    Sep 4, 2015 12:11 PM - jbigler1986: MG look at my picture
    Sep 4, 2015 12:11 PM - NFOsec: that's the what I thought.
Sep 4, 2015 12:11 PM - Mike Glass: do you put the clip in the top first?
Sep 4, 2015 12:11 PM - donhuevo: no... screw in the top to the body, insert the heatsink then pop in the clip
Sep 4, 2015 12:11 PM - NFOsec: looked familiar -- I only bought y ellow from hatch once, small spool, hadn't used it since, but just updated an order for a few more roles since black, orange, clear, blue are boring. :)
Sep 4, 2015 12:11 PM - jbigler1986: I insert the hotend, put the cap on, screw it in, then put the clip on
    Sep 4, 2015 12:12 PM - donhuevo: or that
Sep 4, 2015 12:12 PM - NFOsec: maybe you put it in the wrong end?
Sep 4, 2015 12:13 PM - Mike Glass: guess I dont know where the clip goes then, I thought it went into the top piece
Sep 4, 2015 12:14 PM - jbigler1986: it does. The bar on the cap goes in the middle of the clip
    Sep 4, 2015 12:14 PM - Mike Kelly: wow
    Sep 4, 2015 12:15 PM - donhuevo: [IMG]
    Sep 4, 2015 12:16 PM - JeffTheMess: take that to a library
    Sep 4, 2015 12:16 PM - NFOsec: I have to admit, a 4 hour part was nice.
Sep 4, 2015 12:17 PM - Mike Glass: no way that clip is fitting inside
Sep 4, 2015 12:17 PM - donhuevo: that is very very cool Mike. the craftsmanship! But if it was in my house, I'd stick my foot in it after about 5 minutes to shut it up
    Sep 4, 2015 12:17 PM - jbigler1986: hold on MG
Sep 4, 2015 12:17 PM - NFOsec: Mike: I made one of those with my 50w laser and GearMaker. it's cool.
    Sep 4, 2015 12:18 PM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
Sep 4, 2015 12:18 PM - NFOsec: This was my first version from a project I found online.
    Sep 4, 2015 12:18 PM - NFOsec: http://msraynsford.blogspot.com/2012/12/project-7-marble-machine-1.html
    Sep 4, 2015 12:19 PM - Mike Glass: I have piece.
    Sep 4, 2015 12:19 PM - Mike Glass: that
Sep 4, 2015 12:19 PM - jbigler1986: the clip gets installed that way
    Sep 4, 2015 12:19 PM - Mike Glass: oh..lol
Sep 4, 2015 12:19 PM - Mike Glass: broke the dam thing now trying to put inside...haha
Sep 4, 2015 12:19 PM - jbigler1986: that "pillar" goes on the inside of the clip
Sep 4, 2015 12:20 PM - jbigler1986: yeah i tried to do it that way at first too
Sep 4, 2015 12:20 PM - donhuevo: my stream has a clippy thing
Sep 4, 2015 12:21 PM - Mike Glass: it threaded perfect on my test piece.
    Sep 4, 2015 12:26 PM - jbigler1986: Good
    Sep 4, 2015 12:26 PM - jbigler1986: it's a really nice design
Sep 4, 2015 12:27 PM - donhuevo: well thank you
Sep 4, 2015 12:28 PM - Mike Glass: need to sand the top down just a hair, the clip doesnt fit into the groove all the way.
Sep 4, 2015 12:29 PM - donhuevo: check the clip in the j head groove first. you may want to take a knife to the top instead. the goal is a good snap and once in place the nozzle doesn't move
Sep 4, 2015 12:29 PM - donhuevo: and something you can remove without a whole lot of effort either
Sep 4, 2015 12:30 PM - Mike Kelly: quick release in the actual sense
    Sep 4, 2015 12:30 PM - donhuevo: yes sir
Sep 4, 2015 12:31 PM - jbigler1986: yeah. mine does wiggle or anything. just to easy to thread right now. will be solved tonight
Sep 4, 2015 12:31 PM - Mike Glass: That was the problem don, too much metal showing at the top.
Sep 4, 2015 12:32 PM - jbigler1986: anyone know if hardware stores have solder?
Sep 4, 2015 12:32 PM - donhuevo: may be plumbing solder
Sep 4, 2015 12:32 PM - Mike Kelly: they should in the electrical section
Sep 4, 2015 12:32 PM - Mike Kelly: if you have any rat shacks left they might
    Sep 4, 2015 12:33 PM - jbigler1986: Fry's is out of my way now
Sep 4, 2015 12:33 PM - jbigler1986: nope. all radio shacks are closed around here
Sep 4, 2015 12:33 PM - Mike Glass: little sanding fits perfecto now.
    Sep 4, 2015 12:34 PM - donhuevo: cool
    Sep 4, 2015 12:34 PM - jbigler1986: https://www.menards.com/main/plumbi...d/p-1456904-c-8533.htm?tid=952252722179860849
    Sep 4, 2015 12:34 PM - jbigler1986: yep
Sep 4, 2015 12:36 PM - Mike Glass: what is holding the hotend from going up or down , just the threads?
    Sep 4, 2015 12:36 PM - jbigler1986: yeah
Sep 4, 2015 12:36 PM - jbigler1986: that's why you want the kind of tight
Sep 4, 2015 12:36 PM - Mike Kelly: MG when you printed your bosch holder did you print both sides of the hinge at once or did you print with support
    Sep 4, 2015 12:36 PM - jbigler1986: them*
Sep 4, 2015 12:37 PM - Mike Glass: did you resize them jb?
    Sep 4, 2015 12:37 PM - jbigler1986: i did a tiny bit. still needs teflon tape though
Sep 4, 2015 12:38 PM - Mike Glass: let me think mike. I didnt print them as one no.
Sep 4, 2015 12:38 PM - jbigler1986: if it was just 1 hotend i would use blue loc tite
Sep 4, 2015 12:39 PM - Mike Glass: hot glue should work
    Sep 4, 2015 12:39 PM - jbigler1986: should
Sep 4, 2015 12:39 PM - Mike Kelly: ok cool thanks
Sep 4, 2015 12:39 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm tempted to try it, last time i printed hinges like this it worked
Sep 4, 2015 12:39 PM - donhuevo: yep. I was gonna say that. no need to have adjustability with one hot end. get the Hot Glue Gun out
Sep 4, 2015 12:40 PM - donhuevo: originally, it was a way for me to print the carriage without support
Sep 4, 2015 12:40 PM - Mike Glass: do you think the one I have would need support?
Sep 4, 2015 12:41 PM - donhuevo: haven't seen what you've done with it but when I gave you the drawing, no
Sep 4, 2015 12:41 PM - donhuevo: the front vents had arched ceilings so support wouldn't have been necessary there
Sep 4, 2015 12:41 PM - Blake Benefield: Lowes carries solder. Walmart carries solder. Hobby lobby. Michaels. Harbor freight. Sears. Kmart. Autozone. Etc
Sep 4, 2015 12:41 PM - donhuevo: same with the fan dict
Sep 4, 2015 12:51 PM - NFOsec: so what would cause the extruder to keep forcing itself beyond the limit (on left) seems to trigger, but wondered if calibration got mucked up somewhere.
Sep 4, 2015 12:52 PM - Mike Kelly: on left?
Sep 4, 2015 12:52 PM - Mike Glass: WHat percent infill should I do, using abs also.
Sep 4, 2015 12:52 PM - Mike Kelly: like when it homes?
    Sep 4, 2015 12:52 PM - jbigler1986: damnit. I just posted on the foorum
    Sep 4, 2015 12:52 PM - jbigler1986: it was MC related so I couldn't help it
Sep 4, 2015 12:53 PM - jbigler1986: probably wires getting the way or something. The screw on the carrriage to activate it may not be long enough either
Sep 4, 2015 12:54 PM - Mike Glass: did they put the screw back on the carriage?
    Sep 4, 2015 12:55 PM - jbigler1986: yep
    Sep 4, 2015 12:55 PM - jbigler1986: just how i like it
Sep 4, 2015 12:55 PM - Mike Glass: what infill did you do your carriage jb?
Sep 4, 2015 12:56 PM - Mike Glass: almost forgot I need the add the screw to this carriage. doh.
    Sep 4, 2015 12:56 PM - jbigler1986: I believe 15
    Sep 4, 2015 12:56 PM - jbigler1986: actually it was 20
Sep 4, 2015 12:57 PM - donhuevo: how many shells?
Sep 4, 2015 12:57 PM - Mike Glass: I might have to go more now that I think about it, I have some weaker points, did you go more layers on the bottom?
    Sep 4, 2015 12:57 PM - jbigler1986: i did 4 and 4
Sep 4, 2015 12:58 PM - Mike Glass: think goint 4mm solid is a good thing on the bottom, specially if you are using pla
    Sep 4, 2015 12:58 PM - jbigler1986: shells were 2 i believe
Sep 4, 2015 12:58 PM - jbigler1986: i have never had an issue with PLA carriages
Sep 4, 2015 12:59 PM - Mike Glass: but the heat block is right up close to this one.
Sep 4, 2015 12:59 PM - donhuevo: I think I've always done 50% or better infill on my carriages. And I always put the heat reflective tape on the bottom
Sep 4, 2015 1:01 PM - NFOsec: yeah, found one little hanger.
    Sep 4, 2015 1:01 PM - jbigler1986: hmmm. yeah i don't have any of that
Sep 4, 2015 1:02 PM - donhuevo: I'm sure I was more paranoid than I needed to be but this has gone on the bottom of every carriage I've put into use... http://www.amazon.com/Heatshield-Pr...41397152&sr=8-9&keywords=heat+reflective+tape
    Sep 4, 2015 1:03 PM - Bill Monroe: I always used XT :D
Sep 4, 2015 1:03 PM - Mike Glass: I have some, plan to put it on even with abs.
    Sep 4, 2015 1:03 PM - jbigler1986: like hvac tape?
Sep 4, 2015 1:03 PM - donhuevo: that would do
    Sep 4, 2015 1:05 PM - jbigler1986: i think i have a bunch of kapton tape

Sep 4, 2015 1:06 PM - Mike Glass: abs slurry and some aluminum foil..lol
    Sep 4, 2015 1:06 PM - jbigler1986: bingo
    Sep 4, 2015 1:06 PM - jbigler1986: i do have a spool of black ABfnS
Sep 4, 2015 1:07 PM - jbigler1986: not sure how well kapton tape would stick to the carriage though
Sep 4, 2015 1:08 PM - Mike Glass: not sure it would really reflect heat
    Sep 4, 2015 1:08 PM - jbigler1986: also true
Sep 4, 2015 1:09 PM - jbigler1986: hvac tape it will probably be
Sep 4, 2015 1:09 PM - Mike Glass: ok one more test fit piece to print
Sep 4, 2015 1:09 PM - Mike Glass: I have like 2 huge rolls of it
Sep 4, 2015 1:10 PM - jbigler1986: i had some a while ago. not sure what i did with it
Sep 4, 2015 1:11 PM - jbigler1986: i lost it before every was held hostage
    Sep 4, 2015 1:11 PM - jbigler1986: everything*
Sep 4, 2015 1:18 PM - Mike Kelly: just started another tool holder, 6 hours
Sep 4, 2015 1:19 PM - donhuevo: I'm gonna let that one go
Sep 4, 2015 1:22 PM - Mike Kelly: in black ABfnS
    Sep 4, 2015 1:22 PM - Mike Kelly: <3
Sep 4, 2015 1:23 PM - Mike Kelly: for you don "my big black tool holder"
    Sep 4, 2015 1:24 PM - jbigler1986: haha
    Sep 4, 2015 1:29 PM - donhuevo: I like it
Sep 4, 2015 1:38 PM - NFOsec: well donheuvo did mention "small things", so it might require NinjaFlex filament and some creative extrended circles.
Sep 4, 2015 1:39 PM - NFOsec: I can't believe I'm printing up a set of cat food covers. man, where is injection molding when you need it.
    Sep 4, 2015 1:41 PM - jbigler1986: you have all you need
Sep 4, 2015 1:42 PM - Kevin Nguyen: hey guys
    Sep 4, 2015 1:43 PM - jbigler1986: hello
Sep 4, 2015 1:48 PM - Kevin Nguyen: hey don for your chain link conduit for under the print bed how do you mount it?
Sep 4, 2015 1:49 PM - Mike Glass: hot glue
Sep 4, 2015 1:49 PM - Kevin Nguyen: his picture had some kind of screws
Sep 4, 2015 1:49 PM - Kevin Nguyen: but i cant tell what kind they are from a picture i mean cmon
Sep 4, 2015 1:49 PM - Mike Kelly: i believe he drilled a hole in his acrylic base
    Sep 4, 2015 1:50 PM - Mike Kelly: i think he used M4
    Sep 4, 2015 1:51 PM - Sonny's Robo3D: anyone heard a word on those lead screws?
Sep 4, 2015 1:52 PM - Kevin Nguyen: nope but gotta check evreyday to be sure lol
Sep 4, 2015 1:53 PM - donhuevo: sorry... I was lurking on McMaster Carr's website. those were just some wood screws I had laying around that I used to anchor each end of the chain conduit
    Sep 4, 2015 1:53 PM - Mike Kelly: hahah
Sep 4, 2015 1:54 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm hoping the lead screws don't ship till the 15th so they can be a full month behind schedule
    Sep 4, 2015 1:54 PM - donhuevo: here's a remix Galaxius did... http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:595308
    Sep 4, 2015 2:06 PM - donhuevo: dict [IMG]
    Sep 4, 2015 2:10 PM - NFOsec: NcMaster-Carr's site is worth lurking...
    Sep 4, 2015 2:16 PM - Mike Kelly: definitely a rabbit hole
    Sep 4, 2015 2:27 PM - Mike Kelly: e3d needs a shoutbox
Sep 4, 2015 2:30 PM - donhuevo: people would hang out there?
Sep 4, 2015 2:30 PM - donhuevo: or are you just looking to chat with a better class of people?
Sep 4, 2015 2:31 PM - Mike Kelly: well the bigbox community would probably chat there
Sep 4, 2015 2:33 PM - Mike Glass: Thing they will actually ship?
    Sep 4, 2015 2:34 PM - Mike Kelly: not even a doubt
Sep 4, 2015 2:36 PM - donhuevo: so on the one hand, you could chat with people smart enough to buy the big box, or on the other... chat with us
Sep 4, 2015 2:37 PM - Mike Glass: ugg solidworks is working on crashing....:(
    Sep 4, 2015 2:37 PM - Mike Kelly: i can do both
Sep 4, 2015 2:44 PM - Ravindu: can anyone please tell me how to increase temperature in configuration h files and inserting commands for LCD display
Sep 4, 2015 2:44 PM - Ravindu: here is it located in PC?
    Sep 4, 2015 2:46 PM - Mike Kelly: http://guide.robo3d.com/Wiki/ROBO_3D_Firmware_Release_Notes
    Sep 4, 2015 2:48 PM - Ravindu: thanks Mike
Sep 4, 2015 2:53 PM - Mike Glass: almost complete [IMG]
Sep 4, 2015 2:54 PM - Mike Glass: wish I was better at assembly
    Sep 4, 2015 3:00 PM - donhuevo: oh my...
    Sep 4, 2015 3:00 PM - Mike Kelly: neato
Sep 4, 2015 3:01 PM - Mike Kelly: trick to assembly is making sure all your dimensions match between components
    Sep 4, 2015 3:02 PM - donhuevo: tab a into slot b
Sep 4, 2015 3:02 PM - Mike Kelly: i should paint all my fans gold, looks cool
Sep 4, 2015 3:02 PM - Mike Glass: still not sure how the screw holds it there is not bottom, maybe a lip on the screw head would work.
    Sep 4, 2015 3:03 PM - donhuevo: screw?
    Sep 4, 2015 3:04 PM - Mike Glass: use a screw?
Sep 4, 2015 3:04 PM - donhuevo: how the screw holds it there?
Sep 4, 2015 3:04 PM - donhuevo: is not bottom?
Sep 4, 2015 3:05 PM - Mike Glass: the top v2, it screws into the top, that is the only thing that holds it, there is nothing on the bottom of the extruder to force it against.
Sep 4, 2015 3:05 PM - Mike Glass: not extruder the hotend
Sep 4, 2015 3:06 PM - Mike Glass: unless im missing something on this one
Sep 4, 2015 3:06 PM - donhuevo: we're talking about my design or something else?
Sep 4, 2015 3:06 PM - Mike Glass: well this one that you originally designed.
Sep 4, 2015 3:07 PM - donhuevo: so when you say screw, you mean the threaded top?
Sep 4, 2015 3:08 PM - donhuevo: trying to get on the same page with you and I think I'm in the wrong book
Sep 4, 2015 3:08 PM - Mike Glass: correct, it will keep going down untill the clip hits, just wondering if there was a stop somehow would keep it from moving
Sep 4, 2015 3:09 PM - donhuevo: ah... Hot Glue Gun. Once that top is screwed in, you never need to take it off again. Only pull the clip and drop the hot end out the bottom
Sep 4, 2015 3:10 PM - Mike Glass: like you told me before the heatsink part of the v6 does not held in by the bottom of the carriage it is free and sits flush with the bottom. correct?
Sep 4, 2015 3:10 PM - donhuevo: right but that clip should pull the heatsink tight up against the underside of the top which is flat
Sep 4, 2015 3:10 PM - Mike Glass: ok, thats all I wondered if thats they way you meant it to be.
Sep 4, 2015 3:11 PM - donhuevo: sorry... just lost all understanding there for a minute
Sep 4, 2015 3:11 PM - Mike Glass: jb wouldnt do that as dual needs adjustments.
Sep 4, 2015 3:12 PM - donhuevo: right. he needs to get to a point where you need a little force to turn the tops so they'll stay where he puts them
Sep 4, 2015 3:12 PM - Mike Glass: wonder if a set screw would work on the vent side?
Sep 4, 2015 3:13 PM - donhuevo: but in either case, the clip should pull the heatsink tight to the underside of the top
Sep 4, 2015 3:13 PM - Mike Glass: that it does perfect.
Sep 4, 2015 3:13 PM - donhuevo: if anything, I'd do a setscrew on both sides to keep it centered
Sep 4, 2015 3:13 PM - donhuevo: but only if after install you can move the nozzle
Sep 4, 2015 3:14 PM - Mike Glass: im just talking into the treads to hold the top piece
Sep 4, 2015 3:15 PM - donhuevo: oh gotcha... sure. that'd work too
    Sep 4, 2015 3:15 PM - donhuevo: although, plastic threads wouldn't survive a setscrew
    Sep 4, 2015 3:15 PM - Mike Kelly: helicoils
Sep 4, 2015 3:15 PM - Mike Glass: I use one on my cnc works fine.
Sep 4, 2015 3:16 PM - PeterkSharma: Holy shit lead screws shipped
Sep 4, 2015 3:16 PM - Mike Kelly: did you get a notice?
    Sep 4, 2015 3:16 PM - donhuevo: I call bullshit
Sep 4, 2015 3:16 PM - donhuevo: it's fake. your neighbor sent it
Sep 4, 2015 3:16 PM - Mike Kelly: KTM said he got one
Sep 4, 2015 3:18 PM - Mike Glass: hmm I havent even got any notifications yet.
Sep 4, 2015 3:18 PM - Mike Glass: they probably forgot about me again
    Sep 4, 2015 3:21 PM - jbigler1986: mk
    Sep 4, 2015 3:21 PM - Mike Kelly: jb
Sep 4, 2015 3:21 PM - jbigler1986: can you give me that spacer again? its not on the chatbox or the archive right now

Sep 4, 2015 3:22 PM - jbigler1986: actually can you edit it a tiny bit
Sep 4, 2015 3:22 PM - jbigler1986: the ID is a tiny bit small and the od is a tiny bit to large
Sep 4, 2015 3:23 PM - jbigler1986: it split trying to force it onto the shaft
Sep 4, 2015 3:23 PM - Mike Kelly: give me some numbers
    Sep 4, 2015 3:23 PM - Mike Kelly: 6.1 and 7.9?
    Sep 4, 2015 3:24 PM - jbigler1986: 6.2 and 7.8
    Sep 4, 2015 3:24 PM - jbigler1986: Should do the trick
    Sep 4, 2015 3:24 PM - Mike Kelly: should the 5 be 5.1 or 5.2

Sep 4, 2015 3:26 PM - jbigler1986: To the bottom of the drive gear?
    Sep 4, 2015 3:27 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah

    Sep 4, 2015 3:28 PM - jbigler1986: fuck. no calipers
Sep 4, 2015 3:29 PM - Mike Kelly: ugh i'm supposed to go out for a "surprise" birthday party, really don't want to go out again tonight
Sep 4, 2015 3:29 PM - Sims Reaper: anyone happen to know a good fan shroud design that works well with the longer volcano head?
Sep 4, 2015 3:30 PM - PeterkSharma: There is one for a centerfuge fan. Looks like it works well
Sep 4, 2015 3:30 PM - PeterkSharma: Saw it on thingiverse
Sep 4, 2015 3:31 PM - donhuevo: As Seen on
    Sep 4, 2015 3:32 PM - donhuevo: TV
    Sep 4, 2015 3:32 PM - jbigler1986: HSN?
    Sep 4, 2015 3:32 PM - donhuevo: ThingiVerse

Sep 4, 2015 3:55 PM - NFOsec: I sense a new trend or a FAD coming about. Talk about quick release.
    Sep 4, 2015 4:06 PM - jbigler1986: so humid today
Sep 4, 2015 4:11 PM - donhuevo: very interesting what all is involved in getting a built-in fingerprint scanner on a dell laptop working with windows 10
Sep 4, 2015 4:12 PM - donhuevo: been at it over an hour and still not there yet
Sep 4, 2015 4:27 PM - Blake Benefield: Don. Once you get it make sure you have a backup code
Sep 4, 2015 4:31 PM - Mike Glass: yeah you never know when you lose a finger
Sep 4, 2015 4:32 PM - donhuevo: I still have the password as a login option but the fingerprint is too convenient to give up
Sep 4, 2015 4:34 PM - donhuevo: trying to install the latest driver told me the firmware needed updated. To update the firmware, you need to know the TPM owner password. Had to learn how to reset that. Stupid
Sep 4, 2015 4:35 PM - Mike Glass: printing the carriage Don.
    Sep 4, 2015 4:35 PM - donhuevo: sweet!

