    Mar 1, 2016 at 7:15 PM - Schlomo: sorry, a little big
Mar 1, 2016 at 7:15 PM - Schlomo: or here

Mar 1, 2016 at 7:16 PM - Mike Kelly: best to add a h before the jpg, will shrink them to a more manageable size
Mar 1, 2016 at 7:16 PM - Schlomo: i think the ripples are because i used a single perimiter
Mar 1, 2016 at 7:16 PM - danzca6: what brand white is that
    Mar 1, 2016 at 7:16 PM - Schlomo: eSUN
Mar 1, 2016 at 7:17 PM - Schlomo: first time using it
Mar 1, 2016 at 7:17 PM - Schlomo: i have some prototype supply filament I could use instead
Mar 1, 2016 at 7:17 PM - Schlomo: but i dont think that would be the only issue, if it even is
Mar 1, 2016 at 7:18 PM - Schlomo: I killed it early, was designed to end at 325mm
    Mar 1, 2016 at 7:18 PM - Schlomo: ended up 270mm
Mar 1, 2016 at 7:18 PM - Schlomo: well thats when I ended it
Mar 1, 2016 at 7:18 PM - danzca6: yeah, I have hatchbox white pla and it comes out not so smooth either...I hear some say white can be hard to get clean prints
Mar 1, 2016 at 7:19 PM - danzca6: like you said, probably not the only issue if at all
Mar 1, 2016 at 7:19 PM - Schlomo: alot of the settings i have in my slicer are still from where my extruder was shitty
Mar 1, 2016 at 7:20 PM - Schlomo: like coasting and wipe, so with the bondtech i may not need any of that, but i also have a VERY long bowden tube
    Mar 1, 2016 at 7:20 PM - danzca6: you use s3d?
Mar 1, 2016 at 7:20 PM - Schlomo: lots of unknowns here in my world so
    Mar 1, 2016 at 7:20 PM - Schlomo: yeah
    Mar 1, 2016 at 7:20 PM - danzca6: I hear it has a lot of options
    Mar 1, 2016 at 7:20 PM - Schlomo: I really like it
Mar 1, 2016 at 7:21 PM - Schlomo: i wouldnt go back to a different slicer
Mar 1, 2016 at 7:21 PM - Schlomo: although cura was good while i used it
Mar 1, 2016 at 7:21 PM - Schlomo: i love the supports in s3d though
Mar 1, 2016 at 7:21 PM - Mike Kelly: right?
Mar 1, 2016 at 7:22 PM - danzca6: yeah, sounds like some calibration and tweaks are in the future, but you'll get it
    Mar 1, 2016 at 7:22 PM - Schlomo: yep
Mar 1, 2016 at 7:22 PM - Schlomo: gonna do WW's stabilizers first
Mar 1, 2016 at 7:22 PM - Schlomo: well, not stabilizers. Switch mounts
Mar 1, 2016 at 7:22 PM - Mike Kelly: that's a good place to start
Mar 1, 2016 at 7:22 PM - danzca6: I knew what you meant. Get things solid and then work on the softer tweaks
Mar 1, 2016 at 7:23 PM - Schlomo: the wripple just looks like from shrinking stress
Mar 1, 2016 at 7:23 PM - Schlomo: the chamber was only at 28c when i went down there
Mar 1, 2016 at 7:23 PM - Mike Kelly: hmm
Mar 1, 2016 at 7:23 PM - Schlomo: might need to find the cracks in my insulation and fill them, though its really cold and windy today too
Mar 1, 2016 at 7:24 PM - Mike Kelly: wonder how long it is till you just build a while new lid
    Mar 1, 2016 at 7:24 PM - Schlomo: lol
Mar 1, 2016 at 7:26 PM - Schlomo: no im done putting money into this printer
Mar 1, 2016 at 7:27 PM - Schlomo: now it needs to make me some money
Mar 1, 2016 at 7:33 PM - danzca6: "you've gotta spend money to make money" haha

Mar 1, 2016 8:43 PM - Mike Kelly: good luck with that
Mar 1, 2016 8:43 PM - Mike Kelly: i still haven't figured out how to make money off prints
Mar 1, 2016 8:46 PM - Schlomo: new parts printed and isntalled
    Mar 1, 2016 8:46 PM - Schlomo: time for a retest
Mar 1, 2016 8:46 PM - Schlomo: what would you suggest as the firmware settings for the bondtech?
    Mar 1, 2016 8:47 PM - Schlomo: for retraction
Mar 2, 2016 3:59 AM - danzca6: Funny, Robo has a map of where all their customers are on Facebook... I'm not on there... :( haha
Mar 2, 2016 4:13 AM - daniel871: Meanwhile, some porn site published the most searched terms on a map where the term is over the state and I don't think there are too many surprises. http://i.imgur.com/llYCygR.jpg
Mar 2, 2016 4:15 AM - AutopsyTurvy: There's something particularly heartwarming at seeing LESBIAN emblazoned over 2/3 of the US.
Mar 2, 2016 4:17 AM - daniel871: A little scary with the "step-mom" and "step-sister" stuff in other stuff though.
    Mar 2, 2016 4:18 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Yeaaaah.
Mar 2, 2016 4:18 AM - daniel871: LOL at the states searching for cartoons too.
Mar 2, 2016 4:19 AM - daniel871: Something something joke about Hawaiians having a thing for asians.
Mar 2, 2016 4:21 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Bah, the only big knitting needles I have are wood and too grippy. Let's see if I can print some that'll be slippery enough to use with acrylic yarn.
Mar 2, 2016 4:21 AM - AutopsyTurvy: .... and then I gotta see how quick I can knit a whole skirt of stringmail.... feck.
Mar 2, 2016 4:23 AM - daniel871: Printed this yesterday evening on the i3 clone. [IMG]
Mar 2, 2016 4:30 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Oooh very nice
Mar 2, 2016 4:50 AM - Bill Monroe: good morning
Mar 2, 2016 5:16 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Alright, after this big project, I'm making a fully printable knitting machine. Life is too short to knit loads of boring nonsense.
    Mar 2, 2016 5:27 AM - Bill Monroe: :)
Mar 2, 2016 5:46 AM - JeffTheMess: good morning roboneers
Mar 2, 2016 5:57 AM - Bill Monroe: Hey Jeff
    Mar 2, 2016 6:09 AM - Schlomo: morning gents
    Mar 2, 2016 6:10 AM - Bill Monroe: mo
    Mar 2, 2016 6:13 AM - AutopsyTurvy: *draws on a moustache, pretends to be a gent* :p
Mar 2, 2016 6:14 AM - Bill Monroe: the chain mail skirt sorta makes that unneccessary :)
Mar 2, 2016 6:16 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Ehh, it's for fantasy armor. Dudes would wear chain skirts too. Thigh protection, vry important.
    Mar 2, 2016 6:18 AM - Bill Monroe: [IMG]
Mar 2, 2016 6:20 AM - WheresWaldo: Morning BM, JTM, AT, Schlomo
    Mar 2, 2016 6:20 AM - Bill Monroe: Waldo
    Mar 2, 2016 6:20 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Allo
    Mar 2, 2016 6:21 AM - WheresWaldo: Bill don't you ever sleep? isn't it like 6:20A
Mar 2, 2016 6:21 AM - Bill Monroe: why yes, yes it is
    Mar 2, 2016 6:21 AM - Bill Monroe: and no, I never do :)
Mar 2, 2016 6:22 AM - WheresWaldo: I know from past responses AT should be about at the end of the school day
Mar 2, 2016 6:23 AM - WheresWaldo: Anyone working on anything interesting?
Mar 2, 2016 6:24 AM - Bill Monroe: setting up a linux-based control system at home.. building a machine to make colostomy bags at work
Mar 2, 2016 6:24 AM - Bill Monroe: so, no. not really :)
Mar 2, 2016 6:25 AM - daniel871: Wait, the bags aren't made the same way any other plastic bag is made?
Mar 2, 2016 6:25 AM - WheresWaldo: I'm saturating my SATA bus copying files to a new drive, so even less exciting than your day.
Mar 2, 2016 6:25 AM - Bill Monroe: oh heck no.. this is the medical device biz..
Mar 2, 2016 6:26 AM - daniel871: I'm spending my day waiting on information to re-draw/design stuff that was originally going to be manufactured at our Sweden facility that has been moved to Atlanta for some reason.
Mar 2, 2016 6:27 AM - Bill Monroe: re-pariotization of manufacturing is a good thing
Mar 2, 2016 6:27 AM - daniel871: Gist of it that I've been able to find out is basically "they don't want to do it, so you are".
Mar 2, 2016 6:27 AM - Bill Monroe: Swedes are lazy
Mar 2, 2016 6:27 AM - WheresWaldo: Don't you just love when a plan comes together.
Mar 2, 2016 6:29 AM - WheresWaldo: Bill is that a result of their 30 hour work week?
    Mar 2, 2016 6:29 AM - daniel871: They work 40 hours at the facility I went to.
Mar 2, 2016 6:29 AM - Bill Monroe: and their 4 week holidays
Mar 2, 2016 6:30 AM - Bill Monroe: I had a swede for a room mate in college.. she was the laziest person i've ever know..
Mar 2, 2016 6:30 AM - Bill Monroe: but she was uber-hawt so it was OK :)
Mar 2, 2016 6:30 AM - daniel871: Well yeah, but the women are different over there compared to over here too.
Mar 2, 2016 6:31 AM - daniel871: They've got a better system in place for bringing in manufacturing help when needed than we do though.
    Mar 2, 2016 6:32 AM - Bill Monroe: whoa.. it's payday already
Mar 2, 2016 6:34 AM - daniel871: I like the logic that if a company has so much work needing to be done that a given employee has to work near 80-hours to do the job the company should hire another person and split the hours.
Mar 2, 2016 6:35 AM - Bill Monroe: you must be swedish :)
    Mar 2, 2016 6:36 AM - daniel871: Nope.
    Mar 2, 2016 6:36 AM - daniel871: Born/raised/live in the Deep Southern US.
Mar 2, 2016 6:37 AM - daniel871: Land of the Right to Get Fired if you don't literally sell your soul for company profits.
Mar 2, 2016 6:38 AM - daniel871: Where the managers actually tell you that they intentionally keep employees angry because they think people work harder when they're pissed off.
Mar 2, 2016 6:39 AM - WheresWaldo: And the land where Southern Hospitality only extends to other Southerners.
Mar 2, 2016 6:39 AM - Bill Monroe: well, i'm sure you also have the right to quit
    Mar 2, 2016 6:39 AM - daniel871: White Male southerners, Waldo.
    Mar 2, 2016 6:39 AM - WheresWaldo: lol
    Mar 2, 2016 6:39 AM - daniel871: Also, nominally Protestant.
Mar 2, 2016 6:40 AM - WheresWaldo: Someone much smarter than I born and raised in Asheville NC told me about hospitality
Mar 2, 2016 6:41 AM - daniel871: Southern Hospitality any more means shooting someone in the face if they knock on your door asking you to call 911 because of a wreck they just climbed out of.
Mar 2, 2016 6:42 AM - WheresWaldo: I can usually get by, since my legal name is Bud and Southerners love Bud, Buddy, etc. Even though I was born and raised in NYC. I learned to articulate properly so most people who try to guess say I might be from the midwest. So I don't suffer as badly as some northerners
Mar 2, 2016 6:43 AM - daniel871: Also, making someone a nominee winner on the Republican Party after they get a literal public vote of support from the KKK.
Mar 2, 2016 6:43 AM - AutopsyTurvy: It's impossible to parody US politics anymore. Just have to stand on the sidelines cringing and trying not to be sick to your stomach.
Mar 2, 2016 6:44 AM - daniel871: Imagine how someone that actually has to live here feels about it.
    Mar 2, 2016 6:44 AM - JeffTheMess: trump is great -_-
Mar 2, 2016 6:44 AM - WheresWaldo: We already voted an actor as president in the 70's why is today any different.
Mar 2, 2016 6:44 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Yeah, I'm from there and fukken terrified of how things're going over there. Eesh.
    Mar 2, 2016 6:44 AM - daniel871: You mean the early 80's?
    Mar 2, 2016 6:44 AM - WheresWaldo: yes, 80's
Mar 2, 2016 6:45 AM - Bill Monroe: actually, he was a former actor..
Mar 2, 2016 6:45 AM - JeffTheMess: how many times did old trump boy get an audit and filed for bankruptcy?
Mar 2, 2016 6:45 AM - Bill Monroe: he had great political chops and a lot more expereince than the Donald
Mar 2, 2016 6:45 AM - daniel871: Also, he was probably one of the worst presidents we've had. It's almost funny how modern Republicans like to ignore how Reagan was pro gun control and other things they claim are anathema now.
Mar 2, 2016 6:46 AM - AutopsyTurvy: and i'd still welcome someone with his politics in place of trump.
Mar 2, 2016 6:46 AM - Bill Monroe: getting an audit isnt bad.. finding bad things is, and bad things were not found so.. that's just more liberal propganda
Mar 2, 2016 6:46 AM - AutopsyTurvy: I mean, I don't agree with it, but at least it's not -entirely- racist sexist xenophobic "hey let's commit some warcrimes, that sounds like fun!" nonsense.
Mar 2, 2016 6:46 AM - WheresWaldo: Not here to debate Reagan's legacy, just pointing out that the US electorate sometimes moves away from professional politicians
Mar 2, 2016 6:47 AM - Bill Monroe: that's the point.. he was a professional politician with a record of success
Mar 2, 2016 6:47 AM - Bill Monroe: who happened to have been an actor at one time
    Mar 2, 2016 6:48 AM - WheresWaldo: He wasn't a bad actor
Mar 2, 2016 6:48 AM - Bill Monroe: for his time, he was quite good
    Mar 2, 2016 6:48 AM - WheresWaldo: agreed
Mar 2, 2016 6:49 AM - Bill Monroe: did a lot of PSAs..
Mar 2, 2016 6:50 AM - Bill Monroe: and now, I must go make machines to make bags...
    Mar 2, 2016 6:50 AM - WheresWaldo: Have fun
Mar 2, 2016 6:51 AM - Bill Monroe: take care
    Mar 2, 2016 6:51 AM - JeffTheMess: [IMG]
    Mar 2, 2016 6:51 AM - JeffTheMess: enjoy bill
Mar 2, 2016 6:51 AM - WheresWaldo: Ugh, all this typing has slowed my drive copy to a crawl.
Mar 2, 2016 6:51 AM - daniel871: I like how you could see the moment Chris Christie's soul died at Trumps victory speech.
    Mar 2, 2016 6:51 AM - daniel871: [IMG]
Mar 2, 2016 6:52 AM - Schlomo: WW just FYI, you rid my Robo of backlash thanks to your z axis coupler things for the lead screws
    Mar 2, 2016 6:52 AM - Schlomo: thanks :)

Mar 2, 2016 6:53 AM - Schlomo: Finished my RoboBeast mod
    Mar 2, 2016 6:53 AM - daniel871: Pics and/or timelapse of a print or it didn't happen.
Mar 2, 2016 6:53 AM - WheresWaldo: Cool. I only did that upgrade because I didn't want to spend $100 on the Robo one.
Mar 2, 2016 6:54 AM - Schlomo: hold on, Dan
Mar 2, 2016 6:54 AM - Schlomo: you needy man.
    Mar 2, 2016 6:55 AM - Schlomo:
Mar 2, 2016 6:55 AM - WheresWaldo: That one and switching to the self-aligning bronze bushings has made my Robo very quiet and eliminated nearly all artifacts.
    Mar 2, 2016 6:56 AM - daniel871: Random camera swings, lol.
Mar 2, 2016 6:57 AM - WheresWaldo: For your beast it was probably the most economic way to extend Z
    Mar 2, 2016 6:57 AM - daniel871: Nice insulation and tarp pile.
    Mar 2, 2016 6:57 AM - daniel871: :p
Mar 2, 2016 6:58 AM - daniel871: Are those still flex couplings or rigid couplings?
Mar 2, 2016 6:58 AM - WheresWaldo: Schlomo are you using 1.1.0 or still on Robo's firmware?
Mar 2, 2016 6:59 AM - WheresWaldo: They look like solid aluminum couplings
Mar 2, 2016 7:01 AM - Schlomo: They're flex... What came with my rods. I've got some ridgid ones on order
    Mar 2, 2016 7:01 AM - daniel871: Mmm.
Mar 2, 2016 7:01 AM - WheresWaldo: You will still see some improvements once you swap those flex couplings out for solid ones.
Mar 2, 2016 7:02 AM - AutopsyTurvy: .... meanwhile I'm still using the stock Kickstarter Robo (except for an old e3d) with the drawer rails and wooden under-bed. :p
    Mar 2, 2016 7:03 AM - daniel871: $5 says my $350 Monoprice i3 clone does a better job than your kickstarter robo, AT. :p
    Mar 2, 2016 7:03 AM - Schlomo: I'm using 1.1.0 WW
Mar 2, 2016 7:03 AM - daniel871: Once I get around to opening my Robo up to fix the power supply, I'll be running RC3 with mesh leveling.
Mar 2, 2016 7:05 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Idk man my Robo's pretty magical with fine detail.
    Mar 2, 2016 7:05 AM - AutopsyTurvy: https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd....69_10152106487416244_266653736991460066_o.jpg
Mar 2, 2016 7:05 AM - WheresWaldo: I'm going to open mine up once Alirubber delivers my new bed heater.
    Mar 2, 2016 7:05 AM - AutopsyTurvy: http://imgur.com/q6YvTMs.jpg
Mar 2, 2016 7:06 AM - WheresWaldo: AT just a couple of upgrades and it will be orgasmic not just magical!!!!
Mar 2, 2016 7:07 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Also does bigger stuff pretty well: http://36.media.tumblr.com/a231267e608b2dcab3168711ddd574c5/tumblr_o2lajcVKFE1udnxozo2_1280.jpg
Mar 2, 2016 7:07 AM - AutopsyTurvy: I ain't upgrading a damn thing till it breaks (except a new hotend). It works fine now, I ain't messing with it.
Mar 2, 2016 7:07 AM - WheresWaldo: You appear to have it tuned very well.
Mar 2, 2016 7:08 AM - daniel871: I'm pretty sure quality control from Robo took a huge nosedive since you got your kickstarter version, then.
Mar 2, 2016 7:08 AM - AutopsyTurvy: You'd think so. You'd be wrong. :D My bed is so bowed I have to twiddle the threaded rods every time to get the z height right. :D
Mar 2, 2016 7:08 AM - AutopsyTurvy: It's such a mess, covered in hair spray and cat hair, and yet... still spits out excellent prints.
Mar 2, 2016 7:08 AM - Schlomo: I think the sentence "Twiddle the threaded rods" could be taken out of context
Mar 2, 2016 7:09 AM - daniel871: The Robo I'm talking about is the one they gave out in a contest where everyone with an R1 sent in parts for that CES thing. It was basically DOA.
Mar 2, 2016 7:09 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Considering my first big project was making knitting needle holders shaped like dicks, it's probably just the right context.
    Mar 2, 2016 7:09 AM - Schlomo: haha
Mar 2, 2016 7:09 AM - daniel871: You mean there are knitting needle holders that *aren't* shaped like dicks?
Mar 2, 2016 7:10 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Most of them don't have wrinkly balls and veins, so... yes.
Mar 2, 2016 7:11 AM - Schlomo: why do balls always gotta be wrinkly
    Mar 2, 2016 7:11 AM - Schlomo: thats discrimination
Mar 2, 2016 7:11 AM - daniel871: Don't confuse the sack with the actual contents.
Mar 2, 2016 7:12 AM - WheresWaldo: Schlo some are Salty
Mar 2, 2016 7:12 AM - daniel871: If the actual balls are wrinkly, you may need to see a doctor.
Mar 2, 2016 7:12 AM - AutopsyTurvy: You could try ironing yours if it bothers you, m8.
    Mar 2, 2016 7:12 AM - Schlomo: lawl
    Mar 2, 2016 7:12 AM - JeffTheMess: rude boys
Mar 2, 2016 7:12 AM - Schlomo: Na, my wife hasn't complained yet
    Mar 2, 2016 7:12 AM - daniel871: Yet.
    Mar 2, 2016 7:16 AM - WheresWaldo: I am sad now, ME:Andromeda not releasing until Q1 2017
Mar 2, 2016 7:17 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Gives me more time to play the first 3.
Mar 2, 2016 7:17 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Considering all of the upsets Bioware's had lately with employment, it's not surprising.
Mar 2, 2016 7:21 AM - WheresWaldo: You will love the first and third ME, the second's interface was just a bit clunky
Mar 2, 2016 7:21 AM - WheresWaldo: But the story is compelling in all three.
Mar 2, 2016 7:22 AM - AutopsyTurvy: I'm mostly into Bioware-type games for the stories and characters, so I'm not too fussed if it's a little clunky.
Mar 2, 2016 7:22 AM - AutopsyTurvy: I understand from the tumblrs and the memes that the mako launching itself into the sun is completely normal so
Mar 2, 2016 7:23 AM - WheresWaldo: What you will learn to hate is mining planets, it is more tedious than building settlements in FO4
Mar 2, 2016 7:24 AM - AutopsyTurvy: More tedious than mining a whole mountain down by hand in Minecraft?
    Mar 2, 2016 7:25 AM - WheresWaldo: I don't play Mindcraft, just no interest.
Mar 2, 2016 7:25 AM - AutopsyTurvy: It's surprisingly interesting, though it's mainly my 7 year old who plays it these days.
Mar 2, 2016 7:26 AM - WheresWaldo: I can't sneak around with a sniper rifle or sit in a perch and headshot every passer by.
Mar 2, 2016 7:26 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Probably can with mods, but yeah, it's not really big on action.
    Mar 2, 2016 7:26 AM - WheresWaldo: My 24 y.o. daughter loves it
Mar 2, 2016 7:27 AM - WheresWaldo: She plays on both the PC and XBone
Mar 2, 2016 7:27 AM - AutopsyTurvy: My husband set up a thing so he can play with our son. I've dropped in now and then but I usually get as far as building a horse ranch and then give up.
Mar 2, 2016 7:28 AM - WheresWaldo: We play the older Halo games on a local lan, usually I end up losing because I run out of ammo.
Mar 2, 2016 7:29 AM - AutopsyTurvy: I can't get into anything more shootery than like, fallout.
Mar 2, 2016 7:29 AM - WheresWaldo: My family just laughs because they tell me I am always out of ammo.
Mar 2, 2016 7:30 AM - WheresWaldo: I used to be a big Quake, and Unreal Tournament player. But now it's stuff like Deus Ex, FO, Bioshock
Mar 2, 2016 7:30 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Most of what I've played is the sims series, though tbh I've probably only spent maaaaybe 100 hours total -playing- those. Most of it was modding.
Mar 2, 2016 7:32 AM - WheresWaldo: I tried SimCity, just not that appealing. Right now I just finished FarCry 4 for the 5th playthrough and am starting my 4th playthrough of FO4
Mar 2, 2016 7:32 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Should try playing ARK: Survival Evolved again. I miss having an army of poison-spitting dinosaur friends.
Mar 2, 2016 7:33 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Also really want to try the new Far Cry. Haven't really been into the series but I like the theme of the new one.
Mar 2, 2016 7:33 AM - WheresWaldo: I have Rise of the Tomb Raider sitting on my desk, but haven't even loaded it up yet.
Mar 2, 2016 7:33 AM - WheresWaldo: My wife has played most of the way through Primal, she likes it.
Mar 2, 2016 7:33 AM - AutopsyTurvy: That's the newest one, yeah? I think I played the one before that.
    Mar 2, 2016 7:34 AM - AutopsyTurvy: (Tomb Raider, I mean)
Mar 2, 2016 7:34 AM - WheresWaldo: I played the reboot TR, Rise is the newest one, yes.
Mar 2, 2016 7:36 AM - WheresWaldo: She plays by wandering around all over, it is hard to watch her play, but I got her hooked on PC games with Myst, she likes solving puzzles.
Mar 2, 2016 7:37 AM - WheresWaldo: But for some reason she also like to play things like GoW and Castle Wolfenstein, don't know where she pick up that.
Mar 2, 2016 7:38 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Heh, nothing wrong with those. :)
Mar 2, 2016 7:39 AM - AutopsyTurvy: I'll just sit over in my little corner drawing filthy fanart till the next Dragon Age comes out. :p
Mar 2, 2016 7:39 AM - WheresWaldo: I think her perfect game would be solve a puzzle shoot some creatures then solve another puzzle, etc. or puzzle, search for stuff, more puzzles.
Mar 2, 2016 7:40 AM - WheresWaldo: The fantasy settings have less appeal for me, never played Skyrim, Witcher, Dragon Age or any of that genre.
Mar 2, 2016 7:40 AM - AutopsyTurvy: She should try Transistor. It's pretty cheap on Steam, gorgeous aesthetic, and is puzzle-based combat.
Mar 2, 2016 7:41 AM - WheresWaldo: I'll suggest it to her, thanks.
Mar 2, 2016 7:42 AM - AutopsyTurvy: I like Elder Scrolls and Dragon Age mostly because of the LORE. Like, I have a book big enough to bludgeon someone to death with, just with Dragon Age backstory.
Mar 2, 2016 7:42 AM - WheresWaldo: I think she has expressed interest in the little yarn one, can't recall the name.
    Mar 2, 2016 7:42 AM - daniel871: Little Big Planet?
Mar 2, 2016 7:42 AM - AutopsyTurvy: And have spent actual days just reading books in Skyrim and Morrowind.
    Mar 2, 2016 7:42 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Unravel
    Mar 2, 2016 7:42 AM - WheresWaldo: Unravel, that's it.
Mar 2, 2016 7:42 AM - daniel871: You could always start some Binding of Isaac runs.
Mar 2, 2016 7:43 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Been meaning to play that one too, ever since the impossibly adorable E3 presentation.
Mar 2, 2016 7:44 AM - WheresWaldo: She is mostly a console player, she is tech challenged.
Mar 2, 2016 7:44 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Blech. I only play on console if I have no other option.
Mar 2, 2016 7:44 AM - AutopsyTurvy: (Though I do have a usb xbox controller for my PC, because FO4's control scheme with the keyboard is ASS.)
    Mar 2, 2016 7:44 AM - daniel871: http://thepunchlineismachismo.com/archives/comic/02222010
Mar 2, 2016 7:45 AM - daniel871: Have you played any of the Metal Gear games, AT?
Mar 2, 2016 7:46 AM - WheresWaldo: I can go back and forth, I have no animosity for consoles. After all I have owned and played on Atari 2600, Atari 5200, Colecovision, Mattel's Intellivision, Sega Genesis (still working), Wii, PS1, PS3, XB360 and now the XBone
Mar 2, 2016 7:46 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Naw, I think I've watched my husband play one of 'em. I heard good things about the most recent one I think?

