 2015 at 7:30 AM - danzca6: haha...batteries are for poor people
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:30 AM - Bill Monroe: but I still have the plastic sheet landing pad, the sub, and the paper record of sound effects
    Sep 2, 2015 at 7:31 AM - Bill Monroe: but I'm mkaing mine a chinook-a-like :)

Sep 2, 2015 at 7:33 AM - danzca6: your robo will be the new santa's workshop
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:33 AM - Bill Monroe: heh amoung other things
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:34 AM - Kevin Nguyen: installed my xxl yesterday and now my prints arent sticking on first layers checked my offset and it went from .6 to .4 just from installing the lcd. what went wrong?
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:34 AM - Bill Monroe: installing the LCD didnt cause it
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:34 AM - Bill Monroe: just change your offset in your slicer and proceed with life
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:36 AM - Kevin Nguyen: but the offset keeps changing.
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:37 AM - Bill Monroe: it's defintely not the LCD install that did it
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:38 AM - daniel871: Should probably check that when you were installing the LCD you didn't bump the X-axis out of parallel with the bed.
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:38 AM - daniel871: That thing is finicky as hell if the Robo itself ever moves.
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:38 AM - Bill Monroe: or tweaked the table mount, which is super easy to do
    Sep 2, 2015 at 7:38 AM - daniel871: ^
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:38 AM - Bill Monroe: weak POS design
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:39 AM - daniel871: I'm trying to think of a way to strengthen the mount for the bed but I'm drawing a blank.
    Sep 2, 2015 at 7:39 AM - Bill Monroe: there's a way, but it's not trivial
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:39 AM - Kevin Nguyen: so im preheating my bed and the temp isnt being read properly
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:40 AM - Bill Monroe: how do you know?
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:40 AM - daniel871: Completely changing it to be more like some other 3d printers where the rods are stationary and the bed runs along the rods on bearings, but that's a lot of work.
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:40 AM - Kevin Nguyen: temp probe and tempeture guns say beds above 80 screen says 60
    Sep 2, 2015 at 7:41 AM - daniel871: Well.
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:41 AM - Bill Monroe: i was thinking more like using supported rod with open bearings space out beyond the table travel, then incorporaing screw adjustment
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:41 AM - daniel871: Temp of the glass != temp of the heater where the thermistor is.
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:41 AM - daniel871: Odd that it's 20 degrees higher than the readout on the heater though.
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:42 AM - Bill Monroe: there will always be a difference using temp guns... expecially trying to read a reflective surface..
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:42 AM - WheresWaldo: @Kevin, did you install the E3D thermistor and forget to change the firmware to Thermistor 5
    Sep 2, 2015 at 7:42 AM - daniel871: He's talking about the glass bed.
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:42 AM - Kevin Nguyen: not using an e3d
    Sep 2, 2015 at 7:42 AM - daniel871: That thermistor doesn't change.
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:42 AM - Bill Monroe: and that only applies to some sensors...
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:43 AM - WheresWaldo: Duh, yeah, no coffee yet. Do a PID Config on the bed
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:43 AM - Kevin Nguyen: i thought i fixed this problem last night because my first layers were coming down perfect but the sencond layer tore itself apart
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:43 AM - Bill Monroe: Kevin, sounds to me like you mucked up some things during the install.. just go over all the adjustments again
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:45 AM - WheresWaldo: BTW, those IR thermometers will always show a difference between the readings and the actual. My bed shows up about 8° different than the reading, and changes if I point it to the White R1 or the black area next to it.
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:46 AM - Kevin Nguyen: alright. z offset is corect and its printing fine but what causes the offest change from .61 to .42
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:46 AM - Mike Kelly: mornin
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:46 AM - Bill Monroe: a very wise observation Wally
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:46 AM - WheresWaldo: Nothing, unless you stored it in EEPROM