Sep 4, 2015 4:36 PM - Mike Glass: I should of waited for the lights to come in to put those in place but oh well.
Sep 4, 2015 4:36 PM - Mike Glass: No just hatchbox blue
Sep 4, 2015 4:36 PM - Mike Glass: I wanted to print in the clear abs, but its effed up.

Sep 4, 2015 4:37 PM - Mike Glass: yep 90% of prints on the robo I used it for.
    Sep 4, 2015 4:37 PM - donhuevo: pops under the white LED's
Sep 4, 2015 4:38 PM - Mike Glass: a forsner bit will make due when the lights come in.

Sep 4, 2015 5:44 PM - donhuevo: I think from this point forward, any and all emails I send to Harry will have INRE: Leadscrews in the Subject
Sep 4, 2015 5:44 PM - Mike Glass: none MK, it was the one with the effed up screw, I just needed one.
Sep 4, 2015 6:12 PM - Mike Glass: effin warping POS
Sep 4, 2015 6:33 PM - jbigler1986: Guess what i just put on as bowden?
Sep 4, 2015 6:36 PM - jbigler1986: Greg's wade. Lol. Not sure wtf my issue was
    Sep 4, 2015 6:40 PM - Mike Glass: ?
Sep 4, 2015 6:48 PM - jbigler1986: Using Greg's wade as my bowden extruder again. Was having issues with the hercustruder. Not sure what was going on and got tired of messing with it
Sep 4, 2015 6:54 PM - PeterkSharma: Did you like hercustruder?
Sep 4, 2015 7:23 PM - jbigler1986: I had issues. I think it was drive gear related. Not sure though

Sep 4, 2015 7:35 PM - Mike Glass: get it
Sep 4, 2015 7:36 PM - daniel871: What does the bigbox use to drive the steppers/heatrrs/etc.?
Sep 4, 2015 7:36 PM - Bigc: Quick question what is the thermal limitation of the e3d v6
Sep 4, 2015 7:38 PM - daniel871: Think the v6 is limited by the thermistor. So 260 if using stud thermistor, 300 if using the supplied one.
    Sep 4, 2015 7:38 PM - daniel871: I think.

Sep 4, 2015 7:42 PM - Bigc: OK so the e3dv6 Has a ptfe tube Shouldn't that limit the print temp to Some were in the 240's
    Sep 4, 2015 7:42 PM - daniel871: Only if your hotend fan isn't working.
    Sep 4, 2015 7:43 PM - BryZad: hi all
    Sep 4, 2015 7:43 PM - Bigc: Hey
Sep 4, 2015 7:43 PM - daniel871: The heat break, heat sink and fan keep the heat dissipating before it gets into tge PTFE area in theory.
Sep 4, 2015 7:44 PM - BryZad: anyone figure out a good way to join filament
Sep 4, 2015 7:45 PM - daniel871: Nope. Closest I got was being nearby and using the "change filament" command on the LCD controller.
Sep 4, 2015 7:46 PM - Bigc: I was putting the two i have together and i destroyed one of the thermistors in the processes
Sep 4, 2015 7:46 PM - BryZad: i have some little half spools laying around and want to use it up
Sep 4, 2015 7:47 PM - daniel871: Yeah, the thermistors that come with the v6 are fairly delicate.
    Sep 4, 2015 7:47 PM - Bigc: I am going to buy a 10 pack from amazon
    Sep 4, 2015 7:48 PM - PeterkSharma: Big c that's what I did
Sep 4, 2015 7:48 PM - PeterkSharma: Make sure you get the sleeving and some extra metal crimp shit too
Sep 4, 2015 7:49 PM - PeterkSharma: And don't tighten them down as hard
Sep 4, 2015 7:49 PM - Bigc: More than likely i will need it
Sep 4, 2015 7:51 PM - Bigc: Tighten the screw or the the crimps because the one i had i ripped the lead out
Sep 4, 2015 7:52 PM - Mike Glass: Hey Bry
Sep 4, 2015 7:52 PM - PeterkSharma: The screw, I broke 3 getting the terminator tightened in properly
    Sep 4, 2015 7:52 PM - PeterkSharma: Thermistor*
Sep 4, 2015 7:52 PM - Mike Glass: you dont have to use an impact wrench :)
    Sep 4, 2015 7:53 PM - BryZad: hey MIke
Sep 4, 2015 7:53 PM - BryZad: how things been going for you
Sep 4, 2015 7:53 PM - Bigc: Screwing it down was the easy part

Sep 4, 2015 7:56 PM - BryZad: was talking to Jerry about the lead screw up grade and told him that i was at a expo here in AZ a sent him some pics
Sep 4, 2015 8:00 PM - PeterkSharma: Mg what's the new carriage for?
    Sep 4, 2015 8:00 PM - Mike Glass: for the V6
Sep 4, 2015 8:01 PM - Mike Glass: and blower fan
    Sep 4, 2015 8:02 PM - PeterkSharma: Aftermarket fan?
Sep 4, 2015 8:02 PM - Mike Glass: Trying to do it in abs, but my even abs slurry wont stick to the bed.
    Sep 4, 2015 8:03 PM - Mike Glass: yeah a 5015 blower fan
Sep 4, 2015 8:03 PM - Mike Glass: if you scroll up to around 3:53 PM in the chat there is a picture
Sep 4, 2015 8:06 PM - PeterkSharma: Have you had problems with abs sticks
Sep 4, 2015 8:07 PM - PeterkSharma: Or is this a new one
Sep 4, 2015 8:07 PM - Mike Glass: no pla dont even stick to my bed now, not sure what is going on, so I have been using frog tape, which works well but even with abs I get warpage.
Sep 4, 2015 8:09 PM - Mike Glass: So I may have to do tape and slurry, and brim.
Sep 4, 2015 8:09 PM - BryZad: mike do you know of a good way to join filament
Sep 4, 2015 8:11 PM - Mike Glass: hmm, pla?

Sep 4, 2015 8:12 PM - Bigc: does anybody know a good place online to get screws for mikes Xcarriage mod
    Sep 4, 2015 8:12 PM - donhuevo: mcmaster.com
    Sep 4, 2015 8:13 PM - Mike Glass: don
    Sep 4, 2015 8:13 PM - Bigc: thax

Sep 4, 2015 8:14 PM - donhuevo: time to clean it
Sep 4, 2015 8:15 PM - BryZad: never thought of super glue lol was always thinking of melting it
Sep 4, 2015 8:15 PM - Mike Glass: I clean it all the time
Sep 4, 2015 8:15 PM - PeterkSharma: Bry I melted the two and pushed them together
    Sep 4, 2015 8:15 PM - PeterkSharma: I used a lighter
Sep 4, 2015 8:15 PM - Mike Glass: acetone should clean it real good.
Sep 4, 2015 8:15 PM - PeterkSharma: Then rolled it to get an even filament
Sep 4, 2015 8:15 PM - donhuevo: are you still getting good smoosh on your first layer?
Sep 4, 2015 8:16 PM - BryZad: i think i might do the lighter trick
Sep 4, 2015 8:17 PM - Mike Glass: yea it have elephants foot
Sep 4, 2015 8:18 PM - donhuevo: and what are you cleaning with?
Sep 4, 2015 8:18 PM - PeterkSharma: Bry, if you are doing abs use acetone
Sep 4, 2015 8:19 PM - PeterkSharma: Melt 2 ends and same idea, push and roll
    Sep 4, 2015 8:20 PM - BryZad: using pla
Sep 4, 2015 8:20 PM - BryZad: the acetone would be awsome too
Sep 4, 2015 8:21 PM - Mike Glass: denatured alcohol mostly
Sep 4, 2015 8:21 PM - donhuevo: try scrubbing up with the acetone
Sep 4, 2015 8:24 PM - PeterkSharma: If I do an sla, is there and difference to making projector go from bottom or top?
    Sep 4, 2015 8:24 PM - PeterkSharma: Just a mirror correct?
Sep 4, 2015 8:28 PM - Mike Glass: ok scrubbed a dubbed, wiped on hairspray with a paper town, im going to use brim and start out at 90c on the bed.
    Sep 4, 2015 8:28 PM - Mike Glass: yep just a mirror
Sep 4, 2015 8:32 PM - PeterkSharma: What is the biggest bizz
    Sep 4, 2015 8:33 PM - PeterkSharma: Biggest nozzle for v6
Sep 4, 2015 8:33 PM - Mike Glass: sla on the way here, im repairing my dlp projector this weekend.

Sep 4, 2015 8:34 PM - Mike Glass: prolly top down, its a small projector
Sep 4, 2015 8:36 PM - PeterkSharma: Ou need thinner resin for that right?
Sep 4, 2015 8:41 PM - BryZad: well looks like a soldering iron work well and a neddle file to make my ouwn joiner
Sep 4, 2015 8:42 PM - PeterkSharma: Yeah melt and stick works well
    Sep 4, 2015 8:42 PM - PeterkSharma: I've had good luck
Sep 4, 2015 8:43 PM - PeterkSharma: Just watch out on the Ptfe tube to make sure you are within Tolerance so you don't get a jam
    Sep 4, 2015 8:44 PM - Mike Glass: http://richrap.blogspot.com/2011/06/multicolour-3d-prints-and-3mm-filament.html
Sep 4, 2015 8:46 PM - Bigc: Hey Has anyone built mikes XCarriage and if so do you know if there can be any variance on the hardware as far as the screws go
Sep 4, 2015 8:47 PM - Mike Glass: Think they are all m3 and M4
Sep 4, 2015 8:48 PM - Bigc: I mean Pan screws vs Hex cap
Sep 4, 2015 8:48 PM - Mike Glass: shouldnt matter
Sep 4, 2015 8:49 PM - Bigc: OK he has some listed as Pan and some as flat
Sep 4, 2015 8:51 PM - Bigc: O cool i just got an email from robo for the lead screws

Sep 4, 2015 8:55 PM - Mike Glass: waiting for my replacement
Sep 4, 2015 8:55 PM - PeterkSharma: I'd imagine all are shipped but they are taking their sweet time emailing out tracking numbers
Sep 4, 2015 8:55 PM - Mike Glass: haven't got an email yet
Sep 4, 2015 8:55 PM - Mike Glass: I was the first to report on the issue.

Sep 4, 2015 9:02 PM - Sims Reaper: think a fan shroud made from 910 will hold up?
    Sep 4, 2015 9:03 PM - Mike Glass: yea
Sep 4, 2015 9:03 PM - Sims Reaper: I've already made it, so we'll find out one way or another lol
Sep 4, 2015 9:04 PM - Mike Glass: I had abs one that was right up against the heater, it deformed a little but worked great.
Sep 4, 2015 9:04 PM - Bigc: MG I waited the better part of i want to say 3 months to get my replacement Hexagon Extruder when the original craped out on me well more on my prints then on me but then again they had a ton of them to replace
Sep 4, 2015 9:06 PM - Sims Reaper: this is the one i made, gets pretty close to the heater as well, but actually puts air on the partFan Shroud
Sep 4, 2015 9:08 PM - Sims Reaper: and so far the first PLA print with the shroud is night and day by comparison. I was having some pretty gnarly edge curling before, seems to be going much better
Sep 4, 2015 9:08 PM - Sims Reaper: I want my Glow in the Dark Marvin Keychain :)
Sep 4, 2015 9:09 PM - Mike Glass: Bigc, I ran into issues in getting stuff also for a couple months waiting on my x axis bars, then they finally came and they were worse then the ones I had.
Sep 4, 2015 9:11 PM - Mike Glass: so the sent another set, they were all rusty. luckily I bought some in the meantime on amazon, im still running them to this day, all I have all replacement parts now by my side.
Sep 4, 2015 9:12 PM - Mike Glass: thats the same reason why I ordered 2 sets of lead screws, I knew I might get 2 good ones out of it..lol
    Sep 4, 2015 9:13 PM - Mike Kelly: howdy
Sep 4, 2015 9:13 PM - Mike Glass: hey Mike
Sep 4, 2015 9:13 PM - Mike Kelly: how are things
Sep 4, 2015 9:15 PM - Bigc: Hey Mike with the Screws for the X Carrge mod does it matter if they are hexcap Vs Pan or Flat
    Sep 4, 2015 9:19 PM - BryZad: hey mike k
Sep 4, 2015 9:28 PM - bamhm182: Just started printing out some new fan shrouds for my printer after doing a serious bit of mods to it, and man is it awesome now
Sep 4, 2015 9:30 PM - bamhm182: Moved the wire for the bed heater/therm so it runs through the back, cut a giant hole in the bottom so my server fan is actually connected to it, replaced the hex with an E3D, redid all the wiring
Sep 4, 2015 9:30 PM - bamhm182: Even with the server fan, it is SO quiet due to the E3D v6 upgrade. That little 25mm fan was the loudest fan ever
Sep 4, 2015 9:32 PM - Mike Glass: 30mm on the v6 you wouldnt think that much difference in size would matter.
Sep 4, 2015 9:32 PM - Mike Glass: thats why im going blower fans on my parts.
Sep 4, 2015 9:32 PM - bamhm182: For a while I had my server fan sitting on a couple of foam weather lining strips that came with my dog door. It's actually attached to the bottom of the case now and even that knocked a LOT of noise off of the printer
Sep 4, 2015 9:33 PM - Mike Glass: you put the PS fan on the bottom like mine right?
Sep 4, 2015 9:33 PM - bamhm182: The new fan shroud that I'm printing out is the one Novice Expert made/uses. They look pretty nice and will fit the abundance of Noctua fans I have
Sep 4, 2015 9:33 PM - bamhm182: Yeah, one sec, I'll find a picture of my current bottom
    Sep 4, 2015 9:34 PM - Mike Glass: eww no thanks..haha
    Sep 4, 2015 9:34 PM - bamhm182: [IMG]
    Sep 4, 2015 9:34 PM - bamhm182: hah

Sep 4, 2015 9:35 PM - bamhm182: The wiring is still a bit meh, but it is very open over the board, and what's what my main goal was
Sep 4, 2015 9:35 PM - Mike Glass: christ that file is huge
Sep 4, 2015 9:35 PM - bamhm182: Haha, took it with my phone and didn't downscale it at all, my bad. :p
Sep 4, 2015 9:36 PM - Mike Glass: I need on more noctua fan for my ramps, the one I have now is a 60mm but its loud and unballanced
Sep 4, 2015 9:40 PM - bamhm182: I forget what the sizes are for my fans
    Sep 4, 2015 9:40 PM - bamhm182: What's stock on the bottom? 40mm?
Sep 4, 2015 9:42 PM - bamhm182: Even with that server fan, which is 60x60x40, replacing all the fans has given me a Robo that is quieter than stock
Sep 4, 2015 9:42 PM - Kevin Nguyen: so im looking for the firmware for the new leadscrew upgrade
Sep 4, 2015 9:42 PM - bamhm182: The server fan puts off something like 65 CFM too, but that's at 12V, I've got it running on 5
Sep 4, 2015 9:42 PM - Kevin Nguyen: and the guide's link is down
    Sep 4, 2015 9:43 PM - bamhm182: http://guide.robo3d.com/Wiki/ROBO_3D_Firmware_Release_Notes
Sep 4, 2015 9:44 PM - Kevin Nguyen: thanks bam
    Sep 4, 2015 9:45 PM - bamhm182: No problem
Sep 4, 2015 9:45 PM - Kevin Nguyen: so what fans are causing all the sound on the robo?
Sep 4, 2015 9:45 PM - Mike Glass: I have some server fans, 12 they do put out like 60-70 cfm effin crazy
Sep 4, 2015 9:45 PM - Kevin Nguyen: i know my hotend one is loud
Sep 4, 2015 9:45 PM - Mike Glass: all of them, but mostly the the hotend fan.
Sep 4, 2015 9:46 PM - bamhm182: The hotend one is god awful
Sep 4, 2015 9:46 PM - Mike Glass: My ps fan would scream for a few minutes when turned on.
Sep 4, 2015 9:46 PM - bamhm182: And if I had known how quiet the E3D v6 was, that in itself probably would have convinced me to upgrade long ago
Sep 4, 2015 9:46 PM - Mike Glass: thats when I decided to flip it, crap kept falling in it.
Sep 4, 2015 9:47 PM - bamhm182: But that would have been when I had the printer in my room
Sep 4, 2015 9:47 PM - bamhm182: Now that it's in the garage, noise doesn't really matter to me
Sep 4, 2015 9:47 PM - Mike Glass: I could sleep with however loud it is, I like sound when I go to sleep.
Sep 4, 2015 9:47 PM - Mike Glass: keeps the ringing toned down
Sep 4, 2015 9:48 PM - bamhm182: Yeah, I mean, I did fall asleep with it on a lot, the biggest issue for me was the light, which I made easy to turn off
    Sep 4, 2015 9:48 PM - bamhm182: But I like sound that doesn't fluctuate,the printer makes a lot of different noises
Sep 4, 2015 9:48 PM - Kevin Nguyen: i just pulled my lights out
Sep 4, 2015 9:48 PM - bamhm182: In my room, I always have my Vornado fan on
Sep 4, 2015 9:48 PM - Kevin Nguyen: i cant stand those blue lights
Sep 4, 2015 9:48 PM - Mike Glass: Yea im going to put switches on mine. turn them off when not streaming.
Sep 4, 2015 9:49 PM - Kevin Nguyen: going to do that rgb led upgrade for mine
Sep 4, 2015 9:49 PM - Mike Glass: those where gone right away, they look cool but look like crap for streaming.
Sep 4, 2015 9:49 PM - bamhm182: Yeah, the blue lights were pointless. I replaced them with some white lights and gave them a plug that I could disconnect easily
Sep 4, 2015 9:49 PM - bamhm182: Looks great when on, and easy to turn off
    Sep 4, 2015 9:49 PM - bamhm182: I love Novice Expert's LEDs
Sep 4, 2015 9:50 PM - Mike Glass: I like dons, he has on his carriage
    Sep 4, 2015 9:50 PM - bamhm182:
    Sep 4, 2015 9:50 PM - bamhm182: Oh yeah, don's look awesome too
    Sep 4, 2015 9:50 PM - Kevin Nguyen: havent seen don's
    Sep 4, 2015 9:50 PM - Kevin Nguyen: link?
    Sep 4, 2015 9:50 PM - bamhm182: He's got spotlights
    Sep 4, 2015 9:50 PM - bamhm182: I don't know where to find it
Sep 4, 2015 9:52 PM - Mike Glass: I ordered the same lights and controller, his does the same temp lights also.
    Sep 4, 2015 9:54 PM - bamhm182:
    Sep 4, 2015 9:54 PM - bamhm182: That kind of shows it
    Sep 4, 2015 9:55 PM - bamhm182: [IMG]
Sep 4, 2015 9:56 PM - Mike Glass: that video makes me sick,
Sep 4, 2015 9:56 PM - bamhm182: You know what video really messes with you? One sec, it's one of don's that I just ran across
    Sep 4, 2015 9:57 PM - bamhm182:
    Sep 4, 2015 9:57 PM - bamhm182: I think the camera must be auto-focusing or something.
Sep 4, 2015 9:59 PM - Mike Glass: THink it was processed on youtubes jitter control, thats what it will do.
    Sep 4, 2015 10:04 PM - bamhm182: Fair enough
Sep 4, 2015 10:04 PM - bamhm182: Either way, it bugs my brain
    Sep 4, 2015 10:06 PM - Mike Glass:
    Sep 4, 2015 10:07 PM - bamhm182: Printing it with a raft?
    Sep 4, 2015 10:07 PM - bamhm182: http://bambuser.com/v/5768969
Sep 4, 2015 10:07 PM - bamhm182: My printer is deep down in a grungy basement, haha
    Sep 4, 2015 10:08 PM - Mike Glass: brim
    Sep 4, 2015 10:08 PM - Mike Glass: 2 layer brim
    Sep 4, 2015 10:09 PM - bamhm182: What's a raft then?
Sep 4, 2015 10:09 PM - bamhm182: Is a raft basically the same thing, but not solid?
Sep 4, 2015 10:12 PM - Mike Glass: just starts on the outside to hold it down better
Sep 4, 2015 10:12 PM - Mike Glass: you can set what distance and how many layers you want, works really good for abs
    Sep 4, 2015 10:13 PM - bamhm182: https://www.simplify3d.com/support/tutorials/rafts-skirts-and-brims/
Sep 4, 2015 10:13 PM - bamhm182: Found that, seems useful, I could never get them to work right
Sep 4, 2015 10:14 PM - Mike Glass: no warpage yet at least, this is the 3rd time printing it.
Sep 4, 2015 10:14 PM - bamhm182: Then again, I was trying it with Mater Control, not S3D
Sep 4, 2015 10:14 PM - Mike Glass: I use rafts for the puzzle chair I have been printing.
Sep 4, 2015 10:15 PM - bamhm182: They would always stick to the print too much and end up ruining it for me
Sep 4, 2015 10:15 PM - Mike Glass: brim works really good on tall skinny objects really nice.