Mar 2, 2016 7:47 AM - AutopsyTurvy: I don't mind consoles most of the time but I've been modding games since I was a tiny nerd. I need to be able to get in and rip the guts out and reconfigure it to my taste. :D
    Mar 2, 2016 7:48 AM - JeffTheMess: so your a Neo
Mar 2, 2016 7:48 AM - WheresWaldo: I use mods on PC games, but I started PC gaming on an Atari 800 before modding was even considered.
Mar 2, 2016 7:50 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Though apparently FO4 will have mods for consoles and they're just supposed to magically work across everything. Somehow. Will probably be horribly broken.
Mar 2, 2016 7:50 AM - WheresWaldo: Loved Rescue on Fractilus and One on One Basketball when it was still Dr J v. Larry Bird
Mar 2, 2016 7:51 AM - WheresWaldo: We won't see any mods until the GECK is released on FO4 Console
Mar 2, 2016 7:51 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Yeah, I know. It's PC only using some sort of witchcraft right now.
Mar 2, 2016 7:52 AM - WheresWaldo: I am just wondering how MS and Bethesda are going to handle all the NSFW mods out there already.
Mar 2, 2016 7:53 AM - JeffTheMess: (Bethesda counts on mods to do the good work)
Mar 2, 2016 7:56 AM - WheresWaldo: I figured Console mods are going to be okay, I currently play with 72 different mods loaded, but I can actually play though and enjoy the experience with just a few mods. I am hoping NovaCoru updates Homemaker to work on consoles and Someone does a Spring Cleaning type of mod.
Mar 2, 2016 7:57 AM - WheresWaldo: That and a way to expand settlements and I can leave all the rest behind.
Mar 2, 2016 7:58 AM - WheresWaldo: Once they can rebuild Pre-War Sanctuary Hills and have proper navmeshing I can be very happy.
Mar 2, 2016 8:15 AM - AutopsyTurvy: I just need a mod that lets me romance Nick. Bonus points if you can transfer him to a Gen3 like you can with Curie, but I'm not that picky.
    Mar 2, 2016 8:19 AM - Schlomo: Made a vase
    Mar 2, 2016 8:19 AM - Schlomo:
    Mar 2, 2016 8:19 AM - Schlomo: 300mm tall
    Mar 2, 2016 8:19 AM - Schlomo: 3 hours to print
Mar 2, 2016 8:21 AM - danzca6: did you knock out the ribbing?
    Mar 2, 2016 8:22 AM - Schlomo: pyeah
    Mar 2, 2016 8:22 AM - danzca6: awesome
Mar 2, 2016 8:22 AM - Schlomo: just need to get my extrusion figured out
Mar 2, 2016 8:29 AM - daniel871: Huh. So I just saw a post where someone is using one of these as their enclosure for their printer. http://www.amazon.com/Greenhouse-Pr...rdening+Plants+Pot+Flower+Shelter+20"x20"x20"
Mar 2, 2016 8:30 AM - daniel871: For the i3 clone, it probably isn't quite big enough for the Robo.
Mar 2, 2016 8:46 AM - danzca6: you would have your control box with the electonics on the outside of this thing right?
    Mar 2, 2016 8:46 AM - daniel871: Yeah.
Mar 2, 2016 8:47 AM - danzca6: good. then just need to make sure the steppers don't get too hot
Mar 2, 2016 8:47 AM - daniel871: It basically serves the same function MK's enclosure does for the Robo--block most drafts from getting to the print area.
    Mar 2, 2016 8:48 AM - danzca6: yeah, should work and only $20 isn't too bad
Mar 2, 2016 8:49 AM - danzca6: I saw a member here used foam board, white duct tape, and some clear plastic for $12 and made an enclosure for his R1
    Mar 2, 2016 8:49 AM - danzca6: looks pretty good
    Mar 2, 2016 8:50 AM - danzca6: http://community.robo3d.com/index.php?threads/mike-kellys-robo3d-enclosure.2712/page-6#post-68955
    Mar 2, 2016 8:54 AM - JeffTheMess: clever
    Mar 2, 2016 8:58 AM - Mike Kelly: welp
Mar 2, 2016 8:58 AM - Mike Kelly: that's how i wanted to design the enclosure
Mar 2, 2016 8:59 AM - Mike Kelly: but you'd have rough edges since you can't cut at a 45 degree angle
    Mar 2, 2016 8:59 AM - JeffTheMess: feeling jealous
    Mar 2, 2016 8:59 AM - Schlomo: i need some help
    Mar 2, 2016 8:59 AM - Schlomo: i have pictures
    Mar 2, 2016 9:00 AM - Schlomo: http://imgur.com/a/ph2Im
    Mar 2, 2016 9:01 AM - Schlomo: Vase mode
    Mar 2, 2016 9:01 AM - Schlomo: oh wait
    Mar 2, 2016 9:01 AM - Schlomo: i think i set my extrusion width to 0.5mm... on 0.8mm nozzle..
Mar 2, 2016 9:01 AM - Schlomo: that could be why the wall sucks
    Mar 2, 2016 9:02 AM - Mike Kelly: lol
    Mar 2, 2016 9:02 AM - Mike Kelly: i was gonna say
Mar 2, 2016 9:02 AM - Mike Kelly: under extrusion, probably software
Mar 2, 2016 9:03 AM - Schlomo: soo much for beers and 1am print starting
    Mar 2, 2016 9:03 AM - Schlomo: checked gcode
    Mar 2, 2016 9:03 AM - Schlomo: yep 0.5mm width
Mar 2, 2016 9:03 AM - Schlomo: still having some bad retraction problems though
    Mar 2, 2016 9:03 AM - daniel871: I've just been leaving extrusion width on Auto in S3D.
    Mar 2, 2016 9:07 AM - Schlomo: yeah
Mar 2, 2016 9:07 AM - Schlomo: here is another print
    Mar 2, 2016 9:07 AM - Schlomo: http://imgur.com/a/fHkbh
Mar 2, 2016 9:07 AM - Schlomo: most of the ribbing is gone
Mar 2, 2016 9:07 AM - Schlomo: but my extrusion/retraction settings are way off
Mar 2, 2016 9:08 AM - Schlomo: What retraction speed do you use, MK?
    Mar 2, 2016 9:09 AM - daniel871: I'm having a little underextrusion as well that I need to fine-tune, I think. http://i.imgur.com/jOZ5mKF.jpg
Mar 2, 2016 9:09 AM - Schlomo: wow im honestly surprised i even was able to print that vase
Mar 2, 2016 9:10 AM - daniel871: That or the PID settings need to be fine-tuned, or something. The little i3 clone has a pretty wild 10-degree swing on temperatures.
Mar 2, 2016 9:10 AM - Schlomo: 0.4mm layer height with 0.5mm layer width LOL! on an 0.8mmm nozzle
Mar 2, 2016 9:10 AM - Schlomo: already tuned PID
    Mar 2, 2016 9:10 AM - daniel871: I'm talking about my one working printer, not yours. :p
    Mar 2, 2016 9:10 AM - Schlomo: oh haha
Mar 2, 2016 9:11 AM - Schlomo: we only talk about me on here
    Mar 2, 2016 9:11 AM - Mike Kelly: 40/4
    Mar 2, 2016 9:11 AM - Schlomo: 40/4?
    Mar 2, 2016 9:11 AM - Schlomo: 10?
    Mar 2, 2016 9:11 AM - daniel871: Ezekiel 40:4?
    Mar 2, 2016 9:12 AM - daniel871: That actually kind of works.

Mar 2, 2016 9:13 AM - Schlomo: you gotta purdy mouth
    Mar 2, 2016 9:13 AM - Mike Kelly: 40mm/s and 4mm
Mar 2, 2016 9:13 AM - Schlomo: how fast can you print with that?
Mar 2, 2016 9:14 AM - Mike Kelly: i think that's for his cnc cutter
Mar 2, 2016 9:14 AM - Schlomo: what do you think could be wrong here, mk?
    Mar 2, 2016 9:14 AM - Schlomo: http://imgur.com/a/fHkbh
Mar 2, 2016 9:14 AM - Schlomo: i dont think its under extruding, but i've got gaps
    Mar 2, 2016 9:15 AM - Schlomo: and blobs
Mar 2, 2016 9:16 AM - Mike Kelly: got cleaning filament?
    Mar 2, 2016 9:16 AM - Schlomo: no
Mar 2, 2016 9:17 AM - daniel871: I was thinking maybe the ABS is contracting/separating as it cools.
Mar 2, 2016 9:18 AM - daniel871: Had that problem with T-glase in my early trial runs of it where I was printing too fast and not giving the layers enough time to bond.
    Mar 2, 2016 9:18 AM - daniel871: For the vase-mode pics from before.
Mar 2, 2016 9:20 AM - Schlomo: yeah, the vase is 100% because i set my extrusion width to 0.5mm for a 0.8mm nozzle, stupid me
Mar 2, 2016 9:20 AM - Schlomo: the block had all the setting right and wasn't printed in vase mode
Mar 2, 2016 9:20 AM - daniel871: I wonder how well the cleaning filament would turn out in an actual print of something.
    Mar 2, 2016 9:20 AM - daniel871: It's basically nylon, right?
    Mar 2, 2016 9:21 AM - Mike Kelly: basically
Mar 2, 2016 9:21 AM - Mike Kelly: you could try reducing your retraction
    Mar 2, 2016 9:21 AM - Mike Kelly: like 2mm
Mar 2, 2016 9:21 AM - Mike Kelly: that's pretty low for bowden though
Mar 2, 2016 9:21 AM - Mike Kelly: what E steps are you using
    Mar 2, 2016 9:21 AM - Schlomo: well its at 10mm
Mar 2, 2016 9:21 AM - Schlomo: and my bowden is super long
Mar 2, 2016 9:21 AM - Mike Kelly: how long?
    Mar 2, 2016 9:21 AM - Mike Kelly: like 2m?
    Mar 2, 2016 9:22 AM - Schlomo: probably 400-450mm
    Mar 2, 2016 9:22 AM - Schlomo: i'd have to go measure

Mar 2, 2016 9:22 AM - daniel871: At least 17"+ whatever it takes to get to the motor.
Mar 2, 2016 9:22 AM - Schlomo: yeah i was off, Dan is more accurate
Mar 2, 2016 9:22 AM - Mike Kelly: is it at an angle
    Mar 2, 2016 9:22 AM - Mike Kelly: err
    Mar 2, 2016 9:22 AM - Mike Kelly: i saw it
Mar 2, 2016 9:22 AM - Schlomo: same mounting point as my herc
    Mar 2, 2016 9:22 AM - Mike Kelly: hmm
Mar 2, 2016 9:23 AM - Schlomo: even have the little clips to keep the bowden tube from moving during retraction
    Mar 2, 2016 9:23 AM - Mike Kelly: righ
Mar 2, 2016 9:23 AM - daniel871: I can't imagine how much trouble your bowden will have feeding, I couldn't get the bondtech to run properly for very long on the original Robo setup, much less an additional 7" of tube.
Mar 2, 2016 9:23 AM - Mike Kelly: have you tried adding a tiny bit of cooking oil into your bowden tube
    Mar 2, 2016 9:23 AM - Schlomo: I haven't
    Mar 2, 2016 9:24 AM - daniel871: Canola to be specific.
Mar 2, 2016 9:24 AM - Schlomo: the bondtech seems to be feeding very well
Mar 2, 2016 9:24 AM - Mike Kelly: that makes it move a bit smoother
Mar 2, 2016 9:24 AM - Schlomo: and its brand new ptfe tubing
Mar 2, 2016 9:24 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm thinking it's more an elasticity problem in the bowden
Mar 2, 2016 9:24 AM - Mike Kelly: hystertesis and whathave you
Mar 2, 2016 9:24 AM - Mike Kelly: it's hard to say from one print
Mar 2, 2016 9:24 AM - Schlomo: what about Jerk and Acceleration for your extruder?
Mar 2, 2016 9:25 AM - daniel871: Bondtech may be pulling 10mm, but the compression/expansion may not actually be 10mm at the carriage.
Mar 2, 2016 9:25 AM - Mike Kelly: what was the answer to your esteps
Mar 2, 2016 9:25 AM - Schlomo: Right, dan. Thats why i did 10. I also figured with the longer volcano hotend it would compensate
    Mar 2, 2016 9:25 AM - Schlomo: 490
Mar 2, 2016 9:25 AM - Schlomo: what bondtech says to do
    Mar 2, 2016 9:26 AM - Mike Kelly: always calibrate ;)
Mar 2, 2016 9:26 AM - Schlomo: yeah ran out of time last night
    Mar 2, 2016 9:26 AM - Schlomo: i'll go verify
Mar 2, 2016 9:26 AM - daniel871: Just make sure you don't retract enough to pull melted filament back into the tube.
    Mar 2, 2016 9:26 AM - Mike Kelly: i use 475
Mar 2, 2016 9:27 AM - Mike Kelly: i should probably double check those numbers
Mar 2, 2016 9:27 AM - Mike Kelly: i just pull out the bowden tube
    Mar 2, 2016 9:27 AM - Schlomo: me too
Mar 2, 2016 9:30 AM - Mike Kelly: i wonder if anyone has made a solidworks script yet that saves all your configurations as unique STL
Mar 2, 2016 9:31 AM - Mike Kelly: looks like task scheduler maybe?
Mar 2, 2016 9:31 AM - Mike Kelly: though i dunno if thats files or configurations
    Mar 2, 2016 9:34 AM - Schlomo: so it was 103mm
    Mar 2, 2016 9:35 AM - Schlomo: 475 is my new value
    Mar 2, 2016 9:36 AM - Mike Kelly: ;)
    Mar 2, 2016 9:37 AM - Schlomo: gonna print a calibration cube
    Mar 2, 2016 9:37 AM - Schlomo: 20mm
Mar 2, 2016 9:50 AM - Schlomo: this thing just pumps out plastic
Mar 2, 2016 10:02 AM - Schlomo: well thats shit
    Mar 2, 2016 10:04 AM - Schlomo: [IMG]
Mar 2, 2016 10:07 AM - danzca6: kind of an artistic rendition of the 20mm cal cube
    Mar 2, 2016 10:08 AM - Schlomo: robo picaso
    Mar 2, 2016 10:08 AM - danzca6: exactly
    Mar 2, 2016 10:08 AM - danzca6: starting a trend
Mar 2, 2016 10:09 AM - JeffTheMess: what size nozzle is that?
    Mar 2, 2016 10:09 AM - Schlomo: 0.8
Mar 2, 2016 10:09 AM - toymaker: how straight are your vertical linear motion components?
    Mar 2, 2016 10:11 AM - Schlomo: very
Mar 2, 2016 10:11 AM - Schlomo: there is really no flex in themm
Mar 2, 2016 10:11 AM - Schlomo: and everything is supported well
    Mar 2, 2016 10:12 AM - danzca6: square?
    Mar 2, 2016 10:12 AM - Schlomo: yes
Mar 2, 2016 10:12 AM - Schlomo: i really thing this is mainly due to retraction
Mar 2, 2016 10:12 AM - Schlomo: the volcano just pumps out so mmuch plastic, that in combination wwith a 17" bowden tube
Mar 2, 2016 10:13 AM - toymaker: i printed with .6 volcano and looked pretty decent
    Mar 2, 2016 10:13 AM - danzca6: and the bondtech
Mar 2, 2016 10:13 AM - toymaker: using about the same length tube and bondtech
    Mar 2, 2016 10:14 AM - Schlomo: ef
    Mar 2, 2016 10:14 AM - Schlomo: wtf
Mar 2, 2016 10:14 AM - Schlomo: what are your firmware settings for retraction? Accel/jerk?
    Mar 2, 2016 10:14 AM - Schlomo: and whats your retraction speed/distance?
Mar 2, 2016 10:15 AM - toymaker: eeshhh i switched back to the reg 3d6, i dont think i changed to much
    Mar 2, 2016 10:15 AM - Schlomo: estimate?
Mar 2, 2016 10:15 AM - Schlomo: im grasping at straws now
    Mar 2, 2016 10:15 AM - toymaker: one sec
    Mar 2, 2016 10:17 AM - toymaker: right now for my ed6 i have 4mm retract, .2mm z, 40mm spped
Mar 2, 2016 10:18 AM - toymaker: my volcano setting where about the same i think the retraction might have been 3
    Mar 2, 2016 10:18 AM - Schlomo: i have 6mm retract, 0.1mm lift, 40mm speed
Mar 2, 2016 10:19 AM - Schlomo: its just spitting out so much plastic at the start of each layer
    Mar 2, 2016 10:19 AM - toymaker: volcano has a .4 nozzle right?
    Mar 2, 2016 10:19 AM - Schlomo: 0.8
Mar 2, 2016 10:19 AM - toymaker: is .6 the smallest for the volcano?
    Mar 2, 2016 10:20 AM - Schlomo: yeah
    Mar 2, 2016 10:20 AM - Schlomo: i might move down..
    Mar 2, 2016 10:20 AM - Schlomo: but i wanted 0.8
    Mar 2, 2016 10:20 AM - toymaker: have u tried the reg ed6 ?
    Mar 2, 2016 10:20 AM - Schlomo: yes
    Mar 2, 2016 10:20 AM - toymaker: with .4
Mar 2, 2016 10:20 AM - Schlomo: it was perfect
    Mar 2, 2016 10:20 AM - toymaker: nad?
Mar 2, 2016 10:21 AM - Schlomo: didnt change much for the first print and it still just splurges plastic everywhere
    Mar 2, 2016 10:21 AM - Schlomo: and i just re-calibrated e stepps, was over extruding a bit but only 103mm instead of 100mmm
    Mar 2, 2016 10:21 AM - toymaker: thats minor
    Mar 2, 2016 10:21 AM - Schlomo: yeah
Mar 2, 2016 10:22 AM - toymaker: ya your corners look pretty bad
    Mar 2, 2016 10:22 AM - Schlomo: lets see
    Mar 2, 2016 10:22 AM - Schlomo: extruder acceleration is 500mm/s/s
Mar 2, 2016 10:22 AM - Schlomo: no clue what that should be
Mar 2, 2016 10:22 AM - toymaker: is that stock?
    Mar 2, 2016 10:22 AM - Schlomo: jerk is 8
    Mar 2, 2016 10:23 AM - Schlomo: not sure
Mar 2, 2016 10:23 AM - toymaker: correct nozzle and filament size?
    Mar 2, 2016 10:23 AM - Schlomo: yes
    Mar 2, 2016 10:23 AM - toymaker: just checking =)
Mar 2, 2016 10:24 AM - toymaker: can u manually reduce the flow rate in? simpl3d? thats what u use right?
    Mar 2, 2016 10:24 AM - Schlomo: yeah

