Sep 7, 2015 8:57 AM - Sonny's Robo3D: It's been pretty accurate though on other stuff I have tested before
Sep 7, 2015 8:58 AM - danzca6: I'm suprised by how accurate my HF calipers are for $9...of course I wouldn't be allowed in the factory with them

Sep 7, 2015 9:04 AM - NFOsec: yellow is yellow mustard, glod is dijon mustard.
Sep 7, 2015 9:05 AM - Bill Monroe: go you have any grey poupon?
Sep 7, 2015 9:05 AM - danzca6: Bill...I just about hit enter on the same thing ... great mings

Sep 7, 2015 9:07 AM - NFOsec: great mings think alike.
Sep 7, 2015 9:10 AM - NFOsec: Bill, do you find Hatchbox PLA good for 210c extrusion/50-60bed or have you been using something different?
Sep 7, 2015 9:11 AM - NFOsec: I just don't want to end up with flied lice.
Sep 7, 2015 9:12 AM - Bill Monroe: for Hatchbox PLA, and all the PLA that I use, I use 200/50
    Sep 7, 2015 9:13 AM - Bill Monroe: YMMV
Sep 7, 2015 9:16 AM - NFOsec: ok, I was wondering. I thought I remember you sayhing that yesterday. thanks.
Sep 7, 2015 9:18 AM - Mike Glass: Hatchbox abs prints like butter.
    Sep 7, 2015 9:21 AM - NFOsec: does it?
Sep 7, 2015 9:22 AM - NFOsec: I will have to look at that tomorrow.
Sep 7, 2015 9:22 AM - NFOsec: salted or unsalted?
Sep 7, 2015 9:24 AM - Mike Glass: hmm does taste anything
Sep 7, 2015 9:25 AM - Bill Monroe: Mike, how does the HB ABS handle shrinkage?
    Sep 7, 2015 9:26 AM - NFOsec: you mean when it's cold?
    Sep 7, 2015 9:26 AM - NFOsec: mwahaha. a classic donheuvo jab.
Sep 7, 2015 9:26 AM - Mike Glass: usually i will add .15mm to my parts
Sep 7, 2015 9:27 AM - Bill Monroe: maybe I should have said "warpage"
    Sep 7, 2015 9:27 AM - NFOsec: amen brudder.
    Sep 7, 2015 9:29 AM - Bill Monroe:
Sep 7, 2015 9:30 AM - NFOsec: sweet, now you have spatulaism going on.
Sep 7, 2015 9:30 AM - Mike Glass: seems if you print anything over 2 hours with abs it will warp
Sep 7, 2015 9:30 AM - Bill Monroe: quick adding skirts for warp controll.. brb
    Sep 7, 2015 9:31 AM - NFOsec: yup.
Sep 7, 2015 9:31 AM - Mike Glass: bill, you have a dust boot for your bosch, or do you need one?
Sep 7, 2015 9:31 AM - NFOsec: Mike, you ever figure out the weight thing yet?
    Sep 7, 2015 9:32 AM - Bill Monroe: I made one..
Sep 7, 2015 9:32 AM - Mike Glass: how does it attach?
Sep 7, 2015 9:33 AM - Bill Monroe: integral part of the clamp
Sep 7, 2015 9:34 AM - Mike Glass: nice, trying to come up with one for mine.
Sep 7, 2015 9:34 AM - Bill Monroe: had to use some stiffer rubber fingers.. my vacuum sucked the flimsy ones up
Sep 7, 2015 9:36 AM - Mike Glass: did you just use some vinyl?
Sep 7, 2015 9:38 AM - Bill Monroe: silicone rubber
Sep 7, 2015 9:44 AM - max longstaff: do Robo offer refund on broken printers in the first year?
Sep 7, 2015 9:44 AM - Mike Kelly: lol no
Sep 7, 2015 9:45 AM - max longstaff: my printer came broken
Sep 7, 2015 9:45 AM - Mike Kelly: did you buy it from robo
    Sep 7, 2015 9:45 AM - max longstaff: ye
Sep 7, 2015 9:45 AM - Mike Kelly: then you had 30 days to return it upon their approval
Sep 7, 2015 9:45 AM - Mike Kelly: or maybe it was 10 days
Sep 7, 2015 9:46 AM - max longstaff: that sucks
Sep 7, 2015 9:47 AM - Mike Kelly: pretty traditional really
Sep 7, 2015 9:47 AM - max longstaff: guess i shouldn't have bought from the us
    Sep 7, 2015 9:48 AM - Mike Kelly: http://cl.ly/image/1C0L1U2s3m2e
Sep 7, 2015 9:49 AM - max longstaff: it might be less than 6 months ago i got it
Sep 7, 2015 9:49 AM - NFOsec: what is broken?
Sep 7, 2015 9:49 AM - Mike Kelly: then your warranty is still honored but you're not gonna be able to return it
Sep 7, 2015 9:50 AM - Mike Glass: hey MK
Sep 7, 2015 9:51 AM - Sonny's Robo3D: Contact Robo, usually they will replace the broken piece
Sep 7, 2015 9:52 AM - Mike Kelly: sup mg
    Sep 7, 2015 9:52 AM - Sonny's Robo3D: Also why 6 months with a broken printer? Didn't use it much?
Sep 7, 2015 9:53 AM - Mike Kelly: broken is a bit of a misnomer
Sep 7, 2015 9:53 AM - Mike Kelly: not working right? broken
Sep 7, 2015 9:53 AM - max longstaff: been trying to fix it
    Sep 7, 2015 9:54 AM - Sonny's Robo3D: ^ true
Sep 7, 2015 9:54 AM - max longstaff: ye im frustrated shouldnt have used the word broken
    Sep 7, 2015 9:54 AM - Mike Kelly: it's ok
Sep 7, 2015 9:54 AM - Mike Glass: You working today Mike?
Sep 7, 2015 9:55 AM - donhuevo: happy labor day fellas
Sep 7, 2015 9:55 AM - Mike Glass: My kids went out in the neighborhood to pick up garbage, they said because its labor day and they have to work..lol
Sep 7, 2015 9:56 AM - Mike Kelly: nope no work
    Sep 7, 2015 9:56 AM - donhuevo: if it ain't fun, don't do it
Sep 7, 2015 9:59 AM - Mike Kelly: need to go finish up my wiring
Sep 7, 2015 9:59 AM - NFOsec: max: take a deep breath, explain in the forum/troubleshooting and I'm sure someone will respond quite promptly.
Sep 7, 2015 9:59 AM - NFOsec: the mind-readers are not on today.
    Sep 7, 2015 9:59 AM - NFOsec: :)
    Sep 7, 2015 10:03 AM - Bill Monroe:
    Sep 7, 2015 10:09 AM - danzca6: bill, do you have a 40mm fan on your extruder?
    Sep 7, 2015 10:09 AM - danzca6: def bigger than 25
    Sep 7, 2015 10:10 AM - jbigler1986: Probably 30. E3d comes with a 30mm fan
Sep 7, 2015 10:12 AM - danzca6: ah, saw Waldo remixed Mike's dual fan block to fit a 30mm...might have to do that some day...if not for cooling, a bit quieter I'm sure
    Sep 7, 2015 10:20 AM - Mike Kelly: neat
Sep 7, 2015 10:21 AM - danzca6: doing my first print with MK's dual fan mod...the XXL back panel. If Cura screws it up...S3D will be purchased
Sep 7, 2015 10:35 AM - Bill Monroe: My E3DV6 is totally stock
    Sep 7, 2015 10:46 AM - Mike Kelly: [IMG]
Sep 7, 2015 10:46 AM - Mike Kelly: need to diffuse the light some and swap out for a different color LED
Sep 7, 2015 10:47 AM - donhuevo: color me impressed and translucent green
    Sep 7, 2015 10:48 AM - Mike Glass: cool
    Sep 7, 2015 10:50 AM - Mike Glass: did you use a .4 nozzle?
    Sep 7, 2015 11:09 AM - Mike Kelly: yes
    Sep 7, 2015 11:13 AM - danzca6: that's really smooth
Sep 7, 2015 11:14 AM - Mike Kelly: we have some led tea candles we're using for the lighting

Sep 7, 2015 11:14 AM - Mike Kelly: i think i'm gonna try swapping in a different LED to give it some other color optiosn
Sep 7, 2015 11:19 AM - danzca6: Mike, did you print that at .1mm to get it that smooth?
Sep 7, 2015 11:19 AM - Mike Kelly: gotta say though i'm really happy with the R1.6
Sep 7, 2015 11:19 AM - Mike Kelly: nope it was at .2
Sep 7, 2015 11:20 AM - danzca6: so just the z-thread upgrade made it that smooth?
    Sep 7, 2015 11:20 AM - Mike Kelly: yup
    Sep 7, 2015 11:20 AM - danzca6: holy cow...that's awesome
Sep 7, 2015 11:21 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah it is a really great upgrade
Sep 7, 2015 11:21 AM - NFOsec: or, as one could say, a standard on the R1 +plus eh?
Sep 7, 2015 11:21 AM - danzca6: as long as the rods are straight and they ship them right
Sep 7, 2015 11:22 AM - Mike Kelly: so rite
Sep 7, 2015 11:22 AM - Mike Kelly: right NFO
Sep 7, 2015 11:22 AM - NFOsec: I wish I could say I suffered your printing curves, but your trials and tribulations ultimately yielded what I'm working with.
Sep 7, 2015 11:23 AM - NFOsec: so far going well.
Sep 7, 2015 11:24 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i hope they caught all the bent rod issues in QC and the plus is the best yet
Sep 7, 2015 11:24 AM - NFOsec: so, MK, for dual, you using the Chimera
Sep 7, 2015 11:25 AM - NFOsec: yeah, that's always the challenge isn't it, suppliers not supplying with quality/tolerances asked for.
Sep 7, 2015 11:25 AM - NFOsec: then again, the 50k people who touch the product on its' way in.
Sep 7, 2015 11:26 AM - NFOsec: customs grabbing one and bending it and saying nope, not dangerous -- just can't see them doing it to the entire shipment.
Sep 7, 2015 11:26 AM - NFOsec: so the prior units didn't have the LED lights?
Sep 7, 2015 11:28 AM - danzca6: The R1s had the LED at some version. Not sure if the R1.1 or after. The beta/kickstarter version didn't
Sep 7, 2015 11:29 AM - danzca6: I wish they would have made the lED placement and color a bit better. Seem about as useful as me putting ground effects on my Sienna
Sep 7, 2015 11:31 AM - Mike Kelly: correct NFO, running chimera at the moment
Sep 7, 2015 11:31 AM - Mike Kelly: R1's have had blue LED's since about this time last year
    Sep 7, 2015 11:31 AM - Mike Kelly: i'd call it R1.3 probably
Sep 7, 2015 11:31 AM - NFOsec: I actually did a base ground effect on mine, and inside the shell put a liner of programmables.
Sep 7, 2015 11:33 AM - NFOsec: MK: cool. It is something that I'll probably consider next time I get pleasantly bored...
Sep 7, 2015 11:34 AM - Mike Kelly: i thought the plus comes with white leds
Sep 7, 2015 11:35 AM - Mike Kelly: they're better, blue is super annoying
Sep 7, 2015 11:36 AM - NFOsec: yeah, it is white, two front corners.
    Sep 7, 2015 11:36 AM - danzca6: white would be a lot more functional
Sep 7, 2015 11:37 AM - NFOsec: yeah, I can do the red, green, blue, white, and any combination. more light helps for the weak of sight.
Sep 7, 2015 11:37 AM - NFOsec: nice thing is LEDs don't affect the workspace with radiant heat.
Sep 7, 2015 11:42 AM - danzca6: Looking at how mine is printing the angled surfaces of the back of the XXL case, I may want to order that upgrade for the z-screws
Sep 7, 2015 11:42 AM - danzca6: I wonder how long it will take to get them if I ordered today? By Christmas?
    Sep 7, 2015 11:43 AM - NFOsec: that's being conversative?
    Sep 7, 2015 11:44 AM - jbigler1986: Order the lead screws elsewhere
Sep 7, 2015 11:45 AM - Bill Monroe: Patience will pay off.. the Robo screws use brass nuts and appear to have finer pitch
Sep 7, 2015 11:46 AM - danzca6: about every 5th layer there is a noticable step just like on vertical surfaces...so odd
Sep 7, 2015 11:49 AM - NFOsec: check the object?
Sep 7, 2015 11:49 AM - danzca6: what do you mean? The model?
Sep 7, 2015 11:53 AM - Mike Kelly: i'd think robo will be shipping the lead screws much more timely now that they fulfilled the pre-orders
Sep 7, 2015 12:01 PM - danzca6: How do you post a pick in Shoutbox?
Sep 7, 2015 12:05 PM - NFOsec: yeah, da model.
Sep 7, 2015 12:05 PM - Mike Glass: Hey MK, is there a way in solidworks to join up a part and take on that profile?
Sep 7, 2015 12:05 PM - NFOsec: danz: 4th icon from the left, put the referenced location in.
Sep 7, 2015 12:06 PM - Mike Kelly: probably, what are you thinking
    Sep 7, 2015 12:06 PM - Mike Kelly:
    Sep 7, 2015 12:07 PM - danzca6: fail
    Sep 7, 2015 12:07 PM - danzca6: oh well
Sep 7, 2015 12:07 PM - Mike Glass: I have the bosch cad file want to build off of it.
Sep 7, 2015 12:07 PM - Mike Kelly: lol danza you can't link to your C drive :p
Sep 7, 2015 12:07 PM - NFOsec: post the URL location then.
    Sep 7, 2015 12:07 PM - danzca6: I don't have a URL
Sep 7, 2015 12:07 PM - Mike Kelly: upload it to imgur
Sep 7, 2015 12:08 PM - NFOsec: MK: beautiful Maybe that plane didn't get inspected properly? :) not enough thrust and trying to catch up. I have a lot of respect for those pilots.
    Sep 7, 2015 12:10 PM - danzca6: http://imgur.com/S48CGzk
    Sep 7, 2015 12:10 PM - danzca6: Thanks mike...learned something new
Sep 7, 2015 12:10 PM - Mike Kelly: that thing looks familiar
    Sep 7, 2015 12:10 PM - danzca6: lol
    Sep 7, 2015 12:10 PM - danzca6: see the step/ridge on the angle every 4-6 layers
Sep 7, 2015 12:11 PM - Mike Kelly: yup, is this with lead screws?
    Sep 7, 2015 12:11 PM - danzca6: with couplers
    Sep 7, 2015 12:11 PM - Mike Kelly: yup Z ribbing
Sep 7, 2015 12:11 PM - Mike Kelly: bigger than usual
    Sep 7, 2015 12:11 PM - danzca6: :(
Sep 7, 2015 12:12 PM - danzca6: ok, I guess the order needs to go in then
Sep 7, 2015 12:12 PM - danzca6: I want my aliens to come out as smooth as yours :)
Sep 7, 2015 12:13 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah robo should really offer them on discount
    Sep 7, 2015 12:13 PM - danzca6: robbie part for % off?
    Sep 7, 2015 12:14 PM - Mike Kelly: heh
Sep 7, 2015 12:14 PM - NFOsec: Doubtful they'll discount that. they said filament.
    Sep 7, 2015 12:14 PM - danzca6: I know, but who wants their filament
Sep 7, 2015 12:14 PM - NFOsec: but MK, you have edge, clout, cajones, whatever they call it. Ask, I'm sure they can muster a volume deal.
Sep 7, 2015 12:15 PM - Mike Kelly: danzca are you still under warranty
Sep 7, 2015 12:15 PM - NFOsec: stock Robo filament? probably no one since they don't even recommend using it (actually just the blue sent in a new order shipment)
Sep 7, 2015 12:15 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah the sample filament isn't nearly as good as what they sell
Sep 7, 2015 12:15 PM - danzca6: had it a month, but it was bought as a refurbished from Robo off of ebay and not directly from their site
Sep 7, 2015 12:15 PM - Mike Kelly: the robo3d/octave filament is actually good
    Sep 7, 2015 12:16 PM - Mike Kelly: ah
Sep 7, 2015 12:16 PM - NFOsec: yeah, which is why I think they should reconsider that practice. bad foot to start on is a clogged hot end/extruder on day one.
Sep 7, 2015 12:16 PM - danzca6: so still way less $$$ into it as if I bought it brand new
Sep 7, 2015 12:16 PM - Mike Kelly: well do this, submit a replacement part request, maybe they can offer a bit of a discount
Sep 7, 2015 12:17 PM - danzca6: I'll try that. Don't want to print my robbie part with quality like this.
Sep 7, 2015 12:17 PM - NFOsec: tell them some back alley SHoutbox member deal was offerred.
    Sep 7, 2015 12:17 PM - danzca6: ok for my own stuff
    Sep 7, 2015 12:17 PM - danzca6: lol
Sep 7, 2015 12:17 PM - Mike Kelly: yup! NFO they told me forever ago they were going to get different filament but i guess that hasn't happened
Sep 7, 2015 12:17 PM - Mike Kelly: leaves a bad impression and probably costs them money
Sep 7, 2015 12:17 PM - Mike Kelly: but that tends to happen
Sep 7, 2015 12:18 PM - Mike Kelly: print the makezine Z resonance test
    Sep 7, 2015 12:18 PM - Mike Kelly: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:533472
Sep 7, 2015 12:21 PM - danzca6: will do that when this thing finishes in about 2 hours
Sep 7, 2015 12:22 PM - danzca6: would that be a good picture to send Robo?
    Sep 7, 2015 12:22 PM - Mike Kelly: yes
Sep 7, 2015 12:22 PM - Mike Kelly: will accurately show the issue you have
Sep 7, 2015 12:22 PM - Mike Kelly: they might suggest some ways to fix it
    Sep 7, 2015 12:24 PM - NFOsec: Better yet, send this: https://www.google.com/search?q=3d+...ei=VOXtVciSG8S_eO3Bk8gC#imgrc=8ZkoYea84ZLf1M:
    Sep 7, 2015 12:25 PM - danzca6: lol...that's not a fail...that's art
Sep 7, 2015 12:25 PM - Mike Kelly: that's pretty much what i found this morning