Sep 4, 2015 10:15 PM - Kevin Nguyen: if you want a link for s3d message me lol
Sep 4, 2015 10:15 PM - bamhm182: A handful of my earlier prints have a lattice pattern on the side that was originally touching the raft, just because I couldn't get them off
    Sep 4, 2015 10:16 PM - bamhm182: I bought S3D a long time ago. Such good, what worth, wow
Sep 4, 2015 10:16 PM - Mike Glass: there are smooth rafts that it just peals right off.
    Sep 4, 2015 10:16 PM - Kevin Nguyen: i never tried the s3d rafts
    Sep 4, 2015 10:16 PM - bamhm182: Maybe I should give them another try
Sep 4, 2015 10:16 PM - Kevin Nguyen: what version are you on?
    Sep 4, 2015 10:17 PM - Kevin Nguyen: 3. what?
Sep 4, 2015 10:17 PM - Mike Glass: I heard the newer version is screwy
Sep 4, 2015 10:18 PM - Kevin Nguyen: im on 3.0.0 and im doing alright with it. last time i updates was from 2.2.0
Sep 4, 2015 10:21 PM - Bigc: Well i am calling it Night

    Sep 4, 2015 10:21 PM - bamhm182: I haven't had any issues with it
    Sep 4, 2015 10:21 PM - bamhm182: I am on 3.0.2 or something
    Sep 4, 2015 10:21 PM - bamhm182: night, Bigc
Sep 4, 2015 10:21 PM - Kevin Nguyen: yeah i think thaqts the most recent one

Sep 5, 2015 5:47 AM - Mike Glass: thats a funky looking lake
Sep 5, 2015 5:48 AM - Bill Monroe: it is :) but it's an awesome ride around it 5.3 miles
    Sep 5, 2015 5:48 AM - Bill Monroe: it's a resevoir made 100 years ago... water supply
Sep 5, 2015 5:49 AM - Bill Monroe: dam up a canyon.. presto
Sep 5, 2015 5:50 AM - Bill Monroe: when I was a kid there was nothing anywhere near it.. great place for overnighting with the girlfreind
    Sep 5, 2015 5:53 AM - Bill Monroe:
Sep 5, 2015 5:56 AM - Mike Glass: what you building now?
Sep 5, 2015 5:56 AM - Bill Monroe: according to Harry, the last part needed for the right arm
Sep 5, 2015 5:59 AM - Mike Glass: thats some strange infill
Sep 5, 2015 5:59 AM - Bill Monroe: heh ya. like like that?
Sep 5, 2015 6:00 AM - Mike Glass: how did you do that
Sep 5, 2015 6:00 AM - Bill Monroe: I've been using the robbie parts to experiment with
Sep 5, 2015 6:00 AM - Bill Monroe: made some triangular cavities
Sep 5, 2015 6:00 AM - Bill Monroe: thought I'd see if it would help.. not really that much
Sep 5, 2015 6:01 AM - Bill Monroe: of course, since this part was just a box, I had to festoon the surfaces with adornments
Sep 5, 2015 6:02 AM - Mike Glass: is that the hex or v6 on there
    Sep 5, 2015 6:03 AM - Bill Monroe: V6
Sep 5, 2015 6:03 AM - Mike Glass: the heatblock is turned?
Sep 5, 2015 6:04 AM - Bill Monroe: uhh well I dunno if there's a specific way to install it.. i just put it on.
Sep 5, 2015 6:05 AM - Bill Monroe: routed the wires safely.. that was about all I was concerned with
Sep 5, 2015 6:05 AM - Mike Glass: doesnt block the fan?
Sep 5, 2015 6:05 AM - Bill Monroe: not at all
Sep 5, 2015 6:05 AM - Mike Glass: just the stock one right?
    Sep 5, 2015 6:06 AM - Bill Monroe: yup
    Sep 5, 2015 6:06 AM - Mike Glass: why not run 2?
Sep 5, 2015 6:06 AM - Bill Monroe: there's a host of problems running duals.. not worth it
    Sep 5, 2015 6:06 AM - Bill Monroe: on a robo anyway
    Sep 5, 2015 6:07 AM - Mike Glass: i meant 2 fans
    Sep 5, 2015 6:07 AM - Bill Monroe: OH!
Sep 5, 2015 6:07 AM - Bill Monroe: not needed
Sep 5, 2015 6:07 AM - Bill Monroe: and iut would block my view of the nozzle :)
Sep 5, 2015 6:08 AM - Bill Monroe: ive been running the same exact tip for 6 months now.
Sep 5, 2015 6:08 AM - Mike Glass: got my new carriage printed out, now have to work on the blower fan for the parts.
    Sep 5, 2015 6:10 AM - Bill Monroe: nice
Sep 5, 2015 6:11 AM - Bill Monroe: I believe I now have the solution for running duals with quality results, but it wont fit on the robo so I'm going to deploy it my next machine
Sep 5, 2015 6:11 AM - Mike Glass: even with 2 layers of brim I got a little warpage, the brim didnt warp though..lol
Sep 5, 2015 6:11 AM - Bill Monroe: but this weekend, it's all about wiring the router
Sep 5, 2015 6:12 AM - Bill Monroe: what material?
Sep 5, 2015 6:12 AM - Mike Glass: hatchbox abs
    Sep 5, 2015 6:12 AM - Bill Monroe: ah
Sep 5, 2015 6:13 AM - Mike Glass: that was on the glass no tape this time.
Sep 5, 2015 6:13 AM - Bill Monroe: all the pro machines use a raft of peelable material to prevent ABS from lifting
Sep 5, 2015 6:13 AM - Mike Glass: I started the print, for some reason my offsets are not working so in S3d i use the control to take it down another .02 then it looked smooshed.
Sep 5, 2015 6:14 AM - Mike Glass: didnt know you could do that with the control panel
    Sep 5, 2015 6:15 AM - Bill Monroe: yup :)
Sep 5, 2015 6:15 AM - Bill Monroe: S3D is worth every sheckel
Sep 5, 2015 6:15 AM - Mike Glass: I suppose a encloser would help as well, I ran the bed at 90 for the first 3mm then to 80
Sep 5, 2015 6:16 AM - Bill Monroe: an enclosure would help, but to get hot enough to ba a solution would hurt all the RoboPlastis
Sep 5, 2015 6:16 AM - Mike Glass: yea no doubt.
Sep 5, 2015 6:16 AM - Bill Monroe: even more so for Polycarbonate
Sep 5, 2015 6:16 AM - Mike Glass: here is my project for today. [IMG]
    Sep 5, 2015 6:17 AM - Bill Monroe: cute.. what's it for?
Sep 5, 2015 6:17 AM - Mike Glass: for a game room, they are really popular
Sep 5, 2015 6:17 AM - Bill Monroe: indeed.. CNC job?
    Sep 5, 2015 6:18 AM - Mike Glass: yup
    Sep 5, 2015 6:18 AM - Mike Glass: they are about 12"
    Sep 5, 2015 6:18 AM - Bill Monroe: nice
Sep 5, 2015 6:19 AM - Mike Glass: got it all ready now I just have to make room in my shop to cut the 4x8 sheet, I really need a panel saw.
Sep 5, 2015 6:19 AM - Bill Monroe: ya know.. I had some of that ColorFabb PLA/PHA back when I was hex-ing it.. wasnt impressed.. today I thought I'd used the last of it up on this robbie part and it's running beautifully
Sep 5, 2015 6:20 AM - Mike Glass: yea, im not happy with the hex, just because I cant even run my taulman nylon.
Sep 5, 2015 6:20 AM - donhuevo: I set up my own panel saw with a pair of clamps and a 4foot level
Sep 5, 2015 6:20 AM - Bill Monroe: my table saw is a special, now rare, variant called a "pattern saw" I have a monster acrylic-topped table built around it to handle sheets
Sep 5, 2015 6:21 AM - Bill Monroe: panel saws arent all that accurate
Sep 5, 2015 6:21 AM - Mike Glass: im talking like the ones they use at like lowes or home depot
Sep 5, 2015 6:21 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, me too
    Sep 5, 2015 6:21 AM - donhuevo: yep
    Sep 5, 2015 6:21 AM - Mike Glass: donny
    Sep 5, 2015 6:22 AM - donhuevo: morning
    Sep 5, 2015 6:22 AM - Bill Monroe: don
Sep 5, 2015 6:22 AM - Mike Glass: 3 times a charm don, go the sucker printed last night

    Sep 5, 2015 6:22 AM - donhuevo: yay!
Sep 5, 2015 6:22 AM - Mike Glass: still effin warped a little but nothing noticable.
Sep 5, 2015 6:24 AM - donhuevo: how soon til a test print with it?
Sep 5, 2015 6:25 AM - Mike Glass: still waiting on my ptfe and finishing up the flint extruder.
Sep 5, 2015 6:28 AM - donhuevo: I got both my new base brackets printed last night
Sep 5, 2015 6:28 AM - Mike Glass: what do you have left
Sep 5, 2015 6:30 AM - donhuevo: I didn't bother with z switches on the idlers figuring I'd solve the carriage probe. So I still have to finish a carriage for it.
    Sep 5, 2015 6:31 AM - donhuevo: oh and a dict
Sep 5, 2015 6:31 AM - Mike Glass: yea dict for me too,
Sep 5, 2015 6:34 AM - donhuevo: I had to order some oddball screws I didn't have from McMaster. Did that yesterday so probably won't see them til the middle of next week
Sep 5, 2015 6:37 AM - jbigler1986: Well i believe the bondtech may end up having my name on it if this drive gear im about to try doesnt work
    Sep 5, 2015 6:38 AM - donhuevo: morning jb
    Sep 5, 2015 6:38 AM - jbigler1986: Morning. Fucking extruders.
Sep 5, 2015 6:38 AM - donhuevo: if you're getting one bondtech, you should get two
    Sep 5, 2015 6:43 AM - jbigler1986: Yep
    Sep 5, 2015 6:50 AM - Bill Monroe: jb
    Sep 5, 2015 6:51 AM - WheresWaldo: Morning
    Sep 5, 2015 6:51 AM - Bill Monroe: wally
    Sep 5, 2015 6:52 AM - WheresWaldo: Billy
Sep 5, 2015 6:52 AM - WheresWaldo: JB and Don
Sep 5, 2015 6:52 AM - WheresWaldo: Or maybe Willy?
    Sep 5, 2015 6:53 AM - Bill Monroe: i've been called that
    Sep 5, 2015 6:53 AM - Bill Monroe: 2.0 calls me Liam
    Sep 5, 2015 6:53 AM - Bill Monroe: i'll answer to almost anything :)
Sep 5, 2015 6:53 AM - WheresWaldo: My grandfather was named William, half called him Bill and the other called him Bud
Sep 5, 2015 6:55 AM - WheresWaldo: Anything interesting this morning?
Sep 5, 2015 6:55 AM - Bill Monroe: ya my proper name is William also.. my family calls me will.. work calls me Bill.. 2.0 started calling my Liam to be different and it's the common shortening of william where her family comes from
Sep 5, 2015 6:55 AM - Bill Monroe: just printing more robbie parts for me
Sep 5, 2015 6:56 AM - donhuevo: mg's bed may need an exorcism
Sep 5, 2015 6:56 AM - WheresWaldo: I am about to do a test with Alloy910, need to find the right extrusion temp.
    Sep 5, 2015 6:56 AM - WheresWaldo: So what's this about Mikey's bed?
Sep 5, 2015 6:57 AM - Bill Monroe: has he be spinning his head all the way around again??
Sep 5, 2015 6:57 AM - donhuevo: everything is afraid to stick to it now
Sep 5, 2015 6:58 AM - WheresWaldo: Does he ever clean it?
Sep 5, 2015 6:58 AM - donhuevo: he says often
    Sep 5, 2015 6:58 AM - Bill Monroe: he's got bed bugs
    Sep 5, 2015 6:59 AM - donhuevo: we need a priest
Sep 5, 2015 6:59 AM - Printed Solid: I think I used 250 on the hex with good results for the 910.
Sep 5, 2015 6:59 AM - Printed Solid: Needed to go to 260 on the replicator 2X.
    Sep 5, 2015 6:59 AM - Bill Monroe: Matt-the-Lurker
    Sep 5, 2015 7:00 AM - Printed Solid: I'm not a lurker, I'm a random pop in.
Sep 5, 2015 7:00 AM - Printed Solid: and pop out.
Sep 5, 2015 7:00 AM - Printed Solid: good morning.
Sep 5, 2015 7:01 AM - Bill Monroe: matt, the V6 can handle PC, yes?
Sep 5, 2015 7:01 AM - WheresWaldo: Thanks Matt, also going to recheck the shrinkage. I think is should be somewhere around PETG.
Sep 5, 2015 7:02 AM - Printed Solid: good idea.
Sep 5, 2015 7:02 AM - Printed Solid: It can Bill, but keep the thermistor in mind. Stock is only good up to 285. The old stud is good to 265, new one to 280.
    Sep 5, 2015 7:02 AM - Bill Monroe: bah, I'll put a K in it :)
Sep 5, 2015 7:03 AM - Printed Solid: that will do it.
Sep 5, 2015 7:03 AM - WheresWaldo: I'll start at 260, have a E3Dv6, I use the LCD to adjust downward during the print about every 5 mm
Sep 5, 2015 7:03 AM - Bill Monroe: i was mainly curious on how the teeny little heater cartridge would hold up
Sep 5, 2015 7:03 AM - Printed Solid: heater cartridge will be fine.
    Sep 5, 2015 7:03 AM - Bill Monroe: great then I'm a go
    Sep 5, 2015 7:04 AM - Bill Monroe: thx
Sep 5, 2015 7:04 AM - Printed Solid: thank you.
Sep 5, 2015 7:04 AM - Printed Solid: have fun with it.
    Sep 5, 2015 7:04 AM - Printed Solid: whereswaldo, I use a similar process.
Sep 5, 2015 7:14 AM - NFOsec: illia, willi, at least you have more options.
Sep 5, 2015 7:15 AM - Bill Monroe: Sir, your airworthiness... they all work
Sep 5, 2015 7:17 AM - Bill Monroe: My favorite one is Dad
Sep 5, 2015 7:17 AM - Bill Monroe: but too often with was followed by, can I have some money :)
    Sep 5, 2015 7:29 AM - jbigler1986: i give up on it for now
Sep 5, 2015 7:35 AM - NFOsec: Bill: Whew, had me worried... airworthlessness was what I read.
Sep 5, 2015 7:35 AM - NFOsec: curious, what are you using for streaming Vids?
    Sep 5, 2015 7:35 AM - Bill Monroe: my computer :)
Sep 5, 2015 7:35 AM - Bill Monroe: software: Xsplit
    Sep 5, 2015 7:36 AM - NFOsec: Ah. cool.
Sep 5, 2015 7:36 AM - NFOsec: funny, at the rate you're going, they are going to have a Robbie Rultiplyer and end up with a full family.
Sep 5, 2015 7:37 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, I dunno how much anyone else is doing.. I do know that they are just now getting around to sectioning up the chest and head
Sep 5, 2015 7:37 AM - Bill Monroe: I got a hunch there's a few machines cranking out parts at headquarters
Sep 5, 2015 7:38 AM - Bill Monroe: I should jump in the Model A and go peek in thier windows
Sep 5, 2015 7:38 AM - NFOsec: I asked for and received a part - RA18. folks were all complaining why I got the small part. :)
Sep 5, 2015 7:39 AM - jbigler1986: going to have to go back to direct drive to print extruders. booooooo
Sep 5, 2015 7:39 AM - Bill Monroe: this is the smallest one I've done
Sep 5, 2015 7:39 AM - NFOsec: my neighbor is just about finished with a full restore of a 1936 Chevy truck. this guy keeps his garage like a class 5 clean room.
    Sep 5, 2015 7:39 AM - Bill Monroe: that's a sick man
    Sep 5, 2015 7:40 AM - Bill Monroe: I have a 59 truck
Sep 5, 2015 7:40 AM - NFOsec: no kidding. AND his wife painted (she's a trained mechanic/fox) it IN the garage.
Sep 5, 2015 7:40 AM - Bill Monroe: to go with my 59 plane :)
Sep 5, 2015 7:40 AM - NFOsec: that kills me.
Sep 5, 2015 7:40 AM - NFOsec: I'll have to sneak over sometime this weekend and grab a pic. you'd be shocked.
Sep 5, 2015 7:40 AM - Bill Monroe: i live in SoCal, no car shocks me
Sep 5, 2015 7:41 AM - NFOsec: lol, true that. forgot about that.
    Sep 5, 2015 7:41 AM - jbigler1986: trailer queen cars/trucks. what is the point
Sep 5, 2015 7:41 AM - Bill Monroe: once you've seen Leno pull up in a custom monster with a V-16 Tank engine..
Sep 5, 2015 7:41 AM - NFOsec: used to dig my life in Redwood City/SanJ.
Sep 5, 2015 7:42 AM - Bill Monroe: my cars dont ride on trailers you jealous midwesterner :)
Sep 5, 2015 7:42 AM - NFOsec: HA. nice one.
    Sep 5, 2015 7:42 AM - NFOsec: they don't belong on trailers.
    Sep 5, 2015 7:42 AM - jbigler1986: not you Bill
Sep 5, 2015 7:44 AM - NFOsec: so, I'm going to see if I can retrofit my Robo3D R1 +plus model to use the same laser filament sensor I did on my ZenbotCNC, last night did a print, not realizing that it ended up about 2" inches high and no filament extruded. skipped. easier to catch it and backtrack than not.
    Sep 5, 2015 7:44 AM - Bill Monroe: [IMG]
Sep 5, 2015 7:45 AM - NFOsec: now that there is a purdy truck.
Sep 5, 2015 7:45 AM - NFOsec: left stock suspension? I figured you'd have that bad boy at least 9-13" off the ground. :)
    Sep 5, 2015 7:45 AM - NFOsec: b-u-tea-full
    Sep 5, 2015 7:46 AM - Bill Monroe: no.. it's got a mustang front
    Sep 5, 2015 7:46 AM - Bill Monroe: lowered it 4"
    Sep 5, 2015 7:46 AM - Bill Monroe: [IMG]
Sep 5, 2015 7:46 AM - NFOsec: much better to be lowered. helps old people like you get out right? :)
Sep 5, 2015 7:47 AM - Bill Monroe: it actually has interior running boards.. my mom can get in it