    Mar 2, 2016 10:24 AM - toymaker: can u do while printing?
    Mar 2, 2016 10:25 AM - Schlomo: sure
Mar 2, 2016 10:25 AM - toymaker: i would try that... to see if it impoves any
Mar 2, 2016 10:25 AM - toymaker: cut the flow rate back like 33%
Mar 2, 2016 10:25 AM - Schlomo: lowest i can go is 75% in Octo during a print
    Mar 2, 2016 10:25 AM - Schlomo: i'll try that
Mar 2, 2016 10:26 AM - Schlomo: if still bad i'll go down drastically to like 0.5
Mar 2, 2016 10:26 AM - Schlomo: but i worry i wont be able to fill gaps
Mar 2, 2016 10:26 AM - toymaker: try reptier host, if u get a chance... maybe its software
    Mar 2, 2016 10:27 AM - toymaker: fill gaps?
    Mar 2, 2016 10:27 AM - Schlomo: top/bottom layers may have gaps
    Mar 2, 2016 10:27 AM - toymaker: layer 1 and 2?
Mar 2, 2016 10:27 AM - Schlomo: mainly layer 1 and top layers
    Mar 2, 2016 10:27 AM - Schlomo: i'll check
Mar 2, 2016 10:28 AM - toymaker: also ive never printed with .8, maybe u running it to fast for the filament to harden some
Mar 2, 2016 10:30 AM - danzca6: do you have a part fan on that thing
    Mar 2, 2016 10:30 AM - Schlomo: no
    Mar 2, 2016 10:30 AM - Schlomo: i only print abs
    Mar 2, 2016 10:30 AM - Schlomo: heated enclosure
Mar 2, 2016 10:30 AM - toymaker: i know on the 25mm calibration cube, the last top cube prints to fast
Mar 2, 2016 10:31 AM - toymaker: and the tops cube kinda collapses in on itself
Mar 2, 2016 10:31 AM - Schlomo: looks like default accelerations are 6000,6000,100,10000
Mar 2, 2016 10:31 AM - Schlomo: mine are WAY lower
Mar 2, 2016 10:31 AM - Schlomo: and my z jerk is way higher
    Mar 2, 2016 10:31 AM - Schlomo: hmm
    Mar 2, 2016 10:31 AM - toymaker: go stock
Mar 2, 2016 10:31 AM - Schlomo: gonna modify and try this
Mar 2, 2016 10:32 AM - toymaker: ive never changed my accel/jerk settings , i get really nice sharp corners
Mar 2, 2016 10:33 AM - toymaker: u might need a part fan... thats pla?
    Mar 2, 2016 10:34 AM - Schlomo: anbs
    Mar 2, 2016 10:34 AM - Schlomo: abs
    Mar 2, 2016 10:35 AM - toymaker: try pla
    Mar 2, 2016 10:40 AM - Schlomo: i dont have any lol
Mar 2, 2016 10:40 AM - Schlomo: gonna try firmware first
Mar 2, 2016 10:56 AM - Schlomo: so its still pretty bad but i dropped the flow rate down to 75% and it looks closer
Mar 2, 2016 10:56 AM - Schlomo: moved to 0.5 flow rate and testing again
Mar 2, 2016 11:01 AM - Bill Monroe: Does your face hurt?
    Mar 2, 2016 11:02 AM - Schlomo: yes
    Mar 2, 2016 11:02 AM - Bill Monroe: <hi5>
    Mar 2, 2016 11:10 AM - Schlomo: [IMG]
Mar 2, 2016 11:11 AM - Schlomo: left 3 printed with different acceleration settings/retraction settings but a set 0.9 flow setting
Mar 2, 2016 11:11 AM - Schlomo: far right printed at 0.5 flow rate
    Mar 2, 2016 11:11 AM - Schlomo: [IMG]
    Mar 2, 2016 11:12 AM - Schlomo: WTF
Mar 2, 2016 11:17 AM - AutopsyTurvy: blerghhhhh stringmail can kiss the fattest part of my ass
Mar 2, 2016 11:23 AM - Schlomo: this damn cubes can kiss my ass
    Mar 2, 2016 11:25 AM - Schlomo: i moved to a 0.6mm nozzle
    Mar 2, 2016 11:25 AM - Schlomo: screw 0.8
    Mar 2, 2016 11:56 AM - daniel871: Looks way over-extruded.
Mar 2, 2016 12:01 PM - JeffTheMess: it looks way better than before though, your on the right track
    Mar 2, 2016 12:29 PM - Schlomo: the 0.6 looks perfect
Mar 2, 2016 12:29 PM - Schlomo: with flow back to 0.9 for ABS
    Mar 2, 2016 12:29 PM - Schlomo: WTF!
    Mar 2, 2016 12:29 PM - Schlomo: im sticking with the 0.6, 0.3mm layers
    Mar 2, 2016 12:45 PM - JeffTheMess: nothing sand paper can't handle
    Mar 2, 2016 12:53 PM - jbigler1986: With different nozzles I would recalibrate esteps
    Mar 2, 2016 12:53 PM - jbigler1986: Extrusion multiplier should never be below 9
Mar 2, 2016 12:59 PM - Schlomo: shouldnt e steps be independ of nozzle size?
Mar 2, 2016 1:00 PM - Schlomo: and s3d should do that math? i always thought calibration should be done without filament going through nozzle
    Mar 2, 2016 1:01 PM - jbigler1986: What? That's how you calibrate the esteps
    Mar 2, 2016 1:02 PM - jbigler1986:
Mar 2, 2016 1:03 PM - jbigler1986: Follow that video. Very easy. If using bowden same steps still apply.
Mar 2, 2016 1:11 PM - Schlomo: no i pull my bowden off my hotend
Mar 2, 2016 1:11 PM - Schlomo: and measure from the outlet of my bowden
    Mar 2, 2016 1:12 PM - Schlomo: its exactly 100mm when i extrude 100mm
Mar 2, 2016 1:12 PM - Schlomo: i know how to do it, but im fairly certain while doing this you shouldn't be feeding into the hot end and extruding as it puts force back on the filamet
Mar 2, 2016 1:14 PM - Mike Kelly: are your steppers cool?
    Mar 2, 2016 1:17 PM - Schlomo: yes very
    Mar 2, 2016 1:18 PM - JeffTheMess: ramps maybe?
Mar 2, 2016 1:19 PM - Schlomo: still doesnt explain why the 0.6mm and 0.4mm work perfectly
Mar 2, 2016 1:20 PM - Mike Kelly: i dunno you changed a lot at once
Mar 2, 2016 1:21 PM - Schlomo: yeah but i literally went from 0.8mm nozzle shit to 0.6mm perfect with only a hardware change and a nozzle/extrusion height change in S3D
    Mar 2, 2016 1:21 PM - Schlomo: http://schlomorific.ddns.net:8080/stream_simple.html
Mar 2, 2016 1:21 PM - Schlomo: i'll post better pictures when I get home from work, but the layers are great
Mar 2, 2016 1:21 PM - Mike Kelly: i don't think s3d is well optimized around 0.8mm nozzles and above
Mar 2, 2016 1:22 PM - Schlomo: Thats more of what I am thinking
Mar 2, 2016 1:23 PM - Mike Kelly: i think their path planning algorithm is optimized around a .4mm nozzle so as you get further away it loses some of it's optimization
    Mar 2, 2016 1:23 PM - Mike Kelly: at least that's what i've noticed
Mar 2, 2016 1:23 PM - danzca6: would slic3r or cura do better with the bigger nozzle?
    Mar 2, 2016 1:24 PM - Mike Kelly: i believe slic3r handles it better
Mar 2, 2016 1:24 PM - Mike Kelly: i told someone on the BB forum to check his connections
Mar 2, 2016 1:24 PM - Mike Kelly: he said "of course i checked my connections, please be more specific"
Mar 2, 2016 1:24 PM - danzca6: that might be a good test then to see if the cube comes out better with just a change in software
Mar 2, 2016 1:24 PM - Mike Kelly: turns out he had a loose connection
Mar 2, 2016 1:25 PM - Mike Kelly: WHO COULD HAVE SEEN THAT
    Mar 2, 2016 1:25 PM - danzca6: haha
    Mar 2, 2016 1:25 PM - danzca6: PEBKAC
Mar 2, 2016 1:26 PM - Mike Kelly: you have no idea how much i want to say that to people
Mar 2, 2016 1:26 PM - Mike Kelly: gotta bite my lip
    Mar 2, 2016 1:31 PM - jbigler1986: Just do it
    Mar 2, 2016 1:31 PM - danzca6: you're a rebel sir
Mar 2, 2016 1:31 PM - jbigler1986: Biting your lip to many times makes it hurt after a while
    Mar 2, 2016 1:32 PM - jbigler1986: Nah. I usually avoid confrontation. I'm not a fan of it
Mar 2, 2016 2:35 PM - Mike Kelly: people love posting questions everywhere but in the general questions
Mar 2, 2016 2:36 PM - Mike Kelly: I need a thing that looks for question marks in posts and says "Are you sure you don't want to post this to general questions?"
Mar 2, 2016 3:17 PM - Schlomo: I have some really good progress
Mar 2, 2016 3:18 PM - Schlomo: uploading images now
Mar 2, 2016 3:18 PM - Schlomo: the 0.6mm nozzle is working pretty well. Still have some problems where the layer starts
    Mar 2, 2016 3:19 PM - danzca6: first layer or any layer
    Mar 2, 2016 3:19 PM - Schlomo: [IMG]

    Mar 2, 2016 3:19 PM - danzca6: oh I see
Mar 2, 2016 3:19 PM - Schlomo: printed this in Vase mode. Looks great. [IMG]
    Mar 2, 2016 3:19 PM - danzca6: that does look a lot better
Mar 2, 2016 3:21 PM - Schlomo: now just to figure out the start of each layer
Mar 2, 2016 3:21 PM - Schlomo: maybe retraction distance increase?
Mar 2, 2016 3:22 PM - danzca6: possible, looks like it is carrying a bugger over to the start of the layer
    Mar 2, 2016 3:22 PM - Schlomo: i'll try over exagering going from 5mm to 8mm
    Mar 2, 2016 3:36 PM - Mike Kelly: alright that's 5 mover estimates, i'm freaking done
Mar 2, 2016 3:37 PM - Mike Kelly: do you have dual cooling fans
    Mar 2, 2016 3:38 PM - Schlomo: i have 0 fans
Mar 2, 2016 3:38 PM - Mike Kelly: oh right abs
Mar 2, 2016 3:38 PM - Mike Kelly: what speed
    Mar 2, 2016 3:39 PM - Schlomo: 60
Mar 2, 2016 4:00 PM - Schlomo: So.. Any comment? Lol
    Mar 2, 2016 4:06 PM - Mike Kelly: try at 30
    Mar 2, 2016 4:49 PM - jbigler1986: Boooooom
    Mar 2, 2016 4:54 PM - Mike Kelly: woot got PT100 working on 1.1.0
Mar 2, 2016 4:58 PM - danzca6: is that worth the $45...was looking at it again today on PS site
Mar 2, 2016 5:00 PM - danzca6: the site said it works on hex as well as e3d
    Mar 2, 2016 5:00 PM - Schlomo: no real change at 30
Mar 2, 2016 5:00 PM - Schlomo: going to try increasing retraction speed
    Mar 2, 2016 5:26 PM - Schlomo: no change
    Mar 2, 2016 5:33 PM - jbigler1986: MK is it a screw in?
    Mar 2, 2016 5:35 PM - danzca6: the PT100?
Mar 2, 2016 5:36 PM - Mike Kelly: no it's a sleeve held in place with a set screw
    Mar 2, 2016 5:37 PM - danzca6: https://printedsolid.com/collections/accessories-and-upgrades/products/pt100-total-upgrade-kit
    Mar 2, 2016 5:39 PM - Mike Kelly: [IMG]
    Mar 2, 2016 5:40 PM - danzca6: Schlomo...might want to look at this https://www.simplify3d.com/support/print-quality-troubleshooting/
    Mar 2, 2016 5:41 PM - danzca6: oh, that's different than what I was thinking mk
Mar 2, 2016 5:41 PM - Mike Kelly: it's pretty great cause it works on like any version
    Mar 2, 2016 5:42 PM - Mike Kelly: thermocouple, thermistor, pt100, etc
Mar 2, 2016 5:56 PM - Schlomo: doing a test with Wipe while retracting on
    Mar 2, 2016 5:56 PM - Schlomo: with a 5mm wipe
Mar 2, 2016 6:14 PM - Schlomo: that did nothing
Mar 2, 2016 6:34 PM - Schlomo: i have so many calibration cubes
    Mar 2, 2016 6:54 PM - danzca6: Keep printing...you almost have what you need for a q-bert level
    Mar 2, 2016 6:56 PM - Schlomo: i have the bottom 2 levels
    Mar 2, 2016 6:56 PM - Schlomo: layers(
    Mar 2, 2016 6:56 PM - danzca6: haha
Mar 2, 2016 6:57 PM - Schlomo: i mean, the blobs i have now I can live with, but they're not ideal
Mar 2, 2016 6:58 PM - Schlomo: its just tough to pinpoint exactly whats causing these blobs
Mar 2, 2016 6:59 PM - danzca6: you could always try different types of filament. did it print fine prior to the transformation with that ABS
    Mar 2, 2016 6:59 PM - Schlomo: yeah
    Mar 2, 2016 6:59 PM - Schlomo: same abs
    Mar 2, 2016 6:59 PM - Schlomo: i mean, i've got the thing to -1mm restart distance
Mar 2, 2016 7:00 PM - Schlomo: and it still has some blobs at the start
    Mar 2, 2016 7:00 PM - Schlomo: so..
Mar 2, 2016 7:01 PM - danzca6: errr...what about installing the gregs wade with the stock hex? Then change things out little by little
    Mar 2, 2016 7:01 PM - danzca6: crazy thought
Mar 2, 2016 7:01 PM - danzca6: just that so many things have changed at once
Mar 2, 2016 7:02 PM - Schlomo: hex is on a different printer
Mar 2, 2016 7:02 PM - Schlomo: i could throw my v6 on but thats going backwards at this point
Mar 2, 2016 7:02 PM - Schlomo: i might just be over extruding?
    Mar 2, 2016 7:03 PM - danzca6: might
Mar 2, 2016 7:03 PM - Schlomo: read a few people who said it seems with their volcanos they just inherently overextrude
Mar 2, 2016 7:03 PM - Schlomo: not sure how thats physically possibly but hey
Mar 2, 2016 7:04 PM - danzca6: I was just thinking if it printed fine prior, then go back to just having the build height change, check, change something else, check...and so on
    Mar 2, 2016 7:04 PM - Schlomo: yeah
Mar 2, 2016 7:04 PM - Schlomo: just extra work and my garage is cold
    Mar 2, 2016 7:04 PM - Schlomo: lol
Mar 2, 2016 7:05 PM - Schlomo: id rather throw calibration cubes at it at this point
    Mar 2, 2016 7:05 PM - danzca6: no, I hear you...that's why I say it's a crazy idea
    Mar 2, 2016 7:06 PM - Schlomo: no its a good idea
    Mar 2, 2016 7:06 PM - Schlomo: but bleh
Mar 2, 2016 7:07 PM - danzca6: don't forget, sometimes you have to step away from something before you get the "ah ha" moment
Mar 2, 2016 7:09 PM - Schlomo: Oh yeah, i know. I do that on a daily basis. Comes with the engineer title lol. Just dont have enough hours in the day with work and all
Mar 2, 2016 7:36 PM - danzca6: Very interesting article...so if I record the sounds a printer makes while printing an object and can reverse engineer that object to be printed on that same machine? http://www.3ders.org/articles/20160...-could-put-intellectual-property-at-risk.html

    Mar 2, 2016 8:19 PM - BryZad: Hey all
    Mar 2, 2016 8:21 PM - danzca6: hey, how's the BB-8 build going
Mar 2, 2016 8:21 PM - BryZad: going good i got some more white in today
    Mar 2, 2016 8:23 PM - BryZad: [IMG]
Mar 2, 2016 8:23 PM - danzca6: I saw a video the other day of someone with a completed build that moved, blinked, and talked. Really pretty cool
    Mar 2, 2016 8:23 PM - BryZad: now thats a spool lol
    Mar 2, 2016 8:23 PM - danzca6: yah, is that a 3K
Mar 2, 2016 8:24 PM - BryZad: i am afraid to put on top of the printer lol
Mar 2, 2016 8:24 PM - danzca6: yike, yeah, be careful of that
    Mar 2, 2016 8:25 PM - danzca6: nothing like a broken build plate
    Mar 2, 2016 8:25 PM - BryZad: 2.5k spool
Mar 2, 2016 8:27 PM - danzca6: how many rolls have you gone through already
Mar 2, 2016 8:30 PM - Hannah S.: Nice spools. I only wish my printer wouldn't turn it into rubbish...
Mar 2, 2016 8:31 PM - Bill Monroe: anyone see where I parked my tricycle?
    Mar 2, 2016 8:32 PM - danzca6: Check the park bill
Mar 2, 2016 8:33 PM - Bill Monroe: uh ya gotta realize, I live next to Joshua Tree National Park.. checking there would take awhile :)
Mar 2, 2016 8:33 PM - danzca6: Hannah, having issues with your printer
    Mar 2, 2016 8:34 PM - danzca6: indeed...haha
Mar 2, 2016 8:34 PM - Hannah S.: Yeah, I posted on the troubleshooting page, but no catches. Y-axis is gone to shit (pardon the language)
Mar 2, 2016 8:35 PM - danzca6: is the fan over the ramps working?
Mar 2, 2016 8:36 PM - danzca6: oh, grinding...does it move ok manually or just when printing do you hear the grind
Mar 2, 2016 8:36 PM - Hannah S.: It moves smoothly manually, but grinds during the print
    Mar 2, 2016 8:37 PM - Hannah S.: There shouldn't be any obstructions
Mar 2, 2016 8:38 PM - danzca6: when did you buy your printer? prob still under warranty since it is a +Plus
Mar 2, 2016 8:39 PM - danzca6: you could give Robo a call in the morning and see if they can pinpoint. I'm sure anything broken would be replaced free
    Mar 2, 2016 8:39 PM - Hannah S.: -crosses fingers-
Mar 2, 2016 8:40 PM - danzca6: couple things to check would be the belt tensioners under the plate note being cracked or broken. Nothing loose for the screws and bolts
Mar 2, 2016 8:40 PM - Bill Monroe: current adjust
    Mar 2, 2016 8:40 PM - danzca6: that too
    Mar 2, 2016 8:40 PM - danzca6: more involved though
Mar 2, 2016 8:40 PM - Bill Monroe: doesnt make it less likely
    Mar 2, 2016 8:41 PM - danzca6: agreed
Mar 2, 2016 8:41 PM - Schlomo: Hannah, looks like you didnt pull the Heater ribbon cable out
Mar 2, 2016 8:41 PM - Schlomo: on the back side of the print bed
Mar 2, 2016 8:41 PM - Schlomo: did you gently remove the ribbon cable from between the glass bed and y axis?
Mar 2, 2016 8:42 PM - Schlomo: it should float freely in air back there, but should have quite a bit of slack
Mar 2, 2016 8:42 PM - Hannah S.: no, its secure. Double checked
Mar 2, 2016 8:42 PM - Bill Monroe: I like to float freely in air
Mar 2, 2016 8:42 PM - Schlomo: so it has a lot of slack?
Mar 2, 2016 8:43 PM - Schlomo: where you can manually move the bed back and forth all the way to hear the click from the beds end stop?
Mar 2, 2016 8:44 PM - Hannah S.: yeah, it is loose. Like I said, nothing catches. It seems more like an electrical or motor error, which is beyond my forte
    Mar 2, 2016 8:44 PM - Schlomo: Interesting
Mar 2, 2016 8:44 PM - Schlomo: have you checked under the glass bed?
Mar 2, 2016 8:44 PM - Schlomo: how is the belt tension?
    Mar 2, 2016 8:44 PM - Bill Monroe: lord
Mar 2, 2016 8:45 PM - Bill Monroe: this reminds me of an old saying my grandfather used to recite.. let's see.. how does it go.. ?
    Mar 2, 2016 8:45 PM - danzca6: has it ever printed right
Mar 2, 2016 8:45 PM - Hannah S.: not once. Just got it yesterday. Have run about 16 test prints. All circles
    Mar 2, 2016 8:45 PM - Hannah S.: well, not really circles.
Mar 2, 2016 8:45 PM - danzca6: might be a bad stepper motor or one needing adjustment
Mar 2, 2016 8:46 PM - Bill Monroe: "if all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail"
Mar 2, 2016 8:46 PM - Schlomo: they do test prints Dan before they send printers out...
    Mar 2, 2016 8:46 PM - danzca6: haha
    Mar 2, 2016 8:46 PM - danzca6: really
Mar 2, 2016 8:46 PM - Schlomo: i'd be surprised if they didnt find out the stepper voltage wasn't high enough on the driver
Mar 2, 2016 8:46 PM - Bill Monroe: CURRENT! not voltage
Mar 2, 2016 8:46 PM - Schlomo: ehhhhh yeah its late
Mar 2, 2016 8:46 PM - danzca6: there have been some like that on here recently like that out the door
    Mar 2, 2016 8:47 PM - Bill Monroe: ok.. here's your hammer
    Mar 2, 2016 8:47 PM - danzca6: I can't lift it bill
    Mar 2, 2016 8:47 PM - danzca6: haha...
    Mar 2, 2016 8:47 PM - Bill Monroe: :)
Mar 2, 2016 8:47 PM - danzca6: have you seen that GE commercial
    Mar 2, 2016 8:48 PM - Bill Monroe: ya.. here's your grandfather's....
Mar 2, 2016 8:48 PM - Bill Monroe: "what's the matter with Owen?"
    Mar 2, 2016 8:49 PM - danzca6: that's the one
Mar 2, 2016 8:49 PM - Bill Monroe: it reminds me of when my dad gave me his father's double-bit axe
Mar 2, 2016 8:50 PM - danzca6: was his name paul and have a big blue ox
Mar 2, 2016 8:51 PM - Bill Monroe: actually it was Orville and it was how he made his living.. lumberjack .. crater lake oregon
    Mar 2, 2016 8:51 PM - danzca6: well that's close
Mar 2, 2016 8:52 PM - Bill Monroe: made in the 30s.. it's truly a work of art.. very high quality
    Mar 2, 2016 8:52 PM - BryZad: 2 rolls so far
    Mar 2, 2016 8:53 PM - danzca6: 2 - 2.5K rolls?
    Mar 2, 2016 8:53 PM - danzca6: wow
Mar 2, 2016 8:53 PM - BryZad: nill where do you live at ?
    Mar 2, 2016 8:53 PM - BryZad: no lol 2 1 k rolls so far
Mar 2, 2016 8:53 PM - BryZad: i was going nig on this one should finish out panels and some other projects
    Mar 2, 2016 8:54 PM - danzca6: is you b key working? haha
    Mar 2, 2016 8:55 PM - Bill Monroe: oh.. I guess I'm nill huh?
Mar 2, 2016 8:55 PM - BryZad: ha ha was going to fast i guess
Mar 2, 2016 8:55 PM - BryZad: nill guy the sicen guy
Mar 2, 2016 8:55 PM - Bill Monroe: I live in the village of Joshua Tree California on the northern border of the national park
Mar 2, 2016 8:56 PM - BryZad: ahh cause the other half of the park is in AZ
    Mar 2, 2016 8:56 PM - Bill Monroe: negative
Mar 2, 2016 8:57 PM - BryZad: i drive through it or buy it going out of az to Vegas ?
Mar 2, 2016 8:57 PM - BryZad: or i guess i could be wrong lol
    Mar 2, 2016 8:58 PM - Bill Monroe: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joshua_Tree_National_Park
Mar 2, 2016 8:58 PM - Bill Monroe: I dont know the route you take.. I take Rt66 to 40
Mar 2, 2016 8:59 PM - Hannah S.: it is the sacred place of really old trees, second only in age to http://stateparks.utah.gov/parks/escalante-petrified-forest/
Mar 2, 2016 9:03 PM - BryZad: hmm on sec i am going to look up the rout i take
Mar 2, 2016 9:04 PM - Hannah S.: oh, whoops, that was the methuselah tree i was thinking of
Mar 2, 2016 9:06 PM - Mike Kelly: hannah you said you can move the axis freely by hand
    Mar 2, 2016 9:06 PM - BryZad: ha ha i take the 93
Mar 2, 2016 9:07 PM - BryZad: there is Joshua tree memorial higway or something then
Mar 2, 2016 9:07 PM - Mike Kelly: & if you enable the motors (do a move command) does the Y axis move relatively freely, or does it take a good amount of force for the motor to skip
Mar 2, 2016 9:08 PM - danzca6: she just got the printer yesterday and might need a little more detail on doing that
Mar 2, 2016 9:08 PM - Mike Kelly: under the control option
    Mar 2, 2016 9:09 PM - danzca6: hopefully she is still here
Mar 2, 2016 9:10 PM - Mike Kelly: i'd assume fiddling with the printer
Mar 2, 2016 9:10 PM - danzca6: so mike, do you think they do a test print on these before shipping

