Since the upgrade it looks like that all my pieces are "unfinished".
The last layer is bad and I don't know why.
Do you think it can come that I used the Imperial firmware with metric z axis bar ?
I can't tell which one I have and only assumed I have the imperial one as I was unable to screw a M8 nut.

    What do you think ?

    Thank you

count the number of threads for an inch on the threaded rod. The M8 nut should have been a good test. Can you also post a picture of your Z axis? Another thing could be your are under extruding and since the firmware has a default e steps defined, you may need to do a calibration of the extruder steps and then reset that in the new firmware. Let's just confirm you are using the 5/16" threaded rods.

how many top and bottom layers do you have defined on that print? The sides look decent from what I can tell.

The sides are pretty decent yes.
What do you mean with top and bottom layer ?

No the fan is not yet plugged.

I will confirm the rods tomorrow.

More top and bottom layers. This is a slicer setting. Most of the free ones default to '3' which at 0.2 mm is pretty much nothing (0.6 mm is not much).

Well...that could be an issue. You have to be cooling your RAMPS

So to plug that in...I circled the pins and put a red dot for the read wire and a black dot for the black wire. I highlighted yellow the two thin yellow squares that you will see right before those pins on the board.

Ok so I took my vernier caliper and find out I have the imperial rods.
I have reconnected the fan as per your instruction. Thank you.

I'm still struggling to have some good result and not sure why.
Next I will install the ball bearing between the motor and the rods.

I'll let you know, the last print totally failed as it did not stick to the bed.

Nevertheless the top and bottom layer did improve. I put 8 instead of 3 but it is not sufficient. I was unaware of that feature in slicer as I used a old version until now.

    Thanks again

Adjust the Z offset down a small amount (0.1 or so less)

    Hello,

I made some progress. I have installed a metallic plate on the bed and it works fine. I have a top Z exis stabiliser and changed a Z rod support that was broken. I haven't yet installed the metallic balls on the coupler.

I have two remaining issues :

    1) Even with PLA, I have some warping ! I have never seen this with PLA. Can it be related to the metallic bed ? (pix 9460)

    2) Pix 9493, the quality is very good but at some level the remain of PLA is left outside the piece (not sure I'm explaining it very well). It happens when the extruder travels from on part to another one. Or when I print 2 pieces at the same time. (It is obvious on the print pf the horse #9491 where we see a wire of PLA from the eye to the ring of the keychain. Any idea ?

    Thank you for your help.