Sep 5, 2015 7:47 AM - NFOsec: nice, included your own diplomacy flags?
Sep 5, 2015 7:47 AM - Bill Monroe: it was parade day :)
Sep 5, 2015 7:47 AM - NFOsec: that looks like velveet?
    Sep 5, 2015 7:47 AM - NFOsec: a. :)
    Sep 5, 2015 7:47 AM - Bill Monroe: brushed wool.. original :)
Sep 5, 2015 7:49 AM - Bill Monroe: the truck has mag wheels on it now.. i never liked that chrome look
    Sep 5, 2015 7:50 AM - Bill Monroe: back in a bit
    Sep 5, 2015 7:54 AM - NFOsec: cool. l8r.
Sep 5, 2015 7:54 AM - Mike Glass: I think the problem with my prints not sticking to the bed is that z offset doesnt seem to change even if I change it by .1, but I cant even get abs slurry to stick.
Sep 5, 2015 7:55 AM - Mike Glass: maybe scratch it up with a pad of some sort see what happens.
Sep 5, 2015 7:55 AM - donhuevo: it never needed scratches before. dont do it
Sep 5, 2015 7:55 AM - donhuevo: fix the problem, not the system
    Sep 5, 2015 7:55 AM - donhuevo: symptom
    Sep 5, 2015 8:00 AM - jbigler1986: don
    Sep 5, 2015 8:00 AM - donhuevo: yes sir
Sep 5, 2015 8:01 AM - jbigler1986: any ideas going dual direct drive?
    Sep 5, 2015 8:01 AM - donhuevo: none whatsoever
Sep 5, 2015 8:02 AM - donhuevo: mikey has the solution for that I think
Sep 5, 2015 8:02 AM - donhuevo: but dragging two steppers around the carriage? why?
    Sep 5, 2015 8:02 AM - jbigler1986: or got any good extruders?
Sep 5, 2015 8:04 AM - donhuevo: what about Mike's dual GW bowden setup?
Sep 5, 2015 8:04 AM - Mike Glass: what wrong with gregs wade exturder like you had before.
Sep 5, 2015 8:04 AM - jbigler1986: bearings on the idler keep getting pressed against the extruder causing skipping. if i solve that problem then the filament buckles
Sep 5, 2015 8:05 AM - jbigler1986: it grinds the hell out of the filament where there is a lot of retraction going on
Sep 5, 2015 8:05 AM - Mike Glass: take of retraction
    Sep 5, 2015 8:05 AM - Mike Glass: off
    Sep 5, 2015 8:05 AM - jbigler1986: ha. then it's a ooze mess
    Sep 5, 2015 8:05 AM - jbigler1986: i like this idea http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:106147
    Sep 5, 2015 8:06 AM - jbigler1986: however. i have 0 skills to build a carriage for it
    Sep 5, 2015 8:06 AM - donhuevo: a 20lb carriage
    Sep 5, 2015 8:07 AM - jbigler1986: hell yeah
Sep 5, 2015 8:07 AM - jbigler1986: not thinking speed at all right now
Sep 5, 2015 8:08 AM - jbigler1986: maybe dual direct and not using a gregs
    Sep 5, 2015 8:09 AM - donhuevo: I like it... dual geared steppers. a 30lb carriage
    Sep 5, 2015 8:09 AM - jbigler1986: not using the geared steppers
Sep 5, 2015 8:10 AM - donhuevo: well, if you're going to print super-slow, you don't really need the leverage I guess
Sep 5, 2015 8:11 AM - jbigler1986: i printed fine at like 60 with 1 direct before. then wanted to go the bowden route which has been a fucking mess
Sep 5, 2015 8:12 AM - jbigler1986: so thinking of seeing how dual direct would work. it might be a total fail as well
Sep 5, 2015 8:12 AM - NFOsec: well, remember the rule, if it wasn't broken, don't blame greg.
    Sep 5, 2015 8:12 AM - jbigler1986: i blame myself for breaking it
Sep 5, 2015 8:12 AM - NFOsec: yeah, been there, done that.
Sep 5, 2015 8:13 AM - donhuevo: I have no problem sharing my extruder but there are some oddball parts in it you'd have to source
Sep 5, 2015 8:14 AM - NFOsec: I remember way back when during the first week I got my laser, I got "confident" and left for 5 minutes in the middle of a engrave cycle which finished before I could blink and went to cut, had too high of power and started a fire.
Sep 5, 2015 8:14 AM - NFOsec: Good grief donhuevo, tha sounds trashy coming from you.
    Sep 5, 2015 8:15 AM - donhuevo: I'm a trashy guy
Sep 5, 2015 8:15 AM - NFOsec: melted the airhose, sooted the lens and burned off the laser pointer as well as an internal light.
Sep 5, 2015 8:15 AM - NFOsec: "sharing your extruder".
Sep 5, 2015 8:16 AM - Mike Glass: Jb I have been running 90mm/s on mine now with the jerk & accel settings, sucker moves good now.
Sep 5, 2015 8:17 AM - NFOsec: So, who here is printing dual with a Robo3D and what are you using? I've seen lots of talk of different things.
Sep 5, 2015 8:17 AM - Mike Glass: MK is the only one really
    Sep 5, 2015 8:17 AM - donhuevo: [IMG]
Sep 5, 2015 8:18 AM - Mike Glass: what kind of cracker box is that?
    Sep 5, 2015 8:18 AM - donhuevo: exactly
Sep 5, 2015 8:18 AM - NFOsec: so, feeder system looks interesting.
Sep 5, 2015 8:19 AM - donhuevo: added that linkage so half the lever throw moves the bearing against the filament and the rest compresses the spring. Hands free filament loading
    Sep 5, 2015 8:20 AM - jbigler1986: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:746497 hmm. 2 of these bad boys on MK's modular carriage
Sep 5, 2015 8:21 AM - donhuevo: dude signed it
    Sep 5, 2015 8:22 AM - jbigler1986: bastard
    Sep 5, 2015 8:22 AM - Mike Glass: I hate that shit
    Sep 5, 2015 8:22 AM - jbigler1986: nothing i can't fix
Sep 5, 2015 8:22 AM - Mike Glass: squinty is taking off again don.:)
    Sep 5, 2015 8:22 AM - donhuevo: love it!
Sep 5, 2015 8:24 AM - Mike Glass: damn over 3k views on my thingivers in 30 days. thats crazy
Sep 5, 2015 8:24 AM - donhuevo: mostly for squinty?
Sep 5, 2015 8:25 AM - jbigler1986: alright. gonna go get some bearings then dive into this tonight. got some other stuff to build today
    Sep 5, 2015 8:26 AM - Mike Glass: 580 for squinty
Sep 5, 2015 8:26 AM - NFOsec: what did you make Mike?
    Sep 5, 2015 8:26 AM - NFOsec: I can make it 3001?
    Sep 5, 2015 8:26 AM - donhuevo: impressive
    Sep 5, 2015 8:26 AM - Mike Glass: http://www.thingiverse.com/coolreactions/designs
Sep 5, 2015 8:28 AM - Mike Glass: my hands are so cold when I touched the card im print out, it pops and crackles..lol
    Sep 5, 2015 8:28 AM - NFOsec: Fine, I'll follow you.
Sep 5, 2015 8:29 AM - NFOsec: cold as ice..
Sep 5, 2015 8:29 AM - Mike Glass: was 45 here this morning
Sep 5, 2015 8:33 AM - donhuevo: I think our low last night was 70
Sep 5, 2015 8:34 AM - Mike Glass: [IMG] template for spray painting our logo.
Sep 5, 2015 8:35 AM - donhuevo: might be a good thing you decided not to spell out innovation
Sep 5, 2015 8:36 AM - Mike Glass: is that what it stands for?
Sep 5, 2015 8:37 AM - NFOsec: mmm. in Wisconsin, was 78 in my area. going to be a hot and humid day today so I pushed a photo op for tomorrow which turns out will be just as bad.
Sep 5, 2015 8:37 AM - NFOsec: laser cutting that template?
Sep 5, 2015 8:38 AM - Mike Glass: Not yet, that is 3d printed.
Sep 5, 2015 8:39 AM - Mike Glass: Going to get a laser for the cnc.
Sep 5, 2015 8:39 AM - NFOsec: cool. I actually used CNC with a micro 3/16 engraving tip against some food grade plastic to engrave out a custom mold for a candy bar, turns out I could actually print a suitable quality with the Taulman bridge at a slower speed.
Sep 5, 2015 8:39 AM - NFOsec: I thought about that, instead ended up going with a standalone. didn't trust my fingers., :)
Sep 5, 2015 8:40 AM - Mike Glass: what do you have?
Sep 5, 2015 8:42 AM - NFOsec: Actually I bought a 50w CO2 Shenhui SH350 (those "chinese" lasers) you see on eBay, etc. I created a pin table with the CNC (nice uniform drilling and RivNuts for pins), got a separate honeycomb and rulered the edges, works as good if not better than my friend's Eipilog 40w system. Profile is a lot bigger though, but doesn't bother me.
Sep 5, 2015 8:42 AM - Mike Glass: How much did you spend.
Sep 5, 2015 8:43 AM - NFOsec: I didn't have auto-focus on this, so I created one. Put a bunch of NEMA 23s on the threaded table to raise-lower mechanically.
Sep 5, 2015 8:44 AM - NFOsec: At the time, probably around $1390 with shipping included. It's gone up about 2-300 since
Sep 5, 2015 8:45 AM - NFOsec: the 40w desktop version is greater for smaller things and maybe close to 1/4" but more for 1/8 inch or lessor cutting and anything for engraving (of course except metal, only anodized alum or Cermark treated)
Sep 5, 2015 8:46 AM - NFOsec: I'd love to go with a 100w or higher, FARO type stuff, but ugh the price tag goes to the tens of thousands. Sure, it'd be easy to recuperate the costs with the business you could do, but comeon!
Sep 5, 2015 8:47 AM - NFOsec: epilog is the "gold standard" in the U.S. (made and sold) and many others rapidly follow close but have some great disparity in options included vs. options costing you.
Sep 5, 2015 8:47 AM - NFOsec: 8-9k for 40w Epilog, $1200 for a replacement laser tube, but the key is they don't have a water cooling system that most of the cheaper ones use.
Sep 5, 2015 8:48 AM - NFOsec: anyone using GoPro for live feed on their Robo3D? Looking for a decent arm/mount, otherwise I'll have to make osme type of swing-arm mount.
Sep 5, 2015 9:01 AM - Bill Monroe: i'm sure thingiverse will have something
Sep 5, 2015 9:02 AM - Bill Monroe: gopro/sports cameras have too wide a viewing area though.. distorts a lot a close distances
Sep 5, 2015 9:03 AM - Bill Monroe: never understood the gopro hype.. HD170 is much less expensive, more versatile, with same pic quality
Sep 5, 2015 9:05 AM - NFOsec: Actually, you can set the angles by mode, but I've got more choices than I can count for the camera.
Sep 5, 2015 9:05 AM - NFOsec: yeah, I saw one or two items, wasn't as appealing, but I think I'm going to do a mount that has a door hinge to swing outwards and mount it from the side like the stock Robo3D spool holder is. I'm printing a top-offset spool loader now.
    Sep 5, 2015 9:06 AM - NFOsec: one part to go. :)

Sep 5, 2015 9:06 AM - Mike Kelly: Morning gents
    Sep 5, 2015 9:06 AM - Bill Monroe:
    Sep 5, 2015 9:06 AM - NFOsec: top-o-the-morning to you Mike Kelly.
Sep 5, 2015 9:07 AM - NFOsec: that's not bad. You'd be better with breakaways. lol.
    Sep 5, 2015 9:07 AM - Mike Glass: mikey
Sep 5, 2015 9:08 AM - NFOsec: My FA-18 Hornet that I built (radio controlled version mind you) had elevator retraction, I thought it would be better to have fold back since if one failed, at least you could do is belly skid.
    Sep 5, 2015 9:08 AM - Bill Monroe: break a whats?
Sep 5, 2015 9:08 AM - NFOsec: breakaway -- disposable wheels. I know that's a bad joke considering your expertise in the field.
Sep 5, 2015 9:09 AM - NFOsec: just drop them after take off.
    Sep 5, 2015 9:09 AM - Bill Monroe: expensive
    Sep 5, 2015 9:09 AM - Bill Monroe: and quite illegal :)
Sep 5, 2015 9:09 AM - NFOsec: yeah, I know, but if the space shuttle can drop a toilet from the sky, why can't I -- Dr. Seuss.
Sep 5, 2015 9:15 AM - NFOsec: For feeder stuff, I think too many systems out there have too much wheels, gears, bells and whistles.
Sep 5, 2015 9:15 AM - NFOsec: this was the simplest form I knew of.
    Sep 5, 2015 9:15 AM - NFOsec: https://www.dropbox.com/sc/47hy64457agc110/AACa_2CQtT3fSxIKDgqdiPeGa
Sep 5, 2015 9:18 AM - Mike Kelly: that extruder is so huge
Sep 5, 2015 9:20 AM - donhuevo: you make it too easy mike. I can't because it was so blatent
    Sep 5, 2015 9:21 AM - Mike Kelly: haah
Sep 5, 2015 9:22 AM - NFOsec: actually, the measurements are: 3.25" high from feeder tip to hot end, 2.5" deep, and 4.25" long (the stepper motor is mounted at the end thus the reason).
    Sep 5, 2015 9:23 AM - Mike Kelly: like i said, huge :)
Sep 5, 2015 9:23 AM - NFOsec: however, I'd say out of at least 1500+ prints give or take 500 I've never had a clog.
Sep 5, 2015 9:23 AM - NFOsec: looking through my regular glasses view it's fine, bifocals give it edge. :)
Sep 5, 2015 9:23 AM - NFOsec: but thank you.
Sep 5, 2015 9:24 AM - NFOsec: the hot end is actually about 2" long (shaft goes all the way up and takes less than 10 seconds to remove and replace).
Sep 5, 2015 9:24 AM - Mike Kelly: so actually quick release
Sep 5, 2015 9:25 AM - Mike Glass: what does that go too?
Sep 5, 2015 9:25 AM - NFOsec: vs. just a brass tip, probably why. the fan as you can see is mounted directly to the hotend area, but no "heat" gets there since it disapates prior to and directed only to the hotend.
    Sep 5, 2015 9:25 AM - NFOsec: yeah.
Sep 5, 2015 9:25 AM - NFOsec: I bought that and put it on my CNC table.
Sep 5, 2015 9:26 AM - Mike Glass: for cnc that is lightweight
Sep 5, 2015 9:26 AM - Mike Kelly: have you ever measured the temperature of the fan mount during operation?
Sep 5, 2015 9:26 AM - Mike Kelly: i just can't believe that it wouldn't be super hot
Sep 5, 2015 9:26 AM - NFOsec: perhaps, but this unit is pretty light. I created a raprep before going the route of Robo, it's not heavy as one would think.
Sep 5, 2015 9:27 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm sure it's quite light, it just is not very compact
    Sep 5, 2015 9:27 AM - NFOsec: yeah, doesn't even get near 40c.
Sep 5, 2015 9:27 AM - Mike Kelly: hard to fit
Sep 5, 2015 9:27 AM - NFOsec: near the bottom.
Sep 5, 2015 9:27 AM - Mike Kelly: i wonder how it would in a sealed chamber
Sep 5, 2015 9:27 AM - NFOsec: well, they have bowden variations and other layouts where the stepper is on top which is how I would like it to be.
Sep 5, 2015 9:28 AM - Mike Kelly: i guess it uses a pretty big fan
Sep 5, 2015 9:29 AM - Mike Kelly: though i shudder a bit that you use a twist connector
    Sep 5, 2015 9:29 AM - NFOsec: remember, that was a retrofit.
Sep 5, 2015 9:29 AM - Mike Kelly: still though!
Sep 5, 2015 9:30 AM - NFOsec: all of the ends are actually mod4 or sleeved.
Sep 5, 2015 9:30 AM - Mike Kelly: don't ever use twist caps for something in motion
Sep 5, 2015 9:30 AM - NFOsec: but yea... I know what you mean.
    Sep 5, 2015 9:30 AM - Mike Kelly: just a dangerous proposition
Sep 5, 2015 9:30 AM - Mike Kelly: especially for a heater circuit
Sep 5, 2015 9:30 AM - NFOsec: they were wrapped too.
Sep 5, 2015 9:30 AM - NFOsec: what can I say, I was living dangerously.
Sep 5, 2015 9:31 AM - NFOsec: but yeah, when this was on the Zenbot it was clips and tied to the mount. after putting on reprap I got lazy. which is why I don't use that one (now a new chair in the house).
Sep 5, 2015 9:32 AM - Mike Glass: Mike is the cnc done yet?
    Sep 5, 2015 9:32 AM - NFOsec: <stands in the corner, shunned>
Sep 5, 2015 9:33 AM - Mike Kelly: no i really need to start building the table
Sep 5, 2015 9:33 AM - Mike Kelly: i just don't know if i can actually fit what i want
Sep 5, 2015 9:33 AM - Mike Glass: what you dont like my idea of ceiling mounting it?
    Sep 5, 2015 9:33 AM - Mike Kelly: haha i do
Sep 5, 2015 9:34 AM - Mike Kelly: but i'm trying not to spend any money this month
Sep 5, 2015 9:34 AM - Mike Glass: I almost want to try it if it dont work I can always use it .
Sep 5, 2015 9:34 AM - Mike Kelly: for sure
Sep 5, 2015 9:34 AM - Mike Glass: I was going to get another one eventually
Sep 5, 2015 9:34 AM - Mike Kelly: we talked about adding another 4x4 storage so that would be perfect
Sep 5, 2015 9:36 AM - Mike Glass: its harder for me with 12' ceilings, it only comes down above the waist.:(
Sep 5, 2015 9:37 AM - NFOsec: retractable 4-point platform that you can pull down and push up at will... might work.
Sep 5, 2015 9:38 AM - Mike Kelly: i should really tear out my existing cabinetry and build a better arrangement
Sep 5, 2015 9:39 AM - Mike Kelly: but again, costs money
Sep 5, 2015 9:39 AM - Mike Glass: right now my cnc table is 3 layers of 3/4 so may be too heavy..lol
Sep 5, 2015 9:39 AM - Mike Kelly: jfc why so much
Sep 5, 2015 9:41 AM - Mike Glass: to make it stiff
Sep 5, 2015 9:41 AM - Mike Glass: particle board bends really easily
Sep 5, 2015 9:41 AM - Mike Kelly: something something excess
Sep 5, 2015 9:42 AM - Mike Glass: I even have a 1/2 sheet of durock under it too.
Sep 5, 2015 9:43 AM - Mike Glass: I should of ran my rail slats on the long side that would of helped.
Sep 5, 2015 9:44 AM - NFOsec: hah. make it stiff. gawd.
Sep 5, 2015 9:45 AM - NFOsec: I have a birch table, but that alone is expense too.
Sep 5, 2015 9:46 AM - NFOsec: so, on my CNC for 3DP I had typically used blue tape for base on any work, on glass (my first experience) what do folks typically do to lift parts off once build is finish (assuming a cooldown is preferred to preserve the first layers)
Sep 5, 2015 9:47 AM - Mike Kelly: cricut spatula
Sep 5, 2015 9:47 AM - NFOsec: yeah, got those, I figured the finer the better. I originally pulled out my iPhone glass/LCD remover tool.
Sep 5, 2015 9:47 AM - NFOsec: good choice Mike.
Sep 5, 2015 9:48 AM - Mike Kelly: for really big surface area prints, the print removal tool that seemecnc/toybuilderlabs/etc sells is good
    Sep 5, 2015 9:48 AM - Mike Kelly: but it's pretty flexible
    Sep 5, 2015 9:48 AM - NFOsec: make sense.
Sep 5, 2015 9:48 AM - Mike Kelly: i usually start the edges with a razor blade till ican get the cricut under
Sep 5, 2015 9:48 AM - Mike Kelly: then use that to work around the edges
Sep 5, 2015 9:49 AM - NFOsec: yeah, razor blade against glass, nice habit forming thing to start.
Sep 5, 2015 9:49 AM - Mike Kelly: then slip the print removal tool under and circle it around
    Sep 5, 2015 9:49 AM - NFOsec: makes sense.
Sep 5, 2015 9:49 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah razor blade is less useful when you have tape on
Sep 5, 2015 9:49 AM - NFOsec: especially when you wnt to preserve edge integrity on some things.
Sep 5, 2015 9:49 AM - Mike Glass: I just syringe denatured alcohol on the edges, pops right off.
Sep 5, 2015 9:49 AM - NFOsec: MG you actually use hairspray though right?
Sep 5, 2015 9:50 AM - NFOsec: I did glue stick the first few times, found the spray gives more uniform and easier to clean surface.
Sep 5, 2015 9:50 AM - Mike Glass: yep, glue stick dont work for me
Sep 5, 2015 9:50 AM - NFOsec: never had problems, just messy.
Sep 5, 2015 9:50 AM - NFOsec: but you know you're not supposed to snack on it.
Sep 5, 2015 9:50 AM - Mike Glass: Now I spray a paper towel an wipe it on, seems to work better.
Sep 5, 2015 9:51 AM - donhuevo: and now its cool
Sep 5, 2015 9:51 AM - Mike Glass: I think the fibers from the towel help
Sep 5, 2015 9:51 AM - Mike Glass: You should try it don:)
    Sep 5, 2015 9:51 AM - donhuevo: I just might