Sep 7, 2015 12:26 PM - NFOsec: you can embellish, and show all of your projects that turned into "art".
Sep 7, 2015 12:29 PM - NFOsec: http://hackaday.com/2013/02/26/giving-3d-printed-parts-a-shiny-smooth-finish/ there are products to coat I thought, this sounds crazy simple.
Sep 7, 2015 12:34 PM - NFOsec: One of th other vids there shows a better method, but it's almost like creating a cannon.
    Sep 7, 2015 12:36 PM - Bill Monroe:
Sep 7, 2015 12:36 PM - NFOsec: dang, talk about quality work. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...-service-creates-lifelike-photo-replicas.html
Sep 7, 2015 12:37 PM - NFOsec: nice to tell us you're offline Bill.
    Sep 7, 2015 12:37 PM - Bill Monroe: refresh
Sep 7, 2015 12:46 PM - danzca6: NFO, that only works with ABS plastics
Sep 7, 2015 12:47 PM - NFOsec: yeah, I know, but still cool.
    Sep 7, 2015 12:48 PM - jbigler1986: Bill likes to do that
Sep 7, 2015 12:50 PM - danzca6: I did see a coating you could buy to put on PLA that would do something similar
Sep 7, 2015 12:50 PM - Mike Kelly: that's why i love printing in ABS
    Sep 7, 2015 12:50 PM - danzca6: was your alien ABS?
Sep 7, 2015 12:50 PM - Mike Kelly: nope PLA
    Sep 7, 2015 12:51 PM - danzca6: I've heard ABS is a love hate relationship
Sep 7, 2015 12:51 PM - danzca6: some have great luck with it, but others don't
Sep 7, 2015 12:52 PM - Mike Kelly: it's kinda like a teenagers, some days it's great and does exactly what you want, others it's a moody bitch you wanna chuck out the window
    Sep 7, 2015 12:52 PM - danzca6: LOL...I can relate to that
Sep 7, 2015 12:53 PM - Mike Kelly: PLA is a bit better but it's kinda limiting imo
Sep 7, 2015 12:53 PM - danzca6: are you using ABS for the MPCNC project?
    Sep 7, 2015 12:53 PM - Mike Kelly: si
Sep 7, 2015 12:54 PM - danzca6: I was thinking if i were to do that project, I would like to try XT
Sep 7, 2015 12:54 PM - Mike Kelly: XT is too expensive for what it's worth imo
    Sep 7, 2015 12:54 PM - danzca6: I hear it doesn't shrink but is ridgid like ABS
Sep 7, 2015 12:55 PM - danzca6: yeah, that's why it would be for special projects only :)
Sep 7, 2015 12:56 PM - danzca6: I have a gift card to Printed Solid on my Christmas list this year
    Sep 7, 2015 12:56 PM - Mike Kelly: heh
Sep 7, 2015 12:56 PM - Mike Kelly: man the filament feed guy on my rep2 keeps getting pulled back in for some reason
Sep 7, 2015 1:22 PM - jbigler1986: Throw that thing in the trash already. Or sell ot and get a UM1 or 2
    Sep 7, 2015 1:26 PM - Bill Monroe: jb
    Sep 7, 2015 1:27 PM - jbigler1986: Bill
Sep 7, 2015 1:29 PM - Mike Kelly: when you start to mow the lawn then it starts dumping rain
Sep 7, 2015 1:35 PM - jbigler1986: that sucks. I mowed first thing this morning. It's so damn hot and humid here. It sucks
    Sep 7, 2015 1:36 PM - Bill Monroe: i mowed.. wait..no, I have garderners do that...
Sep 7, 2015 1:37 PM - jbigler1986: You live in the desert. There is no grass. :D
Sep 7, 2015 1:37 PM - Bill Monroe: I live in San Diego too..
Sep 7, 2015 1:38 PM - Bill Monroe: but thanks to our dematard governor, we cant water so, not much to mow here either :)
Sep 7, 2015 1:41 PM - Mike Kelly: JB i wish i could dump the rep2 but it's not mine to do that with
Sep 7, 2015 1:43 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm also not sure what i'd replace it with, an UM1 would be nice but i don't want to restart my filament collection for 3mm
    Sep 7, 2015 1:53 PM - jbigler1986: Just have both
    Sep 7, 2015 1:56 PM - Mike Kelly: lol
Sep 7, 2015 1:56 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah i'm not buying filament again, got so much
Sep 7, 2015 1:56 PM - Mike Kelly: i'll just wait for my bigbox
    Sep 7, 2015 2:01 PM - jbigler1986: How long for that
    Sep 7, 2015 2:12 PM - Mike Kelly: *shrugs*
Sep 7, 2015 2:12 PM - krouton3: im looking at the layer view of this object i was going to make... its missing layers 30 -50 in maatter control
    Sep 7, 2015 2:12 PM - krouton3: hmmm
    Sep 7, 2015 2:13 PM - Mike Kelly: step 1: uninstall MC
    Sep 7, 2015 2:13 PM - krouton3: so hows every1 else doing today
    Sep 7, 2015 2:13 PM - Mike Kelly: step 2: install cura
    Sep 7, 2015 2:13 PM - Mike Kelly: :)
    Sep 7, 2015 2:28 PM - krouton3: installing now
Sep 7, 2015 2:30 PM - NFOsec: What kind of settings for Cura?
    Sep 7, 2015 2:30 PM - NFOsec: Ah, the other and R1, no R1 +?
Sep 7, 2015 2:33 PM - Mike Kelly: be sure you install 15.04.02
Sep 7, 2015 2:33 PM - Mike Kelly: that has R1 settings preconfigured
Sep 7, 2015 2:33 PM - Mike Kelly: i think you need to click other when choosing the download
Sep 7, 2015 2:37 PM - NFOsec: yeah, wasn't sure much diff between R1 and R1 +plus from that perspective.
Sep 7, 2015 2:37 PM - jbigler1986: Wherever my wife had my filament it has absorbed moisture. Atleast this spool. Its been popping. Ugh
Sep 7, 2015 2:37 PM - NFOsec: I use S3D, but trying Cura, haven't since the Zenbot days.
    Sep 7, 2015 2:37 PM - jbigler1986: Cura is pretty good
    Sep 7, 2015 2:38 PM - jbigler1986: I like Repetier better though
Sep 7, 2015 2:39 PM - krouton3: cura is giving me a less filament usage esimate guess its running a different base infill
Sep 7, 2015 2:42 PM - NFOsec: yeah, doesn't "print" for me, starts but just sits. :)
Sep 7, 2015 2:43 PM - Mike Kelly: NFO there's no major difference
Sep 7, 2015 2:43 PM - Mike Kelly: lead screws is all firmware
Sep 7, 2015 2:44 PM - krouton3: better do a couple small test prints to adjest the z offset (whever i can even find that setting lol
Sep 7, 2015 2:45 PM - NFOsec: yeah, I do remember the interface from Cura way back when. So, I did a "print", went to holding pattern for temp / bed, then when reached, sat there. button for "print" was available, but clicking just holding pattern. I was doing the default robot they had
Sep 7, 2015 2:53 PM - jbigler1986: Krouton, for cura you have to add the z offset and autolevel in the start gcode
Sep 7, 2015 3:00 PM - NFOsec: I take it there is no interface for controlling the extruder xyz like MH and S3D?
    Sep 7, 2015 3:02 PM - jbigler1986: There is. Pronterface
    Sep 7, 2015 3:04 PM - NFOsec: Pronterface?
    Sep 7, 2015 3:13 PM - NFOsec: gotcha. thanks.
    Sep 7, 2015 3:13 PM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
Sep 7, 2015 3:14 PM - NFOsec: Yeah, kinda like the benefits of Mach3
Sep 7, 2015 3:23 PM - krouton3: well time to wait 15min so i can see how well this test print goes
Sep 7, 2015 3:23 PM - krouton3: and im also curious about how well the support structures come off
Sep 7, 2015 3:28 PM - krouton3: ok looks like i dont need to mess with z offset didnt seem to smoosh the first layer so thats a good sign
    Sep 7, 2015 5:37 PM - Bill Monroe: quiet
Sep 7, 2015 5:37 PM - Bill Monroe: Everyone must be at the BBQ
    Sep 7, 2015 5:40 PM - bamhm182: Hey Bill
    Sep 7, 2015 5:41 PM - Bill Monroe: hi
    Sep 7, 2015 5:42 PM - Bill Monroe:
    Sep 7, 2015 5:42 PM - bamhm182: Nice, what is it?
Sep 7, 2015 5:43 PM - Bill Monroe: a cover and a switch mount for my CNC router
    Sep 7, 2015 5:43 PM - bamhm182: Sweet
Sep 7, 2015 5:44 PM - bamhm182: So I notice that everyone has the X- switch mounted on the carriage instead of the original location. Why?
Sep 7, 2015 5:46 PM - Bill Monroe: that's original on some machines, like mine
    Sep 7, 2015 5:46 PM - bamhm182: Oh, nevermind then
Sep 7, 2015 5:57 PM - NFOsec: Bill, you're printing that in PLA?
    Sep 7, 2015 5:57 PM - Bill Monroe: yup
Sep 7, 2015 6:09 PM - NFOsec: what are you modeling with these days?
Sep 7, 2015 6:10 PM - Bill Monroe: you mean cad? I've used Solidworks exclusively since 1995
Sep 7, 2015 6:11 PM - NFOsec: That's almost what I assumed earlier when you mentioend that. My early days were with Pro-E, AutoCad, then dabbled in a number of other products, but never went full dive on SW. I had used SpaceClaim for about 2 years, great product for what it does on rapid modeling, etc. but the price is least desired.
Sep 7, 2015 6:12 PM - Bill Monroe: I did Pro-E in the 80s Autocrud in the early 90s.. when Solidworks was introduced it was exactly what I needed
Sep 7, 2015 6:14 PM - NFOsec: yeah, silmiar trend 80s/90s. I saw SolidWorks at a few trade shows. drooled like always, but hey...
Sep 7, 2015 6:14 PM - NFOsec: It's not my field of expertise anymore/anyway, so I figured no loss.
Sep 7, 2015 6:14 PM - Bill Monroe: i did a little intergraphics in the 80s too.. required sititng next to a mainframe.. all I did was design handles for Shick
Sep 7, 2015 6:16 PM - NFOsec: talk about change in processing power eh? :)
Sep 7, 2015 6:22 PM - Mike Kelly: hurray, finally successfully finished this print

Sep 7, 2015 6:25 PM - Bill Monroe: I dunno.. intergraphics was pretty crude.. It needed the mainframe :)
Sep 7, 2015 6:29 PM - jim3Dbot: Just stopin' by, to say Happy Labor Day to you'all....
Sep 7, 2015 6:34 PM - bamhm182: Thanks, jim. Happy labor day to you, too
    Sep 7, 2015 6:35 PM - jim3Dbot: Hot one here, 90's
Sep 7, 2015 6:36 PM - bamhm182: So I was having issues with leveling and couldn't figure out why. When I did the z-axis upgrade, I took the rods off my old motors. I put them back together to put them back in, and I guess the plumber's tape(??) lost its traction, so it was VERY loose
Sep 7, 2015 6:37 PM - bamhm182: Ended up doing what Novice Expert did and replaced the stock couplers with some with two screws that dig into the rod instead of relying on friction. Don't know where the second new coupler went, but based off of the first one, it's not going ANYWHERE
Sep 7, 2015 6:37 PM - bamhm182: Dang, that is pretty hot. I have no idea how hot it was here, I slept until 7 PM
Sep 7, 2015 6:39 PM - danzca6: Bamhm where did you get the new couplers?
Sep 7, 2015 6:40 PM - jim3Dbot: NW Pa by the great lakes...shouldn't be that hot, but is........not complaining tho'......november not far away....
Sep 7, 2015 6:40 PM - danzca6: MK, about to print the front cover for the XXL. With two fans now, should I even bother with supports in Cura for the radius near the bottom/front?
Sep 7, 2015 6:40 PM - bamhm182: Amazon, give me a sec and I'll get you more info
    Sep 7, 2015 6:42 PM - danzca6: like these? http://www.amazon.com/3D-CAM-Flexib...qid=1441676723&sr=8-2&keywords=reprap+coupler
    Sep 7, 2015 6:43 PM - bamhm182: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KHTVOEU?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00
    Sep 7, 2015 6:43 PM - bamhm182: Yeah, basically
    Sep 7, 2015 6:44 PM - bamhm182:
    Sep 7, 2015 6:44 PM - bamhm182: That's the video that he explains what's going on in
    Sep 7, 2015 6:45 PM - bamhm182: Your XXL has two fans? :S
    Sep 7, 2015 6:45 PM - danzca6: har har...no
Sep 7, 2015 6:46 PM - bamhm182: I was about to say. So it's an XXL case that extends over the RAMPS for fans?
Sep 7, 2015 6:47 PM - danzca6: I have the dual cooling fans and now I'm trying to get the XXL contoller case printed so I can untie my laptop from the Robo
Sep 7, 2015 6:47 PM - danzca6: I did the back plate and found some z-ribbing happening...so I will probably print the whole thing over once I get that worked out
Sep 7, 2015 6:47 PM - bamhm182: The XXL is probably my favorite upgrade
Sep 7, 2015 6:48 PM - bamhm182: Life got SO much easier when I did that one
    Sep 7, 2015 6:48 PM - bamhm182: You see my fans?
Sep 7, 2015 6:48 PM - danzca6: these new couplers an alternate to the z-screw upgrade?
    Sep 7, 2015 6:48 PM - bamhm182: [IMG]
    Sep 7, 2015 6:48 PM - bamhm182: I don't know how to answer that...
    Sep 7, 2015 6:49 PM - bamhm182: I wouldn't say they're an alternative because the Z-screws "should" be much better
    Sep 7, 2015 6:49 PM - danzca6: ok
Sep 7, 2015 6:49 PM - bamhm182: However, it should be a lot better than stock in theory
    Sep 7, 2015 6:49 PM - danzca6: did you flip your psu?
    Sep 7, 2015 6:49 PM - bamhm182: Yeah
    Sep 7, 2015 6:49 PM - bamhm182: Took after MG
    Sep 7, 2015 6:50 PM - bamhm182: [IMG]
Sep 7, 2015 6:50 PM - danzca6: anymore fans under there, it might start to hover
Sep 7, 2015 6:50 PM - danzca6: so what did flipping the psu do? Quiter?
    Sep 7, 2015 6:50 PM - danzca6: Quieter
Sep 7, 2015 6:51 PM - bamhm182: It allowed me to put a bigger fan on it
    Sep 7, 2015 6:51 PM - bamhm182: A bigger, quieter fan
    Sep 7, 2015 6:51 PM - danzca6: I can see that, so that's a yes
Sep 7, 2015 6:51 PM - bamhm182: If I don't have that big black fan on there, it's SILENT now
Sep 7, 2015 6:51 PM - danzca6: hmmm, may have to add that to the growing list of mods
Sep 7, 2015 6:52 PM - bamhm182: That big black fan is pretty loud, but I mean, at 12V, it puts off 65 CFM
Sep 7, 2015 6:52 PM - bamhm182: I have it plugged into 5V so it's a bit quieter, but still cools my board like a BOSS
Sep 7, 2015 6:55 PM - bamhm182: I'm going to have to ground down one of my Z-axis motors before putting it back together, but that's not a big deal
Sep 7, 2015 6:56 PM - NFOsec: bill: what speed/feed are you pushing on the current covers? It looks like a lot more than 60mm/sec.
Sep 7, 2015 6:56 PM - bamhm182: I also need to, sooner rather than later, turn recheck my stepper drivers. I feel like my Y is too low
Sep 7, 2015 6:58 PM - danzca6: you are far ahead of me. I hope to learn how to troubleshoot and calibrate things as well as some of you on here.
Sep 7, 2015 6:58 PM - bamhm182: Haha, yeeesss! yessssss! The illusion is real!
Sep 7, 2015 6:59 PM - bamhm182: In all honesty, the only reason I know as much as I do is because of how many times I've fucked up
Sep 7, 2015 7:00 PM - bamhm182: The stepper motor drivers had me screwed up for a solid month
    Sep 7, 2015 7:02 PM - danzca6: failure is the best teacher
Sep 7, 2015 7:02 PM - danzca6: speaking of failure, going for it, no support
Sep 7, 2015 7:02 PM - danzca6: It really should handle the slight radius now
Sep 7, 2015 7:06 PM - bamhm182: Got a picture of your two cooling fans?
    Sep 7, 2015 7:09 PM - danzca6: using MK's dual fan block with 2 40x10 fans
    Sep 7, 2015 7:11 PM - bamhm182: I read that as 240x10. >_<
    Sep 7, 2015 7:13 PM - danzca6: oh, that would be huge
    Sep 7, 2015 7:13 PM - danzca6: ha
Sep 7, 2015 7:13 PM - danzca6: imgur is busy or else I would send you a link to the pic
    Sep 7, 2015 7:13 PM - bamhm182: Yeah, haha
Sep 7, 2015 7:14 PM - bamhm182: so it seems like it does a pretty good job of keeping you cool?
Sep 7, 2015 7:15 PM - danzca6: It worked well on the back plate, but I used supports...hopefully now i will not need it as much
Sep 7, 2015 7:20 PM - bamhm182: One of my favorite things about this hobby is how many directions you can take it in
Sep 7, 2015 7:20 PM - bamhm182: I mean, the only Robos that are the same as the rest are the ones that are waiting to be shipped
Sep 7, 2015 7:21 PM - bamhm182: That and the ones that are owned by people afraid to get their hands dirty, haha
Sep 7, 2015 7:23 PM - danzca6: I agree. It's very exciting, but it does put me outside of my comfort zone at times. That's a good thing, because that makes a person grow and realize that it's ok. I am glad I got the Robo. Good price point and plenty of fun customizations to play with while not printing legos for the kids. :)
Sep 7, 2015 7:26 PM - danzca6: well, time for this old fart to go to bed. Take care gentlemen and enjoy the last hours of Labor Day! Happy printing and thanks for all the help today.
    Sep 7, 2015 7:35 PM - bamhm182: Alright, later dan
Sep 7, 2015 7:39 PM - NFOsec: Are the auto-level zones all supposed to be within the "heat zone" square or is the range bigger?
Sep 7, 2015 7:41 PM - Mike Kelly: the square on the bed is indication of nothing
Sep 7, 2015 7:41 PM - NFOsec: Seems about 3.5" from the front end of the bed and about 2-2.5" from the back end are the outer margins.
    Sep 7, 2015 7:41 PM - NFOsec: yeah, I figured that now, it's roughly a matrix of 9.
Sep 7, 2015 7:42 PM - NFOsec: MK: it does indicate it's hot - LOL
Sep 7, 2015 7:43 PM - NFOsec: I'm printing robbie from the stock library.
    Sep 7, 2015 7:44 PM - Mike Kelly: lol
Sep 7, 2015 7:44 PM - NFOsec: I already did a mash up of a mini-robbie and dropped a funnel on his head for a filament feeder. The stock one on the Robo3D doesn't stay put or move smoothly.
Sep 7, 2015 7:44 PM - Mike Kelly: fair enough
Sep 7, 2015 7:44 PM - NFOsec: MK: you bet.
Sep 7, 2015 7:45 PM - NFOsec: I'm doing the stock Robbie in Hatchbox glod, the new color I got delivered today.
Sep 7, 2015 7:46 PM - NFOsec: I wonder if Hatcbox is aware... LOL. OMG, potentially thousands of labels all because someone had just a teeny bit too much to drink the night before.
Sep 7, 2015 7:46 PM - NFOsec: MK: did you see the new color?
    Sep 7, 2015 7:46 PM - NFOsec: Glod PLA
    Sep 7, 2015 8:19 PM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
Sep 7, 2015 8:19 PM - Blake Benefield: Anyone have that PLA casted bust MK linked a week or 2 back?
Sep 7, 2015 8:20 PM - jbigler1986: This is why i love 3d printers. To make stuff like this. I didnt feel like buying one
Sep 7, 2015 8:22 PM - Mike Glass: haha nice jb
    Sep 7, 2015 8:28 PM - jbigler1986: First full print in over a month
Sep 7, 2015 8:29 PM - Mike Glass: looks good
Sep 7, 2015 8:30 PM - jbigler1986: Its a little rough. Extruder wasnt fully tightened down. So the hotend wiggled some. It will work though
Sep 7, 2015 8:34 PM - bamhm182: I love 3d printers mostly for making things you can't just buy, looks good though, jb
Sep 7, 2015 8:34 PM - bamhm182: Glad you got your printer back and stuff
Sep 7, 2015 8:38 PM - Mike Kelly: Pla casted bust?
Sep 7, 2015 8:43 PM - Blake Benefield: Was a little womans figure
Sep 7, 2015 8:43 PM - Blake Benefield: Friend that runs the casting group...
Sep 7, 2015 8:43 PM - bamhm182: Or like these speaker mounts. I have these speakers that are supposed to sit on a desk. Made some mounts so I could attach them to my wall
    Sep 7, 2015 8:43 PM - bamhm182: Can't buy those
Sep 7, 2015 8:46 PM - Mike Kelly: bam, can't buy these: [IMG]
    Sep 7, 2015 8:47 PM - bamhm182: Very true

    Sep 8, 2015 4:54 AM - jbigler1986: the esurance one looks photopshopped
Sep 8, 2015 4:56 AM - jbigler1986: nvm. it's the angle they were standing at
    Sep 8, 2015 4:56 AM - daniel871: Esurance one probably is.