Sep 2, 2015 at 7:46 AM - daniel871: or if the X-axis is slightly out of kilter and you're adjusting for the lowest point.
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:47 AM - WheresWaldo: That doesn't actually change the number
    Sep 2, 2015 at 7:47 AM - daniel871: Maybe.
    Sep 2, 2015 at 7:47 AM - daniel871: Hey Bill, like these rails? http://www.mcmaster.com/#sleeve-bearing-carriages/=yribaf
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:47 AM - Bill Monroe: those would work
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:49 AM - daniel871: Those and a standard 10" x 10" heated bed platform, and some adjusting for how the Robo homes and moves the Y-axis.
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:49 AM - Bill Monroe: I was thinking like these, but only because I have them already : http://www.mcmaster.com/#shaft-support-rails/=yriccj
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:49 AM - WheresWaldo: @ kevin, if EEPROM writing is enabled on your version of firmware, and I think they all are finally. You can go to terminal and issue your M565 then M500 as the next command, that should store your prefered offset in EEPROM just in case you forget.
    Sep 2, 2015 at 7:50 AM - daniel871: Used with these, Bill? http://www.mcmaster.com/#open-style-linear-bearings/=yridz3
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:51 AM - daniel871: Wonder if the loss in Z would be enough to matter for most prints.
    Sep 2, 2015 at 7:51 AM - jbigler1986: autolevel? what is that
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:51 AM - Kevin Nguyen: @waldo where would i check for the firmware?
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:51 AM - Bill Monroe: more like these: http://www.mcmaster.com/#open-style-linear-bearings/=yridiv
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:51 AM - Bill Monroe: but again, the others would work, I'm just using what I have
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:52 AM - Bill Monroe: or I guess.. would use what I have, if I was going to do it
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:52 AM - daniel871: Probably be pretty sweet on keeping the bed flat if you had three of those open bearings on each side of the bed running on the rails full length of travel.
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:52 AM - Bill Monroe: i'm not a fan of the sliding table anyway.. but that's a better system than robo uses by lightyears
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:55 AM - daniel871: Yeah, I'd like the bed to be stationary but that's a huge modification to go after.
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:55 AM - daniel871: Might as well buy a delta if I want that.
    Sep 2, 2015 at 7:55 AM - Bill Monroe: it'd be more of a "trash-and-start-over"
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:56 AM - Bill Monroe: my freinds with deltas have had great success
    Sep 2, 2015 at 7:56 AM - daniel871: "build a new frame, re-use the electronics"
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:57 AM - daniel871: The only reason I went with a Robo vs. a Delta kit was the whole being unsure about putting a printer together correctly (saw lots of complaints about poor assembly documentation).
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:57 AM - daniel871: Also the video reviews on Amazon.
    Sep 2, 2015 at 7:58 AM - daniel871: Holy crap it's 11.
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:58 AM - Bill Monroe: I forget which one my freinds went with .. lemme ask one of them
    Sep 2, 2015 at 7:58 AM - daniel871: ok
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:59 AM - Bill Monroe: Rostock
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:59 AM - Bill Monroe: very first print one of them tried was the tower of pi, with crap filament, and it came out absolutely perfect
Sep 2, 2015 at 7:59 AM - daniel871: Heard of that one, FolgerTech and some other one.
Sep 2, 2015 at 8:00 AM - daniel871: Yeah, I've never had the Tower of Pi print properly the handful of times I attempted it.
    Sep 2, 2015 at 8:00 AM - daniel871: Always a stringy mess.
    Sep 2, 2015 at 8:00 AM - Bill Monroe: it's a challenge
Sep 2, 2015 at 8:01 AM - Bill Monroe: hers was amazing.. we were all jealous
Sep 2, 2015 at 8:01 AM - daniel871: (if it didn't outright fail or strip out the filament during the retraction madness)
Sep 2, 2015 at 8:03 AM - daniel871: Did she do the one with the solid wall or the one that was just numbers supporting the spiral?
Sep 2, 2015 at 8:03 AM - Bill Monroe: just the numbers..
    Sep 2, 2015 at 8:03 AM - daniel871: Sheeeit.
Sep 2, 2015 at 8:03 AM - Bill Monroe: she has it on her desk and likes to point it out to everyone.. she's evil :)
Sep 2, 2015 at 8:04 AM - daniel871: Well, definitely getting a Rostock delta for the second printer some time down the road after resurrecting the Robo and playing with it for a while.
Sep 2, 2015 at 8:07 AM - daniel871: Did she go with a kit and put it together or the fully assembled one?
Sep 2, 2015 at 8:07 AM - Bill Monroe: yes
Sep 2, 2015 at 8:07 AM - Bill Monroe: took her 3 days
Sep 2, 2015 at 8:07 AM - jbigler1986: I printed the tower of pi once