Mar 2, 2016 9:11 PM - Mike Kelly: supposedly they do
Mar 2, 2016 9:11 PM - Mike Kelly: but you know
Mar 2, 2016 9:11 PM - Mike Kelly: depends on the person right?
Mar 2, 2016 9:11 PM - danzca6: right...they should put the test print in the box for proof
    Mar 2, 2016 9:11 PM - Mike Kelly: haha
Mar 2, 2016 9:12 PM - danzca6: hey, even my underwear comes with a note that it was inspected by #12 ;)
Mar 2, 2016 9:13 PM - BryZad: are you jealous of my big spool mike !! lol
    Mar 2, 2016 9:14 PM - Mike Kelly: uhm
    Mar 2, 2016 9:14 PM - BryZad: ha ha
    Mar 2, 2016 9:14 PM - danzca6: scroll up and see his 2.5K roll...did sound a bit...odd
    Mar 2, 2016 9:15 PM - Mike Kelly: let's hope it's good filament ;)
Mar 2, 2016 9:15 PM - BryZad: that was the point Dan
    Mar 2, 2016 9:15 PM - danzca6: hehe
Mar 2, 2016 9:15 PM - BryZad: from Just Pla i hopw so to
    Mar 2, 2016 9:15 PM - Mike Kelly: so a crap shoot basically ;)
Mar 2, 2016 9:16 PM - Mike Kelly: kinda wish jerry berg would take down his robo3d video so people stop installing the v6 needlessly
    Mar 2, 2016 9:20 PM - danzca6: good old barnacules
Mar 2, 2016 9:20 PM - Schlomo: that his Tips and Tricks video?
Mar 2, 2016 9:21 PM - danzca6: well, he also got the KS version
    Mar 2, 2016 9:21 PM - danzca6: did that have the hex
Mar 2, 2016 9:22 PM - BryZad: no i think the kick starter had a jhead
    Mar 2, 2016 9:22 PM - danzca6: well, then that would be a decent upgrade I guess
    Mar 2, 2016 9:22 PM - danzca6: I don't think I will change my hex to the e3d until the hex dies
Mar 2, 2016 9:23 PM - danzca6: even then, robo is selling the hex for like $39
Mar 2, 2016 9:23 PM - BryZad: yea cause i got the r1 in oct 2014 and was the one of the first with the hex i think
Mar 2, 2016 9:28 PM - Mike Kelly: All anyone ever needs is a new nozzle
Mar 2, 2016 9:29 PM - Mike Kelly: I just stuck a v6 nozzle on my hex. Worked fine
Mar 2, 2016 9:30 PM - Schlomo: thats what I did for my homebrew printer
Mar 2, 2016 9:31 PM - Schlomo: might attempt to put my v6 heat block on my hex heatsink sometime, but its fine for now
Mar 2, 2016 9:31 PM - BryZad: i had a bent heat break in my hex
Mar 2, 2016 9:32 PM - BryZad: then the inner tube came out that wasnt suppose to
Mar 2, 2016 9:38 PM - BryZad: go for broke 27 hour print to get the top and bottom sphere panels done for bb-8
Mar 2, 2016 9:39 PM - BryZad: i think i am going to go through and rea lube the smooth rods just in case
    Mar 2, 2016 9:40 PM - danzca6: always a good idea
Mar 2, 2016 9:42 PM - BryZad: i added helper disks to the bottoms also to make sure they stick
Mar 2, 2016 9:43 PM - danzca6: yeah, nothing like a 24+ hour print to fail the final hour just because you didn't take a little precaution
Mar 2, 2016 9:45 PM - BryZad: damn glad i got a big spool this print takes .75lbs of filament
Mar 2, 2016 9:47 PM - danzca6: hopefully it rolls ok on your spool holder
Mar 2, 2016 9:51 PM - BryZad: yea it does
Mar 2, 2016 9:52 PM - BryZad: and were are off
    Mar 2, 2016 9:53 PM - danzca6: here's to big spools and long prints...haha
    Mar 2, 2016 9:56 PM - BryZad: cheers
Mar 2, 2016 9:59 PM - BryZad: i even lubed the spool contacts and where it rides on the spool holder lol
Mar 3, 2016 4:05 AM - Bill Monroe: Good Morning
Mar 3, 2016 5:16 AM - JeffTheMess: good morning robonauts
Mar 3, 2016 5:26 AM - Bill Monroe: Hi Jeff
Mar 3, 2016 5:35 AM - JeffTheMess: Hey Bill, hows it going
Mar 3, 2016 5:36 AM - Bill Monroe: eh.. ok I guess.. looks like someone hacked my amazon account and pulled some stuff.. working on getting that straightened out
Mar 3, 2016 5:38 AM - JeffTheMess: ah that sucks
Mar 3, 2016 5:39 AM - Bill Monroe: someone was clever.. initiated a return of a computer I bought, refunded it to a card, then used the card to buy a processor
Mar 3, 2016 5:39 AM - Bill Monroe: then changed the delivery address twice
Mar 3, 2016 5:41 AM - Bill Monroe: Amazon told UPS to intercept it and return it
Mar 3, 2016 5:43 AM - Bill Monroe: i'm curious though why the vendor I bought the computer from originally hasnt revolted since Amazon takes the money back from their account
Mar 3, 2016 5:44 AM - JeffTheMess: maybe they were in on it? who knows
Mar 3, 2016 5:44 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, could be
Mar 3, 2016 5:45 AM - Bill Monroe: i've also got a $1900 check pending at the bank, but I didnt write any...
Mar 3, 2016 5:48 AM - Bill Monroe: ack! one of my son's bday is tomorrow - i just realized it.
    Mar 3, 2016 5:51 AM - JeffTheMess: better get to a store
Mar 3, 2016 5:52 AM - Bill Monroe: heh naw.. i just send him cash
Mar 3, 2016 5:52 AM - Bill Monroe: well, paypal him money anyway
    Mar 3, 2016 5:53 AM - Bill Monroe: holy crap.. he's 34
Mar 3, 2016 6:02 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Ehhh, then he's old enough to not be terribly offended at a belated birthday paypal. :p
Mar 3, 2016 6:03 AM - Bill Monroe: it wont be belated
Mar 3, 2016 6:07 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Whee, last pauldron printing and then I can print a whole bunch of pyramid studs, and the weird shoe guard things, a few more belt buckles and I -should- be basically done with the printing for this project.
Mar 3, 2016 6:09 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Wait. No. No, I'm dumb. I still have to print a whole sword.
    Mar 3, 2016 6:09 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Augghhh
Mar 3, 2016 6:16 AM - JeffTheMess: sword should be the best part
Mar 3, 2016 6:17 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Certainly gonna require the most work. And I need to look up the legality of it - Holland's got some weird laws about even fake weapons.
    Mar 3, 2016 6:19 AM - Bill Monroe: tell them it's a tulip harvester
Mar 3, 2016 6:34 AM - daniel871: Reprinting that Heatwave vase in that pretty red T-glase.
    Mar 3, 2016 6:34 AM - daniel871: [IMG]
    Mar 3, 2016 6:35 AM - Schlomo: Damn Daniel!
Mar 3, 2016 6:35 AM - Schlomo: Back at it again with the red vase!
    Mar 3, 2016 6:40 AM - JeffTheMess: lol
Mar 3, 2016 6:40 AM - JeffTheMess: i was waiting for someone to say that
    Mar 3, 2016 6:55 AM - JeffTheMess:
Mar 3, 2016 7:00 AM - daniel871: Yeah, except this time I think I've got my retraction/etc. figured out for this printer.
Mar 3, 2016 7:01 AM - Schlomo: the print i did last night was really brittle, bad layer adhesion
Mar 3, 2016 7:01 AM - Schlomo: under extruding for sure
    Mar 3, 2016 7:01 AM - Schlomo: top layers aren't filled either
Mar 3, 2016 7:01 AM - Schlomo: Dan, i actually ended up suggesting that printer to one of my co-workers who was trying to get into printing
Mar 3, 2016 7:02 AM - danzca6: daniel, being in the south, I am surprised you don't keep your filament in a bin and not stacked behind your mono
Mar 3, 2016 7:02 AM - Schlomo: basically based on the comments you've made about it :)
Mar 3, 2016 7:02 AM - danzca6: yeah, now they are out of stock
Mar 3, 2016 7:02 AM - daniel871: I intend to print all of that stacked filament before it can go "bad".
Mar 3, 2016 7:03 AM - daniel871: Or worse than it already has, most of those spools have been around since May 2015.
    Mar 3, 2016 7:03 AM - danzca6: nice pink btw
Mar 3, 2016 7:04 AM - danzca6: well with your robo issues, I bet you have a lot of old filament waiting to be used
    Mar 3, 2016 7:04 AM - daniel871: Yep.
Mar 3, 2016 7:04 AM - daniel871: A lot of PLA and ABS spools to run through, a handful of "filled" PLA spools and then the good old Bridge spools.
Mar 3, 2016 7:05 AM - daniel871: Probably going to have a heated enclosure built before I get around to that though.
Mar 3, 2016 7:14 AM - AutopsyTurvy: I had some old filament do the weirdest thing... PLA so already sorta brittle, but the filament on the spool just sorta.... snapped. Repeatedly, without being touched. Almost like someone had slashed the side of the spool with a knife and left perfectly clean breaks through about a dozen strands.
Mar 3, 2016 7:16 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Yet, besides needing a bit of an extra eye on it to make sure it doesn't break during printing, it prints fine.
Mar 3, 2016 7:16 AM - danzca6: been there before. I had some justpla, brand new, doing that to me
Mar 3, 2016 7:16 AM - daniel871: JustPLA suffered from some pretty bad QC issues when we were all ordering at around the same time.
    Mar 3, 2016 7:17 AM - daniel871: Tangles on the spools, mostly.
    Mar 3, 2016 7:17 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Mine's all been from Plastic2Print.
Mar 3, 2016 7:17 AM - danzca6: I had tangles and also big bumps in it that would stop the extruder
Mar 3, 2016 7:18 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Yeah I got one spool with like... a chunk of metal or something in the filament. And some that are not exactly tangled, but so... over-energetic? that when they get pulled everything springs about and can snag.
Mar 3, 2016 7:19 AM - daniel871: Yeah, Taulman's spools are bad about that if you make the mistake of ever pulling that netting off of the spool.

Mar 3, 2016 7:19 AM - AutopsyTurvy: And one kind of PLA that would expand juuuuust enough in the hotend as to clog itself every. single. time.
Mar 3, 2016 7:26 AM - JeffTheMess: [IMG] almost done
    Mar 3, 2016 7:26 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Shiny!
Mar 3, 2016 7:27 AM - AutopsyTurvy: https://41.media.tumblr.com/e503dabd9ba3938ece4619a866a5a038/tumblr_o3gyrwePa21udnxozo1_1280.jpg ... ugh, it looks so plain for the amount of work it took to add that stupid emblem. Still needs some detail added but at least it's all one piece rather than six separate non-manifold parts.
    Mar 3, 2016 7:28 AM - danzca6: just add a lot of glitter ;)
Mar 3, 2016 7:29 AM - JeffTheMess: gold paint then my daughter and i will paint the globe
Mar 3, 2016 7:30 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Hehe, sadly, no glitter for this. I'm probably gonna coat everything in "mud" tho. :p
    Mar 3, 2016 7:50 AM - Mike Kelly: morning
Mar 3, 2016 7:50 AM - Mike Kelly: concerns me you quoted "mud"
    Mar 3, 2016 7:51 AM - JeffTheMess: hey mike
Mar 3, 2016 7:52 AM - AutopsyTurvy: lol thickened paint to look like mud, not actual mud.
    Mar 3, 2016 7:53 AM - WheresWaldo: Morning folks.
Mar 3, 2016 7:54 AM - WheresWaldo: Hey Mikey, when is moving day?
    Mar 3, 2016 8:03 AM - Mike Kelly: man i wish i knew
    Mar 3, 2016 8:03 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm starting on the 21st
Mar 3, 2016 8:04 AM - WheresWaldo: I think you will like the Boston area, a lot of history there. It's driving distance to every major metro area too.
Mar 3, 2016 8:05 AM - Mike Glass: Morning gents
Mar 3, 2016 8:05 AM - Mike Kelly: that's my thinking as well
    Mar 3, 2016 8:05 AM - Mike Kelly: it's no denver but it's close
Mar 3, 2016 8:05 AM - Mike Kelly: or comparable
Mar 3, 2016 8:05 AM - Mike Kelly: sup MG
    Mar 3, 2016 8:05 AM - Mike Glass: livin the dream, U?
    Mar 3, 2016 8:06 AM - Mike Kelly: living in a dream
Mar 3, 2016 8:06 AM - Mike Glass: Reality has not struck you yet eh.
    Mar 3, 2016 8:06 AM - WheresWaldo: Hey MG
Mar 3, 2016 8:07 AM - Mike Kelly: nope definitely in some kind of surreal state
Mar 3, 2016 8:07 AM - Mike Glass: Hey Waldo
    Mar 3, 2016 8:09 AM - Mike Kelly: waldo i setup 1.1.0 for PT100 yesterday
Mar 3, 2016 8:09 AM - Mike Kelly: just had to change a pin in Pins_ramps_13 or w/e
Mar 3, 2016 8:10 AM - WheresWaldo: Cool, how is it working for you? Been thinking about buying the kit to add to my Spider.
Mar 3, 2016 8:10 AM - Mike Kelly: didn't get much further than that
Mar 3, 2016 8:11 AM - Mike Kelly: been using them on the bigbox though, works as expected
Mar 3, 2016 8:11 AM - Mike Kelly: want to try pushing 300 at some point
Mar 3, 2016 8:11 AM - Mike Glass: what is that MK?
    Mar 3, 2016 8:12 AM - Mike Kelly: it's a temperature sensing device
Mar 3, 2016 8:12 AM - Mike Kelly: very linear response
Mar 3, 2016 8:12 AM - WheresWaldo: I still have an issue with my Robo, I can see why they added a second 4988 to the Z axis, about every 5 or 6 prints mine mysteriously comes out of level. So I have a new bed heater coming, plus a second 4988 driver, might just do the thermocoupler upgrade at the same time.
Mar 3, 2016 8:12 AM - Mike Kelly: can go up to 400C no problem
    Mar 3, 2016 8:12 AM - daniel871: I've modified my firmware files in anticipation of installing a PT100.
    Mar 3, 2016 8:12 AM - Mike Glass: hotend ?
    Mar 3, 2016 8:12 AM - Mike Glass: wow
Mar 3, 2016 8:12 AM - Mike Kelly: but requires a secondary board to adapt from the low resistance PT100 to the range the ramps can handle
Mar 3, 2016 8:13 AM - Mike Kelly: you'd need a new heater block for it
    Mar 3, 2016 8:13 AM - daniel871: Figure I'll plug the PT100 board into A3.
Mar 3, 2016 8:13 AM - Mike Kelly: printed solid sells one
    Mar 3, 2016 8:14 AM - Mike Kelly: posted a picture of the PT100 as well: http://community.robo3d.com/index.php?threads/shoutbox-archive.4737/page-119#post-69074
    Mar 3, 2016 8:14 AM - Mike Kelly: https://printedsolid.com/collections/accessories-and-upgrades/products/pt100-total-upgrade-kit
Mar 3, 2016 8:15 AM - WheresWaldo: Mike if you are having issues with RC3 I modified the RCBugFix branch configuration to work on the Robo. I just haven't/won't post as it is not an official RC or Gold build.
Mar 3, 2016 8:16 AM - WheresWaldo: Been using it the past two weeks and haven't run into any issues yet, plus they fixed the LCD menu issue.
Mar 3, 2016 8:17 AM - Mike Kelly: the only bug i'm getting is when you try and do a manual control movement and the number like resets, ie count to 156 and it resets to like 50
Mar 3, 2016 8:18 AM - WheresWaldo: There is another, if you use the TUNE menu once a print starts, it always goes to FLOW.
Mar 3, 2016 8:18 AM - WheresWaldo: They could be related. They made a few changes to ultralcd.cpp file
Mar 3, 2016 8:20 AM - BryZad: So far so good 8 hours into 27 hour print with 5lb spool
Mar 3, 2016 8:20 AM - Mike Glass: wow you could print with gold then right..lol
Mar 3, 2016 8:20 AM - Mike Glass: Hey Bry
    Mar 3, 2016 8:21 AM - BryZad: Hey Mike g
Mar 3, 2016 8:21 AM - BryZad: I think Mike K was jellious of my big spool
Mar 3, 2016 8:22 AM - Mike Glass: did you have to make a special spool holder?
Mar 3, 2016 8:23 AM - BryZad: Nahhh the one o printed awhile ago works well so far
Mar 3, 2016 8:25 AM - BryZad: The panel print I am doing now taks .75 lbs of fillament lol
Mar 3, 2016 8:27 AM - Mike Kelly: they also removed the change fillament option from what i could tell
    Mar 3, 2016 8:28 AM - BryZad: That's a handy feature
Mar 3, 2016 8:29 AM - Mike Glass: does that move the head from the print also?
Mar 3, 2016 8:29 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah it moves it to like X10 Y10
Mar 3, 2016 8:30 AM - WheresWaldo: MK, I just saw a reference to Change Filament, I was just looking over the commits for the Bug Fix. I think something was broken and it might be fixed now.
Mar 3, 2016 8:31 AM - WheresWaldo: I'm trying to find it again. GITHUB search is almost as bad as this forum's search.
Mar 3, 2016 8:33 AM - Mike Kelly: sweet deal
    Mar 3, 2016 8:34 AM - Mike Kelly: i highly doubt it's that bad
Mar 3, 2016 8:34 AM - Mike Kelly: this forum is like yahoo in 97 amounts of bad
Mar 3, 2016 8:36 AM - WheresWaldo: My lasted peeve about this forum is there is no way to just see the attachments in a thread, xda-developers does this, rcgroups does it, bikeforums does it.
Mar 3, 2016 8:36 AM - WheresWaldo: I am having to go backwards page by page to find out if anyone posted a S3D profile for Ninjaflex so I don't have to start from scratch.
    Mar 3, 2016 8:37 AM - Mike Kelly: https://all3dp.com/colorful-dual-extruder-3d-printing-models/
Mar 3, 2016 8:40 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Huh. Some of those look pretty good (though a lot of them still look pretty blobby)
    Mar 3, 2016 8:42 AM - Mike Kelly: also
Mar 3, 2016 8:47 AM - Mike Kelly: i like the wizards hat traffic cone
Mar 3, 2016 8:57 AM - WheresWaldo: So I have been reading the bug list on RC3, just casual reading mind you, and it looks like the devs are getting ready for an RC4, 'real soon now.'
Mar 3, 2016 8:59 AM - WheresWaldo: Shortly after they release RC4 I will try to post a version for the R1 (old), R1 (newer), R1+PLUS.
Mar 3, 2016 9:01 AM - WheresWaldo: I don't use Mesh leveling, so I probably won't make separate configs with Mesh enabled. Maybe I should use mesh, I'll have to think more on that one.
Mar 3, 2016 9:03 AM - Mike Kelly: the mesh is really splendid
    Mar 3, 2016 9:03 AM - Mike Kelly: i hate tuning autolevel
Mar 3, 2016 9:03 AM - Mike Kelly: thanks for all your work keeping track of it
Mar 3, 2016 9:04 AM - daniel871: I like the idea that my Robo is basically set for the contours of the bed and I can just slice and print (once I get around to tuning the PSU/upgrading the hotend for better handling of flexible filaments/the PT100 sensor).
Mar 3, 2016 9:04 AM - WheresWaldo: No problem. As much as I like my Robo, I do wish Robo3D would at least put some effort into keeping it up to date.
Mar 3, 2016 9:05 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah man i never would have bought from them if i knew how much of a sham their perception of "Open source" was
Mar 3, 2016 9:05 AM - Mike Kelly: should have saved my pennies and bought a lulzbot
Mar 3, 2016 9:05 AM - Mike Kelly: ugh i need to clear out my office
Mar 3, 2016 9:06 AM - WheresWaldo: Only two reasons I bought mine (I was contemplating an Ultimaker 2) was the build platform, then I found out about the 67% heated bed and the discount we got buying from BB (employee purchase).
Mar 3, 2016 9:07 AM - daniel871: Is there a setting in the Mesh Bed leveling that can be adjusted to raise the Z 5mm for probing the next point instead of going to the limit trigger and *then* moving to the next point?
    Mar 3, 2016 9:07 AM - daniel871: Or am I experiencing a bug in the mesh leveling?
    Mar 3, 2016 9:07 AM - WheresWaldo: Sorry, I can't answer that, since I haven't actually tried it.
Mar 3, 2016 9:08 AM - Mike Kelly: not understanding your question daniel
Mar 3, 2016 9:09 AM - daniel871: What happened when I tried it is that I would adjust the Z location until the nozzle was just touching the 1st probe location (by raising the nozzle off the bed and bringing it back down until it touched paper).
Mar 3, 2016 9:09 AM - daniel871: Then as it went to the next probe location it would lower until it triggered the limit switch and then move to the next location, dragging the nozzle across the bed.
Mar 3, 2016 9:10 AM - Mike Kelly: mine sure does not do that
Mar 3, 2016 9:10 AM - Mike Kelly: it goes to the next position at 4mm
Mar 3, 2016 9:10 AM - daniel871: Mine would read out that the position was 4.00mm but be physically pressing into the glass.
    Mar 3, 2016 9:11 AM - Mike Kelly: i'd reflash
Mar 3, 2016 9:12 AM - Schlomo: There is a setting in Marlin for how far to raise the probe before moving to the next point
Mar 3, 2016 9:12 AM - Schlomo: however, im on my work PC and dont have access to any source code to check what that is at the moment
Mar 3, 2016 9:13 AM - Schlomo: unless Mesh uses a different var from the Auto