Sep 8, 2015 5:02 AM - JeffTheMess: not to bad
Sep 8, 2015 5:16 AM - JeffTheMess: anyone printing thats not a part of the robbie
    Sep 8, 2015 5:16 AM - Bill Monroe:
Sep 8, 2015 5:17 AM - JeffTheMess: what you printing?
    Sep 8, 2015 5:18 AM - Bill Monroe: hold a sec
    Sep 8, 2015 5:18 AM - jbigler1986: not right now no. didn't start anything before I left
Sep 8, 2015 5:20 AM - Bill Monroe: There.. on screen now.. cover for one of the drives on my CNC router.
    Sep 8, 2015 5:20 AM - JeffTheMess: nice
Sep 8, 2015 5:21 AM - Bill Monroe: nothing prints better than Hatchbox blue...
    Sep 8, 2015 5:21 AM - JeffTheMess: (hatchbox period)
    Sep 8, 2015 5:21 AM - Bill Monroe: which 2.0 called "snatchbox"
Sep 8, 2015 5:22 AM - JeffTheMess: ahh i see what she did there
Sep 8, 2015 5:23 AM - Bill Monroe: ya.. it was a slip of the tongue
Sep 8, 2015 5:26 AM - JeffTheMess: anybody has a good method for making 3d parts looks seamless? I dont want it to look like it was multiple parts glued together
    Sep 8, 2015 5:26 AM - Bill Monroe: lots of post-processing
Sep 8, 2015 5:28 AM - JeffTheMess: flexidip did pretty good but i had to start over because I didn't like the way it looked
Sep 8, 2015 5:28 AM - Bill Monroe: when I print founry patterns, the vertical surfaces must be absolutely smooth..
Sep 8, 2015 5:29 AM - Bill Monroe: I get a tube of spotting putty from the autozone and thin it with lacquer until it's like pancake batter, then paint all the surfaces
Sep 8, 2015 5:30 AM - Bill Monroe: lacquer thinner
Sep 8, 2015 5:30 AM - Bill Monroe: then sand with 220 just until the plastic starts to show
Sep 8, 2015 5:30 AM - Bill Monroe: two coats of paint, some pastewax, and it's ready to make metal :)
    Sep 8, 2015 5:31 AM - JeffTheMess: nice
Sep 8, 2015 5:31 AM - JeffTheMess: just the putty alone may work for my application
Sep 8, 2015 5:31 AM - Bill Monroe: once I'm finished moving the foundry, I'll be back into lost PLA
Sep 8, 2015 5:32 AM - Bill Monroe: it's pretty thick, like toothpaste
Sep 8, 2015 5:32 AM - Bill Monroe: thinning it makes it easier to sand all the excess off
Sep 8, 2015 5:33 AM - JeffTheMess: i heard people use good ol' plaster and water
Sep 8, 2015 5:33 AM - Bill Monroe: ya.. too brittle for me and it doesnt stick very good
Sep 8, 2015 5:35 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah i tried it once with success but it may not work for my quad
    Sep 8, 2015 5:35 AM - Bill Monroe: copter?
    Sep 8, 2015 5:36 AM - JeffTheMess: yup
    Sep 8, 2015 5:36 AM - Bill Monroe: WEIGHT!!!!
Sep 8, 2015 5:37 AM - Bill Monroe: fill is bad...
Sep 8, 2015 5:37 AM - Bill Monroe: "Be anal about wieght if one is to aviate"
Sep 8, 2015 5:37 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah but i only using it on the seams plus i wont be doing 3d stunts
    Sep 8, 2015 5:38 AM - JeffTheMess: lol i like that one
Sep 8, 2015 5:38 AM - Bill Monroe: i made it up when I was a kid... used to design RC planes
Sep 8, 2015 5:42 AM - Bill Monroe: i cant believe I used up a whole permasleeve cartridge in one day...
Sep 8, 2015 5:46 AM - Bill Monroe: gads, Amazon is really pushing their subscribe-and-save deal today
    Sep 8, 2015 5:53 AM - jbigler1986: ?
    Sep 8, 2015 5:53 AM - jbigler1986: amazon home services? wtf
Sep 8, 2015 5:54 AM - Bill Monroe: ya.. you know.. have something selievery monthly
    Sep 8, 2015 5:55 AM - Bill Monroe: delivered
    Sep 8, 2015 5:55 AM - Bill Monroe: jb
    Sep 8, 2015 5:55 AM - jbigler1986: ahhh
Sep 8, 2015 6:02 AM - daniel871: Looking to get in on the feminine hygiene product, Amazon?
    Sep 8, 2015 6:02 AM - daniel871: product market
Sep 8, 2015 6:05 AM - danzca6: Bill, I printed a first layer using hatchbox last night at 200/50 like you mentioned yesterday and it had small gaps between the lines. Not sure if that was a temp thing or if I need to just lower my z-offset
Sep 8, 2015 6:06 AM - daniel871: Could also be one of the extrusion width parameters in the slicer.
Sep 8, 2015 6:06 AM - danzca6: yeah, I was wondering if my robo blue to hatchbox black might have a bit of a clog starting
Sep 8, 2015 6:07 AM - danzca6: I was going to order some cleaner filament from Matt to see if that helps at all
Sep 8, 2015 6:08 AM - danzca6: when I extrude off the plate manually it curls instead of coming straight down
    Sep 8, 2015 6:08 AM - Bill Monroe: n eed to lower
    Sep 8, 2015 6:08 AM - jbigler1986: ^
Sep 8, 2015 6:08 AM - danzca6: ok, I will play with that tonight when I get home
Sep 8, 2015 6:09 AM - Bill Monroe: ok, and lower your first layer too
    Sep 8, 2015 6:10 AM - danzca6: wouldn't changing the z-offset do that for the first layer?
    Sep 8, 2015 6:11 AM - Bill Monroe: yup
    Sep 8, 2015 6:11 AM - danzca6: ok, just making sure I understood. Thanks
Sep 8, 2015 6:13 AM - Bill Monroe: so sad.. Seaworld turned the Atlantis Restaraunt into a "research facility"
Sep 8, 2015 6:17 AM - Bill Monroe: I ownder how hatchbox white would work?
    Sep 8, 2015 6:17 AM - Bill Monroe: and I wonder too
Sep 8, 2015 6:21 AM - daniel871: Hatchbox White worked pretty good for me when I printed the T-rex head a while back.
Sep 8, 2015 6:21 AM - daniel871: Other than the random burn streaks in it.
Sep 8, 2015 6:22 AM - daniel871: Or the random gnats that flew into the print drawn by the blue light on white filament back before I put the enclosure on the printer, whichever.
Sep 8, 2015 6:25 AM - danzca6: I have a spool of their white that I was going to print lithopanes with
Sep 8, 2015 6:25 AM - danzca6: maybe I should get the enclosure, or not print with the windows open
Sep 8, 2015 6:27 AM - Bill Monroe: maybe you should get screens and a bug zapper
    Sep 8, 2015 6:28 AM - daniel871: The white works great for lithophanes, danzca6.
Sep 8, 2015 6:28 AM - daniel871: Ended up being what I used the rest of it for.
Sep 8, 2015 6:28 AM - Bill Monroe: the have transparent white? that's wacky
Sep 8, 2015 6:29 AM - daniel871: Something about the lithophane generator I use makes it mostly-hollow and you get some pretty good shadowing effects when you hold the finished print up to a light.
    Sep 8, 2015 6:30 AM - danzca6: which generator did you use?
    Sep 8, 2015 6:31 AM - daniel871: The one in the Lithophane thread I posted here: http://community.robo3d.com/index.php?threads/how-to-lithophane.6236/
Sep 8, 2015 6:34 AM - danzca6: wow...that is really cool. I was just using a thingiverse customizer, but the site you used looks far better
    Sep 8, 2015 6:35 AM - danzca6: that eagle is awesome
Sep 8, 2015 6:36 AM - daniel871: I wish there was a way to download the backend that site uses so people could keep using it when that site inevitably disappears at some point.
Sep 8, 2015 6:36 AM - Bill Monroe: Could you do a Dale Earnhart Commemorative dinner plate?

Sep 8, 2015 6:40 AM - Bill Monroe: or maybe onf of those Ahraham Lincoln heads that looks like his eyes follow you?
Sep 8, 2015 6:40 AM - NFOsec: Bill: You an Earnhart fan?
Sep 8, 2015 6:40 AM - Bill Monroe: not even a tiny bit
Sep 8, 2015 6:41 AM - daniel871: Do you have an image of one?
Sep 8, 2015 6:43 AM - NFOsec: I do a lot of lithophane stuff. I typically use candlestonegifts.com's material on my CNC and laser. it's awesome stuff to do.
Sep 8, 2015 6:44 AM - NFOsec: Bill: ok, was wondering becauxse I happened to have a collector die cast I was going to give away from my days at Snap-On LOL.
    Sep 8, 2015 6:44 AM - daniel871: Wish I could post STL files.
Sep 8, 2015 6:45 AM - NFOsec: Does Robo3D send anything from Worldtrans Services in San Diego?
Sep 8, 2015 6:45 AM - Bill Monroe: no idea
Sep 8, 2015 6:46 AM - NFOsec: strangest thing, there is some 33lb package being delivered today via FedEx, and I have no clue on the source other than that.
Sep 8, 2015 6:46 AM - NFOsec: if something happens, it was nice knowing you guys.
    Sep 8, 2015 6:46 AM - daniel871: Congratulations on winning the R1+ maybe?
Sep 8, 2015 6:47 AM - Bill Monroe: they send stuff to me fedex
Sep 8, 2015 6:47 AM - Bill Monroe: which is a laugh since I'm 7 miles from them
Sep 8, 2015 6:49 AM - daniel871: Quick and dirty, but see if this works Bill: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1003962
Sep 8, 2015 6:49 AM - daniel871: My robo is down while waiting for straight leadscrews to come in.
Sep 8, 2015 6:50 AM - Bill Monroe: i'm not going to print it..
Sep 8, 2015 6:50 AM - Bill Monroe: I was goofing with ya
Sep 8, 2015 6:51 AM - daniel871: I may go find a better source image to make a better STL out of later.
Sep 8, 2015 6:51 AM - daniel871: Would still be neat to make at some point.
Sep 8, 2015 6:51 AM - Bill Monroe: to me lithopains are on par with commemerative plates, spoon, and ball cap collections. Dust collectng chinze often seen in double wides :)
    Sep 8, 2015 6:52 AM - Bill Monroe: but, that's just me
    Sep 8, 2015 6:53 AM - daniel871: Easy money, though.
Sep 8, 2015 6:54 AM - danzca6: Bill, 7 miles from Robo, no wonder why you are printing 80% of Robbie. No shipping costs
Sep 8, 2015 6:54 AM - Bill Monroe: well, here's another reason robo has so much trouble with delieveries.. they use an independent company to handle stuff apparently
    Sep 8, 2015 6:55 AM - JeffTheMess: really?
Sep 8, 2015 6:55 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, the return address on the bo is a place well-known to ba an independed fullfillment center
    Sep 8, 2015 6:56 AM - Bill Monroe: https://www.google.com/maps/place/7...6656!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0x90694c457acf318c!6m1!1e1
Sep 8, 2015 6:56 AM - NFOsec: Bill: no doubt. Lithophanes were my number one gift making thing for the photography I did last year.
    Sep 8, 2015 6:56 AM - NFOsec: Bill: the distance, that's funny.
Sep 8, 2015 6:57 AM - NFOsec: daniel: you can't win if there isn't a contest (other than Robbie printing for 2016 CES right?)
Sep 8, 2015 6:57 AM - Bill Monroe: i prefer my dust collectors to be machines or something I can fly
Sep 8, 2015 6:58 AM - NFOsec: Bill: why not use mini ducted jet fan engines (for RC planes) as the intake? Vvrrroom.
Sep 8, 2015 6:58 AM - NFOsec: properly foiled glider wings can fit on just about anything for a fuselage.
Sep 8, 2015 6:58 AM - NFOsec: EAA has proven that time and time again in Oshkosh.
Sep 8, 2015 6:59 AM - Bill Monroe: maybe you should switch to decaf?
Sep 8, 2015 7:00 AM - NFOsec: HA! Mt. Dew buddy. but no, no reason to stymie the creativity.
Sep 8, 2015 7:00 AM - JeffTheMess: not into helicopters much be its cool
Sep 8, 2015 7:01 AM - NFOsec: I always thought it was cool how people could make an era out of a specific design pattern (streamline, steampunk, etc.) yet when you ask them to create something more elaborate, you get a square with wings on it.
    Sep 8, 2015 7:01 AM - NFOsec: OH MAN. Now THAT's nice.
    Sep 8, 2015 7:01 AM - Bill Monroe: :)
    Sep 8, 2015 7:01 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah
Sep 8, 2015 7:02 AM - NFOsec: but, there is a great big difference there, the pilot is quite skilled because those are a lot more difficult to fly.
Sep 8, 2015 7:03 AM - JeffTheMess: thats why im sticking to quadcopter with gps to help me keep it stable
Sep 8, 2015 7:03 AM - NFOsec: drones have plenty of piezo gyros to stabilize and such whereas those babies rely on you. Yaw would take on a whole new meaning with a DSLR camera on that thing involved in a crash.
    Sep 8, 2015 7:03 AM - NFOsec: I have DraganFlyers (several generations)
    Sep 8, 2015 7:03 AM - JeffTheMess: oh yeah
Sep 8, 2015 7:04 AM - Bill Monroe: news break: RC planes use gytos too, since the 80s
Sep 8, 2015 7:04 AM - Bill Monroe: err gyros
    Sep 8, 2015 7:04 AM - JeffTheMess: nice
Sep 8, 2015 7:04 AM - NFOsec: Bill: I kind of wondered about that.
Sep 8, 2015 7:04 AM - NFOsec: I figured there has to be a way they handle stabilizing, etc. when on auto-pilot.
Sep 8, 2015 7:05 AM - Bill Monroe: I was there when Chip Hyde got caught using some on a pattern plane at a contest.. was thew catalyst to banning them
Sep 8, 2015 7:05 AM - Bill Monroe: autopilots are not permitted when follwing AMA guidelines
Sep 8, 2015 7:05 AM - NFOsec: I'm in no way, shape or form an expert, but just a good hobby enthusiast with RC stuff. chopters, quads, cars, trucks, robots, and 3 planes (FA-18, Fan Trainer, and Bird Bird (an 8' wingspan glider)
Sep 8, 2015 7:06 AM - NFOsec: I can imagine bill, what a way to cheat.
Sep 8, 2015 7:06 AM - NFOsec: what would tip them off? inspection? too clean of patterns?
Sep 8, 2015 7:06 AM - Bill Monroe: <- former AMA regional VP, 30 years contest director, 35 year pattern contenstant
    Sep 8, 2015 7:06 AM - NFOsec: a 5 year old screaming - gyro! gyro!
Sep 8, 2015 7:07 AM - NFOsec: cool. I did figure you to be in the field. :)
Sep 8, 2015 7:07 AM - Bill Monroe: took the wing off in the pits and it was in plain view
Sep 8, 2015 7:07 AM - NFOsec: ew. how brilliant is that?
Sep 8, 2015 7:07 AM - Bill Monroe: i threw it all and walked away when 3D got popular...
Sep 8, 2015 7:08 AM - NFOsec: but, wouldn't that be like Barry Bonds or Mark Macguire hitting home runs on steriods, or the upcoming world Drug Olympics?
Sep 8, 2015 7:08 AM - NFOsec: Hard to blame you bill, clearly it is a cheaper habit.
Sep 8, 2015 7:08 AM - Bill Monroe: the fields are now full of bubbas bringing out their RTFs and thinking they're something
Sep 8, 2015 7:09 AM - NFOsec: yeah, that peeves me a lot.
Sep 8, 2015 7:09 AM - Bill Monroe: cheaper?? I fly real planes
Sep 8, 2015 7:09 AM - NFOsec: even from RC perspective, they all think it's a plug and play and whizzing along. not that simple.
Sep 8, 2015 7:11 AM - Bill Monroe: I pulled out my old pattern plane and visited the field where I used to be on the board.. seriously, I dont think anyone knows what a glow plug is or what a tuned pipe does..
Sep 8, 2015 7:11 AM - NFOsec: I know that, but you said you gave up the competition stuff when 3D came along.
    Sep 8, 2015 7:11 AM - NFOsec: LOL!
Sep 8, 2015 7:11 AM - Bill Monroe: and a single stick transmitter?? you'd have thought they'd seen a Mr Fusion
    Sep 8, 2015 7:11 AM - Bill Monroe: 53 mhz? what's that?
    Sep 8, 2015 7:11 AM - NFOsec: LOL.
    Sep 8, 2015 7:12 AM - NFOsec: clueless.
Sep 8, 2015 7:12 AM - Bill Monroe: so now, it has a place on a wire in my hanger
Sep 8, 2015 7:13 AM - Bill Monroe: I did see one interesting thing in the park the other day.. glider made to be launched like an angry golfer throwing his club
Sep 8, 2015 7:14 AM - Bill Monroe: grab a wingtip and throw it like a putter
    Sep 8, 2015 7:15 AM - NFOsec: ha.
Sep 8, 2015 7:16 AM - NFOsec: I almost picked up a free set of ping red-eyes by a disgusted golfer who threw his clubs and swore more times than he successfully hit his balls one time a few years back. He said - you want this, you can have them. I said: "buddy, no way, you'll live to regret it tomorrow".
Sep 8, 2015 7:16 AM - Bill Monroe: "discus gliders"
    Sep 8, 2015 7:17 AM - Bill Monroe:
    Sep 8, 2015 7:17 AM - NFOsec: aren't they call frisbees still?
Sep 8, 2015 7:17 AM - NFOsec: wow, nice launch.
Sep 8, 2015 7:17 AM - Bill Monroe: we used to use surgical tube
Sep 8, 2015 7:18 AM - NFOsec: clearly he has a good plane on the way up because he almost seemed too straight.
Sep 8, 2015 7:25 AM - Bill Monroe: this hatchbox blue prints so nice it looks wet
Sep 8, 2015 7:28 AM - NFOsec: So, suddenly I get an alert from FedEx, "unable to deliver", returned to sender.
Sep 8, 2015 7:28 AM - NFOsec: no details, etc. I have a feeling Robo3D definately sent two by mistaske.
    Sep 8, 2015 7:28 AM - Bill Monroe: 2 what?
Sep 8, 2015 7:29 AM - danzca6: Reason "Too hung over after holiday, dropped off truck"
Sep 8, 2015 7:29 AM - NFOsec: ugh, no, wrong one,. strange. I need to call FedEx\
    Sep 8, 2015 7:30 AM - jbigler1986: Robo lead screw shipping update "Holiday 2015"
    Sep 8, 2015 7:31 AM - Bill Monroe: I got mine
    Sep 8, 2015 7:31 AM - jbigler1986: when
Sep 8, 2015 7:31 AM - danzca6: Fudge, I called it last night that if I order now it "might" get to me for Christmas
Sep 8, 2015 7:31 AM - Bill Monroe: last week
    Sep 8, 2015 7:32 AM - Bill Monroe: Friday
Sep 8, 2015 7:33 AM - jbigler1986: are you the only one? I have not heard if anyone else has gotten them