    Sep 5, 2015 9:51 AM - NFOsec: what's cool huevo?
    Sep 5, 2015 9:51 AM - Mike Glass: haha
Sep 5, 2015 9:52 AM - Mike Glass: thanks for the tip, seems to be holding now
Sep 5, 2015 9:52 AM - donhuevo: glad to help
Sep 5, 2015 9:52 AM - donhuevo: also glad to poke fun at
Sep 5, 2015 9:52 AM - NFOsec: well, if you have the cajones then what's another huevo?
Sep 5, 2015 9:53 AM - Mike Glass: my effin z offset will not work so now I just use the control panel to lower .01 or .02
    Sep 5, 2015 9:53 AM - donhuevo: how'd you break that?
Sep 5, 2015 9:53 AM - Mike Glass: crappy software
    Sep 5, 2015 9:54 AM - NFOsec: is there such a thing?
Sep 5, 2015 9:54 AM - Mike Glass: So I get this template made, now she wants an email on it...ugg
Sep 5, 2015 9:54 AM - Mike Kelly: i need to get a lcd on my r1.7 for baby stepping
Sep 5, 2015 9:54 AM - Mike Glass: Yea I need to enable that on mine MK
Sep 5, 2015 9:55 AM - Mike Glass: wish there was a panel that had a bunch of knobs you could tweak without a computer.
Sep 5, 2015 9:56 AM - Mike Glass: this digital pushing buttons is a PITA
Sep 5, 2015 9:57 AM - Mike Glass: I need to go cut some pacmans now.
Sep 5, 2015 9:57 AM - Mike Kelly: i wish my cnc was running, i need an anniversary gift :-X
Sep 5, 2015 10:00 AM - Mike Glass: mine will probably break now that I have actual jobs.
    Sep 5, 2015 10:00 AM - Mike Kelly: definitely
Sep 5, 2015 10:00 AM - Mike Glass: didnt have to agree.
    Sep 5, 2015 10:00 AM - donhuevo:
    Sep 5, 2015 10:03 AM - Mike Glass: ahha I love batdad
    Sep 5, 2015 10:05 AM - Mike Kelly: haha
    Sep 5, 2015 10:05 AM - Mike Kelly: "you're so gross"
    Sep 5, 2015 10:07 AM - donhuevo: jen's been doing squats
Sep 5, 2015 10:07 AM - NFOsec: well, aqua net is on sale or it isn't, same price everywhere around here. $2.89
Sep 5, 2015 10:07 AM - NFOsec: MK: What kind of CNC are you referring to?
Sep 5, 2015 10:08 AM - donhuevo: Suave Extreme Hold Dollar General
Sep 5, 2015 10:08 AM - NFOsec: Well, being as bald as I am, I don't think I can get away with the looks at Dollar General, but thanks, I'll remember that next round.
Sep 5, 2015 10:09 AM - NFOsec: donhuevo: squats with or without you
    Sep 5, 2015 10:09 AM - NFOsec: batdad is a classic now.
Sep 5, 2015 10:11 AM - Mike Glass: its the same one on my thingiverse page NFO
Sep 5, 2015 10:12 AM - Mike Glass: MP CNC, I have built a few things for it.
    Sep 5, 2015 10:16 AM - NFOsec: ah.
Sep 5, 2015 10:18 AM - NFOsec: what kind of driver was that using? Ive been using a Geck540, have Arduino board and options there too, but I just programmed that for temp/motion sensing / reporting with the custom 3D printing attachment I had on there
Sep 5, 2015 10:20 AM - Mike Glass: just uses regular 3d printer hardware.
    Sep 5, 2015 10:20 AM - NFOsec: ah.
Sep 5, 2015 10:21 AM - Mike Glass: actually a the guy that designed it used to work for robo
    Sep 5, 2015 10:22 AM - Mike Glass: I use 8825 1/32 stepping drivers on mine.
Sep 5, 2015 10:23 AM - Mike Glass: I built my entire system for under $450
Sep 5, 2015 10:23 AM - Mike Glass: that included the 2 rolls of filament.
Sep 5, 2015 10:26 AM - Bill Monroe: you can still use a 540 with the arduino.. just pull the step and dir from the 8825 sockets
Sep 5, 2015 10:26 AM - NFOsec: yeah, that makes sense.
Sep 5, 2015 10:27 AM - Bill Monroe: or some of the individual gecko stepper drivers.. I've done it driving 34's
Sep 5, 2015 10:27 AM - Bill Monroe: just watch your grounds
Sep 5, 2015 10:27 AM - NFOsec: I noticed one general "flaw" in my new system, the top notch looks like someone hack-sawed it off (not a clean die or injection molded release but a little jagged). However, nothing a little specialized sandpaper or dremel can't clean up.
Sep 5, 2015 10:28 AM - NFOsec: man, that was a lesson for me Bill, didn't have that level of expertise on grounds and resistors that I should have, had motors cooking eggs at one point, figured out the need to add resistors and make sure everything was properly grounded. make for a cool clean machine then.
Sep 5, 2015 10:29 AM - NFOsec: whatever you do, don't rely on bifocal and normal eye views when trying to solder. I swore it was warped. LOL
Sep 5, 2015 10:30 AM - Bill Monroe: i was thinking more of inducing ground loops into the signal circuits
Sep 5, 2015 10:30 AM - NFOsec: <do you hear that airplane over my head?>
    Sep 5, 2015 10:30 AM - NFOsec: <vvrrooom>
Sep 5, 2015 10:31 AM - Bill Monroe: oh hmmm well, just run a ground wire from the arduino to the 540s.. keep ground reference at the same potential.. you should be fine
Sep 5, 2015 10:32 AM - NFOsec: so, leaving it in my tongue isn't right. worked with 9v batteries for testing. :) yeah. gotcha.
Sep 5, 2015 10:33 AM - NFOsec: so, that future maker space thing for Robo3D, any word on that launch?
    Sep 5, 2015 10:34 AM - NFOsec: some website.
Sep 5, 2015 10:34 AM - NFOsec: spray works much better than the glue stick, and the wipe-on approach is good as long as you don't wait too long.
Sep 5, 2015 10:35 AM - NFOsec: bought a good book on learning electronics/electrical stuff, always appreciated what others knew, but felt a little out of place. Radioshack clearance item.
Sep 5, 2015 10:37 AM - NFOsec: wel, tomorrow is the last day to enjoy my SpaceClaim license, it was good while it lasted, but so much better / cheaper stuff outte nhre ow.
Sep 5, 2015 10:42 AM - Bill Monroe: Now hear this:
Sep 5, 2015 10:42 AM - Bill Monroe: Robo Acme Z screws just arrived
Sep 5, 2015 10:43 AM - NFOsec: so you're going to be screwing around now?
Sep 5, 2015 10:43 AM - Bill Monroe: not now.. I already have acme screws so, no
Sep 5, 2015 10:50 AM - Bill Monroe: there has been some drama about when they were going to ship..
Sep 5, 2015 10:52 AM - NFOsec: ah. well, if it was an international affair, I couldn't comment, it's always drama then.
    Sep 5, 2015 10:54 AM - Bill Monroe:
    Sep 5, 2015 10:56 AM - Mike Kelly: arghhh
Sep 5, 2015 10:56 AM - Mike Kelly: ace guys are seldom helpful
Sep 5, 2015 10:56 AM - Mike Kelly: was looking for a screw that was around 90mm long
    Sep 5, 2015 10:57 AM - Mike Kelly: he measures a 80mm and says "oh that's 3-1/8""
    Sep 5, 2015 10:57 AM - PeterkSharma: morning
    Sep 5, 2015 10:57 AM - Mike Kelly: then finds me a 3" #8
    Sep 5, 2015 10:57 AM - Mike Kelly: I NEEDED 3.5"
    Sep 5, 2015 10:57 AM - Mike Kelly: argh
    Sep 5, 2015 11:04 AM - NFOsec: OMG.
Sep 5, 2015 11:04 AM - NFOsec: they are not paid to think.
    Sep 5, 2015 11:04 AM - NFOsec: just ace a sale.
Sep 5, 2015 11:10 AM - NFOsec: Maybe Robo3D should use the bowtie, comb, whistle and other stock library items on Robbie for CES2016
Sep 5, 2015 11:10 AM - NFOsec: but I have a feeling based on Bill's printing we're going to have some pretty colorful character.
Sep 5, 2015 11:20 AM - Mike Kelly: btw nfo here's my plan for my CNC table: [IMG]
Sep 5, 2015 11:20 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm probably not gonna use 4x4 legs but use 2x4's then put some drawers in
Sep 5, 2015 11:20 AM - Mike Kelly: one will house the electronics
    Sep 5, 2015 11:21 AM - Mike Kelly: 24"x24" cutting area
Sep 5, 2015 11:22 AM - NFOsec: well, if you want durability/stability, you might want to consider putting cross bars across the mid/lower leg portion.
Sep 5, 2015 11:23 AM - NFOsec: The workbench I built for my laser (which was around 163lbs) came from: http://www.hammerzone.com/archives/workshop/bench/below20xl.html
Sep 5, 2015 11:24 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah it's not done yet
Sep 5, 2015 11:24 AM - NFOsec: built like a rock. I actually did the nailing but added Kreg screws at all 8 points for additional power.
Sep 5, 2015 11:24 AM - Mike Kelly: there will be a bottom shelf
    Sep 5, 2015 11:24 AM - NFOsec: understood.
Sep 5, 2015 11:24 AM - Mike Kelly: haven't had time to put more work into it
Sep 5, 2015 11:24 AM - NFOsec: maybe anchor it to the floor. I like the design though.
Sep 5, 2015 11:24 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm also gonna have some gussets
Sep 5, 2015 11:24 AM - Mike Glass: what a dope, I had 24.5 for my grid.. think it suppose to be 25.4..haha
Sep 5, 2015 11:27 AM - NFOsec: well, always measure twice and screw up the 3rd time.
Sep 5, 2015 11:27 AM - Mike Glass: I was wondering why my board wasnt big enough, although it was.
Sep 5, 2015 11:28 AM - NFOsec: well, if you look down and it appears to be big enough, that's your perception. Everyone else may think differently.
Sep 5, 2015 11:29 AM - NFOsec: I cracked up once, asked for a 32x32" table, got a 24x24" grid/table with 8 inches of border around it -- unnecessary waste of space.
Sep 5, 2015 11:31 AM - NFOsec: MK: assumption is not threaded pipe yo'ure using right?
    Sep 5, 2015 11:32 AM - Mike Glass: emt
    Sep 5, 2015 11:33 AM - jbigler1986: Mk
Sep 5, 2015 11:35 AM - jbigler1986: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:746497 think i can get 2 of those on your modular v2 carriage? I will need to modify it to mount to it

Sep 5, 2015 11:37 AM - NFOsec: Not sure I like that one.
    Sep 5, 2015 11:37 AM - Mike Kelly: hmm
    Sep 5, 2015 11:37 AM - Mike Kelly: maybe'
Sep 5, 2015 11:37 AM - Mike Kelly: i'd need to throw them in the model
    Sep 5, 2015 11:37 AM - Mike Kelly: you'd probably lose some X travel
Sep 5, 2015 11:39 AM - NFOsec: I had the one that Rockliffe Spider 3D print tool that used something like this, wasn't the greatest. I have the files to build it. It was done via laser sintering
    Sep 5, 2015 11:40 AM - jbigler1986: Not to worried about loosing a little x
Sep 5, 2015 11:41 AM - NFOsec: but, after using that, I'll NEVER go to a non-all-metal solution again. the hotend screwed into a heat block that was screwed to a teflon plate screwed into nylon parts.
    Sep 5, 2015 11:41 AM - NFOsec: <shiver>
Sep 5, 2015 11:44 AM - Mike Kelly: All metal for a 3d printer is a bit of a hat on a hat
Sep 5, 2015 11:44 AM - jbigler1986: Going to be regular nema 17. Gonna have to print slow of course
Sep 5, 2015 11:46 AM - NFOsec: true, but without proper heat management or should I say connections (screws, collars, etc.) it's dangerous eh?
Sep 5, 2015 11:46 AM - NFOsec: sort of like a twist end. LOL
Sep 5, 2015 11:54 AM - PeterkSharma: man i'm so over ordering anything of amazon that is not prime
Sep 5, 2015 11:56 AM - donhuevo: yeah, I think my mailman is getting ready to kill me
Sep 5, 2015 11:57 AM - jbigler1986: I ordered a few things at 11:47 this morning. Just got them. Haha
Sep 5, 2015 12:00 PM - JeffTheMess: Elders react tp 3dprinters (good thing its a robo)
    Sep 5, 2015 12:07 PM - NFOsec: Peter - no kidding.
Sep 5, 2015 12:07 PM - NFOsec: I live about 20 minutes from an Amazon distribution center, could get stuff same day 4 hours if appropriate.
    Sep 5, 2015 12:09 PM - NFOsec: Jeff: hilarious.
Sep 5, 2015 12:09 PM - NFOsec: at least they see something smooth and clean looking .
Sep 5, 2015 12:13 PM - JeffTheMess: No hairspray, no glue no nothing prints perfect they really made sure those were beyond good
Sep 5, 2015 12:14 PM - NFOsec: well, sans glue/hairspray, very doable in the right environmental conditions and bed heating don't you agree?
Sep 5, 2015 12:15 PM - JeffTheMess: agreed but still who lives in those perfect conditions year round
Sep 5, 2015 12:16 PM - NFOsec: The woman who held Thor's hammer in the end was a little wierd though.
Sep 5, 2015 12:16 PM - NFOsec: something Donhuevo would have appreciated.
Sep 5, 2015 12:17 PM - NFOsec: What surprised me more than anything was that when you presented a "time to complete", they were not really shocked as in "that long" but rather "amazing altogether". Quality is not abuot speed, that's all I ever agreed on.
Sep 5, 2015 12:17 PM - JeffTheMess: do you want one...old guy: absolutely not
    Sep 5, 2015 12:18 PM - NFOsec: lol.
Sep 5, 2015 12:18 PM - JeffTheMess: the initiated like us know the value
Sep 5, 2015 12:18 PM - NFOsec: intimidation... these guys always thought it was rocket scientists and Mike Kelly who did those kinds of things.
Sep 5, 2015 12:19 PM - NFOsec: yeah, prcisely. In China they're leading us to think they have 10,000 workforce strong designing things when in fact it's probably a large facility with a couple hundred 3D printers. :)
Sep 5, 2015 12:19 PM - NFOsec: I honestly think we could bring manuafcturing back to the U.S. and make it great that way again. Raw material and labor -- overrated. lol.
    Sep 5, 2015 12:20 PM - JeffTheMess: lol agreed
Sep 5, 2015 12:24 PM - JeffTheMess: alright my wife is kicking me off ill be on maybe tonight see ya
Sep 5, 2015 12:27 PM - Mike Glass: I hate the Z on this machine, Think I need to put a lead screw on it. bad thread somewhere.
Sep 5, 2015 12:29 PM - NFOsec: run a thread check against it and find the bad?
    Sep 5, 2015 12:29 PM - NFOsec: a nut? a clown?
Sep 5, 2015 12:32 PM - NFOsec: what do they call those chains that are used to hook up to an engine and lift it up with little or no effort -- I keep thinking hoist or winch, but I'm not sure that's the proper name for the pulley system...
Sep 5, 2015 12:32 PM - Bill Monroe: block and tackle
    Sep 5, 2015 12:37 PM - NFOsec: that's it. thanks Bill.
Sep 5, 2015 12:40 PM - Mike Glass: maybe under powered with this weight on the z now, running 2 pairs of cat 5 for power though.
Sep 5, 2015 12:42 PM - NFOsec: boy, subte hints seem to pay off today.
    Sep 5, 2015 12:43 PM - NFOsec: ack. subtle
Sep 5, 2015 12:44 PM - NFOsec: strangeset thing, this one brand of PLA I typically print at 210c today, I did a Taulman bridge nylon which is usually around 242c, but forgot to change the settings. With the Robo3D R1 +Plus, it came out as good if not better in print quality at the higher temp. I wonder...
Sep 5, 2015 12:45 PM - NFOsec: This just looks plain cool to make.
    Sep 5, 2015 12:45 PM - NFOsec: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:63557/#files
    Sep 5, 2015 12:45 PM - NFOsec: but I don't think that's a working track.
Sep 5, 2015 12:58 PM - Bill Monroe: i just got a confirmation from Robo that my order has shipped
Sep 5, 2015 12:58 PM - Bill Monroe: but, it arrived 4 hours ago.
Sep 5, 2015 12:58 PM - Bill Monroe: the R3 project must be for a time machine
    Sep 5, 2015 1:02 PM - NFOsec: Whatcha get from Robo/
    Sep 5, 2015 1:02 PM - NFOsec: lol.
    Sep 5, 2015 1:02 PM - Bill Monroe: screwed
Sep 5, 2015 1:05 PM - NFOsec: Got a message from Jerry indicating my product probably won't get there before the weekend, but arrived the next day as it should have. I guess they're used to what they know.
Sep 5, 2015 1:18 PM - NFOsec: Does anyone know if the term R1-PRO was actually the R1 +Plus model created or is that something else in the works/used (was listed as a beta printer type under "Servcies" on the website).
Sep 5, 2015 1:19 PM - Mike Kelly: Pro has some kind of touchscreen lcd
Sep 5, 2015 1:20 PM - donhuevo: that MC tablet?
Sep 5, 2015 1:21 PM - NFOsec: so "beta" really refers to a possible Robo3D with LCD touch screen. MC tablet without a battery isn't a touch screen, it's a paperweight. :)
Sep 5, 2015 1:21 PM - NFOsec: should have at least had a battery....
Sep 5, 2015 1:38 PM - jbigler1986: Its goong to have some kind of mattercontrol
    Sep 5, 2015 1:38 PM - jbigler1986: So it will be worthless
Sep 5, 2015 1:41 PM - NFOsec: well, MatterControl isn't really ALL that bad, it's meant to make it easy for newbies not seasoned geeks.
Sep 5, 2015 1:41 PM - NFOsec: which opens the market to that population.
Sep 5, 2015 1:42 PM - Mike Glass: great thats all we need..haha still a newby.

Sep 5, 2015 2:01 PM - NFOsec: anyone here print 3D heads (scanned)? I have a sense scanner, also have a kinect with a Faro scan software, but haven't gone to 3D printing yet, just CNC routing half profiles.

    Sep 5, 2015 3:53 PM - Mike Glass: we dive at 5
    Sep 5, 2015 3:58 PM - jbigler1986: More like at 7
    Sep 5, 2015 3:58 PM - jbigler1986: May be 5 your time though
Sep 5, 2015 4:00 PM - jbigler1986: Almost have her back together so i can print the extruder

Sep 5, 2015 4:07 PM - Mike Kelly: just got back
Sep 5, 2015 4:09 PM - Mike Kelly: "Free with subscription" You keep using that word comcast. I do not think it means what you think it means
Sep 5, 2015 4:11 PM - NFOsec: jb: so it's a she with an extruder? transg?
Sep 5, 2015 4:36 PM - jbigler1986: She is lots of different things
Sep 5, 2015 4:41 PM - jbigler1986: Mk do you think you could modify the base of the extruder i posted earlier to mount onto your carriage?
Sep 5, 2015 5:07 PM - NFOsec: man, nothing worse than opening up Shoutbox and seeing donhuevo in his skivvies

Sep 5, 2015 5:55 PM - NFOsec: so that angry expression head from thingiverse, anyone print that? what height? I did a 60mm version of myself and in black detail is hard, but I'm sure in white or nylon should be interesting.

