    The X axis is the same according to the G29 feedback (as in hasn't shifted since I adjusted it. It is within .25 mm across the x axis spread.

    Exact symptoms are same as original issue: it squishes the filament on one side of the bed, while the other side of the bed the filament is just laid on as a round bead.

    OK, do the following.

    1) open a GCode terminal
    2) send it an M502;
    3) send it a G28;
    4) send it the M565 with the correct Z offset for your machine
    5) send it a G29;
    6) send it a M500;

    See if that results in a better leveling.
    You may have old Z factors / offset stored in the EEPROM and this will help make sure it is refreshed.

    Later versions of Marlin may also be a consideration and if you DO go that route use MESH leveling instead (and it gets stored in the EEPROM as well).

    Then it is likely a warped bed that the default autoleveling can't account for.
    You can try to manually level it which may or may not be able to correct the entire thing.
    You can split the difference somewhat with manual leveling to minimize the issue.

    Really should consider the newer Marlin with MESH leveling.

    Well, the bed has a decent amount of chips out of it anyway, lets try that first. Is it ideal to stick with the stock bed? I was thinking about those Geckotek systems, they look promising. I'm fine with stock capacity, but the idea of aluminum even heating is appealing.

    Aluminum is better.

    Just checked, and Geckotek is OOS. Any other good suppliers?