Sep 8, 2015 7:33 AM - Bill Monroe: confirmation email came the next day :)
Sep 8, 2015 7:33 AM - Bill Monroe: maybe today.. I'm so close I might have gotten mine sooner
Sep 8, 2015 7:33 AM - JeffTheMess: lol the holidays!? wow
    Sep 8, 2015 7:34 AM - jbigler1986: I was kidding on the update
Sep 8, 2015 7:35 AM - jbigler1986: that's shitty on their part Bill. People have had them ordered for a while
Sep 8, 2015 7:35 AM - Bill Monroe: well lets see.. order from China (special config).. ship to third party fullfillment center.. then matched up and shipped to customers.. naw, that's not time consuming at all
Sep 8, 2015 7:36 AM - Bill Monroe: what you might not know is how long ago I ordered them :)
Sep 8, 2015 7:36 AM - jbigler1986: they said the got them in almost a month ago
Sep 8, 2015 7:37 AM - jbigler1986: i don't believe anything that comes out of their mouth anymore
Sep 8, 2015 7:37 AM - danzca6: ok, so when did you order Bill?
Sep 8, 2015 7:38 AM - Bill Monroe: honestly I cant recall. let me see if I have an email artifact
    Sep 8, 2015 7:38 AM - Bill Monroe: August 1
Sep 8, 2015 7:39 AM - danzca6: that is actually not too bad of a turn around
Sep 8, 2015 7:40 AM - danzca6: considering the slow boat from China and all
Sep 8, 2015 7:40 AM - Bill Monroe: all things considered, its reasonable
Sep 8, 2015 7:40 AM - NFOsec: yeah, both packages are being returned, so logistics are messed up.
Sep 8, 2015 7:41 AM - jbigler1986: takes about 60 days once an order is placed to an overseas factory
Sep 8, 2015 7:41 AM - jbigler1986: to get the item in hand
    Sep 8, 2015 7:43 AM - Bill Monroe: maybe it's just that Robo3D loves me :)
Sep 8, 2015 7:43 AM - Bill Monroe: and, what's not to love?
Sep 8, 2015 7:43 AM - daniel871: Being just down the road probably helps.
    Sep 8, 2015 7:43 AM - daniel871: Getting a bit of a chuckle out of this. http://www.mandatory.com/2013/03/12/florida-man-the-comic
Sep 8, 2015 7:44 AM - Bill Monroe: I 'spose it would just be salt to reveal that I dont plan in installing them real soon?
    Sep 8, 2015 7:45 AM - jbigler1986: nope. you have some already
Sep 8, 2015 7:45 AM - daniel871: I like the one about the guy stealing cheese from Pizza Hut.
    Sep 8, 2015 7:45 AM - danzca6: funny Bill
Sep 8, 2015 7:47 AM - Bill Monroe: I'm just too busy finishing up the router...
Sep 8, 2015 7:47 AM - Mike Glass: I still have yet to recieve my replacement lead screw.
Sep 8, 2015 7:48 AM - Bill Monroe: maybe they're waiting for an addional moose to hook up to the delivery wagon?
    Sep 8, 2015 7:48 AM - Bill Monroe: ...that's just a guess
Sep 8, 2015 7:49 AM - Mike Glass: Poor parts service as i would expect.
Sep 8, 2015 7:49 AM - jbigler1986: sending them piece by piece with pigeons
    Sep 8, 2015 7:49 AM - daniel871: Same, MG.
Sep 8, 2015 7:49 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, those moose do need parts
Sep 8, 2015 7:50 AM - Bill Monroe: I dunno what to tell ya, I just odered them through the site.. paid... and waited
Sep 8, 2015 7:50 AM - Mike Glass: I would be furious if I didnt have an extra set.
    Sep 8, 2015 7:50 AM - Mike Kelly: howdy
Sep 8, 2015 7:51 AM - Mike Glass: Hey Mike
Sep 8, 2015 7:53 AM - daniel871: I'm kind of past the being furious point now, it's more like "Eh, whatever".
    Sep 8, 2015 7:53 AM - donhuevo: [IMG]
Sep 8, 2015 7:54 AM - donhuevo: if you're gonna steal some cheese... steal some cheese
    Sep 8, 2015 7:54 AM - Mike Glass: I guess
Sep 8, 2015 7:54 AM - danzca6: imagine the convo in jail. What you in for?
Sep 8, 2015 7:54 AM - Bill Monroe: hmm My family is from New Castle..
Sep 8, 2015 7:55 AM - donhuevo: we talked about that Bill... the worker mentioned that was paid to load the truck was Amish
Sep 8, 2015 7:55 AM - Bill Monroe: "Acessory to constipation"
    Sep 8, 2015 7:55 AM - danzca6: lol
Sep 8, 2015 7:56 AM - Bill Monroe: maybe it's the real Amish mafia
Sep 8, 2015 7:57 AM - donhuevo: I've seen 'gangs' of Amish loitering in front of convenient stores in New Wilmington
Sep 8, 2015 7:58 AM - Bill Monroe: its not like it used to be
Sep 8, 2015 7:58 AM - donhuevo: not even close
Sep 8, 2015 7:59 AM - Bill Monroe: that's what you get when you let Micah and Jeddidiah have AA batteries... everything goes godless I tell ya..
Sep 8, 2015 8:00 AM - donhuevo: I used to be an electrician. I wired a new house in Pulaski. The carpentry was done by an Amish crew. One day their driver approached me and offered me a good time with an underage Amish girl
Sep 8, 2015 8:00 AM - donhuevo: yes, I met an Amish pimp
Sep 8, 2015 8:00 AM - Bill Monroe: amish children can not sin
Sep 8, 2015 8:00 AM - daniel871: That made you quit being an electrician?
    Sep 8, 2015 8:00 AM - Bill Monroe: shocking
Sep 8, 2015 8:01 AM - donhuevo: no, arthritis made me quit
Sep 8, 2015 8:01 AM - daniel871: Something tells me this is a lot more common than just Florida. [IMG]
Sep 8, 2015 8:01 AM - Bill Monroe: ok, time for me to fly to work.. back later
    Sep 8, 2015 8:01 AM - daniel871: "fly to work"
Sep 8, 2015 8:02 AM - danzca6: why is bill's life cooler than anyone else
    Sep 8, 2015 8:02 AM - Mike Kelly: $
Sep 8, 2015 8:02 AM - Mike Glass: How else would you get to work
Sep 8, 2015 8:02 AM - daniel871: Anyone that says being rich can't buy happiness is full of shit.
Sep 8, 2015 8:02 AM - Mike Glass: Mike check this out. http://imgur.com/a/MMPQ0
Sep 8, 2015 8:03 AM - Mike Kelly: badass mg
Sep 8, 2015 8:04 AM - Mike Kelly: you should have deflected the air up
Sep 8, 2015 8:04 AM - Mike Kelly: unless something is going on top of that
Sep 8, 2015 8:05 AM - Mike Glass: yeah that is just the mount for the shoe
Sep 8, 2015 8:06 AM - Mike Kelly: for sure
Sep 8, 2015 8:06 AM - Mike Kelly: that looks real good, you modeled that all yourself?
Sep 8, 2015 8:06 AM - Mike Kelly: steel screws though... should gone stainless
Sep 8, 2015 8:07 AM - Mike Glass: those are stock
    Sep 8, 2015 8:08 AM - Mike Glass: and like 2 1/2 inches long
    Sep 8, 2015 8:08 AM - daniel871: Thanks for the reminder in my email, Glassdoor.com; http://www.glassdoor.com/blog/heres...campaign=September2015_US&utm_content=CEO_PAY
Sep 8, 2015 8:08 AM - Mike Glass: Me and solidworks had a workout, just took the profile and with using the mold tools.
    Sep 8, 2015 8:12 AM - daniel871: I think this is my leadscrew shipment from Robo, but I'm not 100% sure. https://www.fedex.com/apps/fedextrack/?tracknumbers=774447680004&language=en&cntry_code=us
    Sep 8, 2015 8:12 AM - daniel871: Never got an email.
    Sep 8, 2015 8:13 AM - jbigler1986: everyone go home. it's a half day
Sep 8, 2015 8:17 AM - donhuevo: at least it's a short week. thankful for that
Sep 8, 2015 8:19 AM - jbigler1986: half day for me on Thursday
Sep 8, 2015 8:27 AM - Mike Kelly: daniel i don't think any replacements got an email for some reason
    Sep 8, 2015 8:28 AM - WheresWaldo: Morning all
    Sep 8, 2015 8:29 AM - daniel871: Morning Waldo.
Sep 8, 2015 8:30 AM - daniel871: I'm thinking about taking your Firmware with the motherboard callout changed for the Rambo board and trying that on the Robo when I have everything wired up since I've gone full Frankenstein on this thing.
Sep 8, 2015 8:32 AM - WheresWaldo: Let me know how that works out. It looks like the Devs are getting ready for an RC, so I am going to make a pull request for the Configuration.h file only.
Sep 8, 2015 8:33 AM - WheresWaldo: Might as well have a Robo as part of the sample configurations. Besides I have had a lot of success using it as a daily driver.
Sep 8, 2015 8:34 AM - WheresWaldo: Now if I could only get Taulman Alloy 910 to stop warping!
    Sep 8, 2015 8:37 AM - Mike Kelly: apparently SW2016 is out
Sep 8, 2015 8:37 AM - WheresWaldo: Does it work with Windows 10?
    Sep 8, 2015 8:37 AM - jbigler1986: hmmm
Sep 8, 2015 8:42 AM - daniel871: Got both the Robo and Waldo firmwares set up in Arduino sketches for uploading once everything is wired up, now just waiting on me to finish wiring everything and for the lead screws to come in.
Sep 8, 2015 8:43 AM - WheresWaldo: Hay Dan, is anyhting on your Robo original?
    Sep 8, 2015 8:44 AM - Bigc: Good Morning
Sep 8, 2015 8:46 AM - WheresWaldo: My last comment should have said 'Hey' and 'anything', I hate not being able to edit.
Sep 8, 2015 8:46 AM - daniel871: The plastic frame and the smooth rods and belts.
Sep 8, 2015 8:46 AM - Mike Kelly: told my coworker it's super easy to accidentally pierce the fan while trying to disassemble the carriage
Sep 8, 2015 8:46 AM - Mike Kelly: guess what he did!
    Sep 8, 2015 8:47 AM - daniel871: I will have basically built a 3d printer by the time I'm done, I think.

Sep 8, 2015 8:48 AM - WheresWaldo: I like to tinker, but I haven't done wholesale replacement of parts. Its mostly small stuff. And firmware of course.
Sep 8, 2015 8:49 AM - daniel871: I wouldn't have done this much if stuff had managed to work without failing over time.
Sep 8, 2015 8:49 AM - daniel871: I've learned that the sheet of PEI on the glass bed makes pretty much everything stick though.
    Sep 8, 2015 8:50 AM - daniel871: At least as far as PLA/ABS/PETG and PET+ go.
Sep 8, 2015 8:50 AM - daniel871: Haven't tried Nylons yet due to the electronic board failure, and haven't finished a print due to ribbing, but bed adhesion itself seems to be basically solved.
    Sep 8, 2015 8:53 AM - Bigc: I saw this today
    Sep 8, 2015 8:55 AM - Mike Glass: neat
    Sep 8, 2015 8:57 AM - daniel871: Oh, neat, a video the explains a benefit to having a 5th axis on a 3d printer.
    Sep 8, 2015 8:57 AM - daniel871: 4th/5th
    Sep 8, 2015 9:27 AM - Mike Kelly: wouldn't that be 7 axis
Sep 8, 2015 9:28 AM - daniel871: I'd have to go back and count the joints on the mechanical arm.
Sep 8, 2015 9:28 AM - Mike Kelly: i think the arm has at least 4 by itself
Sep 8, 2015 9:28 AM - Mike Kelly: then the table has at least 2
Sep 8, 2015 9:29 AM - daniel871: Be a lot of fun to figure out how to configure the firmware for.
    Sep 8, 2015 9:29 AM - daniel871: Also how to slice it.
    Sep 8, 2015 9:29 AM - Mike Kelly: haha
Sep 8, 2015 9:29 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah seriously
Sep 8, 2015 9:30 AM - Mike Kelly: i would legit enjoy that if i had time and money to do so
Sep 8, 2015 9:30 AM - daniel871: Kind of looked like someone took an assembly line welding arm and repurposed it similar to that MIG 3d printer someone was trying to put together on Thingiverse.
Sep 8, 2015 9:31 AM - daniel871: Starting with an arm that complex and having the software to control it probably did most of the work already.
    Sep 8, 2015 9:31 AM - Mike Kelly: http://3dprint.com/94334/wasp-bigdelta-3d-printer/
    Sep 8, 2015 9:33 AM - Mike Kelly: that's... uhm... big
Sep 8, 2015 9:34 AM - jbigler1986: yeah. I scrolled down the page and the damn ads caught my eye
Sep 8, 2015 9:36 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i hate that website
Sep 8, 2015 9:38 AM - daniel871: "Hurry up and watch this video before it is banned!"
    Sep 8, 2015 9:38 AM - jbigler1986: uh oh http://3dprint.com/94486/griffin-3d-goes-dark/
    Sep 8, 2015 9:39 AM - Mike Kelly: lol
Sep 8, 2015 9:40 AM - jbigler1986: i will take my thousands and run. thanks everyone
Sep 8, 2015 9:40 AM - daniel871: Ugh, that ad with the pellets embedded in the skin. Thanks for the itching/cringing.
    Sep 8, 2015 9:40 AM - Mike Kelly: ublock
    Sep 8, 2015 9:41 AM - Mike Glass: peerblock
Sep 8, 2015 9:41 AM - daniel871: Yeah, some other company did that with kickstarter not too long ago, JB.
    Sep 8, 2015 9:41 AM - Mike Kelly: richrap released his 3DR Mega: https://www.youmagine.com/designs/3drmega-the-big-reprap-delta-printer
Sep 8, 2015 9:41 AM - jbigler1986: probably nothing anyone can about it either
Sep 8, 2015 9:42 AM - Mike Kelly: that's the risk of kickstarters
Sep 8, 2015 9:42 AM - Mike Kelly: let's just say when robo was slow to communicate people would flip their shit
Sep 8, 2015 9:45 AM - Mike Kelly: this is impressive
Sep 8, 2015 9:48 AM - jbigler1986: holy shit those equations on the whiteboard
    Sep 8, 2015 9:49 AM - Mike Kelly: heh
    Sep 8, 2015 9:50 AM - Mike Glass: impressive
Sep 8, 2015 9:51 AM - Mike Glass: that guy is probably in great shape after that project..lol
Sep 8, 2015 9:52 AM - Blake Benefield: First printer i backed was a failed kickstarter
    Sep 8, 2015 9:52 AM - Mike Kelly: makibox?
Sep 8, 2015 9:53 AM - Mike Glass: man that is a sweet delta
Sep 8, 2015 9:54 AM - Mike Glass: just imagine the bongs you could make and sell with that in colorado..lol
Sep 8, 2015 9:54 AM - Blake Benefield: No it was that ez3d pheonix printer
    Sep 8, 2015 9:54 AM - Mike Kelly: ah
Sep 8, 2015 9:55 AM - Mike Kelly: the house delta?
    Sep 8, 2015 9:55 AM - Mike Kelly: or the huge 3dr
    Sep 8, 2015 9:57 AM - Mike Kelly: hmm why can't i find the original 3dr files
    Sep 8, 2015 10:00 AM - Mike Glass: the huge 3dr
Sep 8, 2015 10:01 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah that would be fun
Sep 8, 2015 10:01 AM - Mike Glass: looks like its almost 6 ft
Sep 8, 2015 10:01 AM - donhuevo: Charlize Theron is almost 6 ft
Sep 8, 2015 10:03 AM - Mike Glass: all the way up
    Sep 8, 2015 10:16 AM - NFOsec: Mmm.. that phoenix kickstarter. I remember... http://3dprint.com/50561/bbb-ez3d-kickstarter/
Sep 8, 2015 10:18 AM - Mike Kelly: so the 22RE toyota engine has a design flaw, the screw for the piston rod clamp is too big and clips the block
Sep 8, 2015 10:18 AM - Mike Kelly: guess i need to get some flat heads
Sep 8, 2015 10:18 AM - NFOsec: dunno about that bike, I had a 10speed in the 70's that would balance itself and coast flat for a block or two.
    Sep 8, 2015 10:18 AM - Mike Kelly: that's what everyone says ;)
Sep 8, 2015 10:19 AM - NFOsec: and the sbu (self-balancing unicycle) actually has the technology to do that.
Sep 8, 2015 10:19 AM - NFOsec: in fact, you could use piezo gyros with a basic drone controller board and set the stabilization path and you're done.
    Sep 8, 2015 10:20 AM - NFOsec: hackanhour thought. :)
    Sep 8, 2015 10:20 AM - Mike Kelly: i think you're missing the point
Sep 8, 2015 10:20 AM - NFOsec: no, I get it, just always challenge the logical aspect. :)
    Sep 8, 2015 10:21 AM - Mike Kelly: logical?
Sep 8, 2015 10:21 AM - Mike Kelly: it was an impressive technical feat
Sep 8, 2015 10:21 AM - Mike Kelly: not sure what you mean
Sep 8, 2015 10:21 AM - NFOsec: from a scientific perspective, I don't know if it was actually a feat or a ruse.
    Sep 8, 2015 10:22 AM - Mike Kelly: ...
    Sep 8, 2015 10:22 AM - Mike Kelly: what
Sep 8, 2015 10:22 AM - NFOsec: history has a way of doing those types of things.
Sep 8, 2015 10:22 AM - Mike Kelly: it was absolutely a scientific feat
    Sep 8, 2015 10:22 AM - Mike Kelly: i don't understand what point you're trying to make
Sep 8, 2015 10:22 AM - Mike Kelly: doing something from scratch is always a technical challenge
Sep 8, 2015 10:25 AM - NFOsec: true, but the bike could have been a junkyard pile of parts that didn't serve any function to the untrained eye. My point really is none, just always challenge quackery by nature... sorry. :)
Sep 8, 2015 10:25 AM - NFOsec: so, for folks 3D printing something for molds, what would be the best filament type to use for being subjected to post heat temperatures of say 175c?
    Sep 8, 2015 10:26 AM - NFOsec: MK: sorry, I jumped into a conversation I skimmed over.
Sep 8, 2015 10:26 AM - Mike Kelly: it was for a competition, what more motivation do you need?
    Sep 8, 2015 10:26 AM - Mike Kelly: science doesn't always need a function
    Sep 8, 2015 10:27 AM - Mike Kelly: PC might handle 175C
Sep 8, 2015 10:28 AM - Mike Glass: wish he had an actual bom for the parts, I would like to price it out for that mega.
Sep 8, 2015 10:31 AM - Mike Kelly: well get on it!
Sep 8, 2015 10:48 AM - Mike Kelly: "Installed Z axis upgrade and the firmware made the y axis go in reverse!"
Sep 8, 2015 10:48 AM - Mike Kelly: *ignores the step where he had to plug in the Y axis after it came unplugged"
    Sep 8, 2015 10:49 AM - Mike Glass: lol
Sep 8, 2015 10:49 AM - Mike Kelly: people are so ready to blame the firmware for anything, if only they knew how little things actually change between them
Sep 8, 2015 10:52 AM - Mike Kelly: they did finally enable eeprom writing on the R1+ though
Sep 8, 2015 10:53 AM - Mike Kelly: huh they also changed some check for Z probe offset
    Sep 8, 2015 10:54 AM - Mike Kelly: [IMG]
Sep 8, 2015 10:55 AM - Mike Glass: Looks like a good thing
Sep 8, 2015 10:55 AM - Mike Glass: mine about cracked the bed the other day.
Sep 8, 2015 10:56 AM - Mike Glass: and my z offset does not work anyways
    Sep 8, 2015 10:56 AM - Mike Kelly: haha
Sep 8, 2015 10:56 AM - Mike Kelly: mine works fine *shrugs*
Sep 8, 2015 10:57 AM - Mike Glass: not sure why, I didnt flash the new code when I did the lead update, just changed the firmware.
    Sep 8, 2015 10:58 AM - Mike Kelly: ah
Sep 8, 2015 10:58 AM - Mike Kelly: that might be why
Sep 8, 2015 10:58 AM - Mike Glass: It works fine if I have tape on the bed though, that was my problem with stuff sticking to my bed I think. I changed it from .70 to .64 and nothing changed.
    Sep 8, 2015 10:59 AM - Mike Kelly: that's a tiny change though

Sep 8, 2015 10:59 AM - Mike Kelly: .1's about the smallest i adjust it
Sep 8, 2015 10:59 AM - Mike Glass: but if I do it from the lcd or software I only change it .02
Sep 8, 2015 11:00 AM - Mike Kelly: i don't think the repeatability of the R1's autolevel is that good though
Sep 8, 2015 11:00 AM - Mike Glass: wonder if it got hard set in the firmware somehow?
Sep 8, 2015 11:01 AM - Mike Kelly: hmm maybe
Sep 8, 2015 11:01 AM - Mike Kelly: i should do that on the R1.7
    Sep 8, 2015 11:01 AM - Mike Kelly: i hate gcode offset
Sep 8, 2015 11:01 AM - Mike Kelly: much better to just program it in
Sep 8, 2015 11:02 AM - Mike Kelly: then your gcode always works
Sep 8, 2015 11:02 AM - Mike Glass: except when you change nozzles
Sep 8, 2015 11:02 AM - Mike Kelly: well ok
Sep 8, 2015 11:02 AM - Mike Kelly: fair enough!
Sep 8, 2015 11:02 AM - Mike Kelly: but i seldom do that
    Sep 8, 2015 11:04 AM - Mike Glass: I was there for awhile, .4 and .2, then .8..
Sep 8, 2015 11:05 AM - Mike Kelly: i kinda wish i'd printed the MPCNC parts with a .6mm nozzle
Sep 8, 2015 11:05 AM - Mike Glass: Yea, do you thing it would mess things up though?
Sep 8, 2015 11:05 AM - Mike Kelly: i don't think so, not many fine details that would be impacted
Sep 8, 2015 11:06 AM - Mike Kelly: he usually radiuses corners well
Sep 8, 2015 11:06 AM - Mike Glass: what LH would you use?
    Sep 8, 2015 11:09 AM - Mike Kelly: LH?
    Sep 8, 2015 11:09 AM - Mike Kelly: ojh
    Sep 8, 2015 11:09 AM - Mike Kelly: .4mm probably
Sep 8, 2015 11:09 AM - Mike Kelly: i did most of them at .3
Sep 8, 2015 11:10 AM - Mike Glass: maybe thats why the are tight?
Sep 8, 2015 11:10 AM - Mike Kelly: could be
Sep 8, 2015 11:10 AM - Mike Kelly: but layer height "shouldn't" have a significant effect on exterior dimensions
Sep 8, 2015 11:10 AM - Mike Glass: although should it really change?
    Sep 8, 2015 11:12 AM - Mike Kelly: ?
Sep 8, 2015 11:15 AM - Mike Glass: the dimensions, same thing you said
    Sep 8, 2015 11:16 AM - Mike Kelly: right
    Sep 8, 2015 11:19 AM - Mike Kelly: fascinating
Sep 8, 2015 11:26 AM - Mike Kelly: https://books.google.com/books?id=azO3TgQh3rUC&dq=snap+together+hinge+design holy crap that price tag
Sep 8, 2015 11:38 AM - Mike Kelly: man the forums are dead today, is everyone still on vacation?