Sep 5, 2015 8:23 PM - NFOsec: yeah, must be.
Sep 5, 2015 8:23 PM - NFOsec: that's why I decided to deck out the Robo a little.
    Sep 5, 2015 8:23 PM - NFOsec: lol
    Sep 5, 2015 8:24 PM - Mike Glass: little early for x-mas
Sep 5, 2015 8:28 PM - NFOsec: Well, blue wasn't bad, but there are plenty of other colors.
Sep 5, 2015 8:29 PM - NFOsec: remote control and sensor to change during certain environmental conditions.
Sep 5, 2015 8:29 PM - NFOsec: for example, it turns black when it catches on fire. LOL
Sep 5, 2015 8:31 PM - bamhm182: You guys want to see some NSFL printer gore?
    Sep 5, 2015 8:32 PM - bamhm182: [IMG]
Sep 5, 2015 8:33 PM - bamhm182: Over exaggerating, but still. Ripped off both my fans, started to encase one of them in plastic, then began making spaghetti
Sep 5, 2015 8:33 PM - bamhm182: Worst part is, in my rush to get to work, I forgot to press the record button
Sep 5, 2015 8:34 PM - Blake Benefield: Bam where are you from?
Sep 5, 2015 8:37 PM - NFOsec: so is the part almost done?
    Sep 5, 2015 8:37 PM - NFOsec: heh.
    Sep 5, 2015 8:38 PM - bamhm182: I'm from Colorado, I'm in Virginia
Sep 5, 2015 8:39 PM - bamhm182: I think that what happened is that I skipped a good bit on the X axis, it started printing all screwed up, one of my fans caught the print, and it went very south
    Sep 5, 2015 8:40 PM - bamhm182: I think before I try again, I'm going to redo the X belt
Sep 5, 2015 8:41 PM - bamhm182: Also gotta clean all the PLA off my brand new E3D v6 :(
Sep 5, 2015 8:56 PM - Mike Glass: damn son, that is a mess
Sep 5, 2015 8:59 PM - PeterkSharma: hey MG, whats the possibility you can cnc something for me?
Sep 5, 2015 9:00 PM - Mike Glass: what material?
Sep 5, 2015 9:01 PM - PeterkSharma: doesnt matter so much
Sep 5, 2015 9:01 PM - PeterkSharma: aluminium should work

Sep 5, 2015 9:01 PM - PeterkSharma: aluminium should work
Sep 5, 2015 9:01 PM - PeterkSharma: I need to make a valve for a fuel cell, going to make a tesla valve
Sep 5, 2015 9:01 PM - PeterkSharma: just dont want to trust that to plastic
Sep 5, 2015 9:03 PM - Mike Glass: I havent had alot of luck cutting aluminium, I cut a 1/8 think piece and that about all I want to take this machine.
Sep 5, 2015 9:03 PM - PeterkSharma: any luck with any metal?
    Sep 5, 2015 9:03 PM - PeterkSharma: [IMG]
Sep 5, 2015 9:05 PM - Mike Glass: aluminium is all I would attempt on this machine, not really built for reliable metal cutting. Wood it works great, but metal can be messy.
Sep 5, 2015 9:05 PM - Mike Glass: how big is it?
Sep 5, 2015 9:06 PM - PeterkSharma: if i make 1/4 in tall should be fine
Sep 5, 2015 9:06 PM - PeterkSharma: you make 2 halves and mounth them together
Sep 5, 2015 9:06 PM - PeterkSharma: this is just the perfect one way valve
Sep 5, 2015 9:07 PM - PeterkSharma: I'm putting it one a fuel cell, and dont want to deal with flashbacks, and this will prevent
Sep 5, 2015 9:08 PM - Mike Glass: how long is it?
Sep 5, 2015 9:08 PM - Blake Benefield: What type of fuel?
Sep 5, 2015 9:09 PM - PeterkSharma: length isnt really and issue
Sep 5, 2015 9:09 PM - PeterkSharma: we could make it 4-8 inches
Sep 5, 2015 9:09 PM - PeterkSharma: hydrogen, its for a car for mechanic
    Sep 5, 2015 9:10 PM - PeterkSharma: for a mechanic*
Sep 5, 2015 9:12 PM - Blake Benefield: Crazy high lpm output?
Sep 5, 2015 9:16 PM - PeterkSharma: that valve will not let anything go back into it
Sep 5, 2015 9:16 PM - PeterkSharma: so if there is a fire the fuel cell wont blow up
Sep 5, 2015 9:26 PM - Blake Benefield: You can buy flash arrestors
Sep 5, 2015 9:28 PM - Blake Benefield: Probably going to have a hard time finding someone to make thst peter. Liability reasons and stuff
Sep 5, 2015 9:35 PM - PeterkSharma: i'm well aware of what im working with
Sep 5, 2015 9:35 PM - PeterkSharma: this is not the part that would fail
Sep 5, 2015 9:36 PM - PeterkSharma: this part is actually the least of my worries, if nothing else, i'll make it out of t-glase
Sep 5, 2015 9:37 PM - PeterkSharma: you seen these valves before blake?
Sep 5, 2015 9:38 PM - PeterkSharma: that are pretty frikkin amazing
    Sep 5, 2015 9:38 PM - PeterkSharma:
Sep 5, 2015 11:18 PM - Blake Benefield: I havent. Ive used other gas valves and arrestors for cutting etc.
Sep 5, 2015 11:19 PM - Blake Benefield: I just know how insurance and liability claims work in the one off world
    Sep 6, 2015 5:48 AM - jbigler1986: morning all

    Sep 6, 2015 7:45 AM - jbigler1986: my oldest said "I don't want this call to ever end" :(
    Sep 6, 2015 7:45 AM - jbigler1986: first time since august 3rd
Sep 6, 2015 7:46 AM - Mike Glass: Damn month, crap, that sucks
Sep 6, 2015 7:46 AM - jbigler1986: also found out that my youngest broke his arm 3 days after getting his cast off.
    Sep 6, 2015 7:46 AM - jbigler1986: nice to fucking know
    Sep 6, 2015 7:46 AM - Mike Glass: WTF
Sep 6, 2015 7:47 AM - jbigler1986: I had no fucking clue until my kids told me on the phone yesterday
    Sep 6, 2015 7:48 AM - jbigler1986: bullshit. it's ok. makes her look horrible
    Sep 6, 2015 7:49 AM - jbigler1986: MG have you used the .6 lately
    Sep 6, 2015 7:51 AM - Mike Glass: I only have a .8
Sep 6, 2015 7:51 AM - Mike Glass: That is BS, you should of been notfied
Sep 6, 2015 7:51 AM - jbigler1986: what all do i need to change in s3d for a bigger nozzle? i always forget

Sep 6, 2015 7:52 AM - jbigler1986: oh that's cura that needs other stuff changed. nevermind

    Sep 6, 2015 8:20 AM - donhuevo: jb
Sep 6, 2015 8:20 AM - Bigc: All of Yall
Sep 6, 2015 8:23 AM - Bill Monroe: for the first time in weeks, I'm not printing a Robbie part :)
Sep 6, 2015 8:25 AM - Bigc: How many have you done
    Sep 6, 2015 8:26 AM - Bill Monroe: 21
    Sep 6, 2015 8:26 AM - Bill Monroe: 12
Sep 6, 2015 8:28 AM - Bigc: That's pretty impressive I am still in the middle of printing the parts to upgrade my printer
    Sep 6, 2015 8:30 AM - Bill Monroe: [IMG]
    Sep 6, 2015 8:31 AM - jbigler1986: I had to retram
Sep 6, 2015 8:32 AM - Bill Monroe: wow.. did you use the cream your doctor gave you for that?
    Sep 6, 2015 8:32 AM - jbigler1986: Printing a part that the base is 200mm x 200mm
Sep 6, 2015 8:32 AM - jbigler1986: So it was easy to tram. Lol
Sep 6, 2015 8:38 AM - Bigc: No matter how many different thermistors i try i keep receving M999 Temp error any ideas
Sep 6, 2015 8:44 AM - Bill Monroe: you check the firmware for what the alarms is set for?
Sep 6, 2015 8:44 AM - Bill Monroe: wait.. does it do it when you power up?
    Sep 6, 2015 8:45 AM - Bigc: nope
Sep 6, 2015 8:45 AM - Bill Monroe: ok so it happens while you're printing, yes?
    Sep 6, 2015 8:45 AM - Bigc: Just randomly when i print
Sep 6, 2015 8:46 AM - Bill Monroe: ok, do you have 1 or 2 parts fans?
Sep 6, 2015 8:46 AM - Bigc: 1 for the parts 1 for the hotend
Sep 6, 2015 8:47 AM - Bill Monroe: alright, sounds like connection isses

Sep 6, 2015 8:48 AM - Bill Monroe: how about the connections on the RAMPS?
Sep 6, 2015 8:49 AM - donhuevo: any chance the parts fan is blowing onto the nozzle?
Sep 6, 2015 8:49 AM - Bigc: Yep i completely redid the wiring to make sure that was not it
Sep 6, 2015 8:50 AM - Bill Monroe: where you getting the thermistors?
Sep 6, 2015 8:51 AM - Bigc: two from robo one came with the hexagon extruder i bought
    Sep 6, 2015 8:53 AM - Bill Monroe: ok, i got nothing
Sep 6, 2015 8:54 AM - donhuevo: I fiddled with a parts fan duct a ways back and found I'd get temp errors in the middle of big flat parts. Turned out to be too much cooling air getting to the nozzle
Sep 6, 2015 8:54 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, thought it might be that too but sounds like a stock setup
Sep 6, 2015 8:55 AM - Bigc: As far as the Fan shroud at one point i used the stock one now i use a custom one with the same results
Sep 6, 2015 8:55 AM - Bill Monroe: gotta be an intermittant connection
Sep 6, 2015 8:56 AM - donhuevo: several of the software packages give you real time temp graphs. I'd be interested to see if the extruder goes all the way to zero or not
Sep 6, 2015 8:57 AM - Bigc: I will print a new fan shroud to take that off the list of possible problems
Sep 6, 2015 8:58 AM - Bill Monroe: stock fan and mounting?
Sep 6, 2015 8:58 AM - donhuevo: what software do you run?
    Sep 6, 2015 8:59 AM - Mike Glass: MC
    Sep 6, 2015 8:59 AM - Mike Glass: buwhahaha
Sep 6, 2015 8:59 AM - Bill Monroe: printing XT
Sep 6, 2015 8:59 AM - donhuevo: does it give real time temps?
Sep 6, 2015 8:59 AM - Mike Glass: no graph
Sep 6, 2015 8:59 AM - donhuevo: I know S3D and Repetier both have graphs
Sep 6, 2015 9:00 AM - Mike Glass: thats one ot the many reasons MC sucks
Sep 6, 2015 9:00 AM - Bigc: No not MC Friends do not let friends use MC
Sep 6, 2015 9:00 AM - Mike Glass: haha true
Sep 6, 2015 9:01 AM - Bigc: I use Cura for slicing and octoprint for printing
Sep 6, 2015 9:01 AM - donhuevo: I'm looking at Cura now and don't see real-time graphing. No clue about octoprint
Sep 6, 2015 9:02 AM - Mike Glass: you need to open ponterface
Sep 6, 2015 9:02 AM - Bill Monroe: ponterface.. isnt that one of Lady Gaga's hits?
Sep 6, 2015 9:03 AM - Mike Glass: im not sure, im not into that thing, whatever Gaga is.
    Sep 6, 2015 9:06 AM - Bill Monroe:
    Sep 6, 2015 9:24 AM - Bill Monroe:
Sep 6, 2015 9:47 AM - Bigc: It did it again from what i can tell it drops about ten C
    Sep 6, 2015 9:48 AM - donhuevo: that's just weird
    Sep 6, 2015 10:00 AM - Mike Kelly: howdy
    Sep 6, 2015 10:01 AM - donhuevo: pardner!
Sep 6, 2015 10:02 AM - Mike Kelly: how's everyone on this fine day
    Sep 6, 2015 10:04 AM - donhuevo: I
Sep 6, 2015 10:04 AM - donhuevo: I've been staring at this for the past 3 hours... [IMG]
Sep 6, 2015 10:04 AM - Mike Kelly: that is quite the thing
    Sep 6, 2015 10:05 AM - donhuevo: I think I finally found a place for everything
Sep 6, 2015 10:06 AM - Mike Kelly: that dict is gonna look crazy
Sep 6, 2015 10:06 AM - donhuevo: agreed. no clue how I'll print it either. tomorrow's problem
    Sep 6, 2015 10:20 AM - Mike Kelly: i should print something i think
Sep 6, 2015 10:20 AM - Mike Kelly: i kinda want to try and salvage the robbie print that had the under extrusion fail
Sep 6, 2015 10:20 AM - Mike Kelly: been stuck on my build plate for like a week now
Sep 6, 2015 10:23 AM - donhuevo: did you put CA down by mistake?
Sep 6, 2015 10:24 AM - Mike Kelly: na just haven't tried to remove it
Sep 6, 2015 10:24 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm considering trying a print resume from where it first failed
Sep 6, 2015 10:24 AM - Mike Kelly: but i'm worried the X Y might be off so i'm considering throwing a LCD on there with baby stepping enabled
Sep 6, 2015 10:25 AM - donhuevo: I would buy a ticket to that show
Sep 6, 2015 10:26 AM - donhuevo: you won't know til it's too late whether you got it right or not
Sep 6, 2015 10:27 AM - Mike Kelly: very true
Sep 6, 2015 10:28 AM - Mike Kelly: i dunno i'm just conflicted by if it's worth saving
Sep 6, 2015 10:31 AM - donhuevo: I can feel the conliction from here. Get it off of there and start it again
Sep 6, 2015 10:33 AM - Mike Kelly: well i'm trying to finish off this crappy spool of filament
Sep 6, 2015 10:33 AM - Mike Kelly: i dunno i'll give it a shot i guess, always been curious how well it might work to resume a print
Sep 6, 2015 10:34 AM - donhuevo: well, if it's for science then it won't be a total waste of time
Sep 6, 2015 10:34 AM - Mike Kelly: For Science!
    Sep 6, 2015 10:48 AM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
    Sep 6, 2015 10:48 AM - jbigler1986: Topless. Lol
Sep 6, 2015 10:50 AM - Mike Glass: Mike why dont you slice it and print the top that need to be printed then glue it?
Sep 6, 2015 10:51 AM - Mike Glass: ive done that before worked perfect
Sep 6, 2015 10:52 AM - jbigler1986: resuming a print usually fails for me. have to be exact
Sep 6, 2015 10:52 AM - jbigler1986: although it's usally after changing filament so it gets moved
Sep 6, 2015 10:55 AM - Mike Glass: are you printing vertical JB
Sep 6, 2015 10:55 AM - Mike Glass: Mike, do you have a vaccum attachment made for the cnc yet?
Sep 6, 2015 10:57 AM - Bigc: So i tryed printing again on the graphs it shows a 10 C drop and it stops
Sep 6, 2015 10:58 AM - donhuevo: try backing off on your cooling fan pct and see if you can get further
Sep 6, 2015 11:01 AM - Mike Glass: does it dow it at the same position on the part?
Sep 6, 2015 11:01 AM - Mike Glass: maybe your fan is kicking on faster at that point.
    Sep 6, 2015 11:01 AM - Bigc: nope
Sep 6, 2015 11:02 AM - donhuevo: I want to say an open in the wire would take it instantly to 0. this is why I'm leaning towards too much cooling at the nozzle
    Sep 6, 2015 11:02 AM - jbigler1986: Set it to like 60%
Sep 6, 2015 11:03 AM - donhuevo: which is also why I'm trying to come up with cooling that starts as close to the nozzle as possible and blows away from it
Sep 6, 2015 11:05 AM - Mike Glass: thats what im thinking don
Sep 6, 2015 11:06 AM - Mike Glass: or the autofan is enabled.
Sep 6, 2015 11:06 AM - Bigc: The fan is set to 100 after .5 mm
Sep 6, 2015 11:06 AM - donhuevo: something just hit me... what if you took a dict just like 99% of the dicts out there today and block off the center of it. Essentially forking the airflow leaving a dead spot where the nozzle is
    Sep 6, 2015 11:07 AM - donhuevo: a forked dict
    Sep 6, 2015 11:07 AM - Bigc: I am changing it to 50%
Sep 6, 2015 11:08 AM - donhuevo: fingers crossed big
Sep 6, 2015 11:15 AM - Mike Glass: also check make sure you can push the filament by hand and extrude easily.
Sep 6, 2015 11:15 AM - Mike Glass: it not season you nozzle
    Sep 6, 2015 11:15 AM - Mike Glass: if
Sep 6, 2015 11:15 AM - Bigc: I know i was having very few issues with abs
Sep 6, 2015 11:16 AM - donhuevo: not that kapton has a lot of insulation value but I probably wrapped my heater block about six times with it
Sep 6, 2015 11:16 AM - Mike Kelly: science experiment failed
    Sep 6, 2015 11:16 AM - donhuevo: boo
Sep 6, 2015 11:17 AM - jbigler1986: Then its probably the fan. Since you dont use it for abs
    Sep 6, 2015 11:17 AM - Mike Kelly: lemme try MG's idea
    Sep 6, 2015 11:17 AM - jbigler1986: Yeah i always failed too mk
Sep 6, 2015 11:18 AM - donhuevo: printing a longer servo arm now. should be right for the volcano
Sep 6, 2015 11:21 AM - Bigc: I Really miss the old ubis Hotend on the printrbot simple it never had an issues
Sep 6, 2015 11:21 AM - donhuevo: did that printer have part cooling?
    Sep 6, 2015 11:21 AM - Bigc: Yep
Sep 6, 2015 11:22 AM - Bigc: The old ubis hotend had a ceramic body
    Sep 6, 2015 11:24 AM - Bigc: https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/...RsedzkzES9JD7DqgIGNYyAi9HPJMUF0JLsMlIu-wcXu3Q
    Sep 6, 2015 11:25 AM - Mike Kelly:
Sep 6, 2015 11:27 AM - Mike Kelly: the autoleveling meant that it was dragging in the front and up in the back so that won't work
Sep 6, 2015 11:27 AM - Mike Kelly: really need to shim my bed so the autoleveling isn't doing much of anything
Sep 6, 2015 11:28 AM - Mike Kelly: pretty sure i'm gonna throw the rest of this spool away when i'm done, such terrible filament

Sep 6, 2015 11:33 AM - Mike Kelly: MG to answer your question i haven't printed my vacuum attachment yet
Sep 6, 2015 11:51 AM - Mike Kelly: MG you needed 2 lead screws right? one of each wire length?
Sep 6, 2015 11:53 AM - Mike Glass: Nope just one MK
Sep 6, 2015 11:54 AM - Mike Kelly: what length
Sep 6, 2015 11:54 AM - Mike Glass: The long wire
    Sep 6, 2015 11:55 AM - Mike Kelly: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:973284 here's the shoe i'm considering

    Sep 6, 2015 11:57 AM - Mike Kelly: i bet there's a couple on there
Sep 6, 2015 11:59 AM - Mike Glass: I havent seen any yet. probably have to make one.
Sep 6, 2015 12:05 PM - Mike Kelly: does your router have any screws on the bottom
Sep 6, 2015 12:13 PM - Mike Glass: hmm , not sure. let me check
    Sep 6, 2015 12:16 PM - Mike Kelly: carriage weighs about 2kg
Sep 6, 2015 12:20 PM - NFOsec: MK: Is MG complaining abuot his weight gain again?
    Sep 6, 2015 12:20 PM - NFOsec: lol.
    Sep 6, 2015 12:20 PM - NFOsec: MK: i printed that shoe, worked great\
Sep 6, 2015 12:21 PM - NFOsec: MK: The other one is interesting, but I'd rather not pull debris closer to the colletts.
Sep 6, 2015 12:22 PM - NFOsec: i guess it all depends if you suck or you blow.
Sep 6, 2015 12:24 PM - Mike Glass: alot of crap in the way MK. [IMG]
Sep 6, 2015 12:28 PM - NFOsec: oooh, look at the purty colors.
Sep 6, 2015 12:35 PM - Mike Kelly: is there a screw like the near one on the other side? i bet you could make something
    Sep 6, 2015 12:36 PM - Mike Glass: [IMG]
Sep 6, 2015 12:37 PM - Mike Glass: Yep time to get out the calipers and see how much plastic I can waste.
Sep 6, 2015 12:37 PM - Mike Kelly: there ya go
Sep 6, 2015 12:37 PM - NFOsec: are you "boring" people?
    Sep 6, 2015 12:37 PM - Mike Kelly: ?
Sep 6, 2015 12:37 PM - donhuevo: I try and bore as often as possible
    Sep 6, 2015 12:37 PM - donhuevo: ""
    Sep 6, 2015 12:38 PM - Mike Glass: I bore wood.
Sep 6, 2015 12:38 PM - NFOsec: I'm thinking that thing could drill a hole in someone's head (a.k.a. boring)
    Sep 6, 2015 12:38 PM - NFOsec: just don't bore the wife.
Sep 6, 2015 12:38 PM - NFOsec: so, the purpose of that baby is to do what? rip materials to shreds?
Sep 6, 2015 12:39 PM - Mike Glass: Printing money basically
Sep 6, 2015 12:40 PM - NFOsec: well, if it doesn't work, at least you know you can burn it.
Sep 6, 2015 12:40 PM - jbigler1986: Teach me how to do that
    Sep 6, 2015 12:40 PM - jbigler1986: I want to print money
Sep 6, 2015 12:41 PM - Mike Kelly: well you're allowed to make your own currency sooo
Sep 6, 2015 12:42 PM - NFOsec: jbigcoin, the next big thing.... I can see it now.
Sep 6, 2015 12:42 PM - NFOsec: or the Glass money, drop it and there goes the economy.
Sep 6, 2015 12:47 PM - jbigler1986: Jbigcoin used foe silkroad transactions. Lol

Sep 6, 2015 12:51 PM - donhuevo: I missed the girl and the propeller
    Sep 6, 2015 12:53 PM - NFOsec:

Sep 6, 2015 1:02 PM - Mike Kelly: don did you ever reconsider the X rail spacing for your new design?
Sep 6, 2015 1:04 PM - donhuevo: I did but wouldn't have been able to change it enough to really make a difference.
Sep 6, 2015 1:05 PM - donhuevo: even this version is still at 83mm
    Sep 6, 2015 1:06 PM - Mike Kelly: gotcha
Sep 6, 2015 1:07 PM - donhuevo: I had grand plans with the corexy but I don't think I'll revive that work
    Sep 6, 2015 1:23 PM - Mike Kelly: [IMG] I'd call this a success
    Sep 6, 2015 1:24 PM - donhuevo: me too