Mar 3, 2016 9:13 AM - daniel871: I think that setting is the Auto Bed Leveling script and may not necessarily use the same values.
Mar 3, 2016 9:13 AM - WheresWaldo: Dan, I will take a quick look at the current source right now.
Mar 3, 2016 9:17 AM - WheresWaldo: Could it be this
    Code:
      #define MESH_HOME_SEARCH_Z 4  // Z after Home, bed somewhere below but above 0.0.
    Mar 3, 2016 9:22 AM - Mike Kelly: schlomo i dunno if there's a setting for that
    Mar 3, 2016 9:22 AM - Mike Kelly: oh
Mar 3, 2016 9:22 AM - Mike Kelly: yes there is
Mar 3, 2016 9:22 AM - Schlomo: its in the auto routine
Mar 3, 2016 9:22 AM - Mike Kelly: i need to reduce mine on the R1.7 so it's like 2
Mar 3, 2016 9:22 AM - Mike Kelly: 4mm is too much on that machine
Mar 3, 2016 9:23 AM - WheresWaldo: Schlo, where are you looking?
Mar 3, 2016 9:24 AM - Mike Kelly: i think he means the auto bed leveling "z raise between probes" value
Mar 3, 2016 9:24 AM - WheresWaldo: Except I think that is Auto level specific. besides I changed that for the next iteration ot 3 and 3
Mar 3, 2016 9:25 AM - WheresWaldo: In The Mesh section is the line I listed above that calls out 4 mm specifically.
Mar 3, 2016 9:25 AM - WheresWaldo: In RCBugFix it is line 415 of Configuration.h
Mar 3, 2016 9:26 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah it is
Mar 3, 2016 9:27 AM - WheresWaldo: In RC3 it's line 420, I think you can change that to 2 and it will give you the results you expect.
Mar 3, 2016 9:28 AM - WheresWaldo: The comment on that line can't be english. and the labels the devs sometimes use are less than descriptive.
Mar 3, 2016 9:28 AM - Mike Kelly: yup, thanks
Mar 3, 2016 9:29 AM - WheresWaldo: Don't thank me yet, I have never tried it, so it may not work.
Mar 3, 2016 9:29 AM - WheresWaldo: Or worse, it might do something really stupid.
Mar 3, 2016 9:30 AM - Mike Kelly: ugh man, all the moving estimates are coming in higher than expected
Mar 3, 2016 9:31 AM - WheresWaldo: Moving is not cheap, I did two company moves and I remember the last one was about 12 yrs ago and even then it cost the company over $8,000, Detroit to Charlotte.
    Mar 3, 2016 9:31 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i was expecting around 10k
    Mar 3, 2016 9:32 AM - Mike Kelly: it's coming in 2-3k over that
Mar 3, 2016 9:32 AM - Mike Kelly: i think they're doing a bad job estimating all my stuff
Mar 3, 2016 9:32 AM - Mike Kelly: which i guess makes sense
Mar 3, 2016 9:32 AM - WheresWaldo: That wasn't part of your salary negotiation?
    Mar 3, 2016 9:33 AM - WheresWaldo: Sorry, I didn't mean to pry.
    Mar 3, 2016 9:33 AM - Mike Kelly: i have an allotment
Mar 3, 2016 9:33 AM - Mike Kelly: but i thought i was overestimating when i game them my numbers
Mar 3, 2016 9:33 AM - Mike Kelly: guess not
Mar 3, 2016 9:33 AM - Mike Kelly: i have too much shit
Mar 3, 2016 9:34 AM - WheresWaldo: Are you going with Full pack and unpack by the movers?
    Mar 3, 2016 9:34 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah
Mar 3, 2016 9:34 AM - WheresWaldo: I found that is the easiest way on the significant other.
Mar 3, 2016 9:34 AM - WheresWaldo: But you can save some dough on omitting the unpack.
    Mar 3, 2016 9:35 AM - Mike Kelly: hmm i guess i don't think it includes a full unpack
Mar 3, 2016 9:35 AM - Mike Kelly: they just put stuff in the room and reassemble furniture
Mar 3, 2016 9:35 AM - WheresWaldo: They don't put stuff away, they just unpack the boxes and haul off all the packing materials when they leave.
    Mar 3, 2016 9:36 AM - Mike Kelly: ah
Mar 3, 2016 9:36 AM - WheresWaldo: If there is a municipal recycle center close by you can save some money by throwing out all the packing materials yourself, or at least you used to.
Mar 3, 2016 9:36 AM - Mike Kelly: i really need to get to boston and look at some homes
Mar 3, 2016 9:37 AM - WheresWaldo: Did you find a realtor yet?
    Mar 3, 2016 9:38 AM - toymaker: http://imgur.com/GU5NWVn more ballscrew porn
    Mar 3, 2016 9:40 AM - danzca6: porn is right...my work pc wouldn't allow me to open it ;)
    Mar 3, 2016 9:40 AM - danzca6: well, that's just because of imgur
Mar 3, 2016 9:42 AM - Mike Kelly: i have one bid that's like 2-3k less than the rest and i'm not sure if that's a good thing or if everyone else just overestimated
Mar 3, 2016 9:42 AM - toymaker: mk, what was that ed3 thing u couldnt tell us about...
Mar 3, 2016 9:43 AM - toymaker: or is it still underwraps?
    Mar 3, 2016 9:44 AM - Mike Kelly: seems like they're a no
Mar 3, 2016 9:45 AM - Mike Kelly: still under wraps, but i hear if you go to MWRRF you can see it
Mar 3, 2016 9:45 AM - danzca6: MK, boston is only 12-15 hours from the reprap event in IN, could drive out and house shop after
Mar 3, 2016 9:46 AM - Mike Kelly: Wheaton Van lines is who gave me the lowball
Mar 3, 2016 9:46 AM - Mike Kelly: dan i'm thinking about flying to bostom a few days before midwest then go to midwest from boston and then fly back
Mar 3, 2016 9:47 AM - WheresWaldo: You say 12-15 hours like it is just to the corner store, I have made many driving trips cross country and they are not easy. One summer we circumnavigated the US as a family trip it was 8500 miles in 30 days.
    Mar 3, 2016 9:47 AM - danzca6: that works as well
Mar 3, 2016 9:47 AM - Mike Kelly: i only want to make the 30 hour drive once
Mar 3, 2016 9:48 AM - danzca6: heck, I'll drive 1100 miles to Orlando in June with the family in a day
Mar 3, 2016 9:48 AM - WheresWaldo: I've done the Charlotte to Portland trip in 2.5 days with only one driver.
Mar 3, 2016 9:48 AM - danzca6: we have trucker jeans in my family
Mar 3, 2016 9:49 AM - WheresWaldo: More than once.
Mar 3, 2016 9:49 AM - Mike Kelly: i really hope mayflower comes in more reasonable
Mar 3, 2016 9:49 AM - Mike Kelly: holy shit
Mar 3, 2016 9:49 AM - Mike Kelly: i do not have 16,750lb of stuff
    Mar 3, 2016 9:50 AM - danzca6: are they moving your cars?
Mar 3, 2016 9:50 AM - WheresWaldo: Movers use an industry standard rate book usually, to estimate weights.
    Mar 3, 2016 9:54 AM - Mike Kelly: no
Mar 3, 2016 9:55 AM - Mike Kelly: i just don't get why one came in at 12.5 and the others are coming in at 16
Mar 3, 2016 9:55 AM - Mike Kelly: either the 16's over estimate a lot, or the 12.5 is a swindle
Mar 3, 2016 9:59 AM - Mike Kelly: might be worth paying more just for peace of mind
Mar 3, 2016 10:00 AM - Mike Kelly: though it looks like mayflower is also poorly reviewed
Mar 3, 2016 10:00 AM - Mike Kelly: internet reviews are really getting worthless
Mar 3, 2016 10:02 AM - Mike Kelly: man i need someone to adult for me, too much responsibility
Mar 3, 2016 10:06 AM - danzca6: that would cost more money MK
Mar 3, 2016 10:11 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah but then i wouldn't have to
Mar 3, 2016 10:12 AM - WheresWaldo: Dan is it you or the other Dan that's a PC gamer?
    Mar 3, 2016 10:15 AM - danzca6: must be the other dan...i play a bit, but don't put it as a title ;)
    Mar 3, 2016 10:16 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah it's daniel
    Mar 3, 2016 10:17 AM - WheresWaldo: Thanks
Mar 3, 2016 10:34 AM - Mike Kelly: it takes soooo longggg to check in files
    Mar 3, 2016 10:34 AM - Mike Kelly: ugh
Mar 3, 2016 10:37 AM - JeffTheMess: adulthood "opening files"
Mar 3, 2016 11:10 AM - Mike Kelly: even just opening/closing a file takes like 30 seconds to a minute
    Mar 3, 2016 11:10 AM - Mike Kelly: ugh
Mar 3, 2016 11:10 AM - Mike Kelly: i've really got to finish work already
    Mar 3, 2016 11:16 AM - daniel871: I don't know about strictly PC gaming, but yeah.
Mar 3, 2016 11:16 AM - daniel871: Also, I'll try adjusting that line in the firmware and see if it makes any difference on the mesh leveling.
Mar 3, 2016 11:17 AM - Mike Kelly: if you want me to take a look at your firmware just shoot it over
Mar 3, 2016 11:19 AM - Mike Kelly: lol dan, asking harr as if he knew anything
    Mar 3, 2016 11:21 AM - daniel871: Sent you a message.
Mar 3, 2016 11:21 AM - daniel871: Man, I wish programming the CNC at work as as easy as slicing an STL for the printer.
Mar 3, 2016 11:22 AM - daniel871: I know it's basically impossible because they're entirely different approaches to manufacturing, but still.
    Mar 3, 2016 11:22 AM - Mike Kelly: oh i know right
Mar 3, 2016 11:22 AM - Mike Kelly: 3d printing makes CNC cam seem so easy
    Mar 3, 2016 11:22 AM - Mike Kelly: it's not... at all
Mar 3, 2016 11:26 AM - daniel871: There are some CAM packages that claim to get close to that . The SolidCAM thing that was promoted a while back claimed to be intelligent enough to automatically machine parts, etc. "once set up".
Mar 3, 2016 11:27 AM - daniel871: It was just as expensive as Solidworks Premium last I heard about it though.
    Mar 3, 2016 11:29 AM - daniel871: Oh hey, it's still around. http://www.solidcam.com/en-us/cam-solutions/why-solidcam/
Mar 3, 2016 11:31 AM - danzca6: haha, well I just thought maybe harr would bend an ear
Mar 3, 2016 11:32 AM - Mike Kelly: HSC cam is supposedly good

Mar 3, 2016 11:32 AM - Mike Kelly: i guess it's free if you own solidworks
Mar 3, 2016 11:32 AM - Mike Kelly: so someone told me
Mar 3, 2016 11:33 AM - Mike Glass: own or aquired?
Mar 3, 2016 11:33 AM - Mike Kelly: i've made it all the way to H on checking in parts
    Mar 3, 2016 11:33 AM - Mike Kelly: Own
    Mar 3, 2016 11:33 AM - Mike Kelly: though i don't know
Mar 3, 2016 11:33 AM - Mike Kelly: like with anything, if there's a will
Mar 3, 2016 11:34 AM - Schlomo: Lol our IT guy in the office just came up to me asking what i've been downloading that is killing all the bandwidth
Mar 3, 2016 11:35 AM - Schlomo: which, other than this chat and Pandora radio i dont usually do much at work on the internet besides the occasional youtube video
Mar 3, 2016 11:35 AM - Schlomo: looks like they're having network problems that are not related to my PC, but their analysis tools are telling them its me somehow because they're pushing files to my PC
Mar 3, 2016 11:36 AM - Schlomo: besides the 2.5gig file I had to upload to our SFTP server this morning
    Mar 3, 2016 11:36 AM - danzca6: 2.5 gb, that's a lot of porn
Mar 3, 2016 11:36 AM - Schlomo: Basically said Yep, haven't done anything different in the past year and a half of me being here, why is this a problem today? lol
Mar 3, 2016 11:37 AM - Mike Kelly: probably 1 4k would be that big
Mar 3, 2016 11:38 AM - Schlomo: lol this pc cant handle 4k
Mar 3, 2016 11:38 AM - Schlomo: my pc at home can barely do 4k without stuttering
    Mar 3, 2016 11:38 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm waiting on 4k
Mar 3, 2016 11:39 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm not convinced 4k will be the next jump
    Mar 3, 2016 11:39 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm thinking 4k is the 720p equivalent
Mar 3, 2016 11:39 AM - Mike Kelly: and that 5k will be the 1080p
Mar 3, 2016 11:39 AM - Schlomo: like the blueray/hd dvd thing huh?
Mar 3, 2016 11:39 AM - Schlomo: just wait till 5k comes out and get 4k for really cheap
Mar 3, 2016 11:40 AM - Mike Kelly: i mean 5k already exists, just not very popular atm
Mar 3, 2016 11:40 AM - Schlomo: the even funnier thing about all this, is that they're saying i was using the most bandwidth this whole week
Mar 3, 2016 11:40 AM - Schlomo: while I was on site at a customer all day Tuesday and Wednesday
Mar 3, 2016 11:40 AM - Schlomo: this is the first day back in the office
    Mar 3, 2016 11:40 AM - Schlomo: so..
Mar 3, 2016 11:41 AM - Schlomo: they ended up pinpointing it down to their side
Mar 3, 2016 11:41 AM - Schlomo: i guess they're pushing a bunch of updates or something to everyones PC
    Mar 3, 2016 11:42 AM - Mike Kelly: hahaha
    Mar 3, 2016 11:42 AM - Mike Kelly: geniuses
Mar 3, 2016 11:42 AM - Schlomo: i mean, i know i use more bandwidth than most, but it was showing me as 30% of our total bandwidth usage today
Mar 3, 2016 11:43 AM - Schlomo: so now im monitoring my network activity in windows lol
Mar 3, 2016 11:43 AM - Schlomo: everything seems normal to me
Mar 3, 2016 11:44 AM - Mike Kelly: we added you to our F@H team while you were out
Mar 3, 2016 11:44 AM - Mike Kelly: sorry about that
Mar 3, 2016 11:44 AM - Schlomo: what is that?
    Mar 3, 2016 11:44 AM - Schlomo: oh
Mar 3, 2016 11:44 AM - Schlomo: folding at home
    Mar 3, 2016 11:44 AM - Schlomo: lol
Mar 3, 2016 11:49 AM - Mike Glass: Have you seen the lastest results MK
    Mar 3, 2016 11:50 AM - Mike Glass: we broke 10 million
    Mar 3, 2016 11:50 AM - Mike Kelly: sweet
Mar 3, 2016 11:50 AM - Mike Kelly: i should check my progress
Mar 3, 2016 11:51 AM - Mike Kelly: whats your number at MG?
    Mar 3, 2016 11:52 AM - Mike Glass: 4.3 million
Mar 3, 2016 11:53 AM - danzca6: mine stopped working with windows 10 and I haven't gone back to fix it yet
    Mar 3, 2016 11:53 AM - Mike Kelly: Daniel are you using a PT100?
Mar 3, 2016 11:55 AM - Mike Glass: 1190 WU so far. I need to add some more processors..
Mar 3, 2016 11:56 AM - Mike Kelly: whoa daniel you're doing a 6x6 grid? that must take some time to level
Mar 3, 2016 11:59 AM - Mike Kelly: nothings jumping out to me as wrong with your firmware daniel
Mar 3, 2016 12:04 PM - Mike Kelly: "I have never spent a dollar on software" nor do they pirate, must be a serious linux user...
Mar 3, 2016 12:10 PM - Mike Glass: I just hack into other peoples machines and use their software..lol
Mar 3, 2016 12:13 PM - Mike Glass: I model most of my stuff on MK's pc
Mar 3, 2016 12:15 PM - Mike Kelly: so that's why i keep coming back to such bad designs
Mar 3, 2016 12:17 PM - WheresWaldo: MK you been back to the software thread, why not recommend he buy a Printrbot Play, or maybe a Tiko
Mar 3, 2016 12:22 PM - Mike Glass: buhahaha funny
Mar 3, 2016 12:23 PM - WheresWaldo: I am not sure why anyone bothers to convince people determined to rid themselves of their "bad" Robo. Just let them go happily.
Mar 3, 2016 12:26 PM - Mike Kelly: he's a know nothing that knows everything
Mar 3, 2016 12:26 PM - WheresWaldo: That conversation got out of hand quickly.
Mar 3, 2016 12:26 PM - Mike Kelly: he can enjoy his chinese printer all the way till he takes a bat to it
Mar 3, 2016 12:26 PM - Mike Kelly: maybe he'll get the monoprice I3 like dan has
Mar 3, 2016 12:26 PM - Mike Kelly: and realize the software for almost every printer is identical
Mar 3, 2016 12:27 PM - Mike Kelly: or maybe he'll go to an M3D
Mar 3, 2016 12:27 PM - Mike Kelly: and hate life even more using their crummy software
Mar 3, 2016 12:27 PM - WheresWaldo: After his response, I already pegged him with the 80/20 rule.
    Mar 3, 2016 12:28 PM - danzca6: WOW
    Mar 3, 2016 12:28 PM - danzca6: some peoples children
Mar 3, 2016 12:28 PM - WheresWaldo: 80% of your problems come from just 20% of your customers.
    Mar 3, 2016 12:29 PM - Mike Kelly: i think it's more like 99%/1% on that one
Mar 3, 2016 12:29 PM - Mike Kelly: alright I made it to M, i think that means it's time for a break
Mar 3, 2016 12:30 PM - WheresWaldo: Yeah lol. We actually had one customer that we offered to uninstall all our software if they went with another vendor, we even recommended the vendor. :D
Mar 3, 2016 12:31 PM - danzca6: so, won't spend money on software, or except that free alternatives are fine, so sell at a lose...Makes sense to somebody out there, but not me
Mar 3, 2016 12:35 PM - WheresWaldo: Crap, just broke the cap of my fountain pen! Now to see if I can purchase just the cap.
    Mar 3, 2016 12:37 PM - BryZad: Print a new cap
Mar 3, 2016 12:39 PM - WheresWaldo: Not the aesthetic I am needing.
Mar 3, 2016 12:41 PM - Mike Glass: buy a real printer to print said cap.
    Mar 3, 2016 12:41 PM - WheresWaldo: Mattel ???
Mar 3, 2016 12:42 PM - daniel871: Yeah, I'm going the 6 x 6 setup to compensate for a less-than-stellar application of the adhesive on the back of the PEI sheet I have on the glass bed.
    Mar 3, 2016 12:42 PM - Mike Glass: or at least a Form2
Mar 3, 2016 12:42 PM - danzca6: little sanding and some paint, it could look real nice
    Mar 3, 2016 12:42 PM - daniel871: Sorry, got side-tracked by upper management for a minute there.
Mar 3, 2016 12:42 PM - WheresWaldo: Spend 3500 on a $10 cap, then complain that I need to spend 150 on S3D to make it work.
    Mar 3, 2016 12:42 PM - danzca6: pfft..hate when work gets in the way ;)
Mar 3, 2016 12:43 PM - daniel871: I'm not using a PT100 yet, but I have one on order and figure I'll go ahead and add it when I open the Robo up to tune up the PSU and replace the clogged hexagon.
Mar 3, 2016 12:44 PM - daniel871: Re-flash the firmware, run PID tuning & the mesh bed leveling + M500 again, then try again.
    Mar 3, 2016 12:45 PM - WheresWaldo: Hey Daniel since you're here, need an opinion GTX980 or R9 390?
    Mar 3, 2016 12:46 PM - WheresWaldo: Can't afford the Ti or X versions
    Mar 3, 2016 12:46 PM - daniel871: I lean toward Nvidia for video cards.
Mar 3, 2016 12:46 PM - WheresWaldo: history or real differences?
Mar 3, 2016 12:46 PM - daniel871: But it's just a preference and not really based on any hard evidence of one brand being better than the other.
Mar 3, 2016 12:47 PM - daniel871: Also I can get cards that have comparable specs on paper for a lower price usually.
Mar 3, 2016 12:48 PM - daniel871: My current graphics card at work and at home is an Nvidia K2000 though, which is a workstation card for CAD/CAM and not specifically designed for gaming (though it seems to handle everything I throw at it fairly well).
Mar 3, 2016 12:48 PM - WheresWaldo: I have a GTX760, but leaning toward the R9 right now as I now have a freesync monitor.
Mar 3, 2016 12:49 PM - daniel871: Plus I don't really have the income to push for the bleeding edge of graphics cards/monitors/etc.
Mar 3, 2016 12:49 PM - WheresWaldo: I used to use a lot of Matrox cards when I was doing almost all CAD stuff, but now it is just a small part of my computing.
    Mar 3, 2016 12:51 PM - danzca6: I give up
    Mar 3, 2016 12:53 PM - daniel871: Give up on what?
Mar 3, 2016 12:54 PM - WheresWaldo: So the Robo is the ferrari of the 3D printer market????? What????

    Mar 3, 2016 12:56 PM - daniel871: The Tesla?
Mar 3, 2016 12:56 PM - danzca6: trying to make people happy is exhausting
    Mar 3, 2016 12:56 PM - daniel871: Yeah I never bother with that.
Mar 3, 2016 12:57 PM - WheresWaldo: I gave up after the first response, there was no reason to continue. When someone tells you they are an asshole, you should take them at their word and not try to convince them otherwise.
Mar 3, 2016 12:58 PM - Mike Kelly: they may consider themselves that lol
Mar 3, 2016 12:58 PM - Mike Kelly: the ferrari americano maybe
Mar 3, 2016 12:58 PM - Mike Kelly: some peoples sense of entitlement is off the charts
Mar 3, 2016 12:58 PM - Mike Kelly: ehrmehgerd i paid EIGHT HUNDED DOLLAS FOR DIS
    Mar 3, 2016 12:59 PM - Mike Kelly: can't please everyone i guess
Mar 3, 2016 1:00 PM - WheresWaldo: Just one more person to add to your ignore list.
Mar 3, 2016 1:00 PM - danzca6: So...wonder what he will sell it for on ebay
    Mar 3, 2016 1:00 PM - danzca6: maybe I'll offer $400
Mar 3, 2016 1:00 PM - WheresWaldo: maybe you can pick it up for cheap
Mar 3, 2016 1:00 PM - danzca6: take a ferrari off the lot and see how it deprciates
Mar 3, 2016 1:01 PM - Mike Kelly: wait till it breaks down too
Mar 3, 2016 1:01 PM - Mike Kelly: still makes me laugh that he decided to use ferrari in his analogy
    Mar 3, 2016 1:01 PM - Mike Kelly: like
Mar 3, 2016 1:01 PM - Mike Kelly: of all the price ranges
    Mar 3, 2016 1:01 PM - danzca6: I couldn't even afford the oil change
Mar 3, 2016 1:02 PM - Mike Kelly: he even admitted to the 2k prices being too high
Mar 3, 2016 1:02 PM - Mike Kelly: i wonder what he'd compare those as
Mar 3, 2016 1:02 PM - Mike Kelly: must be the veyron, like WheresWaldo already said
Mar 3, 2016 1:02 PM - Mike Kelly: or some other super exotic
Mar 3, 2016 1:02 PM - WheresWaldo: Mike I already said that like 5 minutes ago
    Mar 3, 2016 1:02 PM - Mike Kelly: yes i know i'm copying
    Mar 3, 2016 1:02 PM - Mike Kelly: ;)
    Mar 3, 2016 1:03 PM - WheresWaldo: lol
    Mar 3, 2016 1:03 PM - Mike Kelly: looks like i've done 1.5mil for F@H
Mar 3, 2016 1:04 PM - Mike Kelly: do i play some rocket league or work on the printer i'm selling
Mar 3, 2016 1:04 PM - daniel871: Where is the Robo griping conversation at?
    Mar 3, 2016 1:05 PM - danzca6: lead the way sir
    Mar 3, 2016 1:05 PM - WheresWaldo: http://community.robo3d.com/index.p...end-a-slicer-that-is-not-s3d.7930/#post-69199
Mar 3, 2016 1:06 PM - danzca6: read it from the beginning through...got to get the full flavor
Mar 3, 2016 1:06 PM - WheresWaldo: Sorry, link was to last post I read.
Mar 3, 2016 1:13 PM - daniel871: Yeah, guy is a crybaby, but he's not wrong about the disconnect/learning curve/surprise someone will feel if they buy a product like the Robo and take literally all of the marketing for it at face value.
Mar 3, 2016 1:13 PM - daniel871: I still laugh at Robo having laser-etched parts as an example of a 3d printed part.
Mar 3, 2016 1:14 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah i like that they post pictures of prints from other printers
Mar 3, 2016 1:14 PM - Mike Kelly: with the other printer clearly being in the picture
Mar 3, 2016 1:15 PM - daniel871: Note the laser-engraved cutting boards on the bottom right.
    Mar 3, 2016 1:15 PM - daniel871: [IMG]
Mar 3, 2016 1:16 PM - Mike Kelly: lmao fantastic
Mar 3, 2016 1:16 PM - daniel871: The thingiverse listing for which literally says it's for a laser engraver, if you look it up.
Mar 3, 2016 1:17 PM - Mike Kelly: Robo3d's just zis guy, yaknow?
Mar 3, 2016 1:17 PM - daniel871: LOL, the actual website has a direct link to the listing.
    Mar 3, 2016 1:17 PM - daniel871: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:14650
    Mar 3, 2016 1:18 PM - daniel871: Posted a smartass comment a while back on that listing. :p
Mar 3, 2016 1:19 PM - Mike Kelly: lol they try i guess
Mar 3, 2016 1:19 PM - Mike Kelly: they definitely went down a path i don't support but yeah
    Mar 3, 2016 1:24 PM - Mike Glass: I do..lol
    Mar 3, 2016 1:25 PM - danzca6: didn't you hear...the R2+ is going to have a laser
    Mar 3, 2016 1:26 PM - danzca6: or was that the R2 +Plus
Mar 3, 2016 1:27 PM - danzca6: so...would that be a copyright issue that they are using someone elses images on an advertisement without consent
Mar 3, 2016 1:28 PM - Mike Kelly: not if they pay attribution
    Mar 3, 2016 1:28 PM - danzca6: sorry, bringing up that whole topic again...haha
Mar 3, 2016 1:29 PM - Mike Kelly: eh just3dprint had their seller rights revoked so they got theirs
Mar 3, 2016 1:30 PM - danzca6: until they register under a new name and account and pull the same ol thing
Mar 3, 2016 1:30 PM - WheresWaldo: Yeah they didn't last long, and their arrogance was something to see, according to the article on 3ders.org
Mar 3, 2016 1:31 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah their arrogance was one for the record books
Mar 3, 2016 1:32 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah but dan then they have no seller rating
Mar 3, 2016 1:32 PM - danzca6: they could build that up pretty quick
Mar 3, 2016 1:33 PM - WheresWaldo: As soon as they put stuff up for sale, someone will report them, and it starts all over again.
    Mar 3, 2016 1:33 PM - Mike Kelly: yup
Mar 3, 2016 1:33 PM - Mike Kelly: more will come, but it's the broken window theory
Mar 3, 2016 1:33 PM - Mike Kelly: leave one broken window and suddenly they're all destroyed
Mar 3, 2016 1:34 PM - danzca6: it at least shined a light on the issue and hopefully more awareness will help snuff out other acts of ignorance like this
    Mar 3, 2016 1:37 PM - Mike Kelly: http://www.knowable.com/a/20-more-w...2&tse_id=INF_c406551a5af84642b0994f86b0be13eb
Mar 3, 2016 1:38 PM - Mike Kelly: it also makes me laugh there's websites that take AskReddit questions and repost them as the top answers
Mar 3, 2016 1:43 PM - danzca6: daniel, you need to contact monoprice and get a referral bonus going...haha
    Mar 3, 2016 1:44 PM - Mike Kelly: seriously
Mar 3, 2016 1:44 PM - Mike Kelly: robo should pay him NOT to talk about their printers ;)
    Mar 3, 2016 1:44 PM - danzca6: hahaha
Mar 3, 2016 1:45 PM - Mike Kelly: *sigh* guess i should go back to work
Mar 3, 2016 1:45 PM - danzca6: I want you through the R's before you go home tonight
Mar 3, 2016 1:46 PM - danzca6: then you can leave and say "Rrrrrr I'm done for the day!"
    Mar 3, 2016 1:46 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm thinking I can finish before 5 but there's a lot of M's and P's sooo
Mar 3, 2016 1:49 PM - danzca6: we had someone givee their 2 weeks so then their last day was the day of a major go live. Barely stayed to see the system go back online and we had to back out most of their work since they didn't test it properly and didn't work. At least you are putting in the effort to not leave a crap storm for those that remain.
Mar 3, 2016 1:53 PM - WheresWaldo: Yeah, my fountain pen cap was replaced just for the cost of shipping, I have had that thing for four years.
    Mar 3, 2016 1:54 PM - danzca6: should we play taps
Mar 3, 2016 1:55 PM - danzca6: hard to put that into text though
    Mar 3, 2016 1:55 PM - danzca6: haha
    Mar 3, 2016 1:57 PM - danzca6: uh oh....everyone behave...Harry is online....Evening Harry!
    Mar 3, 2016 2:03 PM - Mike Kelly: lol
    Mar 3, 2016 2:04 PM - Mike Kelly: it's the fuzz!
Mar 3, 2016 2:04 PM - Mike Kelly: the once a week "check to see if the server is still operational" login
Mar 3, 2016 2:25 PM - Mike Kelly: @daniel871 I just saw that your Z steps are set to 400, like mine, and it should be 800 for the R1+ with TR8*4
    Mar 3, 2016 2:25 PM - Mike Kelly: i guess waldo uses TR8*8
    Mar 3, 2016 3:05 PM - jbigler1986: That would be an issue
    Mar 3, 2016 3:05 PM - jbigler1986: Mine are 400 as well
    Mar 3, 2016 3:11 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah
Mar 3, 2016 3:11 PM - Mike Kelly: probably why he's seeing what he's seeing
Mar 3, 2016 3:11 PM - Mike Kelly: he's lowering it to the bed, then it's going up half way to 4, then repeats
    Mar 3, 2016 3:11 PM - Mike Kelly: especially with a 6x6 grid
    Mar 3, 2016 3:16 PM - jbigler1986: Ouch
    Mar 3, 2016 3:16 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah bad things will happen
    Mar 3, 2016 3:17 PM - jbigler1986: When are you moving
    Mar 3, 2016 3:18 PM - Mike Kelly: fuck if i know
Mar 3, 2016 3:18 PM - Mike Kelly: i think i'm going to go up on the 16th to move into a temp appartment
Mar 3, 2016 3:18 PM - Mike Kelly: before MRRF
Mar 3, 2016 3:33 PM - jbigler1986: Damn. That sucks. Hopefully you get it figured out soon. I'm sure it's stressful