Sep 8, 2015 11:43 AM - JeffTheMess: In the morning the forum is better
    Sep 8, 2015 11:44 AM - Mike Glass: its still a mess
Sep 8, 2015 11:49 AM - JeffTheMess: well if you think the forum is a mess, thats your opinion lol
Sep 8, 2015 11:51 AM - Mike Kelly: well we all know jeff is
Sep 8, 2015 11:53 AM - donhuevo: lots of whining going on today
Sep 8, 2015 11:53 AM - Mike Glass: fur sure
    Sep 8, 2015 11:54 AM - JeffTheMess: who's getting touchy
    Sep 8, 2015 11:54 AM - Mike Kelly: whositawhatsnow
Sep 8, 2015 11:58 AM - donhuevo: should be Christmas when I get home today
Sep 8, 2015 11:58 AM - donhuevo: some screws from McMaster, RAM, maybe a touchscreen off the slow boat...
    Sep 8, 2015 12:00 PM - Mike Kelly: woot
    Sep 8, 2015 12:00 PM - donhuevo: yup
Sep 8, 2015 12:00 PM - danzca6: MK, heading to hardware store on way home tonight and wondered what size screws you used to put the XXL case together?
Sep 8, 2015 12:02 PM - Mike Kelly: i used m3-10mm but you might consider using wood screws, like 3/8"
Sep 8, 2015 12:02 PM - Mike Kelly: or sheet metal, basically anything self tapping
Sep 8, 2015 12:02 PM - Mike Kelly: that reminds me i need to run to ace
    Sep 8, 2015 12:02 PM - danzca6: lol, thanks. Didn't want to make a second trip
    Sep 8, 2015 12:02 PM - Mike Kelly: i hear that
Sep 8, 2015 12:03 PM - danzca6: had 50 houses in my area vandalized by kids Sunday night and they took a crowbar to all of our outside lights. So fun to come with replacing all those tonight
Sep 8, 2015 12:04 PM - danzca6: I think it was employees of HD or Lowes so I have to spend more money at their place
    Sep 8, 2015 12:05 PM - JeffTheMess: ^
    Sep 8, 2015 12:06 PM - Mike Kelly: That's messed up
    Sep 8, 2015 12:06 PM - danzca6: Cameras going up this weekend
Sep 8, 2015 12:07 PM - NFOsec: danzca: don't be surprised. a tire shop in a neighboring town was caught slashing close to 150 tires of cars all in the name of getting business. The ruse came to light when one of the idiots put a flyer in the windshield wiper.
Sep 8, 2015 12:10 PM - danzca6: now that is really messed up with a twist of dumb ass
Sep 8, 2015 12:10 PM - danzca6: What part of WI do you live in? I am a southern neighbor
Sep 8, 2015 12:10 PM - daniel871: Haha. Guess the character Stan Lee was dressing up as. [IMG]
Sep 8, 2015 12:11 PM - NFOsec: no kidding. It actually made those dumbest criminals column in the syndicate papers a few years ago.
    Sep 8, 2015 12:11 PM - NFOsec: 2 towns up bud.
Sep 8, 2015 12:12 PM - JeffTheMess: they refure to fix the street right by City field, I wonder why https://www.google.com/maps/place/C...3.842547!7i13312!8i6656!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0xf55b9
Sep 8, 2015 12:12 PM - daniel871: Also this was apparently spotted at DragonCon over the weekend. [IMG]
Sep 8, 2015 12:13 PM - NFOsec: wow, chopshop haven.
    Sep 8, 2015 12:13 PM - danzca6: lol...looks like a nice place to raise some kids
Sep 8, 2015 12:13 PM - NFOsec: all while wearing a fit watch?
Sep 8, 2015 12:14 PM - daniel871: Mashup of the "pedophile bear" and Subway's Jared.
Sep 8, 2015 12:14 PM - JeffTheMess: lol thats just one street there are full blocks there
Sep 8, 2015 12:14 PM - danzca6: I got the jared reference, but was trying to figure out the bear
    Sep 8, 2015 12:15 PM - danzca6: sometimes you don't want to know what's behind the curtain
Sep 8, 2015 12:15 PM - NFOsec: NY I assume? Family was from Fish Kill, I recognize the aroma.
    Sep 8, 2015 12:16 PM - NFOsec: isn't that a fox?
Sep 8, 2015 12:18 PM - NFOsec: Printing a door mounted v-groove pulley in glod (new Hatchbox color). looks pretty nice. https://www.dropbox.com/s/vqro4c6lw83kmy8/20150908_141331.mp4?dl=0
Sep 8, 2015 12:20 PM - danzca6: you know products with misprints are worth more. you should be saving that spool. :)
Sep 8, 2015 12:20 PM - danzca6: could be worth its weight in glod some day
    Sep 8, 2015 12:20 PM - NFOsec: I have 3 extra 2kg spools of that color.
Sep 8, 2015 12:20 PM - daniel871: The guy in this looks so disappointed. http://i.imgur.com/FLet7le.gif
    Sep 8, 2015 12:21 PM - NFOsec: I'm saving the label.
Sep 8, 2015 12:21 PM - NFOsec: was he walking the bike? doesn't seem like he was on it unless it was a portable 2-piecer.
    Sep 8, 2015 12:21 PM - NFOsec: funny though.
    Sep 8, 2015 12:21 PM - daniel871: Save the whole spool.
Sep 8, 2015 12:22 PM - danzca6: looked like he lifted his left leg to get off
Sep 8, 2015 12:22 PM - daniel871: Looks like it was one of those two-piece deals that just broke apart.
Sep 8, 2015 12:22 PM - danzca6: couldn't have happened again like that if they tried
    Sep 8, 2015 12:23 PM - NFOsec: amazing.
Sep 8, 2015 12:23 PM - NFOsec: I'll probably save 1 box and leave it shrink-wrapped with label and all.
Sep 8, 2015 12:24 PM - danzca6: you going to 3d print an oscar statue?
Sep 8, 2015 12:24 PM - Mike Glass: who is oscar, and why does he need a statue?
    Sep 8, 2015 12:25 PM - danzca6: lol
Sep 8, 2015 12:25 PM - NFOsec: This is why I referred to glod in case you didn't know. https://www.dropbox.com/s/der1lnyokmyg64a/20150907_105928.jpg?dl=0
    Sep 8, 2015 12:26 PM - NFOsec: isn't that an onstar statue?
Sep 8, 2015 12:27 PM - danzca6: I saw the convo the other day about it
    Sep 8, 2015 12:27 PM - danzca6: pretty funny
Sep 8, 2015 12:27 PM - danzca6: they at least spell black, white, and orange correctly
    Sep 8, 2015 12:27 PM - danzca6: from what I have at home
Sep 8, 2015 12:28 PM - daniel871: Love the title that comes up when you open this one. http://i.imgur.com/o1lku9q.gifv
    Sep 8, 2015 12:28 PM - danzca6: I'd pay money to take that ride :)

Sep 8, 2015 12:29 PM - NFOsec: WOW. those life boats for the mega ships sure can screw up when they drop...
Sep 8, 2015 12:29 PM - NFOsec: man, I wonder if they all strapped in?
    Sep 8, 2015 12:29 PM - daniel871: I certainly hope so.
Sep 8, 2015 12:29 PM - daniel871: The mess if they didn't would be terrible.
    Sep 8, 2015 12:29 PM - daniel871: Kind of like the out-of-view bit of this: http://i.imgur.com/Gkb8nKA.gif
Sep 8, 2015 12:30 PM - NFOsec: lol, 53 people were able to successfully evacuate the sinking vessel, 53 people all died from blunt trauma while the life boat dropped in the water.
    Sep 8, 2015 12:31 PM - danzca6: that's disturbing
Sep 8, 2015 12:31 PM - NFOsec: In wisconsin, one of my old colleagues was at a the event where a young woman/teen died when a bungie seat ride dropped and snapped.
Sep 8, 2015 12:31 PM - NFOsec: well, the ride did say it was an individual one.
Sep 8, 2015 12:31 PM - danzca6: I see more and more of those videos
Sep 8, 2015 12:32 PM - NFOsec: have you or anyone else printed in polycarbonites?
    Sep 8, 2015 12:33 PM - daniel871: I haven't, yet.
Sep 8, 2015 12:34 PM - daniel871: I think one of the Mikes may have though.
    Sep 8, 2015 12:34 PM - donhuevo: not with a robo I don't think
Sep 8, 2015 12:34 PM - donhuevo: they need a ridiculous ambient temp don't they?
    Sep 8, 2015 12:35 PM - NFOsec: looks like an option... http://www.thingiverse.com/search?q=oscar&sa=
Sep 8, 2015 12:35 PM - Mike Kelly: i would not suggest delving into the world of polycarbonate unless you have a lot of free time and money to build a heated enclosure and watercooled components
Sep 8, 2015 12:36 PM - Mike Kelly: and be willing to part with a lot of warped prints
    Sep 8, 2015 12:36 PM - jbigler1986: back
Sep 8, 2015 12:38 PM - NFOsec: well, it might be smoething I could do on the zenbot I have since the hot end goes up to 300-320 without a problem of cooling with my Micron3DP all metal.
Sep 8, 2015 12:39 PM - donhuevo: the hotend temp isn't the problem. E3D's will get hot enough to melt polycarbonate
Sep 8, 2015 12:39 PM - NFOsec: the highest temps I've done for 6-8 hours straight on that were about 275-280, but I do konw what you mean, a portable space heater isn't what I need. :)
    Sep 8, 2015 12:39 PM - NFOsec: but a focused one.
    Sep 8, 2015 12:39 PM - daniel871: I want one of these. http://i.imgur.com/qBVgYR6.gif
    Sep 8, 2015 12:40 PM - NFOsec: a log juicer?
Sep 8, 2015 12:40 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah but 300-320 is in ambient(ish) conditions
    Sep 8, 2015 12:40 PM - NFOsec: yeah.
Sep 8, 2015 12:40 PM - danzca6: I've got an apple slicer like that...pretty slick to do it with logs like that
Sep 8, 2015 12:41 PM - Mike Kelly: the numbers i've heard thrown around ar you want to print at like 320-350C, which means you should upgrade to a PT100 or a thermistor, a bed of 200C, meaning you'll need to upgrade to 24v on the bed, then a heated enclosure of around 120C
    Sep 8, 2015 12:41 PM - NFOsec: MK: yeah.
Sep 8, 2015 12:41 PM - Mike Kelly: meaning you need to water cool your hot end and stepper motors
Sep 8, 2015 12:41 PM - Mike Kelly: certainly possible, but a ton of work
Sep 8, 2015 12:41 PM - NFOsec: true enough, if I HAD delved into that I'd probably just invest in a 100w+ laser instead of the 50w I have today.
Sep 8, 2015 12:44 PM - Mike Kelly: that log splitter owms
Sep 8, 2015 12:44 PM - NFOsec: it sure does.
    Sep 8, 2015 12:45 PM - Mike Kelly: i have some ABS/PC i've been wanting to test
Sep 8, 2015 12:45 PM - NFOsec: I consulted for a few years in the lumber/paper mill industry, and even their cradle mills for the sawyers are unbelievable -- this is cool, but I'd like a size that fits in the drawer.
Sep 8, 2015 12:46 PM - Mike Kelly: can't think of what to make though
Sep 8, 2015 12:49 PM - NFOsec: How about a lens cap for a car?
Sep 8, 2015 12:49 PM - NFOsec: naw, that would be more t-glase right?
Sep 8, 2015 12:50 PM - Printed Solid: The ABS/PC is pretty opaque.
    Sep 8, 2015 12:52 PM - daniel871: Blu-Print
Sep 8, 2015 12:52 PM - Printed Solid: have you used blu-print much daniel?
Sep 8, 2015 12:53 PM - Printed Solid: I've got a whole bunch of it, but I really need to test it before I list it.
Sep 8, 2015 12:56 PM - danzca6: well, time to head home. Thanks again MK for the screw sizes. Hopefully I will be able to put things together once I get the lights replaced.
    Sep 8, 2015 12:56 PM - Mike Kelly: the PC/ABS i have is black
Sep 8, 2015 12:59 PM - daniel871: I've got a couple parts sliced that I want to test print with, but that will wait until I get my Franken-Robo working again.
    Sep 8, 2015 1:00 PM - NFOsec: so, a goth car?
Sep 8, 2015 1:03 PM - daniel871: That dual-twist Vase because why not and then that Tower of Pi because it'll be my miscellaneous pencil/scale/whatever holder on my work table in the shop.
Sep 8, 2015 1:05 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm considering designing a new enclosure for my space heater and using that to heat my chamber
Sep 8, 2015 1:05 PM - Mike Kelly: i've already got the controller
Sep 8, 2015 1:06 PM - daniel871: Some people have too much spare time. http://i.imgur.com/WXJZIXe.gif
Sep 8, 2015 1:07 PM - NFOsec: wouldn't an IR heater be ideal?
Sep 8, 2015 1:07 PM - Mike Kelly: it would yes
    Sep 8, 2015 1:07 PM - Mike Kelly: that's why i haven't done it
Sep 8, 2015 1:07 PM - NFOsec: that's almost like a scene from the Office.
Sep 8, 2015 1:07 PM - Mike Kelly: brb, buying bowling pins
Sep 8, 2015 1:08 PM - NFOsec: WHAT! You're NOT going to print them?
Sep 8, 2015 1:08 PM - Mike Glass: um thats how they test them.
    Sep 8, 2015 1:08 PM - NFOsec: ha.
Sep 8, 2015 1:09 PM - Mike Kelly: that should be in the forklift driver licensing, hit a strike
Sep 8, 2015 1:12 PM - NFOsec: yeah. good one.
    Sep 8, 2015 1:19 PM - Mike Kelly: daniel? https://plus.google.com/u/0/100133847886166006349/posts/3KdX6e8SreQ?cfem=1

    Sep 8, 2015 1:23 PM - daniel871: Nope, not me.
    Sep 8, 2015 1:23 PM - jbigler1986: http://www.3ders.org//articles/2015...rinted-air-conditioner-design-at-ifa2015.html awesome
Sep 8, 2015 1:24 PM - Mike Kelly: it was a joke but yeah
Sep 8, 2015 1:24 PM - jbigler1986: that guy is kind of annoying
    Sep 8, 2015 1:24 PM - Mike Kelly: lol

Sep 8, 2015 1:25 PM - NFOsec: so what do you think of that pei MK?
Sep 8, 2015 1:25 PM - jbigler1986: yes. he wasn't using aquanet. there is his problem. lol
Sep 8, 2015 1:26 PM - Mike Kelly: no idea
Sep 8, 2015 1:34 PM - Mike Glass: damn tape is more then the sheet of pei..lol
    Sep 8, 2015 1:34 PM - Mike Glass: although you get 6 12x12 sheets
Sep 8, 2015 1:36 PM - jbigler1986: where are you looking at it
Sep 8, 2015 1:37 PM - Mike Glass: amazing zon
    Sep 8, 2015 1:40 PM - jbigler1986: pricey
    Sep 8, 2015 1:44 PM - Mike Glass: $17 isnt so pricey
    Sep 8, 2015 1:45 PM - jbigler1986: cheapest i saw was like $37 on amazon

    Sep 8, 2015 2:43 PM - Mike Kelly: thanks, i'm happy
Sep 8, 2015 2:43 PM - Mike Kelly: that is a shitload of spools
Sep 8, 2015 2:44 PM - Mike Kelly: that youtube image stabalization is annoying
Sep 8, 2015 2:48 PM - Mike Kelly: https://www.3dhubs.com/new-york/hubs/jason-0 ok we know where he lives
    Sep 8, 2015 2:49 PM - Mike Glass: http://www.thingiverse.com/jjpowelly/about
Sep 8, 2015 2:56 PM - Blake Benefield: MK... Package arrive safely?
Sep 8, 2015 2:58 PM - Mike Kelly: tell you in about an hour
    Sep 8, 2015 3:01 PM - Mike Glass: He's napping now Blake.
Sep 8, 2015 3:02 PM - Mike Kelly: so blake what sort of draft angles do i need for casting
Sep 8, 2015 3:04 PM - Blake Benefield: Very small is fine. Just try to make them uniform so that the whole piece comes out of thr mold easier
Sep 8, 2015 3:04 PM - Blake Benefield: Im not sure its entirely necessary really
Sep 8, 2015 3:04 PM - Mike Kelly: is the mold reusable? i thought it was generally an excavation of the part
Sep 8, 2015 3:05 PM - Mike Glass: lost is the word
Sep 8, 2015 3:05 PM - Mike Kelly: right, lost pla casting
Sep 8, 2015 3:05 PM - Mike Kelly: generally in play sand i thought
Sep 8, 2015 3:05 PM - Blake Benefield: If it has a completely flat side we will mske a reusable mold or use 1 part to make multiple castings
Sep 8, 2015 3:13 PM - Mike Kelly: well it's all designed to be printed without support so they should all have a flat face
Sep 8, 2015 3:14 PM - Blake Benefield: Ive asked him about it again. We were tslking sbout it at like 11pm
Sep 8, 2015 3:15 PM - Bill Monroe: good afternoon
Sep 8, 2015 3:17 PM - Mike Kelly: http://imgur.com/a/a9iym?gallery cosplay is really impressive
Sep 8, 2015 3:21 PM - Blake Benefield: Ok MK. Basicslly if we csn do a pressed in mold we need a draft. If not. If there are holes in more thsn 1 direction (there are) then its best to do a lost casting
Sep 8, 2015 3:26 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah i think only like one or 2 parts can be press molded
Sep 8, 2015 3:26 PM - Mike Kelly: the rest would need to be lost cast
Sep 8, 2015 3:26 PM - Printed Solid: what are you working on blake?
Sep 8, 2015 3:27 PM - Printed Solid: or is mike working on doing a casting?
Sep 8, 2015 3:28 PM - Mike Kelly: he's wanting to cast my carriage
Sep 8, 2015 3:28 PM - Printed Solid: ok. scale it up be ~2%.
Sep 8, 2015 3:29 PM - Printed Solid: do you do a lot of casting blake?
Sep 8, 2015 3:30 PM - Printed Solid: I've been fairly happy with my plastic metal lately :)
    Sep 8, 2015 3:30 PM - Printed Solid: [IMG]
Sep 8, 2015 3:31 PM - Bigc: Is that the bronze
    Sep 8, 2015 3:32 PM - Printed Solid: si
Sep 8, 2015 3:33 PM - Blake Benefield: Mostly iron or bronze PS... No experience wil aluminum really
Sep 8, 2015 3:33 PM - Bigc: By any chance do you know how the shine the brassfill
Sep 8, 2015 3:33 PM - Printed Solid: This was tumbled with bits of support, then washed, and sprayed with clear coat to seal. I imagine I could have hit it with steel wool a bit more for some shine, but I liked this sort of an aged look for this part.
Sep 8, 2015 3:34 PM - Printed Solid: tumbler works well. Otherwise, manually with progressively finer grits of sand paper, then hit it with steel wool at the end.
Sep 8, 2015 3:34 PM - Printed Solid: With aluminum, you just need to make sure to account for the low density and put a lot of head on it.
Sep 8, 2015 3:35 PM - Printed Solid: I think Iron is significantly more difficult.
    Sep 8, 2015 3:35 PM - Bill Monroe: wtf??
Sep 8, 2015 3:35 PM - Bill Monroe: "account for low density"?
Sep 8, 2015 3:35 PM - Printed Solid: yes. aluminum is a lower density material.
Sep 8, 2015 3:35 PM - Bill Monroe: lower yes, but what's to account for? jusr pour it
    Sep 8, 2015 3:36 PM - Printed Solid: ok.
Sep 8, 2015 3:36 PM - Bill Monroe: if it's the right temp, it'll flow like water, dont need much head unless there some seriously think cross sections
Sep 8, 2015 3:36 PM - Bill Monroe: and that's for the shrink, not pressure
Sep 8, 2015 3:36 PM - Printed Solid: I'm sure I'm completely wrong and just imagining things.
Sep 8, 2015 3:37 PM - Printed Solid: but, hey, I appreciate the polite dialogue.
Sep 8, 2015 3:39 PM - Blake Benefield: Im not used to casting it. He said the resin molded sand should compensate but that we may have to increase by percentage or 2. Pretty much you can expect some sort of finishing work ti be needed either way
Sep 8, 2015 3:39 PM - Blake Benefield: Guy in charge of my group foes aluminum every week or so
Sep 8, 2015 3:40 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm worried cause there's some features that once you bake out the PLA will be floating
    Sep 8, 2015 3:40 PM - Bill Monroe:
Sep 8, 2015 3:40 PM - Mike Kelly: might need to just make them indents then drill it out after the fact
Sep 8, 2015 3:40 PM - Bill Monroe: Sorry.. I see so much crap on the net about casting it's disgusting..
Sep 8, 2015 3:41 PM - Bill Monroe: family had a foundry from 1945 to 1996.. I gree up in the biz
Sep 8, 2015 3:43 PM - Blake Benefield: We have mid sized cupolas. Can do 270lbs of iron to do 90lb pours
Sep 8, 2015 3:45 PM - Bill Monroe: you run a cupola furnace, or do you mean crucible?
    Sep 8, 2015 4:09 PM - Mike Glass: 270 crucible..lol
Sep 8, 2015 4:10 PM - Mike Glass: Seen pictures, its huge.
    Sep 8, 2015 4:11 PM - Bill Monroe: ya, that's a commitment
Sep 8, 2015 4:12 PM - Bill Monroe: cupola furnaces are popular wit iron.. that's a hunk of stuff to live with
    Sep 8, 2015 4:13 PM - Bill Monroe: we were stricly non-ferrous
Sep 8, 2015 4:14 PM - Bill Monroe: just wasnt enough call for ferrous work in San Diego, and the local pollution gendarmes were ruthless about it
Sep 8, 2015 4:29 PM - Bigc: Quick question can the e3d v6 handle nylon
Sep 8, 2015 4:46 PM - Mike Kelly: of course
Sep 8, 2015 5:24 PM - Bigc: Do i have to remove the ptfe tube
    Sep 8, 2015 5:35 PM - Mike Kelly: Not unless you have a lite6
Sep 8, 2015 6:41 PM - nonmindo: Anyone know if its possible if you print out the lulzbot mini head wipe tray and buy their felt cleaning strips if we can attach the strip to the robo and put in the code for it to do the pre-print wipe?
Sep 8, 2015 7:11 PM - jbigler1986: The robo has no free space. The nozzle is always over the bed
    Sep 8, 2015 7:13 PM - bamhm182: Hey guys
Sep 8, 2015 7:15 PM - bamhm182: You could probably get creative with some servos, or you could just place it on the bed and decrease the bed size. Neither sound worth it to me
    Sep 8, 2015 7:21 PM - jbigler1986: Agreed
Sep 8, 2015 7:22 PM - jbigler1986: You could tape it to one of the corners but you will have to adjust the bed size in your slicer
Sep 8, 2015 7:22 PM - jbigler1986: What is the reason for it?
    Sep 8, 2015 7:31 PM - Blake Benefield: [IMG]
Sep 8, 2015 7:32 PM - daniel871: No end of program retraction would be my guess JB.
    Sep 8, 2015 7:32 PM - bamhm182: I bought some magnets on eBay around 25AUG and they're still not here... They're shipping from a 3 hour drive away. :/
Sep 8, 2015 7:33 PM - bamhm182: Looks fun, Blake. Also, nice album. I have none of those skills, haha
    Sep 8, 2015 7:33 PM - daniel871: Never shipped.
Sep 8, 2015 7:33 PM - bamhm182: It says it was picked up
    Sep 8, 2015 7:34 PM - daniel871: Dingos ate them.
Sep 8, 2015 7:34 PM - Blake Benefield: Like your baby... But different
    Sep 8, 2015 7:34 PM - bamhm182: Probably
    Sep 8, 2015 7:34 PM - bamhm182: https://tools.usps.com/go/TrackConfirmAction?qtc_tLabels1=9400109699938730596579
Sep 8, 2015 7:34 PM - Blake Benefield: You can see 2 of the cupolas there
Sep 8, 2015 7:35 PM - Blake Benefield: There is a 3rd off to the other side
    Sep 8, 2015 7:35 PM - daniel871: Odd. Claims delivery August 29th.
Sep 8, 2015 7:35 PM - bamhm182: Well, claims an estimated delivery date of 29AUG
    Sep 8, 2015 7:35 PM - daniel871: USPS tracking sucks.
    Sep 8, 2015 7:36 PM - bamhm182: Doesn't say it has been delivered
Sep 8, 2015 7:36 PM - daniel871: Print the page, go to the local post office and ask where it is.
Sep 8, 2015 7:37 PM - daniel871: They get better information in their system as to what hub it is at.
Sep 8, 2015 7:38 PM - daniel871: Like that one shipment I had that detoured to NJ before coming to GA for a shipment out of NC for some reason.
Sep 8, 2015 7:38 PM - bamhm182: Yeah, I should do that tomorrow. I have to be awake and sober during the day anyways
Sep 8, 2015 7:38 PM - Mike Kelly: man it takes forever to do wiring
Sep 8, 2015 7:38 PM - Mike Kelly: almost there
Sep 8, 2015 7:38 PM - Mike Kelly: though now i think i should replace my Z axis
    Sep 8, 2015 7:38 PM - Mike Kelly: not sure it's needed
    Sep 8, 2015 7:38 PM - bamhm182: Haha, hooray USPS!
Sep 8, 2015 7:39 PM - bamhm182: Yeah it does, but when it's done right, it's very worth it
    Sep 8, 2015 7:39 PM - daniel871: Yeah I'm not looking forward to redoing the Robo's wiring.

