Ok...so I forgot to post that I did try this last night and it worked. I sliced the model onto the SD card using MC and the SD card in my PC. Exported the gcode to the SD card. Now I could have sliced it from anywhere really. Just needed the gcode file. I then ejected the SD from my PC and pushed it into my SD card reader. I had removed the XXL LCD connector from the RAMPS and just plugged my old reader that came with the Robo back on. I wondered if it would still work using the LCD this way, but what would be the point. I then went back to MC, selected Queue, Load Files under SD Card. Now it loaded all files which was a bit of a pain. So I removed all but the one I wanted from the queue. While the USB was hooked to my printer and MC connected, I pressed print. Waited for everything to warm up and the autoleveling to complete and then unplugged the USB. She just hummed away with the calibration cube I was printing. Probably could have pulled the USB sooner, but waited until it was laying plastic. So it does work, but man, the LCD is WAY simpler. Well worth the few bucks it costs for the LCD. Just wanted to report back. Cheers!

I just figured out what I have been doing wrong. I have been clicking on "disconnect" and the software warns me that disconnecting will end the print so I just pulled the USB cable out and the printer kept on printing. Still very confusing.

Yea, most software will do that. Yank the cable :)

    Thanks for the report!
What version of MC did you use?

Do you have the checkbox selected in the printer mc profile saying it has an SD card?

Yes it is checked. I've even unchecked it and rechecked it for no reason than to try something.

If the card reader isn't being seen I'm wondering if it offers the option at all.

Do me a favor please; un plug your printer and go through the steps and see if the option to print from SD card is even presented without the usb plugged in. It may end up just being grayed out but I"d like to see.

Good ideas. So I just fired it up without a printer connected to the machine and yes the SD option is there. Now...I went in and did uncheck the support SD box and clicked save and the SD option is now gone. So I am not sure why you aren't seeing it. I went into View menu on the toolbar and selected settings. Then under Printer and Features I found the image below. Now this is what it looks like with it unchecked, but when it is checked for SD I get the Load Files from SD Card under the Queue menu. Even IF your SD reader is bad, you should still have the option with the checkbox set. Again this is in version 1.5.

Not sure how my topic heading got changed to resolved unless it was because of the generous offer of the LCD controller (which I am very thankful for). But this is still a mystery to me.

    Here are some screen grabs:
I also have the check box checked to show it has an SD card:

And here I show there is no option available to choose load from SD card. If I understand it correctly, an Option button should be shown in the lower right of the screen. I show nothing.

Also, I have reinstalled multiple times on 2 differen't laptops running Windows 7 and windows 10 (fully patched) as well as two laptops running 2 flavors of Linux. All show the same thing. Now, the Linux boxes had issues talking to the printer and each had to have a patch to be able to detect port and baud rates so they still could be "squigy" but Windows is what you guys are using and I should be seeing the samething (of those of you who are using MC of course)

I'm moving away from MC and am concentrating more on Cura right now and haven't even looked into how to print to SD card using it. Maybe I'll shift to that to see what I see.

    Thanks.

I assume you have some GCode on the SD card and the card loaded?
Some programs will not show the card if it is moot.

Assuming all of that is true then yep... take it up with MatterHackers :)

    Gcode? what's that? JUST KIDDING!!!

Yeah, and I've tried multiple models in case there were issues with the models.
I've reformatted a couple of times and did the same with a second card.

Now.... it just occurred to me that there just might be a limit to how large an SD card it can "see". These were both 64gb cards. What are you guys using?

32 is the max bub :)
At least in my general testing. You might get a larger one to work, but since FAT32 stops (technically*) at 32gb...

I usually use a 16 because my individual GCode never gets that 'yoooooge'

*yes, you can format larger ones and I have, but not for an Arduino to read

    Ah Ha!
Ok, now to dig through my desk to see if I have something smaller.
Thanks. I'll report what I find.

@Rigmarol I can not replicate the screen view you are showing for MC. I have tried all sorts of things. Mine is 1.5 on Windows 7. So I don't know what to tell you for getting that to give you the queue load menu that I have.