Sep 2, 2015 at 8:08 AM - Bill Monroe: I tried it once.. didnt do well but that was before I got things really dialed in
Sep 2, 2015 at 8:09 AM - daniel871: I never got an email about it, Sonny.
Sep 2, 2015 at 8:09 AM - Mike Kelly: Bueller? anyone? anyone?
Sep 2, 2015 at 8:09 AM - Bill Monroe: I dunno why you ask.. we're all waiting too and the intel we;ve been given so far has all been bad so....
    Sep 2, 2015 at 8:09 AM - Mike Kelly: i haven't heard
    Sep 2, 2015 at 8:09 AM - Mike Kelly: they'll ship tomorrow*
Sep 2, 2015 at 8:09 AM - daniel871: Probably trying to decide whether to ship to the ones that got bent ones first or the new orders first.
Sep 2, 2015 at 8:09 AM - danzca6: free crabs at the crab shack tomorrow
Sep 2, 2015 at 8:10 AM - danzca6: SeeMeCNC had the Rostock kit for $999. It comes with mattercontrol tablet...shiver...

Sep 2, 2015 at 8:11 AM - Bill Monroe: looks like Harry made it
Sep 2, 2015 at 8:12 AM - Kevin Nguyen: cant wait for those lead screw kits to ship. would fix a couple of my low res print problems
Sep 2, 2015 at 8:12 AM - jbigler1986: should have just got them elsewhere
Sep 2, 2015 at 8:13 AM - Sonny's Robo3D: MatterControl Touch: a terrible way to spend your money or the worst way to spend your money?
    Sep 2, 2015 at 8:13 AM - daniel871: Nice paperweight.
Sep 2, 2015 at 8:13 AM - daniel871: Alternatively: Hack that sucker and put a different slicer on it.
    Sep 2, 2015 at 8:14 AM - daniel871: It's Android based so shouldn't be difficult.
Sep 2, 2015 at 8:14 AM - Kevin Nguyen: if someone could hack s3d on it i would buy it
    Sep 2, 2015 at 8:14 AM - jbigler1986: just buy a cheap tablet
    Sep 2, 2015 at 8:15 AM - Sonny's Robo3D: yeah just buy a cheap tablet - Mattercontrol touch is a 50 dollar tablet they charge 300 for
Sep 2, 2015 at 8:15 AM - jbigler1986: you would need a windows tablet. even then you would need to do some work. windows tablets dont take full programs
Sep 2, 2015 at 8:16 AM - danzca6: what about a surface...that should install the full version of any program
    Sep 2, 2015 at 8:16 AM - Mike Kelly: raspi2 running win10
Sep 2, 2015 at 8:16 AM - daniel871: I meant more for the ones that come with the printer, like that SeemeCNC Rostock

    Sep 2, 2015 at 8:17 AM - Sonny's Robo3D: Rostock doesn't come with it - you can add it for 300 bucks - http://seemecnc.com/products/rostock-max-complete-kit?variant=1201092444
    Sep 2, 2015 at 8:17 AM - daniel871: I'd say No, MK.
Sep 2, 2015 at 8:17 AM - daniel871: Remember that photo of a moose demolishing a van that hit it?
Sep 2, 2015 at 8:18 AM - Mike Kelly: i mean i know moose are big but jfc
Sep 2, 2015 at 8:18 AM - Kevin Nguyen: thats a huge moosey
Sep 2, 2015 at 8:19 AM - Sonny's Robo3D: and yes Moose can get that big!!! I studied at the U of Maine in Orono and sometimes the can block a two-lane highway

