The printer stops mid print for a few seconds and then continues. This causes the extruder to leave excess filament where it stop and also melts the existing print where it stopped. Anybody know why and how to fix this?

Are you printing via usb? If so, try printing via SD card. If your computer isn't fast enough to keep up with sending to the printer and everything else going on with the PC, then it pauses like that.

If your printing sd i have found the high speed cards (ones with 10 in the circle) dont do that :) the smaller ones with complex models cause me some grief

Ok thanks! That's what i thought. I can't print w/ an SD card that i know of. I have the first gen Robo printer. Also I'm using USB 3 so that should be faster, right?

I always suggest if.printing usb to use a powered hub. You could add a.lcd controller and print sd. Its my perferred method so you take comm issues out of the equation :)

Plus 1 on the LCD route. It gives you far more control during the print, more reliable printing over USB, and more. Great upgrade. Robo does sell the SD reader, but just go for the LCD and you'll be happy.

And an LCD controller is far cheaper than a new PC. My old laptop has lag issues but my new pc is a workhorse and haven't had lags or issues. I still like the insurance of the LCD. You can do things like changing the speed and such while printing regardless if using the SD or USB when you have the LCD.

Even the beta had SD cards.
I can't remember if those came by default, but I am pretty sure they did. Look under the printer near the edge since the slot that the card plugs into is ... tiny (micro SD card, not a full-size)

The LCD controller is a huge upgrade, well worth it and uses a full size SD card that is easy to reach :)

Oh...I didn't know that. I thought that was an R1 addition. Nice to know.

I don't know why this doesn't show under parts for sale by Robo, but the do have this.

    Yep, that will do it.
Probably cheaper to just buy an LCD :)

Yeah totally agree with you there. Actually might be a couple more bucks, but the value over just that thing is far worth it.

Even though @danzca6 is partial to the XXL I like the Full Graphics instead, easier to see at a glance over just a bunch of numbers.

Not that it really matters, but the SD reader was an R1 addition at least as formally as these things go. I imagine that some betas went out with it before they came out with the whole R1 name.