    Mar 3, 2016 6:54 PM - BryZad: [IMG]
Mar 3, 2016 6:55 PM - BryZad: waiting on fasteners to show up to get assembling Bb-8 Body
    Mar 3, 2016 6:56 PM - danzca6: AAAHHHHH! He's naked!
Mar 3, 2016 6:57 PM - BryZad: and no guts yet either the drive system is not in the pic
    Mar 3, 2016 6:57 PM - danzca6: It's an abomination
    Mar 3, 2016 6:57 PM - danzca6: haha
    Mar 3, 2016 6:57 PM - danzca6: looks good Bry
Mar 3, 2016 6:59 PM - BryZad: happy so far the 27 hour print has 10 left and chugging away
Mar 3, 2016 7:00 PM - danzca6: I bet Robo will feature it on Facebook when you get-r-done
Mar 3, 2016 7:00 PM - danzca6: you might even get a ticket to CES
Mar 3, 2016 7:03 PM - danzca6: maybe I'm putting the cart before the horse
Mar 3, 2016 7:07 PM - Mike Kelly: our house is on the market tomorrow
Mar 3, 2016 7:08 PM - Mike Kelly: we think it will sell real fast
Mar 3, 2016 7:09 PM - BryZad: Hey he should be awesome when done
Mar 3, 2016 7:10 PM - BryZad: Oooo exciting loo
    Mar 3, 2016 7:11 PM - Mike Kelly: nice bb-8
Mar 3, 2016 7:12 PM - BryZad: Just got to wait on incerts to show up from China to start attaching the outer body panels on
Mar 3, 2016 7:19 PM - danzca6: We have 3 houses on our street that went up on the market this week. One is already sold after a few days. So hopefully yours will go like that.
Mar 3, 2016 7:29 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah the market here is crazy
Mar 3, 2016 7:29 PM - danzca6: getting the house under contract will be a big relief in this adventure
Mar 3, 2016 7:56 PM - danzca6: MG, MK...where did you source the spring for the anti backlash on the Z of the MPCNC? Ryan has them for 25 cents, but over $6 for S&H. I've been looking all over both local and online and haven't found the correct size

Mar 3, 2016 9:20 PM - danzca6: ok, thanks...there is one on the other side of town. I will take a look tomorrow.
Mar 3, 2016 9:21 PM - Mike Kelly: not sure how far that is...
    Mar 3, 2016 9:23 PM - danzca6: oh, not far really
Mar 3, 2016 9:26 PM - danzca6: I should have just bought ryan's hardware kit for all the time I've spent sourcing the best deal
Mar 3, 2016 9:26 PM - Mike Kelly: harbor freight has like a whole thing of springs
    Mar 3, 2016 9:26 PM - Mike Kelly: i didn't need it
    Mar 3, 2016 9:26 PM - Mike Kelly: but i bought it...
    Mar 3, 2016 9:27 PM - danzca6: oh...I didn't even look there...I was just there this weekend too
Mar 3, 2016 9:27 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm not sure they'd have one that fits over a 8mm rod but maybe
Mar 3, 2016 9:28 PM - danzca6: worth a try...I'll find something there either way to buy...always leave there with something I think I need
    Mar 3, 2016 9:28 PM - danzca6: thanks
Mar 3, 2016 9:28 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah HF is a dangerous place
Mar 3, 2016 9:29 PM - Mike Kelly: that's why we have an extension chainsaw we've never opened
Mar 3, 2016 9:29 PM - Mike Kelly: and an airgun for painting my bigbox i've never opened...
Mar 3, 2016 9:31 PM - danzca6: at least I will get another LED light or scissors while I'm there...free without purchase is just too tempting
    Mar 3, 2016 9:32 PM - Mike Kelly: i thought you needed a purchase
Mar 3, 2016 9:32 PM - Mike Kelly: either way buy a razor blade near the checkout, like $0.79
Mar 3, 2016 9:33 PM - danzca6: they have some coupons that do and some that don't
Mar 3, 2016 9:35 PM - Mike Kelly: hmm i guess i've never paid enough attention
Mar 3, 2016 9:36 PM - danzca6: they have coupons from all sorts of sources...normally the ones in magazines are without purchase
Mar 3, 2016 9:39 PM - danzca6: hmmm, this one is close. 1/8" longer and a hair stiffer than what ryan has in his specs http://www.acehardware.com/product/index.jsp?productId=29333466
Mar 3, 2016 9:40 PM - danzca6: wonder if hannah got her machine working today
Mar 3, 2016 9:40 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah that one's not great but you can cut them
Mar 3, 2016 9:41 PM - Mike Kelly: i hope she did a skype call
Mar 3, 2016 9:41 PM - danzca6: with shipping, a loose connection like you mentioned is very possible
Mar 3, 2016 9:41 PM - danzca6: sucks to see folks get machines with issues like that on delivery
    Mar 3, 2016 9:42 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah
Mar 3, 2016 9:42 PM - Mike Kelly: had to help a guy who while installing his E3D v6s in his bigbox dual, tightened the heater block all the way to the heatsink
Mar 3, 2016 9:42 PM - Mike Kelly: good thing it only got to like 90C
Mar 3, 2016 9:42 PM - Mike Kelly: which was a user error but still
    Mar 3, 2016 9:44 PM - danzca6: oops

Mar 3, 2016 9:46 PM - Mike Kelly: go big or go home eh?
Mar 3, 2016 9:46 PM - Schlomo: put it back on, and it wouldnt tighten the nozzle against the heat break.. Heated it up, still no dice. Twisted a little more, sheared the nozzle off
    Mar 3, 2016 9:46 PM - Schlomo: FUCK
Mar 3, 2016 9:46 PM - Schlomo: took the hot end off, heat break came out also.
Mar 3, 2016 9:47 PM - Schlomo: couldn't get the heat break out of the volcano hotend

    Mar 3, 2016 9:48 PM - danzca6: I don't know...that is normally a good night for me
Mar 3, 2016 9:48 PM - Schlomo: you got me there
Mar 3, 2016 9:48 PM - Schlomo: but im still pissed
    Mar 3, 2016 9:49 PM - danzca6: I can believe it...
Mar 3, 2016 9:50 PM - danzca6: well, here is to better luck with the V6
Mar 3, 2016 9:50 PM - Schlomo: what size nozzle do you guys print with?
    Mar 3, 2016 9:51 PM - danzca6: I just have the stock .4
Mar 3, 2016 9:52 PM - danzca6: doing fills and such I think you should be bigger than that though
Mar 3, 2016 9:53 PM - Schlomo: im just concerned something like a 0.6mm or 0.8mm nozzle wont do well on the stock v6 and would be better in the volcano
Mar 3, 2016 9:53 PM - Schlomo: not sure if my Bondtech would care or not
Mar 3, 2016 9:54 PM - danzca6: Just do what Bob would do...baby steps, baby steps
    Mar 3, 2016 9:55 PM - danzca6: I would think a .6 would be fine with the stock v6, but haven't tried it
    Mar 3, 2016 9:56 PM - danzca6: maybe mike has
    Mar 3, 2016 9:56 PM - Mike Kelly: i did a .6 worked fine
    Mar 3, 2016 9:56 PM - Mike Kelly: .4mm layers
Mar 3, 2016 9:56 PM - Mike Kelly: was nice
Mar 3, 2016 9:56 PM - Mike Kelly: .25mm nozzles are the worst
    Mar 3, 2016 9:56 PM - Mike Kelly: ugh
Mar 3, 2016 9:57 PM - danzca6: gotta go super slow with that small right
    Mar 3, 2016 9:57 PM - Mike Kelly: yup
Mar 3, 2016 9:57 PM - Mike Kelly: just not worth it
Mar 3, 2016 9:57 PM - Schlomo: well imm going to try 0.6 on the v6
    Mar 3, 2016 9:57 PM - Schlomo: hope i have no issues
Mar 3, 2016 9:57 PM - Schlomo: but, alas i have to wait until it comes in the mmail
    Mar 3, 2016 9:57 PM - Mike Kelly: bummer
Mar 3, 2016 9:58 PM - danzca6: just watch your strength this time hercules
Mar 3, 2016 9:58 PM - Mike Kelly: i should have done some work but...
    Mar 3, 2016 9:58 PM - Schlomo: lol seriously
Mar 3, 2016 9:58 PM - Schlomo: ugh so frustrating
Mar 3, 2016 9:59 PM - Mike Kelly: only time i stripped a nozzle was on my cyclops
Mar 3, 2016 9:59 PM - Mike Kelly: stupid aluminum...
Mar 3, 2016 10:01 PM - BryZad: I think I am going to need a new heat sink cause the treads arnt griping anymore
    Mar 3, 2016 10:02 PM - BryZad: Or.would Teflon tape work ?
Mar 3, 2016 10:03 PM - danzca6: I've heard of them using thermal compound, but not teflon...and that wasn't for damaged threads, just better heat dispersion
Mar 3, 2016 10:03 PM - BryZad: Whoot the insert supposedly have shipped out
    Mar 3, 2016 10:04 PM - danzca6: where did you buy from
    Mar 3, 2016 10:09 PM - BryZad: EBay
Mar 3, 2016 10:09 PM - BryZad: There being shipped from China
Mar 3, 2016 10:10 PM - danzca6: hmmm...then not going to be here this weekend
    Mar 3, 2016 10:11 PM - BryZad: Nahh I got a eta date between March 9-23 lol
Mar 4, 2016 1:59 AM - jbigler1986: .8 nozzle is fine on the v6. Have used it several times
Mar 4, 2016 2:51 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Allo humans, synths, and bots.
Mar 4, 2016 4:06 AM - daniel871: Pretty sure I said a while back when Schlomo was talking about the Volcano to never use Laywood with it.
Mar 4, 2016 4:08 AM - daniel871: The fibers in it will eventually build up in the long melt zone and start hardening/cooking until you get the mother of all clogs.
Mar 4, 2016 4:09 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Right-o, when I'm done with this giant bunch of prints I am going to finally clean my damn printer. The tiny bits of filament and cat hair and hairspray and dust have gotten a bit too much to tolerate anymore.
    Mar 4, 2016 4:09 AM - daniel871: Cat hair?
Mar 4, 2016 4:09 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Probably some dog hair too
Mar 4, 2016 4:09 AM - Bill Monroe: goooooood morning
Mar 4, 2016 4:11 AM - AutopsyTurvy: I haven't actually cleaned off the glass in.......... well. I know I cleaned it once? Like a year and a half ago?
Mar 4, 2016 4:14 AM - Bill Monroe: ewe.. icky
Mar 4, 2016 4:15 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Yeah, it's a damn mess. Still prints beautifully but it looks like hell.

Mar 4, 2016 4:17 AM - Bill Monroe: sounds like my ex wife
Mar 4, 2016 4:18 AM - AutopsyTurvy: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1363023 ... gonna try printing this thing, just for kicks, while designing yet another set of belt buckles. only thing I anticipate any problems with at all is that real long bridge
Mar 4, 2016 4:21 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Might get interesting on a couple of those extreme overhangs too
    Mar 4, 2016 4:50 AM - daniel871: Supports?
    Mar 4, 2016 4:50 AM - daniel871:
Mar 4, 2016 4:54 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Deliberately printing without supports. I already know 65 degrees is the limit for overhang with the PLA I use.
    Mar 4, 2016 4:54 AM - Bill Monroe:
Mar 4, 2016 5:08 AM - JeffTheMess: morning roboneers, happy Friday
    Mar 4, 2016 5:08 AM - Bill Monroe: Jeff
Mar 4, 2016 5:10 AM - JeffTheMess: hows the friday treating you bill
Mar 4, 2016 5:11 AM - Bill Monroe: dont know yet.. just started :)
Mar 4, 2016 5:11 AM - Bill Monroe: an you?
    Mar 4, 2016 5:11 AM - JeffTheMess: meh
Mar 4, 2016 5:13 AM - Bill Monroe: i'm editing some video of the machine I've been working on
Mar 4, 2016 5:15 AM - JeffTheMess: for show and tell here on the chatroom?
Mar 4, 2016 5:20 AM - Bill Monroe: i'll put it somewhere it can be seen
Mar 4, 2016 5:20 AM - Bill Monroe: i didnt take the video.. just putting all the iphone shots together and rotating them rightside up :)
Mar 4, 2016 5:25 AM - Bill Monroe: a pro is coming in later this year to do a proper vid
    Mar 4, 2016 5:42 AM - Bill Monroe: https://www.dropbox.com/s/9kdntqmmlhhw6o7/11026 Port Tube Station.mp4?dl=0
Mar 4, 2016 5:53 AM - daniel871: Monoprice is running that $20 off orders of $100 or more thing again with code "20MAR" at checkout for anyone wanting to knock $20 off that i3 clone.
Mar 4, 2016 5:54 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Aww yeah, I could kiss my printer. Besides a little bit of stringing here and there (mostly due to that filament - I have to print that colour quite hot to get the layers to fuse well) it's nearly done that test object and it's gorgeous.
Mar 4, 2016 6:13 AM - danzca6: you would kiss that dirty printer?
    Mar 4, 2016 6:14 AM - danzca6: Morning all
    Mar 4, 2016 6:15 AM - danzca6: $329 is tempting for a second machine daniel
    Mar 4, 2016 6:17 AM - daniel871: I know.
    Mar 4, 2016 6:17 AM - daniel871: Do it.
    Mar 4, 2016 6:18 AM - JeffTheMess:
Mar 4, 2016 6:18 AM - daniel871: Look, if I've been happy with how little effort it takes to make this thing print stuff that looks better than anything I've got from an R1, that should be endorsement enough to get it and try it out. You can return it within 15 days if you hate it anyway.
Mar 4, 2016 6:18 AM - JeffTheMess: you apple people
    Mar 4, 2016 6:18 AM - AutopsyTurvy: I've kissed far dirtier.
    Mar 4, 2016 6:19 AM - danzca6: doh!
Mar 4, 2016 6:21 AM - daniel871: Who uses a headphone jack on their phone?
    Mar 4, 2016 6:21 AM - danzca6: <-
    Mar 4, 2016 6:21 AM - danzca6: want to go BT though
    Mar 4, 2016 6:21 AM - JeffTheMess: 99% of people
Mar 4, 2016 6:21 AM - daniel871: I mean, I use it to connect my phone to my car stereo system. But for actual talking I hold the phone like a normal person.
    Mar 4, 2016 6:22 AM - danzca6: I hate wired ear bud
Mar 4, 2016 6:22 AM - danzca6: always tangled and getting in the way when listening
Mar 4, 2016 6:22 AM - AutopsyTurvy: I used to use the headphone jack, but I use my phone to play music and as a fitness tracker when I run and I hate having a flappy cord hitting me in the arm, so I use bluetooth headphones.
    Mar 4, 2016 6:23 AM - Bill Monroe: <-- Sennheiser wireless headphones
Mar 4, 2016 6:23 AM - AutopsyTurvy: (Also use them with my laptop as it fell once on the headphone jack and bent the headphones and the jack all to hell)
Mar 4, 2016 6:23 AM - danzca6: which ones do you use? I am thinking of buying some tonight
Mar 4, 2016 6:23 AM - daniel871: The only downside to bluetooth is that good headphones/ear pieces that don't drop the connection with the vibrations that come from running are expensive.
Mar 4, 2016 6:24 AM - daniel871: Or they were the last time I looked for one.
    Mar 4, 2016 6:24 AM - Bill Monroe: http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-RS...457101243&sr=8-2&keywords=sennheiser+wireless
Mar 4, 2016 6:25 AM - AutopsyTurvy: http://www.jamaudio.com/jam-transit-bluetooth-headphones ... these are the ones I use. They don't have a great range but they don't drop connection when running, ever.
Mar 4, 2016 6:25 AM - daniel871: *listening to music while jogging* "Beep beep, connection lost" *next step* "Beep Beep, connected" *music picks up however many seconds later*
Mar 4, 2016 6:26 AM - AutopsyTurvy: And if they do lose connection from range issues, there's no beeping, it just sounds like a skippy CD for a few seconds till I remember I left my phone downstairs and go get it.
    Mar 4, 2016 6:26 AM - danzca6: those are big...I was thinking ear buds...hmmm
    Mar 4, 2016 6:26 AM - daniel871: me too.
Mar 4, 2016 6:26 AM - daniel871: I like to keep one ear open so I can still hear approaching cars/etc.
Mar 4, 2016 6:26 AM - danzca6: you don't want to be one of those zombies on the bike paths?
Mar 4, 2016 6:26 AM - AutopsyTurvy: I just keep the volume low enough. I find the wind sounds from not having my ear enclosed is more annoying than having to keep the volume low.
Mar 4, 2016 6:27 AM - Bill Monroe: for jogging, only solid state will do
Mar 4, 2016 6:27 AM - AutopsyTurvy: I mostly run in forested areas so I just have to watch out for occasional bikes, dogs, and cows.
Mar 4, 2016 6:28 AM - Bill Monroe: and unless you jog like a fairy, some aggressive clamping force is required
Mar 4, 2016 6:28 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Well, I mean, of course I run like a sparkly fairy princess, but these are remarkably comfortable. I never had luck with earbuds - always ended up with sore ears trying to keep the damn things from falling out.
    Mar 4, 2016 6:29 AM - danzca6: I find a dab of glue does just fine
Mar 4, 2016 6:29 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Even the kind that hook over your ears never worked for me. But these are fine even when wearing earrings and glasses.
    Mar 4, 2016 6:29 AM - danzca6: hehe
Mar 4, 2016 6:30 AM - Bill Monroe: I bike ride.. knees cant handle the impact anymore
Mar 4, 2016 6:31 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Bike riding definitely built me up to the point I could run. Though my bike is a giant cargo trike. Dutch minivan. :D
    Mar 4, 2016 6:32 AM - Bill Monroe: I have a Schwinn :)
    Mar 4, 2016 6:32 AM - danzca6: ever use a recumbant?
    Mar 4, 2016 6:32 AM - danzca6: those are awesome
Mar 4, 2016 6:33 AM - Bill Monroe: of all the things I tried for keeping healthy.. the bike worked the best by far
Mar 4, 2016 6:33 AM - daniel871: On the other hand, if your jogging pace/whatever is so impact heavy that you risk knocking an earpiece out of your ear, you're doing it wrong.
Mar 4, 2016 6:33 AM - Bill Monroe: ya,, ex-g/f had one.. torture machines
Mar 4, 2016 6:33 AM - AutopsyTurvy: I think my ears are just shaped weird.
Mar 4, 2016 6:33 AM - Bill Monroe: had to modify my carrier for it to work, way longer than most bikes
Mar 4, 2016 6:34 AM - Bill Monroe: cant take them off pavement
Mar 4, 2016 6:34 AM - danzca6: I live next to a very long trail, so no more trailer...and I go in gravel, just not mountain biking
Mar 4, 2016 6:34 AM - Bill Monroe: they're great for women wearing short-shorts though
Mar 4, 2016 6:34 AM - AutopsyTurvy: My bike on a typical Monday morning: https://scontent-amt2-1.xx.fbcdn.ne...4_10153107022701244_6746962843216605572_o.jpg
    Mar 4, 2016 6:35 AM - danzca6: ha, yeah...kids trailer became the dog trailer
Mar 4, 2016 6:35 AM - Bill Monroe: so Euro
Mar 4, 2016 6:35 AM - danzca6: I sometimes take a picnic in there as well with the fam
Mar 4, 2016 6:35 AM - Bill Monroe: I make my dog run, she needs a workout too :)
Mar 4, 2016 6:36 AM - AutopsyTurvy: It's too busy in the mornings to let her out and my bike is already almost as wide as the bike path. :) She comes with us and then when I get home we go for a walk.
Mar 4, 2016 6:36 AM - danzca6: yeah, but when doing 50+ miles, the dog with 3 in legs doesn't do too well
Mar 4, 2016 6:36 AM - Bill Monroe: mine's just a giant Golden.. she can trot along all day and loves it
    Mar 4, 2016 6:37 AM - danzca6: it's her princess coach
Mar 4, 2016 6:37 AM - AutopsyTurvy: I'd love to have a bigger dog. Gonna need a bigger house first though.
    Mar 4, 2016 6:37 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Someday I'll get another akita.
Mar 4, 2016 6:39 AM - Bill Monroe: I didnt chose her.. my sis-in-law died and we adopted her.. absolutely amazing animal
    Mar 4, 2016 6:39 AM - JeffTheMess:
    Mar 4, 2016 6:42 AM - Schlomo: Dan, don't "I told you so"
Mar 4, 2016 6:42 AM - Schlomo: but yes, you told me not to
Mar 4, 2016 6:43 AM - Schlomo: my wife wanted a phone dock/passive speaker and i wanted it out of wood lol
Mar 4, 2016 6:43 AM - Schlomo: i figured, ah Dan can't always be right.
    Mar 4, 2016 6:50 AM - Bill Monroe: [IMG]
Mar 4, 2016 6:53 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Awww, happy warm fluffs
Mar 4, 2016 6:54 AM - Bill Monroe: they do love to sleep in front of a fire
    Mar 4, 2016 6:56 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Who wouldn't? :D
    Mar 4, 2016 7:18 AM - JeffTheMess:
    Mar 4, 2016 7:18 AM - JeffTheMess: cool
Mar 4, 2016 7:53 AM - danzca6: Interesting...not exactly a reinventing of the wheel, but imagine how this could change cars with tires (balls) like these...http://www.3ders.org/articles/20160...r-with-3d-printed-spherical-tire-concept.html
    Mar 4, 2016 7:57 AM - danzca6: you could actually drive sideways...on purpose
Mar 4, 2016 7:58 AM - daniel871: Have the car spinning in circles while actually traveling in a straight line down the highway.
Mar 4, 2016 8:00 AM - danzca6: that would be awesome...it would make me puke...but still cool. Or make the cockpit so it stays in position independent from the rotation of the car. Oh hell...just make them fly already