Sep 2, 2015 at 8:19 AM - danzca6: yeah..I saw that it was an option...bad one, but an option
    Sep 2, 2015 at 8:19 AM - danzca6: more like a camel
    Sep 2, 2015 at 8:20 AM - Sonny's Robo3D: definitely the biggest camel ;-)
    Sep 2, 2015 at 8:20 AM - danzca6: yikes
    Sep 2, 2015 at 8:21 AM - danzca6: mk, loved the walmart post...too funny

    Sep 2, 2015 at 8:30 AM - daniel871: Hahahahhaa
Sep 2, 2015 at 8:31 AM - Mike Kelly: that movie is so bizarre
Sep 2, 2015 at 8:31 AM - Mike Kelly: WIND BLOWS
Sep 2, 2015 at 8:32 AM - daniel871: The scene where he asks her about it is even funnier with how she rationalizes it.
Sep 2, 2015 at 8:33 AM - daniel871: Would beat the shit out of the guy at the start of that clip though.

Sep 2, 2015 at 8:34 AM - daniel871: First thing they do is read it.
Sep 2, 2015 at 8:37 AM - Mike Kelly: that's a terrible idea who would do that

Sep 2, 2015 at 9:00 AM - Mike Kelly: totally
Sep 2, 2015 at 9:01 AM - Mike Glass: just oversized and then cut, pretty simple
Sep 2, 2015 at 9:01 AM - Mike Kelly: yup, a great looking joint though
Sep 2, 2015 at 9:01 AM - Mike Kelly: i really want a band saw
    Sep 2, 2015 at 9:02 AM - jbigler1986: do it
Sep 2, 2015 at 9:02 AM - Mike Glass: I have one for my shopsmith but thinking I need a 21"
Sep 2, 2015 at 9:03 AM - Mike Kelly: i have like negative room
Sep 2, 2015 at 9:03 AM - Mike Kelly: i still don't know how i can fit the CNC
Sep 2, 2015 at 9:04 AM - Mike Glass: lol hang it.

    Sep 2, 2015 at 9:04 AM - jbigler1986: time to remodel
Sep 2, 2015 at 9:06 AM - Mike Kelly: that is cool MG, seems too simple to work though
Sep 2, 2015 at 9:07 AM - Mike Glass: there is what you could use mike, I have one of these they work great. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0009I8AO6?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s01

