Ok, I finally figured out how to get it to print from the sd card. Load the sd card before turning on the machine. Now that it is running how do I disconnect my computer. To I press disconnect? Just unplug it?

    Please advise

    just unplug it.

Don't pre-heat the bed or nozzle. Leave everything cold, load the SD card, start print and unplug.

Hey, the 'don't preheat or anything' got me...
If you do that when you unplug it kills the printer (even if you loaded from the Sd card).
You have to not initialize the printer from Simplify or it thinks it needs to shut it down when you unplug :)

How do you get Simplify3d to recognize the micro SD card? Does the card logo face up or down when inserted into the Robo3d slot? Is the robo3d slot simply a pressure fit or does it click in? I am sick of my prints getting screwed up by firmware failure (S3D) and my laptop rebooting for no reason.

Edit - It looks like my SDramp is faulty (not soldered properly). Any chance that I can get a free replacement? or do I need to purchase. Ultibots has it for $10, while robo3d has it for $20.

Talk to Robo, open a replacement parts request (from their website) and see.

Since it's not expressly said here, is there a way to print from the computer, disconnect the cable, and still have the print run on its own?
To be more specific, I mean that the file is coming from the computer's drive, it's not on the SD card.

No it would run for a few more lines but the buffer on the controller is not large enough to hold the entire print job. BTW the sd card goes in upside down on the robo (contacts up).

Hmm okay so in order to print unconnected, the print has to be saved to the SD card first

Yes, and unless you have a LCD controller you start the print using S3D. Also if you wish to shut down S3D make sure you unplug the USB before you close it or it will stop the printer. Not sure why that's the case but its happened to enough of us.

Even the cheaper (10 dollar) RepRap discount LCD controller is worth not having to mess with starting the prints on the computer.
