Was printing some parts out in ABS at 235C, all the same file, and for some reason it looks like at around halfway through it looks like the diameter of it expanded just slightly. Thought it was an axis shift at first but it is the same amount in the y axis going outwards both ways.

    Model error?
Run it through the repair tools in netfabb and/or simplify3d.

Does it look like that in the preview?

Possibly? I designed it on Autodesk Inventor, it looks normal in the preview. I even scrolled through the g-code preview and it looks fine.

    Yea, then do the repairs.
Some sort of model error hidden in there.

I'll give it a shot when I get home. Does netfabb or simplify3d give you a report after it runs the file if anything was fixed or not?

Netfabb does. I have not had much chance to experiment with the repair tools in Simplify, but I imagine it will report as well.

I believe that's a function of resonance.... When it transitions from a big flat surface to a thin surface.

Any idea how to fix it? Cause it never did this when I printed it with PLA(probably should've mentioned this earlier), only with the ABS.

Might be speed related. Not entirely sure. Is it consistent all the way around?

Its a consistent amount on the y axis side and smooth on the x axis. It extends maybe .5-1.0mm out from both sides.

and this same model was printed with PLA and it was OK?

I still think (given the consistency) that the slicer is doing this.
Something in the model is causing the slicer to fail.

I can't see a mechanical issue relating to ABS only, perhaps you need to retry this with PLA to be certain it is gone with that configuration.

I'll retry it in PLA when my new RAMPS fan comes in. I just ran the model through netfabb and its all green. I was printing at 50mm/s. I'll try PLA at that and if the same thing happens then I'll give it a try at 40mm/s and see how it comes out.

I get that too with ABS. I think it has to do with cooling time and such. Software like simplify3d is better about slowing down when it transitions like that to keep a consistent finish.

Unfortunately at the moment I can't justify spending the money to get it haha. Maybe in the future, otherwise for now I'm stuck with MatterControl.

If only there was some way to demo it for free because they're too scared of offering a demo. Oh well I'm sure that won't bite them in the butt because clearly no one would want to do something like pirate it...

I'll slice it for you if you want to edit the gcode to add your startup gcode.
