No that's why the firmware is limited to 85C. I always always always advise people to cut off that connector if they're modifying the firmware

So how do all the guys that recommend running abs at 100 to 110 do it?

110 is just for the first layer to help with adhesion, which isn't necessary if you use something like ABS slurry.

After the first layer you really only want 80C

That 100-110C thing is fuzzy at best and by absolutely no means a requirement.

Cut off the connector and solder the wires together if you want to run at 110C

Ah for the first layer. My bad, I'm getting some of the bullet connectors that I use for my RC's ready as we speak. Thank you for your kind wisdom good sir.

Damn, 110 thats crazy, I mostly run 60-80 with abs and never have problems with sticking, at least when I have a good build up of hairspray or glue stick, slurry works good too, but easier with hairspray.

Have to ask why the polyfuse is not protecting against this kind of excessive current? Has the polyfuse type been changed on the recent models?

I have had the exact same problem, but I'm running PLA with bed temp no higher that 50c.

The polyfuse has been upgraded to a MFR1400. When the connector broke it shorted out and caused the mosfet to overheat (i'm guessing)

Would be good to do some investigation to understand why/how these failures have happened. It looks like this Ramps is probably not repairable - so maybe it could be returned?

    Crazy..
That said, I find varying opinions across the net, but I have had zero problems since day one with hair spray and 60-80 degrees. Thing doesn;t want to heat past there anyway.
But I have an enclosure. Maybe thats the trick?

110C is suggested ONLY for the first layer, and is by no means required. The misinformation on this is pretty bad.

Keeping a higher ambient is better than running a hot bed. So yes the enclosure would really help

I think ambient temp has some effect, but I run mine in a room that is always 66f and I run the bed and extruder cooler than most, specially smaller parts, as long as you have a good build up of slurry or hairspray and run a small brim.

Sorry guys we were in the hospital receiving our new son.[IMG] yeah I voided my warranty I think as soon as I got it. [IMG]. I ordered a new ramps which I think was under 20 bucks from Amazon and should be here on Friday so no big deal. But the reason I run it a little hotter is because I'm trying to compensate for that draft I'm purposely introducing with that exhaust fan in the back.

Congrats! But yeah the air draft will cause layer delamination and warping. You should consider heating that as well

Thank you friend. Yes once life start settling down a little bit I'll start digging back into it. One of my biggest concerns is trying to control a little bit of this what I assume is z ribbing. [IMG]