Mar 4, 2016 8:06 AM - AutopsyTurvy: https://40.media.tumblr.com/92e2aa18b5a89092d4eaadd40dfdb9b9/tumblr_o3iv2oNgIv1udnxozo1_1280.jpg ... yaaay, time to split this thing to print it.
    Mar 4, 2016 8:09 AM - danzca6: what length is that
    Mar 4, 2016 8:10 AM - AutopsyTurvy: It'll be about 90cm total
Mar 4, 2016 8:13 AM - AutopsyTurvy: (A bit short for a longsword but I want it to be comfortable to carry and I'm not terribly tall)
Mar 4, 2016 8:21 AM - danzca6: well, hopefully they let you in the door with that...looks neat
    Mar 4, 2016 8:21 AM - Mike Kelly: morning
    Mar 4, 2016 8:21 AM - danzca6: Morning mike
    Mar 4, 2016 8:21 AM - Mike Kelly: how's everyone
    Mar 4, 2016 8:22 AM - danzca6: told the boss I'm leaving at noon...so hopefully a good Friday...shorter work day the better
    Mar 4, 2016 8:22 AM - Mike Kelly: especially on a friday
Mar 4, 2016 8:23 AM - Mike Kelly: i didn't even make it out of M's yesterday *sigh*
    Mar 4, 2016 8:24 AM - danzca6: when's your last day there?
Mar 4, 2016 8:24 AM - Mike Kelly: next friday officially
Mar 4, 2016 8:24 AM - Mike Kelly: but i don't plan on working much next week
    Mar 4, 2016 8:24 AM - danzca6: man...that's coming quick
    Mar 4, 2016 8:24 AM - JeffTheMess: thats good
    Mar 4, 2016 8:24 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah you're telling me
Mar 4, 2016 8:24 AM - Mike Kelly: i just needed some time to sort out some FSA nonsense
Mar 4, 2016 8:25 AM - Mike Kelly: we decided i'm going to fly up before MRRF and look at homes for a day or 2
    Mar 4, 2016 8:27 AM - danzca6: your wife isn't coming with?
    Mar 4, 2016 8:27 AM - Mike Kelly: she's gotta work
Mar 4, 2016 8:27 AM - Mike Kelly: i'd want her to come with but i'm not sure we can swing that
Mar 4, 2016 8:28 AM - danzca6: yeah, that would make it easier on you to go in as a team
    Mar 4, 2016 8:28 AM - Mike Kelly: definitely
Mar 4, 2016 8:28 AM - Mike Kelly: depends on how quickly we hear back on her job situation realy
Mar 4, 2016 8:29 AM - danzca6: well, you can always skype her in for tours
Mar 4, 2016 8:31 AM - JeffTheMess: sorry to be pessimistic but what happens if they say no for her job?
Mar 4, 2016 8:31 AM - danzca6: ah, mike will be making the big $$$...haha
Mar 4, 2016 8:34 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah dan i'm planning on filming my walk throughs
Mar 4, 2016 8:35 AM - daniel871: Hey, check out this HIC variant on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/HICTOP-Leveli...d=1457107786&sr=8-1&keywords=HICtop all metal
Mar 4, 2016 8:35 AM - Mike Kelly: Jeff, we actually have lost hope since they've stopped communicating with her about it
Mar 4, 2016 8:35 AM - Mike Kelly: but our friends actually got her a phone interview with an app development company
Mar 4, 2016 8:37 AM - danzca6: what kind of work does she do? Programmer?
    Mar 4, 2016 8:37 AM - Mike Kelly: admin
Mar 4, 2016 8:37 AM - Mike Kelly: she's got a general studies degree, english, history, and french
Mar 4, 2016 8:38 AM - Mike Kelly: she calls it the "I do stuff" degree
Mar 4, 2016 8:38 AM - Mike Kelly: @Daniel, did you see I think I figured out what was wrong in your firmware
Mar 4, 2016 8:38 AM - danzca6: sounds like my sister...she's a director of a library now, but that is about the same degree she got
    Mar 4, 2016 8:38 AM - JeffTheMess: lol
Mar 4, 2016 8:39 AM - JeffTheMess: I really hope it works out for the best for both of you :)
Mar 4, 2016 8:39 AM - Mike Kelly: thanks man
Mar 4, 2016 8:39 AM - Mike Kelly: her dream job is a librarian so yeah
Mar 4, 2016 8:39 AM - danzca6: I would think there has to be a lot of oppertunity for employment around there
Mar 4, 2016 8:39 AM - daniel871: Yeah, I'll change the steps on my copy for Z and see if that fixes it.
Mar 4, 2016 8:40 AM - danzca6: that hic doesn't look as nice as the mono
Mar 4, 2016 8:40 AM - daniel871: Should've seen that, but didn't check it thinking everyone was using the same leadscrews even if they weren't sourced from Robo.
Mar 4, 2016 8:41 AM - Mike Kelly: i was having the same flaw you were
Mar 4, 2016 8:41 AM - Mike Kelly: only noticed it when i tried to send a G1 Z220 and it went up halfway
Mar 4, 2016 8:41 AM - Mike Kelly: the "Oh duh" moment
Mar 4, 2016 8:43 AM - daniel871: Well, once the PT100 comes in and I have time I'll re-flash the firmware and get everything set up and give the CES Robo frame one more shot.
Mar 4, 2016 8:43 AM - Mike Kelly: do you have a connector for the PT100?
Mar 4, 2016 8:43 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm not sure it comes with one for between the ramps and amp
Mar 4, 2016 8:45 AM - daniel871: Do you need one? I need to look at the board again but the E3D documentation says you just plug it in.

Mar 4, 2016 8:47 AM - Mike Kelly: the 3 pin output to from the amp, to the 3 input pins
    Mar 4, 2016 8:47 AM - Mike Kelly: i don't know but i don't think it's included
Mar 4, 2016 8:50 AM - daniel871: What would I call it specifically searching Amazon?
    Mar 4, 2016 8:51 AM - Mike Kelly: hmm
    Mar 4, 2016 8:52 AM - Mike Kelly: http://community.robo3d.com/index.php?threads/e3d-pt100-how-to-install-and-configure.7900/ he suggests a few options
Mar 4, 2016 8:53 AM - daniel871: Okay, a bundle of single jumpers will be fine.
    Mar 4, 2016 8:53 AM - daniel871: Done.
Mar 4, 2016 8:53 AM - Mike Kelly: http://www.amazon.com/Phantom-YoYo-...110245&sr=8-1&keywords=3+pin+female+to+female this is an option but you'd have to swap one
Mar 4, 2016 8:53 AM - Mike Kelly: single is easiest
Mar 4, 2016 8:55 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm probably going to buy that connector kit he linked
    Mar 4, 2016 8:55 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm a sucker for connectors
    Mar 4, 2016 9:03 AM - Mike Kelly: http://hackaday.com/2014/01/20/a-quick-and-simple-filament-joiner-for-multi-color-prints/
    Mar 4, 2016 9:03 AM - Mike Kelly: hmm
Mar 4, 2016 9:06 AM - JeffTheMess: about time someone did something
Mar 4, 2016 9:07 AM - daniel871: Yeah, but that method requires more planning than most people are willing to do to get color changes happening in a particular spot.
Mar 4, 2016 9:08 AM - JeffTheMess: I dont even care about multiple colors, I care about that itty bity bits of filaments that isnt quite enough to print
    Mar 4, 2016 9:08 AM - Mike Kelly: ^
    Mar 4, 2016 9:08 AM - Mike Kelly: exactly
    Mar 4, 2016 9:12 AM - JeffTheMess: I need to try it
    Mar 4, 2016 9:19 AM - JeffTheMess:
    Mar 4, 2016 9:22 AM - WheresWaldo: It's lunchtime, yeah.
Mar 4, 2016 9:23 AM - JeffTheMess: that means it almost quittin' time
Mar 4, 2016 9:24 AM - danzca6: doesn that mean i have to stop eating breakfast
Mar 4, 2016 9:28 AM - Captain McGillacutty: breakfast is an all day meal
Mar 4, 2016 9:34 AM - Mike Kelly: can't drink all day if you don't start at breakfast
    Mar 4, 2016 9:34 AM - Mike Kelly: wait
    Mar 4, 2016 9:34 AM - Mike Kelly: what
    Mar 4, 2016 9:34 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Can't argue with that logic.
Mar 4, 2016 9:36 AM - WheresWaldo: So mike, Cuda70 was much nicer than the guy yesterday about to go on eBay.
    Mar 4, 2016 9:37 AM - Mike Kelly: who?
Mar 4, 2016 9:38 AM - WheresWaldo: Cuda70 is new and loves his R1++, not like the guy all you were trying to convince yeaterday.
    Mar 4, 2016 9:39 AM - Mike Kelly: ahhh
    Mar 4, 2016 9:39 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah
Mar 4, 2016 9:39 AM - Mike Kelly: that guy didn't even have his printer!
Mar 4, 2016 9:39 AM - Mike Kelly: people are so weird
Mar 4, 2016 9:39 AM - Mike Kelly: last night me and the misses went to happy hour at old chicago
Mar 4, 2016 9:39 AM - Mike Kelly: and their happy hour ends at 6
Mar 4, 2016 9:40 AM - Mike Kelly: well it's like 6:11 and we notice the table behind us starts to complain about it not being happy hour anymore
Mar 4, 2016 9:40 AM - Mike Kelly: and they're like "well the hostess told us we get happy hour prices if we get in before happy hour"
    Mar 4, 2016 9:40 AM - JeffTheMess: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phantom_vibration_syndrome this is a real thing
Mar 4, 2016 9:40 AM - Mike Kelly: thinking they just had to be in the restaurant and apparently could get happy hour for as long as they want
Mar 4, 2016 9:40 AM - Mike Kelly: really wanted to go over and smack them
Mar 4, 2016 9:41 AM - Mike Kelly: they were like 50 and never been to a happy hour before?
Mar 4, 2016 9:41 AM - WheresWaldo: What's the point of calling is a Happy Hour if its Happy All Night.
Mar 4, 2016 9:42 AM - WheresWaldo: Old people are weird, we all go to Hometown Buffet and eat at Golden Corral on Sundays so we can eat cheap.

Mar 4, 2016 9:44 AM - JeffTheMess: happy hour all night so when someone see it they think its happy hour at that moment tricking you to go grab a drink
Mar 4, 2016 9:47 AM - toymaker: oh no, my ballscrews arrived in alaska, and are now back in transit to korea
Mar 4, 2016 9:49 AM - toymaker: dammit alaska get your @#$! together
Mar 4, 2016 9:49 AM - Mike Kelly: i just don't get the hubris in thinking you're above the rules because of a dumb hostess
Mar 4, 2016 9:51 AM - toymaker: 775774254324 im not reading this wrong... fedex tracking
Mar 4, 2016 9:51 AM - danzca6: your ballscrews must have frozen in alaska
Mar 4, 2016 9:52 AM - toymaker: the left korea, arrived in alaska and now in transit back to korea
Mar 4, 2016 9:52 AM - WheresWaldo: Some people just live a very literal life, Mike, they were told one thing and made a literal interpretation of it.
    Mar 4, 2016 9:52 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah
Mar 4, 2016 9:53 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm more patient and understanding than most
Mar 4, 2016 9:53 AM - Mike Kelly: working in the food industry for 2 years makes you appreciate it more i think
Mar 4, 2016 9:53 AM - WheresWaldo: TM, please know that since the tracking is listed by time and since Korea is past the international Date line that it always appears to make the trip back to Korea.
    Mar 4, 2016 9:53 AM - toymaker: ahhh
Mar 4, 2016 9:54 AM - toymaker: they need to fix that
Mar 4, 2016 9:55 AM - WheresWaldo: Yeah let's just change the entire GMT stuff
Mar 4, 2016 9:55 AM - toymaker: i was about to call fedex and demand the plane be turned around lol
Mar 4, 2016 9:55 AM - WheresWaldo: International Date Line is just Stupid, I'll ask my buddy Trump to jump on that after he finishes the wall
Mar 4, 2016 9:56 AM - toymaker: get rid of stupid standard measuring too
Mar 4, 2016 9:56 AM - WheresWaldo: Do away with the Metric system while we are at it.
Mar 4, 2016 9:57 AM - toymaker: but i love the metric system
Mar 4, 2016 9:57 AM - WheresWaldo: You can't have it both ways. It's the rule.
Mar 4, 2016 9:58 AM - toymaker: i can go to my car, the bolt has a number 8 on it.. and i know i need a 8mm socket
    Mar 4, 2016 9:58 AM - Mike Kelly: Drumpf
    Mar 4, 2016 9:58 AM - WheresWaldo: No you can't
Mar 4, 2016 9:58 AM - toymaker: i go to my ford f150... and well
Mar 4, 2016 9:59 AM - Mike Kelly: i think all automotive manufacturers have switched to metric
Mar 4, 2016 10:00 AM - toymaker: i need a specialized mechanic from ford to change the spark plugs
Mar 4, 2016 10:00 AM - WheresWaldo: I really think the 8 marking is for Grade 8 bolts not the size, so No You Can't.
    Mar 4, 2016 10:01 AM - toymaker: i used 8 as an example... some say 6 lol
Mar 4, 2016 10:01 AM - WheresWaldo: But I thought we just got rid of all that stuff, so your FedEx tracking would be accurate.
    Mar 4, 2016 10:01 AM - toymaker: right
Mar 4, 2016 10:01 AM - toymaker: we need global time
    Mar 4, 2016 10:02 AM - toymaker: zulu time i think
Mar 4, 2016 10:02 AM - WheresWaldo: Why not everybody use whatever time they want. I am tired of being GMT-5 so I will change it.
    Mar 4, 2016 10:02 AM - toymaker: i second that
Mar 4, 2016 10:03 AM - WheresWaldo: And then keep it secret, since I don't want anyone else stealing my time.
    Mar 4, 2016 10:03 AM - toymaker: clever
    Mar 4, 2016 10:11 AM - danzca6: don't even get me into Daylight Savings Time....biggest crock
Mar 4, 2016 10:20 AM - Mike Kelly: DST needs to die
Mar 4, 2016 10:49 AM - jbigler1986: We didn't change times at all up until a few years ago in Indiana
    Mar 4, 2016 10:49 AM - jbigler1986: Bastards
Mar 4, 2016 10:51 AM - WheresWaldo: Just think all this hate started out because TM couldn't grasp the concept of the International Date Line.....
    Mar 4, 2016 11:09 AM - JeffTheMess: awesome sauce
Mar 4, 2016 12:01 PM - AutopsyTurvy: https://40.media.tumblr.com/94a3e206a7303c5d5c6e513310d59764/tumblr_o3j64b7JB11udnxozo1_1280.jpg ... thinking of recessing the flat faces slightly and filling the resulting void with a super strong epoxy clay (in addition to pegs) to fuse the pieces.
    Mar 4, 2016 12:06 PM - Bill Monroe: so, what's for lunch?
Mar 4, 2016 12:07 PM - daniel871: What material is it being printed in?
Mar 4, 2016 12:08 PM - Bill Monroe: some of us are still able to think in terms other than printing
    Mar 4, 2016 12:09 PM - AutopsyTurvy: PLA, as that's what I've got a ton of.
    Mar 4, 2016 12:09 PM - daniel871:
Mar 4, 2016 12:09 PM - daniel871: Should be able to just put super-glue in the peg holes.
Mar 4, 2016 12:10 PM - daniel871: Maybe get fancy and drop some JB weld in them and then put the sword together.
Mar 4, 2016 12:11 PM - daniel871: Or get even fancier and weld it with a soldering iron and PLA filament strips.
Mar 4, 2016 12:11 PM - AutopsyTurvy: I've got super glue and can use that too. Might use a bit of both. This epoxy clay, they use to fix cracks in fiberglass boat hulls and stuff. Sticks to PLA and is crazy strong. Getting a lot of specific glues can be tricky here.
Mar 4, 2016 12:12 PM - AutopsyTurvy: Not recessing 'em would be easier tho.
Mar 4, 2016 12:13 PM - daniel871: I vote soldering iron to fuse the seams together after super-gluing the pegs.
    Mar 4, 2016 12:13 PM - daniel871: Requires a very steady hand though.
Mar 4, 2016 12:14 PM - AutopsyTurvy: I do not have very steady hands.
Mar 4, 2016 12:16 PM - AutopsyTurvy: I'll print the first two smallest pieces and see how they work just with superglue and pegs.
Mar 4, 2016 2:27 PM - Mike Kelly: @Daniel, be sure you hit "restore fail safe values" after changing your firmware to 800 steps for the Z, i realized I had to do that since it still had 400 stored
Mar 4, 2016 2:29 PM - jbigler1986: Been running all new wires on the robo. The rats nest under the case and around the carriage I couldn't take anymore
Mar 4, 2016 2:30 PM - jbigler1986: Using a cable chain to make it nice and neat too. Tons of soldering. Ugh
Mar 4, 2016 2:30 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah been there man
Mar 4, 2016 2:31 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah wires were like 2 feet to long so they were all hunched up under the case. It was a nightmare
    Mar 4, 2016 2:32 PM - jbigler1986: Bunched*
Mar 4, 2016 2:32 PM - jbigler1986: Had to extend the IR cable too. Was a little to short
Mar 4, 2016 2:35 PM - Mike Kelly: whoa and the one he gives is super long
Mar 4, 2016 2:49 PM - jbigler1986: Yep. It was to short for mine. It had no slack at all
Mar 4, 2016 3:10 PM - Mike Kelly: bigbox forums are finally starting to get some more activity
Mar 4, 2016 3:11 PM - Mike Kelly: https://plus.google.com/u/1/photos/...108&ssid=de6a841f-5edc-4c53-8246-5640381bb748 was not expecting that
Mar 4, 2016 3:16 PM - Mike Kelly: check it out, Acetal (POM) filament http://gizmodorks.com/acetal-3d-printer-filament/
    Mar 4, 2016 3:31 PM - danzca6: what does the martian do
Mar 4, 2016 3:50 PM - Mike Kelly: it's just what he stuck on the end of his probe
Mar 4, 2016 4:11 PM - Mike Kelly: made my heart hurt pulling up to my house and seeing the for sale sign
Mar 4, 2016 4:36 PM - toymaker: mcgreggor or diaz?
    Mar 4, 2016 5:04 PM - kevin wilson: hiya
    Mar 4, 2016 5:04 PM - Mike Kelly: hi
Mar 4, 2016 5:06 PM - kevin wilson: so i used autodesk to make up a battleshot ship as my first start to end project, looking for printing ideas, like parts vs whole thing
    Mar 4, 2016 5:07 PM - kevin wilson: http://a360.co/1TxfoSj
Mar 4, 2016 5:09 PM - kevin wilson: so if i print it in its entirety then i need supports for the guns on the side i would think
Mar 4, 2016 5:09 PM - kevin wilson: so maybe take the bottom part and print that, then do the above the deck part and do that?
    Mar 4, 2016 5:10 PM - danzca6: don't be too afraid of supports
Mar 4, 2016 5:11 PM - danzca6: I like your design. Better than some others I have seen for the battleship shot game
    Mar 4, 2016 5:11 PM - danzca6: guns are always a nice touch
Mar 4, 2016 5:14 PM - kevin wilson: yeah i thought using levels was a unique spin, i made it all out of wood a few years ago, so this was my first project
Mar 4, 2016 5:15 PM - kevin wilson: i have a sketch up on the wall piece will work using laminated thicker paper, and two score pads that you slide paper in to keep track of hits
Mar 4, 2016 5:16 PM - kevin wilson: think i'm going to flatten the bottom of the boat a bit
Mar 4, 2016 5:25 PM - kevin wilson: have to work on my grouping of shapes etc
    Mar 4, 2016 6:00 PM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
Mar 4, 2016 6:01 PM - jbigler1986: Looks so much better. It has been 2 days of wiring madness
Mar 4, 2016 6:03 PM - jbigler1986: Printed an orange carriage too but realized one of the bearings was shit. So I didn't use it. Need to replace the bearing then I will install it
Mar 4, 2016 6:30 PM - kevin wilson: that was to get the extra ight?
    Mar 4, 2016 6:30 PM - kevin wilson: height
Mar 4, 2016 6:33 PM - jbigler1986: No. My wiring was just a mess from like 9 months of mods
    Mar 4, 2016 6:37 PM - kevin wilson: lol
Mar 4, 2016 6:39 PM - jbigler1986: It was a very long overdue clean up
Mar 4, 2016 7:32 PM - Mike Kelly: nice jb

