What does everyone store their filament in? I'm thinking of making a dry storage box but I'm trying to get some ideas. Do you just store your filament in it? Do you print from the storage box? Just trying to get some ideas for mine.

Please include pics if you can.

    Thanks,

Do you not have a dry box or anything for your filament? Or do you not have humidity issues?

That is a trip to HomeDepot and 20 bucks in parts. 10 minutes to assemble.

Of course I have humidity issues -- I live in Fla.
They are not as bad as you might have heard.

So you don't dry out your filament or keep it in a dry place?

    Only nylon.
I keep it in ziplock bags with desiccant.

The other stuff (ABS, PLA, PET, PETG, etc.) has never been a major issue.
Even nylon is not a disaster wet, but it is more problematic.

Good to know. I was about to start working on some sort of airtight storage to keep different spools of PLA when I'm not using them. Your post makes me think twice about going through the hassle.

My indoor humidity levels are always under 40% humidity so maybe I'm in the clear?

You are fine. If you keep and use the filament in an air conditioned space then the humidity is likely never going to be an issue except for the 'special' ones like nylon (and PC, PVA). Nylon is just far easier to print with reliably dry. PC is a royal pain in the rear if it is wet ... I'll take @Printed Solid word on PVA. I have some, but have not used it extensively.

Oh wow. Yeah if it's not really needed then I'm not going to even mess with it.

It won't hurt, but if you can live with the visual imperfections the steam bubbles add to normal filaments then <shrug> why go through the effort? As I said for Nylon (and PVA if I ever get into that) I use desiccant in a sealed bag with the spool until I am ready to print with it. That is more than enough to keep it usable.
