Sep 10, 2015 at 9:18 AM - NFOsec: the problem is the gap on mine was not a crisp molded line, but rather one that was cut and chip/pushed out since the edges are not clean, so that "guide" slides all over the place and is often the reason for filamenst bundling up on the spool.

Sep 10, 2015 at 7:36 PM - NFOsec: I was tempted to put together a 12x12" enclosed CNC machine using the spare NEMA-23 motors and G540 driver I had just for metal, would need to find a decent spindle with tool changer at a reasonable cost.

Sep 10, 2015 at 7:38 PM - NFOsec: well, a "router", something like a Hitachi M12V itself is < $150, a spindle would probably be closer to $500 with a small tool changer (my guess).
Sep 10, 2015 at 7:39 PM - NFOsec: still, with vacuum capabilities, dust/debris containment, it would be easy, but the reality is, I'd be better having a water-cooling based solution, so I think spindle is required.