    Mar 5, 2016 3:38 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Allo folks.
Mar 5, 2016 3:38 AM - Bill Monroe: Just Folk at the moment :)
    Mar 5, 2016 3:39 AM - AutopsyTurvy: :)
Mar 5, 2016 3:48 AM - Bill Monroe: mmmm hot cashews
Mar 5, 2016 3:51 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Should probably put myself together to go to the hardware store. Blergh, it's cold out today.
    Mar 5, 2016 3:53 AM - Bill Monroe: you've fallen apart?
    Mar 5, 2016 3:55 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Regularly.
    Mar 5, 2016 3:55 AM - Bill Monroe:
    Mar 5, 2016 4:09 AM - jbigler1986: Morning
    Mar 5, 2016 4:13 AM - Bill Monroe: Justin
    Mar 5, 2016 4:19 AM - jbigler1986: Bill
    Mar 5, 2016 4:20 AM - Bill Monroe: howzit?
    Mar 5, 2016 4:22 AM - jbigler1986: Gteat. You
Mar 5, 2016 4:22 AM - Bill Monroe: pretty OK.. trying to learn how to configure stuff in LinuxCNC
Mar 5, 2016 4:23 AM - jbigler1986: I thought about looking into that. Didn't want to put the work into it though
Mar 5, 2016 4:23 AM - jbigler1986: Got my kids' school records last week. Let's just say that I'm going for full custody now and the Guardian ad litem is not happy because of them either.
Mar 5, 2016 4:24 AM - Bill Monroe: it's sweet and easy for a basic machine. I'm looking into what it would take to interface a toolchanger
    Mar 5, 2016 4:25 AM - jbigler1986: Yeah that sounds like a hell of a project
Mar 5, 2016 4:26 AM - Bill Monroe: all I need to know is how to get the machine to communicate with an outside device... the rest is easy
Mar 5, 2016 5:26 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Huzzah, dowel acquired, time to redesign the core of this sword so I can just string the pieces on rather than using pegs.
Mar 5, 2016 5:58 AM - Bill Monroe: apparently, simple gains invoke long-unused celebratory outbursts in The Neverlands
Mar 5, 2016 6:01 AM - Bill Monroe: Time for me to fly.....
Mar 5, 2016 6:05 AM - danzca6: take it easy mr reo speedwagon
    Mar 5, 2016 6:06 AM - danzca6: morning all
Mar 5, 2016 6:08 AM - danzca6: I feel lazy...just got done with breakfast and others are already going to hardware stores and airports...I guess I should get my butt moving
Mar 5, 2016 6:09 AM - danzca6: I wish I lived in AUS and could go to Aldi for a printer
Mar 5, 2016 6:10 AM - AutopsyTurvy: *shrug* I had to leave the house and interact with actual humans, and in Dutch, which I'm kinda shit at. I celebrate the small things. :p
    Mar 5, 2016 6:11 AM - danzca6: actual humans...what are we...chop liver? haha
Mar 5, 2016 6:12 AM - AutopsyTurvy: You're the little robot people that live in my computer, and I don't have to have pants on to talk to you, so... yes. :p
    Mar 5, 2016 6:13 AM - danzca6: o_O
Mar 5, 2016 6:15 AM - danzca6: gal at work came in all red faced yesterday...asked her what the issue was and she told me she forgot to wear underwear...and she had scrubs on. I told her it was just a dream and she told me "no in my dreams I come to work without pants". I told there is always next week. haha
    Mar 5, 2016 6:16 AM - AutopsyTurvy: lol
Mar 5, 2016 6:16 AM - AutopsyTurvy: So helpful, truly.
Mar 5, 2016 6:19 AM - jbigler1986: Yep. I'm about to go play laser tag with the kids. Get on it danza
Mar 5, 2016 6:20 AM - danzca6: my daughter won't be up until noon, but my son and I are heading to the garage soon to work on the CNC
    Mar 5, 2016 6:22 AM - danzca6: He's currently playing terraria
    Mar 5, 2016 6:24 AM - danzca6: Interesting gadget
Mar 5, 2016 6:25 AM - danzca6: not sure it's loud enough to hear over my loud robo
    Mar 5, 2016 6:31 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Huh. Cool.
Mar 5, 2016 6:32 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Make it send a message to my phone to alert me and it might be useful, but yeah, over the sound of the printer (and my kids, and the dog, and the tv) and me already being half deaf anyway, I'd need to it to alert some other way.
Mar 5, 2016 6:33 AM - danzca6: I think finding a way to wire it into the ramps or something to trigger a change filament command would be great...and a text would be awesome
Mar 5, 2016 6:33 AM - danzca6: Wonder if you could do that somehow with a Pi and octoprint...hmmm
Mar 5, 2016 6:34 AM - danzca6: because sometimes you aren't out of the roll, it just snaps
Mar 5, 2016 6:35 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Yeah, had that happen a few times with old PLA
    Mar 5, 2016 6:36 AM - danzca6: funny the link in his video doesn't work...go here to buy...http://www.endlessparts.com/collect...an-alarm-when-out-monitor?variant=16762129411
    Mar 5, 2016 6:36 AM - danzca6: but $25, I will pass for now
Mar 5, 2016 6:40 AM - danzca6: ok, off to hit the showers and get my chores I want to do around the house done...wife and I are going here when she gets off work...great winery/distillery...http://www.wollersheim.com/
    Mar 5, 2016 6:40 AM - danzca6: happy printing all
Mar 5, 2016 6:55 AM - NFOsec: what's so happy about printing Danz?
Mar 5, 2016 6:58 AM - NFOsec: have fun, and all printing should be happy. :)
Mar 5, 2016 7:04 AM - AutopsyTurvy: :D :D my daughter wanted to paint so i dug in the art box for washable paint and found a completely unopened pack of glitter
Mar 5, 2016 7:04 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Can't wait to have spare print time to try that ridiculous "just pour glitter on the print lol" method.
    Mar 5, 2016 7:24 AM - WheresWaldo: Morning
    Mar 5, 2016 7:27 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Heya Waldo
Mar 5, 2016 7:28 AM - WheresWaldo: AT, anything new?
Mar 5, 2016 7:33 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Not really. Just printing what should be the final version of this stupid sword, finally.
Mar 5, 2016 7:35 AM - WheresWaldo: How did you finally decide to attach all the sections? I saw that discussion yesterday.
Mar 5, 2016 7:40 AM - AutopsyTurvy: I bought an 8mm wood dowel at the hardware store to run through the center of it all. Doing a square hole but it's a round dowel so I'll fill the extra space with epoxy clay and it should fuse together nicely. Might let some superglue sink into the seam tho.
Mar 5, 2016 7:41 AM - AutopsyTurvy: (They had aluminum rods too but that seemed like overkill)
Mar 5, 2016 7:42 AM - WheresWaldo: I have used the wood dowel method also, it works. Are you going to use gap filling superglue on the exterior of the joints to help smooth them?
Mar 5, 2016 7:44 AM - WheresWaldo: Was going to add that a lot of people just don't know how much plastic weighs when you put a lot of printed parts on a cosplay costume.
Mar 5, 2016 7:44 AM - AutopsyTurvy: I'll be sanding and stuff anyway so it's really just gotta keep the faces stuck tight. I may run some along the faces themselves before pressing together.
Mar 5, 2016 7:44 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Yeah, it's not gonna be THAT heavy, but heavy enough that I didn't want to just use little pegs.
Mar 5, 2016 7:47 AM - WheresWaldo: Makes sense, I have a suggestion... any automotive parts store or even the bigger bigbox marts will have fillable primer. It is designed to help fill in all the little imperfections that could be the result of the layers as well as prep it for proper painting. I use fillable primer on a lot of stuff I paint as it cuts down on the sanding and resulting material loss.
Mar 5, 2016 7:47 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Yep, I've got some of that already.
Mar 5, 2016 7:48 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Might need to find some more as I'm not sure how much I used up, but that shouldn't be -too- difficult. We don't really have big box stores here tho, except Ikea.
Mar 5, 2016 7:49 AM - WheresWaldo: Very cool. I enjoy watching cosplay event although I have never participated in any, I just think that some of those people show incredible imagination in recreating the characters or creating different lore-friendly costumes.
Mar 5, 2016 7:50 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Yeah, I'm honestly looking forward more to seeing what other folks do than finishing my own costume. I saw someone made... uhhh... sec...
    Mar 5, 2016 7:50 AM - AutopsyTurvy: http://moriesartworks.tumblr.com/post/140453749012/a-little-vid-with-my-inquisitors-glowy-hand-3
Mar 5, 2016 7:52 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Maybe if I don't decide 1 month before the con next year, I can do something cooler. :D
Mar 5, 2016 7:52 AM - WheresWaldo: The ubiquitous Ikea. That is very cool, with a few RGB LEDs and a small arduino/teensy or some other SOC you could come up with some creative lighting effects.
Mar 5, 2016 7:53 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Yup. And Mr. Turvy does all that stuff so I can just do the artsy part and let him worry about the fiddly bits.
Mar 5, 2016 7:54 AM - WheresWaldo: I still want to make myself a pipboy. with working dials, switches and lights. But too many other projects that need finishing.
Mar 5, 2016 7:55 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Yeah, I really wanna do that, too. Sell off the shitty official one since it is absolute crap anyway, and make one I can wear and use.
Mar 5, 2016 7:57 AM - WheresWaldo: I have a few older smartphones that still work, maybe I can use one as a base. Is that your website?
    Mar 5, 2016 7:57 AM - WheresWaldo: A lot of period artwork
Mar 5, 2016 7:58 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Naw, that's not mine, just someone I follow on the Tumblrs.
    Mar 5, 2016 7:58 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Mine's, uh, usually fairly NSFW.
Mar 5, 2016 7:59 AM - WheresWaldo: I was looking at all the drawings, she seems into 1880-90's styling.
Mar 5, 2016 7:59 AM - AutopsyTurvy: I think she's mostly doing fanart for Assassin's Creed: Syndicate at the moment.
Mar 5, 2016 8:01 AM - WheresWaldo: Another niche that I find fascinating... people trying to extend the lore with fanart, some of it extremely well done.
Mar 5, 2016 8:02 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Yeah, there's some incredible stuff out there. I tend to throw what canon I don't like out the window and make up my own where it suits. :D
Mar 5, 2016 8:02 AM - AutopsyTurvy: I've got a friend who makes up recipes based on Dragon Age characters and where they're from and what ingredients would likely be available there. It's completely crazy, and amazing.
Mar 5, 2016 8:04 AM - WheresWaldo: I am not a stickler for canon, Example, my biggest FO4 settlement was built with all glass walls and glass floors from the Institute on Spectacle Island, definitely not lore appropriate.
Mar 5, 2016 8:05 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Yeah, I used those same ones to build my deathclaw arena.
Mar 5, 2016 8:07 AM - WheresWaldo: May I ask, have you seen or are a fan of the TV show Psych?
Mar 5, 2016 8:07 AM - AutopsyTurvy: I've heard of it and that it's good. Haven't had a chance to watch it yet. It's on the list of stuff to watch tho
Mar 5, 2016 8:08 AM - WheresWaldo: I ask because of your username, there was a very good two episode arc that was named Autopsy Turvy
Mar 5, 2016 8:10 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Ahh. Nope, not connected. Made it up myself while standing in Ikea contemplating buying a really nice stainless steel table that looked like nothing so much as a miniature autopsy table. Turns out I wasn't as clever as I thought, but, eh.
Mar 5, 2016 8:11 AM - WheresWaldo: Curious as there usually is a story behind what people choose.
    Mar 5, 2016 8:11 AM - Mike Kelly: morning
    Mar 5, 2016 8:11 AM - WheresWaldo: MK
Mar 5, 2016 8:12 AM - Mike Kelly: how are things
Mar 5, 2016 8:12 AM - Mike Kelly: first home showing in an hour :(
Mar 5, 2016 8:12 AM - Mike Kelly: why can't they just move the company to denver, way nicer here
Mar 5, 2016 8:12 AM - WheresWaldo: Waiting on my paint stripper to clean off the Robo glass, and having a very pleasant conversation with AutopsyTurvy
Mar 5, 2016 8:13 AM - Mike Kelly: go big or go home eh?
Mar 5, 2016 8:13 AM - Mike Kelly: topsy's cool though, nice to have her back

Mar 5, 2016 8:15 AM - WheresWaldo: Yeah got my heater yesterday and when I pulled off the old one decided to strip all the black paint.
Mar 5, 2016 8:15 AM - Mike Kelly: ah ok now i see what you meant
Mar 5, 2016 8:15 AM - Mike Kelly: i thought you were using paint stripper to remove like hairspray
Mar 5, 2016 8:17 AM - kevin wilson: nice turvy
Mar 5, 2016 8:18 AM - WheresWaldo: Nope, I also collect Fountain Pens and all my favorites are Demonstrators, so I'm kinda turning my Robo into a Demonstrator.
Mar 5, 2016 8:18 AM - WheresWaldo: piece by piece
    Mar 5, 2016 8:19 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Yay, Mike thinks I'm cool. :D
    Mar 5, 2016 8:19 AM - Mike Kelly: eg?
Mar 5, 2016 8:20 AM - WheresWaldo: Sorry, clear parts so you can see the mechanisms inside is what a Demonstrator is.
    Mar 5, 2016 8:20 AM - Mike Kelly: ahh
Mar 5, 2016 8:20 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Holy shit those pens are expensive
Mar 5, 2016 8:20 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Some are really pretty but... *splutters*
    Mar 5, 2016 8:20 AM - Mike Kelly: http://www.goldspot.com/products/au...Q2XB2TnrCN3bL0dlCWu8wKMqNOf7sQ4OF7RoCmH7w_wcB
Mar 5, 2016 8:20 AM - Mike Kelly: is this the ferrari of pens
    Mar 5, 2016 8:20 AM - Mike Kelly: because it costs $800
Mar 5, 2016 8:21 AM - Mike Kelly: or a small motor vehicle
Mar 5, 2016 8:21 AM - AutopsyTurvy: does it vibrate, too?
    Mar 5, 2016 8:21 AM - AutopsyTurvy: cos for that price it'd better. :p
Mar 5, 2016 8:21 AM - WheresWaldo: Some are, but I am in a very small niche, I collect cheap Chinese ornate pens, I don't think I have spent more than $60 on any one.
Mar 5, 2016 8:22 AM - AutopsyTurvy: that's quite a lot more reasonable, for collectibles.
    Mar 5, 2016 8:23 AM - WheresWaldo: I look for stuff like this[IMG]
Mar 5, 2016 8:23 AM - AutopsyTurvy: i suppose i'm not one to talk... the art dolls i like go for $250-1500ish.
Mar 5, 2016 8:24 AM - WheresWaldo: And this [IMG]
Mar 5, 2016 8:24 AM - WheresWaldo: Most write like crap, but every once in awhile you find a gem.
    Mar 5, 2016 8:24 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Oooh, those're pretty.
Mar 5, 2016 8:25 AM - AutopsyTurvy: I have a few but they're all cheap ones with wolves and cupcakes and nonsense on 'em.
Mar 5, 2016 8:26 AM - kevin wilson: my older manager use to give us expensive pens for xmas, i got one that had a tip like that, if i heard the name i would know it
Mar 5, 2016 8:26 AM - WheresWaldo: I use one particular pen every single week, it's from a small Taiwanese company called Twsbi
Mar 5, 2016 8:27 AM - WheresWaldo: AT you might like this one [IMG]
Mar 5, 2016 8:27 AM - kevin wilson: on a side note, hair spray works great on the glass. had a big print, ran out of elmer's so used my kids non name brand, didn't work, tried the blue tape, still a snag here or there and had no overlap, but the hairspraw, awesome
Mar 5, 2016 8:27 AM - kevin wilson: waldo that looks cool
Mar 5, 2016 8:28 AM - WheresWaldo: It is, but too expensive for me, If I were wanting it I would try to find a Chinese clone of it. That pen is a Montegrappa (Italian) and only 888 were made.
Mar 5, 2016 8:31 AM - WheresWaldo: This one is from a Chinese company called Duke [IMG]
    Mar 5, 2016 8:31 AM - Mike Kelly: woof just got a 3rd viewing
Mar 5, 2016 8:31 AM - AutopsyTurvy: vndghglnnf I am going to smash that stupid laptop
Mar 5, 2016 8:32 AM - WheresWaldo: The nib is too big for everyday writing but Duke makes some really nice writing pens. I tend to favor fine and ultrafine nibs.
Mar 5, 2016 8:32 AM - AutopsyTurvy: I turned off windows update. I am SURE it's turned off. yet it decided to reboot mid-print to install windows updates, which will fail, just like my damn print.
Mar 5, 2016 8:33 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Waldo - I DO like that one. Hnnngghhh, pretty and with a dragonything on it.
Mar 5, 2016 8:34 AM - WheresWaldo: Why aren't you using Octoprint and a small Linux based SBC??????? or at the very least and LCD controller???
Mar 5, 2016 8:34 AM - AutopsyTurvy: I was, but I kept having issues with the Raspberry Pi disconnecting from the wifi, so switched it to... god i don't even know what it is, it's witchcraft. You plug a little box into your power socket, and attach a network cable, and do the same to the router, and you can use your home's power for internet?
Mar 5, 2016 8:35 AM - AutopsyTurvy: ... anyway, one of those little boxes died.
Mar 5, 2016 8:35 AM - AutopsyTurvy: So I need to get another one before I can do that again, so I was back to my crappy old laptop.
Mar 5, 2016 8:37 AM - WheresWaldo: I gave up on Octopi using WiFi, I just made up a 3 meter CAT6 cable and plugged it straight into my router. So hardwired into the rPi2.
Mar 5, 2016 8:38 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Yeah, I don't have an easy way to run a cable there. The power-sorcery-boxes worked fine until one just randomly died and wouldn't power on, so I'll get a new one on Monday.
Mar 5, 2016 8:38 AM - WheresWaldo: It has been 100% reliable, unless I am messing with it.
Mar 5, 2016 8:38 AM - AutopsyTurvy: At least I got enough printed to know the dowel fits perfectly.
    Mar 5, 2016 8:39 AM - WheresWaldo: Ethernet Power-line Adapter
Mar 5, 2016 8:39 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Yeah, that thing.
Mar 5, 2016 8:40 AM - WheresWaldo: Well, just so you know, there are a lot of things that happen automagically in my network setup, so I don't always use the correct names for things either.
Mar 5, 2016 8:41 AM - WheresWaldo: Makes it easier to explain to the non-technical members of my family.
Mar 5, 2016 8:43 AM - AutopsyTurvy: I used to be a lot more into the technical side of stuff but there's just so much, I can't keep up. Any of the artistic making-stuff type things, I probably know. Photoshop and 3DS Max and whatnot. But internet goes down, all I know is unplug and replug the blinkenlight boxes and hope they blink harder when they're finished waking up.
Mar 5, 2016 8:46 AM - WheresWaldo: Since I was in infosec, I was forced to learn a lot of stuff, so my base knowledge is like a mile wide but only 10' deep. I know just enough to help me figure out the rest along the way.
Mar 5, 2016 8:47 AM - AutopsyTurvy: *nods* Makes sense. I just have no particular motivation to learn it. Don't need it, husband's a network engineer and programmer, he can do that thinking so I don't have to.
Mar 5, 2016 8:48 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Gives me more time to make cool stuff. :D
Mar 5, 2016 8:48 AM - kevin wilson: off not. 10.5 hour print, lowest setting https://gallery.autodesk.com/fusion360/projects/battleshots?popupSNS=true
Mar 5, 2016 8:48 AM - kevin wilson: first design from scratch, off to get sticker on my car, later folks
    Mar 5, 2016 8:49 AM - AutopsyTurvy: neat, kevin. :)
Mar 5, 2016 8:52 AM - WheresWaldo: A fellow Fusion 360 user. What were your print settings?
Mar 5, 2016 8:52 AM - kevin wilson: i sent the stl file to cursa under the premade low setting
Mar 5, 2016 8:53 AM - kevin wilson: this is the protype, just want a feel for it, the cut out sections should be just bigger then a 3 oz cup to play battleshots with,
Mar 5, 2016 8:54 AM - kevin wilson: as far as it goes it has no details so low should be good, not sure how i'm going to do the 4 size boat or the 5, prob involve superglue and some pegs
Mar 5, 2016 8:55 AM - kevin wilson: this is for sizing, have the board made to it, see if the spacing works, have sketch up on a score keeper holder, and stands to hold laminated cardstock for the wall between players
Mar 5, 2016 8:56 AM - kevin wilson: in order to have the guns on it, i had to make it a bit bigger, i may drop one boat and play with 4 and use a smaller board
Mar 5, 2016 8:59 AM - kevin wilson: but did layer height .3, shell 1.2 fill .2, 210temp and 60 bed with pla, building supports using lines, speed travel 40, bottom, infill 30, outer 40 and innter shell 50
Mar 5, 2016 8:59 AM - kevin wilson: botom layer did a .2 thinkness just for a bit extra support
Mar 5, 2016 9:00 AM - kevin wilson: i should have prob did the infill speed at 50
Mar 5, 2016 9:01 AM - kevin wilson: but until the hairspray was having issues
Mar 5, 2016 9:08 AM - WheresWaldo: Those setting seem normal for PLA. Hairspray is what I use almost exclusively. Only ABS give me any real issues with hairspray.
Mar 5, 2016 9:14 AM - WheresWaldo: My Robo print bed is almost clean [IMG]
    Mar 5, 2016 9:15 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Yay for clean, I suppose. :D
    Mar 5, 2016 9:17 AM - WheresWaldo: I enjoy see-through things :D
Mar 5, 2016 9:19 AM - WheresWaldo: I am still waiting for Mr.Scotts Transparent Aluminum.
Mar 5, 2016 9:46 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Dominos has cheeseburger pizza. It is *disturbingly* cheeseburger-like and I am now terribly unsettled by this experience.
Mar 5, 2016 9:51 AM - WheresWaldo: I spent many years on the west coast and have seen pizza with avacado's on it, nothing on pizza is as disturbing, except for maybe the fact that Domino's has there own car now.
Mar 5, 2016 9:51 AM - AutopsyTurvy: I love avocado, but hot avocado is a crime against god and man.
Mar 5, 2016 9:57 AM - WheresWaldo: Finally scrapped off all the remaining black on the printer bed. Now I am debating whether or not I paint the square on it to designate that actual build area.
Mar 5, 2016 9:58 AM - WheresWaldo: If I decide to, at least it will be in the correct spot.
Mar 5, 2016 10:02 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Might be cool looking.
Mar 5, 2016 10:02 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Meanwhile, my laptop still hasn't given up on failing to install windows updates. Grrr.
Mar 5, 2016 10:05 AM - WheresWaldo: I have a Silhouette Cameo so I could cut a paint mask and just have the outline of a box and some text of my choosing.
Mar 5, 2016 10:07 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Ohhhh. Hadn't heard of it but that looks like a neat toy.
Mar 5, 2016 10:08 AM - WheresWaldo: If only this were heat resistant http://www.krylon.com/products/frosted-glass-finish/
    Mar 5, 2016 10:10 AM - WheresWaldo: Turvy, I am surprised you haven't heard of this. http://www.louvik.be/
Mar 5, 2016 10:10 AM - WheresWaldo: It would make some of your artsy stuff easier to do.
Mar 5, 2016 10:10 AM - AutopsyTurvy: I think Cricut is more common here.
Mar 5, 2016 10:11 AM - WheresWaldo: Yes I looked at the Cricut and decided this was a bit more versatile, since I could directly import from Adobe Illustrator.
Mar 5, 2016 10:14 AM - AutopsyTurvy: idk what I'd use one for but it does look cool
Mar 5, 2016 10:15 AM - WheresWaldo: Nearly anything requiring an applique or for making paint masks, etc.
Mar 5, 2016 10:17 AM - WheresWaldo: I wrote out my signature with a sharpie then imported and traced it in Illustrator, used the Cameo to cut a stencil as well as some adhesive sheets and was able to use it to place my signature under some clearcoat paint projects I did.
    Mar 5, 2016 10:20 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Ooh.
Mar 5, 2016 10:22 AM - AutopsyTurvy: oh noooo it can do fabric
Mar 5, 2016 10:22 AM - WheresWaldo: Why doesn't the MSDS for aerosol paints have any information about the paint after it is applied and dries. I would love to know what would happen to this Krylon if repeatedly heated to 100°C
Mar 5, 2016 10:22 AM - WheresWaldo: Yes fabric too
    Mar 5, 2016 10:22 AM - AutopsyTurvy: I don't need another toy but augghhh.
    Mar 5, 2016 10:22 AM - WheresWaldo: Sorry
Mar 5, 2016 10:23 AM - AutopsyTurvy: nfnfngn cute fabric heat transfers onto clothing DAMMIT
Mar 5, 2016 10:23 AM - AutopsyTurvy: maybe i'll ask for one for my birthday. :D
Mar 5, 2016 10:24 AM - kevin wilson: strange just came back, and the mcahine had just stopped, can't see any issues
Mar 5, 2016 10:24 AM - kevin wilson: seems to have erros saying no line number with checksum
Mar 5, 2016 10:25 AM - WheresWaldo: KW are you using OctoPrint ??????
