    All,

I have installed the inductive sensor and needed to upgrade the firmware as per this procedure :
    http://www.instructables.com/id/Enable-Auto-Leveling-for-your-3D-Printer-Marlin-Fi/

Since the upgrade the printer does not work. Repetier or MC can connect to the printer but does nothing (I cannot move any axis and the temp of the extruder or the bed does not change).

The error message displayed by Repetier is :
Extruder switched off. MINTEMP triggered !

    Can someone help ?
    Thank you

The error message is as follow :

    1. Why are you using Marlin 1.0.2? It is extremely buggy and has never been used by Robo. I looked at it briefly and abandoned it realizing just how buggy it was. Go back to the Official Robo firmware if you can, or if you insist look at the unsupported Marlin 1.1.0 which is now at a release candidate.
    2. The error you are getting is likely the result of a faulty or disconnected thermistor or the result of the temperature falling out of range based on the firmware. Did I mention that 1.0.2 is buggy?
    3. Inductive sensors are cool and whatnot, but do have issues with registration on glass beds that have different colors painted on the bottom. You will get different readings if your sensor is over the black sections vs. the white lettering.
    4. You might get some help from @danzca6 or @jim3Dbot as they have done a lot of work contactless leveling using electronic sensors.

    Thank you WheresWaldo.

    1. I was using that firmware as I was unable to find the official Robo firmware. Where can I find it ?
    2. I checked the connection, it seems ok.
    3. I use metallic 3M tape. I hope it will work fine.

    Thank you

yeah you want to at least start with the correct ROBO firmware with your machine. It has all of the thermistor, board, and steps set for you. Then change it around for you probe.

Man you just jumped in with both feet :) Make sure you get the correct version of firmware. You need to know if you have the beta, the R1, or the R1+. There are changes between all of those. If you don't have couplers for your Z axis leadscrews then you have the R1+ and just use the leadscrew upgrade version to start with. If you need help choosing let us know.

    thank you
My printer is from October 2015 order 1562. It is not the R1.
Which one I should use ?
I will post pictures as soon as it works !

2015? Are you sure it is not an R1? I can see it not being an R1+ ... but not an R1?

The Kickstarter ones were fulfilled in 2014 at the latest, then soon after they switched to the R1 (and currently the R1+)

My beta was fulfilled near the end of 2013...

I changed the bed as part as the improvement kit upgrade and I cannot remember what was written on the previous bed.
Attached pictures of the couplers and the sensor.

Look at the couplers... not an R1+ for sure (it uses leadscrews).

The only way to differentiate this is to measure the thread size on the threaded rods.
    is it 5/16 or 8mm?.

Ultimately the designation does not matter -- only the hardware :)

my guess is 5/16 as I cannot screw a M8 bolt on it.

It works so much better when you use the right Firmware ! ;) (5/16)
Next step, putting the metallic paper on the bed. It is not that easy if you want a perfect surface.

    Thanks again for your support.

Awesome.... Glad to hear that the correct firmware got you going. You are the first I have seen use a probe like that. Nice

Next step is to fix "the disable the Z stepper motor between moves".

Can't wait to see the result of all these modifs to the final result.

It is a best practice to not disable the steppers between moves while printing, since powering off andf powering on the steppers can cause it to actually change positions before resuming.

Now you can see the benefit of the auto bed leveling. I wonder how people get good quality without this feature ??! Unless of course they spent time leveling their bed ?

I have change the power setting of the Z motor.
The Print is ongoing, I'll let you know the result.

Can someone remind me where do we connect the RAMPS fan ? I disconnected it and cannot find the pin where I should connect it again.

    Thank you

Ugh that dog gone fan. Seriously wanting to either get a longer length of cable or mount the fan to the board and forget about it unplugging each time. It goes on the lower left 12v source and the red wire is in the right or inside pin. Let me see if i can find a pic.

Yeah ABL works pretty great when it's not using the nozzle as the probe. I also would like to see mesh leveling work in person since that takes the beds full contour and not just the plane of an assumed perfectly flat bed.

To be honest I did not really understand what is mesh leveling.

Yeah it's new and available with the release candidate of the latest version of Marlin. It's not supported, but some are trying it out for testing with the Robo.
