    Hello!

I have been printing for some time now with no issue on my R1 +plus and recently started printing parts to build another printer. I am noticing as Im printing the same part over and over on the corner of one of the brackets Im build it is missing filament and then all the way up the side are ripples.

Any Idea on what could be causing it?

How many top/bottom layers are you using?
The ripples on the side are likely a loose drive component on that axis (X or Y).
Bearing or the drive cog on the drive motor shaft...or a loose belt.

Hi , I have it set at 4/4 , however the issue isnt occurring on the top bottom layer that is the side of the print. I have perimeter at 4 as well so I should be getting good walls/top and bottom.

The printer is only 2 weeks old so shouldn't be loose but as you suggested I have checked belt tension, carriage and motors all seem to be in-tacked and nothing is loose.

Could it be an issue with cooling of the PETG I printed a different part this time and now its happening at the top of this print.

I watched the print for a while I think the missing filament has to do with that spot being the starting point every time. Maybe its not extruding enough on start and/or head is melting the plastic?

So you tried randomizing the layer start point in the slicer?

Hey Mark, I haven't actually didn't know that was an option, Ill give it a try if you read this in time do you know how to do that in mattercontrol.

As an added info I did tighten the belt a bit to see if that was the issue and didnt seem to resolve

That way the head will not always start in the same location. You will still generally get a small defect where the layer starts (and sometimes where it stops) but with random starting/stopping points it is much harder to see

The issue was fixed by upgrading the firmware on my R1 + to v2 I guess even though it was brand new it had a old version. Also I did tighten the belt a bit and switched to simplify3d so could of been any of those. Im going with firmware

Coincidence, version 1 and version 2 of the R1+PLUS firmware are essentially identical.