Sep 8, 2015 7:39 PM - daniel871: Is there an amazon listing for those wire holders you used bam?
Sep 8, 2015 7:40 PM - Mike Kelly: my new wiring is much better
Sep 8, 2015 7:40 PM - daniel871: The command hook looking things you have everywhere
Sep 8, 2015 7:40 PM - daniel871: Or is that exactly what they are?
Sep 8, 2015 7:40 PM - Mike Kelly: on the plus side the mini height sensor switch works
Sep 8, 2015 7:40 PM - Mike Glass: What are you wiring MK
Sep 8, 2015 7:41 PM - bamhm182: Hey, MK, you were saying that sometimes you have issues where you tell your printer to go to a certain temperature, but it hangs out just under it, right?
    Sep 8, 2015 7:41 PM - Mike Kelly: everything
Sep 8, 2015 7:41 PM - Mike Kelly: sometimes when i tell it to start a print it just stays preheating
Sep 8, 2015 7:41 PM - bamhm182: I've been having issues where if I tell it to go to 205, it hangs out at 195, and if I tell it to go to 230, it goes to 220
Sep 8, 2015 7:42 PM - Mike Kelly: hmm nope
Sep 8, 2015 7:42 PM - daniel871: That was happening to me a few days before my Ramps stopped working altogether.
    Sep 8, 2015 7:43 PM - Mike Kelly: [IMG]
Sep 8, 2015 7:43 PM - bamhm182: It has no problem doing the temperature, but it hates getting there
Sep 8, 2015 7:43 PM - Mike Kelly: not the most recent picture but it's more or less that
    Sep 8, 2015 7:43 PM - Mike Kelly: plus a fan
    Sep 8, 2015 7:43 PM - bamhm182: Alright, so I've got a different issue then
Sep 8, 2015 7:44 PM - Mike Kelly: then i replaced the connector for my led's
    Sep 8, 2015 7:44 PM - bamhm182: I hope that's not the case, dan.
Sep 8, 2015 7:44 PM - Mike Kelly: and added the mini switch
Sep 8, 2015 7:44 PM - bamhm182: Man, you've got quite a bit going on down there, MK
    Sep 8, 2015 7:44 PM - Mike Kelly: http://www.filastruder.com/products/mini-differential-ir-height-sensor
Sep 8, 2015 7:44 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah that PSU is way freaking overkill
Sep 8, 2015 7:45 PM - Mike Kelly: same with the step down converter
Sep 8, 2015 7:45 PM - Mike Kelly: that thing can run 20A on it's own
    Sep 8, 2015 7:45 PM - bamhm182: Haha
Sep 8, 2015 7:45 PM - Mike Kelly: though now i'm having some issues with my arduino not getting enough 5v from the ramps, i need to have usb plugged in otherwise the screen is dim
Sep 8, 2015 7:45 PM - Blake Benefield: Mk. Your hatch arrive safely?
Sep 8, 2015 7:45 PM - Mike Kelly: yes it did blake, tyvm
Sep 8, 2015 7:45 PM - Mike Kelly: yours is on the way
Sep 8, 2015 7:46 PM - Mike Kelly: should get it friday
Sep 8, 2015 7:46 PM - Blake Benefield: Nice. What am i gettin?
    Sep 8, 2015 7:46 PM - bamhm182: As long as USPS doesn't eat it. :p
    Sep 8, 2015 7:46 PM - NFOsec: greetings.
Sep 8, 2015 7:46 PM - Mike Kelly: orange trans
    Sep 8, 2015 7:46 PM - bamhm182: Hey NFO
Sep 8, 2015 7:46 PM - Mike Kelly: hey daniel what day did your shipment from san diego say it was going to arrive
    Sep 8, 2015 7:46 PM - Blake Benefield: Cool.
    Sep 8, 2015 7:46 PM - Blake Benefield: Ty
    Sep 8, 2015 7:46 PM - daniel871: 9/11
Sep 8, 2015 7:46 PM - Mike Kelly: bah dam
Sep 8, 2015 7:47 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah i really like the orange translucent PLA
Sep 8, 2015 7:47 PM - daniel871: Probably going to be recalled due to terrorists or something.
    Sep 8, 2015 7:47 PM - Mike Kelly: it's fun
    Sep 8, 2015 7:47 PM - Mike Kelly: haha
Sep 8, 2015 7:47 PM - Blake Benefield: That abs looked good
Sep 8, 2015 7:47 PM - Mike Kelly: ugh i really don't want to wait till friday to finish assembling my printer
    Sep 8, 2015 7:47 PM - daniel871: Me either.
Sep 8, 2015 7:48 PM - NFOsec: so seems like filamentia and lack of power are the hot tpoics.
    Sep 8, 2015 7:48 PM - NFOsec: er topics.
Sep 8, 2015 7:49 PM - daniel871: On the bright side, I'm playing MGSV TPP in the meantime and its pretty fun.
Sep 8, 2015 7:51 PM - bamhm182: I haven't played any of the rest of them, so I decided to opt in for Mad Max instead, also pretty fun
Sep 8, 2015 7:51 PM - daniel871: The idea of recruiting soldiers to my private army by knocking them out and extracting them with a Fulton Recovery system is hilarious to me.
Sep 8, 2015 7:52 PM - Mike Glass: I see how it mounts now [IMG]
Sep 8, 2015 7:52 PM - daniel871: Its basically the ultimate prequel game, no need to have played the other games to know what is happening since storyline-wise it happens before Metal Gear.
Sep 8, 2015 7:53 PM - bamhm182: Awesome, might have to check it out then
Sep 8, 2015 7:54 PM - bamhm182: I just like ripping through Australia yanking tires off of cars with harpoons. Haha
    Sep 8, 2015 7:56 PM - Mike Kelly: https://www.dropbox.com/s/5xmx85wv7nqa8ts/Video Sep 08, 8 18 24 PM.mov?dl=0
Sep 8, 2015 7:57 PM - daniel871: I like to complete a mission by kidnapping every single soldier on a base, then destroying all of the radio/radar systems and stealing all of the gun/mortar emplacements. Makes it hilarious when the shifts at an outpost changes and the new soldiers show up and freak out about the ghost town they walked into.
Sep 8, 2015 7:58 PM - bamhm182: Wait, so it uses a laser to determine when it needs to stop?
Sep 8, 2015 7:58 PM - daniel871: Then freak out even harder when they realize their radios don't reach the main base and run away screaming.
    Sep 8, 2015 7:59 PM - bamhm182: Haha, that's awesome
Sep 8, 2015 8:00 PM - Mike Kelly: it uses an IR sensor and looks for a difference between two LEDs
Sep 8, 2015 8:00 PM - Mike Glass: how many probes you doing?
Sep 8, 2015 8:01 PM - Mike Glass: guy with the delta does 13
    Sep 8, 2015 8:02 PM - Mike Kelly: i usually stick with 9
    Sep 8, 2015 8:03 PM - Mike Glass: do 18..lol
Sep 8, 2015 8:03 PM - NFOsec: typical aliens, probing more than they ned to.
Sep 8, 2015 8:04 PM - bamhm182: I made a budget at the beginning of the month. So far it's not helping me spend less money as much as its showing me how much I'm spending
Sep 8, 2015 8:04 PM - NFOsec: the best budget is when it's not your money.
    Sep 8, 2015 8:04 PM - bamhm182: Over my entertainment budget until the 25th
Sep 8, 2015 8:04 PM - bamhm182: Might pick it up at the end of the month though
    Sep 8, 2015 8:07 PM - Mike Kelly: MG 4x4 would be 16
Sep 8, 2015 8:08 PM - Mike Kelly: unless i custom define the positions
Sep 8, 2015 8:18 PM - Mike Glass: Probably overkill
Sep 8, 2015 8:18 PM - bamhm182: So anyone wondering how Novice Expert's idea for replacing the standard couplers with ones that actually bite into the lead screw/motor works, it works AWESOME
    Sep 8, 2015 8:19 PM - bamhm182:
Sep 8, 2015 8:19 PM - Mike Glass: couplers..lol thats so last year.
Sep 8, 2015 8:19 PM - bamhm182: That's the video I'm referring to. I'll post my before and after when this part finishes
Sep 8, 2015 8:19 PM - bamhm182: Not if you have bent lead screws and haven't gotten around to getting them replaced it isn't. Haha
    Sep 8, 2015 8:20 PM - bamhm182: Plus it's a $10 fix as opposed to a $100 fix
Sep 8, 2015 8:20 PM - Mike Glass: Ive tried printed couplers, they failed, I took the metal couplers and then wrapped my threads with aluminum foil and superglue them into the HC.
Sep 8, 2015 8:21 PM - Mike Glass: also put BB's in the couplers.
Sep 8, 2015 8:21 PM - Mike Kelly: new couplers on my mk R1 basically fixed all my ribbing issues
Sep 8, 2015 8:21 PM - bamhm182: At the beginning of his video, he's talking about the plastic ones he made, but he replaced them with metal ones
Sep 8, 2015 8:21 PM - Mike Glass: but you have acme screws
    Sep 8, 2015 8:22 PM - bamhm182: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KHTVOEU?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00
Sep 8, 2015 8:23 PM - Mike Glass: I wouldnt was my money on those
Sep 8, 2015 8:23 PM - Mike Glass: The issue is getting them perfectly centered in the HC's.
    Sep 8, 2015 8:26 PM - Mike Kelly: http://www.productchart.com/3d_printers/ this is neat
Sep 8, 2015 8:26 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah my lead screws have machines 8mm sections
Sep 8, 2015 8:26 PM - Mike Kelly: so it was a tight fit between the components
Sep 8, 2015 8:28 PM - Blake Benefield: MG. The set screws are better than the circumferential
    Sep 8, 2015 8:28 PM - Mike Glass: robo is $867?
Sep 8, 2015 8:30 PM - bamhm182: waste your money on what? The new couplers?
    Sep 8, 2015 8:31 PM - bamhm182: Maybe with tax?
    Sep 8, 2015 8:31 PM - bamhm182: I paid $860.70 for mine with 1 day shipping
Sep 8, 2015 8:39 PM - Mike Kelly: wow the owner of the 3d printing facebook group just went off on me because i was trying to honor the OP's request to buy an assembled printer
Sep 8, 2015 8:39 PM - Mike Kelly: i said "I'm suggesting something based on what he wants, not what you want for him"
Sep 8, 2015 8:39 PM - Mike Kelly: then he called me an asshole and threatened to ban me

Sep 8, 2015 8:40 PM - Mike Kelly: some people man
    Sep 8, 2015 8:41 PM - bamhm182: Haha, wow
Sep 8, 2015 8:41 PM - bamhm182: Someone posted on the group asking for a good assembled 3d printer? I take it the owner suggested he build one?
    Sep 8, 2015 8:44 PM - Mike Kelly: the rostock max v2
Sep 8, 2015 8:44 PM - Mike Kelly: he was asking if the lulzbot taz 5 was a good printer
Sep 8, 2015 8:45 PM - Mike Kelly: some people had already replied and I said "yeah the taz5 is a great printer from a great company"
Sep 8, 2015 8:45 PM - Mike Kelly: someone replied that seemecnc has an education program, so i linked to lulzbots program and said "plus it comes preassembled"
Sep 8, 2015 8:45 PM - Mike Kelly: douchebag owner replied "assembly is not something to be scared of"
Sep 8, 2015 8:45 PM - Mike Kelly: then some other nonsense about what it teaches you
    Sep 8, 2015 8:46 PM - Mike Kelly: i replied "i'm not scared but he's an educator, not necessarily a tinkerer/hobbyist"
Sep 8, 2015 8:46 PM - Mike Glass: taz are expensive as hell
Sep 8, 2015 8:46 PM - Mike Kelly: and he replied "if my 15 year old brother can build one i'm sure he can"
Sep 8, 2015 8:46 PM - Mike Kelly: so then i said the thing above
Sep 8, 2015 8:46 PM - Mike Kelly: and he flipped his shit
Sep 8, 2015 8:46 PM - Mike Kelly: saying i was being disrepectful (what?)
Sep 8, 2015 8:46 PM - Mike Kelly: and saying that was against the rules (it's not)
Sep 8, 2015 8:47 PM - Mike Kelly: and to keep pushing his buttons
    Sep 8, 2015 8:47 PM - bamhm182: Sounds like a pretty cool guy. *eyeroll*
Sep 8, 2015 8:47 PM - Mike Kelly: so i replied "in all politeness, i'm not trying to be disrespectful. the internet tends to make you come off the worst possible way. but I've said my bit so good night"
Sep 8, 2015 8:47 PM - Mike Kelly: then he deleted the thread
Sep 8, 2015 8:47 PM - Mike Kelly: wish i took a screenshot because wowwwwww
Sep 8, 2015 8:48 PM - Mike Kelly: met the guy that sells the gigabot though, we chatted a bit
Sep 8, 2015 8:48 PM - Mike Kelly: he seemed nice
Sep 8, 2015 8:50 PM - danzca6: Bahm, I just bought the couplers you linked to. I'll give it a go before buying the new upgrade kit. Grinding threads off will be nerve racking. I've got 2 days to think about that though.
Sep 8, 2015 8:51 PM - danzca6: Mike, some people are just born a-holes and just get bigger
Sep 8, 2015 8:52 PM - NFOsec: danz: probably because they have more than 9 probe points.
    Sep 8, 2015 8:52 PM - NFOsec: :(
Sep 8, 2015 8:52 PM - danzca6: That guy sounds like one of them
    Sep 8, 2015 8:52 PM - danzca6: Not you nfo
Sep 8, 2015 8:54 PM - bamhm182: I was a little nervous about it too, dan, but it's no big deal
    Sep 8, 2015 8:54 PM - NFOsec: LOL.
Sep 8, 2015 8:55 PM - NFOsec: Yeah, MK probably thinks I am.
Sep 8, 2015 8:55 PM - bamhm182: I just used my little harbor freight dremel with what was probably the wrong bit for the job and had no issues
Sep 8, 2015 8:55 PM - NFOsec: I'm the kind of guy where they gauge the real a-holes against -- is he worse than him? yes. if not, nice guy.
Sep 8, 2015 8:55 PM - danzca6: So once done, any going back
    Sep 8, 2015 8:56 PM - danzca6: Lol nfo
Sep 8, 2015 8:57 PM - NFOsec: MAN, 881 lbs for this printer, but impressive build isn't worth that weight (39x39x39 ish). http://www.3ders.org/articles/20150...version-of-x1000-large-format-3d-printer.html
    Sep 8, 2015 8:58 PM - NFOsec: ah, 39x32x23.
    Sep 8, 2015 8:58 PM - NFOsec: wierd.
Sep 8, 2015 8:59 PM - danzca6: I can't see explaining that to the wife. You big to tuck in the corner
    Sep 8, 2015 9:00 PM - danzca6: *you should be Too

Sep 8, 2015 9:04 PM - NFOsec: I think MK sort of dared me to do this earlier... [IMG]