Sep 2, 2015 at 9:11 AM - Mike Kelly: wow
    Sep 2, 2015 at 9:11 AM - jbigler1986: doesn't matter. it's awesome
Sep 2, 2015 at 9:12 AM - Mike Kelly: maybe i could put the CNC On that
Sep 2, 2015 at 9:13 AM - Mike Glass: it is awesome
    Sep 2, 2015 at 9:13 AM - jbigler1986: Just build a bigger garage
Sep 2, 2015 at 9:14 AM - Mike Glass: I was thinking about getting another lift for my cnc.
Sep 2, 2015 at 9:20 AM - Mike Glass: this is a nice design for a cut table or even a cnc table. [IMG]
Sep 2, 2015 at 9:21 AM - Mike Glass: comes apart easily
Sep 2, 2015 at 9:22 AM - Mike Kelly: don't know how you'd make that without a band saw
Sep 2, 2015 at 9:22 AM - Mike Kelly: or a lot of patience and manual saw
Sep 2, 2015 at 9:22 AM - Mike Glass: jig saw, and router
    Sep 2, 2015 at 9:22 AM - jbigler1986: ^
Sep 2, 2015 at 9:23 AM - Mike Glass: actually you could use a router for all of it
    Sep 2, 2015 at 9:24 AM - jbigler1986: i haven't used my router yet
Sep 2, 2015 at 9:24 AM - Mike Kelly: hmm true
Sep 2, 2015 at 9:24 AM - Mike Glass: as long as you got sharp bits, routing is fun
Sep 2, 2015 at 9:27 AM - jbigler1986: i plan on using it this weekend
Sep 2, 2015 at 9:28 AM - jbigler1986: to busy trying to get the robo going. so the voltage is to high on the stepper now. runs hot as hell. also the ramps overheated bc i have the bottom cover off right now. sluts
Sep 2, 2015 at 9:29 AM - Mike Glass: ditch the cover and put a real fan on it.
    Sep 2, 2015 at 9:30 AM - jbigler1986: i should. i have a 120 i should throw under it. lol
Sep 2, 2015 at 9:30 AM - danzca6: with the cover off, did you rig the fan back on or is there no fan
Sep 2, 2015 at 9:31 AM - Mike Kelly: most people use the mother of all fan brackets
Sep 2, 2015 at 9:31 AM - Mike Glass: Yea I put a 60mm fan on mine with a new bracket.
    Sep 2, 2015 at 9:32 AM - daniel871: One of these pointed at the Robo's stand? http://www.amazon.com/Vornado-293-Heavy-Duty-Shop-Circulator/dp/B0013LNKIY
Sep 2, 2015 at 9:32 AM - Mike Glass: I flipped my PS and put a fan on the outside of the PS and the case no longer fits.
Sep 2, 2015 at 9:32 AM - danzca6: Daniel, you didn't want to just mount that underneath? LOL
Sep 2, 2015 at 9:33 AM - Mike Glass: no more junk falling into the PS.
    Sep 2, 2015 at 9:33 AM - danzca6: That is a good idea
Sep 2, 2015 at 9:33 AM - daniel871: Basically need a steel framework in order to aim that straight up directly under the Robo.
Sep 2, 2015 at 9:34 AM - daniel871: Is there a good fan mount for the Rambo board?
Sep 2, 2015 at 9:34 AM - danzca6: There are some good ones on thingiverse
Sep 2, 2015 at 9:34 AM - Mike Glass: and put a super quiet fan on it. now I need a quiet fan for the ramps cause its louder and vibrates bad.
Sep 2, 2015 at 9:34 AM - danzca6: there is one that is customizable
Sep 2, 2015 at 9:35 AM - danzca6: The "mother of all fan brackets" looks good as well
    Sep 2, 2015 at 9:35 AM - Mike Kelly: that's the MOAB
    Sep 2, 2015 at 9:36 AM - danzca6: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:166045
    Sep 2, 2015 at 9:36 AM - danzca6: yeah, you are right
Sep 2, 2015 at 9:36 AM - danzca6: forgot that was the same
    Sep 2, 2015 at 9:39 AM - Mike Kelly: :)
Sep 2, 2015 at 9:39 AM - danzca6: I still like the cover to keep from little fingers getting under the printer and accidently unplugging something
Sep 2, 2015 at 9:40 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm always right, the sooner we can start accepting that the faster we'll go along ;)
Sep 2, 2015 at 9:40 AM - Mike Kelly: i like the cover because it keeps the wiring in place
Sep 2, 2015 at 9:40 AM - daniel871: It allows for wire pinching in the cover if you aren't careful too, though.
Sep 2, 2015 at 9:41 AM - danzca6: I might have to design a way to fit a bigger fan and keep the cover. Now that I have these cool feet installed I have more room under it to play
Sep 2, 2015 at 9:41 AM - daniel871: Also that dumb fan always coming unplugged when you have to remove the cover for some reason.
Sep 2, 2015 at 9:41 AM - Mike Kelly: true daniel
    Sep 2, 2015 at 9:41 AM - danzca6: I hate that
Sep 2, 2015 at 9:41 AM - Mike Kelly: it's cause they put like a 4" cable on the fan
Sep 2, 2015 at 9:42 AM - Mike Glass: think its closer to 3"
    Sep 2, 2015 at 9:42 AM - daniel871: Super short cable, yeah.
Sep 2, 2015 at 9:42 AM - daniel871: I think I managed to keep it from coming unplugged *once* by carefully rotating the cover and moving it around the nearest side of the printer, but eventually stopped caring and accepted that it was going to be unplugged any time I accessed inside the Robo.
Sep 2, 2015 at 9:43 AM - Mike Kelly: the worst part about being up in the know on news is seeing it reposted like 20 times ON THE SAME COMMUNITY
Sep 2, 2015 at 9:43 AM - Mike Kelly: we get it, they're printing with glass and MIT came out with 10 material printer we know next to nothing about, go away
Sep 2, 2015 at 9:44 AM - Mike Glass: Hey MK did you hear they have a printer that now prints glass?
    Sep 2, 2015 at 9:46 AM - Mike Glass: nice price http://www.amazon.com/Noctua-Bearin...se_s_cp_6?ie=UTF8&refRID=0ESKYNRXT4VENGN5AKAT
Sep 2, 2015 at 9:46 AM - jbigler1986: since when did they have a different color?
Sep 2, 2015 at 9:47 AM - Mike Glass: its the new redux line
Sep 2, 2015 at 9:47 AM - daniel871: I heard something about a 10 material printer, anyone seen anything on that?
Sep 2, 2015 at 9:49 AM - daniel871: Expected delivery September 10th if you choose expedited shipping, LOfnL