Sep 6, 2015 1:59 PM - Mike Glass: I have one of those coming with another Uno
Sep 6, 2015 2:00 PM - donhuevo: it'll be fun to play with
Sep 6, 2015 2:00 PM - Mike Kelly: which mg? the touchscreen?
Sep 6, 2015 2:02 PM - Mike Glass: yea a touch screen, not sure which one it is though, it was like $12 with the uno
Sep 6, 2015 2:03 PM - Mike Glass: afk for a bit whilest i vacuum as these parts cut out..
Sep 6, 2015 2:05 PM - Mike Glass: shit forgot to add tabs, dammit
Sep 6, 2015 2:30 PM - Mike Kelly: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:973284 how do you secure the bottom to the top? magnes?
    Sep 6, 2015 2:38 PM - jbigler1986: Gorilla glue
Sep 6, 2015 2:39 PM - Mike Kelly: looks like magnets
    Sep 6, 2015 2:39 PM - jbigler1986: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:663951
    Sep 6, 2015 2:39 PM - Mike Kelly: yup
Sep 6, 2015 2:43 PM - jbigler1986: Fucking thermistor broke. Ugh. Quick solder fixed it but it was like 5 hours into the print
Sep 6, 2015 2:44 PM - Mike Kelly: oh man lame
    Sep 6, 2015 2:44 PM - donhuevo: shit
Sep 6, 2015 2:49 PM - Mike Kelly: i wonder if you could print a dust boot with ninjaflex
Sep 6, 2015 2:52 PM - Mike Kelly: ooo maybe semiflex
Sep 6, 2015 2:53 PM - Mike Kelly: well damn now i need to get my wiring done
    Sep 6, 2015 2:55 PM - krouton3: hows it goin guys
Sep 6, 2015 2:57 PM - Mike Kelly: pretty well
Sep 6, 2015 2:59 PM - NFOsec: jbig: that bites.
Sep 6, 2015 3:00 PM - krouton3: just got this 3d printer setup on friday. right now just trying to work out the kinks in it so just printing small stuff atm
    Sep 6, 2015 3:02 PM - NFOsec: cool beans.
Sep 6, 2015 3:03 PM - NFOsec: Similarly, I also got mine on Friday -- have some background in the 3D printing with another system I built, but so far I've gotten a good 30 hours of printing done. :)
Sep 6, 2015 3:03 PM - jbigler1986: Well with how much it has been moved lately its not really a surprise tbaf something broke
    Sep 6, 2015 3:03 PM - jbigler1986: That*
Sep 6, 2015 3:04 PM - krouton3: well i got mine last saturday but wasnt able to set it up till friday lol
Sep 6, 2015 3:06 PM - krouton3: so far problems im running into is the really thin first layer and filament will stop feeding partially throught print have had that hapen twice so far
    Sep 6, 2015 3:07 PM - jbigler1986: Raise the z offset
Sep 6, 2015 3:08 PM - krouton3: yea thats what im doing for the thin layer kinda lost on what to do about the feed stopping
Sep 6, 2015 3:13 PM - jbigler1986: Thats probably because its to low causing it to jam. Do you have a picture of the issue
Sep 6, 2015 3:15 PM - krouton3: i had paused the print and got it to freed again on this one but i fixed to late i guess on that one and it skipped a layer or 2 causing it not to adhere http://i.imgur.com/kQuyE0S.jpg
Sep 6, 2015 3:18 PM - jbigler1986: I meant a picture of the thin layer when it stops feeding
Sep 6, 2015 3:19 PM - jbigler1986: And if that's the filament that came with the printer its horrible filament
Sep 6, 2015 3:20 PM - krouton3: it is the filiment that came with the printer
Sep 6, 2015 3:23 PM - krouton3: heres a picture of it while it was still going on the print bed after i had already fixed it but thats the only other picture of it that i have http://i.imgur.com/kghUqK4.jpg
Sep 6, 2015 3:24 PM - krouton3: u have to look pretty close to see the skipped layer was kinda hard to get a good clear pic while it was moving
Sep 6, 2015 3:26 PM - Printed Solid: is that picture of near the top of the part?

Sep 6, 2015 3:29 PM - krouton3: the top layer was fine it was near the bottom ... you can use the first image to help you determine where the skipped layer actually was
Sep 6, 2015 3:29 PM - Printed Solid: I see it. The split spool holder, right? like JB mentioned, that filament that comes with the printer is not so great quality. You might have just hit a thick spot in the filament that was a bit hard to push.
Sep 6, 2015 3:30 PM - Printed Solid: have you seasoned the hot end yet?
Sep 6, 2015 3:30 PM - Printed Solid: I think we have it set as a sticky somewhere... A lot of people use oilers, but I prefer just a periodic seasoning.
Sep 6, 2015 3:31 PM - Printed Solid: yup. stickied in troubleshooting. http://community.robo3d.com/index.p...hotend-jam-clogs-seasoning-and-an-oiler.3564/
Sep 6, 2015 3:32 PM - krouton3: yea ill definately have to look into oilers i plan on using this thing for my cosplays
Sep 6, 2015 3:33 PM - Printed Solid: for now, if you just try wiping down a few inches of filament with some kind of vegetable oil, you'll probably be in good shape.
Sep 6, 2015 3:33 PM - jbigler1986: I prefer to just season every once in a while too
Sep 6, 2015 3:35 PM - NFOsec: yeah, sugar and oil are made from soil. :)
    Sep 6, 2015 3:35 PM - NFOsec: [IMG]
Sep 6, 2015 3:35 PM - krouton3: thanks for the advice hopefully i wont run into the problems when i put it to use

Sep 6, 2015 3:36 PM - NFOsec: I'm printing a GoPro / caemera mount that clips on front of the table rail under the glass.
    Sep 6, 2015 3:37 PM - Mike Kelly: [IMG]
Sep 6, 2015 3:37 PM - NFOsec: MK: Now that's nice. if anything, it would make an awesome thermos for a CNC shop guy.
    Sep 6, 2015 3:37 PM - NFOsec: LOL
    Sep 6, 2015 3:41 PM - Mike Glass: ?
    Sep 6, 2015 3:41 PM - Mike Kelly: fully 3d printed boot
Sep 6, 2015 3:42 PM - Mike Glass: I dont want mine to stick out that far, takes up too much bed space.
Sep 6, 2015 3:43 PM - Mike Kelly: took that into account
    Sep 6, 2015 3:43 PM - Mike Kelly: [IMG]
Sep 6, 2015 3:43 PM - Mike Kelly: i had to redesign it to be closer to the tool
Sep 6, 2015 3:44 PM - Mike Kelly: should be able to get all 24" out
Sep 6, 2015 3:44 PM - Mike Glass: im at 28, guess it would be that bad.
    Sep 6, 2015 3:44 PM - Mike Kelly: doesn't interfere at all
Sep 6, 2015 3:45 PM - Mike Kelly: the corner just takes up a lot of room in general
Sep 6, 2015 3:45 PM - Mike Kelly: this is 36"x36" tube length for 24"x24" area
Sep 6, 2015 3:47 PM - Mike Glass: I still cant get my bed level, think I have a hump in the middle
Sep 6, 2015 3:49 PM - Mike Glass: I want a 3/8 steel plate to put this on.
    Sep 6, 2015 3:50 PM - Mike Glass: My Y axis bars are 39"
Sep 6, 2015 3:52 PM - Printed Solid: that moment when you realize your parts cooling fan has been on backwards for an undetermined amount of time...
    Sep 6, 2015 3:52 PM - Mike Kelly: sucky
Sep 6, 2015 3:53 PM - donhuevo: decal always points toward airflow
Sep 6, 2015 3:53 PM - Mike Glass: Mike, you think I could use the leadsrew on the cnc?
Sep 6, 2015 3:53 PM - Mike Kelly: why not
Sep 6, 2015 3:53 PM - Mike Glass: think the nuts are larger
Sep 6, 2015 3:54 PM - donhuevo: hell yeah they are
Sep 6, 2015 3:54 PM - Mike Glass: and gold
    Sep 6, 2015 3:54 PM - NFOsec: OMG.
    Sep 6, 2015 3:54 PM - NFOsec: the innuendo.
Sep 6, 2015 3:54 PM - Mike Kelly: the nut's the same size
Sep 6, 2015 3:55 PM - Mike Kelly: you'd have to cut it to add antibacklash though
    Sep 6, 2015 3:56 PM - NFOsec: 39" for a 32" platform MG?
Sep 6, 2015 3:56 PM - Mike Glass: that or find a quality 5/16 piece, this one has a line down it, shouldnt even put it on really.
    Sep 6, 2015 3:57 PM - Mike Glass: 28" NFO
Sep 6, 2015 3:58 PM - Mike Glass: well take that back, I have 1 1/2 sticking out on one side
Sep 6, 2015 3:58 PM - NFOsec: ah, I didn't account for the the disney tram and CNC mount. :)
    Sep 6, 2015 3:58 PM - Mike Glass: so 37 1/2
    Sep 6, 2015 3:58 PM - NFOsec: still a remarkable size.
Sep 6, 2015 3:58 PM - NFOsec: for an inside thing.
Sep 6, 2015 3:59 PM - Mike Glass: Ive cut alot of stuff on it already. runs every weekend
Sep 6, 2015 3:59 PM - NFOsec: it would be cool to use a ceiling suspnsion pulley system to pull a table up and out of the way to work on a work bench or other area.
    Sep 6, 2015 3:59 PM - NFOsec: that's cool.
Sep 6, 2015 3:59 PM - NFOsec: I saw your post about aluminum yesteerday -- similarly, I don't like cutting it since it's messy. I'd rather have a jag laser to have fun there.
Sep 6, 2015 4:00 PM - Mike Glass: That it would, I have lots of floor space, once my wife remove all her "Furniture"
Sep 6, 2015 4:02 PM - NFOsec: lol, yeah, new song from WHAM! "Clutterbug"
Sep 6, 2015 4:03 PM - NFOsec: I know there are a lot of slower ways, but this looked decent.. http://3doc.i3dconverter.com/register.html
Sep 6, 2015 4:03 PM - Mike Glass: I got a complete bedroom set and 2 large dining table sets in here.
Sep 6, 2015 4:04 PM - Mike Glass: so Im using one of the tables for cutting..lol
Sep 6, 2015 4:04 PM - NFOsec: Oh lord, that means you have to host a show and tell dinner
    Sep 6, 2015 4:04 PM - NFOsec: Mike Glass's Makerspace.
    Sep 6, 2015 4:04 PM - NFOsec: MGMS
Sep 6, 2015 4:05 PM - NFOsec: Can anyone else hit the Taulman site? http://www.taulman3d.com/
Sep 6, 2015 4:06 PM - Mike Glass: I dont get what that software is for.
Sep 6, 2015 4:07 PM - Mike Glass: site opens up here fine
Sep 6, 2015 4:07 PM - NFOsec: yeah, looks like they had a hiccup for a moment.
    Sep 6, 2015 4:25 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Hey guys!
    Sep 6, 2015 4:26 PM - Mike Kelly: howdy
    Sep 6, 2015 4:26 PM - NFOsec: Hola.
Sep 6, 2015 4:27 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Say, what would you guys do? I have my E3D hotend, right? I use a desk fan for heavy cooling, but I have to be extremely careful. If I crank it up too high and too close to the print, it fails because the printhead has cooled too much.
Sep 6, 2015 4:27 PM - WayUpNorthMN: or too close*
    Sep 6, 2015 4:29 PM - Printed Solid: I've had that happen.
Sep 6, 2015 4:29 PM - Printed Solid: Run a PID autotune with the fan on.
Sep 6, 2015 4:29 PM - Printed Solid: insulate the heater block.
Sep 6, 2015 4:29 PM - Printed Solid: and/or print fan mounts so you're not using the desk fan anymore.
Sep 6, 2015 4:29 PM - WayUpNorthMN: How would I go about insulating it?
Sep 6, 2015 4:30 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Because it can even happen with my two fans on my printer.
Sep 6, 2015 4:30 PM - WayUpNorthMN: If they are too high.
Sep 6, 2015 4:30 PM - Mike Kelly: ceramic tape and kapton to hold it
Sep 6, 2015 4:30 PM - Mike Kelly: or silicone
Sep 6, 2015 4:30 PM - Printed Solid: oh, then start with the autotune.
Sep 6, 2015 4:30 PM - Printed Solid: it shouldn't be doing it with the printer fans.
Sep 6, 2015 4:31 PM - Printed Solid: there is a tempfall error that kicks on if you go 10 degrees below set point.
Sep 6, 2015 4:33 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Forgot how to do an autotune :p I need the arduino program, correct?
Sep 6, 2015 4:34 PM - Printed Solid: do you have an LCD?
Sep 6, 2015 4:35 PM - WayUpNorthMN: No, never got around to it.
Sep 6, 2015 4:35 PM - Printed Solid: ok. so, you need to send the autotune command to your printer, which I can't remember off the top of my head, but I'm sure someone else will.
Sep 6, 2015 4:35 PM - Printed Solid: Then you should write that into firmware, but you can also be lazy and put it into your start gcode.
Sep 6, 2015 4:36 PM - WayUpNorthMN: So I should run it with all of the fans on max?
    Sep 6, 2015 4:36 PM - Printed Solid: I would.
Sep 6, 2015 4:36 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Would it be unstable if I decide not to use the desk fan in a print?
Sep 6, 2015 4:37 PM - Printed Solid: If you do any printing of materials that don't use cooling, you can run it again to get another set of PID values
Sep 6, 2015 4:37 PM - Printed Solid: it will overshoot a bit.
Sep 6, 2015 4:37 PM - Printed Solid: If you've got the printed fan shrouds, that should really be enough. You shouldn't need those and a desk fan.
Sep 6, 2015 4:40 PM - WayUpNorthMN: I usually use it if I have some wicked overhangs :)
Sep 6, 2015 4:43 PM - Printed Solid: so, maybe run the PID with the built in fans on full blast, but without the desk fan. That should get you close enough so the desk fan won't shut you down.
Sep 6, 2015 4:51 PM - WayUpNorthMN: IS 10 passes enough for the PID?

Sep 6, 2015 4:53 PM - Printed Solid: Should be. I've used less with good results.
Sep 6, 2015 4:54 PM - WayUpNorthMN: So,what do you guys think about Simplify? Worth it?
Sep 6, 2015 4:54 PM - jbigler1986: Avocado oil makes food taste so good
    Sep 6, 2015 4:55 PM - jbigler1986: S3D is totally worth it
    Sep 6, 2015 4:55 PM - WayUpNorthMN: ^
    Sep 6, 2015 4:55 PM - jbigler1986: For the support material alone
Sep 6, 2015 4:58 PM - jbigler1986: I think im going to stay up really late tonight. Took forever putting my kids bunk beds together earlier so havent done much else
Sep 6, 2015 4:59 PM - Mike Kelly: Did you get a new place?
    Sep 6, 2015 5:01 PM - jbigler1986: I did. Moved in last weekend
Sep 6, 2015 5:01 PM - Printed Solid: Also a big fan of simplify. I am a reseller though, but I only carry things that I stand behind,\.
Sep 6, 2015 5:02 PM - Printed Solid: good JB.
Sep 6, 2015 5:02 PM - jbigler1986: Bought it too. Nobody can tell what to do anymore. Ha
    Sep 6, 2015 5:02 PM - jbigler1986: Tear down a wall to make a room bigger. I sure can
Sep 6, 2015 5:03 PM - jbigler1986: Although i would probably make things worse. Lol
Sep 6, 2015 5:03 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Where would be a good place to locate the M301 command for the PID, before G21?
Sep 6, 2015 5:04 PM - Printed Solid: I'd put it right at the beginning.
    Sep 6, 2015 5:04 PM - jbigler1986: How is business Matt?
Sep 6, 2015 5:05 PM - Printed Solid: not bad. definitely seeing a pick up with back to school budgets.
    Sep 6, 2015 5:05 PM - jbigler1986: Awesome
    Sep 6, 2015 5:06 PM - WayUpNorthMN: M301 P26.2 I1.96 D87.58 <-- Correct format?
Sep 6, 2015 5:06 PM - jbigler1986: Do you have any SLA machines?
Sep 6, 2015 5:06 PM - Printed Solid: interesting that you ask... I'm strongly considering adding one.
Sep 6, 2015 5:06 PM - Printed Solid: are you in the market?
    Sep 6, 2015 5:06 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Nice, matt :)
Sep 6, 2015 5:06 PM - Printed Solid: also laser cutters.
Sep 6, 2015 5:06 PM - Printed Solid: I think your format is right.
Sep 6, 2015 5:06 PM - Printed Solid: did you check it on the reprap wiki?
    Sep 6, 2015 5:07 PM - WayUpNorthMN: I watched a Tom Sanlanderer video :)
Sep 6, 2015 5:07 PM - jbigler1986: I meant you yourself. I wouldbe more interested in laser or a desktop cnc
Sep 6, 2015 5:07 PM - WayUpNorthMN: More of a visuals kind of guy.
Sep 6, 2015 5:07 PM - Printed Solid: that's about as good as anything.
Sep 6, 2015 5:07 PM - Printed Solid: I don't have one yet. I've had them int he shopping car half a dozen times, but always back out.
Sep 6, 2015 5:08 PM - Printed Solid: Once I have a dedicated location, I will do it.
Sep 6, 2015 5:08 PM - Printed Solid: I'm messy enough with scraps of filament. Can't imagine what I would do with resin.
    Sep 6, 2015 5:08 PM - jbigler1986: Sla or laser?
Sep 6, 2015 5:08 PM - Printed Solid: both probably
Sep 6, 2015 5:09 PM - jbigler1986: Sla just looks so damn messy
    Sep 6, 2015 5:09 PM - Printed Solid: exactly.
Sep 6, 2015 5:09 PM - Printed Solid: awesome prints though.
    Sep 6, 2015 5:10 PM - jbigler1986: Agreed
    Sep 6, 2015 5:10 PM - jbigler1986: And faster
Sep 6, 2015 5:12 PM - Printed Solid: I think it depends on the part.
Sep 6, 2015 5:13 PM - Printed Solid: per layer time doesn't really scale, so a big part of X height is about the same amount of time as a much smaller part of X height
Sep 6, 2015 5:13 PM - Printed Solid: however, you're typically not going to be printing huge parts via SLA, so...
Sep 6, 2015 5:13 PM - Printed Solid: and you're most likely printing at tiny layer heights.
    Sep 6, 2015 5:14 PM - jbigler1986: Parts look so gkkd though
    Sep 6, 2015 5:15 PM - Printed Solid: right?
Sep 6, 2015 5:16 PM - Printed Solid: I actually bought a bunch of parts from shapeways a while back VIA SLA because they weren't FDM printable and they were crap. I had a customer with a Form 1 do them and his were way better!
    Sep 6, 2015 5:17 PM - jbigler1986: Wonder what they used
    Sep 6, 2015 5:18 PM - Printed Solid: shapeways? I'd guess a 3dsystems machine, but I don't know.
Sep 6, 2015 5:22 PM - jbigler1986: Isnt the price of the resin way higher compared to filament
Sep 6, 2015 5:22 PM - NFOsec: Mmm... is there a minature version of Robbie available anywhere?
    Sep 6, 2015 5:23 PM - NFOsec: that is the stl/obj/whatever file?
Sep 6, 2015 5:23 PM - Printed Solid: resin is much much more expensive than filament. yes.
Sep 6, 2015 5:23 PM - Printed Solid: Robbie is on the Robo3D thingiverse
Sep 6, 2015 5:26 PM - Mike Kelly: It's called Robo the robot on there
Sep 6, 2015 5:26 PM - NFOsec: Thanks, robot was the key word I missed.
    Sep 6, 2015 5:26 PM - NFOsec: got it.
    Sep 6, 2015 6:41 PM - Bill Monroe: Hello
    Sep 6, 2015 6:52 PM - Mike Kelly:
Sep 6, 2015 7:02 PM - jbigler1986: OMG! My eyes. Those damn blue lights
    Sep 6, 2015 7:41 PM - Bill Monroe: jb
Sep 6, 2015 7:52 PM - Mike Glass: ohh blue lights
Sep 6, 2015 8:08 PM - jbigler1986: what is the program to repair stls?
    Sep 6, 2015 8:09 PM - jbigler1986: nvm netfabb'
Sep 6, 2015 8:21 PM - Mike Kelly: [IMG] Finally getting around to cleaning up my wiring
Sep 6, 2015 8:25 PM - Bigc: so that print i did printed fully with out an error has to be to much cooling
    Sep 6, 2015 8:28 PM - jbigler1986: looks good MK
Sep 6, 2015 8:31 PM - jbigler1986: my wiring is a mess right now. printer in general is a mess. reprinting the part
Sep 6, 2015 8:33 PM - Mike Glass: cool amplifier
Sep 6, 2015 8:37 PM - jbigler1986: Your power supply is to small too
    Sep 6, 2015 8:39 PM - Mike Kelly: yup it's itty bitty
Sep 6, 2015 8:46 PM - Blake Benefield: Whats the deal with the amp?
Sep 6, 2015 8:50 PM - Mike Kelly: well it's not an amp
    Sep 6, 2015 8:52 PM - Mike Kelly: it's a voltage step down regulator
    Sep 6, 2015 8:53 PM - Mike Kelly: 24v to 12v