    Sep 8, 2015 9:05 PM - NFOsec: And the O goes to....
Sep 8, 2015 9:05 PM - NFOsec: that's the film reel and the 2 feet.
Sep 8, 2015 9:05 PM - NFOsec: got another 6.83 inches to go up.
Sep 8, 2015 9:06 PM - Mike Kelly: That wasn't me. Maybe mg but it could have been don or jb
Sep 8, 2015 9:06 PM - Mike Kelly: Also that's what she said
Sep 8, 2015 9:07 PM - NFOsec: Remember the oscar discussion earlier?
Sep 8, 2015 9:07 PM - NFOsec: tolding about glod, the new Hatchbox color. certain prints really show nice, others not so much.
Sep 8, 2015 9:08 PM - danzca6: Oh yeah, I said you could print an Oscar
    Sep 8, 2015 9:09 PM - danzca6: That glod looks like butterscotch
    Sep 8, 2015 9:09 PM - Mike Kelly: Also I don't think your one
Sep 8, 2015 9:10 PM - NFOsec: Much appreciated MK, I could say the same for you. :)
Sep 8, 2015 9:10 PM - NFOsec: yeah, butterscotch is a good description.
    Sep 8, 2015 9:11 PM - danzca6: It looks good though
Sep 8, 2015 9:11 PM - NFOsec: however, I printed a pulley from thingiverse and it really shows up "glod", the stock money clip image in the MatterControl library and that looked like dijon mustard/butterscotch puke.
    Sep 8, 2015 9:11 PM - NFOsec: I'm excited about the Taulman 910 I'm getting tomorrow though.
    Sep 8, 2015 9:12 PM - danzca6: Any 007 fans? Could print a good finger
    Sep 8, 2015 9:12 PM - danzca6: Gold
    Sep 8, 2015 9:13 PM - danzca6: Darn autocorrect
Sep 8, 2015 9:13 PM - danzca6: Shoutbox on the cellphone is painful
Sep 8, 2015 9:15 PM - danzca6: What are you going to print with the 910?
    Sep 8, 2015 9:15 PM - Mike Kelly: Do you mean a "glod"en gun
    Sep 8, 2015 9:15 PM - danzca6: Nicely said sir
Sep 8, 2015 9:17 PM - NFOsec: yeah, I was going to use my Sense scanner and get a good capture of the "finger", then print gold.
Sep 8, 2015 9:17 PM - NFOsec: a gloden gun would be cool.
Sep 8, 2015 9:17 PM - Mike Kelly: You should ask don about his paper weight
Sep 8, 2015 9:18 PM - Mike Kelly: I just got some gold pla from Robo. Not sure what to make with it though
    Sep 8, 2015 9:19 PM - bamhm182: So what's the deal with glod?
Sep 8, 2015 9:19 PM - bamhm182: Does everyone keep misspelling it, or is it an inside joke?
    Sep 8, 2015 9:20 PM - danzca6: Misprint on his spool
Sep 8, 2015 9:20 PM - danzca6: HB spelled it wrong on 3 spools NFO got the other day
Sep 8, 2015 9:20 PM - NFOsec: I'm going to print some mounts, and a controlable gimball for my Draganflyer/goPro Hero4
    Sep 8, 2015 9:21 PM - bamhm182: Gotcha
Sep 8, 2015 9:21 PM - NFOsec: does this work right... [IMG]
    Sep 8, 2015 9:21 PM - NFOsec: probably not. so. https://www.dropbox.com/sc/725l0p9ctkac88i/AACcmSWdLrjTwCo8_miJ2St1a
    Sep 8, 2015 9:21 PM - bamhm182: Nope
    Sep 8, 2015 9:22 PM - bamhm182: Haha
Sep 8, 2015 9:22 PM - NFOsec: I'm keeping one box at the advice of a certain person. :)
Sep 8, 2015 9:22 PM - Mike Kelly: Yeah you can't hot link from Dropbox. Use imgur or the imgur app
Sep 8, 2015 9:22 PM - bamhm182: Glod: Kind of like gold, but more butterscotchy, so we don't want to call it "Gold"
Sep 8, 2015 9:22 PM - NFOsec: yeah, but they may have another color, Glob.
Sep 8, 2015 9:23 PM - NFOsec: will have to find that out the next time I order more.
Sep 8, 2015 9:23 PM - Mike Kelly: I got some prototype supply "gold". It's yellow
Sep 8, 2015 9:23 PM - bamhm182: That's what I've been using. The imgur app with an imgur account is great. Just snap the picture > share > imgur; log in on computer > account > images > share
    Sep 8, 2015 9:23 PM - Mike Kelly: ^
Sep 8, 2015 9:24 PM - NFOsec: there is JUST not something right with the BurritoBot mexican food printer.
Sep 8, 2015 9:24 PM - NFOsec: yeah, I probably should use that, dropbox isn't as great for posting images here except url.
    Sep 8, 2015 9:24 PM - Harry: Hey All
Sep 8, 2015 9:25 PM - Harry: For those of you who have sent me emails for Robbie parts- i'll be getting back to you shortly
    Sep 8, 2015 9:25 PM - danzca6: Mr Harry
Sep 8, 2015 9:25 PM - Harry: We had run out of parts- and then the holiday weekend -= no work got done on cutting new parts
    Sep 8, 2015 9:25 PM - Harry: Hello Danzca6
Sep 8, 2015 9:26 PM - danzca6: I thought Bill was printing all the rest
    Sep 8, 2015 9:27 PM - Harry: haha
    Sep 8, 2015 9:27 PM - NFOsec: I blame BillMonroe for that. :)
    Sep 8, 2015 9:27 PM - Harry: he's been printing a lot
Sep 8, 2015 9:27 PM - NFOsec: The armpit RA18 is done Harry, on its' way to you.
Sep 8, 2015 9:27 PM - Harry: you can semi blame him maybe? haha
    Sep 8, 2015 9:27 PM - NFOsec: lol.
Sep 8, 2015 9:27 PM - Harry: Awesome! Thank you
Sep 8, 2015 9:28 PM - NFOsec: actually 2 flavors, I wasn't sure about the first print (it was my first actual Robo3D print ever) -- slight tweaking and I did one in Hatchbox's new color "glod"
    Sep 8, 2015 9:28 PM - danzca6: And there it is
Sep 8, 2015 9:29 PM - bamhm182: I've been trying to print this one piece for the longest time, but my printer keeps screwing up
Sep 8, 2015 9:29 PM - Harry: oh awesome, so did you send both?
    Sep 8, 2015 9:29 PM - NFOsec: yessir.
    Sep 8, 2015 9:29 PM - Harry: Thanks!
Sep 8, 2015 9:29 PM - Harry: Lots of parts have been showing up
Sep 8, 2015 9:29 PM - Harry: Its going to look amazing
Sep 8, 2015 9:29 PM - bamhm182: I think I've got it good now. Planning on printing out this last piece and putting together a package with my leadscrews to send your way, hopefully tomorrow, Harry
Sep 8, 2015 9:29 PM - NFOsec: I'm a critical person when it comes to quality, you might go with the orange, but glod gives it a different perspective.
Sep 8, 2015 9:30 PM - NFOsec: none of us can wait. I heard about what Bill was doing... I suggested embedding an annoy-a-tron into one of the parts.
Sep 8, 2015 9:30 PM - Harry: Sounds great bamhm! Thank you. You got the new leadscrews, right?
Sep 8, 2015 9:30 PM - bamhm182: The one time I accidentally printed one of the pieces twice, and THAT didn't screw up. :/
    Sep 8, 2015 9:30 PM - danzca6: Nfo, did you sign it?
Sep 8, 2015 9:30 PM - bamhm182: Wait, did you send them out already, Harry?
Sep 8, 2015 9:30 PM - NFOsec: bamhm: you could have easily worked for the government. :)
Sep 8, 2015 9:30 PM - bamhm182: I was thinking you were going to send them once you received mine
Sep 8, 2015 9:30 PM - Harry: haha. yea they were sent- let me see if i can get you a TR
Sep 8, 2015 9:31 PM - NFOsec: danz: one no, the other yes.
Sep 8, 2015 9:31 PM - bamhm182: NFO: Hey, what a coincidence! Haha (I'm in the Air Force)
Sep 8, 2015 9:31 PM - Harry: I'll DM you your TR rn
Sep 8, 2015 9:31 PM - NFOsec: glod was signed. orange was not.
Sep 8, 2015 9:31 PM - NFOsec: my wife said: orange you going to sign it? Bill was...
    Sep 8, 2015 9:31 PM - Harry: haha
Sep 8, 2015 9:32 PM - Harry: bahm, just sent you your tr
Sep 8, 2015 9:32 PM - bamhm182: That's awesome, Harry. Thanks! I just tossed back on my old ones
    Sep 8, 2015 9:32 PM - Harry: awsome thanks!
Sep 8, 2015 9:32 PM - Harry: for the 10 or so people who got bent leadscrews
Sep 8, 2015 9:32 PM - Harry: we are doing an advanced RMA
Sep 8, 2015 9:32 PM - Harry: so sending you the replacement since some people have the bent ones installed
Sep 8, 2015 9:32 PM - Harry: we dont want to leave them without a printer for a week or whatever
    Sep 8, 2015 9:33 PM - danzca6: Noe that's service
    Sep 8, 2015 9:33 PM - danzca6: Now
Sep 8, 2015 9:34 PM - Harry: haha. thanks Danzca
Sep 8, 2015 9:36 PM - NFOsec: if this oscar I'm printing in Hatchbox Glod comes out twerking, then I'll say I have a bent leadscrew, otherwise, as a recipient of a new Robo3D R1 +plus model last Friday, all is fine.
    Sep 8, 2015 9:37 PM - danzca6: You've only had it for a week?

Sep 8, 2015 9:37 PM - NFOsec: just got it fresh on Friday.
    Sep 8, 2015 9:37 PM - danzca6: Thanks for the visual btw
Sep 8, 2015 9:38 PM - Mike Kelly: Harry do you happen to have a TR for me. Trying to decide if I want to finish putting my Robo back together
Sep 8, 2015 9:38 PM - NFOsec: prior to I was using my Zenbotcnc retrofitted with a Micron3DP all metal extruder. That system is too heavy duty for 3D printing work.
Sep 8, 2015 9:38 PM - Harry: Mike emailed you like 3 minutes ago
Sep 8, 2015 9:38 PM - Harry: or skyped you it
Sep 8, 2015 9:38 PM - Harry: expected for tomorrow
Sep 8, 2015 9:38 PM - bamhm182: I figured you had yours for longer, NFOsec, definitely doing a lot better than I was a week in. Haha. Did you have any other 3d printer before?
Sep 8, 2015 9:38 PM - Mike Kelly: Lol that you did
Sep 8, 2015 9:40 PM - NFOsec: well, since I was in the desktop cnc stuff for a few years, the concepts were not that far off, but I've done 3D printing for about 3 years, just not so much at the quality I have been recently. mostly prototyping stuff.
    Sep 8, 2015 9:41 PM - NFOsec: plus I have a background in graphics/multimedia, amongst things.
    Sep 8, 2015 9:41 PM - danzca6: Impressive start
Sep 8, 2015 9:42 PM - NFOsec: it does help, but MK really saved the day by giving me forearm shots that obscured what I needed to do, the unit was clogged within the first 5 minutes even when it was at temp.
Sep 8, 2015 9:43 PM - danzca6: Mk is the man. Well calling it a night. I have to be up for work in a few. Happy printing everyone.
Sep 8, 2015 9:43 PM - NFOsec: yup, cheerios danzca
    Sep 8, 2015 9:45 PM - bamhm182: Later, danz
Sep 8, 2015 9:47 PM - Mike Kelly: Haha my beefy forearms ruined the video!
Sep 8, 2015 9:47 PM - bamhm182: That is a pretty good start then. In the beginning of last year, this girl I work with wanted a Scooby Doo dog tag that instead of saying "SD" said "AB" for her dog's initials. I modeled one up pretty quick and paid Shapeways a few bucks to print it off, then I painted it and gave it to her. From that point on, I was hellbent on getting a 3D printer. Finally had the cash for one in April, but some stuff came up and I didn't have money for it
    Sep 8, 2015 9:47 PM - bamhm182: again until October
Sep 8, 2015 9:48 PM - Mike Kelly: Also you all should have edit back. Huzzah!
Sep 8, 2015 9:48 PM - NFOsec: definitely a wise choice, nothing like spending all your time...
    Sep 8, 2015 9:48 PM - Mike Kelly: Don't abuse it ;)
    Sep 8, 2015 9:50 PM - bamhm182: [IMG]
    Sep 8, 2015 9:50 PM - NFOsec: that's cool, nice size
    Sep 8, 2015 9:50 PM - bamhm182: But... but... I can't edit posts by other people. It's not back!
Sep 8, 2015 9:51 PM - bamhm182: Just kidding, that's awesome, MK. I missed being able to edit my posts
Sep 8, 2015 9:51 PM - NFOsec: mm... i wonder if there is a way to move all apps on android to a SD card in one sweep instead of one by one... time to search the 'net
Sep 8, 2015 9:53 PM - bamhm182: I haven't seen a way to do that, not to be said that it can't be done though
Sep 8, 2015 9:54 PM - bamhm182: Thanks, NFO. The painting on the small one was less than stellar, but the big one turned out pretty well. Unfortunately she never put it on her dog's collar. :/
Sep 8, 2015 9:54 PM - NFOsec: batch moding with a rooted phone yeah, but SD Move and SD Watch help create a filtered list. still looking.
Sep 8, 2015 9:55 PM - NFOsec: App2SD III, new one does it. but probably a pay to move more than 10 at a time. :)
Sep 8, 2015 10:03 PM - NFOsec: So a Raspberry Pi B+/2 wsa used to fully control all functions of a newly built 3DP. interesting. I never took the PI as a speed demon.
    Sep 8, 2015 10:06 PM - bamhm182: 3DP = 3D Printer?
Sep 8, 2015 10:06 PM - NFOsec: yea, I hate typing the whole thing.
Sep 8, 2015 10:06 PM - bamhm182: It may not be a speed demon by any normal standards, but it kicks the ever-living shit out of an arduino
Sep 8, 2015 10:07 PM - bamhm182: I forget who was talking about try to do that, but there was someone who wanted to make a raspberry pi image that could run a printer
Sep 8, 2015 10:08 PM - NFOsec: yeah, I've got 2 B+ models and I laser cut acrylic cases for them using the http://www.makercase.com/ plans for boxes.
Sep 8, 2015 10:08 PM - bamhm182: I've been throwing around the idea of trying to make an instrument cluster for my '93 Honda Del Sol that runs on a raspberry pi with a ~7" screen
Sep 8, 2015 10:09 PM - bamhm182: But as my car doesn't have the On-Board-Diagnostic-II, just OBDI, it's not possible without a TON of work
Sep 8, 2015 10:09 PM - NFOsec: I thought about taking one and using all of the parts I have to build another system, but I wanted to use the concept of the http://rigidbot.com/ where I could build out a much larger frame and print size.
Sep 8, 2015 10:10 PM - bamhm182: So therefore it's going on my list of "yeah right" car projects, right next to an engine swap considering that's what it would take to upgrade to OSDII
Sep 8, 2015 10:11 PM - bamhm182: I've been working on a gameboy. I haven't put a lot of work into it since I tried doing it before I took a vacation and have been doing other things with my printer since I got back
Sep 8, 2015 10:11 PM - NFOsec: I've got 6 NEMA-23 motors still handy, another G540 driver box, cables, etc. it could be doable.
Sep 8, 2015 10:11 PM - NFOsec: I'd probably try out that quad extruder for a project like that.
    Sep 8, 2015 10:12 PM - bamhm182: Seems like fun
Sep 8, 2015 10:12 PM - NFOsec: but it would take a little research to see what I'd have to code up, etc.
Sep 8, 2015 10:12 PM - NFOsec: it could be. project for the winter.
Sep 8, 2015 10:12 PM - NFOsec: I'd like to put it at a 300mm or greater speed.
Sep 8, 2015 10:13 PM - NFOsec: but it would be nice to see something of quality vs. just quantity.
    Sep 8, 2015 10:13 PM - bamhm182: That could be pretty sweet
    Sep 8, 2015 10:13 PM - NFOsec: but I like what I have.
Sep 8, 2015 10:13 PM - bamhm182: I've heard good things about the E3D volcano in terms of printing things out quickly
    Sep 8, 2015 10:14 PM - NFOsec: Yeah, as have I.
Sep 8, 2015 10:14 PM - bamhm182: I want to build one of those MPCNCs (have you seen them?) but I'm afraid the military is going to move me soon and would rather not build it just to have to take it right back apart and worry about transporting it
Sep 8, 2015 10:14 PM - NFOsec: E3D is a quality product for the most part.
    Sep 8, 2015 10:15 PM - bamhm182: I love my new E3D v6
Sep 8, 2015 10:15 PM - NFOsec: I'd love to see other hot ends/extruderse take advantage of the quick change approach that my Micron 3DP used.
Sep 8, 2015 10:15 PM - NFOsec: MK: What do the Robo3D's ship with stock now?
Sep 8, 2015 10:15 PM - NFOsec: I wouldn't know what I have without looking at some tech spec and I've been ignorant of that lately.
Sep 8, 2015 10:17 PM - bamhm182: I believe it's still the hex that they've been using for the longest time
Sep 8, 2015 10:17 PM - NFOsec: My other extruder/hotend was ordered from Israel.
Sep 8, 2015 10:17 PM - bamhm182: Does your have a silicone boot on it?
    Sep 8, 2015 10:17 PM - NFOsec: yes.
Sep 8, 2015 10:17 PM - bamhm182: Yeah, should still be the same one, AFAIK
    Sep 8, 2015 10:18 PM - NFOsec: gotcha.
    Sep 8, 2015 10:18 PM - bamhm182: http://www.amazon.com/RepRapDiscount-Hexagon-Hotend-1-75mm-nozzle/dp/B00W8FL5BS
    Sep 8, 2015 10:18 PM - NFOsec: well, it's not bad.
Sep 8, 2015 10:19 PM - bamhm182: Nah, my biggest issue was the fan, then the therm started to go out on it
    Sep 8, 2015 10:19 PM - NFOsec: yeah.
Sep 8, 2015 10:20 PM - NFOsec: I had one print where the boot was pulled, then got filled with filament.
Sep 8, 2015 10:20 PM - NFOsec: my bad not catching it soon enough, but wasn't rocket science to fix.
Sep 8, 2015 10:20 PM - NFOsec: I have this as the other one. https://micron3dp.myshopify.com/col...ll-metal-state-of-the-art-3d-printer-extruder
    Sep 8, 2015 10:21 PM - bamhm182: Yikes. $250? Worth it?
Sep 8, 2015 10:21 PM - NFOsec: it has the feeder/extruder/hotend all bundled into that. the interesting thing is changing the hotends can be done by a simple twisting of the shield, pull dowen, then unscrew by hand.
Sep 8, 2015 10:21 PM - NFOsec: yes. very much worth it. my God. no clogs ever but the problem is I didn't really put it on the right equipment.
Sep 8, 2015 10:22 PM - bamhm182: Yeah, watching their video now, that's pretty cool
Sep 8, 2015 10:22 PM - NFOsec: my zenbotcnc was retrofitted for 4-axis work.
Sep 8, 2015 10:22 PM - NFOsec: if you have a larger system, this is probably one of the best I've seen -- they have a facebook page. but when you see things like E3D, etc. you iknow competition is fierce.
Sep 8, 2015 10:23 PM - NFOsec: I looked to see if I could "fit" it in the Robo, could, but tolerance on the edges could reduce my print sizes by .5" x and y, and give me 1" on Z.
Sep 8, 2015 10:24 PM - bamhm182: Once I decide to tackle bowden again, I'm going to reprint MK's modular carriage
    Sep 8, 2015 10:24 PM - bamhm182: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:681916
Sep 8, 2015 10:24 PM - bamhm182: That is an older version, but it will give you the idea
Sep 8, 2015 10:25 PM - bamhm182: Just has plates connected to the carriage that can easily be swapped out
Sep 8, 2015 10:25 PM - NFOsec: yeah, that makes sense.
Sep 8, 2015 10:25 PM - bamhm182: Just noticed that my printer was running at 195c, it's so weird...
    Sep 8, 2015 10:26 PM - NFOsec: wierd.
    Sep 8, 2015 10:26 PM - NFOsec: low point?
    Sep 8, 2015 10:26 PM - NFOsec: simplify3d?
Sep 8, 2015 10:26 PM - bamhm182: I don't understand why it would have no problem heating up to WAY past 205, but it has issues keeping it at 205
Sep 8, 2015 10:26 PM - bamhm182: It has no problem keep it at 195 though...
    Sep 8, 2015 10:26 PM - bamhm182: Yeah, using S3D. Low point?
Sep 8, 2015 10:27 PM - NFOsec: well, fan is on, could adjust that a little?
    Sep 8, 2015 10:27 PM - bamhm182: The parts fans?
Sep 8, 2015 10:27 PM - NFOsec: well, I remember in S3D that there was a minimum start heat setting of 195.
Sep 8, 2015 10:27 PM - NFOsec: in other words if it went below 195 it wouldn't print, but it would print anything over 195.
Sep 8, 2015 10:28 PM - NFOsec: I had that same observation yesterday when I was trying something.
    Sep 8, 2015 10:28 PM - NFOsec: Oscar's ass is almost done.
    Sep 8, 2015 10:31 PM - bamhm182: It twerking yet?
Sep 8, 2015 10:31 PM - NFOsec: no, so I have straight leadscrews
Sep 8, 2015 10:31 PM - bamhm182: Disconnected the parts fans for a couple minutes to see if that would change anything, it didn't