Sep 2, 2015 at 10:09 AM - Mike Kelly: so much nope
    Sep 2, 2015 at 10:10 AM - jbigler1986: dumb
Sep 2, 2015 at 10:16 AM - danzca6: In Cura, can you tell it to print to a certain layer height, pause, then continue?
Sep 2, 2015 at 10:17 AM - Mike Kelly: yes that's possible but their built in plugin for that doesn't work with repraps
Sep 2, 2015 at 10:18 AM - danzca6: darn. I was going to print another bottle opener for my father-in-law and didn't want to mess with scraping out the support for the penny hole
Sep 2, 2015 at 10:19 AM - danzca6: If I hook up my XXL LCD, can I slow the print speed way down at that layer and then throw in the penny and crank it back up?
Sep 2, 2015 at 10:19 AM - Mike Kelly: you can pause from the LCD
Sep 2, 2015 at 10:20 AM - Mike Kelly: but yeah that would also work
Sep 2, 2015 at 10:20 AM - danzca6: All this power, and I just have it collecting dust on my desk...Thanks I will go that rout
    Sep 2, 2015 at 10:20 AM - danzca6: route
Sep 2, 2015 at 10:20 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah it's super useful
Sep 2, 2015 at 10:20 AM - Mike Kelly: especially once you add in baby stepping
    Sep 2, 2015 at 10:21 AM - danzca6: What about Bob
Sep 2, 2015 at 10:21 AM - Mike Kelly: also a bizarre movie

Sep 2, 2015 at 10:22 AM - danzca6: I thought I was going to loose a print the other day because my laptop froze. So another good reason to get it installed
Sep 2, 2015 at 10:23 AM - Mike Glass: make sure you heat the penny up a bit
Sep 2, 2015 at 10:23 AM - Mike Glass: or keep in your pocket
Sep 2, 2015 at 10:24 AM - danzca6: oh, that is a good point or it won't stick
    Sep 2, 2015 at 10:24 AM - danzca6: spray it with hairspray?
Sep 2, 2015 at 10:25 AM - Mike Kelly: also would help
Sep 2, 2015 at 10:25 AM - Mike Kelly: it should bridge well enough though
    Sep 2, 2015 at 10:27 AM - danzca6: Thanks guys.
Sep 2, 2015 at 10:37 AM - Mike Kelly: so MG i think because i printed all the MPCNC parts in ABS all the fitments for the conduit are too big
Sep 2, 2015 at 10:37 AM - Mike Kelly: need to figure out how to sand that out
Sep 2, 2015 at 10:38 AM - Mike Kelly: think i just buy a dowel + sand paper?
    Sep 2, 2015 at 10:39 AM - jbigler1986: ABfnS
Sep 2, 2015 at 10:41 AM - Mike Glass: damn abfns
Sep 2, 2015 at 10:42 AM - Mike Glass: what was the measurement on the hole in the block
    Sep 2, 2015 at 10:43 AM - Bigc: Afternoon
Sep 2, 2015 at 10:44 AM - Mike Glass: mine was fairly tight and just ran some wet sand paper through. also paste wax works great for getting pieces on.
Sep 2, 2015 at 10:44 AM - Mike Glass: hey Bigc
Sep 2, 2015 at 10:47 AM - danzca6: I may have hit my stupid question limit already, but what is MPCNC
    Sep 2, 2015 at 10:47 AM - jbigler1986: Mostly Printed CNC
Sep 2, 2015 at 10:47 AM - Mike Kelly: MG actual or theoretical?
    Sep 2, 2015 at 10:48 AM - danzca6: thanks
Sep 2, 2015 at 10:48 AM - Mike Glass: actual MK