    Sep 6, 2015 9:09 PM - bamhm182: Hey everyone
    Sep 6, 2015 9:10 PM - bamhm182: Well, MK
Sep 6, 2015 9:11 PM - bamhm182: Do you by chance know of a better X belt tensioner than the stock one?
Sep 6, 2015 9:23 PM - Mike Glass: zip tie?
Sep 6, 2015 9:24 PM - bamhm182: I was wanting something similar to what MK's got on his carriage, but I'm not ready to jump into Bowden again quite yet
Sep 6, 2015 9:25 PM - bamhm182: Something that you can tighten with a screw, similar to the Y belt
    Sep 6, 2015 9:25 PM - bamhm182: Think I might just design something myself
Sep 6, 2015 9:42 PM - Mike Glass: just a piece of plastic with a screw, should be that hard.
    Sep 6, 2015 9:54 PM - bamhm182: That's what I'm thinking
Sep 6, 2015 9:54 PM - bamhm182: Only problem I can think of is I'm wondering how well the layers are going to hold together
Sep 6, 2015 9:58 PM - Mike Glass: layer of what
Sep 6, 2015 10:04 PM - bamhm182: I'm thinking the print may fall apart due to the pressure from the belt
Sep 6, 2015 10:04 PM - bamhm182: It might not be anything to worry about though
Sep 6, 2015 10:06 PM - bamhm182: I was planning on putting a nut in it, and the best way to do that is to print it with the screw going in from the top/bottom, but maybe I'll just leave a hole and not worry about the nut actually being embedded
Sep 6, 2015 10:07 PM - Mike Glass: I just heat imbed them
    Sep 6, 2015 10:08 PM - bamhm182: Without designing a hole for it?
    Sep 6, 2015 10:10 PM - Mike Glass: yep
    Sep 6, 2015 10:11 PM - bamhm182: How would that work?
Sep 6, 2015 10:12 PM - bamhm182: I've heat embedded nuts before, but I always had some sort of hole
Sep 6, 2015 10:13 PM - Mike Glass: I have a drill press that I drill a small guide hole then chuck a thread and nut in the press heat it up and press it in.
    Sep 6, 2015 10:15 PM - bamhm182: Oh, alright, so there is a hole
Sep 6, 2015 10:17 PM - Mike Glass: dont have to but makes it easer to guide
    Sep 6, 2015 10:19 PM - bamhm182: Fair enough
Sep 6, 2015 10:52 PM - Mike Kelly: well my wirings like 90% there, gotta make a few more modifications then i'll be running 24v
Sep 6, 2015 10:53 PM - Mike Kelly: had two print failures tonight
Sep 6, 2015 10:53 PM - Mike Kelly: my tool holder failed at 97%
    Sep 6, 2015 11:01 PM - bamhm182: Man, that blows
    Sep 6, 2015 11:01 PM - bamhm182: What's the benefit to running 24V?
Sep 6, 2015 11:01 PM - bamhm182: You see the things I just did to my printer, MK?
Sep 6, 2015 11:03 PM - Mike Kelly: apparently the stepper motors work better when you feed the drivers 24v
    Sep 6, 2015 11:03 PM - Mike Kelly: i don't believe i did
Sep 6, 2015 11:06 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm not totally sold on 24v yet. Pretty easy now to swap between though if i wanted to later on
    Sep 6, 2015 11:13 PM - bamhm182: http://i.imgur.com/wuZPcInh.jpg
    Sep 6, 2015 11:13 PM - bamhm182: [IMG]
    Sep 6, 2015 11:13 PM - Mike Kelly: sweet
    Sep 6, 2015 11:13 PM - bamhm182: [IMG]
Sep 6, 2015 11:14 PM - Mike Glass: what are you doing up still MK
Sep 6, 2015 11:14 PM - bamhm182: Looped the bed cable around the back, new board only had 1 spot for power, so I had the other cables just chilling there. Stole them for the bed
Sep 6, 2015 11:15 PM - bamhm182: Also gave it a USB cable because it was hard to access. Now it's even easier than the original. Might not look as pretty, but meh
Sep 6, 2015 11:16 PM - bamhm182: Eventually I want to mod it so the USB cable is flush with the case instead of sticking out
Sep 6, 2015 11:16 PM - Mike Glass: looks better then stock
    Sep 6, 2015 11:19 PM - bamhm182: Thanks
Sep 7, 2015 5:08 AM - Bill Monroe: good morning
Sep 7, 2015 6:11 AM - Mike Glass: tough crowd
    Sep 7, 2015 6:15 AM - Bill Monroe: MG
Sep 7, 2015 6:42 AM - jbigler1986: Narcos is a great show on Netflix if you havent seen it
    Sep 7, 2015 6:42 AM - jbigler1986: Also. Happy Labor Day
Sep 7, 2015 6:48 AM - Bill Monroe: not seen narcos
Sep 7, 2015 7:04 AM - daniel871: Trying to decide whether to set up my Rambo firmware for the original HfnCs or set it up for the leadscrews and wait for them to arrive before putting the Robo back together (whenever they may or may not arrive).
    Sep 7, 2015 7:06 AM - jbigler1986: I would buy some from elsewhere
Sep 7, 2015 7:06 AM - daniel871: I've got a mystery package coming to me according to FedEx text notifications that originated out of San Diego, CA that will arrive on 9/11; but no emails from Robo (also, I ordered several things that shipped from that city last week).
    Sep 7, 2015 7:06 AM - daniel871: 2lb. package.
    Sep 7, 2015 7:07 AM - daniel871: Any recommendations?
    Sep 7, 2015 7:08 AM - jbigler1986: For leadscrews?
Sep 7, 2015 7:08 AM - daniel871: As far as a specific one to get? I can find a listing of leadscrews on OMCsteppers, but figuring out what would be the "best" thread to get is where I get indecisive.
    Sep 7, 2015 7:10 AM - daniel871: http://www.omc-stepperonline.com/linear-stepper-motors-c-3.html
    Sep 7, 2015 7:17 AM - daniel871: or maybe this? http://www.robotdigg.com/product/8/Threaded-Rod-NEMA17,-280mm-Tr8*8mm-Acme-Leadscrew
Sep 7, 2015 7:28 AM - danzca6: Moring. Anybody online that printed Mike Kelly's XXL cover?
Sep 7, 2015 7:28 AM - danzca6: pondering if I need support for the back panel or not
Sep 7, 2015 7:28 AM - jbigler1986: the robotdigg ones look good except they are a little short
Sep 7, 2015 7:29 AM - danzca6: I just got my dual fan setup done and feel a bit daring to let it go without supports
    Sep 7, 2015 7:30 AM - daniel871: Need 300mm?
Sep 7, 2015 7:30 AM - jbigler1986: well depensing on the overhangs it ay still need it
Sep 7, 2015 7:31 AM - daniel871: I printed that XXL holder with supports just to be safe, but I was using Simplify3D so they were as easy to remove as always.
Sep 7, 2015 7:32 AM - danzca6: I'm still using Cura..not bad to remove, but not that pretty of a finish. Of course it will all be inside I guess
Sep 7, 2015 7:32 AM - danzca6: It's times like this that I really want to just shell out the money for S3D
    Sep 7, 2015 7:48 AM - Bill Monroe: back
Sep 7, 2015 7:49 AM - Bill Monroe: XXL, S3D.. Daniel gets it
Sep 7, 2015 7:51 AM - NFOsec: Morning based on CST.
Sep 7, 2015 7:51 AM - Bill Monroe: its morning everywhere in the USA
Sep 7, 2015 7:52 AM - NFOsec: Bill: perhaps, but if you've been up all night, it's still yesterday. :)
    Sep 7, 2015 7:52 AM - Bill Monroe: that's a personal problem. it's still morning
Sep 7, 2015 7:53 AM - NFOsec: Ordered a few spools of things to try yesterday, Taulman 910, their Bluprint, and some Hatchbox yellow/gold.
Sep 7, 2015 7:53 AM - NFOsec: Bill: not my problem, but I know for some. :)
Sep 7, 2015 7:54 AM - Bill Monroe: hatchbox makes both yellow and gold.. both work
Sep 7, 2015 7:54 AM - NFOsec: the 910 seems to have some interesting properties. I saw a link (maybe it was Lulz?) that had a stainless steel filament, but boy, they talked about it being abbraisive but recommended more for the E3D Volcano
Sep 7, 2015 7:54 AM - Mike Glass: Bill how did you like the robo gold?
Sep 7, 2015 7:54 AM - NFOsec: yeah, I've been drooling on your yellow Robbie parts, very nice output.
Sep 7, 2015 7:54 AM - Bill Monroe: it works.. the color isnt exciting but it is gold colored
Sep 7, 2015 7:55 AM - Mike Glass: you like the hatchbox better?
Sep 7, 2015 7:55 AM - Bill Monroe: seem more like Mustard to me
    Sep 7, 2015 7:55 AM - Bill Monroe: yes
Sep 7, 2015 7:55 AM - NFOsec: You missed my post yesterday bill -- My daughtrer stopped into my work area and asked what I was doing, showed her the Robo3D stuff was working on and explained that I was printing a custom mount for a camera to do feeds like "bill". I showed your page to her, coincidently it was one with the prop getting spun (fortunately she's 18). :)
Sep 7, 2015 7:56 AM - Bill Monroe: I've got a roll of robo gold that is just crap crap crap
    Sep 7, 2015 7:56 AM - NFOsec: mustard is a good color.
    Sep 7, 2015 7:56 AM - Bill Monroe: I didnt miss it.. I responded.. 2.0
Sep 7, 2015 7:56 AM - Mike Glass: golden yello
Sep 7, 2015 7:56 AM - NFOsec: I think Robo needs to reconsider that sample shipment -- they even make comment themselves that it's a poor choice to use.
Sep 7, 2015 7:56 AM - Bill Monroe: that is my wife.. 5 years or so ago
    Sep 7, 2015 7:58 AM - NFOsec: Oh?
Sep 7, 2015 7:58 AM - NFOsec: well, the shot wsa good at least. :)
    Sep 7, 2015 7:58 AM - Bill Monroe: yep
Sep 7, 2015 7:58 AM - NFOsec: I do professional photography on the side :)
Sep 7, 2015 7:59 AM - Bill Monroe: She was a car show hostess that was hired to do some cheesecake calendar photos.. My plane was May
Sep 7, 2015 7:59 AM - NFOsec: cool. I miss the old days of working at Snap-On, it was cool to watch a lot of the calendar shoots.
Sep 7, 2015 8:00 AM - Bill Monroe: she liked the plane, I took her for a flight.. she said no to dinner, but not to lunch
Sep 7, 2015 8:00 AM - NFOsec: they had an indoor studio that could hold a few cars let alone a mock garage.
    Sep 7, 2015 8:00 AM - NFOsec: LOL.
    Sep 7, 2015 8:00 AM - NFOsec: that's the sign bill. that's the sign.
Sep 7, 2015 8:01 AM - Bill Monroe: she's older than she looks.. yoga, a positive outlook and fantastic genes came together to make perfection

Sep 7, 2015 8:02 AM - NFOsec: I've found that if I looked at my wife thru a 25 year old bottle of scotch, she's young too. not bad, nice to see folks who still take care of themselves.
    Sep 7, 2015 8:02 AM - Bill Monroe: [IMG]
    Sep 7, 2015 8:02 AM - Bill Monroe: i dont need booze :)
    Sep 7, 2015 8:03 AM - NFOsec: Yeah, and I don't drink.
Sep 7, 2015 8:04 AM - NFOsec: purty. You can let her know on behalf of the Robo3D printing community. (at least 1 of 5000)
Sep 7, 2015 8:04 AM - Bill Monroe: honestly, she's more beautiful on the inside
    Sep 7, 2015 8:04 AM - Bill Monroe: i'm very lucky
Sep 7, 2015 8:04 AM - NFOsec: would have to be to put up with a tinker-tot. cars, 3D printing, CNC, etc.
Sep 7, 2015 8:05 AM - Bill Monroe: so anyway.. Harry hasnt sent me anything new to print in the last 36 hours
    Sep 7, 2015 8:05 AM - Bill Monroe: dunno tinker-tot
Sep 7, 2015 8:05 AM - NFOsec: yeah? I asked, didn't get anything new myself, so all I have is RA18.
Sep 7, 2015 8:05 AM - NFOsec: which appears to be an obscure view of an armpit.
Sep 7, 2015 8:06 AM - Bill Monroe: I did th elast RA part so the arms are done now
Sep 7, 2015 8:06 AM - NFOsec: thought about a reprint because there were 3 pools on the very top of the curve when done (smelts)
    Sep 7, 2015 8:06 AM - NFOsec: cool.
Sep 7, 2015 8:07 AM - NFOsec: are you running more than one unit or just doing back to backs?
Sep 7, 2015 8:07 AM - Bill Monroe: if more than one fits.. I print it
Sep 7, 2015 8:07 AM - Bill Monroe: most of what I've done is huge
    Sep 7, 2015 8:07 AM - NFOsec: right.
    Sep 7, 2015 8:07 AM - NFOsec: no kidding.
Sep 7, 2015 8:08 AM - NFOsec: I'd imagine you've been through at least 2kg or 3kg worth of spools.
Sep 7, 2015 8:08 AM - NFOsec: it's going to be Robbie "Monroe" Robo with the branding -- maybe you're at least a half sponsor?
Sep 7, 2015 8:09 AM - NFOsec: but, that's thed iea for a sponsor right? Don't let anyone else get in edge-wise.
Sep 7, 2015 8:09 AM - Bill Monroe: i didnt do that on every part :)
Sep 7, 2015 8:09 AM - NFOsec: btw, talked to my neighbor, he's going to let me stop into his garage tomorrow so I'll snap that '36 for you to see.
Sep 7, 2015 8:09 AM - Bill Monroe: some have zip.. some area code.. some have Bellanca Logo...
Sep 7, 2015 8:09 AM - NFOsec: ask for the hips. Monroe hips must mean they have good absorption.
    Sep 7, 2015 8:10 AM - NFOsec: that's smart.
Sep 7, 2015 8:10 AM - Bill Monroe: one has plumbing parts inside
Sep 7, 2015 8:10 AM - Bill Monroe: another is full of BBs
    Sep 7, 2015 8:13 AM - NFOsec: HAHA... A Robbie Rattle?
    Sep 7, 2015 8:13 AM - Bill Monroe: yep :)
Sep 7, 2015 8:14 AM - NFOsec: At least you didn't print the Robot's plumbing.
Sep 7, 2015 8:14 AM - Bill Monroe: I told Harry if they were too easy, I was gunna mess with them :)
Sep 7, 2015 8:16 AM - NFOsec: what might be wild would be to put a ThinkGeek or comparable Annoy-a-tron inside one.
    Sep 7, 2015 8:16 AM - NFOsec: http://www.thinkgeek.com/product/b278/?srp=7
Sep 7, 2015 8:16 AM - Bill Monroe: ive done 12 total so far.. right at 2kilos
Sep 7, 2015 8:17 AM - NFOsec: maybe something with a remote trigger. HAHA. disposable cell phone?
    Sep 7, 2015 8:17 AM - NFOsec: ring...ring...
    Sep 7, 2015 8:18 AM - NFOsec: I want one of these... http://www.thinkgeek.com/product/b278/?srp=7
Sep 7, 2015 8:18 AM - NFOsec: oops. wrong url. sorry.
    Sep 7, 2015 8:19 AM - NFOsec:
Sep 7, 2015 8:20 AM - NFOsec: anyone know of standalone programs for converting files into STEP/STP format?
Sep 7, 2015 8:20 AM - NFOsec: I'm not looking for online versions but rather offline.
    Sep 7, 2015 8:20 AM - Bill Monroe: nope
Sep 7, 2015 8:20 AM - Bill Monroe: well, solidworks does it..
Sep 7, 2015 8:21 AM - NFOsec: Transmagic does one, but at a base of $1500 didn't appeal for me.
Sep 7, 2015 8:21 AM - NFOsec: So did my SpaceClaim, but I let the license lapse this weekend. wasn't getting the use.
Sep 7, 2015 8:21 AM - Bill Monroe: ok, back to wiring my router
Sep 7, 2015 8:22 AM - NFOsec: mmm.. looks like FreeCad covers it.
Sep 7, 2015 8:22 AM - NFOsec: ok, enjoy, back to firing up the laser.
Sep 7, 2015 8:23 AM - danzca6: man, printing in black is weird...been blue soooo long. Hopefully this hatchbox is better than robo blue
Sep 7, 2015 8:32 AM - Sonny's Robo3D: Hatchbox is pretty decent filament for the price. I have gotten better prints then the robo blue gave me
Sep 7, 2015 8:35 AM - danzca6: what temp did you run hatchbox at? I'm still at 210, but don't see a recommendation on the spool
    Sep 7, 2015 8:36 AM - Bill Monroe: 200/50
Sep 7, 2015 8:36 AM - Sonny's Robo3D: yeha I played around with temps but ended up 210c was the best temp
    Sep 7, 2015 8:36 AM - Sonny's Robo3D: for HAtchbox
Sep 7, 2015 8:37 AM - danzca6: so Bill, you went a bit lower. I may try a small part at both to see what the diff is.
Sep 7, 2015 8:38 AM - Bill Monroe: most use 195.. Hatchbox is known to like slighter cooler than most
Sep 7, 2015 8:39 AM - Bill Monroe: I run all PLA at 200.. it it wont print perfect at that temp, I dont use it
Sep 7, 2015 8:39 AM - danzca6: thanks...I'll keep that in mind for the next print
Sep 7, 2015 8:40 AM - Bill Monroe: to paraphrase Clint: " A man has to control his variables "
Sep 7, 2015 8:40 AM - Sonny's Robo3D: I read that too Bill - but I don't get the best prints at that temp - maybe it's my robo. Usually good PLA would print at lower temps
Sep 7, 2015 8:41 AM - Bill Monroe: I 'spose if your machine's temp measurement is a little off...
    Sep 7, 2015 8:42 AM - Sonny's Robo3D: Is there a way to calibrate that?
    Sep 7, 2015 8:43 AM - jbigler1986: PID tuning
Sep 7, 2015 8:43 AM - danzca6: could you use an ir thermometer to check the tip? or is the temp better measured elsewhere
Sep 7, 2015 8:44 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, I think the best way given the small area to work with, temp indicating stickers or paint would be effective
Sep 7, 2015 8:44 AM - Bill Monroe: most IR guns cant get that small of an area effectively
Sep 7, 2015 8:44 AM - Bill Monroe: PID tuning wont get it more accurate
Sep 7, 2015 8:44 AM - jbigler1986: PID tuning will get it about as good as you can
Sep 7, 2015 8:45 AM - Bill Monroe: NO, it wont
Sep 7, 2015 8:45 AM - Bill Monroe: it will get it up to temp and control temp overshoot
    Sep 7, 2015 8:45 AM - Bill Monroe: that's what it's for
Sep 7, 2015 8:45 AM - jbigler1986: unless you want to spent a bunch of money on it
    Sep 7, 2015 8:45 AM - jbigler1986: spend
Sep 7, 2015 8:46 AM - Bill Monroe: but all of the accuracy is in the sensor and it's circuitry
    Sep 7, 2015 8:46 AM - jbigler1986: thermocouple
    Sep 7, 2015 8:46 AM - Bill Monroe: possibly
    Sep 7, 2015 8:46 AM - jbigler1986: you need a board for that though
Sep 7, 2015 8:47 AM - jbigler1986: i have never had any temp issues. seems like this is the norm now for some reason
Sep 7, 2015 8:47 AM - Bill Monroe: only becuase the circuit required for resistive theomcouples is different
Sep 7, 2015 8:47 AM - Bill Monroe: never, ever, ever believe that PID tuning will make it accurate
Sep 7, 2015 8:48 AM - Bill Monroe: so many think it to be true.. expecially in the maker community
Sep 7, 2015 8:49 AM - Bill Monroe: all that being said.. if you find a temp on your machine that works.. use it
Sep 7, 2015 8:52 AM - Mike Kelly: arghhh i'm cursed, this part can't print without failing wtf
    Sep 7, 2015 8:53 AM - danzca6: what are you printing?
    Sep 7, 2015 8:53 AM - jbigler1986: Its miserable outside today
    Sep 7, 2015 8:53 AM - danzca6: MPCNC parts?
Sep 7, 2015 8:53 AM - Sonny's Robo3D: so I have a IR thermometer and I just tested it - although I'm currently printing at 215c it says 207 on the IR gun. Don't know if that is too much of a disparity
Sep 7, 2015 8:54 AM - danzca6: what does the bed temp say
    Sep 7, 2015 8:54 AM - Sonny's Robo3D: let me do it now
Sep 7, 2015 8:54 AM - jbigler1986: That's because the heat block is being heated from the inside. The outside temp will be off
    Sep 7, 2015 8:54 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah a tool holder i designed
    Sep 7, 2015 8:55 AM - Sonny's Robo3D: Jbig is right - the bed says 58 - I have it set to 60 - so that is much closer
Sep 7, 2015 8:55 AM - danzca6: bigger area as well like Bill said it would be hard to pull off of the smaller surface
Sep 7, 2015 8:56 AM - Bill Monroe: depends on the quality of your gun
    Sep 7, 2015 8:56 AM - danzca6: that too...Harbor Freight is all I have...I'm so cheap
    Sep 7, 2015 8:56 AM - Sonny's Robo3D: haha Harbor Freights for me too
Sep 7, 2015 8:56 AM - Bill Monroe: some HF stuff is awesome