    Sep 8, 2015 10:32 PM - bamhm182: Awesome
Sep 8, 2015 10:32 PM - bamhm182: Excited for mine to get here on Friday
Sep 8, 2015 10:32 PM - NFOsec: I think the problem was more of people who ordered them as a replacement part not new systems.
Sep 8, 2015 10:32 PM - NFOsec: let me see where I saw that setting.
Sep 8, 2015 10:34 PM - bamhm182: Well, I'm not having an issue getting a print started anymore, I've just been telling it to heat to ABS, then drop down to PLA and it starts printing
Sep 8, 2015 10:34 PM - NFOsec: ok, in tools, machine control panel, extruder temp was set there. but if you look at "Edit Process Settings", under the Temperature tab you'll see where it is fixed to 195 lower.
Sep 8, 2015 10:35 PM - bamhm182: I feel like my PID settings may be wrong
Sep 8, 2015 10:35 PM - NFOsec: There is a statement: "wait for temperature to stabilize before printing
    Sep 8, 2015 10:35 PM - NFOsec: possible.
    Sep 8, 2015 10:36 PM - NFOsec: but I'm just a neighborhood idiot.
    Sep 8, 2015 10:36 PM - NFOsec: layer 1 - 200c, per layer settings 195.
Sep 8, 2015 10:36 PM - NFOsec: that's what I see in my default settinsg.
Sep 8, 2015 10:37 PM - bamhm182: I have my printer running on an XXL display, not actually connected to S3D
    Sep 8, 2015 10:37 PM - NFOsec: ah.
Sep 8, 2015 10:37 PM - bamhm182: Once this print is done I'll do some playing with that
    Sep 8, 2015 10:37 PM - bamhm182:
Sep 8, 2015 10:38 PM - NFOsec: sorry, out of my area of access/knowledge. but if you trash it, they will come.
Sep 8, 2015 10:39 PM - NFOsec: makes sense, at lesat you have something to try.
    Sep 8, 2015 10:39 PM - bamhm182: Yeah
Sep 8, 2015 10:40 PM - NFOsec: see, there's hope for you yet. LOL
    Sep 8, 2015 10:41 PM - bamhm182: Haha
    Sep 8, 2015 10:46 PM - bamhm182: [IMG]
    Sep 8, 2015 10:47 PM - NFOsec: nice
Sep 8, 2015 10:47 PM - bamhm182: Hey, the edit button is already coming in handy, haha. Accidentally posted one that was WAY too big at first
Sep 8, 2015 10:47 PM - bamhm182: Here you can see the difference between my old couplers(left) and my new ones(right)
Sep 8, 2015 10:48 PM - bamhm182: Pictures don't do it justice, but it is definitely at least $10 worth of improvement
    Sep 8, 2015 10:48 PM - NFOsec: yes
    Sep 8, 2015 10:48 PM - NFOsec: clear difference
Sep 8, 2015 10:52 PM - NFOsec: MK: a buddy of mine has some of that PEI Poly Thermeride stuff, I asked for a sheet, going to drop it off tomorrow.
Sep 8, 2015 10:53 PM - NFOsec: am curious to see what it's like.
    Sep 8, 2015 10:56 PM - bamhm182: I think MK's gone for the night
Sep 8, 2015 10:56 PM - bamhm182: The "Members Online Now" bit doesn't auto update
Sep 8, 2015 11:04 PM - bamhm182: Wow, my PID was CRAZY far off from where PID Autotune said it should be
Sep 8, 2015 11:28 PM - bamhm182: Changing the PID didn't do anything. I did notice something though, S3D has NO problem getting the temps right, but my XXL LCD does...
Sep 9, 2015 1:32 AM - Bill Monroe: good morning
Sep 9, 2015 5:24 AM - JeffTheMess: good morning robonauts
    Sep 9, 2015 5:27 AM - bamhm182: Morning, Jeff
    Sep 9, 2015 5:27 AM - bamhm182: How's it going?
Sep 9, 2015 5:27 AM - Bill Monroe: hi guys
    Sep 9, 2015 5:27 AM - bamhm182: Hey Bill
Sep 9, 2015 5:28 AM - bamhm182: Bill, was that you that had a small image of what your print will look like when it's done overlaying your stream?
    Sep 9, 2015 5:28 AM - Bill Monroe: i do that, yes
Sep 9, 2015 5:29 AM - bamhm182: What software do you use? XSplit?
    Sep 9, 2015 5:29 AM - Bill Monroe: yes
Sep 9, 2015 5:30 AM - bamhm182: How do you like it? I was looking into software that I could use to create a video for this class I'm in now and came across XSplit and started thinking about how awesome it could be for use with streaming the 3d printer
Sep 9, 2015 5:30 AM - bamhm182: Also, do you have free, Personal, or Premium?
Sep 9, 2015 5:30 AM - JeffTheMess: how goes it bam
    Sep 9, 2015 5:30 AM - JeffTheMess: and bill
Sep 9, 2015 5:31 AM - bamhm182: Not too bad, working on printing out this piece of Robbie and waiting until about 10 to go talk to one of the big bosses
Sep 9, 2015 5:33 AM - Bill Monroe: hmm hold on i'll check
Sep 9, 2015 5:35 AM - Bill Monroe: Xsplit Broadcaster - free version.. no mention of personal or otherwise
Sep 9, 2015 5:37 AM - bamhm182: Alright, cool. Personal is the cheaper subscription model, Premium is the higher tier. Was thinking about paying the $5 a month for Personal so I could get their video editor, among other niceities.
Sep 9, 2015 5:38 AM - Bill Monroe: the key to success is to not scrimp on the camera..
    Sep 9, 2015 5:40 AM - bamhm182: Yeah, I totally scrimped on the camera
    Sep 9, 2015 5:40 AM - bamhm182: Got a pretty crappy one. I'll be upgrading it "soon"
    Sep 9, 2015 5:45 AM - Bill Monroe: I'm starting a Robbie print now using known-bad filament..
    Sep 9, 2015 5:46 AM - bamhm182: How's it bad?
Sep 9, 2015 5:47 AM - Bill Monroe: they didnt say... only that they had some people claim it was bad.. asked me to try it
Sep 9, 2015 5:47 AM - Bill Monroe: its not as good as Hatchbox, that's clear so far
Sep 9, 2015 5:48 AM - Bill Monroe: seems to want to shrink a lot
    Sep 9, 2015 5:53 AM - bamhm182: Weird
Sep 9, 2015 5:54 AM - bamhm182: So I just realized that XSplit is a windows only software.
Sep 9, 2015 5:54 AM - bamhm182: Got OS X on my computer in the garage (there's a reason it's in the garage, haha)
Sep 9, 2015 5:58 AM - Bill Monroe: youtube isnt getting the boradcast from xspilt today, for some reason
Sep 9, 2015 5:58 AM - bamhm182: Guess it's about time I get to installing Parallels on it and throwing Windows in there
Sep 9, 2015 5:58 AM - Bill Monroe: ustream has it though
    Sep 9, 2015 5:58 AM - bamhm182: I was able to do it
Sep 9, 2015 5:59 AM - bamhm182: Private anyways, just made a couple test videos
    Sep 9, 2015 5:59 AM - Bill Monroe: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/bills-lab
Sep 9, 2015 6:00 AM - bamhm182: Just tried again and it still works for me
Sep 9, 2015 6:01 AM - Bill Monroe: Clinton needs to go away
Sep 9, 2015 6:02 AM - bamhm182: And let Trump trump the elections by default?
Sep 9, 2015 6:02 AM - JeffTheMess: i hate you can't mute ads on ustream
Sep 9, 2015 6:02 AM - bamhm182: I'm not saying that I like her, but our options are pretty limited this year... Going to be interesting
Sep 9, 2015 6:02 AM - Bill Monroe: id take trump over clinton in a heartbeat
Sep 9, 2015 6:03 AM - Bill Monroe: she is not an option
Sep 9, 2015 6:03 AM - Bill Monroe: inpet morality-absent bald face liar
    Sep 9, 2015 6:04 AM - bamhm182: True
Sep 9, 2015 6:04 AM - Bill Monroe: if this filament can get to 10 layers, I'll let it go but it's really crap
    Sep 9, 2015 6:04 AM - bamhm182: Wasn
Sep 9, 2015 6:05 AM - bamhm182: *Wasn't saying I'm going to vote for her, just saying two shitty options are better than one shitty choice
    Sep 9, 2015 6:05 AM - bamhm182: It doesn't look too bad so far
Sep 9, 2015 6:06 AM - Bill Monroe: ya. it's not good.. seems to not want to stick to anyhing, ven itself
Sep 9, 2015 6:06 AM - Bill Monroe: even itself
Sep 9, 2015 6:12 AM - daniel871: You say that like that makes her any different than any politician ever, Bill.
    Sep 9, 2015 6:12 AM - bamhm182: Lame
Sep 9, 2015 6:12 AM - Bill Monroe: she is.. she's the extreme example of an integrity and ability acuum
Sep 9, 2015 6:12 AM - Bill Monroe: err vacuum
Sep 9, 2015 6:13 AM - daniel871: I'd honestly prefer another Clinton in office if the relative calm and economic success came back with it.
Sep 9, 2015 6:13 AM - daniel871: Biggest controversy was a blowjob in the white house.
Sep 9, 2015 6:13 AM - Bill Monroe: lie lie lie.. keep lying until people believe it.. worked for Bill.. but not for he.. she *finally* admitted all the things aready known about her emails...
Sep 9, 2015 6:14 AM - Bill Monroe: all those months that she starred into cameras and lied.. but the libtard lemmings will forget all that
Sep 9, 2015 6:14 AM - Bill Monroe: ok.. no more about that.. liberal fantasies are harshing my mellow :)
Sep 9, 2015 6:16 AM - daniel871: What, specifically, was so terrible about the emails again?
Sep 9, 2015 6:17 AM - daniel871: Other than lying about using a personal email to talk about official business?
Sep 9, 2015 6:22 AM - bamhm182: The fact that they were classified and being sent on personal email on an unclassified means
Sep 9, 2015 6:22 AM - bamhm182: Do you know how far fucked I'd be if I did that? So very far fucked...
Sep 9, 2015 6:24 AM - NFOsec: Yeah, I'll take trump over clinton any day. Morning folks.
Sep 9, 2015 6:24 AM - bamhm182: I mean, god. One time I walked from classified part of my building to another classified part and I forgot I had a piece of paper with something classified on it in my pocket while walking down the unclassified hallway. The powers that be had a checkpoint, found it, and wanted my head on a platter
    Sep 9, 2015 6:24 AM - jbigler1986: moring

Sep 9, 2015 6:25 AM - bamhm182: Can't even imagine if I sent an email like "Secret, secret, secret, but just don't tell anyone, K?" over gmail
    Sep 9, 2015 6:25 AM - bamhm182: Morning, guys
Sep 9, 2015 6:25 AM - NFOsec: deflate gate, Brady did the same. bold face stared in the camera and lied. folks are getting good, but not THAT good.
Sep 9, 2015 6:25 AM - daniel871: Meanwhile, all of the actual DOJ releases about it say nothing classified was sent on those emails.
Sep 9, 2015 6:25 AM - jbigler1986: yeah. you would probably be prosecuted honestly
Sep 9, 2015 6:26 AM - daniel871: Things were classified later and redacted, but that's a fine distinction because documents are classified after the fact all the time.
Sep 9, 2015 6:26 AM - NFOsec: bamhm: actually, anything sent via Google+/Gmail becomes (C) theirs and they have it. read the fine print. colleges everywhere use gmail services, but the fine print says Google has the rights.
Sep 9, 2015 6:26 AM - NFOsec: my name here might be indicative of my field.
Sep 9, 2015 6:27 AM - Bill Monroe: sec... uhh secretary right :)
Sep 9, 2015 6:27 AM - NFOsec: yeah, right bill, that is if that's your real name. LOL.
Sep 9, 2015 6:27 AM - daniel871: Sure, anything posted on the Internet is being recorded and either sold to marketing firms or (usually both) looked at by some poor bastard in an agency somewhere to determine if it's a security risk or not.
Sep 9, 2015 6:27 AM - Bill Monroe: who really know for sure?
    Sep 9, 2015 6:28 AM - jbigler1986: i know
    Sep 9, 2015 6:28 AM - daniel871: Most boring job ever.
Sep 9, 2015 6:28 AM - Bill Monroe: btw... where is my mandolin?
    Sep 9, 2015 6:28 AM - jbigler1986: ;)
Sep 9, 2015 6:28 AM - NFOsec: well, one could argue that everywhere. linkedin, etc.
    Sep 9, 2015 6:28 AM - NFOsec: what's the most boring job?
Sep 9, 2015 6:28 AM - NFOsec: why, you slicing?
Sep 9, 2015 6:29 AM - NFOsec: that would be a good name for a new software slicer package for 3dprinting.
Sep 9, 2015 6:29 AM - daniel871: The Homeland Security/FBI/CIA/whatever guys that are actually tasked with reading all of the recorded emails/chatlogs/etc. that people think the government cares about.
Sep 9, 2015 6:29 AM - Bill Monroe: yep, this filament is lifting in the corners even with agrerssive adhesive and skirts
Sep 9, 2015 6:29 AM - NFOsec: well, that's a little different when you are influenced by bureacracy.
Sep 9, 2015 6:29 AM - daniel871: Or investigating whatever is flagged by their attempts at software search engines that flag things of interest.
Sep 9, 2015 6:30 AM - Bill Monroe: finally got decent threads at 230
Sep 9, 2015 6:30 AM - Bill Monroe: crap crap crap
    Sep 9, 2015 6:30 AM - bamhm182: Anyways, gotta go, I'll be back later
Sep 9, 2015 6:30 AM - NFOsec: there is always more than meets the eye though.
Sep 9, 2015 6:31 AM - daniel871: "Everyone in the US is obsessed with depraved internet pornography and what the color of their poop means, Mr. Director of Homeland Security"
Sep 9, 2015 6:31 AM - Bill Monroe: OMG,,, I just took a close look at the spool.. its ABS :)
Sep 9, 2015 6:31 AM - Bill Monroe: Harry, you got some 'splainin to do.... :)
Sep 9, 2015 6:31 AM - daniel871: Harry just sent me an email about the shipment of leadscrews that went out a week ago.
    Sep 9, 2015 6:32 AM - jbigler1986: you love ABS Bill
Sep 9, 2015 6:32 AM - daniel871: "Your replacement leadscrews are on the way on tracking number, please be sure to return the bent leadscrews when you get the new ones!"
    Sep 9, 2015 6:33 AM - jbigler1986: probably didn't send a return label. lol
    Sep 9, 2015 6:33 AM - daniel871: Probably not.
Sep 9, 2015 6:33 AM - daniel871: If not, they're going back USPS in the cheapest flat rate box they will fit in.
    Sep 9, 2015 6:34 AM - jbigler1986: I wouldn't pay for it at all
Sep 9, 2015 6:34 AM - jbigler1986: going to cost you around $10 at least
Sep 9, 2015 6:34 AM - Bill Monroe: I do, I'll keep it for my other machine..
Sep 9, 2015 6:34 AM - daniel871: Put them in the box with a big "return to sender" label.
    Sep 9, 2015 6:34 AM - daniel871: Probably doesn't work any more.
Sep 9, 2015 6:34 AM - Bill Monroe: nah.. didnt cost me anything, I'll keep it
    Sep 9, 2015 6:41 AM - JeffTheMess:
Sep 9, 2015 6:43 AM - NFOsec: Jeff: The problem I have with that and with many of the "tall" versions is what makes people thing that tall is the only dimension desired to expand on? :)
Sep 9, 2015 6:46 AM - JeffTheMess: you are right, but i think it might be one of the easier "upgrades" to do, so companies will say hey look at me i print taller buy me
    Sep 9, 2015 6:46 AM - JeffTheMess: [IMG]
Sep 9, 2015 6:46 AM - NFOsec: mm... just had a eureka moment, I could 3d print some custom interor exhaust duct work for the laser. not sure why I didn't think of that before. certain types of work demand certain smoke removals.
Sep 9, 2015 6:46 AM - JeffTheMess: my quad with just a robo
    Sep 9, 2015 6:46 AM - JeffTheMess: 20" tall
    Sep 9, 2015 6:47 AM - NFOsec: ah.
Sep 9, 2015 7:04 AM - NFOsec: Jeff: you were doing multi-part "fusing" there?
    Sep 9, 2015 7:07 AM - daniel871: Some people on a general 3d printing board I read are going ga-ga over these: http://www.ultibots.com/nema-17-damper-astrosyn-my17rmdamp/
    Sep 9, 2015 7:10 AM - Bill Monroe:
Sep 9, 2015 7:10 AM - NFOsec: daniel: for the Micron3DP I have, they use that approach for the fan to the hotend, and the big question is do motors really need to get that hot? :)
    Sep 9, 2015 7:10 AM - NFOsec: sorry, I meant quiet.
Sep 9, 2015 7:11 AM - NFOsec: I heard they make musical noises (or they could).
Sep 9, 2015 7:11 AM - NFOsec: ah, good ole bill back to the robbie pile.
Sep 9, 2015 7:12 AM - daniel871: Depends on how much noise they really make on the particular framework, I guess.
Sep 9, 2015 7:13 AM - daniel871: My extruder steppers are by far the loudest ones on the machine, but they're mounted on the outside of the Robo. Not sure if they are vibrating the actual cover or if they are just that loud.
Sep 9, 2015 7:13 AM - NFOsec: yeah. unfortunately I deal with the vibration level not the noise given my deafness. :)
Sep 9, 2015 7:13 AM - NFOsec: but, makes total sense.
Sep 9, 2015 7:13 AM - Kevin Nguyen: hey guys
Sep 9, 2015 7:13 AM - NFOsec: bill: I printed out an Oscar last night. LOL. in the new Hatchbox Glod color. was interesting.
Sep 9, 2015 7:14 AM - daniel871: Plus the hercustruders are just two bolts mounted to whatever framework, so I guess it makes sense that the thin plastic shell of the Robo's cover would vibrate.
    Sep 9, 2015 7:14 AM - NFOsec: hola Kevin.
Sep 9, 2015 7:14 AM - Kevin Nguyen: my new hot end is oozing out between the heaterblock and heatsink
Sep 9, 2015 7:14 AM - daniel871: Someone didn't tighten the heatbreak up tight enough.
Sep 9, 2015 7:14 AM - daniel871: That or the heatbreak has a crack in it.
Sep 9, 2015 7:14 AM - NFOsec: yeah. If you want to imagine power, those NEMA-23s on my desktop CNC table can rumble a house if not tuned.
Sep 9, 2015 7:14 AM - Kevin Nguyen: i want to say its cracked
    Sep 9, 2015 7:15 AM - Mike Kelly: morning
Sep 9, 2015 7:15 AM - NFOsec: morning it is Mr. K. good to you.
Sep 9, 2015 7:16 AM - NFOsec: bill: is that one of the 6-packs on Robbie's abs?
Sep 9, 2015 7:17 AM - NFOsec: <-- would like to see live streams how print settings similar to how photographs show EXIF information.
Sep 9, 2015 7:18 AM - Bill Monroe: i dunno.. it's part of the Chest but not sure which part
Sep 9, 2015 7:27 AM - Mike Glass: Good morning.
    Sep 9, 2015 7:27 AM - Bill Monroe: MG
    Sep 9, 2015 7:32 AM - NFOsec: CF - chest flab.
    Sep 9, 2015 7:32 AM - NFOsec: Morning Mr. G.

    Sep 9, 2015 7:38 AM - jbigler1986: worst software ever
Sep 9, 2015 7:38 AM - jbigler1986: if it wasn't packaged with MS they would be done
Sep 9, 2015 7:39 AM - Mike Kelly: did you guys read about my "incident" last night
Sep 9, 2015 7:39 AM - Mike Glass: He isnt a part of the company, hasnt for quite some time
Sep 9, 2015 7:40 AM - Mike Glass: you wet the bed?
Sep 9, 2015 7:40 AM - Mike Kelly: lol no
    Sep 9, 2015 7:40 AM - jbigler1986: just saying
Sep 9, 2015 7:40 AM - Mike Glass: oh incident not accident..my bad
    Sep 9, 2015 7:40 AM - jbigler1986: i missed it
Sep 9, 2015 7:40 AM - Mike Kelly: http://community.robo3d.com/index.php?threads/shoutbox-archive.4737/page-71#post-56336 starts at the end of this post
Sep 9, 2015 7:42 AM - Mike Glass: oh the owners group thing?
Sep 9, 2015 7:44 AM - Mike Kelly: this was just the 3d printing community on FB
Sep 9, 2015 7:44 AM - jbigler1986: i will never understand how people think being an asshole is going to make them feel better about themselves
Sep 9, 2015 7:44 AM - Mike Kelly: incredibly low self esteem
Sep 9, 2015 7:44 AM - jbigler1986: Also how is the IR sensor?
Sep 9, 2015 7:45 AM - Mike Kelly: IR sensor is installed and worked well
Sep 9, 2015 7:45 AM - Mike Kelly: i need to run a repeatibility test
    Sep 9, 2015 7:46 AM - jbigler1986: hmmm

    Sep 9, 2015 7:46 AM - daniel871: I wish I'd have seen that thread.
Sep 9, 2015 7:46 AM - Mike Kelly: lol the archive?
Sep 9, 2015 7:47 AM - daniel871: The FB owners group that I think we both read.
    Sep 9, 2015 7:47 AM - jbigler1986: i need that IR sensor
    Sep 9, 2015 7:47 AM - daniel871: generic 3d printer owners group
Sep 9, 2015 7:47 AM - daniel871: I'm curious how the optical sensor is going to work.
Sep 9, 2015 7:47 AM - jbigler1986: you should make yours way off level and see if it compensates
Sep 9, 2015 7:47 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah he deleted the thread after it became apparent he was the asshole
Sep 9, 2015 7:47 AM - Mike Glass: Daniel what PEI size did you get?
Sep 9, 2015 7:48 AM - daniel871: Hang on and I'll give you the link.
    Sep 9, 2015 7:48 AM - jbigler1986: that's why i hate facebook
    Sep 9, 2015 7:48 AM - daniel871: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0013HKZTA/ref=biss_dp_t_asn
    Sep 9, 2015 7:49 AM - daniel871: That PEI sheet.
Sep 9, 2015 7:49 AM - Mike Kelly: on the plus side though it did get me into contact with someone that either works for or sells the Gigabot
Sep 9, 2015 7:49 AM - Mike Glass: haha it went down from yesterday, I had it in my cart.
    Sep 9, 2015 7:49 AM - daniel871: http://community.robo3d.com/index.php?threads/pei-on-the-robo-heated-bed.6566/
    Sep 9, 2015 7:49 AM - daniel871: There's the thread where I posted about putting it together.
Sep 9, 2015 7:50 AM - Mike Glass: so same thickness, good, gonna order that and the 12x12 3m sheets
Sep 9, 2015 7:50 AM - daniel871: I just used a long strip of tape and put it down in sections, but some people spring for a full sheet of it.