    Sep 2, 2015 at 10:50 AM - daniel871: What is the irony?
Sep 2, 2015 at 10:50 AM - Mike Glass: Justpla Cinnamon is back in stock for $17.99 if anybody needs some.
Sep 2, 2015 at 10:51 AM - Mike Kelly: the person that sign is directed at wouldn't be able to read said sign

Sep 2, 2015 at 10:53 AM - jbigler1986: It is never also to late to learn to read. That's what that sign says. Make sense now? Nope
Sep 2, 2015 at 10:53 AM - jbigler1986: i have a ton of filament MG. Come get some
Sep 2, 2015 at 10:53 AM - Bigc: What is Size limit on the mpcnc if there is one
Sep 2, 2015 at 10:54 AM - Mike Glass: not really, but I would stay under 2'
Sep 2, 2015 at 10:55 AM - daniel871: The sign says "It's never to late to learn to read". No "also" there.
    Sep 2, 2015 at 10:55 AM - daniel871: too
    Sep 2, 2015 at 10:55 AM - jbigler1986: too means also
    Sep 2, 2015 at 10:56 AM - daniel871: https://www.google.com/search?q=too...l4.488j0j7&sourceid=chrome&es_sm=122&ie=UTF-8
    Sep 2, 2015 at 10:56 AM - daniel871: 1st definition works
Sep 2, 2015 at 10:57 AM - daniel871: You never see "they were driving to fast" being correct over "they were driving too fast". And that doesn't mean "they were driving also fast".
Sep 2, 2015 at 10:57 AM - jbigler1986: it is just not a good sentence when trying to promote learning how to read
Sep 2, 2015 at 10:58 AM - Mike Glass: its the same meaning though
Sep 2, 2015 at 10:58 AM - Mike Glass: too or also gets the same point across
Sep 2, 2015 at 10:59 AM - daniel871: The second is a little clunky and never the way most people would interpret it if it was said aloud.
Sep 2, 2015 at 10:59 AM - jbigler1986: normally when I see "too" it means also
Sep 2, 2015 at 10:59 AM - daniel871: Thought the complaint was over the "It's" but that is actually correct.
Sep 2, 2015 at 11:00 AM - daniel871: You live in a weird world, then. "Too much stuff, not enough space!" commercials and variations that kind of sentence are never uttered.
    Sep 2, 2015 at 11:01 AM - jbigler1986: i said normally. Not "always"
Sep 2, 2015 at 11:02 AM - daniel871: The other usage is by far the most common unless a lot of people are saying "Me too!" in response to things a lot.
    Sep 2, 2015 at 11:02 AM - Mike Glass: just use a 2 and not confuse..lol
    Sep 2, 2015 at 11:02 AM - jbigler1986: text language
Sep 2, 2015 at 11:03 AM - Mike Glass: let them determine what it means
Sep 2, 2015 at 11:03 AM - jbigler1986: I see far to many people use that stuff in business emails.
    Sep 2, 2015 at 11:03 AM - daniel871: too many
    Sep 2, 2015 at 11:03 AM - daniel871: :p
    Sep 2, 2015 at 11:04 AM - jbigler1986: That's why the english language is a fucking mess
Sep 2, 2015 at 11:05 AM - jbigler1986: I couldn't imagine it not being my native language and trying to learn it
Sep 2, 2015 at 11:06 AM - jbigler1986: On another note. Did you guys see the glass 3d printer?
Sep 2, 2015 at 11:07 AM - Mike Glass: no could you post some pictures
    Sep 2, 2015 at 11:07 AM - daniel871: Working on it.
Sep 2, 2015 at 11:10 AM - Mike Glass: wish flexible filament was cheaper
Sep 2, 2015 at 11:11 AM - danzca6: demand is high because of all these robbie parts
    Sep 2, 2015 at 11:11 AM - danzca6: )
    Sep 2, 2015 at 11:12 AM - danzca6: oh flexible...that's different
    Sep 2, 2015 at 11:12 AM - Mike Glass: just a little
Sep 2, 2015 at 11:12 AM - danzca6: do we get a discount with PrintedSolid
Sep 2, 2015 at 11:13 AM - Mike Glass: last time I bought $50 filament it was crap, dont want that to happen again
Sep 2, 2015 at 11:15 AM - danzca6: looking for semi flex or full flex?
Sep 2, 2015 at 11:16 AM - Mike Glass: semi
Sep 2, 2015 at 11:16 AM - Bigc: I just bought a 1.5 kg spool of bronzefill and it was not cheap
Sep 2, 2015 at 11:17 AM - jbigler1986: Frys has some flex filament if you have a Frys by you
Sep 2, 2015 at 11:17 AM - Blake Benefield: I got some shaxon copperfill at the conference, seemed to print goopy.
    Sep 2, 2015 at 11:17 AM - jbigler1986: extruder rev 50 is printing now
Sep 2, 2015 at 11:18 AM - jbigler1986: shaxon I have had issues with lately
Sep 2, 2015 at 11:18 AM - jbigler1986: I liked it for a while. Not sure what hapened
Sep 2, 2015 at 11:19 AM - daniel871: There is this, but I don't know how flexible it is in reality. http://www.makergeeks.com/flplafigipak.html

