Auto bed leveling

Got an email today saying my printer can do auto bed leveling. I have the old bed on my machine and see no way it can do it. Am I missing something?

Dear Customer,

I recently shipped you your brand new Robo 3D ABS and PLA model 3D printer. Included with that 3D printer was a CD that has the software on it and a getting started video.

You can ignore the leveling and z height setting sections of that video. Your printer has auto leveling. You will not have to touch your printer except for loading the filament.

You don't need to set z height.

You don't need to level the printer.

Your printer came with a sheet of paper taped to the glass. This sheet of paper has some very brief instructions for you to follow. Once you follow those instructions, load the filament into your printer, apply hair spray to the glass bed of your printer, and loaded a file to print, all you have to do is press print and your printer will do all the work.

I have my printer but can not see how it can do auto bed leveling. I think maybe it is only the ones with the new bed that can do that. If someone knows let us know.

I received my robo 3d today and i'm so happy but unfortunately this feature doesn't seem to work here.

Let me explain i've do all the steps of the sheet of paper but when i start a print the hot end doesn't go to the bed, it stay on the air so there is no print.

Help me what can i do ?

I see now. I have done the bed leveling with matter control. That does not look like what robo3d shows in their bed leveling video. They make it look like it probes the bed by itself. To me that is false advertising. You never see anyone using paper to test the level in that video like you have to do in matter control.

 

no, their new printer is automatic bed leveling. your printer may not be.

there is. if you check out the RoBo 3D channel on youtube you will see it levelling automatically

Now, for a specific question - this is then embedded into firmware. Where's the source for existing users?

 

So i made several try with no success and i think the new version can't use the automatic bed leveling why ??

Because there is no stop z axis sensor !!!

When i use the automatic calibration mode my hot end go on the hot bed and my z motor try to go out the lines.

So i don't have the solution when i put the auto levelling command on matter control the print start but not on the bed !!!!

 

under the x-carriage by both threaded rods- do you have two switches? can you take a picture of your printers x-carriage for me so i can see what model it is.

ok so it does look like it has the auto bed leveling feature. (as shown by the switches under the x-carriage) but software wise i have no experience.

have you tried emailing jerry at robo 3d?

also, what happens when you try to print from repeatier host?

Your right, I have the older printer. Guess the email the sent me about my machine auto leveling was a mistake. I see in the picture an extra switch that must be for the auto leveling.

So now I want to upgrade to that. LOL

I don't try repetier host have you a tutorial to use it ?

I think there is a problem with the G29 code when i start a print i see when the printer go to home but i don't see the auto bed leveling she directly start to print :s

 

sorry, i dont know much about the software because i have the earlier model of the robo. i will try get people who are better with this kinda stuff to help out if they can.
