Hi. Just got my R1 last week and it has been printing beautifully, but last I printed a box and the first layer appeared to adhere to the bed nicely, but the next few layers were very rough. Like the hot end was dragging through the plastic that had already been laid.
I let it go, thinking it would fill in the roughness, which it did, but that first layer looks really bad.

Oh I forgot to mention, I'm using Matter control on medium quality setting. Haven't messed with many of the more advanced settings yet.

Looks like the flow/extrusion multiplier is too high for the material you're using (pushing out too much material for the line it's trying to put down).

You're probably also a little too low on the first layer. Also check your Z steps per mm in eeprom settings

    Thanks for all the replies.
My next print turned out great. I hesitate to change anything if it's working... Maybe just a fluke? That's the only print that turned out that way.
I did adjust the tension springs on the extruder because when I switched to white, the black filament had been chewed up a little.
Also checked the extrusion calibration (how much filament it pulls per mm) and it's almost dead on.

I did adjust the first layer height to .35mm from .3 and I'm printing the same hexapod legs again because my measurements were a little off for the servo horn slot. First layer is printing now and looks a little thicker. I'll keep tweaking it until it's perfect.