    Sep 2, 2015 at 11:20 AM - danzca6: that's only .5K
Sep 2, 2015 at 11:20 AM - Blake Benefield: I have that shaxon black im printing the crown out of, it works fine.
Sep 2, 2015 at 11:20 AM - Blake Benefield: mg chemicals glow in the dark works fine also, minimal glow
Sep 2, 2015 at 11:20 AM - daniel871: That youtube video at the bottom shows them twisting a circular print into figure-8s
Sep 2, 2015 at 11:21 AM - Blake Benefield: won both of those as door prizes
Sep 2, 2015 at 11:21 AM - jbigler1986: mg chemicals gold printed good. silver was shit
Sep 2, 2015 at 11:21 AM - daniel871: The flex filaments are in .5kg spools for 1.75 from what I've seen, usually.
    Sep 2, 2015 at 11:21 AM - danzca6: wait, here's black for $39 http://www.amazon.com/NinjaFlex-Sem...1441218119&sr=8-12&keywords=semiflex+filament
Sep 2, 2015 at 11:21 AM - Blake Benefield: a guy tried to take a picture of their 8' tall delta with inkjet coloring and was escorted out of the building never to be seen again
Sep 2, 2015 at 11:22 AM - Blake Benefield: I think they had him whacked....
    Sep 2, 2015 at 11:22 AM - Blake Benefield: :D
    Sep 2, 2015 at 11:22 AM - danzca6: Only 2 left mike
    Sep 2, 2015 at 11:22 AM - danzca6: it was 3 just a few minutes ago
Sep 2, 2015 at 11:23 AM - daniel871: Only 8' tall on the delta? Psh. There was a 15' one on Youtube not long ago.
    Sep 2, 2015 at 11:24 AM - danzca6: that was at makerfaire I think
Sep 2, 2015 at 11:24 AM - Blake Benefield: Build volume was 36"x72" at 8' tall, and they just used natural filament and had an inkjet head attached to it that colored it as it went.
    Sep 2, 2015 at 11:25 AM - danzca6: oh sure, mike left
Sep 2, 2015 at 11:25 AM - Blake Benefield: custom software etc, but could print a standing 6' tall person in full color
Sep 2, 2015 at 11:25 AM - daniel871: The 15' one I'm talking about had a bin full of plastic pellets it melted and extruded vs. using a filament spool.
Sep 2, 2015 at 11:26 AM - daniel871: Probably a little tricky to get full color that way though.
Sep 2, 2015 at 11:26 AM - Bill Monroe: hello
